I loved my old Pokemon Pikachu virtual buddy . He went with me just about everywhere , my cherished adult secret which only a few close friends knew about ( I'm 36 if that tells you anything ! ) Anyway , I got the new one and while I still wear my old Pikachu when jogging or working out ( the BEST way to rack up watts , especially on a 6 - mile run ) the new colors , sounds and the chance to play a version of Blackjack rather than the slot machine game on the previous Pikachu really won me over .
But brother . . . DO NOT get Pika mad at you on this one . It's even WORSE trying to get him to like you again and , until he does , he calls you MEANIE . . . most likely with full justification . : )
A great Pikachu toy for anyone - plus for me , it encourages me to work out because I know that if I don't , Pika might get mad . . . ( Hey , whatever works , right ? )

I have been wanting a Pokemon Pocket Pikachu 2 for a LONG time but have totally forgotten over the years of how much I wanted it . This guy is great and funny ! You start out as playmates , and you have to earn watts by running , jumping , walking , or giving to your mom and ask her to walk with it ( I am 9 ! ) . Work your way up to friends , and DO NOT ignore it ! It will turn into a playmate again , meanie , and STRANGER ! I love my Pika and you should buy one , too !

This Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS is fun and I've had it for years now but I can never get Pikachu to be my friend . No matter how much watts I give him he still remains at calling me a MEANIE . I walk with it and was very active carrying it with me everywhere but I never accumlated enough watts . I tried to play the Higher or Lower game but I lose more than I win . Is there anyone who can zap me a huge amount of watts or at least give me a clue to win Pikachu over easily ? = /

I'm a mother of 5 and a collector of virtual pets for years ( mostly tamagotchi ) . I've got both versions of Pikachu and I am very happy with the new one . Besides the obvious improvement in color , his animations are more complex and detailed , the sounds are better etc . . . I love the programable alarm feature . It allows you to create your own tunes for the alarm clock , using alphabetical musical notes . I programmed mine to play jingle bells last week and then yesterday I programmed in the theme song from Star Wars !
The gambling game is much easier to win and more fun to play than the slot machine ( from the original version ) . Pikachu shows you a playing card and you have to guess whether the next card will be higher or lower than the one he's holding . Each play costs 5 watts . A first correct guess wins you 8 watts , however , if you choose not to collect your winnings just yet , you can continue guessing and the winning increments start to balloon ( much larger than if you play one game at a time ) . Example . . .5th round = 40w , 6th round = 55w , 7th round = 77w , 8th round = 100w , etc . . . By the way . . . . you'll alway's know whether you want to risk it and go further , because the last card that was shown will be the first card in the next round . However , it only works that way when you keep going . If you cash in and start over , you won't know what the first card will be .
The cool thing about this one is , no matter how many rounds you play in * one * game , if you lose in the middle of a round , you only really lose the 5 watts you bet with . It's true you will forfeit any watts that were accumulating during the game , but at least they don't come out of your * own * pocket . In other words , you're only 5 watts less from where you started . Of course you can stop any time you're unsure about going on and the watts are automatically saved ( they're yours now ) . Each time you cash in and start over , it's another 5 watts for a new game .
Being a mother of 5 children and a toy collector myself , my standards for quality are quite strict . This toy definitely meets my standards for originality , creativity , quality of workmanship , durablility and level of enjoyment .
Btw , there is also a pink Hello Kitty version of this toy . Although it's not in color , I think it's even better than Pikachu . . . . there's lots more surprises in it and more things for * us * to do . However , it was only sold in Japan , so you can probably only find them on ebay.com ( where I got mine ) . Keep in mind that the instructions are in Japanese . But if you're familiar with Pikachu , then you'll have very little trouble figuring out the Hello Kitty version . Hope this review was helpful : - )

This toy is adorable ! I am a 25 year-old pokemon addict , so of course I bought the Pikachu 2 as soon as I could find it . The directions that accompany the product are very good , so it was easy to set Pikachu up and start playing . The animation is great , I love watching Pikachu go through his daily activities , and you can play with him by giving him watts . You build up watts by walking , running , climbing stairs , etc . Pikachu is not happy unless he has A LOT of watts , so it this toy is a great exercise motivator . The sounds are better and more complex , you can adjust the color and Pikachu is doing more stuff to entertain you . The Pedometer is more precise and the fact that you can give or received watts is good to teach us about sharing ! the colors is also good it makes Pikachu more real , the only thing i would like to hear is a little Pika Pika from Pikachu ! : ) maybe in the version 3 : )

This Pikachu is way more awsome than the original . I like that there is a small veriety of games . The color is neat to . One of the best parts about it is that alarm clock melody . I have a couple of friends that have Pikachu 2 . Whenever we see each other we have a blast trading watts . If you have a game boy color and Pokemon Gold or Silver , give Gold or Silver watts and check out what happens . Like I said Pikachu 2 is way better than the original . This Pikachu Pet is soooooo sweet ! Definetly worth buying .

When you first see this thing , you think Great , another Tomogotchi , but it's a lot more than that . With most virtual pets , you have to feed them , clean up after them , wake up at 2 : 36 am make them stop whining , etc . All that stuff has nothing to do with the PP2 . All you have to do with this thing is make it happy by giving it watts . There are two ways in which to earn watts : take it for a walk or just shake it ( you get one watt for every 20 steps or shakes ) , or use the watts you got by taking it for a walk and use those to win bigger amounts of watts with the simple ( yet strangely addicting ) card game for 5 watts a pop . You can also compose your own little melodies for the alarm , which I think is pretty slick . Watching what Pikachu does throughout the day is interesting . One of the coolest things about PP2 is its red IR port on top . With it , you can send or receive watts to other PP2s . What's really cool is if you have Pokemon Gold or Silver and a Gameboy Color , you can transfer watts to GS to get items . The items are pretty poor considering the amount of watts you have to give to earn them , but its fun as a novelty . I do have a few gripes about PP2 , however . It can be difficult at times to get the right color setting to adjust to the light source your using , for one . It takes LOTS of watts to make Pikachu really happy . Also , it's pretty hard to make a good alarm melody . And as I said earlier , the items you get for transferring them to GS are relatively poor . Overall though , this little package is more entertaining than you would expect from a virtual pet . If you enjoyed the first PP , definitely consider picking this one up .

This has got to be one of the best birthday presents I got this year ! One of my favorite Pokemon is Pikachu ( the other is Mewtwo ) and I get to see him everywhere I go . The Pikachu in this verson seems to be more friendly and less demanding than the previous verson . Also , they added even more actions to Pikachu so you never know what Pikachu will do next . Each hour , Pikachu does something different . Also , it measures how many step you take and if you go twenty steps , you earn one watt . If you give the watts you earn to Pikachu , Pikachu will be more happy and your relation ship gets even closer . They also changed the slot machine to a mini Card Sharks game . When Pikachu flips a card , you have to guess if the next card will be higher or lower . If you are correct , you earn even more watts for Pikachu . If the card is the same , you still win . I like this better than the slot machine because I can't win on that . This is so much easier and you don't get a headace from watching numbers spin around and around . I added a key chain to my Pikachu because one time I was running and Pikachu fell off . I found it again , and decided that I should make sure it didn't happen again . Now I clip a clip onto my belt loop that is attached to Pikachu so that if Pikachu does fall off again , it will still be attached to me . You can also make a costum alarm on your Pikachu with your own melody . I have mine onto the Pokemon theme . My cosins love it , too . They are always asking what Pikachu is doing and I even let them shake Pikachu to earn more watts . I walk a lot , too . I like to walk with my friend while she walks her dog . Now that I have Pikachu , I seem to want to walk more and more . I think that this toy is for any age and that this product is worth the money . It is so cool ! !

If you give the watts you earn to Pikachu , Pikachu will be more happy and your relation ship gets even closer . They also changed the slot machine to a mini Card Sharks game . When Pikachu flips a card , you have to guess if the next card will be higher or lower . If you are correct , you earn even more watts for Pikachu . If the card is the same , you still win . I like this better than the slot machine because I can't win on that . This is so much easier and you don't get a headace from watching numbers spin around and around . I added a key chain to my Pikachu because one time I was running and Pikachu fell off . I found it again , and decided that I should make sure it didn't happen again . Now I clip a clip onto my belt loop that is attached to Pikachu so that if Pikachu does fall off again , it will still be attached to me . You can also make a costum alarm on your Pikachu with your own melody . I have mine onto the Pokemon theme . My cosins love it , too . They are always asking what Pikachu is doing and I even let them shake Pikachu to earn more watts . I walk a lot , too . I like to walk with my friend while she walks her dog . Now that I have Pikachu , I seem to want to walk more and more . I think that this toy is for any age and that this product is worth the money . It is so cool ! !

I have both the original Pikachu , and the Pikachu 2 GS . Each has something in its favor , but I think the Pikachu 2 could be better than it is . First , it is more difficult to earn a lot of watts , and Pika 2 wants at least 200 watts at a time . Less than that , and he looks bored . Second , they should have included a calendar : my Pika 2 hasn't started school yet , but the old one had to go to school on weekends and holidays . . . . not fair ! The Pika 2 does new and interesting things , but most of the time he just stands there ; it looks as though you get two different activities per hour , and after that , he just stands there . I think the activities should be more frequent , and more random . I miss the bedtime and wake-up routines that the first one had . Pika 2 is awake promptly at 7 AM , and asleep promptly at 9 PM , with no preparation for either event . 026 4 I think that this version of Pocket Pikachu is really fun , especially the fac that it is in color ^ ^ and the graphics are very well done.You can also transfer watts from Pikachu to Pikachu and to Pokemon Gold and Silver . I think that the first edition of Pocket Pikachu was better than the second version because the second version doesn't seem to grow up like the first one . It just does the same things over and over again . It also isn't nearly as durable . I've had my first edition for over 2 years and its barely scratched . The second one I've had for about half that time and it's pretty beat up . I think that this toy is still really fun because you don't have to feed it and constantly take care of it , but the first edition was better .

030 4 My friend got me hooked on this Pikachu toy and now we all own it ! Its a lot of fun to take care of Pikachu and play the special mini game with him . It also pushes you to reach 100,000 steps to hear the special song ! Its a great way to work out and have fun at the same time ! ! I think the new improved pIkachu devise is very exciting and has an educational part built in.It teaches you how to share with it's red transfer spot . You can trade watts and recieve watts . I don't have 1 yet but i want one for christmas . I have the old version but it doesn't sound as near as cool as the second on does . It also has color for a more fun way to play .

The first one I had gotten at EB Games for 7 dollars back in 2001 , broke when it suffered a hard fall a year later . Eight years later it has become a rare item that is increasingly becoming hard to find . I like that the user has an incentive to workout , walk , or run to generate electronic watts that can be given to Pikachu increasing the bond between trainer and Pikachu . This toy can help expose kids to a healthier lifestyle by striving to take 10000 steps everyday . I wish this toy was still being made by Nintendo . Overall , a great product that I would recommend to anybody .

( hint : I sent 999 watts to mine and I got a rare candy . ) The card game on this one is easier than the slot machine on the previous Pikachu virtual pet , and you also don't have to take care of it constantly like the other one . It is pretty easily satisfied and doesn't seem to get too annoying . Teach it a song and set it for your alarm clock ! It's perfect for anyone of ANY age who is easily amused .
