Casio Men's G9000-1V G-Shock Mudman Digital Sports Watch
010 4 I never normally wear digital watches . I think they look cheap , nasty and tacky . I purchased this watch because I wanted a cheap beater with a good stop watch that is light so I could wear it whilst running or working out and wouldn't be affected by sweat . I also wanted something really tough that was water and sand resistant because I'm going on a cruise around the South Pacific soon and will be spending a lot of time in salt water , snorkeling and doing stuff in beachy places . I really didn't want to wear my Tag Heuer with gold plating in the salt water or on the beaches during the day in case it corroded the metal , ditto for my watches that have leather bands etc so I purchased this Casio Mudman brand new on Ebay for half of what they retail for here in Australia . ( They retail brand new here for about $200 and I got mine for around $120 including postage from Hong Kong ) .
For what it is this watch is a quality piece of equipment . It is tough and very well constructed , you can feel that as soon as you pick it up . It is water resistant to 200 meters and is shock and mud or sand proof as well . It actually looks quite nice although you couldn't wear it with a suit . It is a big but not huge watch and I don't have a massive wrist although for some reason it doesn't look too big on me which I'm glad about . It has a couple of stop watches , world time functions for a ton of cities , several alarms , countdown timers , day date and month - pretty much all you need for a tough , sporty kind of watch . Although I haven't put it to any test yet , you can just feel the toughness of this watch , I really think it could take a lot of punishment although I probably won't be subjecting it to anything out of the ordinary .
Anyway , as a sporty , tough , rugged kind of watch that you can wear without worry of scratching or damaging , this Casio Mudman really fits the bill . 5 stars for what it is .
002 4 Alright , I read another review for this item from a customer and evidently he had problems pushing the buttons that are enclosed in a protective coating . . . Give me a break . If it were easy to push the buttons , I wouldn't want the watch .
This watch is light in weight , but heavy duty . I purchased this watch when a friend of mine that recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq had nothing but praise for it . His withstood the elements of war , so at least I figured mine could withstand all of my outdoor activities .
Set-up is simple and the watch is going to do what I need a watch to do . Last and keep time . I don't enjoy frills of calculators and other garbage they put on a lot of these digital watches , so this is perfect for me .
If you have a weak or limp wrist , this watch isn't the one for you . The buttons take some effort to push , but nothing that's a reason for giving this bad boy a 1 - star rating .
003 4 If you spend any time at all in the g-shock forums you will see two main points about this watch . They are the band is the most comfortable ever or that it sucks real bad . I fell into the latter camp . The band itself is not bad it's more flexible than some G-Shocks . The real problem lies in the resin nubs that are on the case back to raise it up slightly off your wrist . They are abrasive and will scratch you as the watch shifts . It's not like they scratch you like a cat , but it is an irritating feeling . I like the band on my GW - 500 much more than this one and the bands on any of my Timex Ironman watches are even better . If only we could get the ruggedness of the G-shock head with a band like Timex makes it would be a true winner .
Good : Two 1000 hours stopwatches , though I never run for more than 30 minutes . 24 hour countdown timer , mud and shock resistant . Overall a nice watch .
Bad : The band / nubbins combo that scratches . The face is too busy . On the Watchuseek forum , it was said this watch is like someone who wears too much make-up . Ala Mimi on the Drew Carey show . Sometimes less is more . Casio could take a hint from companies like Suunto and Timex and produce watches that are easier to read with less useless graphics on the dial .
As I said this seems to be a hit or miss model . I may own one again , but I'd get the black dawn version to get rid of the bad make-up job and take an emery board to those damnable bumps on the case back .
008 4 The G Shock Mudman has turned out to be exactly the watch I was looking for . It is not the high priced tactical unit that I started out looking for but it seems to be the right size , durable ( so far ) , and easy to use . The few negative reviews that I saw before I purchased mentioned size ( too big ) and ease of use ( buttons too hard to push ) . If you need a much smaller watch in a rugged outdoors application , you might want to consider a woman's style . As far as the buttons are concerned , the watch is rated as water resistant to 200 meters and is designed to be impervious to mud . The necessary sealing action associated with the buttons does make them a little stiff , but that should be expected . For the price , it is fine for everyday wear , hunting , fishing , camping , and the gym .
011 4 I've owned G-shock watches for quite a long time and this watch is one of the best . It is packed with more features than you will ever use . The reason it is mud resistant is due to the buttons being sealed to the bezel . There have been some complaints that the buttons are difficult to push and the reason they are stiffer than usual is due to them being sealed . G-shock watches are for rugged souls so for those who complain the buttons are hard to push , go by a Fossil , Swatch or some other delicate momma's boy watch .
012 4 Let me tell you that , I was looking for a sport looking digital watch . I searched through amazon and I found this great watch . I even put my order before the watch was available in stock ( Back Order ) . I received the watch on time , and I am wearing it every day , I feel very sporty .
013 4 I like dress watches and usually wear something more elegant than this Casio watch , but I felt like having something casual and thought it would be fun to have a digital watch like I had when I was a kid .
This watch is great for me because it's big and beefy but very lightweight . It probably weighs a lot less than any of my other watches , yet it seems fairly durable , and it's so inexpensive that you don't really worry about it if anything should happen to it .
One of my favorite things about this watch is its simplicity . With a quick glance I can see what day it is , including the day of the week , in addition to the time . I know that might not seem like a big deal to most people , but I'm kind of absent minded sometimes , so it's actually nice for me when I can look at my watch and see that ok , today is Saturday . Yes , I can do this on some of my other watches , but they have dials mostly , some of them that need to be set periodically , so I can't really trust that maybe I set it correctly , or else they are tiny and hard to see .
Also I like the timer feature , for when I am cooking something and I can't hear the timer in the kitchen because maybe I am too far away .
Some reviews I read say the buttons are very hard to push , which I found to be true in the very beginning of owning the watch , but after an initial breaking in period , they are a little bit easier . Not to say they are a soft touch , they do require some effort . The upside is that you're not likely to push one of the buttons and change a setting by accident by bumping it .
021 4 This watch just arrived yesterday , and I am very pleased with it thus far . I collect mainly Omega's and a Rolex sub . and needed a watch for everyday use . Everyone on a watch forum I belong to highly recommend me get a Casio G-Shock . I've read about how durable they are , they can take all kinds of abuse , used by astronauts , etc . so I figured I'd give it a try . My first impressions of the watch was it feels to be very well made . Sturdy strap , and buttons . Very nice luminescent light as well , it's very cool how not only the face of the watch lights up , but the writing around the watch lights up as well .
Not only is this model shock and water resistant , but it's also shock resistant as well . I've hear of many members of the armed forces using nothing but G-Shocks in the field and never failing . Time will tell , this looks like it will last me for years to come . A purchase well spent ! ! Anyone who's thinking about getting a G-Shock , GET ONE , you will not be disappointed !
025 4 I received my Mudman this week and so far I have to say I'm very pleased . The face is smaller than I thought and not as thick as I thought it would be . No problems with the buttons ( I like that they are stiff ) , quick to set up and band is pretty comfortable . I wish they had this model in a atomic clock version without the solar battery . I haven't meet anyone with a real good experience with the solar battery , so that is why I returned my GW500A-V1 to get this watch . I really liked the looks and atomic clock feature of the GW500A , but I did not like the solar battery and the lack of countdown timer which I use daily . I would definitely recommend this watch to a friend .
029 4 I picked this watch up last June ( 2008 ) and I've received nothing but positive compliments since the purchase . I don't know too much about watches however this one goes above and beyond what I use it for . I wear it every day , except when I sleep - I even wear it sometimes to work with a suit and it still looks nice . I would say the best part about the watch is the durability and light weight . If you play alot of sports this is a great watch to have . I personally play alot of tennis , do alot of hiking and swimming - I've whacked it multiple times on my computer desk , the side of the pool , etc and no dings or scratches .
Basically , if you're looking for a sweet looking black athletic watch that can take a good amount of wear and tear while still keeping excellent time then I'd suggest picking this watch up .
030 4 A traditional Timex guy , but heard good thinks about the Casio Mudman . The buttons can be hard to press , but after taking into consideration that it's mud and dust resistant , hard press buttons are not an issue . The double band clasp is secure . All around nice watch .
Wish it had stopwatch lap memory . A must have . . .
032 4 The G-shock - The Jack of watches . The Mudman is the my go to watch . It's not as loud as the Breitling and not as pedestrian as the Timex Iron man . It's rugged size and solid build quality suggests that the wearer is serious about his time piece , but is not bogged down with special features . At one time the case size would have been thought of as big , but now I consider it just about right . Read the substantial owners manual , set it - then never have to worry about it again . Battery life is of some concern - only an authorized Casio watchsmith is supposed to replace the water-tight battery compartment - and the depth rating all G-shocks is a little lofty . The mudman stood up easily to a dirty overseas deployment - but I would not snorkel with one .
042 4 I bought this watch to replace and old G-Shock that I had bought in 1984 and that my daughter have lost while playing with it . The previous , one of the first G-Shock watches , was really good , but this one is even better : really nice appeal , robust , easy to use , backlight , two progressive cronometers ( that can be seen even on the main screen - two progress indicators ) , and so on .
Some people in the Amazon reviews had told that this watch's buttons are hard to press . For me they are nice .
If you like G-Shock style watches , you will really like this one .
045 4 I collect watches as a hobby . I have literally dozens of different high end and vintage watches . However when I wanted another hunting / fishing watch , there was only one choice . . . . the GShock . This is my second GShock and I will say that it is a great buy . I hunt and fish in them and am not very kind to the watch when I am doing so . They stand up to the punishment and never look the worse for wear .
Are the buttons on this watch a little stiff to push ? Yes they are , but for a reason . They are designed to literally be drug / slogged through the mud ( hence the name ) and still work . If the buttons were easy to push , mud and other goo might make it past the covers and buttons and damage the watch .
Do you want a good looking and tough watch ? If you do , get this one you will be happy that you did .

049 4 This time piece is an oustanding value ! ! It looks good , it is tough . it can take a beating and clean up nice ! ! In my work which is the army corps of enginees ( civilian ) and at my play , which is dirt track racing late models and modifieds , this time piece it put through the paces with river water , mudd , welding etc . At the track well its judt plan hot sweaty and dirty , and through itt all it just keeps ticking away ! It has so many great features that will get you through your day , and wake you up in the morning ! ! I am 48 years old and I wear mine every day all day , and sometimes I wake up with it on ! ! This is one great watch that is easy to set up for whatever you are doing in your every day life , I high recomend this watch . thank you
050 4 This is a serious watch that does its job well . I work in a dirty outdoor job where I set the date and time of other control clocks . The way the face of this watch is configured and framed it makes the date and time absolutely pop out at a quick glance . This important to me because in the field I don't really need all the frills , just the correct time and date right now , No nonsense .
Another thing the Mudman does well is keep time . As a non atomic watch I have only lost one second in 20 days . This is vary acceptable especially since Casio says that + / - 15 seconds in 30 days is acceptable .
I almost forgo ; it's raised back and contoured band are very comfortable in semi harsh environments .
Tough , light , comfortable , masculine , reliable , duel timers , 4 alarms and a face that displays the time in an orderly and large manor at a quick glance . Yup , it's a keeper !
053 4 It's true , I've gone through four watches in a year before getting this . Two were Wal-Mart cheapies that had the bands and / or backlight break after having them about a year , then a $20 military-style analog watch I had changed speed and got worse after a battery change ( again , after a year of ownership ) , and a $50 analog Timex I had bought 6 months before this started having problems with the date function and backlight only illuminated the center of the watch . None of what I was doing while wearing these was exceptionally tough - I'm a college student living on campus .
So I did some research to get me a watch that would hopefully last more than a year or two . Everything ( under several hundred dollars ) pointed to the Mudman .
It is true that the alarms are a bit quiet , but I actually like this . I have the alarms go off several times per day to remind me of things and I can hear them without them distracting others . If I need a portable alarm clock I use my cell phone .
As for the nubs that several people complained about , it is true that they are irritating for the first week but after that they shouldn't bother you too much . I filed two of them down a bit and even when the watch shifts around on my wrist it doesn't bother me .
The buttons are not extremely hard to press . The left side ones are not difficult at all and the right side ones are just a bit stiff .
I've only had it a few months now but so far I love it .
059 4 The watch is very rugged , all features work well . . . . it sits comfortable on your wrist and is so light you hardly know its there .
it has a mean look and the band is long enough to fit most . . . the only problem is that the band retainer slips and doesnt hold the excess band too well sometimes . . . .
064 4 Received this is a christmas present , been wearing it and its a very good watch , comfortable , and lots of features .
The buttons could be easier to press imo if they used the big flat buttons on both sides of the watch instead of the round ones which are really annoying to press .
For some reason the bottom-left button did not work , I took it apart and noticed the button wasnt even hitting the switch so I added a paper shim between the two and it works again .
Alarm could be alot louder , it cannot wake me from sleep .
On the plus side , dual lock band , easy to take apart , replace battery ect . . . , world clock , easy to read display with date and day , 5 alarms , 2 stop watches , will take a beating and still keep on ticking .
One thing unlike almost all other higher end g-shocks , this one did not come with a metal tin , just a cheap plastic display stand which is nice .
The instruction manual was shoved under the compartment in the display stand and was bent in half making it impossible to read properly , I downloaded the instructions off casio's site instead .
080 4 I bought this watch as replacement for a classic G-shock I have . I wore if for a couple of days , but the nubs on the back just became too irritating for me to wear for extended periods of time . The watch is everything they claim , but the constant scratching became just too much . I returned the watch .
084 4 I'm a diehard Timex owner and have went thru at least 4 in the last several years and they all served me well . The reason I crossed over was hopefully to get more then 2 - 3 years out of watch , and also get a watch that could handle the lifestyle I lead ( surf / swim / cycle / run ) . My job occupation also puts a beating on the watch United States Rescue Swimmer . So far this watch has really impressed me and I think it's money well spent .

087 4 As a pilot i was in search of a good pilot watch . I bought this watch for my active lifestyle , any gshock would of done fine . When i purchased this watch i did not know the dual illuminator was an automatic light when you turned the watch to view it . I was sold . This watch is excellent for night flying , now i can just turn the watch to view it and the light comes on . nice feature . and good enough for me .
The watch is very comfortable . It has a large dial and thick case , looks tough too .

Lets cut to the chase in regards to button pressing - Regardless of all the reviews you may read - the buttons are hard to press in comparison to other watches . There are instructions online about boiling the casing for 20 minutes to minimize this issue . I boiled my casing and band and experienced a significant change and would highly recommend doing so to anyone . . . . . there is a big difference . The buttons now press normally as you would expect . Should you have to do this to a new watch . . . . no , but what the heck , its a great looking and functional watch and worth 20 minutes to do . Buy it , you want be disappointed . Save yourself some time and buy from Amazon . I price shopped for a while only to find that most were $5 or $10 cheaper but coming from Hong Kong or somewhere . . . . . . . . why would you do that .
093 4 I own several G-Shocks and love them all . This is a great watch , the features are just what I want & need . My only two nits - and they're minor nits to be sure :
1 ) The buttons are * very * tough to hit . I was expecting stiff buttons , but on my example they require a very ( very ! ) deliberate push to operate . I guess the plus is you don't need to worry about accidentally changing modes with this watch .
2 ) The tail of the band likes to slip out of the retention strap . I have a big wrist and wear the watch on the 4th set of holes from the end . At that setting , the tail likes to slip out and flail about . Not a big deal , but none of my other G-Shocks does this .
All-in-all a great watch . It's more casual and sporty , but nothing too obnoxious ( in my opinion ) . I also very much like the back light - it's very bright and crisp !

098 4 I bought this watch for my then fiancee's little brother . He is one of those types who destroys things and goes through items at a far faster rate than other kids .
Keeping this in mind and knowing he is a 17 year old I figured this watch would be the best bet in being able to live through a few years of abuse and so far I have not been disappointed .
The kid loves this watch and the functionality and toughness are perfect for him . I always wanted a G Shock when I was a kid , but never had the opportunity to own one , so it's nice to see someone else appreciate something I never got to use .

127 4 It was uncomfortable to wear . The fit was completely unrefined . In fact I went with my original instinct ( i was going to buy the GW 5600 - J originally but didn't want to wait , but I found out it wouldn't take as long to get it ) . The GW 5600 - J is a much more comfortable watch ( it is still a gshock and they are not the most comfortable ones for sure but offer many functions , rugged durability , and cool looks .
Back to the mudman :
It has these nubs on the back of the piece that are hard plastic - - totally uncomfortable compared to a normal flat back , I see no advantage except maybe they don't case as much sweat or something . But even still totally not worth it . I returned this watch and got a GW5600 - J . I would recommend anything other than the mudman for a classic gshock fit .
130 4 I received this watch from my girlfriend for my birthday and was very impressed with it straight out of the box ( before trying it on , more on that later ) . It was in my top three G-Shocks that I was considering so I was thrilled that I got it .
It is VERY sturdy and well constructed . The digits are easy to read and the back light is very bright and it allows you to read all functions in low light conditions . It has some very useful features and multiple alarms with a snooze features .
When I put it on this is where things came apart , and I have the same complaints as many others on here . The textured nubs on the back of the watch are AWFUL . I have thick skin and it is in no way sensitive , but those textured nubs will rub your skin raw . What an awful idea ! If they were smooth , they would still be bad but the fact that they are textured will grate your skin . Also , the buttons have far too much resistance . If you need to navigate through some of the functions , it will leave indentations on your finger because you have to press the buttons so hard . Not practical .
To summarize , the watch was returned within 24 hours for those two cons . They were so bad that it completely ruined the watch for me .

015 4 I am a professional housekeeper . So in any given day , I may be changing diapers , scrubbing floors , doing laundry , etc . Also , I garden in my spare time and groom my own poodles . I need a watch that I can put on and forget about . The Mudman is certainly kid proof and dog proof and housework proof . Also , the various count up and count down timers are very useful . The programming buttons are a bit stiff , but that way you can't push them accidentally . I like the fact that there are four alarms and that the count down timer is programmable . This is not just a watch for sportsman , it is a watch for anyone who has their hands in soap , water , dirt , pet hair and CHAOS all day long .

Of course the buttons are little hard to press , but the purpose for which I bought it was to work in muddy conditions and under any force in nature . The watch is best for those conditions . But that's okay - - they won't accidentally get pushed when you work out or do other strenuous activity . I really like the AUTO EL feature , but it might not be suitable for soldiers / Marines in combat - - it'll go off every time you move your arm . I had to turn mine off . BTW , Amazon did a great job with shipping . I picked the free option , which was supposed to take 5 - 9 business days , and received mine a week earlier than I expected .

Have been wearing it for a little over a week and have received many compliments and people asking where I got it and how much I paid for it . At $45 it's a steal . It has the features a watch should have without all the BS some fancier watches are selling with . It's a watch people . It needs to tell you the time , the date , have a stop watch and an alarm . 018 4 This is my 3rd g-shock that I've owned in the past 21 - 22 years . That should tell you how long they last . I spend a lot of time in salt water , and as long as you rinse it off , this watch will take the abuse and last a long time.Dirt and grime got inside the case of my other 2 g-shocks and rotted the case away after many years . The Mudman is sealed and I can tell by looking at it that this probably won't happen with this watch.As with all g-shocks , it is easy to use right out of the case without having to read a lot of instructions . I am totally sold on the g-shock brand and wouldn't personally have anything else on my wrist . I don't think you can find a better watch for the money !

051 4 This watch is rugged , durable and it looks great too . I have had it for a few months now and it has withstood everything that I have thrown at it . The features are useful , and it is light weight and comfortable . The buttons are sealed , making the watch water resistant to 200M . They do take some effort to push , but come on . If you honestly have a problem pushing the buttons on this watch , then you probably don't need the durability of a G-Shock , because you're just wearing it as a fashion statement .
001 4 I actually bought a G SHOCK watch back in 1987 . I beat the * & % $ out of this watch for 20 years and it just finally died . I never replaced the battery in all that time ; can you believe that ? That watch owed me nothing . If you want a watch that cannot be destroyed - this is the watch for you . I literally ran this watch over with my car and it was prefectly fine afterwards . This watch was probably the best purchase I ever made in my life .
022 4 I chose this watch for it's sturdiness and was not dissapointed . The case is rugged but not too heavy . The Mudman comes with all of the features you would expect . I found the band flexible and quite comfortable . The only negative I have about this watch is the difficulty I have found trying to change the time to 24 - hour mode . I have read the directions several times and still cannot get it activated . Overall for the price this was a very good buy .

It's true , I've gone through four watches in a year before getting this . Two were Wal-Mart cheapies that had the bands and / or backlight break after having them about a year , then a $20 military-style analog watch I had changed speed and got worse after a battery change ( again , after a year of ownership ) , and a $50 analog Timex I had bought 6 months before this started having problems with the date function and backlight only illuminated the center of the watch . None of what I was doing while wearing these was exceptionally tough - I'm a college student living on campus .
So I did some research to get me a watch that would hopefully last more than a year or two . Everything ( under several hundred dollars ) pointed to the Mudman .
It is true that the alarms are a bit quiet , but I actually like this . I have the alarms go off several times per day to remind me of things and I can hear them without them distracting others . If I need a portable alarm clock I use my cell phone .
As for the nubs that several people complained about , it is true that they are irritating for the first week but after that they shouldn't bother you too much . I filed two of them down a bit and even when the watch shifts around on my wrist it doesn't bother me .
The buttons are not extremely hard to press . The left side ones are not difficult at all and the right side ones are just a bit stiff .
I've only had it a few months now but so far I love it .

I usually prefer Omega dive watches , but was going on an international vacation and needed a cheap reliable watch to take with for travel . Not only does it have multiple timezones and mud resistance , it also have a diver's water resistance . The watch survived a swim in the pacific ocean . Very reliable and rugged with fabulous quality .

This is my 3rd g-shock that I've owned in the past 21 - 22 years . That should tell you how long they last . I spend a lot of time in salt water , and as long as you rinse it off , this watch will take the abuse and last a long time.Dirt and grime got inside the case of my other 2 g-shocks and rotted the case away after many years . The Mudman is sealed and I can tell by looking at it that this probably won't happen with this watch.As with all g-shocks , it is easy to use right out of the case without having to read a lot of instructions . I am totally sold on the g-shock brand and wouldn't personally have anything else on my wrist . I don't think you can find a better watch for the money !

I received my Mudman this week and so far I have to say I'm very pleased . The face is smaller than I thought and not as thick as I thought it would be . No problems with the buttons ( I like that they are stiff ) , quick to set up and band is pretty comfortable . I wish they had this model in a atomic clock version without the solar battery . I haven't meet anyone with a real good experience with the solar battery , so that is why I returned my GW500A-V1 to get this watch . I really liked the looks and atomic clock feature of the GW500A , but I did not like the solar battery and the lack of countdown timer which I use daily . I would definitely recommend this watch to a friend .

I was looking for a durable , easy to read and affordable watch . Also that would display the date without pressing any button . After looking around a bit , I couldn't settle for less than this Casio Mudman . Definitely a great buy !
028 4 I watched my dad purchase his first G-Shock when I was 12 years old and was instantly fascinated by the fact that it kept its own time , was charged by the sun , and was big and man-like .
Now , I'm over halfway through my deployment in Iraq and my trusty old watch finally broke . Looking through the watches in the post exchange , I came across the G-Shock Mudman . I figured what the heck , I have the cash .
Since I got it I have absolutely fallen in love ! I always had a hard time with buttone being pushed , but due to the sealed buttons being harder to press on this watch , no more ! The durability so far has been excellent and just what I need for the given conditions . The raised dimples on the back help keep thw _ watch rash from appearing in these hot environments . It's worked perfectly through the recent rains and dust storms . I love this watch , and I think that i'll continue to buy G-Shock watches in the future , that is , if this one ever dies !

047 4 This watch is unreal ! I had bought a G-Shock from Costco about 6 years ago and it was a great watch . However the battery died and the local watch shop here in central Oregon wanted $30 to ship it out and have the battery replaced and preasure tested . I looked on Amazon for a new one and found the Mudman . I duck hunt every weekend as well as beat the piss out it every chance I get and nothing can stop this watch . For $61 there is no tougher watch out there . Don't let the couple of poor comments steer you away from this tough as nails watch .

The watch is very rugged , all features work well . . . . it sits comfortable on your wrist and is so light you hardly know its there .
it has a mean look and the band is long enough to fit most . . . the only problem is that the band retainer slips and doesnt hold the excess band too well sometimes . . . .

I've had this watch for about a month now . It is perfect have not had any problems at all with it . Upon receiving it the programming of it is actually pretty easy compared to other lower priced watches I've owned in the past . I would recommend this watch .

The watch looks great . It could take a pounding and keep going . Price is Okay and it got here in good time . It has 5 alarms , hourly chime , and other sounds if only you could hear it . I'm not kidding that Casio has messed up on just about every new watch that is coming out . You have to have the thing next to your ear to even hear it . I have an old watch which sits on the table about 20 feet from me . I lost the instructions , so now every day at 3 : 20 pm the damn thing goes off . Loud and clear for about 2 1 / 2 minutes unless I get my lazy butt up and push a button . Anyway , if you don't need the alarm , then go for it . The buttons that are hard to push was not a big deal for me .

I bought this watch as replacement for a classic G-shock I have . I wore if for a couple of days , but the nubs on the back just became too irritating for me to wear for extended periods of time . The watch is everything they claim , but the constant scratching became just too much . I returned the watch .

I'm a diehard Timex owner and have went thru at least 4 in the last several years and they all served me well . The reason I crossed over was hopefully to get more then 2 - 3 years out of watch , and also get a watch that could handle the lifestyle I lead ( surf / swim / cycle / run ) . My job occupation also puts a beating on the watch United States Rescue Swimmer . So far this watch has really impressed me and I think it's money well spent .

089 4 I bought a G Shock about ten years ago . It was a great watch , and the Mudman is a replacement . In reading the more critical comments from people who purchased this watch , there are two common themes : the difficulty of pushing the buttons on the watch and the fact that the watch is very uncomfortable to wear . I am very happy to report that - - for me - - the watch is very comfortable and the buttons work very well . The watch is rugged , and does everything very well . I give it a very strong endorsement .

I own several G-Shocks and love them all . This is a great watch , the features are just what I want & need . My only two nits - and they're minor nits to be sure :
1 ) The buttons are * very * tough to hit . I was expecting stiff buttons , but on my example they require a very ( very ! ) deliberate push to operate . I guess the plus is you don't need to worry about accidentally changing modes with this watch .
2 ) The tail of the band likes to slip out of the retention strap . I have a big wrist and wear the watch on the 4th set of holes from the end . At that setting , the tail likes to slip out and flail about . Not a big deal , but none of my other G-Shocks does this .
All-in-all a great watch . It's more casual and sporty , but nothing too obnoxious ( in my opinion ) . I also very much like the back light - it's very bright and crisp !

I bought this watch for my then fiancee's little brother . He is one of those types who destroys things and goes through items at a far faster rate than other kids .
Keeping this in mind and knowing he is a 17 year old I figured this watch would be the best bet in being able to live through a few years of abuse and so far I have not been disappointed .
The kid loves this watch and the functionality and toughness are perfect for him . I always wanted a G Shock when I was a kid , but never had the opportunity to own one , so it's nice to see someone else appreciate something I never got to use .

Bought this G-Shock as a present for my husband for fathers day and he absolutely loved it . He's had a few and he said this one does the job for what he needs .
110 4 I just get this watch a few days ago . I buyed it because the really agressive look it sport . I have had previously a Casio HD600 for 18 months so I already knew the gimmick of this watches . In this model was aditionally important to me : 200 meter WR , shock & mud ressistance , the automatic light feature and the mineral glass . The buttons are stiff but not unpleasant . The only two things I would add are a bilingual week days ( English-Spanish ) and a 60 / 40 distribution of the dial for the hour-date display , since you look the time much more than the date . The price on Amazon was the lowest . Vicente .

I just got this watch today and may I say it is a really cool looking watch . I'm not used to wearing watches so it might take some time to get used to wearing one . Just from the looks of this watch it really looks like it can withstand a beating . It was worth every penny . I recommend this watch to everyone .

This watch is amazing , what you see and read is exactly what you get . The buttons are a little stiff though but that just adds to the toughness of it . The band seemed very comfortable as soon as i put it on it felt like it wasn't there . Excellent watch 10 out of 10

It was uncomfortable to wear . The fit was completely unrefined . In fact I went with my original instinct ( i was going to buy the GW 5600 - J originally but didn't want to wait , but I found out it wouldn't take as long to get it ) . The GW 5600 - J is a much more comfortable watch ( it is still a gshock and they are not the most comfortable ones for sure but offer many functions , rugged durability , and cool looks .
Back to the mudman :
It has these nubs on the back of the piece that are hard plastic - - totally uncomfortable compared to a normal flat back , I see no advantage except maybe they don't case as much sweat or something . But even still totally not worth it . I returned this watch and got a GW5600 - J . I would recommend anything other than the mudman for a classic gshock fit .
