I first heard of this game two weeks ago when I downloaded the demo . At first , I thought it a bit intimidating . Reading up on it I found that there is an entire franchise devoted to this game ! In just a few short months , 3.2 million units were sold in Japan . I knew it had to be great ! So I bought it today , and I can't stop playing it !
The Pros :
1 . The option to install certain files to your memory stick ( make sure you have at least a 1GB or more ) . This makes the Lemme go get something to drink while it loads loading times a lot quicker .
2 . So many things to do , kill , buy , and upgrade . They say it can take 500 hours to finish the game .
3 . The option to team up with 3 other people and play together .
4 . It looks beautiful . As beautiful as you can get on the PSP .
The Cons ( as of the time of this writing ) :

The Monster Hunter series has been widely popular in Japan for some time now . I've been interested in checking the series out for a while now and finally did with Freedom Unite .
The game's basic structure follows the structure of most MMORPGs . You start off as a Hunter in a village , and take miscellaneous quests to embark upon . The quests rang from Hunting , Slaying , Gathering , and Event Quests . Once you stop by the guild and pick up a contract of your choice , you set off on an adventure to fulfill the quests parameters .

In order to become a successful Hunter , you need to become totally immersed in the world . The level of depth and time may put off some games looking for a quick thrill , but if you're patient and dedicated , the game is incredibly rewarding .

The game's basic structure follows the structure of most MMORPGs . You start off as a Hunter in a village , and take miscellaneous quests to embark upon . The quests rang from Hunting , Slaying , Gathering , and Event Quests . Once you stop by the guild and pick up a contract of your choice , you set off on an adventure to fulfill the quests parameters .

Sure there are those who would suggest that a racing game has its moments of awesomeness , but does running around a track 10 times or jumming up and down in a fighter game truely keep everyone's interest for long ? . . . . . . not really . FYI : this game only supports adhoc mode . This means that you can only play with others if you are hooked up to the same router and sitting in the same room . All you have to do is buy a Planex wifi adapter that is compatible with your computer , download Xlink Kai , and youll be able to enjoy multiplayer with people from around the globe in the comfort of your own home . First off , I just want to say that anyone intending to buy this game should know that there's going to be A LOT of time put into it . I've clocked about 300 hours in the last three years in Monster Hunter alone . The game is immersing , in some ways more than others , but ultimately great for people who like to customize their weapons , armor and character . Everything shows on-screen , so all the changes you make really DO change your character , unlike some other games that only have the change in writing . Monsters are unique , have their own stats and moves and environments , and are sometimes really difficult to take down . That requires hours of farming other , easier , monsters to get better armor , and you WILL end up repeating this dozens of times . Luckily , the game is so fun that you don't really mind it after awhile , and it becomes something of the norm . Not a bad thing at all , mind you .
When you're out on the hunt , you take with you an inventory that can hold about twenty items . These will vary among each hunter , but will probably include traps , bombs , potions , various items and items that can be combined to make other items . Like , say , a blue mushroom and an herb make a potion . And a potion with honey makes a mega potion . Too much to remember ? Well , there's a reference guide in your menu that keeps track of all the things you've combined , telling you what they make and the probability that it will work . Still sound like too much ? No worries , you'll be combining quite often , and after awhile you get so good at it that you can combine even when you're running for your life from the Tigrex .
You're given a farm to get all kinds or materials from , like ore and herbs , bugs and fish , honey , etc . You will use these and the materials you get from killing monsters to create your armor and weapons , in which there are HUNDREDS of choices .

- Insane amount of game-time can be spent playing before you reach the pinnacle of monster hunters .
THE BAD :
- Not much of a storyline . But that didn't bug me .
- Learning curve can be pretty steep for some people .
- Abilities such as the Armor Skills are not explained in-depth in the game .
- It's annoying to farm for rare items in the later aspects of the game .
SUMMARY :
I thoroughly enjoyed Monster Hunter over many other games , even over World of Warcraft . I believe the game has a unique play style in the sense that even if you have the best gear in the game , you can still be a terrible hunter .
Most games require you to get the best weapons and best armor to get through , but with enough skill and know-how you can get by in the game without much extra gear at all . In fact , it's a good way to test how skilled you are as a hunter in the game if you can beat certain monsters with the use of weaker armor and weapons ( just to challenge yourself ) .
The graphics of the game are nice , not too flashy . But , it's for the PSP , taking that into account they're darn good . There's enough detail to not make you bored to tears from looking at your character . The designs of all the weapons and armor in the game are perfect for every giant sword and giant armor buff out there . Certain sets of armor such as the Monoblos armor have giant horns on the shoulders , making you look more akin to a demon than a hunter . Very cool equipment appearances .
The re playability is spectacular , but most of the time you wouldn't really need to replay the game unless you wanted to try and beat your previous total game time on the next character when you get to the same spot . In fact , if I remember correctly , there was another player who was making a series of videos on YouTube where he would start the game from the beginning , and play through it without any armor and with a great sword . That right there is some challenge !
My only real qualm about the game is that some of my friends have a harder time learning to read the movements of the monsters and find it difficult to play the game . If my friends could get into playing defensively they'd probably be better , but it's hard for some folks to do that . When people have a hard time playing a game , and aren't keen on learning the way to play it safely and effectively it makes them want to play it less , which is rather unfortunate for me when I'm trying to get some friends to play it with me .
Another thing with the game is that once you've gotten to the higher ranks of the hunting gathering hall , you run in to some quests that are literally too hard to do by yourself unless you are a disgustingly perfectionist player . So having a friend or two to group with through certain areas of the game can be a true blessing ( or a curse if they aren't very good . : P ) so don't forget to find a friend to play with you if you don't plan on being the best out there .
All in all , I give the game a 5 / 5 . Very nicely done ! : )

I picked this game up after hearing good praise for it . After spending a few hours with the game I'm hooked on the game . I never imagined the game would be so indepth even down to cooking the raw meat . Despite what the magazine and paid reviewers tell you , MHFU is a great game for those that like the challenge of taking on huge monsters .
The game starts a little slow to introduce you to basic concepts that you must grasp firmly to survive but quickly ups the difficulty curve by pitting you against stronger and stronger monster each with a unique fighting style and attacks . This game is a platform-selling monster . When released in Japan , it surged the sales of PSP above the DS , making it the first time that a handheld has done this to a Nintendo handheld . Now , this doesn't say anything about its inherent qualities , just that there's a lot of people who like the game in Japan . Now , I must say there's good reason , too . The game is challenging , you start out going through tutorials that could last a few hours before you get into the meat of the game , i.e . taking missions from the chief and the guild . While it may seem like a chore to do the tutorials , it actually started to pump me up for the rest of the game , you start learning which weapons you like best and how to tackle certain problems . It is a good start , and even after the tutorials you have much to learn . The monsters in the game are a challenge . Even when you've put in 40 hours of playtime , you may have trouble beating some of the monsters you've fought already , and new challenges come with some regularity . The boss-mob type monsters are sure to give you trouble the first time you try them , and it takes figuring the fight out . You will die along the way , and it may be slightly frustrating , but that's what keeps people coming back , it's not just fighting cookie-cutter AI .
One of the other aspects of the game which lead so many people to purchase the game was the multiplayer options . You can group up with up to four friends in order to hunt some of the more difficult monsters in the game . I have yet to utilize this for very long , but I did convince a friend of mine to pick up the PSP and this game so we can play , and he's working on his character . From what I can see , the monsters are scaled appropriately for multiplayer missions , based on my first go .
One of the key things that lead me to purchasing this game was the promise of a 500 - hour game . For $30 it's a hard deal to turn down if you already have a PSP , and if you're into a challenging and deep game then I suggest trying this out .

terrific , i have the 2 previous monster hunters for the PSP and am a long time veteran of the game . it is a bit of an update instead of a new game but if you in any way liked monster hunter freedom 2 you will love this game . there are hundreds of new quests and a few surprises along the way .

This game is great . Great graphics , great gameplay , and lots of humor . Even if you have Monster Hunter Freedom 2 , you still need to get this , because you can import all of your previous data , without losing anything ! An overall great game .

This game is very highly rated and coveted in Japan . However its just alright . Firstly the graphics is average to good at best , the adjustable camera is NICE unlike god of war . The animation is too choppy , 30fps at best . There are no start game with cool characters , you design your own player but they all look kinda lame especially the clothings , face variety is decent though . At least there's a kid and play kid's hair ! I can see why this game is popular in Japan because most people live in 100 story apartments , this is their chance for interaction with nature .
The main point of this game is about nature imo . Kinda like Jurassic park the movie . Of course you can't have a game with just nature like the land and animals , so KILLING is required to make a game . The thousands of weapons and armors are too sorry to cover the game engine . Animal variety is decent , 50 + . Environment variety is LOW . The lack of auto lock-on is understable , so this wont be a final fight kill all game , its more like a simulated real hunting experience .

* Nargacuga - very similar to a Tigrex , a pseudowyvern . However , the Nargacuga is tenacious , extremely aggressive and has a prehensile tail ( which acts like a fifth limb ) full of spikes which it uses as a sort of club , slamming it at the hunter . It is found in the ' Great Forest ' area . Nargacuga is vulnerable to fire and thunder attributed weapons .
* Hypnocatrice - a medium sized , brown bird wyvern , which expels a sleeping gas . It is related to the Yian Kut-Ku . It is even faster than the Kut-Ku , due to it's stomping attack , and is a formidable foe to first-time hunters . It has a razor sharp beak , which can be broken . It is found in Great Forest area .
* Yama Tsukami - an enormous octopus-like monster which is constantly levitating . It is only found in the Tower area , and has no element , but is definitely a force to be reckoned with . It mostly attacks with its arms , but can also produce great thunderbugs at will . It is weakest against dragon attributed weapons .
* Ukanlos - an icy , partially aquatic pseudowyvern ; the polar opposite to Akantor . It is roughly the same size as Akantor , and is based on mostly brute strength attacks , just like Akantor . However , it also has ice atributed attacks , including an attack similar to that of the Primatius , Blangonga , which is flicking ice blocks into the air with its enormous jaw . It also has a sort of diving attack . This attack is hard to avoid for inexperienced players but avoidable . Ukanlos is only available in the ' Glacier ' areas . If you loved any of the previous Monster Hunter games , you will definitely love this one . It is sooo much better now and improved .
They made a number of tweaks to the game like combining items directly in the item box , 99 of each item , etc . . .
You also now have a felyne companion you can hire to hunt with you so you are never alone . You can hire a good number of cats and train them for different things . Some may be bombers , some for hammers , some for blading , some for healing , some for attacking , etc . . .
There are a number of new monsters to hunt in Unite and along with that comes new armors , weapons , and maps .
There are also new ores , bugs , and other items used to make things such as potions , armors , and weapons .
If you get this , prepare for many hours with your PSP to get anywhere . This game takes time , but it's worth it . With time comes skill and experience needed to tackle higher rank monsters .
You can go up to Hunter Rank 9 in Unite as Freedom 2 you could only reach Hunter Rank 6 . There are more guild quests as well as village quests to complete . In the village , you can reach up to 9 * quests , with a 9 * Akantor being in the village now .
Some people complain about camera control . Well once you get used to it , you find out how good the camera control really is . It becomes second nature to you and you don't even realize you are hitting the button to move the camera as you fight . It just becomes natural in a manner of speaking . The button layout is just right , it just takes some time to get used to is all .
So anyone looking for another Monster Hunter game , are interested in this type of game , and don't mind spending a lot of hours on it , then I highly recommend this title . If you want instant action and gratification , then you may need to look elsewhere . I gotta tell you though , once you get the right weapon , armor , and skills needed to take down a large wyvern , it's a good feeling indeed and an awesome sense of accomplishment . It's one of those woohoo ! ! ! ! ! moments . lol

First off , I would like to start off saying this is an extremely difficult game . Its not like others where you level up and become some immortal character . the only thing that gets better are your weapons and armor . This game is based on the players ACTUAL experience . You learn how to react , when to strike , where to move , what to expect ; all through your own learning pace . This one of a kind game ( including the other PSP Monster Hunters ) is a true challenge , not to be given to someone with a short attention span . but there is a sense of pride that you find once you beat your first Yian-Kut Ku ( A common wyvern ) and the game actuall revolves around the player . In most modern games , once you reach a certain point , all it is is pressing buttons without any drive ; but this game constantly keeps you on your toes and even , in a sense , develops problem solving skills ( or maybe its just me )
All i have to say , is that this is a miraculous game . the graphics are prety good , the plot is really up to you , the monsters only get bigger , and its a great challenge or serious gamers . 5 stars , all the way ! ( thank you for your time )

This is the first Monster Hunter game I have ever played , and I must say it is quite a gem . This could mean either a bad or good thing , but mostly it is a good thing . When I first started playing this , it was very difficult to get used to the clunky camera control , which is very necessary , but eventually I taught myself to use my forefinger to control it . I am now fixing to get to the 4 star quests , and I must say this is a very addictive game . While it is very fun , it is also very annoying at the little things that make all the difference . The pros and cons will explain what I mean by this .
Pros :
- Customization - This is they key to the game : making and upgrading weapons and armor . This is where the game shines . There is so much customization in this game . You can make tons of different armor and upgrade weapons that will make playing this game very rewarding .
- Playability - This game is very addictive and is hard to stop . There is no replay value because once you beat it , you will have about 300 - 500 hours on the game and won't need to replay it . You can repeat any quest , so there is no need to replay through the whole game again . I consider this a good thing because most games are around 20 - 50 hours , and beating this game will really make you feel accomplished .
- Difficulty - At first , I hated how hard the game was . Then it made me realize that this game is actually challenging compared to most games , and this really makes this game stick out . Although this is a pro , it is also a con which I will explain later .
- Music - The music is great , and at times I hear it playing through my head .
- Design - The design of the armor , weapons and monsters are awesome . They are very creative and this is one of my favorite parts of the game other than of course monster hunting .
- Sound Effects - The sound effects are really cool . All of the different monsters sound really awesome !
- Multiplayer - I have done a few quests with my friend and so far has been a blast ! He is a lot better and tons farther than me in the game , but I manage to stay alive and keep up with him .
Neutral :
Graphics - Graphics don't bother me in games , but they aren't very good compared to other games . Like I said , graphics aren't too important to me when it comes to games .
Cons :
- Stances - This has to be the MOST annoying part of this game . Anytime you drink a potion or eat a type of herb , you go through this 3 second stance that will make all the difference . Don't expect to use an herb / potion during a boss fight because if you do , you will have to time it almost perfect to not die . I manage to get the timing right most of the time , but a lot of the time I will just leave the area , use whatever and go back in . I found this very annoying to deal with .
- Recovering - When being hit by a monster , you are usually knocked down and it takes a long time to recover from it . When you eventually get up , the monster is usually already going for its next attack , and once again knocks you down . The timing of the recover makes sense , but it is a bit too long .
- Monsters in Boss fights - What I mean by this is when you are fighting a boss and in the boss area are the smaller monsters . This is so tedious because if you are too focused on the boss fight and not your surrounding , the smaller monster can knock you down and the boss can have a chance to kill you . This is also very annoying . I guess they did this for more difficulty , but I found it just plain annoying .
- Difficulty - The difficulty for the most part is a good thing , except when combined with the two annoyances above . With all of this going on plus the difficulty of the game , it makes it very tedious to kill some of the monsters .
- Camera control - I mentioned this before , but the camera control is very clunky and can be a real pain to get down . I think it would have been much better to have use the triggers for camera angles , use the d pad for zooming and up / down control and tapping both l and r triggers for resetting the camera . The run / power up would be more difficult to fix , but I think it could have been done . Anyways , I had to put this in the cons instead of neutral .
- No aim for bombs / paintballs - This is a really big con . You cannot aim when throwing a bomb or a paintball so when you throw it is a hit or miss . Most of the time when I am facing a monster and try to throw one , it goes towards the left or right and does not hit the monster . This is a big problem .
All in all , this game is very fun and is definitely worth playing . Along with the tediousness of the game , it makes it much more rewarding after beating that tough dragon / monster . I was debating to give this a 3.5 or a 4 , but 4 won over .

I still haven't beat an Elder Dragon except Kirin and Chamelos , but I will eventually ! Me and my friend still play and we are only on the first series ( the green lady I believe ) , but it is really fun . I highly suggest this game !

Well first of all I want to state I ' am an avid monster hunter fan , from the ps2 game to the psp ones . So my review might be a little subjective but I will try to be as objective as possible and put myself in the position of a newcomer to the franchise . And also I apologize for the length of the review . It really is a vast game there is soo much to do and so little space to explain it all in .
A few things for players from MHF2 thinking this is a brand new experience , think again . Think about it as an expansion with new missions , monsters armors , weapons , and hunter ranks . You still reside in the quaint little home up in the mountains , and all the lovable characters are still there from the cooking Felynes to the old lady who gave you the elder quests .
Now on to the review . For the newcomers this game has an amazing ray of things to do , put yourself in the position of a hunter , you are constantly hunting monsters who reside around your village . From giant dragons to giant crabs ( and not the STD type ) you have 5 different land types where you hunt them from the jungle , desert , snowy mountains , forest , and volcano . Also each land type has time cycles so you can hunt them at night or in the day . Now each hunt is received in the form of a quest , there are 2 places you can get these , from an elder how will give you village quest ( which you may only complete by yourself ) or by going to the hall .
The hall can be played offline meaning you can do the quest there by yourself ( although most can be complete alone there are some that you should look for help ) or online via ad hoc . Online is fun as hell , if you have 3 others friends who have the game they can join you in the hunt and you all get the benefits of the kill ( as a side note if you don't have any friends to play with you can play online for more info go to www.teamxlink.co.uk / ) . Every time you kill a monster like a true hunter you crave their bodies . You get special items from the carve and also a prizes for completing the hunt . These items in turn can be sold for money or saved up to make special armor , items , or weapons . Aside from hunting you can , farm ( meaning you can literally plant seeds and reap the rewards ) you can hire Felyne to cook for you so you go nice and full into battle . And even more amazing as a new addition you can hire a Felyne to join you in battle ! He will provide back such as setting traps and attacking the beast you are hunting . You will easily spend 100 + hours in this game .
Now for the veterans , a few additions have been added . As mentioned above you can hire a Felyne to help you out , there are tons of new armor and weapons to make . Your item box size has increased and items now max out at 99 ! Meaning no more having multiple 10 items in your box . Like 10 flash now they all combine until you get to 99 so precious space in the box has been saved . There are now G rank missions imagine hr 6 missions but 10x harder , and there are 3 new ranks to move up to .
Pros :
- New missions , new items , new Felyne battle companions .
- Also now you have the options to data install , this drastically lowers the loading time .
- Great graphics as always , each armor and weapon have a unique look . No 2 armors look like .

This is the first Monster Hunter game I have ever played , and I must say it is quite a gem . This could mean either a bad or good thing , but mostly it is a good thing . When I first started playing this , it was very difficult to get used to the clunky camera control , which is very necessary , but eventually I taught myself to use my forefinger to control it . I am now fixing to get to the 4 star quests , and I must say this is a very addictive game . While it is very fun , it is also very annoying at the little things that make all the difference . The pros and cons will explain what I mean by this .

- Customization - This is they key to the game : making and upgrading weapons and armor . This is where the game shines . There is so much customization in this game . You can make tons of different armor and upgrade weapons that will make playing this game very rewarding .
- Playability - This game is very addictive and is hard to stop . There is no replay value because once you beat it , you will have about 300 - 500 hours on the game and won't need to replay it . You can repeat any quest , so there is no need to replay through the whole game again . I consider this a good thing because most games are around 20 - 50 hours , and beating this game will really make you feel accomplished .
- Difficulty - At first , I hated how hard the game was . Then it made me realize that this game is actually challenging compared to most games , and this really makes this game stick out . Although this is a pro , it is also a con which I will explain later .

This is my first Monster Hunter game . So there is a steep learning curve for me .
Where I am at : I am doing the solo quests and I have just completed the Elder Quests , now I am starting to do the Felyne Elder Quests now .
At the beginning , it's quite hard , you don't have any powerful weapons and armors , and yet , you are still going to face some very tough monsters . Without defeating these power boss monsters , you won't be able to unlock the items you need to craft the more power stuff .
However , once you have completed the Elder Quests , you will unlock a whole bunch of new items , and the monsters are just the same , but only more HP's . Now this is where the fun begins , you can start to farm these monsters and collect items you need to make better weapons and armors . And there are so many new weapons and armors to choice from . You could spend 100 + hours on this game and still won't be able to collect all the weapons and armors . Plus you get to play on the maps from the original MH series ( the old maps from the Kokoto Village ) .
So my advice to newbies , like me , is don't give up , try to reach the Felyne Elder or upper rank as fast as possible ( just do all the mandatory quests , see GameFAQs ) . Once you reach the upper rank , you will be able to get more powerful stuff , and then , it will be much easier to come back to finish off the lower rank quests ( to get the items you need ) .

Once you reach the upper rank , you will be able to get more powerful stuff , and then , it will be much easier to come back to finish off the lower rank quests ( to get the items you need ) .
016 This is my first Monster Hunter game . So there is a steep learning curve for me .
Where I am at : I am doing the solo quests and I have just completed the Elder Quests , now I am starting to do the Felyne Elder Quests now .
At the beginning , it's quite hard , you don't have any powerful weapons and armors , and yet , you are still going to face some very tough monsters . Without defeating these power boss monsters , you won't be able to unlock the items you need to craft the more power stuff .
However , once you have completed the Elder Quests , you will unlock a whole bunch of new items , and the monsters are just the same , but only more HP's . Now this is where the fun begins , you can start to farm these monsters and collect items you need to make better weapons and armors . And there are so many new weapons and armors to choice from . You could spend 100 + hours on this game and still won't be able to collect all the weapons and armors . Plus you get to play on the maps from the original MH series ( the old maps from the Kokoto Village ) .
So my advice to newbies , like me , is don't give up , try to reach the Felyne Elder or upper rank as fast as possible ( just do all the mandatory quests , see GameFAQs ) . Once you reach the upper rank , you will be able to get more powerful stuff , and then , it will be much easier to come back to finish off the lower rank quests ( to get the items you need ) .

By far my favorite PSP game to date . I will say that if you are alone , it can get boring fast unless you have other friends playing it as well that you can talk to about it .

I will say if you have MHF2 and aren't very far yet , this doesn't offer much until you get pretty far in the game . Worth it if you want some new challenges and also want to use the new features ( cats , guild card , ect )

063 First of all let me advice you that this specific title is very challenging , the level of difficulty is not for every video gamer out there but for the ones that enjoy a campaign that involves hard work , strategy and team work.It is very rewarding once you complete your quests and leaves that feeling of accomplishment and pride that few videogames give .
A solid RPG that I highly recomend . I may add that is one of the best titles and my personal favorite in the PSP arsenal .
086 Despite what the magazine and paid reviewers tell you , MHFU is a great game for those that like the challenge of taking on huge monsters .
The game starts a little slow to introduce you to basic concepts that you must grasp firmly to survive but quickly ups the difficulty curve by pitting you against stronger and stronger monster each with a unique fighting style and attacks . After you conquer a monster you are able to carve out some of its parts for use in weapons and armor to aid you in your next fight . Weapons and armor both can be upgraded and they can also have elemental attacks like dragon , fire , water , ice , and thunder .

Camera Angles : People who complain about the camera angles need to learn how to fully use a PSP to its capacity . Left index finger to use the directional pad , left thumb to use the analog and your other 3 fingers to hold on to the back of the PSP . When you get good at doing this then this game opens up to be the best title on this portable console .
First off , there are more than 4 different lands types . Snowy Mountains , swamp , volcano , forest and hills , desert , jungle , and then there are the maps from the original MH called Old maps . And on top of that there is a new jungle map . On top of day and night for each one .
And I personally have soloed all the quests in the guild hall and on the elder page . G rank quests aren't that much harder . You just need to be quick to decide and be ready . The monsters in this game have been improved and dumbed down at the same time . Added attacks but the painful attacks they did all the time in MHF2 aren't done as much now .
When you buy armor and weapons now , it will actually show you the picture of the armor or weapon which is a huge deal especially since in the previous game's the only way to find something that looked cool was to keep making armor or weapons and restarting your game .
Attributes did not really go away , they just striped your decorations off your armor . Which means if your gonna buy this game and play from MHF @ unequip all your decorations first .
And it also sound like the three people above me are new to the whole PSP ordeal . There is a site you can go to called Xlink Kai and you can turn your computer into a hub for any console or portable device and play with people around the world . I play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite with people in multiple different countries all the time . Definitely check this out .
In addition to the previous upgrades , they added another mining point to the farm as well as a new bug area to catch bugs .
Also all the training you did on MHF2 gets whipped clean . With your friends you did play and the crowns you did earn . They all gets transferred , thankfully , i have all gold crowns .
The cats you get you can level up , adding different abilities to them such as fire attack , making it so they can use different sets of horns that heal or buff you . They can also steal from monster which im assuming there is going to be a weapon or armor you can only get this way .
There are new colors to monsters that already existed .

There have been many things throughout the extemsive world of MH and this one just simply improves on it.Like the rest its beautifully rendered and well rounded over 500 hours of gameplay . You can play online via ad hoc through your psp if not then u can use programs such as xlinkkai if u dont have friends willing to leave there house to playu with you . which is always a downside to MH games except the ps2 version which has disontinued there online feature . But this game is simply amazing : P

I know there are so many Monster Hunter veterans out there addictive to the title . Any criticism could be insulting , but sorry , although I kind of like this game in concept , but I m not sure I will stay much longer on it .
If you enjoy 5 hours preparation for a 15 minutes convenience store shopping all the time , this game could be yours . In general , this is an ancient-fantasy version of SOCOM . You dress up and go out there to take down something do no harm to you , well , for enough reason . . .
At the very beginning , before you even are able to walk out of your given shelter , finish the encyclopedia on MH first . Huh , God , I m here to play , not to read ! ! If you dashed out for the first business hunting right after the gathering hall open , you are wasting time . The free blade in your hand just wouldn't kill anybody other than yourself . It'd better to take the time with the stupid instructor and collect material to make a real equipment . . .
Even more annoying than the abysmal difficulty and time consuming , the camera is on the monsters ' side , literally . It points at an angle ( more than often , the monsters are behind camera ) and needs to be adjusted manually , yes , when your thumb is on the analog knot to dodge the attack . The L button repositions the angle , but most of the time you end up with seeing something worse than nothing .
Graphics is just what you can expect in a PSP title nowadays . It cleverly puts breathe taking far grounds without reach , while the battle fields you can walk in are just so so . . .
I play games usually just for short time to relax , and feel this game requires much bigger chunk of time which I don't have . However , if you are still as curious as I was , the good news is it sold as much as an used MH 2 . For the price , it really delivers .

The hype isn't true . MH is nothing more than an average game made difficult by poor software designer choices .
Many folks complain about lack of a lock on , IMO it's not even that it's simply the lack of a constant behind the character view that detracts from this game . It IS what makes the game hard IMO . This wouldn't be an issue if the PSP had a second analog stick but since it doesn't , CAPCOM's failure to allow the gamer to fix the camera behind him / her is a serious oversight . Just walking around becomes a chore to say nothing about keeping track of fast monsters . I love a good challenge but games that are difficult because of bad controls aren't what I consider challenging .
