It is very good at melting cheese on thick sandwich halves though , as long as the bread slices are not too long , like on a round sourdough loaf , or an Italian bread pizza . But hey , it can't do everything .
It is hard to clean the interior because the racks cannot be removed the whole way for cleaning . They do slide in and out with the door opening / closing , which make it nice to retreive your bread without burning hands on the elements inside . It doesn't take up much counter space which is good , however note the height because if you intend to put it under a low cabinet there may be a problem . The outside gets very hot . The unit doesn't have to be slid back and forth across the counter like most toasters either . The pull open front glass door makes it easy to see what's going on in there .
It should also have a control that allow just the middle and bottom elements for toasting just one slice . All three elements seem like too much for one slice . You can use just the middle element for bagels , just the top or just the bottom elements , or all three .
All in all I like it for what is intended . If it was 1 inch wider it would accomodate 4 slices of bread , and then it would be perfect .
001 4 I've had this model for nearly two years now . It takes nearly twice as long to toast bread as a normal toaster , because it has energy saving quartz elements , which don't heat up as quickly . Since there is no temperature control , there is only one setting - really hot .
This could ruin your day if you just want to reheat something through , so here's a piece of advice : for things like frozen pies , pizza and reheating rolls , put them on the top shelf and turn the heating element knob to Bottom Rack . That way you don't char the surface while the interior stays cold .
The ' Bagel Best ' setting is great for people who , like Sting , like their toast ( or bagels ) done on one side . It's a nifty feature , but the bottom line is that this toaster oven is limited to toasting and heating only certain kinds of foods . I would recommend it for people who want just a very basic toaster oven .
I want more versatility in a toaster oven these days , so I am shopping for a new one .

006 4 The one we have is about ten years old and was a gift . It is the handiest toaster oven I've ever used . No , it's not THE most even toasting I've ever seen in an over , but you're getting what you pay for here - - it's small , efficient , versitle and dependable . We've used it on average twice a day every day for the last ten years with ZERO trouble . If the one we have ever bites the dust ( and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down ) then I'm hoping they still make these so I can get another !

However , it will not toast 4 normal slices of bread at one time without overlapping the pieces , which I could not anticipate from the picture , and it toasts darker on the bottom of the bread slice than on the top . Also , there is a learning curve for setting the dial to achieve the amount of toasting you want , and the toaster does not turn off automatically when the door is opened . If you over-estimate the toasting time you want and have to pull the bread out before the oven is finished working , you risk burning yourself on the still hot elements .

We recently purchased a second one because we didn't want to take a chance that it wouldn't be available when our current model burns out . Not that it appears that will happen anytime soon . The first one still works like a charm . We use it for many things , from plain toast to re-heating pizza and other leftovers that would get soggy in a microwave . It is the perfect small-sized toaster over . While I don't think it's meant to actually cook , it warms and toasts food perfectly . Definitely recommend !

Overall , I'm still happy with the way the oven performs .

025 4 In 2003 I purchased this same product . The company then sold it under the name Bagel Best due to the slim size . I purchased it because I wanted to save counter space . The toaster is used daily and still works perfectly .
I was shocked to see that the product is being sold again on Amazon and being sold under a different name . It looks identical to mine . One big difference is that the new toaster is being sold for nearly $30 more than I paid just 3 years ago . That is way to much money for a toaster that toasts 2 slices of bread , bakes pizza rolls , and cooks small items such as fish sticks and chicken nuggets . You cannot toast large breads ( example : a hoagie sliced in half ) because it will burn . The only thing that makes this product special is that it takes up very little space .
I would love to have a new , cleaned up Toasty Plus Toaster Oven but I refuse to pay this price . I would look somewhere else before spending a lot of money on this limited-use toaster oven . I am giving it 4 stars because it does its job as good today as it did 3 years ago and it saves a lot of counter space . My intention of writing this review is to warn against paying to much money on this particular toaster oven .
026 4 I have had this space-saving toaster oven for six months now and use it all the time . Since purchasing , I have only used the full size oven once and that was for a turkey ! It cooks french bread pizzas in half the time of a conventional oven , produces golden french fries too . I found some frozen soft pretzels last weekend and I'm hooked , they cook in under five minutes including pre-heat . I even baked a potato once , but that did take a long time . Overall , this product keeps me out of the drivethru and I highly recommend it .
027 4 At 950 watts and with a footprint of less than 1 sq ft , this is especially suited to a kitchen with limited counter space and a limited number of electric circuits . It's also a true gem to put in a guestroom breakfast bar .
You can bake just a few cookies in this . Make a batch of cookie dough , freeze the dough in pre-cut portions . Then bake 2 - 4 cookies while you prepare dinner . ( What an aroma , to have them fresh ! and no temptation later . ) You can also let the grandkids take out a portion , and bake them .
The Toasty also makes superb English muffin pizza - - no soggy bottoms , like in the microwave .
About replacement pans and clean up : You can buy one of the thinner style silicone baking liners for a small square pan and cut it to size for each of the pans . Clean up is VERY easy then , and since the liners are reusable , it's cheaper in the long run than lining the pans with aluminum foil .
If you are , or have , a handy person around , you can also custom trim a couple of unglazed baking tiles to make your own little pizza oven .
Downside is that it's slower than a toaster , more limited than a toaster-broiler , and a tad pricey . But it's cute !

I also use it to warm up small amounts of chicken nuggets , fish fillets and fries when my picky-eating kids don't want the regular meal . The small footprint makes this a must . 033 4 I was excited to open this toaster oven when it arrived at my doorstep . As I took it out of the box my first thought was that its tiny size resembled an Easy Bake Oven . Hmmm . . . I plugged it in so I could perform a test-drive . Right away it was clear that 4 pieces of bread would not fit , no matter how I arranged them . Undaunted , I was sure I could perform a 4 - pieces-of-toast feat if I tilted the slices against the walls of the oven at a weird angle . Considering I hadn't bother to read the instruction manual and the fact that I put the bread on the trays instead of taking them out and using just the racks , my disappointment was my fault . The bread , of course , only toasted on one side .
I resigned myself to the fact that only two slices would ever fit and if you're fine with that , then this oven may be good for you . Be warned that the bagel setting will burn even frozen bagels . I feel like I can't walk away from the toaster oven when I toasting something for fear it'll burn whatever is in there . However , once I get the hang of the settings I'm sure it will be fine .
This toaster oven is cute , takes up little space but was a bit over-priced for what you get . . . . a grown-up Easy Bake Oven .

The toaster produces nice bagels , toast , and english muffins . The only thing that we had to get used to was that once you have toasted something the time for the next piece of toast is a little shorter , which would make sense since it is hot at that point . Other than that reminder , this unit is worth every penny .

I had the smaller brother to this model for years until I accidentally burned it up . This model is bigger than the 5W , but just as good . 045 4 I've had one for two years and it makes great tuna melts ! But you should line the bottom crumb catcher with a small square of aluminum foil so it will be easier to clean . It's difficult to reach around the racks to clean . And there's always something dripping on the bottom that then turns into an unidentifiable charred mess . It's a limited toaster , but sooo cute !

I was looking for an oven that I could set to a specific temperature and it would run until I told it to stop . Also , the bottom level tended to burn anything I tried to make . I purchased this little toaster to make cinnamon toast , rather than heating up my oven . It is small and take up little space on my counter . I have mine positioned next to the coffee maker . Someone before me mentioned the limits this toaster has and that is a fact I can attest to . If you want something to toast bread , bagels , or heat up rolls , this toaster is perfect for very small amounts . If you were going to try to cook something in this toaster , i think it might be better if it were not frozen and thawed prior placing in the toaster . In addition , what ever you place in this toaster , it better be small . I would say it is perfect for one person to make treats . This is a great toaster for my cinnamon toast addiction . I would not want to do much more with it . You could probably use it to toast nuts too , but I have not tested this yet . I plan to also make cheese toast with this little baby soon too .

While we've only had this a few weeks , we like the product & it works as advertised . It is unique for its small footprint where counter space is at a premium . It is not the quickest at doing toast but it comes out to our satisfaction .

063 4 Love the vertical shape as I have little counter space . I looked at sooo many small toaster ovens which were poorly made . The manufacturing quality of this little oven is far above the others . I have been away a lot and haven't had time to use it for for baking or reheating . ( that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 ) It makes great toast though .

I got mine when I was in school 20 years ago ! Recently my mother-in-law was commenting on how much she liked it , but she couldn't find it . I can't believe they still make it ! It will be a great Christmas surprise for her . I'm not getting one for myself , because mine is still working just fine ! Great product .
066 4 This is the second one I have purchased . It's a great space saver and you can use it to not only toast bread and bagels , but to heat up all kinds of leftovers .
068 4 We received our toaster oven as a wedding gift nine years ago . Before we had kids we used it 4 or 5 times a week . Now that we have two kids , I use it at least once , but often twice , a day . We use it mostly for heating frozen foods ( chicken nuggets , tater tots , frozen waffles . . ) and for making toast or bagels . It's probably the small appliance I use the most .
After nine years , it is definitely starting to show signs of wear . The window is clouded and the whole thing appears well used . The trays are in desperate need of replacement , but I don't think they are sold separately . Overall , though , we've been very pleased with our toaster oven !

I used one of these at work and immediately decided I had to get one . No it doesn't have a hundred settings but that is the best thing about it . It makes toast and bagels very well every time without having to find the right buttons to push in the morning . The quartz elements seem much more forgiving than normal toaster ovens it is hard to make toast bad . The small amount of counter space used and clean look are also big pluses in my book .
The only negative I can think of is that I did not get one sooner .

074 4 I recently purchased the Sanyo Space Saver and it is a terrific little toaster / warmer / cooker oven in only 9 of space . I moved to an apartment with little counter space and the Sanyo is perfect . It works perfectly and is quite good looking as well . I am VERY satisfied with this purchase ; it's an excellent deal for the price too .
075 4 After our second Black and Decker toaster oven died ( after heavy use ) , we decided to try something different . Other toaster ovens tend to be much bigger , and we have a small kitchen with limited counter space , so when I saw the footprint of this toaster , I was intrigued .
We use toaster ovens for toast and some basic reheating ( leftover pizza ) , so this seemed a good fit - - and it is .
This is a simple toaster oven . It's a double decker , with two racks , and the user can select which heating elements to engage . There's no thermostat , only a timer , so a person can't really set a temperature . I never really trusted the thermostat on the previous toaster ovens , so the lack of a temperature guage doesn't bother me .
Caveats : it's slow . It might be tricky to clean , as the racks don't come out .
Plus : it doesn't take up much horizontal counter space .
Big Plus : the ding when the timer goes off !
076 4 I did a lot of research on toaster before I decided on this one . I really needed something compact because of my really small counter space , no space could be wasted . My main purpose for a toaster is to toast bread , this toaster gave me extra benefits , I could actually make add a little topping to my toast now . I haven't tried toasting frozen foods , but I'm sure it will toast nicely . The bread toasts evenly and the crumb tray is such a great convenience . Just pull it out , toss the crumbs and push it back in .
Here is why I gave it only 4 stars :
- there is no OFF button ! ! ! Better buy some chopsticks or use some tongs if your toast is burning and have the oven mitts all ready .
( I'm not sure why they don't just add a temperature setting to this toaster . )
- oven racks don't come out . Although the manuel says the they do , they really don't . So you can't wash the racks or anything under the racks . I dripped oil onto the heating elements and parts of the toaster under the racks . I had to push a napkin and wipe between the racks and use chopsticks to swoosh the napkin around . The metallic part on top of the heating element couldn't be wiped off and eventually turned black after a couple of more uses . My toaster is only 2 weeks old and I hate seeing those black spot , makes the toaster look so old and dirty . Oil that dripped on the heating element , burned off , so that's fine .
If they fixed these two flaws , the toaster would be 5 + stars ! Otherwise , 4 stars here .

The current model has more variety in the heating element selection and a mechanical timer instead of the electronic one on the old model . This is a fabulous kitchen appliance . Cheap , reliable and will toast anything . We use ours every day , and have for years .

079 4 This is the third Sanyo SK - 7W Toasty Oven I bought . I gave one ( he took : - ) my original one to my son when he moved away , and gave another one to my parents who felt in love with it when they say it in my home .
It has a small footprint so it takes very litle counter space , a great bagel setting that toasts them to perfection . It comes with to trays and does a very good job at toasting and heating things up .
Just wished that it was more available in stores ; it would blow the competition away .

081 4 Agree with everyones comments . . one negative is that since the casing is white ( versus chrome , etc ) it becomes yellowed with continued use , which is really not a big deal . Would love to find replacement trays too , they are hard to keep clean especially if you heat frozen foods .
082 4 Liked the design . Cooks slowly . Timer was defective . No service centers in Pittsburgh area ! Had to mail back to California , because I bought it as a gift and didn't open it and test it before the 30 - day return period was up . Not sure I'd recommend this or any Sanyo small appliance .
083 4 This toaster was specifically purchased for our two-person household and small kitchen . It not only is cute , it is a good performer . If only I could find a microwave ( for heating up our coffee , mainly ) as compact , I would buy it . The Sanyo takes some experience using it as a warmer , but I bought one for our married son and they claim they make enchiladas in it ! ( Using foil wraps , I think . ) I benefitted from reading others ' reviews before I bought mine , and it's my pleasure to give this product the highest rating .
084 4 I have just received this toaster so I can't comment on its ' durability but I can talk about the toast . Very easy to use . There is a learning curve with toasting time but overall the toast is far superior to my Kenmore toaster ( it was rated number one by Consumer Reports . ) It is the best toast I have ever made in a toaster oven , and I have owned many . The browning was even on the top and even on the bottom with the exception of the white lines left by the rack which is normal . I found it toasts faster than my Kenmore and you can watch your toast without having to put your face down the slots of a toaster . It takes up vertical space which means I can keep it out on my counter .

This toaster oven is the best I have ever tried . Easy to clean and it does so many things . I have a spare put away when this one finally dies , so I don't have to wait to order another one .
