AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener

  • 019 4  I decided to buy this Accusharp hand held sharpener after ruining too many knives on my old grinding wheel . There are quite a few hand held , compact knife sharperners on Amazon to choose from . However now that I have had this Accusharp for a while , I feel I have made an excellent choice . The Accusharp is just about as simple as they come by design , and to use . The tough carbide sharpening stone does an excellent job with minimal pressure in sharpening any blade with just 3 or 4 light strokes . As soon as I got it I used it not only on all my kitchen knives , but on my various hunting knives as well . I also own a collection of bowie knives ranging from 9 to 16 inches in length . It did an excellent job on all the blades , regardless of the length , style , and width . ( The heavier blades requiring just a little more pressure ) . The package directions direct one to place the knifes sharp side up on a counter and to drag the sharpener over the blade . Though I fully realize that their intention was to maximize safety on behalf of the consumer , I found it a little easier to use by holding the knife in one hand sharp side up , and then drawing the sharpener over the blade in that manner . But thats just me , you may not feel the same way . This position however does not apply to any really heavy , long bladed knives . It is best in the case of a very large knife , ( and of course safer ) , to follow the package directions and lay it on a counter as directed . Although if you use the sharpener correctly it is very hard to actually scrape your knuckles against the blade , a nylon guard between you and the knife prevents that in any event . The very shape of the sharpener puts your knuckles pointing away from the blade . The Accusharp is comfortable , convenient , very easy to use , and most importantly , gets every knife blade I used it on extremely sharp . I am most satisfied with it . In conclusion , though some other reviewers here spoke negatively of this unit not providing as fine an edge as old fashioned honing with oil and stone would , personally I do not feel that is the point , or the promise of this sharpener . Any blade can be made into a finer shaving worthy edge with a whetstone system . That is if we all had an ample amount of time to spare and nothing else better to do . And I also have not experienced any of my knives staying any less sharp and needing more sharpening with the Accusharp as some other reviewers have made a note of . Personally I feel an edge is an edge and the length of time it stays that way has a lot more to do with the knives quality , rather than the tool or system used to get it that way . One last observation , the Accusharp sharpening stone is reversible . Meaning that after hundreds of uses when the original side starts to wear down and taking more time to do its thing , you can open the handle and reverse the stone , thus essentially starting off with a brand new sharpener all over again . I think this sharpener is excellent and does a very fine job . Its reasonably priced , and , ( at the time of this writing ) , can be combined with something else for free shipping here on Amazon . I think its all the sharpener most of us will ever need and highly recommend it . . .
    • 001 4  I am sharpener impaired , and have bought lots of stones and sharpeners spending a bunch ( $200 plus in all ) This thing puts a great edge on , simply . makes knives a happy , sharp experience . However , It TAKES A LOT of metal off , so requires cautious use and acknowlegement of the fact that knives you use it on , ain't gonna last forever . That , I can afford
    • 007 4  This is without a doubt a great tool . It quickly sharpened some cheap knives I had laying around , taking them from dull to a razor's edge in minutes . However , that is not without a price . I'm glad I used my cheaper knives to test it out , since it takes off quite a lot of metal . And by quite a lot I mean a substantial amount . Of course , this is how the accusharp manages to get that nice edge so quickly , but I would refrain from using this on any high-end knives . It's great for the kitchen , great for the cheaper EDC knives , but I would refrain from using this on your antique 17th century cutlass . Or any higher priced Benchmades . It just takes off too much steel to be a feasible option . And of course , you don't have the option of angling the cut . But then again . . . If you're bothering to read this ( or even own any more valuable knives at all ) , you would know this already . 4 / 5 .
    • 015 4  Over the years , I have preferred regular carbon steel knives to stainless steel knives , due to the fact that the stainless are so difficult to sharpen . Not anymore . This sharpener outshines all the sharpeners I have had over the many years , which include ceramic , diamond embedded stone and many others . When using the Accusharp on knives that have very little edge , you can be aggressive with the tool . It is going to take a lot of shavings off your knife . Once you get a good edge you should use your steel and / or an old leather strap to finely hone the edge . Subsequent uses of the Accusharp can be done more mildly in order to not take off as much metal . Use the steel between uses of your knife and the Accusharp only when you can feel or tell that the knife is not cutting well . All your old knives that you thought would never be used again can be brought back to ' like new condition ' with this tool . I highly recommend it .
    • 016 4  I picked this up because it was recommended by America's Test Kitchen ( PBS ) . It does one thing , but it does it well - - it will sharpen a dull edge . It's a little freaky to use at first , cause you have to keep the edge / blade up as you pass the AccuSharp over it to sharpen . Give it a couple of passes and you're pretty much good to go ( you'll see the actual metal shavings ) . Test the newly sharpened edge ( try cutting paper ) . Go over it again if you don't think it's sharp enough . For about $10 , it's a MUST HAVE for every home .
    • 021 4  I bought this on a whim and wasn't expecting much . I will point out the good and the bad here . Good : Easy to use . Does a good job at getting really dull knives most of the way there . Easy to change sharpening blades . Bad : I can get a knife sharp enough on a whetstone to shave hairs off my arm . Not so with this tool . As I say it is a good first step but not a final step if you want a really sharp knife . Also the blades dull very quickly . I got through 4 knives and it was already noticeably worn . Finally , it works best with thick knife blades ; on thin knives - like boning or fillet knives - it isn't so great . Buy it for what it is and you won't be disappointed . But don't expect it to do what a good whetstone will .
    • 028 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This thing sharpens my knives very well , and very quick . Some have complained that the edge doesn't last very long . It doesn't for me on my cheaper knives with 440 Stainless for blades , but works very well with my high-end Kershaw , Benchmaid , Leatherman and S & W - they seem to hold their edges very well . I rotate knives , and when carrying a cheaper knife that I'll end up using it's bound to get dull , that's why I purchased this sharpener . So now I don't care if a knife goes dull quicker than usual , I'll simply sharpen it real quick . It works for me , now I can toss all those stupid flat stones out the door ( because I don't know how to sharpen a knife using one - nor do I want to take the time to do it ) .

    • 032 4  I added this to my wishlist after reading that Cook's Illustrated rated it the highest of any sharpener ( including expensive electric sharpeners ) they tested . I haven't been disappointed at all - - my favorite chef's knife is back to its old , whisper-sharp edge , and even my oldest , dullest knife is sharper than it's ever been . It's incredibly easy and quick to use , no mess , there's literally not a single drawback , especially at the price ! Highly recommended to everyone who cooks regularly - - I'll have one of these in my kitchen for the rest of my life .
    • 034 4  Having spent hundreds of dollars over the years on various electric sharpeners that were a pain to use and in my unskilled hands produced dubious results , I was intrigued by this very inexpensive simple looking device on Amazon . But for the reviews , I would have assumed that it could not work . Was I ever wrong . It is great . A few simple strokes , and dull useless knives suddenly slice through things perfectly . Even roll sausage that always came out a squashed mess now slices into lovely round disks . I am in the process of giving one to everyone I know . It is wonderful when something actually works . A delight .
    • 037 4  the accusharp is small and manageable and seems to do a good job of providing a clean cutting edge . while it won't replace professional sharpening , it does keep a knife in good cutting order .
    • 051 4  I purchased this after fighting with my dull knives forever . I had tried a sharpening steel but could never get the edge I really wanted . Initially , I was a little afraid to use this because of the way you have to hold and stroke it across the knife blade . But now I am used to it and a few swipes sharpens my knife perfectly ! It is SO nice to have sharp knives again . I also bought one of these for my daughter who was always complaining about the dull knives . Just remember - - do not get distracted while sharpening your knife ! Even though there is a knuckle guard , I would not want to take the chance of missing the blade !
    • 058 4  I was introduced to this product as soon as it hit the market by the supply house I got my restaurant equipment and I really like it . I had gotten every new idea there was for getting a good sharp knife both at home and where I had a few dozen to take care of . All the major brands and prices from twenty to a hundred and twenty ; some were quite good but wore out fast others were just not good . The local service was fine for many of the knives but I found that this accu sharp was the best value , a super value that would put a perfect edge every time in seconds . Almost anyone can do it . So , for my own knives I use this tool . I do not have to use it often because I keep the knife honed on a steel . The only caution is do not use this tool as a honer . It does remove metal and that is good for burrs but not for daily use on your French knife or it will look like a foil in too short a time . This is the best product / value for the job it does I have encountered in over 30years of using all available on the market . The price is right and it is even renewable with replacement parts so the plastic handle can go on and on . At first I used the 001 model to sharpen hatchets & sissors too before they introduced special adaptations and it was great there too . I get a couple of them and always have one as they travel . for cook outs , camping where ever a dull blade might be encountered ; it fits in a pocket and stays aligned through all kinds of knocking about in a drawer .
    • 062 4  I'm a knife sharpening n00bie , but this seems to have done the trick . My fiance ' said her knives were getting dull , so I got this for her . I got it and used it on one of her knives without telling her which one it was . She used it within the same week and was able to pick out which one had been sharpened . I ran my finger along the blade and cut myself as a test . That was dumb of me ! haha
    • 064 4  This gizmo is pretty amazing . I thought I was going to have to spend $100 + to get a decent edge on my kitchen knives , but this thing does an amazing job for the price . As another reviewer said , if you want to be able to shave with your knives keep looking , but if you want to put and keep a keen edge on most of your knives look no further . Better yet , it's extrememly easy to use and cheap enough to keep one in the kitchen ( without taking up valuable counter space ) and one in your tool or tackle box . Just got it , and sharpened all of my good kitchen knives in about 5 minutes total . Sharper than they've been in a long time , and I have a lot of sharpening gadgets which will probably be on eBay tomorrow .
    • 066 4  I bought this due to positive reviews , price , and small size . So far , I've used it ( following package directions carefully ) on a small paring knife and a large chef's knife . The paring knife seems a little sharper than before , but the results on larger knife were pretty bad . There are now small nicks in the blade that weren't there before , and I assume they are the reason the blade cuts worse than before . Maybe it's just harder to keep the sharpener balanced correctly while running it down the longer blade ? I'll probably just use this on the smaller paring knives from now on , but even for limited use , the price constitutes something of a bargain , IMO , and it's US-made to boot .
    • 069 4  I don't know if it's the angle that this product creates , or what , but my knives go dull very quickly after using this sharpener . I bought this sharpener based on the reviews here on Amazon . And the first time I used it , I was impressed : a few swipes with the sharpener and my Cutco knives seemed to work great . After a few days , however , it became obvious that the sharpness does not last long . After sharpening a knife with this gadget , it seems good for the next cutting job , but the next day , it feels like a hacksaw and I find myself needing to use the sharpener again and again . I'm back to using my flat stone . A few swipes on the stone and my knives stay sharp for several , even many , days . If you can't use a sharpening stone , this might be better than nothing - - barely .
    • 070 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Often , things this cheap are too good to be true . I was all set to buy an electric sharpener for my decent set of knives , until I saw a glowing review of this product from America's Test Kitchen . Your first impression is : cheap plastic junk . That is until you use it . It sharpens all my knives beautifully , and is incredibly easy to use . It won't repair a damaged blade , you can't use it on scissors , and I wouldn't use this on a $200 Shun knife . That being said , for $10 , it makes your knives cut like new , and really , that's all it needs to do !

    • 073 4  I like this sharpener and for 99% of people , this is probably the best purchase you could possibly make for your kitchen . Most people have good knives , but their knives are so dull as to be dangerous . This product will put a great edge on all your knives in just a minute or two . So why is this not an unequivocal glowing recommendation ? For that 1% of edge tool aficionados out there who have both the ability and the desire to put a glass smooth razor edge on a knife . . . surprise , this tool does not do that ! The edge is certainly sharp , but coarse ( as you would or should expect from a carbide sharpener ) . Even so , this tool is still great for setting the proper bevel , removing any nicks in the edge , and giving you fresh steel at the edge which will allow for a quick finish polish on a fine grit stone . After a couple of swipes on the AccuSharp , I finish my good knives on a 4000 grit followed by an 8000 grit water stone . That leaves me an edge I can literally shave with . Overkill ? You betcha ! But some things that are worth doing are worth obsessing about . Do I recommend this product ? Oh yeah ! It is one of the things I tend to pack whenever I'm going anywhere that I might be called on to cook ( e.g . the inlaws house , a week at a beach rental , etc . . . ) . I can't stand dull knives and this tool will put an edge on a butter knife .
    • 085 4  This sharpener works as advertised and as reviewed on this site . It brings an incredibly sharp edge back to knives and is really very easy to use . However , the reality is ( as some have pointed out ) that the sharp edge does not last very long . The truth is though , it is so easy to use , who cares ? Just a few swipes and you're ready to go again . I find sharpening with stones very time consuming and it does require practice and skill to do right , which is why I don't do it very often . This sharpener allows my knives to have more consistent sharp edges for longer periods of time because I'm willing to take 20 seconds every other day and give whatever knife I'm using a few swipes . Great value .
    • 093 4  I was looking for a long time for a knife sharpener . I am not a cook or a chef , but I do like a sharp knife . This Accusharp fits the bill . I highly recommend it .
    • 094 4  My father in law bought one of these last year and has been raving about them . Finally he bought all of his ( adult ) sons and daughters one for Christmas . I really appreciate now where his raves came from . This device is magic . I have used a Chefs Choice manual sharpener for years and it does only an OK job . I have used a Chefs Choice electric sharpener , but it was only a frustrating experience fighting with the magnets that are supposed to hold the knife at the correct angle . For $130 and a lot of frustration it was not worthy to me . Enter this AccuSharp device for $10 . Any skepticism I had was gone after a few swipes on my Victorinox Forschner chefs knife . The AccuSharp is so easy to use ; no more fighting knife angles against rollers or magnets . There is a magical sensation when your knife is properly sharp : the friction of the sharpener against the knife disappears . I can * feel * when the knives are sharp ! I have sharpened all of my knives ( which I have tried to keep sharp ) and I could not be happier with the result . I rarely am so enthralled with a simple device that I take the time to review it on Amazon . From now on all I need is an occasional few light passes over the knives and I am set !
    • 104 4  I was frankly rather incredulous of all the wonderful praises that I had seen for this product , but decided to try one , thinking it's only ten bucks to lose if it does not work . But , whoa , this thang does work ! It is amazing how the sharpness returns to the blade of a knife in just a single swipe with this sharpener . I nearly sliced my index finger off by trying to check the knife's condition with my hand , believing that there was no way that the dullness would go away so easily . It did . This is an amazing little contraption . Get one for your household . You will be glad .
    • 112 4  I bought this product based on other's review . I tested my existing knives by trying to cut into news paper held up vertically . It would not cut ! I then sharpen the knives and tried again . Withing seconds , my knives was cutting through news paper like a razer blade . Really recommend this one ! Good as a gift for someone who loves cooking .
    • 125 4  I had incredibly dull knives , to the point of uselessness . Got one of these and it was as if I had taken them to be professionally sharpened . This sharpener is simply amazing . I gave it to a few friends for Christmas and they all agreed . You can't beat the price .
    • 131 4  I purchased this knife sharpener , because I went online to see what was available , and was astounded by all the good reviews for this one . I could not believe something this cheap could work that well . Well , it does . I can't add much to the other reviews , other than adding my own thumbs up , and talking about my own experience . I was all set to take my knives ( in pitiful shape ) to a professional to have them sharpened . I thought I'd just check online to see if there were any good knife sharpeners , and I saw this one and bought it . I thought that for the price , I'd give it a try , and I'm so glad I did . This really is a bargain , this really works , and it's really , really easy to use . Highly recommended .
    • 136 4  I own one of these sharpeners , and like it , but I bought this one for my son . He had been holding out for a pricy tool and admits he hadn't considered this one . However , once he had it , he used it and found it did a great job on some of his dull knives . The instructions say that it may take many passes , but it is still easy to do and sharpens the knives well . I am not trying to say that the $90 - $100 sharpeners do not do a better job , but I am saying that this does a great job for less than $10
    • 152 4  I have been searching for a replacement for my sharpening stones now for ages . I've run through maybe 5 different sharpening systems all of which worked more or less well . Nothing worked as well as my series of oil stones but I wanted to find some sort of shortcut which didn't take as long or put me out in the garage for a half hour every week . This is the first system I'd say equals oil stones . It's one of those delightful surprises which comes along rather rarely . Low cost and also operates as promised . If you want to get really picky - no - this doesn't equal exactly that super fine edge I get with the hardest of my oil stones but that edge only lasts a few cuts anyway . Back here in the real world , this works every bit as well and is much faster , easier , and also fun to use . After your initial cut , you only need a few strokes to get your knives back to that honed edge sharpness . Low cost , ease of use - what more can you ask for ?
    • 181 4  Prior to using this sharpener for many years sharpended by hand . Later I bought and used a prosessional sized wet sharpening stone powered by an electric motor . After using this brand of sharpener I no longer bother to use the big power sharpener . This does a good job and is much easier so I am more likely to keep the knives touched up and sharp . Two things you should know . The first time you sharpen a knife you will have to sharpen more to make its edge match the angle on the tool . After you have this shape future touch ups are quick and easy . I have purchased other brands for family members and found they may look better but do not necessarily work as well .

  • 052 4  Nothing is more dangerous than a dull blade . This is especially true in the kitchen when your hands are wet most of the time and preoccupation is a problem . This sharpener puts a keen edge on all non-serated blades with just a few passes . Since the sharpener bevels both sides of the blade at the same time there is no need for constantly testing the edge . After you run the AccuSharp along the blade until it starts to drag a little the knife is sharp ! The only problem you may encounter is wearing a dip in the contour of the blade by pressing too hard . By applying pressure to the high areas this problem can be corrected . I sharpened over twenty kitchen knifes in less than half an hour with the AccuSharp !
    • 031 4  I find this sharpener very handy and more reliable than my steel . I think the best edge can be gotten using both of them together .
    • 059 4  I am an amateur chef and have used many knife sharpeners . Always looking for ease of use and a fine sharp edge . The AccuSharp is the answer , bar none . Thanks for making a great product .
    • 082 4  After toting my cooking knives around in my car to drop off at the sharpening shop , never seeming to catch them open , I decided to try again at home . I chose the AccuSharp 001 and was very happy with it to say the least . Within minutes I was slicing and dicing again with new knives . Very happy . Would recommend them hands down .
    • 160 4  I have tried a wide variety of sharpeners over the years and the AccuSharp works quickly and produces a very sharp blade on both high carbon steel and stainless steel . For the money , this is a great investment .
    • 161 4  The Accusharp Knife Sharpener does an excellent job for a lot less money than other more sofisticated types . I am quite satisfied with the purchase .

  • 056 4  The knife sharpener in the Kitchen drawer had gotten old & tired , & I didn't want to spend excessive $ $ $ on a new one , so I gave this little unit a try . Well , it may not be the most hi tech looking , or something that needs to be plugged in , but it works smoothly & easily . A few passes & WOW ! Edges that could slice through paper , I felt like I could do my own infomercial extoling this thing . I got one for the Kitchen & also one for the garden tools , one of the best buys I've made at Amazon .
    • 061 4  What a great knife sharpener . They definitely have an edge over the competition . No matter how you slice it , this product is excellent and I highly recommend it . It beats the expensive electric models and I was shocked to discover that .
    • 078 4  Well who would of thunk it ! This little sucker really does the job . I use it like a steel before using a knife . It gets knives as sharp as my expensive electric sharpener and is a lot easier and quicker to use . I have bought some extras and give them a house gifts .
    • 080 4  I never expected something this cheap to work , but it does . It returned by dozen or so knives back to a good edge . Is it professional quality ? Probably not , but I don't have time to learn to use an old-school sharpener and I don't need another bulky plug-in kitchen gadget taking up space on my counters . This is perfect : small , cheap , and functional .
    • 113 4  Excellent , works as advertised . I can make any knife super sharp , every time . Would recommend .
    • 177 4  At first I was a little skeptic about this product but I gave it a try anyway and I was not let down . It resharpened all my knifes from kitchen to Leatherman blades with no problem . The blades all came out sharper than when purchased from the stores . Excellent purchase Highly recommended . Don't take this sharpener to work all the guys will ask you to sharpen there knives . That was my biggest mistake .
    • 185 4  This knife sharpner is simply the best I ' ve ever used . It does the job in a few strokes . The best part is that it does not scratch the knife at all , like a sharpening stone would . I just wish it could have a higher quality look , and I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars more for it .

  • 087 4  I thought I was going to have to spend alot of money for a decent knife sharpener . After reading the great reviews , I bought it and love it . It's extremely quick and easy to use and sharpens my knives beautifully .
    • 091 4  This is an awesome product ! I am amazed at how easy it sharpens my knives . They are like new !
    • 102 4  I use it on my cheap knives and pricey ones and it works amazingly well . After I bought mine , I bought a few more as gifts .
    • 110 4  Ive used these sharpeners for a few years and have been sharpening knives for family and friends with it . Guess what they are getting for Christmas !

  • 098 4  I bought this product for myself a year ago in desparation looking for something to sharpen a wide variety of favorite kitchen knives . I have tried all of the other techniques from stones to powered knife sharpeners . As one who likes a sharp knife when cooking , I just wanted something to dress the edge quickly , reliably , and as often as I wanted to without a lot of hassle . After doing my research on the Internet , I decided to try this a year ago . It is nothing short of great . It met all my criteria and now we always have sharp cutlery no matter what type straight or serrated edge . I even use it on my meat clever . I liked it so much that all my family members are getting them as stocking stuffers for Christmas this year . I'll never have to complain about dull knives when I am cooking at their houses . As a gag , we stapled a few band-aids on the card before gift wrapping the sharpener . It's not a professional sharpening tool , but it is quick , practical , and a real timesaver .
    • 023 4  No matter what you do , it will not put an edge on any knife like it was professionally sharpened . However , it will bring an old dull knife back from the dead and get it to the point where you can cut a ripe tomato w / it , which should be good enough for most purposes . I use my Accusharp on my less expensive knives and stick w / my honing steel and the occasional trip to the sharpeners for my nicer ones .
    • 100 4  This sharpener quickly shaves off bits of metal from the knife's cutting edge , so it is great for your cheaper knives . If you have expensive knives , like Global , that should get more tlc , this is not likely your best option . I use it to keep my other knives sharp , depending on frequency of use . I find that I use it weekly for my most used knives . I think it is a great tool for the price . Use it on a dry knife away from food and wash off the metal shavings immediately to avoid eating them . I find I use this way more than the tedious sharpening stone .
    • 121 4  saw this is my goldbox and gave it a try , wow . . it works very well , had some old kitchen knives that would only crush a tomato , now they slice thru them with razor sharp accuracy . have a really expensive Chef's Choice Sharpener bought years ago , this works better than that and is portable . amazon has got a keeper here . will have to get some more as gift's .

  • 123 4  I wasn't expecting much for my buck when I bought this . Knowing that I couldn't afford a $4000 sharpener because I don't have a disposable income ; I decided to throw some money away anyway , so I'd have an excuses to whine and moan , like the good little spoiled American that I am . Wow ! I was wrong . . . oh so wrong ! This little sucker is a ripper . I first tried it on a good carbon steel chefs knife , and it was like a razor after 6 - 7 swipes . Next , on a gorgeous looking 8 Calphalon Santoku that came highly recommended from some ding dong employee of the now defunked Linens and Things that didn't have a clue that the knife was made with German junk steel that dulls after 4 uses . Sorry , I was out of breathe ; it took about 10 good even swipes , but it's as sharp now as when I first bought it . Next , I used it on a fairly dulled serrated bread knife , and it is now frighteningly sharp , so forget waisting your hard earned dollars on expensive machines that suck energy and ruin knives , if you don't know what you're doing , and give this little thing a try . You will smile once again at having the ability to effortlessly run knives through food , without the spewing forth of profanity , and post depression from the heartbreak of expensive dulled knives .
    • 158 4  read the great review in cook magazine and haven't been disappointed . people might pay more for fancier devices but they're not getting better results .

  • 126 4  I have a set of Chicago cutlery that's over 15 years old and I have tried everything to sharpen them ; a sharpening steel , a gadget that contains sharpening steels , a two-stage sharpener , a sharpening stone . . . I was on Amazon looking at some good , high quality ( and EXPENSIVE ) knives because I want sharp knives and I thought the only way to get them was to spend big bucks . In my searching I came across a link to this sharpener , saw the great reviews and decided to give it a try before buying new knives . My 15 - year-old knives are now sharper than they were when I got them . If your knives haven't been decently sharpened in a while , you can actually see the metal shavings coming off as it sharpens the blade . I tested my newly sharpened knives on overripe bananas by holding the banana in my hand and just swiping at it through the air ( don't try this at home - - I cut my finger ) , the knives went through the banana like it wasn't even there . It was amazing .
    • 053 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) GREAT PRODUCT ! NEED TO SHARPEN ANY KNIVE ? ? THIS IS ALL YOU NEED ! FOR THE PRICE , YOU CANT BEAT IT ! 100% I WOULD RECOMMEND TO EVERYBODY , AND I HAVE ! I HAVE TAKEN IT WITH ME TO WORK AND HAVE SHARPENED MY FELLOW SECURITYS KNIVES AND IM LOOKING FOR MORE TO SHARPEN ! . ~ THANKX EVERYONE FOR THE REVIEWS , THATS WHAT I ALWAYS LOOK FOR FIRST WHEN I BUY !

  • 129 4  I've bought so many knife sharpeners that my wife believes I may be a tad obsessed . I've tried both manual and power sharpeners . I also tried a sharpening stone but have never been satisfied with any until I used the AccuSharp . This is the one I have finally settled on . It's easy to use . A few quick strokes will make your knife blade sharp but with a slight burr on one side . I use my steel to straighten the burr and to refresh the knife's sharpness before each subsequent use .
    • 147 4  I've only had this sharpener a short while but I'm very pleased . My knife edges were easily restored and I only need a few swipes on a steel to prep them for cutting . It was obvious that the edges of my knives were beyond simple prep . When I made a few passes with the Accusharp I could see small curls and chips actually being removed . . . indicating that the blade was being renewed and re-aligned .

  • 153 4  When I first purchased this item , my mom said it was a bad decision . Yet , when I got it , she was proved wrong ! ! ! I bet most knife sharpeners wouldn't be able to sharpen my knife that hasn't been sharpened in like two years up to that point . When I used this simple , simple , idiot-proof contraption , it was sharpened very easily and in not that much time . So if you want a knife sharpener for as little money as possible you're best off buying this thing .
    • 114 4  This sharpener works great ! I have been buying them as gifts for the family . Not only does it bring your knives back to the first time you purchased them , it is extremely easy to use and can be used by anyone . I purchased one to keep in the garage and even use it to sharpen my tools and lawnmower blade every few weeks . Once the product develops its own angle , you only need to run it over your blade several times and you're back in business .
    • 179 4  this knife sharpener is very easy to use , makes all my old blunt knives razor sharp.iam glad i need not spend any more money on buying new knives .

  • 166 4  I bought this product after reading the Nov 2006 Cook's illustrated Review of manual sharpeners . I was looking for an affordable option to sharpen very dull knives , as electric sharpeners are not in the budget right now . Perhaps it is because my knives were very dull , but the sharpener did not return my knives to the desirable sharpened state , even after about 5 minutes of passing the sharpener over the knife . In fact , the sharpener left grooves in my blade ! Now I will have to buy an electric sharpener or find someone who can professionally grind my knives into the proper sharpness . That being said , the knives are a little sharper than when they started , but I have returned the device and asked for my money back .
    • 133 4  I bought this based on the reviews I read and I am , in turn , singing its praises as well . I use this on my Henkel kitchen knives - - 3 - 4 swipes and they are extremely sharp . And it is extremely easy to use : place knife on its back , glide the sharpener from the handle to the tip ; repeat 2 - 3 more times . No worries about correct angles . Even works on serrated knives .

  • 175 4  it works ! Our knives were incredibly dull , and my husband could not sharpen them with the long metal rod that came with the knife block . I was getting quite annoyed , so we ordered this . And it took more than a few strokes for many of our now dull knives , but it is SO nice to have my knives working again . And , it's cheap to replace the sharpening blade , so no big deal . Very easy to use as well , I'm not worried anyone will accidentally chop their hand open with this ( like me , for instance ) .
    • 038 4  I was reading a cooking magazine that reviews products . In the issue I was reading , they were comparing different knife sharpeners . This was their favorite hands down . The same company makes an electric knife sharpener for $159.00 , but they liked this $10 manual one better . It works well . I used it on a knife that has been dull for several years and it brought it back to life .
    • 044 4  I had no idea my knives were so dull until I used this bad-boy on them ; they are SCARY sharp now after spending all of 6 minutes going through my small collection ! Really nothing more to say . . . buy it !
    • 138 4  This is fast and easy to use . Two strokes and I have a very sharp knife . I need to get a bunch more ( as gifts for people I know who love to cook ) .
    • 139 4  Bought because I stink at using a sharpening steel ; works great , quick and easy , keeps my knives sharp because it is so easy to use , I actually do use it !
    • 141 4  I purchased 3 of these for Christmas ( one for me ! ) . I have used several times . Seems to do the trick . Very quick and easy to grab out of the drawer and give several swipes over the knife , then use right away .
    • 186 4  I love the finger guard ! I like this sharpener . IT is easy to use and works well !

  • 194 4  Like most of you , I researched plenty of knife sharpeners - electric , manual , name brand - it's all relative folks ! I own two knives , the Victorinox Fibrox 8 - Inch Chef's Knife and a target 5 wusthof knife that I use for my everyday cooking . After about a year of usage , I did plenty of research and used the Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener that a coworker of mine owns . It worked fine , at thirty bucks , it was more than I wanted to spend . I knew that I wanted an easy to use device and this one fits the bill . The packaging is simple , but that reflects the device - easy , simple , and effective . Three swipes and your done . I've used it for a bread and tomato knife as well and it breathed new life into my knives . If you don't like it , give it to a college student - it's cheap and they'll use it to fix their hand me down knives !
    • 005 4  At our restaurant , we sharpen 10 - 15 knives every day . This is all we use . I used to have a knife sharpening service , and I've tried some of the other trendy sharpeners sold here on Amazon , but this little device beats them all and saves us a ton of money . Anyone can use it . We get approximately two weeks of use before we have to open it up and turn the blades over - and then it's like a brand new sharpener again . If you buy the one with the replacement blades included it's like getting two sharpeners for a little more than the price of one . After we bought our first one of these , we put a professional machine ( $300.00 + ) out in storage , and never looked back . Considering the price , there is no way you can go wrong ! !
    • 011 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This is a good tool to use on a inexpensive knife or other piece of equipment . If you have a nice set of knives , you should not use this . Different kinds of knives , and knives with different blade thicknesses , have different angles that should be used when sharpening . If you want to learn more about it , you can search professionally sharpened knives and look for the onemansblog link . That being said , I bought 2 of these , one for garden tools and some of my cheaper knives , and 1 for a rental property that I own where renters periodically put knives in the dishwasher . After you use this tool , the blade will be nice and sharp . It's a great value , it just shouldn't be used with premium knives .
    • 035 4  Works better on serrated knives than any other sharpener that I've tried though . To be honest , most anything works fine for my chef knives , but the serrated bread knives sharpen up very well with this little gadget . So ignore the hype , this is a good sharpener , but you'll need to use it , spend a minute or so with each knife , carefully sharpening them . Does a good job and works as well as any sharpener I've ever used ( regardless of price ) on regular blades , and is easier to use on serrated knives .

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I bought this knife sharpener after reading the very positive review on Cook's Illustrated . They recommended two other sharpeners as well , but the other two were both larger and more expensive . I have a sharpening stone and a diamond sharpening steel , but I always dread using the stone and don't use the steel often enough . As a result my knives are often dull . I occasionally take my knifes to be professionally sharpened , but it's expensive and time-consuming . I used this little gizmo as soon as it arrived , and after just a few pulls across the blade of each of my knives , they were sharp again ! I have expensive Wusthof knifes as well as a number of cheap knives , including both chef's knives and santoku knives . The AccuSharp worked well on all of them . After a few minutes spent sharpening my knives , they all passed the tomato test - - the knives sliced a tomato easily without me exerting much downward pressure or using any sawing motions . I'm not an expert , but my knifes seemed almost as sharp as after a professional sharpening with a stone . Some negative reviews argue that the design of this knife sharpener is not ideal , and could even lead to injury . Personally I felt perfectly safe when using the AccuSharp . I wasn't worried about cutting myself at all . An added plus : the sharpening sounds didn't bother my husband , who is sensitive to metal-on-metal scraping noises . This sharpener is small , light , cheap , easy-to-use , fast , and works great . Highly recommended . CAVEATS : I've only tried this sharpener on non-serrated knives . I've only used it once , so I can't comment on the two issues that have been mentioned in the negative comments . Some reviewers complain about the longevity of the sharpener blades , saying that the sharpener only works about 40 times before needing the blades replaced . Given the price , 40 uses doesn't seem so unreasonable to me , especially considering that professional sharpening costs me around 5 dollars per knife . Other reviewers complain that the sharpener creates the wrong blade angle , or takes too much metal off their knife . I cannot tell whether this is the case after one sharpening .
    • 002 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Overall : fast , efficient and small but I question the safety and also the need to hone the blade after sharpening . PROS : 1 . Portability - small enough to keep in your tool - or tackle-box . 2 . Fast - a few runs of your dull blade through this sharpener and you are ready to go . 3 . Sharp - After a few runs , my kitchen knives were immensley sharper CONS : 1 . Safe ? - I left a question mark on this one for two reasons : ( a ) The slot where you slide ( to sharpen ) the blade is very small opening . You need to take care that the blade is securely wedged inside and not sitting on top of the white plastic . ( b ) Inherently in the design you can see that your fingers and arm are inches away from a newly being sharpened blade . So long as the blade is securely contained in the wedge you are fine . I would have preferred to see the design keep the motion of the being sharpened blade in a direction pointed away from my hands / arms to feel safer . 2 . Honing needed - This sharpener puts a nice edge on the blade but you still need to hone the blade afterward if you are looking for a finely sharpened edge . IN SUMMARY : I believe this is one of the most economical sharpeners on the market . For the money it does the job very well . I would recommend that you also consider very strongly the Wusthof 2 Stage Knife Sharpener as it looks safer and also includes a section to hone the blade as well . I will be returning mine for the Wusthof .

    • 009 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I was reluctant to buy another knife sharpener since I had one which worked pretty reasonably . But all these reviews , plus the recommendation by Cooks Illustrated sold me . Hey , it's only [ . . . ] bucks , why not ? After sharpening every knife in my kitchen , I'm asking myself , why not earlier ? The knives were so sharp , I was paranoid that I would slice myself open with them . The design is ingenious . Unlike other some other sharpeners where you move the knife across the sharpener , you place the knife with the blade facing up and move the sharpener over it . In this way , you get more even pressure across the entire blade , so you manage to sharpen the tips very well also . Moreover , because the blade is resting on a flat surface upside-down , the knife is sharpened more evenly on both sides of the blade - - something which makes a major difference for both sharpness in cutting and for homes who have both left-handed and right-handed cooks like mine . The only thing that has disappointed me is that the picture on the back of the packaging implies that it can sharpen serrated knives , which it can - - in theory . I suspect it works best where the serrations are far apart , but on my serrated and steak knives , the serrations are too close together for the Accusharp to be effective . For ten bucks , this item is a fantastic value ! You can even buy new sharpeners for when the blades become dull . Wow !

    • 017 4  I'm someone who spends a lot of time cooking . Sharp knives are a must for me . As a result I keep honing stones and a sharpening steel at hand at all times . But using stones is a time consuming procedure . I'd seen this product in a store a while back but doubted that something so simple could be effective . Then I read a product review in Cook's Illustrated magazine that rated it superior to sharpening systems far more expensive . I was impressed ! I was even more impressed when I started using the Accusharp . Follow the instructions on the back of the packaging . Its use isn't quite as intuitive as it would appear . But once you use it correctly you'll be rewarded with beautifully honed cutlery from a minimum of effort !

    • 083 4  This is the best gadget in my kitchen , I loooove my Accusharp ! My knives have never been that sharp - even on the day I bought them ! After bying 3 rather expensive sharpeners that did not work , paying $5 per knife to the knife sharpener only to end up with blunt knives in a week , I finally learned to cut with really blunt knives - it was a torture . A friend - professional chef with a big catering business , gave it to me as a present , now my life is beautiful ! I cannot wait to chop , cut , carve and slice . What it actually does is shave the steel from the knife's edge rather than sharpen it , so with no effort at all , in 2 seconds you will have the sharp edge your Wusthof and Henkels never had . I am buying this for every friend and relative , no one should go without this .

    • 145 4  I'm a big Cooks Illustrated fan . Saw the review on America's Test Kitchen and jumped on this one . I own lots of overpriced underperforming kitchenware and gadgets . This thing does indeed perform . I have many different knives - - Forschner Fibrox , Henckels , etc . . . - - some pretty expensive . I have a $35 Henckels ceramic sharpener and a more expensive honing tool - - neither comes close to this simple device . I have sharpened all my knives with it and they are as close to razor sharp as they were when purchased . Gave this as a gift to a relative and will buy for others as the opportunity comes ! For the price , it's a no-brainer .
    • 149 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I purchased this based on a review in Cook's Illustrated . I was surprised how well just a cheap product worked . I used it about once a week and my knifes stay very sharp .

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I bought this product for myself a year ago in desparation looking for something to sharpen a wide variety of favorite kitchen knives .
    • 024 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This is my 2nd AccuSharp Knife Sharpener . I had the last one for 15 years . I'm terrible at sharpening knives . . . . but this one is a no-fault sharpener . You can't go wrong with it . I even sharpen serrated knives . It does a fantastic job .
    • 079 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I never expected something this cheap to work , but it does . It returned by dozen or so knives back to a good edge . Is it professional quality ? Probably not , but I don't have time to learn to use an old-school sharpener and I don't need another bulky plug-in kitchen gadget taking up space on my counters . This is perfect : small , cheap , and functional .
    • 081 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) After toting my cooking knives around in my car to drop off at the sharpening shop , never seeming to catch them open , I decided to try again at home . I chose the AccuSharp 001 and was very happy with it to say the least . Within minutes I was slicing and dicing again with new knives . Very happy . Would recommend them hands down .

    • 099 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This sharpener quickly shaves off bits of metal from the knife's cutting edge , so it is great for your cheaper knives .
    • 101 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I use it on my cheap knives and pricey ones and it works amazingly well . After I bought mine , I bought a few more as gifts .
    • 103 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I was frankly rather incredulous of all the wonderful praises that I had seen for this product , but decided to try one , thinking it's only ten bucks to lose if it does not work .
    • 105 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) It's a decent sharpener but about the equivalent of the ones you can get at a Home Depot or Lowes for half the price . The larger frame and full hand shield makes it a good choice for those who would prefer to keep their fingers attached and avoid bleeding .
    • 111 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I bought this product based on other's review . I tested my existing knives by trying to cut into news paper held up vertically . It would not cut ! I then sharpen the knives and tried again . Withing seconds , my knives was cutting through news paper like a razer blade . Really recommend this one ! Good as a gift for someone who loves cooking .

    • 165 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I bought this product after reading the Nov 2006 Cook's illustrated Review of manual sharpeners .
    • 180 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Prior to using this sharpener for many years sharpended by hand .
    • 182 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I haven't been able to find a decent knife-sharpening solution for ages . I finally found a large whetstone at a cookery store , but they wanted $70 for it - more than the cost of a brand-new knife set ! This product works excellently - the knives come out razor-sharp after about 15 - 30 strokes , depending on how dull the knife was originally .

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I have been searching for a replacement for my sharpening stones now for ages .
    • 020 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I bought this on a whim and wasn't expecting much .
    • 039 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This tool gets the job done . It turned a lot of my old , dull knives into razors . Honestly , it was like buying new knives . Be warned though , do NOT use this thing on scissors . It will ruin them . I learned that the hard way .
    • 041 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I was amazed at the sharpening power this little device brings to the table . I'm not certain why others have commented on a mediocre sharpening experience with this sharpener as my experience was quite different . Easy to use and manages to sharpen - really sharpen - with just a few easy strokes . I like the reversable / replacement sharpening blades as well - dull the first side and turn the blades over for , effectively , a brand new sharpener . For the price you can't go wrong with this one . . . .
    • 043 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I had no idea my knives were so dull until I used this bad-boy on them ; they are SCARY sharp now after spending all of 6 minutes going through my small collection ! Really nothing more to say . . . buy it !
    • 048 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This sharpener made my $7 old knife from IKEA one of the sharpest tools I have ever used . Now , I can take a head of tomato and with no effort and no mess slice through it . Or , hit a head of watermelon and split it in half . It is amazing , give life to your knives . This saved me from buying new knives .
    • 050 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I purchased this after fighting with my dull knives forever .
    • 055 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) The knife sharpener in the Kitchen drawer had gotten old & tired , & I didn't want to spend excessive $ $ $ on a new one , so I gave this little unit a try .
    • 065 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I bought this due to positive reviews , price , and small size .
    • 068 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I don't know if it's the angle that this product creates , or what , but my knives go dull very quickly after using this sharpener .
    • 077 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Well who would of thunk it ! This little sucker really does the job . I use it like a steel before using a knife . It gets knives as sharp as my expensive electric sharpener and is a lot easier and quicker to use . I have bought some extras and give them a house gifts .
    • 086 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I thought I was going to have to spend alot of money for a decent knife sharpener . After reading the great reviews , I bought it and love it . It's extremely quick and easy to use and sharpens my knives beautifully .
    • 092 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I was looking for a long time for a knife sharpener . I am not a cook or a chef , but I do like a sharp knife . This Accusharp fits the bill . I highly recommend it .
    • 117 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) After about a year of heavy use , my Henckel's knives were dulled , even though I hone them on a regular basis . The Accusharp is the perfect solution . It only took a few swipes to bring them back to their original sharpness . It couldn't be any easier - forget those clunky , expensive grinders . Its been at least two months , and I haven't had to sharpen my knives yet . Just one cautionary piece of advice - since the blades actually take metal off your knife , use a light touch .
    • 124 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I had incredibly dull knives , to the point of uselessness . Got one of these and it was as if I had taken them to be professionally sharpened . This sharpener is simply amazing . I gave it to a few friends for Christmas and they all agreed . You can't beat the price .
    • 146 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I've only had this sharpener a short while but I'm very pleased .

    • 163 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I too bought this knife sharpener because of the great reviews here on Amazon . I ordered this in July and waited till I had used it a lot before I gave it a review . My knives do not stay sharp for very long . I find myself having to use it again before the job is done . I can use a sharpening stone but thought this would be easier , and it is . Just wish it worked as well as I thought it should , given it's great reviews . At least it didn't cost much .
    • 168 4  2years ago - my knives set was very sharp 1year ago - knives became too blunt 6 months ago - my brother moved into my apartment 1 month ago - I got this from amazon . until 1 month ago , nothing happen with my knife . 3 weeks ago - I sharpened all of my knives . • 174 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) it works !
    • 189 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I have a swiss army knife and I got it five or six years ago . During these five or six years , I've never sharpened it and started from two years ago I have been using it more like a dull saw . However , after sharpening the knife with this AccuSharp , it became as sharp as a new one ! ! I'm soooooooo happy now ! ! ! ! Highly recommended ! !
    • 191 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Really works well on both high carbon and stainless . Kinda wish I'd bought this before I replaced my very dull kitchen knives but at least I ; ve got two sharp sets now .
    • 193 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Like most of you , I researched plenty of knife sharpeners - electric , manual , name brand - it's all relative folks !

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I like this sharpener and for 99% of people , this is probably the best purchase you could possibly make for your kitchen .
    • 006 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This is without a doubt a great tool . 4 / 5 .

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I was introduced to this product as soon as it hit the market by the supply house I got my restaurant equipment and I really like it .
    • 004 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) At our restaurant , we sharpen 10 - 15 knives every day . !
    • 033 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Having spent hundreds of dollars over the years on various electric sharpeners that were a pain to use and in my unskilled hands produced dubious results , I was intrigued by this very inexpensive simple looking device on Amazon . A delight .

    • 142 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This is hands down the best sharpener I've even seen ! I've used other forms of fixed blade sharpeners and whetstones and this one works so much better . It's incredibly easy to use and I would recommend it for anyone .

    • 176 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) At first I was a little skeptic about this product but I gave it a try anyway and I was not let down . It resharpened all my knifes from kitchen to Leatherman blades with no problem . The blades all came out sharper than when purchased from the stores . Excellent purchase Highly recommended . Don't take this sharpener to work all the guys will ask you to sharpen there knives . That was my biggest mistake .
    • 184 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) This knife sharpner is simply the best I ' ve ever used . It does the job in a few strokes . The best part is that it does not scratch the knife at all , like a sharpening stone would . I just wish it could have a higher quality look , and I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars more for it .
    • 187 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Yes , it's cheap . And , yes , it works . I was actually suprised how well it works ! It may not last as long as I want , but for the price , it can't be beat .

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I wasn't expecting much for my buck when I bought this .
    • 120 4  We now have two of these knife sharpeners . One for us and one for our daughter . It's compact , does an exceptional job , stores easily and is inexpensive . I was looking at electric sharpeners for $150 ! So it's green too . What a find this is ! I only wish I could buy more than one at a time . What's up with that anyway ? I'd buy them for Christmas stocking stuffers if I could get them all at once . Highly recommended .

    • 130 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) I purchased this knife sharpener , because I went online to see what was available , and was astounded by all the good reviews for this one .

    • 134 4  This review is from : AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) Okay , let me start by saying that I bought a knife set with one of those steel thingees . As much as I like to call myself Chefgirlrie , as good as I can flip and dip and slice and dice , I can't use the dang steel . And believe me , I have scraped up every knife trying . I saw this on Cooks ' Country , and I said why not . I'm so glad that I did buy this . It completely fixed all the mess and mange of the steel and I have a sharp knife now . I'm so glad , now I can use this with ease on my brand new cutting board . Great product , I highly recommend this .

  • AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener ( Tools & Hardware ) The AccuSharp Knife Sharpener works much better than I expected it to for the relatively low price we paid . This is a very simple gadget that is very easy to use and puts a very fine edge on almost any blade . Use the sharpener is easy but be sure to read the directions on the back of the package . You start by placing the knife on a counter , with about 1 / 2 hanging over the side and then run the sharpener gently over the blade two or three times ( the plastic guard protects your fingers ) . I noticed that on some of my knives I had to do it 6 or so times before the edge took , likely because the knife edge was originally at a different angle . I like that the tungsten carbide sharpeners can be reversed when the original side wears down and replacement sharpeners are also available AccuSharp 3036 - 2024 Knife Sharpener Replacement Blades . It is great having all of my household knives sharp again , and it took far less time to do all of the kitchen knives than it took to write this review . Highly Recommended !
    • 022 4  AccuSharp is the quick , safe and easy way to put a good edge on inexpensive cutlery . It works particularly well on the disposable white handled food service knives that are notoriously difficult to sharpen . You might not want to use Accusharp on very high quality knives because it does remove a fair amount of steel getting the job done , but for any knife you paid under a hundred bucks for it's a great choice . We keep a couple dozen knives at our restaurant , and a single worker can keep them all sharp enough to fillet a tomato with a single sharpening once a month - and sharpen them all in around twenty minutes .
    • 042 4  I was amazed at the sharpening power this little device brings to the table . For the price you can't go wrong with this one . . . .
    • 045 4  I'm a sharpness nut . I have diamond steels , ceramic steels , sharpening blocks and a Chef's Choice . A kitchen knife , to me , isn't sharp until I can literally shave with it , and my skin is as smooth as a baby's behind . Getting that degree of sharpness in the past was always somewhat hit-or-miss , even with a lot of experience , and always took too much time . Then I stumbled upon the AccuSharp . I was buying a chef's knife for my daughter and this was a recommended addition . I bit . Thirty seconds out of the box and I was convinced . Within minutes , I had my entire collection of knives as sharp as new ( in some cases , sharper ) . The AccuSharp is absolutely foolproof and the most effective method of sharpening a knife I have found . I nominate it for Best Kitchen Gadget Ever .
    • 067 4  I think you will find this item an overhyped item . It is incredible that 203 reviewers average 4.5 stars on this item . It works but the end result is not a blade that is super sharp . I have worked in the restaurant business for the last twenty years of my life . I have not tested the results of this on a serrated knife . However , the angle at which it sharpens at is not the sharpest that it will leave a blade and I find myself sharpening as I have always done with a sharpening rod or a sharpening stone . That said , I believe that if you are skilled at either of the above then I would not recommend purchasing this item - however , if you are not , then this item should work . I don't find that it works that well on my molybedenum / vanadium knives , and a little better on the pure steel knives ( most people don't have them because they rust a little easier ) . That is my thoguht .
    • 074 4  Bought this product without even looking at reviews . It was just so cheap I thought I could take the chance . Am I glad I did ! ! ! Saves a lot on expensive sharpeners and the headache of figuring out how to use them without ' actually reversing the sharp edge ' and all that jazz . This thing is easy to use and it work well . Even if it doesn't work forever it's so cheap I can buy it again and again if needed . I don't expect to live forever anyway so a sharpener that doesn't work ' till kingdom come ' is not really a big deal . Great buy ! ! !
    • 106 4  It's a decent sharpener but about the equivalent of the ones you can get at a Home Depot or Lowes for half the price . The larger frame and full hand shield makes it a good choice for those who would prefer to keep their fingers attached and avoid bleeding .

    • 118 4  After about a year of heavy use , my Henckel's knives were dulled , even though I hone them on a regular basis .
    • 164 4  I too bought this knife sharpener because of the great reviews here on Amazon .
