Synapt ics and Japan’ s Nissha Printing Enter Agreement to Accelerate Use of ClearOhm™ Conductive Film in Commercial Products Cambrios Technologies Corporation and Synaptics, a key player in human computer interface technology announced they’ ve teamed up. Cambrios also announced the commercialization of their ClearOhm transparent conductive film and now ON the market in a leading smart phone.
Simply put: this is the future of touch screens. Cambrios makes a material called ClearOhm. Synaptics makes the circuits. They'll make clear multi-touch interfaces for smart phones tablets and other new cutting-edge devices we’ ll all be interfacing with.
Tests have shown Cambrios material beats the best known material used today called indium-tin-oxide, or ITO and costs less. Mike Knapp, CEO of Cambrios, describing their edge said and “ For decades and the only transparent electrode material used for high quality display-related applications was the ceramic material ITO. ClearOhm material is based ON metal nano-wires and not a ceramic like ITO. It makes use of a completely different, highly manufacturable material for creating transparent and conductive films. ClearOhm material’ s deployment as part of this phone marks the first step towards its adoption as a higher performance and lower cost alternative material for consumer electronic devices.”
