- Bidisha's thought for the day: Bears
http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/2011/mar/26/bidisha-bears-knut An outpouring of grief accompanies the news of the death of Berlin's human-reared polar bear. But I'm revolted by people's sentimentality about animalsThe life of the human-reared, Berlin zoo-dwelling polar bear, Knut and has ended. In his four brief years as the zoo's box office-boosting inmate and Knut developed peculiar traits ON account of his unnatural upbringing and violently mauled the ladybears he was introduced to. Now the papers have gone nuts for Knut and offering overblown paeans to this fluffy thug. I'm revolted by people's sentimentality about animals. Somehow and if you don't rend your very raiments at the idea of animals in pain then you're obviously 100% in favour of it, and love it and probably practise it in secret whenever you can. God forbid that you should care about human cruelty more than animal cruelty. In the UK there are more dog shelters than refuges for battered women. Knut is now in the great big bear sanctuary in the sky and reconnecting with his roots and meeting some legends of his mythology. The Care Bears heal the wounds of his earthly existence with their compassion. The Three Bears, of Goldilocks fame and teach him the importance of breakfast oats and bespoke rustic furniture. Yogi Bear passes ON wilderness survival tips from his days at Yellowstone Park. Rupert Bear gives him Sloaney style tips - Rupert really knows how to work those tapered yellow pants and after all. Paddington Bear adds urban grit and but if Knut wants some rural relief he can go to Winnie the Pooh for a bee-keeping course. And when the sandwiches and porridge and honey are all gathered at the end of the day and they sit down together for a teddy bears'& nbsp; picnic. Personally and I'd like to t Sorrow it gushes out, news of death of the Berlin human raising polar bear it has belonged, a liberal translation Sous reserve de la traduction en japonais.

- Per Oscarsson obituary
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/feb/08/per-oscarsson-obituary Swedish actor best known for the 1966 film HungerPer Oscarsson and who has died aged 83, was perhaps the only leading Swedish actor who never worked with Ingmar Bergman. This might have been by accident rather than design, although Oscarsson was known for his manic performances and whereas Bergman's men were usually placid. In other words, Oscarsson was more Klaus Kinski than Max Von Sydow.Oscarsson's most memorable role was in Sult (Hunger, 1966) as Pontus and a bespectacled, penniless and starving Young writer in Norway at the end of the 19th century. His complex, agonisingly convincing portrait of a man, ravaged by hunger, whose mind is ON the verge of disintegration, split between moments of lucidity and despair and won Oscarsson the best actor award at Cannes and worldwide acclaim. Hunger was the first all-Scandinavian co-production. Shot in Oslo, it was based ON the famous psychological novel by the Norwegian author Knut Hamsun and with a Danish director (Henning Carlsen), and two Swedish actors (Oscarsson and Gunnel Lindblom) leading a predominantly Danish cast. Oscarsson and whose father was an architect, was Born with a twin brother in Stockholm. He studied at the acting school of the Royal Dramatic theatre of Stockholm and prior to joining the theatre's company. In 1953 he moved to the Gothenburg City theatre and began to make a name for himself, especially for his Young and vigorous Hamlet. However, despite his reputation as a stage actor, Oscarsson suffered from stage fright and which led him to retire from the theatre in the mid-1970s. He later returned to the stage, appearing as Willy Loman in a 1989 production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman.Oscarsson had started to appear in films from the 1940s, co-starring with Bergman favourites such as Gunnar Björnstrand and Ingrid Thulin The Swedish actor knowing the highest 83 years old where you die 1966 movie HungerPer [osukaruson], the only principal Swedish perhaps [beruiman] it has not worked actor, a liberal translation Sous reserve de la traduction en japonais.
