013 i had a hard time rating this because as a rule , i love one piece and want to support the magnaka . however , i HATE viz medias translation and misspronunciation of characters names ( zoro-zolo , ace-trace ) . i know that in japanese zoro and zolo are almost the same , but eiichiro oda wrote his name in english several times and it was always zoro . the story itself is interesting and fun , though it gets much darker later on . i would rate the story a 5 and viz medias translation as a 2 so it evened out at three . i have no intention of buying another viz media translated manga .
maybe i'll start collecting the actual japanese version , though , because the story is fantastic .

I'll admit the art is something to get used to , but once you do you get what is easily one of the most enjoyable shounen series out there.This series is one of those mangas that everyone should read regardless of demographic which is why i recommend it to everyone because it's hard to not get interested even if you are new to manga .

This is a close second but since Naruto is now getting its own show on Cartoon Network I feel it has a bit more of an edge . This is definatelly a great manga thought , dont be afraid to try it . Chapter 2 : They Call Him Straw Hat Luffy
Found in a barrel on a pirate ship , Luffy befriends a lowly cabin boy named Koby and helps him get over his fears of his ugly pirate captain , Alvida . Luffy decides to help Koby with his dream of becoming an officer in the navy by sending Alvida packing .
Chapter 3 : Enter Zolo : Pirate Hunter
To get Koby to enlist in the Navy , Luffy and Koby sail on a dinghy to a place known as Naval Base island . There , they meet Helmeppo , a sniveling Naval officer and the son of a naval captain and the pirate hunter Zolo , who Luffy wants in his pirate crew . Unfortunately , Zolo declines the offer seeing as pirate hunters and pirates don't mix , not to mention the fact that he's tied to a stake for a whole month for attacking Helmeppo's rabid dogs .
Chapter 4 : The Great Captain Morgan
Helmeppo announces that he would execute Zolo in three days , breaking the promise he made to Zolo that if he could live his month scentence , he would set him free . Luffy responds to this by punching him in the face , sending him home to his father , which happens to be an evil naval captain known as Axe-Hand Morgan , who has no care for Luffy until Luffy accidentally breaks a statue of him that took three years to build .
Chapter 5 : The King of the Pirates and the Master Swordsman
Koby tries to free Zolo while Luffy looks for his swords . Just as the navy is about to kill Koby and Zolo , Luffy shows up to save the day ! We also learn Zolo's backstory .
Chapter 6 : Number One
Luffy manages to free Zolo and give him his swords , so the two prepare for a fight with the Navy . Luffy fights Morgan with his incredible stretching powers , and the fight is going well . Zolo reveals his intentions : to be the greatest swordsman to ever live . Just when Luffy is about to defeat Morgan , Helmeppo stops Luffy by threatening to shoot Koby in the head . Luffy is about to punch Helmeppo just as Morgan is about to cut Luffy in two , but Zolo makes short work of an already injured Morgan and Luffy plasters Helmeppo in the face with his famous Gum-Gum Blast . Zolo joins Luffy's crew for freeing him .
Chapter 7 : Friends
Luffy and Zolo recuperate after the battle with Morgan at an eatery . The Navy shows up and tell Luffy and Zolo to leave the island . Koby wants to join the Navy still , so when the Navy says for Koby to leave too because he's Luffy's friend , Luffy tells Koby's entire story and how he worked with a pirate to seemingly ruin Koby's chances of getting in the Navy . Koby stops him by punching Luffy in the face , so the two fight until the lieutenant points out that the two are obviously not friends . Koby joins the Navy because he won't travel with Luffy , and Luffy and Zolo sail off .
Chapter 8 : Nami
Luffy accidentally gets himself caught by a bird he tries to catch for food , whn Zolo chases after him , he runs into three drowning pirates from the Buggy pirate crew , which hop aboard . Luffy runs into a girl named Nami when the bird drops him , who specializes in robbing pirates .
001 This wonderful series , One Piece is a comedy-drama , and one of my favorite manga . I think the reason I like it so much is that , although it is technically a shonen series , it has a little something for everyone : comedy , drama , tears , laughter , magic , strong male and female characters , and the obligatory cute character ( Tonytony Chopper , who is introduced much later and is so much more than just a cute sidekick ) . And , of course , pirates . : D
Even with the over-the-top character designs , superpowers , and elements of magic , Luffy and his friends are all enjoyable and sympathetic , with well-balanced flaws and strengths . Luffy seems too stupid to captain a ship , but occasionally has moments of brilliance that make you wonder if he's secretly a genius . Zoro , the gruff woman-hating swordsman , softens when faced with a little girl who did something special just for him . Nami begins to care about Luffy and company , despite her insistance that she will never be a pirate . Usopp is a coward , but comes through when those he cares about are in danger . Despite his suave exterior , Sanji goes gaga when a pretty woman pays him the slightest attention . Chopper begins to see that there are humans out there worthy of his trust . The dynamics between the whole group , once they are assembled , is incredibly fun and full of chemistry .
On the most basic level , you could call it a pirate comedy , but it is so much more than that . Sure , it is full of funny jokes and silly sight gags , but there is something very serious behind all that .
One Piece is about chasing your dreams , and doing so with a group of loyal nakama ( companions ) at your side . Luffy's crew are more than friends ; they are family , bound together by affection and hardship . They trust their lives to one another , and learn each other's limits . Along the way , they confront their pasts and look to the future , and set out to make their individual dreams into reality .
002 One-Piece is currently the most popular manga series in Japan , and it well-deserves the fame and praise . It is a well-done , funny adventure and a rollicking good time . Full of strange , non sequitur characters and bizarre physical humor , One-Piece is a genre unto itself .
Romance Dawn is the first volume of the English-translated series , and has the stretchable would-be Pirate Captain Monkey D . Lufty in search of the fabled treasure , the One-Piece . He who finds the One-Piece will have the right to call himself the Pirate King , which is Monkey's dream .
Romance does not mean girls in this title , but the dawn of the romance of high adventure and the roaring seas . Of course , no adventure is great without the gathering of the crew , and that is what you find here .
It is hard to see anyone not liking One-Piece . Definitely the best comic coming from Japan today ! Yo Ho !
003 This series is wonderfully original and phenomenally funny ! Just reading the first chapter made me a fan for life . The art style is very different but quickly endears itself to the reader because of its flow , pacing , and simplicity . The author , Oda has a gift for storytelling which is evident in this book and only improves as the series progresses . I strongly recommend that everyone pick up this book immediately and see why the series is loved all around the world .
The book is set in a world where pirates roam the seas , and mysterious powers can be gained by eating devil-fruit . The characters in this series are immensely likeable , with stories that will make you laugh and cry . The sense of adventure that the main character Luffy exudes is insanely infectious , and will quickly instill a desire in the reader to grab a bandana and join the crew .
This book is the epitome of how stories should be told . There are 29 volumes published in Japan ( as of October 2003 ) and the series is still going strong . Currently it's being serialized in Viz's Shonen Jump monthly anthology ( also highly recommended ) and collected into Graphic Novels when enough chapters have been published . Shonen Jump tends to print 1 - 3 chapters of One Piece in each issue , and each volume contains 9 - 10 chapters each , so readers can expect 2 or 3 collected volumes each year .
004 I'm surprised at how long its taken for One Piece to finally make a debut in the United States , especially considering its got over 140 anime episodes , 27 volumes of manga , video games , plushies , and just about every sort of tie-in the Japanese can come up with . Plus , the concept is a lot more original than the catch em all anime trash that has flooded North America over the past few years . If the reason for this delay is because One Piece can occasionally get violent to the point where characters bleed ( sometimes ridiculously so , but only for effect ) , then one only has to realize that in Japan this series is aimed at the Pokemon demographic to see how far behind we in America are with censorship . Get over it already , and bring on the anime !
But anyways , for those who've never heard of One Piece , the best comparison I can make is to the LucasArts Monkey Island computer game series . Both take liberties with the pirate age , mixing it with modern trappings and sensabilities for great comedy and adventure . Long ago , a great pirate named Gold Roger was executed , but not before leaving behind a cryptic message for people to find his treasure . Whoever finds his one piece will become the next king of pirates . Enter Monkey D . Luffy , a young boy who has eaten the gum-gum fruit , and has gained the ability to stretch his limbs and become the ultimate rubber man . Because of a promise made to his childhood hero , the Red-Haired pirate Shanks , Luffy sets out to become the king of pirates . In this volume , he runs into a bounty hunter named Roronoa Zoro , a pirate thief named Nami , rescues a town from a corrupt Marine Captain with an axe-hand , and prepares for a fight with a clown pirate ( to be continued in volume 2 ) .
Having seen the chinese version of the manga and some fansubbed episodes , the story always follows a strict formula , like every long-running series . Luffy and company come upon a town that needs help , fight the local tyrant / pirate until they eventually win , and move on . However , something new is added each time , and the series , if a little dragged out , never becomes boring . The art is simple but effective , and the character designs get wackier and wackier as the series progresses . Plus there's a lot of great character development , with some genuinely touching backgrounds for Luffy and his crew . If you've got the money and are in the mood to read a long-running manga title , you can't go wrong with One Piece .

Then you finalize the group by puting them under the command of Reed Richards love child gone wrong ; a Hero with what appears to be down syndrome ( Monkey D . Luffy ) . . . in the setting of mythical pirate times ; enter the imaginative oddity called : ONE PIECE .
Maybe some of you have heard of it . It is probably the most famous ANIME and MANGA among teens in Japan now adays . One Piece done by Eiichiro Oda takes the action and adventure of Dragon Ball Z and combines it with the story telling quality like Alice in Wonderland and weaves in the intricate character development and relationships not so unlike the X-Men , and takes you to far off lands once upon a time , somewhere over the rain-bow , and it's anything but Kansas anymore .
What I mean to say is , it is so strangly original in the artistic sense , that you can't help but keep turning page after page . Sure enough , the story contains recognizable elements of the same old duke it out in Street Fighter / Goku with a bad hair day / Ultimate kung-fu style , but it is told in a quirky and often offbeat way . Sometimes you have to keep puting the book down to dry your eyes from all the tears of laughter . The narrative has a wonderful flow and ocassionally the humor is dark , and other times it's just too bizarre . I will say this is one of the most entertaining and consecutively enjoyable Manga series I have ever read . I bought the entire 36 collected issues , and will continue to buy the ongoing series straight from Japan .
Oda's art is anything but traditional . His characters don't look anime but have a loose lines mix between Tim Burton sketches and Alice and Wonderland drawings . The art is constantly wonderful energetic and dazzles you with Oda's excellent aesthetic design sense . It may take time adjusting to the visual stylings of One Piece but falling in love with it is easy to do .
Originally I avoided One Piece at all costs , and just like a Pokemon plague I was refusing to get sucked into the consumer market hype just because it is some popular trend . But I caved in , and now I am peniless and in love .
Extremely dynamic and action packed , constantly laugh out loud funny , with odd situations , strange occurances , and even stranger characters that would give Lewis Carol a run for his originallity . . . enter the bizarre world of One Piece .
006 The first volume of One Piece is when Luffy first sets out to become a pirate in an era when the Navy has gone corrupt . When we think of pirates most of us think of mean people who have no loyalties , but Luffy is not like that at all . He's fiercly loyal to all his friends and comrades and sticks up for what he thinks is right .
Although he is unable to swim , a consqeuence of eating the Gum Gum fruit , Luffy faces his goal of being the best pirate in the world with steadfast determination . Armed with his rubbery body , which he uses to fight off other pirates and a hat , a mento of a pirate captain ( and friend ) who saved Luffy from a shark at the cost of his hand , Luffy sets out on his journey to become the worlds best pirate .
This first novel shows how Luffy gains his First Mate Zoro a world reknown pirate hunter and swordsmen and his Navigator - a pirate thief .
I recommened this novel to anyone who likes Anime / Magna and anyone who is not yet a fan . This is a fun story full of friendship , loyalty , and of course pirates .

It's outstanding fun and I can't recommend it enough to folks who love comic action . Luffy is truly a pirate with a heart of gold , who always goes out of his way to do the right thing .

From that day on Luffy vowed he would become KING OF THE PIRATES ! But don't pirates have crews ? So Luffy decides , no matter what , that the legendary pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro was to become his first mate ! And the last thing I want to do is give away the entire story , ( hopefully I didn't already give away tooo much ) so I suggest that you read a bit more about One Piece , if you've watched the edited anime ( the one shown on 4Kids ) , you should be warned that there's alot of cursing ,

Roger . Luffy first needs to find a crew .
His first choice is Roronoa Zolo , a feared bounty hunter of the East Blue . Zolo first seems frightening but he is amazing . Zolo fights in the 3 sword style holding two swords in his hands and one in his mouth . Zolo's dream is to become the best swordsman in the world . After Zolo realizes that he can choose between becoming a pirate and death , which would mean giving up his dream , Zolo decides to leave his pirate hunting days behind him and become the first member of Luffy's crew . Throughout the whole series Zolo is always improving and beating more characters .
In later books Luffy and Zolo move on to gain the rest of their wacky crew . Nami , an amazing navigator who is a treasure hunting theif . Usopp , a runaway / scardy cat , sharpshooter which a big heart and likes to tell even biggers lies , and Sanji , an awesome cook that has a kick that can split rock in half ( sometimes . . . ) Together they meet even more people that becomes their friends and enemies , once and a while they pick up some new crew members too but thats a secret .
In this series you learn to love everyone's crazy personalities . Sometimes its serious but sometimes its laugh out loud . Each character is absolutly amazing . You'll learn to adore pirates .

011 One Piece has got to be the best manga series being published right now . It's got action , great characters , a interesting plot , but most importantly . . . it's actually funny ! Some other manga artists try to be funny , but aren't really good at it . But , Eiichiro Oda isn't one of them ! These books have good humor in them . What I really wanted to say is this is the perfect manga series for people who don't like manga . One of my friends didn't like anime and liked to poke fun at the huge eyes and spikey blonde hair that suddenly appeared on people . One day , I brought One Piece Vol . 1 to school and he asked if he could read it . Now he's hooked just like me ! He finished Vol . 1 in one school day and actually began reading his textbooks the wrong way by accident . I personally like that this series is more like a cartoon than a manga . For example , Luffy , the main character , ate a specail fruit when he was 7 and got the ability to stretch like rubber . Then , he and some allies team up to defeat an evil circus crew ! This is my favorite manga series currently ( followed closely behind by Hikaru No Go , Naruto , and the newly released Tsubasa ) . Now , enter the world of ONE PIECE !

After taking the devil's fruit of the Gum-Gum Tree , Monkey is cursed with the ability to stretch his body like Plastic Man , but at the price of never being able to swim again . He wants to go after the legendary treasure known as the One Piece left behind by the original Pirate King , Gold Roger . Not knowing what the One Piece itself is actually , Monkey goes to find his own crew . He runs into the orphened Koby who is the cabin boy for the large female pirate Alvida ( picture Rosanne Barr as a pirate lass ! ) . He gets him to leave her , and the two then seek to get the pirate hunter Zora to join then . After an altercation with a corrupt naval captain , Monkey and Zora leave Koby behind and off to get the rest of their crew . One Piece is a very long series though ( forget Dragonball ! ) , and one that you really need to commit to wanting to get into . It's got high seas adventure for any manga fan !

Chapter 4 : The Great Captain Morgan
Helmeppo announces that he would execute Zolo in three days , breaking the promise he made to Zolo that if he could live his month scentence , he would set him free . Luffy responds to this by punching him in the face , sending him home to his father , which happens to be an evil naval captain known as Axe-Hand Morgan , who has no care for Luffy until Luffy accidentally breaks a statue of him that took three years to build .
Chapter 5 : The King of the Pirates and the Master Swordsman
Koby tries to free Zolo while Luffy looks for his swords . Just as the navy is about to kill Koby and Zolo , Luffy shows up to save the day ! We also learn Zolo's backstory .
Chapter 6 : Number One
Luffy manages to free Zolo and give him his swords , so the two prepare for a fight with the Navy . Luffy fights Morgan with his incredible stretching powers , and the fight is going well . Zolo reveals his intentions : to be the greatest swordsman to ever live . Just when Luffy is about to defeat Morgan , Helmeppo stops Luffy by threatening to shoot Koby in the head . Luffy is about to punch Helmeppo just as Morgan is about to cut Luffy in two , but Zolo makes short work of an already injured Morgan and Luffy plasters Helmeppo in the face with his famous Gum-Gum Blast . Zolo joins Luffy's crew for freeing him .
Chapter 7 : Friends
Luffy and Zolo recuperate after the battle with Morgan at an eatery . The Navy shows up and tell Luffy and Zolo to leave the island . Koby wants to join the Navy still , so when the Navy says for Koby to leave too because he's Luffy's friend , Luffy tells Koby's entire story and how he worked with a pirate to seemingly ruin Koby's chances of getting in the Navy . Koby stops him by punching Luffy in the face , so the two fight until the lieutenant points out that the two are obviously not friends . Koby joins the Navy because he won't travel with Luffy , and Luffy and Zolo sail off .
Chapter 8 : Nami
Luffy accidentally gets himself caught by a bird he tries to catch for food , whn Zolo chases after him , he runs into three drowning pirates from the Buggy pirate crew , which hop aboard . Luffy runs into a girl named Nami when the bird drops him , who specializes in robbing pirates .
024 This story is about a kid named Luffy . A kid dreamin to one day become King of the Pirates ! Luffy and many great characters and story makes it a must read manga ! At first when I saw this in stores I thought it looked terrible ! Until I picked it up and started reading had to get the next one ! If you like pirates , manga , swordsmen , lots of action , and a great story then pick this one up !
025 What makes One Piece so enjoyable ? Could it be the fact that the main character , Monkey D . Luffy , is an utter genius ? Heck no . Perhaps it could be the fact that Monkey D . luffy is a complete and utter moron . He has a dream - - as a child , he promised his idol , Captain Red-haired Shanks that he would one day find the legendary treasure - - One piece - - and become the king of the pirates . There are only few problems . . . though he may be a pirate ( or , more accuratly , a pirate wannabe ) , he can't swim ( because he ate the cursed gum-gum fruit , which allows him to stretch like rubber but sink like an anchor ) , he doesn't have a boat ( he has a very tiny dinghy ) , and he'll need a lot more than a dream if he wants to be a pirate sailing the high seas . Though nothing that luffy does makes any lick of sense , he seems to be doing all right for himself , as he has a capable ( if very small ) crew - - comprised of determined but laid back bounty-hunter , Rorona Zoro - - clever and tricky navigator , Nami - - lying and slingshot handy Ussop - - and skirt chasing and chain smoking cook , Sanji . As you read through this motley crew's many crazed adventures , you will laugh , cry , sigh , smile , and enjoy their goofy adventures as if you were there , watching them . HOWEVER - - if you want a good opinion of this series , READ THE MANGA BEFORE YOU WATCH THE ANIME . The anime is created and dubbed by 4 kids entertainment , and I personally think that it is terrible . The dubbing is bad ( Zoro's and Luffy's voices are the only ones that fit ) and the theme song is absolutely TERRIBLE . Read the manga , or you may have a bad opinion of one of the most enduring series of all time .
026 Luffy is a pirate who has the devil fruit ability.he is always hungry , so when he was a little kid , he ate guma guma ( rubber ) fruit , then he become a rubber man . He managed to have nakama ( followers ) : zoro the swordman ( want to be the best swordman , nami ( want to draw world map ) , ussop ( long nose coward who want to be bravest man on sea ) , sanji ( who want to see blue sea-place where all fishes from diff . ocean meet ) , tony tony chopper ( a reindeer who eat devil fruit that makes him a human ) , vivi ( alabasta princess ) , carue ( Vivi's spot blind bird ) . To be a pirate king , Luffy cs need to enter grand line and claim one piece ( the pirate king-Gold Roger's treasure ) .
Luffy , who looks stupid but actually is dependable , is now on the death verge fighting one of the most famous pirate in grand line . I can not wait to see the continuation . Luffy cs never fail to give suspense , homour ( a lot of laugh ) , and drama ( not too sad ) . There is no much romance on these series , although it is not that important . One piece is one of the best manga series nowadays
027 One Piece is the first manga i've ever read . Ive often been recommended to read an manga , but the most i've ever done is glance at them on the shelf . After being lent this vol . 1 of one piece , i'm already hooked ! It begins w / a young boy who dreams of being a pirate like his idol , Captain red haired Shanks is . He always tries to impress them only to be told he is too young . Soon he accidentally eats the Fruit of the Devil which gives him rubber-like qualities . After proving himself to Shanks w / these new abilities , Luffy is given Shanks ' straw hat . 10 years later . . . . . Luffy is now out on the sea trying to find himself a pirate crew . The first person he meets is Koby , a young cabing boy . Luffy helps him escape from the evil Iron Mace Alvida , and the too set off to the navy island , where Koby wants to enlist . While at the island , Luffy gets tied up in an adventure which includes Roronoa Zoro , a pirate hunter , who Luffy wants to join his crew . But to free Zoro , Luffy must go through Axe-Hand Morgan , the dictator-like commander of the navy , and his spoiled son , Helmeppo . Also , Luffy meets Nami , a pirate robber and is chased by pirates who work for Buggy the Clown . ( to be continued . . . . )
028 I love this story so much . The characters are great , the villians are weird , and the pace is great . This volume shows the beginning of Luffys journey and as he meets Zolo and Axe-Hand Morgan . It finishes off when Luffy meets Nami . Great start to a great series !
029 I still dont know how I got to buy this manga , I got so followed up on this manga that I when I got stuck waiting for the english papers I decided to keep downloading , until vol 40 ! I am still shock this is a great story , eventhough a lot of persons say that this is not a good art , but for me its one of the best stories and the art is pretty good . . .
I have been following the adventures of Luffy , Zoro , Nami , Sanji , Ussop , Robin and little Reinder ! They are an awesome group even got some of the movies , cool !
The adventures are really great ! The passion the artist , this reminds me of Dragonball . . . somehow , but still its much better I hope to see the Nakama of Luffy complete and see him become the King of the Pirates !
031 It was great , but , to much swearing ! But , hey , who cares ! ? At least it has Shanks in it ! He's like , my thrid favorite charter , behind Zolo and Sanji : ) Sanji's the bomb ! ! !
035 One piece is about the pirate Munkey D . Luffy as he searches for the fabled treasure One Piece . Luffy ate the devil fruit and is now made of rubber . This results in ensuing hilarity and random face acrobatics . It has been released through the magazine Shonen Jump so if you are only into the kooshie romance stuff One Piece isn't for you . Now for most people it is either they love it or they hate it , no in between . For that matter I happen to love it . So much so that I felt the need to draw fan art , and start my own pirate crew . . . Don't have a ship yet . Let's just say I'm in the market . Well I don't know if you will like it but it's certainly different . I think it is good .
036 One Piece is truly one of the funniest things I've read in a very long time . The art is great , and the expressions are insane . . . very very good stuff .
If you call yourself a fan of Japanese art / anime / manga , you owe it to yourself to check this one out . You won't be dissapointed !
037 I LOVE THIS MANGA ! ! ! ! ! Im a Shonen Jump Subscriber who loves One Piece and when I found out Shonen Jump was coming out with One Piece Graphic Novels I bought it at once ! I read the whole book in one day and loved every minute of it ! My favorite characters are pirate captain Monkey D . Luffy , and his first mate Roronoa Zoro . I think anyone who loves DragonballZ or Yu-Gi-Oh will love One Piece too .
038 One piece is one of the most popular Shonen Jump mangas , and Eiichiro Oda is still managing to make new volumes of the series . After re-reading this volume , I have came to the conclusion that this is a series that I want to be a fan of . Everything was well plotted . Luffy reminds me a little bit of the young Goku of Dragon Ball . There is quite a bit of humor , but it didn't really make me laugh . It did , however , make the scenes better .
Luffy wants to be the king of pirates , and he has to get the treasure of One Piece . But first , he must get a crew . This is where Zoro comes in . A bounty hunter arrested for saving a little girl from Captain Morgan of the Navy's son's dogs . After Zoro joins the crew , Zoro saves a shipwrecked crew of Captain Buggy , who is also a rubber man . Did I mention that Luffy ate the devil's fruit and now he's like rubber ? No ? Whatever .
This is an excellent volume . It's one of the best Shonen Manga up to date , but probably not the best . The scenes are better than those dry , desert lands like Trigun . There is humor , and it moves pretty fast paced except when Luffy tries to rescue Zoro and does .
039 This is one comic that you're gonna buy when you finish reading this review . Guarnteed . This is the best manga I've ever seen ( and believe me , I've read a lot of manga in the last week , about 3 - 4 chapters of 14 different titles ) . Volume one starts off with a young boy named Luffy , inspired by captian shanks to become the king of the pirates . Luffy acidentally eats the Gum-Gum fruit , a fruit that when you eat it that disables your ability to swim from the rest of your life ! And so his whole body became able to stretch like rubber . 10 years later , he finally sets out to sea . One guy in a rowboat destined to become the king of the Pirates !
040 This was the first One Piece manga I have read . I started here cause ' its the first in the series . It is excellent . I couldent put it down till I finished it . It is exciting and creative , and has a good story . Theres action , theres adventure , and theres excitement . The animation is also top notch . Its over two hundred pages long . Overall , its one of the best mangas around .
041 I didnt think I'd like this series at first . Someone said it was like Dragonball Z , which I detest with a passion akin to boiling oil .

One Piece is nothing short of hilarious and a wonderful action comedy for all . The main characters are delightfully original and I like every single one of them ( excluding Usopp ) . My personal favourite is Tony Tony Chopper the little reindeer , but he doesnt appear until book 16 .
Dont let the freakish artwork turn you off . In time you'll come to love it . I did , and Eichirou Oda-sensei is now one of my most respected mangakas alongside the glorious CLAMP .
