039 4 I bought this toy for my 6 year old nephew for his birthday since he only recently discovered a love of Transformers and didn't own any yet . He was SOOO EXCITED to see it , as I hoped he would be . But then , as any child who receives a transformer would , he immediately wanted to transform it into a Semi Truck . Although it's supposed to be for kids 5 - 12 , this task was beyond impossible for this bright 6 year old . The instructions are ridiculously useless . My brother - a scientist , my other brother - a carpenter , my daughter and her boyfriend - college students - collectively spent hours on this thing and only got it to a loosely transformed state - nothing like the pictures . Although he was disappointed that the transformer didn't actually transform , he still got some enjoyment out of the robot which is the only reason I didn't return it . I could've spent a lot less time and money on a non-transforming robot though . Like another poster said , I may as well have given him a Rubik's Cube . I am strongly suspect of those reviewers who rant and rave at how fantastic they believe this thing is - I'd love to see a child pick up this toy and without assistance , use it as it was intended . Very disappointing ! ! !

I spent 4 hours on Christmas morning assembling this thing for my kid . I'm 31 and grew up with transformers . I also worked on jets for the Air Force so I consider myself mechanically competent . This thing is in a whole new realm of complication . I searched YouTube for advice because the written instructions were hopeless . Finally a teenage kid's video post helped me assemble it . Even then it was incredibly challenging . 4 hours and I finally assembled it ! But it didn't roll . Its a GD truck and it doesn't roll . The hood stayed together for about 2 minutes before it popped apart . So now its a Transformer that doesn't transform . Since it couldn't roll like a truck , I had to transform it back .
Bottom line : They bit off more than they could chew . Bravo to the engineers but boo to the testers .

This figure is amazingly well articulated . The paint job is almost a complete match and the voice-over is pretty accurate . Its contruction is solid , minus two break-away parts or so that seem to be required in case too much pressure is applied . It's not a big deal , and once you actualy manage to transform him his parts don't have to snap back on . It took four guys ( all of us 25 - 29 years old ) to figure out how to transform Optimus . The instruction sheet provided is not very good , so I will warn you ahead of time-devote about 3 - 4 hours with your child if you gift it to a young one ! Somehow , I get the feeling that part of a mechanical engineer's final exam for a masters degree involves being sealed in a room with Leader Version Optimus Prime . . . . hence why I rated this toy as ' educational ' . But hey , all in all I'd buy it again !

060 4 I have been a Transformers fan for many years now , and all the toys I have collected over the years were alright . My first transformer toy was alright but the best of its time . It didn't do much , but i mean i had a transformer . When i first heard about a movie in production , i would have never expected to see Optimus prime speaking and interacting with humans on the big screen . The CGI was just amazing , and i bought the first transformer from the first movie , but when the ROTF optimus prime toy came out , I could not believe it . I am not a young guy anymore and this is an awesome action figure to have , and it is the most detailed figure i have ever seen . It says for 5 years and up , it should say for like 18 and up . This is not a child's toy , and i am telling u now , do not pass this up , when this is gone , youll regret it , BUY IT NOW !

I will have to preface this - having never had any transformer toys before for my kids , so I don't know what they are like . I bought this for my son who is 5 , but he likes to build things and was very interested in Transformers . As an action figure , I guess it is OK , but the whole idea is for it to change into a truck , right ? In this it totally fails . The instructions are pathetic . It is pretty flimsy ( especially for the price ) and will not stay together during the various steps to do the transformation . This thing will likely not last through a few months of play with a kid ( if he even plays with it - it won't stay together to function as a truck ) . Collectors or transformer fans may want it , but my advice to parents with not much time to fiddle with kid's toys : skip it . It is also WAY overpriced .

This is jean's son again.I am interested with this Optimus Prime toy.And one thing for sure it IS more intersting than the voyager Optimus Prime . Vehicle mode is very detailed and has truck noises. But transformation to truck mode is hard . No wonder it is level 5 . Robot mode is like Optimus Prime's robot mode in the movie.Very detauked , energon swords and lights and sounds . I love this toy . BUY IT !

091 4 First off I would say the attention to detail is excellent for this model of Optimus Prime . I would suggest this model is good for a collector and represents a good value for the collector . For the 5 year old child , it is not a good choice as it is difficult to transform . The instructions are very poor picture type instructions and provide no help in figuring out how to transform it . Only after viewing a Youtube video was I able to figure out how to transform it . Even then if certain parts are not positioned precisely the transformer has a tendency to split apart in the truck mode . The manufacturers suggested age are 5 - 12 . I would think 10 and up might be a better recommendation .
052 4 I don't know about us adults but my 12 year old son transformed his Optimus Prime without the directions , in the car , kid you not ! With a break to eat at a restraunt as we were traveling , he did it in about an hour total time . I have read a lot of reviews where adults have spent hours trying but I think it just is easier for certain types of minds . Durability like most things depends on whose hands it is in and it is not for a five year old in my opinion unless he's a whiz kid . Great toy and worth the price if it is a gift for someone who can do it !
103 4 This toy has a voice chip that says I am Optimus Prime . I can say without one shred of doubt that he undeniably deserves to wear that name . Proudly . I have had this toy for about 6 months , and I'm still amazed by it . When I first saw pictures of it , I had my doubts . Then I got it and all that doubt was blown away . And so was I . This toy has two superb modes . The robot mode is super posable , with these neat flip out swords . It even has a voice chip that as stated says I am Optimus Prime that actually uses Peter Cullen's voice.Sadly , mine broke , but that was probably due to dust getting in it . I do think that it could've used a gun , but luckily the wonderful people at Takara fixed this problem with Buster Prime , who I SO want ! ! ! ! It also has an awesome truck mode , although you do have to go through a long , complicated transformation to get to it . But once you master it , you come to appreciate the brilliant engineering that went into creating it . This figure does have it's flaws , such as it does have some slight movie inaccuracies ( the red toes , for instance ) but these can be fixed with a little patience and paint . Also , the transformation is not for little kids , and will even frustrate some top notch Transformer fans . Also , his arms cannot be posed straight down because of the swords , but you can fix this problem by flipping them out . All in all , this figure is one of the absolute best , and will probably be a fan favorite for years to come .
070 4 Idea is really good , but execution is terrible . It is almost impossible to transform from one stage to another without instruction , but instruction is not very clear . Even you follow all steps carefully , it does not guarantee the success .
085 4 This was to be a christmas present but has been put aside since 3 adults couldn't transform it .
093 4 I never write reviews , but this toy is really a waist of money . It frustrates our 5 year because he cannot transform the toy at all . Its taken us 5 days to figure out how to transform the toy and it does not hold its form when you play with it . It was a big deal for our son to get this for Christmas and it is really disappointing .
095 4 This toy is ok . It is a little hard to transform . Not worth the price .
116 4 This is a great toy ! It was a little hard to transform at first , but now I transform it with ease . Note that to create the cab of his truck form you must detatch the bottom connecetors ant attatch them to the back of the red parts of the arms . his pop out swords are nice , but get in the way of posing his arms . Also the covers for his back tires can be folded really any way you want . I prefer them folded agaist his legs . All in all this is a great toy !
122 4 Gosh optimus prime isn't what he used to be , since the movie has buffed him and made him such a big character the toy is none the less . I haven't had the chance to transform him into the truck since as soon as i got him and jetfire I combined them together since it looks so darn sick ! . . . the combination of them two is just as hard as transforming them ! . . . but once it is all done and standing up right it looks so cool ! . . . . the blades get in the way of the jetfire gun and you have to hide it back but other than that it is awesome . . . . i may be a little old for toys but I still have my interest in them all . . . especially transformers ! . . . i really don't think they intended these toys for kids because transforming them is hard even as an adult . . . and an average child would more likely break the toy before even getting a chance to use it .
133 4 It's not easy to transform to a truck even for an adult , but it looks awesome when it finished . I love it !
146 4 We bought this toy as a birthday present for our five year old son . In addition to our son being ecstatic at its arrival , my husband has also had alot of fun with the item . So we essentially got entertainment for two on one purchase !
148 4 I purchased this as a gift because it's the hot toy right now . They LOVED it ! ! ! I give it a 5 for coolness but the pieces still come off and there is no educational value , only fine motor skill practice .
154 4 This is one of the most detailed , movie accurate , and greatest transformers toy ever made ! The transformation can be a pain the first time , an I nearly spent two hours watching the video and transformation on youtube ! but it was worth it . Sometimes pieces will pop off and putting them back on can be a pain , but overall , this thing is amazing .
162 4 This hands down the best Transformers toy I have ever bought . I am very picky with the figures I buy being an accurate representation of the character they are based on . I didn't by the first movie Prime because of this , it was a box that transformed into a truck . I was blown away when I saw the ROTF figure . Almost every detail they could possibly match with the CGI character is there . The toy has incredible articulation . It has Peter Cullen's voice . It makes the well known G1 transformation sound . Dual pop out swords . Now , the first few times you try to transform this guy is going to be incredibly frustrating . I looked up a video for help since the packaged instructions don't help much . It gets alot easier after that . Not a toy for children , unfortunatly ; it is just too complex , and they will come to you every ten mintues asking you to transform it . Rubber tires would have been cool , but doesn't take away from the figure . It is painfully obvious alot of time and effort went into the design and
187 4 I bought this transformer for my son as a christmas gift and even with the directions we it takes forever to transform . Parts fall off easily and he was so fustrated at how long it took to convert that he gave up on the toy altogether . I am not happy at all with this purchase .
192 4 This toy was purchased for my 5 1 / 2 year old grandson . The toy is stated to be made for children 5 + years . Although it looks very nice , it is nearly impossible to transform the toy which is the purpose of a transformer . My grandson could not transform the toy nor could I . This made it less than practical especially since we could not even return it to the previous figure . Very dissapointing ! !
014 4 Whoever said a 5 year old could handle this was mistaken . It took 3 adults all afternoon to turn it into a truck , and now my son wants it a man . Directions are worthless .
079 4 This toy is so difficult for a 5 year old to put together . It took my husband over 20 minutes ! My son lost intrest and hasn't touched this toy since he opened it on Christmas . I'm sure a 9 or 10 year old would like it . This toy should not be marked for ages 5 + . It doesn't hold their interest . I think the toy manufaturer just wants a larger target consumer market . Disappointing .
He's a 13 inch tall giant robot with lights and sounds and swords that pop out . What's not to love ? And he can turn into a big rig . Again , what's not to love ? Well there is the matter of the transformation . I don't think anyone under their teenage years will enjoy that part much . And it's pretty tough for an adult too .
For Adults :
The biggest draw of this figure is that it looks very much like the actual movie version of Optimus . If you're familiar with the last movie's toy line you know that while that leader class Prime was a fine toy it really didn't match up to it's movie counterpart well being fat , blocky and clunky . That's not the case here . This guy is lean and mean and really looks like Prime off the screen .
In robot mode he's very poseable and has a few features . Pressing down on a button on his front ( or just tilting his head back ) will cause his chest to lift ( like he's standing up straight and proud ) and light up and he'll say , My name is Optimus Prime ! He sounds so awesome I wish he had more lines but that's it . He also has energy swords that fold back and swing out at the push of a button on each forearm . They do get in the way of his arm articulation when folded back .
During transformation he makes a transformation sound but only once about mid way through when a certain part is snapped apart or together . Once in truck mode he has a button in back that causes an idling engine sound for a few seconds if pressed or continuous if held down . His tires are plastic and not rubber but that's no big deal as they are well done . His back wheels are on hinges and tend to flip up though . Still he looks great in truck mode too .
The big thing here is the transformation . It's difficult ! Don't get me wrong , it's like any transformation in that you'll get used to it after a while but those first few times are a killer and can take half an hour or more . More than any other transformer I've ever dealt with ( including the other leader class Optimus ) he has to have things slotted and tabbed in just so - there are tons of little tabs and slots and many delicate parts . There's one point in the transformation where its clear what you need to do but it really looks like you'll break the toy - very nerve wracking as he isn't cheap ( I watched a video of someone else doing it to get my nerve up ) . It's a cool transformation and way different than the last movie Prime and like most transformers once he's in vehicle mode he's solid and looks great . I do see lots of potential for breakage though so would not recommend for impatient kids . . . or adults . Also of note is that those energy swords tend to pop out and get in the way when least expected .
All in all he's pretty awesome with only minor annoyances ( energy swords and flipping wheels ) and he looks great . Just be ready to spend some time transforming him those first few times . Not for the impatient .
002 4 When I first spied leaked photos of this figure , it was difficult to imagine they could make such a toy transform tightly into the truck that we all know . This one must be seen ( or better , physically handled ) to be believed ! The transformation is amazing , and more intricate than anything before seen in the movie lines ( and probably in any Transformers line , actually , ' cept perhaps some of the Masterpieces ) .
Plastics seem to be a little better than the first movie Prime , and the paints are finely done as well . Super poseable and stable . Parts are easy to pop-off , but pop back easily as well ( which if you accept , puts the durability to at least 4 stars ) . Sounds are improved , with a line from Peter Cullen this time round . And the best thing ? It's probably as movie accurate as possible , short of making a bigger toy !
Negatives ? Well , the wheels are now plastic ( not rubber ) , and have a habit of going out of line in truck mode . The fingers / thumb are no longer articulated . The head doesn't really look up ( mainly side-to-side ) . The Transformation will test most adults , let alone children ! And the way some pieces pop-off may be annoying to some buyers .
Despite the negatives , though , this is one amazing figure , and can be very highly recommended . If you only get one Revenge of the Fallen figure , then make it Leader class Optimus Prime !
008 4 My 6 yrs old son got a HASBRO Optimus Prime Autobot 89167 / 83973 Revenge of the Fallen as a birthday gift , as it shows AGES 5 + . Looks good inside the box but it turned out to be completing frustrating for him and for everybody .
I lost my money .
010 4 This toy is an awesome toy ! It looks great . And I know everyone is having problems transforming it and giving it bad reviews but here is a tip . Just go to YouTube and look up reviews on the particular transformer that you are trying to transform and they have GREAT reviews that simplify it for you so much more than the crappy instructions .
It is worth it and after you do it a couple of times after watching the video , it is no problem at all . Say goodbye to the frustrations !
016 4 First thing I want to mention is the posted age limit of 5 years for this toy . This figure is tricky to transform , and a lot of kids would probably have trouble with it . 5 may be too you , maybe somewhere around 9 or 10 ? For younger kids who want a movie Optimus Prime figure , I would recommend the smaller , less expensive Voyager class figure . . . although not as impressive , he is simpler to transform . Or maybe the CyberStompin ' Optimus ?
But back to Leader class Optimus Prime .
I own several Prime figures , including the first release of the Masterpiece Optimus Prime . . . and even that figure is easier for me to transform than this guy . But still , this figure is one impressive transformer . He looks good in both modes .
As a robot , he does an amazing job of capturing the likeness of his on screen counterpart , more so than any other figure , with probable the exception of the Robot Replicas line .
He has a good range of movement ( arms , legs , feet , knees ankles and wrists ) , but does lack a turning waist . . . oh well . A very minor flaw .
But again . . . he just looks amazing ! I look at this guy , and I still am surprised that he can transform into a semi truck as many of his truck pieces as so well hidden . Although he does suffer from a good amount of kibble on his back , but it's not horrible .
As a robot , he has two gimmicks : first , you lower this tab near his waist and press it down . It causes his chest to move up , the gears inside of it to move a bit , his lights light up ( including eyes ) , and you can hear a recording of him saying I am Optimus Prime ( possible Peter Cullen himself doing the voice ? ) .
Second , he has his two extending battle blades from the film on each arm . There are buttons on the inside of each arm that when flipped , release the blades . The gimmick is neat , but flawed : the blades are so large that they are visible when retracted , and interfere with movement of the arms . They also are a major hindrance when transforming him . It would also be nice if his fists retracted too , but no luck on that . Still cool , but the blades are the only major thing they had been able to rework for this figure .
Transformation is quite a process . And as I said , it is tricky . Parts often have a tenancy to interfere with the this piece or that fitting where they should .
There are a few small cheats , like a few smaller pieces of his chest that look like truck parts folding up and not being truck parts at all . But the trick is keeping everything together and moving the parts in the right order . Don't be surprised if ball jointed parts snap off : they'll snap back on . But it's a pain .
The aforementioned arm blades will almost certainly want to spring open .
This may be the most complex transformer I have even handled .
Another gimmick though : when you either pop apart his waist , or put it back together , he makes the classic transforming sound .
Finally , when you get him to truck mode , you can appreciate how everything fits together so well . This complicated robot somehow becomes this truck . The truck doesn't look bad at all . You really don't see much robot kibble at all . If any , just a tiny bit on the very back of the truck where a trailer would connect . Even the back of the cab has no robot parts showing . And that brings me to the final sound gimmick . There is a small button on the back of the truck cab ( easy to overlook , and it's not pointed out in the instructions ) that makes motor sounds .
Overall , an outstanding figure . Pretty complex , so be warned about that . Other than that and a few small issues , I recommend him .
025 4 . . . . . because they can't play with it by themselves . The rule in our house is that Mommy will only transform it once per day and only on the weekends . My husband won't even attempt it . Took about an hour the first time and after a few weeks I can turn in into a truck in about half an hour . Going back to robot takes less time . Usually turns into a very frustrating experience because my five year old can't understand what's taking so long . I'm amazed that we haven't lost any of the parts that are always popping off .
This is a very cool looking toy for engineering genuises . I think the age range must be based on safety and not age appropriateness because I cannot imagine any 5 year old being able to transform this .
027 4 This toy should go to the right kind of person : someone who's patient , loves a challenge , and likes a good transformation . This is not for 5 year olds , and not for parents who don't have at least 1 of the above qualities . If you don't fit , don't worry ! There are plenty more awesome , simpler transformers that I'm sure you and your child can handle . This Optimus is not one of them . ( Want really simple ? Look up Fast Action Battlers )
Transforming him into a truck for the first time takes a while , and takes patience ; bits like getting his front windows out of his chest and locked into his arms , or getting his front wheels to snap into the grill just right can all be frustrating . After the first time it becomes a lot easier , and a lot more fun ! Everything tabs into place very well and he's pretty durable , so my frustrations first transforming him are made up for with the subsequent lack thereof .
But even if you never get him into truck mode , he still makes a darn good action figure .
Also , Youtube videos > directions , but honestly that's not news for anyone who's bought a Transformer before .
Other reviews have already called this a work of art , so I won't repeat them ( err . . . oops ? ) . I'm just fascinated that something that looks so awesome in Robot mode , can also look so perfect in Vehicle mode ( and hides everything especially well ) . There's also little things that make him look better without any additional effort from you , like his back wheels and the way they adjust their angle when you rotate his legs .
My only negatives :
His arm movement is hindered somewhat by his blue shoulder-blades and by his swords . Annoying , but not too bad .
Unless you're super careful , prepare to hear , I am Optimus Prime about 5x per transformation , ' cause everytime his neck lifts up at all it triggers .
Aforementioned transformation frustrations .
Feet are big and stable , but he's still a hair back-heavy , so falls backward once in a while if he's standing too straight . Minor detail .
Overall , amazing ! Thank you to my gf for getting this for me !
030 4 I bought this for my 3 year old son because he loves Transformers and he loves to tinker with things . I read the reviews about it being hard to transform , and everyone was right . My husband worked on transforming it off and on for about 3 days ( while reading the directions ) , and he's very mechanical .
Other than it being hard to transform , it's a pretty cool toy . Well made , fun to tinker with , and has sound affects . Be prepared for being slightly annoyed by the I am Optimus Prime sound affect .
042 4 I think my anger and frustration for this toy has finally abated to the point that I can give a rational review . Let me start this by saying I'm not stupid . I'm 34 years old , college educated and own my own business . I'm not an idiot . Having said that , this toy made me feel otherwise .
I purchased Optimus Prime for my son's 5th birthday because I had one when I was a kid . I liked the idea of him playing with a similar toy that I enjoyed as a child . He's a huge fan of Transformers and couldn't wait to open the package at his birthday . Initially he played while I reviewed the ' instructions ' for transforming from a robot to a truck . After a while , he tried switching to the truck mode and ended up with what I would call drunken trucker drives off a cliff . The thing was completely mangled . He handed it off to me and I successfully put it back in robot mode and then grabbed the instructions to transform it . To make a long story short , I spent the next hour ( literally an hour ) swearing and cursing the name of the manufacturer , designer and even Michael Bay as I busted my knuckles turning this toy into a truck .
Here's the problem : This toy is awesome ! It's so awesome and realistic that it looks just like the robot in the movie . It has every little part and detail that you see in the film . The arms and legs twist and move in so many different directions it's ridiculous . The swords swing out into an attack mode . In a fight to the death , this thing would totally kick the crap out of my old Optimus Prime . That's the problem . The swords swing out when you're right in the middle of trying to align his arms . Because the arms are so opposable , it's difficult to tell if you have them aligned perfectly . The legs are held together by a peg and hole system . Unfortunately , they tend to pop apart during the transformation process . On top of that , they tend to bend when you're trying to get everything else crammed together and undo all your work and then you start over . Finally and mostly annoyingly , when the head is moved you get a robotic I Am Optimus Prime voice that just seems to mock you when you have to repeatedly adjust to get it just right .
The chest plate really threw me . I honestly thought I was breaking the toy before I figured out how to ' release ' the windshield portion of the truck from the chest . To the toy's credit , the entire design seems to be built around the idea that you can't really break it . If a piece comes off , just pop it back on . Most of the joints are ball hinges and you can just push them back together . I will say that once all the pieces are in place , it's very solid . Nothing is flopping around or popping out where it shouldn't . The biggest problem I see is long term wear . It's just seems that as it gets broken in , some of the locking pieces won't hold as well .
With all of that being said , my son does enjoy playing with it . However , it's a little difficult to use his imagination when he has to bring me the toy and I spend the next 10 - 15 minutes transforming it . He tends to move on to something else during that time .
Overall , I gave this toy 4 stars because the design is top notch and it is very cool . However , I gave it only two stars for how fun it is to play with it . If you're looking for something that sits on a shelf and you occasionally transform ( similar to working on a puzzle ) this is a perfect fit . If you're looking for something that a child can play with on a daily basis and really use their imagination , this isn't it .
048 4 As many have stated in their reviews , this Leader Prime is notoriously difficult to transform for the first time . However , I have quickly mastered it with minimal practice .
There are only a few things I want to warn interested consumers about with this toy . The durability of some of the parts can be questionable . The red chest pieces have to be almost wrestled out of their slots to transform . They are frighteningly small and I fear that they may be prone to breakage if not handled cautiously when you are removing them . Also , the large blue sleeper panels have a pretty solid attachment when he is in truck mode . I am nervous about breaking the panels as I disconnect them . The pegs that allow the panels to split and pivot to form his shoulder blades are plastic , so you must be careful especially when disconnecting the panels from truck mode and folding them up to make his shoulder blades .
Other than that , you may just want to mind the paint ! The panels that cover the front ' nose ' of Prime's semi mode , fold in on themselves and cover part of his swords and I have noticed after regular usage , that some areas where the sword contacts the panel , the paint has been slightly damaged , although this is merely cosmetic .
I have also taken the pleasure of repainting him . . . I am a stickler for detail and there are some color errors that I had to fix . [ . . . ]
050 4 First off , this toy is NOT for small kids . If you're a parent looking for something for their less than 13 years old or so , I hope you're prepared to be transforming this figure , because your children won't be able to .
This figure is incredibly accurate to the Optimus Prime model used in the movies . Its robot form , truck mode , and transformation are all extremely detailed and designed to look just like the movie version . As a result , its transformation is extremely complicated . I mostly recommend this figure to collectors over the age of 15 . The figure is sturdy enough to be played with , I've had mine for months now and all of the joints are in good shape . Still , Hasbro has released many , many different optimus primes ( There are gravity bots and fast action battles for younger kids , and the Voyager Optimus Prime is perfect for kids who have some practice with transformers already ) . So take a look at them all and decide which is best .
On to the figure itself : This Optimus is a BIG improvement on the original leader toy from the first movie . Its only negative aspects are plastic tires ( first movie prime had rubber tires ) and no individual finger articulation ( however , this toy does not bring a gun so its not necessary ) . It has some lights and sounds ( makes the tranformation sound when part of the transformation is done ) and actually has the voice of Peter Cullen ( who voiced Optimus in both movies as well as the original 80s cartoon ) . The figure also has a swing out plastic blade on each arm ( which can get a little in the way of its possibility at times ) .
In all honesty though , if you're at all a fan of transformers toys , and think you can handle the challenge of transforming this great , great figure , BUY IT .
063 4 I just got this toy yesterday in the afternoon , and boy , was I excited !
I immediately started trying to transform it to alt mode ( truck ) while in my car , but couldn't until I got home and closely examined the pictures of the instrucion leaflet .
So , yes , this one is hard to transform the first time , especially from robot to truck mode , but then transforming it back to robot is much , much easier . I did it even without looking at the instructions . Transformation now is completely different from the old toy !
First impression is that in truck mode , it seems a bit smaller than the old TF movie Optimus Prime ( 2007 ) . This has got to do with the new proportions , which are now more accurate . Fact is , the truck about 1 / 16 longer than the old toy .
When in robot mode , it also seems smaller than the old Prime , but again it has to do with proportions - the older toy was really bulky - and the new toy is 1 taller . The robot itself is very poseable , and you can even use the piece that holds the head to swivel it up and down a bit .
I then spent the next two hours examining all the reference pictures I have from the truck and the CGI robot . . . and I can say that this is a very nice piece of engineering ( or re-engineering ) .
The truck has all the details from the real truck , and most hinges remain well hidden . All the tiny lights and reflectors are molded in quite accurately , and even the door handles have 3 bolts and a keyhole molded in the correct place ( they are just dots , but they're there ) .
The new toy is molded in brighter colors than the old one , but paint is used wery well too .
Also of note are the clear plastic tail-lights , headlights , windshield and side windows
In robot mode , again the attention to detail is amazing , and it is a very good representation of the CGI model .
Granted that the back of the toy robot still isn't the same as the movie model , but this is as close as we can get , and it still is much better than the old toy .
The only gripe I have is that in robot mode almost all the movie toys lack a lot of paint applications and resort to molded colored plastic instead : Leader Optimus's chest and feet , Deluxe Sideways's torso and Breakaway's everything .
Articulation and poseability are good , and several hinges used for the transformation can be furter used to aid certain action poses . Sadly , Hasbro cut some costs by removing some articulation , which can still be seen in the prototype photos on the back of box ; the most obvious being that Optimus's hands are now just one molded piece with no articulation .
Then again , years ahead of the old Prime toy .
I definitely recommend this toy to any TF fan or anyone that liked the movie . It is complicated at first , so 10 years or older is a safe age .
The other version being marketed right now is the Takara-Tomy version , which may be a better quality toy than Hasbro's because Takara uses better materials ( die cast metal at times , or stiffer plastic with better colors or better metallic finish ) .
I don't have the Takara toy , but I don't see much difference in the pictures , so I don't think I'll get it . I would get a second toy only if they ever release a chromed Premium Leader version like they did with old Prime .
Meanwhile , get this one . You won't regret it .
065 4 Unless you are extremely patient , or you or your kid is an engineering genius , think 10 times before you buy this product . This toy has the worst instruction I've ever seen . The instruction is a series of tiny drawings with tiny arrows that you'll need to decipher which part to move and how to do it . A caption should have helped but I think the maker of this toy was a fan of puzzles ( rubik cube ? ) and thought that those who would buy this toy were fans of puzzles as well .
Hey hasbro , next time you sell toys like this , put a tag line like challenge yourself to build this puzzle !
088 4 I purchased this Transformer for my 5 - year-old grandson . At first , he loved it ! But then he was a little disappointed when his 35 - year-old dad ( who is pretty good at this kind of stuff ) took too long to figure it out . It became a Christmas afternoon challenge for more than one adult .
Overall , the Transformer seems to be well constructed and should hold up . And complexity is part of the fun and challenge for Transformers , so it should be a good toy for the 5 - year-old ( and his dad ) .
098 4 This toy is cute . My 4 - year-old son definitely loves to play with it . But he cannot do the transformation alone . My nephew ( a 21 year old college boy ) transformed it from Prime to a truck in about 2 hours while watching Lakers game . The instruction is not very clear . It does need some imagination to do that . Once it's done , you get a beautiful truck . The first time is always the hardest . The second time should be much faster if you know which part goes to where .
I and my friend play it just now . It took my friend about 30 minutes to change it back to Prime from truck , and took me almost an hour to transform from Prime to a truck by following the instruction . Each of us worked alone . By the way , we are both experienced computer programmers and pretty handy .

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
These toys should be rated for a much older children / young adults . I am 32 years old , and I recently purchased Optimus Prime , Jetfire , and Ultimate Bumblebee for my young son who I hope will eventually appreciate these toys . However , it took me several hours focusing on each in order to transform . All very neat and intricate , but these toys should NOT be rated for 5 - year olds . I had a headache after finally transforming each into vehicle mode . Directions are somewhat helpful , but you really have to analyze each piece and image in order to make sense of all the moving parts and shapes . Youtube videos of transformation can also be helpful .
111 4 Let me start out by saying that Optimus Prime looks absolutely fantastic . . . in both robot and truck mode . Great colors and detail . When properly transformed , everything locks very securely and hold great . But the problem is getting the toy from one state to the other . As many others have noted , the 5 year old age recommendation is preposterous . It's a rare kid that would be able to perform the transformation on their own without help . Of particular note are the fact that the swords tend to pop out at inopportune times and the chest plate / windshield locking mechanism is poorly illustrated or explained . My first transformation to truck mode took the better part of an hour , although going the other direction is a good bit easier after that .
I'd be a little worried about how the joints and such would hold up if you were transforming this multiple times daily , but I can't actually claim to have seen any problems whatsoever yet . All in all , this is an impressive piece of toy engineering , especially if you view it as a challenge instead of a frustration !
119 4 With movie being a hit , this toy is going to be a very hot item in holiday season . Like other
review saids , this toy is awsome . It's very movie accurate in both robot and truck mode . But
because of that high quality , this toy may give some people nightmares of frustration . Yes I'm
talking about transforming this toy . I think there's two things needs to be corrected
and it's not on the toy.First , packaging saids ages5 + . Second , the instructions that comes with
this is worthless . Now I have other transformers toys and it comes with similar instructions .
But with this toy , it's not enough ! I mean , if your kids tries to transform this toy looking
at these instructions , their heads gonna explode ! ( parents too ! ) So I suggest parents to watch
youtube . There's video reviews posted by transformers fan . It shows you how to transform it .
And it's waaay better + fun than following these instructions paper ! If you are planning to
purchase this toy , I suggest watch youtube video and study it first . I'm sure it will help
some parents out there .
And let's make this christmas safe from frustrations and disappointments !
139 4 The Leader Optimus Prime from Revenge of the fallen is an outstanding figure that is well built , durable , and lots of fun . This is probably my favorite figure to date in regards to how well made the figure is .
I still have my original G1 Optimus Prime from the 80s , and the 25th anniversary re-release of that figure , which along with Ultimate Bumblebee , have been my favorite figures of all the ones I currently have or have owned in the past . As much as I like the 3 previously mentioned figures , this new Movie Leader Optimus Prime is probably my new favorite as a figure ( although my original G1 Prime will always be my favorite overall when considering the nostalgia factor ) .
First of all , this figure is very well made . Both modes are excellent representations of the movie character , and the incredibly complex transformation is both fun and amazing . At first , he seems a bit difficult to transform , and there are places in the instructions that really aren't clear on what needs to be done , but even with that being said , I still have to give this figure 5 stars .
Both robot and vehicle mode are sturdy , and all of the pieces fit together snugly and stay pretty tight . Even though the figure is made of plastic , it does not feel cheap in any way . The transformation takes some practice and patience at first , but once you get the hang of it , its really a lot of fun and you realize how much of a work of art that this Optimus Prime figure is .
While as others have said , I wouldn't recommend it for young children , if you're considering buying this figure at all , don't hesitate . It's well worth the money and is a great figure to have in your collection .
140 4 I would have to say , that out of all the other Transformers toys I own , this is one of my favorites . Compared to the Leader Class figure from the first movie , it is far superior . It is quite a bit less bulky , and easier to move around . Also , its robot mode is much more movie accurate than that of its predecessor , as well as its vehicle mode , which actually resembles a true semi cab , as opposed to the previous one , whose alternate mode looked rather cartoon-like .
On the downside , this toy is certainly hard to transform . The difficulty rating of 4 is somewhat of an understatement . But , I suppose there's a give-and-take . More movie accuracy means more frustrating of a transformation ( in particular , from robot to vehicle mode ) . Also , the directions don't really facilitate this . They're rather difficult to follow . I can only hope that with time , I'll be able to transform this figure as easily as the last . It's definitely a worthy challenge for those who are fans of the movie toy line .
Another thing is the flip-out energy swords . I like that they look more like they do in the movie for this toy , and that there is two of them , but I think Hasbro could've done something a little more clever with the way they extend out ( such as the way the old one used to shoot straight out , not flip around ) .
Overall , I was really impressed with this figure . However , while the box claims it is for ages 5 and up , there is no possible way a 5 year old would be able to transform this toy on their own . I would probably say that it would be pushing the cerebral limits of a 13 year old to be able to do it . Although , I think we all know by now that the Deluxe , Voyager , and Leader class figures from the movies are really intended for those that are older and / or fans of the original cartoon series , and want to be able to revisit their childhoods . And in that respect , kudos Hasbro !
152 4 I just bought this today . At first I wasn't going to because I have the Optimus Prime from the first movie , but the level of detail in this figure sold me . This one is very movie accurate in robot and vehicle mode both . The attention to detail on this figure is is extremely intracate . They did take away the ablitity to move the fingers though .
I gave Durability a 4 because some of the parts come off during transformation , but they due snap bacl on very easily .
Here is the reason I gave Fun a 4 : Do not get this toy for a very young child though . I gaurantee that the child would have no fun with this toy . The direction are absolutely horrendous . This was one thing that Hasbro did not improve on . It took me a few hours to figure out how to transform Optimus from robot to vehicle mode .
Overall though , a great figure for those like me who are collecting figures from the movie . I would also recommend the other figure as well . I have also bought most of those from ROTF .
156 4 His name is Optimus Prime ! He's the leader of the Autobots and an all around awesome guy . This is Optimus ' leader class Revenge of the Fallen figure and it's pretty sweet .
For Kids :
160 4 Just got my Revenge of the fallen Optimus prime today on my lunch hour .
when i first saw spy pics on this version of prime . . you really couldnt see the detail . . now that i have him sitting on my desk . . it was WORTH the wait ! he was always my favorite transformer .
this Transformers 2 version is far superior than the first movie's Prime ( its still a great depiction though ) . . when you look at this one you'll see right away that its Optimus . Its virtually cg accurate to his screen self . its the real deal .
The quality is incredible . . it ranks right up there with the masterpiece Optimus Prime ( which i have standing next to this one )
the plastic is more durable . . . he feels solid and well built . . . but i still wouldnt let little 5 yr old johnny , play with this unless he has an engineering degree . cause some parts can be fragile during transformation . these are made with the collectors in mind , and rightfully so . if you were around during the generation one era you know what im talking about . i got 2 of these one thats staying sealed in the box and the other is for display .
the paint job is more movie accurate . its also great that he has an autobot symbol on his chest . . i like the swords that come out for battle , but i wish they would at least have given him his trademark blaster rifle though . . but this works also .
the moving gears feature is also a unique addition . . you can tell that alot of thought was put into this Prime . takara / hasbro has a winner here . . . no wonder hes flying off the shelves .
the icing on the cake is that they incorporated actor Peter Cullen's voice too ! for the sound bite saying I am Optimus prime ! when you press the try me button . . . you press it his eyes flash , chest rises and lights up as he introduces himself in his majestic / regal voice . that we all know and love .
for you non gen one fans . . Peter cullen was the voice of Prime in the marvel / sunbow Transformers animated series . . . whis is really the only REAL transformers series period . they made a wise move in getting him to reprise prime for the films .
i cant say enough good things about this autobot . . . if you get only one transformer from the Revenge of the Fallen line . . . this is the one to get . you wont regret it .
pros : peter cullens voice ( nobody else can play prime )
Movie accurate in robot and semi truck modes
pretty good articulation / excellent attention to detail
Packaging is better this time around
cons : well only one . . no rubber Desert Dog tires .
Autobots , transform and ROLL OUT !

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
This hands down the best Transformers toy I have ever bought . It is painfully obvious alot of time and effort went into the design and
169 4 This Optimus Prime toy is a lot of fun and a great display piece . Here are the pros and cons of the figure :
Pros
* Strong likeness to the character in the movie in both modes - - - - which is no easy feat seeing the complex transformation in the movie .
* Peter Cullen , the voice of the original Optimus Prime , has had his voice recorded for this toy . He says , I am Optimus Prime .
* Combines with Leader Class Jetfire ( which I have yet to find ) .
Cons
* The paint details are a little lacking . A lot of the sculpted detail in the toy goes unnoticed as a result .
* The instructions are not very clear in transforming the toy .
* It would have been nice if the voice chip said something less obvious like , Autobots , transform and roll out .
Apparently there will be another version of this toy released with a different head and a gun . It would have been nice to have the gun with this release .
Over all , I really like this toy . I am a Transformer collector and I'm not buying very much from the new movie but I do recommend this one .
172 4 All I have to say I was disappointed with both movies . . . given that . . . the action figures are top . I got this for myself ( I know my husband will swipe it from me b / c he's a fan boy like myself : )
Optimus Prime is just that > he's prime

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
Let me start off by saying that I'm almost 30 years old . When I was a little kid I always wanted an Optimus Prime toy but never got it . So now that I'm a big boy I figured I would go ahead and fulfill my childhood wishes and get this new Optimus Prime . Let me say this : as a display toy this is a really cool action figure . I think it looks really cool . I had no intention of leaving it in the truck form but figured I would try to transform it to its truck form just to check it out . IDK whether its the rum and cokes or maybe I'm just retarded but I just couldn't transform it . I tried to follow the instructions but I couldn't get past the first step . I then turned to Youtube and had a little more success but gave up after a while .
If you're buying this for a child that actually wants to play with it and transform it back and forth I would not suggest this toy . It is waaaaaaay to difficult to transform . If you're getting it for yourself or for a child that is a rocket scientist go for it !

179 4 First of all , ignore what the box says , because this toy is NOT for kids age 5 . It's very complicated and requires a lot of patience . However , if your kid has that patience , or is intrigued by toy engineering , this toy is great .
It is fully detailed , and has a fantastic transformation which is unique and intuitive . It is also well articulated and has strong joints for poseability . The electronic features work wonderfully , and the toy looks good in both Truck and Robot modes .
For younger children , toys such as the Fast Action Battlers , the Legends , or the Voyager Class Optimus Primes are more appropriate due to their relative simplicity . However , older children will greatly appreciate this Leader Class version , because it is one of the most innovative and detailed transformers ever seen . Highly Recommended !
182 4 I was excited to give this to my son for his 5th birthday . He loves putting things together .
This is just way over the top . Even with the directions it's difficult for his dad ( who is also good at putting things together ) .
Stick with the more juvenile Transformer toys . Pieces fall off , break , etc and it's only been two weeks .
Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
First off I would say the attention to detail is excellent for this model of Optimus Prime .

This is a great toy !

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
First off , this toy is NOT for small kids .

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
When I first spied leaked photos of this figure , it was difficult to imagine they could make such a toy transform tightly into the truck that we all know .

First off , this toy is NOT for small kids .

If do you have the Optimus Prime's first movie ? . . . You must to get inmediatly this new Prime , It looks as the real itself . It's has 2 lethal swords for to destroy every decepticon who wants to stop it . As Jetfire , you can enjoy its lights and truck sounds and hear its incredible voice ! ! ! !
Our Optimus Prime leader come a powerfull warrior if you attach it with Jetfire Leader , Its colors are fine and you'll spend longtime before for to transform it because you must to follow every step perfectly .
Like me . . . But Optimus Prime and Jetfire together and you'll have a good time and to revive the best movie's scenes

058 4 Big improvement over the first Leader Class Prime from the first Transformers . Excellent detail and close to accurate to the CGI model of Prime . Transforming him is a little difficult and the directions are not really that clear . If your having problems transforming him , go on youtube and watch a video . . . they do help .

Well , first off let me say , WOW , this figure is awesome ! I don't own the previous OP but can definitely tell this one is way better and movie accurate . If you're a fan and collector , you need this one . When transforming he does tend to say I'm am Optimus Prime alot but I learned how not to mess with the head . The knives on the arms like to come out but aren't too bothersome . This is a must get !

First thing I want to mention is the posted age limit of 5 years for this toy .

023 4 My two sons love transformers and I thought this would be a great gift for both to share . WRONG . . Once out of the box it took ME close to 45 minutes to understand the directions to transform it from a robot to a truck . Once I figured it out , it kept breaking apart and didn't stay in the truck position long enough to play with it . Once again , more time to transform it back to Optimus and then his foot kept falling off . My sons love it because it is Optimus but for the money it is not worth it .

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
This toy should go to the right kind of person : someone who's patient , loves a challenge , and likes a good transformation .

I bought this for my 3 year old son because he loves Transformers and he loves to tinker with things .

As many have stated in their reviews , this Leader Prime is notoriously difficult to transform for the first time .

075 4 While this toy is very detailed and good for older kids ( like toy collectors ) , it's way too complicated to transform for probably any kid under 10 years old . Even with the pictured instruction sheet , I had to search for and watch a You Tube video on how to transform it from the robot to a truck ( comes in robot form out of the box ) . My 4 - year old only played with it only once or twice while he was watching the movie on DVD .
101 4 This is a good toy . It looks great as a robot and as a truck . The parts are solid and the fact the some pieces snap off instead of breaking is a plus . If your child loves transformers he will love this toy . The only down side to this toy is the actual work needed to transform it . The directions are not well illustrated and can be frustrating to follow . I finally gave up and looked up the toy on youtube and found video directions . This was very helpful and after a couple of practice transformations , made the toy much more user friendly . My son is 8yrs old and loves this toy , but he still needs my help transforming it correctly . With more practice he should be able to do it by himself in no time .
137 4 My son really likes this toy and plays with it often . It has some durability , although he says he has trouble getting the head to snap in place when transforming into a truck . Parts seemed to come off , but are easily replaced to their original position and stay . Overall , a good toy for my boy .
165 4 I am an Autbot girl , through and through . Love the Autobots , particularly , Optimus and Bumblebee . I saw the reviews on this , and since I couldn't find it in stores , decided to take a chance to get it online . Since I have Optimus in truck form , I knew that I would never transform this buddy . Thank goodness , because it was hard enough to get him upright in Autobot robot mode ! Phew ! But he's wonderful ! He says one thing : I am Optimus Prime . But it's Peter Cullen's voice , so that's enough for me . His chest lights up , as well as his eyes . And you can see his actual gears in his chest . Not to mention the detail is good , especially for an actual figure . I follwed the pictures online ( thank you for the customer who posted the pictures , thank GOD ) . And now he's going to join the other Autobots on my Entertainment Center lol . Not to be touched , of course . I collect these buddies , love ' em . My suggestion ? This is for people who wish to collect this only , not as a toy . Because you will be frustrated to boot , and your kid will want to throw poor Optimus out the window . Poor Opty-chan : - ( .
174 4 My husband purchased the Optimus Prime Transformer for our 5 year old son , and it's AWFUL ! ! ! No one in our house can figure it out . My husband is probably the only one who could figure it out and that's cause he is an engineer with a degree in physics , and he doesn't have time to even try . I am so frustrated with Hasbro and their smarty-pants developers who came up with this design . IT STINKS ! ! It's cheap plastic with parts that pop off and the instructions look like it was sketched in pencil and xerox copied-who can read that ? Impossible to make out any detail in order to convert Optimus into a truck . I hate disappointing my children , and it has been a big disappointment to them knowing that it's been a half a day and Mommy still cant convert this dawg-on toy into a TRUCK ! ! Thanks a lot for the happy memories Hasbro ! ! ! PS - I am so glad to find Mommies and Daddies out there who are having the same problems I am . Most of the collectors seem to be in a reality vacuum .
189 4 I wish I had the time and money back . This toy was completely frustrating to transform and never snapped close to form the truck . The insructions are worthless . My kindergartener loves transformers , but was very dissapointed with this toy . It looks great in the box , but is definitley not for a 6 year old . ( Or the Mom of a 6 year old ! )
Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
His name is Optimus Prime ! He's the leader of the Autobots and an all around awesome guy . This is Optimus ' leader class Revenge of the Fallen figure and it's pretty sweet .
For Kids :
Not for the impatient .

. . . . . because they can't play with it by themselves .

I bought this toy for my 6 year old nephew for his birthday since he only recently discovered a love of Transformers and didn't own any yet . ! !

I have been a Transformers fan for many years now , and all the toys I have collected over the years were alright .

This toy is so difficult for a 5 year old to put together .

My son is 8yrs old and loves this toy , but he still needs my help transforming it correctly . With more practice he should be able to do it by himself in no time .

This is a good toy . Let me start out by saying that Optimus Prime looks absolutely fantastic . . . in both robot and truck mode .

My son really likes this toy and plays with it often . It has some durability , although he says he has trouble getting the head to snap in place when transforming into a truck . Parts seemed to come off , but are easily replaced to their original position and stay . Overall , a good toy for my boy .

His name is Optimus Prime ! He's the leader of the Autobots and an all around awesome guy . This is Optimus ' leader class Revenge of the Fallen figure and it's pretty sweet .
For Kids :

I wish I had the time and money back . This toy was completely frustrating to transform and never snapped close to form the truck . The insructions are worthless . My kindergartener loves transformers , but was very dissapointed with this toy . It looks great in the box , but is definitley not for a 6 year old . ( Or the Mom of a 6 year old ! )

This toy was purchased for my 5 1 / 2 year old grandson . !

I am an Autbot girl , through and through .

My 6 yrs old son got a HASBRO Optimus Prime Autobot 89167 / 83973 Revenge of the Fallen as a birthday gift , as it shows AGES 5 + . Looks good inside the box but it turned out to be completing frustrating for him and for everybody .
I lost my money .

The instructions are completely inadequate ; plan to visit YouTube to be able to transform back and forth . Absolutely not a toy for preadolescent children . It's overpriced , flimsy plastic crap .

Big improvement over the first Leader Class Prime from the first Transformers . Excellent detail and close to accurate to the CGI model of Prime . Transforming him is a little difficult and the directions are not really that clear . If your having problems transforming him , go on youtube and watch a video . . . they do help .

All I have to say I was disappointed with both movies . . . given that . . . the action figures are top . I got this for myself ( I know my husband will swipe it from me b / c he's a fan boy like myself : )
Optimus Prime is just that > he's prime

My husband purchased the Optimus Prime Transformer for our 5 year old son , and it's AWFUL ! !

I bought this toy for my six years old boy ( Camilo ) on September 24th and even after a week of usage , he would not believe such a great quality on details . This toys is completely similar to the Optimus Prime character form ROTF movie . Face , legs , hands , sword , chest , movie sounds , painted flames become a part of a masterpiece of modern technology art . However the user guide to transforms from robot to truck is a trully deception . It's design and quality product contrast with the complexity to trasform to truck and returning back . I needed more than hour to transform it to Truck by the first time and viceversa . Obviously it is NOT a toy for Ages 5 + as printe on the box ; although its superior quality ( not even compared with chinese copies ) . You should NOT buy this toy if the final user is a heavy-hands-boy or you will not spend time enought to the first five transformations . In the other hand , it's product quality is a clear invitation complete the entire collection . You can bet , I will buy all toys as soon as I can .

I pruchased this for my 5 year old for his birthday this was the one gift he had to have . He loves it BUT it is hard for him to know just how to make it work . It took about 2 hours to figure out by an adult and teenager . It now sits on a shelf in his room . He still plays with it - but as far as changing it from one thing to another not a good purchase for him .

Bought this for my 6 yr old grandson . No kid or adult has been able to figure out how to transform it between a truck and the figure - even with the horrible instructions of 25 + steps . Now it is neither because no-one can figure out how to even get it back to it's original state . Car mechanic also gave up . It is far worse than the rubix cube !

I just bought this today .

I myself am 20 years old and my cousin who owns this toy is 11 . I have loved transformers all my life and have played with them for over half of my life . This transformer is by far the hardest to transform ! Hasbro has made them so much cheaper than when I was little and played with them . He and I have spent the last two hours trying to turn this blasted thing into the truck , failing at every attempt . The quality , playability , and durability of these toys have greatly deminished since I last played with one . Hasbro has focused too much on the looks of the transformers , which is the only cool thing about them and the only reason this one even got one star , and stopped caring about whether the children can have fun playing with them . So think twice before buying this toy for your children , grandchildren , nephews , neices , cousins , or any other young one who could possibly like this toy . BOO HASBRO ! ! ! BOOO ! ! ! ! ! ! !
033 4 I bought this for my son . He is eight . He is a huge fan of Transformers and has many of them , but this is one of his favorite .

Unless you are extremely patient , or you or your kid is an engineering genius , think 10 times before you buy this product .
106 4 This is one of the coolest Optimus Prime's out there . He's very limber , yet , he is also one of the toughest Transformers to transform . He is the first one I couldn't transform . I couldn't do it for two weeks ! I thought he was broke ! The instructions arent clear . I finally saw a YouTube video that explained the transform , he got a whole lot cooler ! You'll like em once you get the tranform down .
144 4 This toy has way more options than the original . I only bought it for a friend that collects them . He was very pleased , especially with the voice feature . Shipping was on time .

I think my anger and frustration for this toy has finally abated to the point that I can give a rational review .

I just got this toy yesterday in the afternoon , and boy , was I excited !

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
With movie being a hit , this toy is going to be a very hot item in holiday season . Like other
review saids , this toy is awsome .

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
I've been collecting transformers since I was a kid and if there's one thing I've ALWAYS hated about the toys up until now , it's that the product never accurately matched up with the character on the screen . Now , keep in mind that back in my day , things like what we see in CGI films like Transformers weren't at all possible . . . but Takara Tomy finally broke that depressing streak with THIS figure . This has got to be the most impressive example of planning upon planning for a perfected design that features an extremely complex transformation ( at first ) - but after the first few times you get the steps down pretty easily ( only took me a few days ) . If you compare the 2007 model / version of this figure to the newly redesigned 09 ' model - you'll see a SIGNIFICANT difference in character comparison . This IS Optimus Prime , not just some inaccurate toy , it's so close to the CGI character that I don't see any mistakes in the design - if anything it's PERFECT . Every detail matches up with the CGI design so well that it's just AWSOME ! The toy is durable , AND when you transform it , parts don't rub against each other and mess up the paint job - which i know some perfectionist collectors ABSOLUTELY hate . Buy this figure , because I honestly don't think you'll ever find another TF product this close to character / toy accuracy ! BUT , i will say this - if you're a real collector and you want character / toy accuracy . . . go with the Takara Tomy version instead of the Hasbro version . The Takara Tomy version's name is RA - 01 Optimus Prime and you can find him on the web in plenty of online stores . Get that version , because if you look closely you'll see that it's paintjob is actually correct while Hasbro's model has some of it's parts painted red instead of silver - don't settle for that lol . Mkay , well - happy hunting and have fun with this product !

Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
This leader class Optimus Prime is without a doubt one of the best Primes you will find on the market today . He has two fantastic modes and is so accurate to the CGI design it's kind of scary .
In vehicle mode you get the standard Peter built truck that the live action films have been using for Prime . It is a solid vehicle and although it has plastic tires instead of the rubber ones from the ' 07 version , he still makes a better truck . This has mostly to do with weapon storage . The first leader class Prime had his ion blaster or sword stowed on the back of the truck making it rather obvious that this truck is packing some firepower . However , the 2009 version keeps his flip-out swords stashed safely in his engine making sure that no one sees the robot in disguise !
Now for the transformation , I'm not going to lie , it is difficult . ATTENTION PARENTS : IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD ARE NOT EXPERIENCED TRANSFORMER COLLECTORS BE ADVISED THAT THIS TRANSFORMATION MAY BE MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE ! ! ! KEEP THE INSTRUCTIONS HANDY AND WATCH SOME REVIEWS ON YOUTUBE FOR DETAILED TRANSFORMATION GUIDELINES ! ! ! ! Even though the transformation is hard you have to work through it and you will have a great transformer . Practice the transformation and get to know what this guy can handle to minimize risk of breakage .
After the transformation your hard work pays off big time in a spectacular robot mode . This robot is almost a PERFECT representation of the CGI autobot leader ! You may find yourself wondering just how someone could fit this massive bot into that Peter built truck from before . He features some spectacular articulation , double energy swords and Peter Cullins voice telling every decepticon on the field just whom they are dealing with !

This Optimus Figure is outstanding , i love the truck and robot modes . Both Modes are very accurate to the ROTF Movie Prime . If you have $50 to spend and you're looking for a Transformer toy GET THIS LEADER CLASS FIGURE you won't be dissapointed although its Transformation is CRAZY ! ! ! ! ! !
Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
The Leader Optimus Prime from Revenge of the fallen is an outstanding figure that is well built , durable , and lots of fun .

Whoever said a 5 year old could handle this was mistaken . It took 3 adults all afternoon to turn it into a truck , and now my son wants it a man . Directions are worthless .

I don't know about us adults but my 12 year old son transformed his Optimus Prime without the directions , in the car , kid you not !

I purchased this Transformer for my 5 - year-old grandson .

Youtube videos of transformation can also be helpful .

i pre-ordered this toy like , two weeks back , it looked like it was going to be the best in the toy line . And I'm pretty sure it IS ! This toy is ( as the title suggests ) AMAZING ! I really like the flip out blade feature . unlike most transformer toys not a whole lot actually pops off . Once in a great while the foot will fall off , but it's not at all often . I got several from the new toy line and and from the 2007 movie line , and this is the best figure I own , hands down ! The transformation is tricky to say the least ( I spent two hours trying to get it to truck mode ) but once you do it a couple times it gets easier . It really is a battle ready toy as well , It is sturdy and easy to pose . And unlike some where you have one pose and a kid couldn't really play with it , this one is perfect for that ! Especially if you have Leader class Megatron ! Anyway , overall an AMAZING toy ! !

I am a 33 year old male who hasnt purchased a toy in ages . But when I saw this toy , it reminded me of my childhood when I used to be crazy about transformers . After I bought it I realize that its such a complex and well made toy . When I opened it , I tried to transform it without the directions and it took me an hour before I gave up . Had to actually look at the youtube movie to get it 100% right .
Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
This is truely the figure to get out of all of the Transformers ROTF toys . Brilliantly reimagined with a painstaking transformation not recommended for children under 10 years . Also the lack of pin and hinge support is apparent when parts suddenly pop off but can just as easily be put back on . Also the fingers are not articulated like the last one and it has plastic tires . But these are very minor flaws considering the accuracy of the robot / truck mode . All I can say is that this IS the definitive , though pricier , movie leader class Optimus Prime . Go through amazon , they are a very trustworthy organization for things like these . They find the very best possible in terms of quality and steadfast service . Those are the values that I found anyway . the toy iteself is approximatly 13 ' inches tall , slightly taller than the last film's Optimus Prime . Very detailed with a really cool gimmic called Mech Alive . That means that they have incorporated very good design features to where actual moving gears that would normally be seen in their films counterparts , are found in the figures themselves . Improved animatic strips away the separating windows , pop-up head & space laser noise , with something more refined . With chest piece pushed down , his torso moves with startling realizm as if he were talking a deep breath to say a simple line , I AM OPTIMUS PRIME in Peter Cullen's actual voice no less ( Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime for those of you who don't already know that ) . Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
First off I would say the attention to detail is excellent for this model of Optimus Prime .
Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
This Optimus Prime toy is a lot of fun and a great display piece .
018 4 The instructions are completely inadequate ; plan to visit YouTube to be able to transform back and forth . Absolutely not a toy for preadolescent children . It's overpriced , flimsy plastic crap .
128 4 I bought this toy for my six years old boy ( Camilo ) on September 24th and even after a week of usage , he would not believe such a great quality on details .

First of all , ignore what the box says , because this toy is NOT for kids age 5 .
Transformers Leader Optimus Prime ( Toy )
This toy has a voice chip that says I am Optimus Prime .

This toy is an awesome toy !

Idea is really good , but execution is terrible . It is almost impossible to transform from one stage to another without instruction , but instruction is not very clear . Even you follow all steps carefully , it does not guarantee the success .

I never write reviews , but this toy is really a waist of money . It frustrates our 5 year because he cannot transform the toy at all . Its taken us 5 days to figure out how to transform the toy and it does not hold its form when you play with it . It was a big deal for our son to get this for Christmas and it is really disappointing .

This toy has a voice chip that says I am Optimus Prime .

This is one of the coolest Optimus Prime's out there .

I absolutely love this transformer , my wife gave it to my as a birthday present , couldn't have asked for more , first time I got it it took me a while to figure it out how to transform it , ironically I don't think it is a toy for kids , it's too complicated , my 8 year old daughter likes the transformers too , but she totally doesn't like this one because it's too complicated for her , so I highly recommend this toy for an adult fan , the arms and the legs are posable , and it has a lot of joints so you can do so , and it's joints are very tight so it holds still in the desired pose so you can display it any way you want , you can pretty much do any pose with him , when in truck mode it doesn't look like it becomes the amazing optimus prime , it actually looks like an absolutely normal truck , no signs of plastic panels , everything it's so well disguised which makes it even more interesting , it actually comes with 3 different sounds , when in truck mode , an engine that goes on an on , when transforming , it does the transformation sound effect , and when in robot it says I am optimus prime , with the real movie voice , as I've said highly recommend this toy for an adult fan , absolutely outstanding figure

Gosh optimus prime isn't what he used to be , since the movie has buffed him and made him such a big character the toy is none the less .

This is one of the most detailed , movie accurate , and greatest transformers toy ever made ! The transformation can be a pain the first time , an I nearly spent two hours watching the video and transformation on youtube ! but it was worth it . Sometimes pieces will pop off and putting them back on can be a pain , but overall , this thing is amazing .

This toy is cute .

It's not easy to transform to a truck even for an adult , but it looks awesome when it finished . I love it !
