Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun, Gourmet Spicy Picante, 4.2-Ounce Packages (Pack of 20)

  • 001 4  These noodles remind me of home ! I'm originally from California where it's fairly easy to find all types of Asian food , but now that I live in Wisconsin , I'm realizing that those days are over . So I was pretty psyched when these noodles popped up on the Amazon goldbox deal a week ago . They are really spicy and go great with napa cabbage , bean sprouts , and any other veggies you want . I tried them with egg earlier tonight after reading one of the other reviews on amazon , and it was amazing ! Highly recommended for people who love spicy food , but also recommended for those ( like me ) who don't . . . just add half the seasoning packet !
    • 022 4  this bad boy can get pretty spicy ! if you cook a bag you can definitely smell the spicyness , but that's what i bought it for : ) definitely found a good deal on this thanks to Amazon !
    • 081 4  These are perhaps the best instant noodles available ; hot & spicy , and substantive , it'll satiate any craving for a snack , anytime . The product was shipped in good condition from Amazon ( USPS ) . Convenient !

  • 018 4  I really love this soup so much I have it on automatic order refill . I will be getting a box every three months ! Nice and spicy and great flavor . I like to throw a few pieces of leftover chicken or pork in the bowl and it is delicious . Move over Ramen Noodles , there is a new kid on the block and he is big ! . . . If you don't like hot chillies don't buy this one it really does have a bite to it ! !
    • 032 4  I generally like my food spicy , but these noodles are just too hot for me . So much so that it takes away from the taste . Unless you really , really , really like spicy hot food food , these may be too much for you .
    • 057 4  I love this compared to the ones I used to eat , like Nissin and Maruchan . You can really tell the difference .
    • 067 4  It is hot and delicious . the noodle is very good . although later I found it a little cheaper at local Asian food mart .
    • 077 4  I love these noodle . A little to spicy for the wife but perfct for me .
    • 093 4  I can't believe this product has such high review . The noodles taste like rubber and it is NOT spicy at all . Please just go to your local oriental store and look for ramen made from japan or korea . Those noodles actually have a nice texture and the spices they use are actually spicy .

  • 026 4  I've always like spicy food & after living in Korea for a couple of years , I was delighted to find this Ramyun which is head & shoulders above any other ' ramen ' that I've found in a grocery store . The noodles are more substantial , the flavor packet has a lot of flavor & the dried ' veggies ' packet rounds it all off to make one of the best available . I was doubly delighted that Amazon made it so easy to order & even sweetened the deal by putting it on sale . Very satisfied !
    • 013 4  These are , by far , the best Ramen Noodles I've ever had the pleasure of eating . I practically lived on this stuff when I was in college . A packet is included containing the spices which allows you to control the level of heat in the dish by adding more or less of the contents to the noodles . One important note , the spices provide a tasty spicy hot , not a hot-just-to-be-hot flavor .

  • 030 4  This product was good as are most instant asian noodles . . . . be careful about using the full package of flavoring as it is very hot . . . . the dried condiments are ok . . . . I prefer to eat this package with some chicken broth added . . . . then wait about ten or fifteen minutes until the noodles get rehydrated . . . . a relativewly low calorie lunch .
    • 008 4  I love these noodles . The quality is a cut above cup-o-noodles . However , if you use the entire seasoning package they will be too spicy for most Americans . Fortunately , you do not have to add all of the seasoning . So most people who like spicy food should be able to enjoy these . I will watch the sales and buy them again .
    • 043 4  I love this noodle and have it once or twice a week . The amazing thing is that when I don't feel well because of a cold , a hot bowl of this noodle will cure my upset stomach , headache , and running nose ! This may not work for you , but you should definitely try it .

  • 049 4  my first exposure to shin ramyun was about 10 years back at a japanese grocer . all that was available were the shin cups which i picked up as i thought they looked to be the best seller there . at almost $2 a cup it became a pricey treat for me as i feel in love immediately . the hearty noodles , the rich fiery broth and endless ways to dress it up . i never found the packaged noodles until recently and with the subscription service i am now always stocked and at a price that cannot be beat . my current favorite to make a package into a meal is adding in a scallions , sliced mushrooms , broccoli sprouts and an egg poached in the broth .
    • 066 4  This deal was on the Lightning Deal for $ [ . . . ] and now i fell in love with this Ramen ! Im mexican so the only instant soup is that you find in the grocery store , and let me tell you that thing is crap compare to this .
    • 085 4  Excellent buy if purchase is over $25 to qualify for free shipping . Still okay otherwise but not nearly as good .
    • 090 4  I do like these noodles although , to say they are spicy is somewhat of an understatement . No one else in the family tolerates spicy very well so , seeing these , I was looking forward to an extra little something for the palate . I was not disappointed . To be completely honest , I usually drain most of the liquid as it is almost too much !

  • 073 4  Just about any nong shim soup is good . Most of them are very spicy and addicting . I really like the chicken and original spicy noodles . . . Yeah it has MSG but just about every soup does including name brand soups like Cambells and Chef Boyardee its in a lot of salty foods ! The list goes on including chips ! So don't complain about that ! Its to be expected ! Just dont overdo it by eating a bunch of these its just not good for you just like eating a bunch of salty chips isnt good for you . . . But anyway this stuff is AWESOME and it is not for any one who hates spicyness because this stuff is hot ! But its packed with soo much flavor , it makes those 15 cent ramen noodles taste like noodles in salt water . These are worth the extra cash because this is quality .
    • 041 4  This is my favorite brand of Korean ramen . It is spicy so if you are not used to eating spicy food , make sure you don't use all of the spice pack . If you add an egg to the soup , it makes a great snack .
    • 062 4  Just be sure and try 1 packet before plunking down $19 for the whole crate of 20 . Bought a pack at the store today and could not get past the 2nd bite . The heat is intense , but the flavor is flat . It's probably better once you dress it up with a poached egg or some veggies , but it wasn't the flavorful kind of spicy I was looking for .

  • 075 4  I bought these on a whim because they were a deal of the day . Boy am I glad that I did . As a big fan of Maruchan and Top Ramen , I read the reviews and saw that these were very close to the real thing . The noodles have such a great consistency and cook in just 4 - 5 minutes . Very al dente , even after they sit in your bowl for 5 minutes cooling down . Another plus for me was the fact that there isn't only the flavor packet but a vegetable packet as well . That vegetable packet adds another dimension to the soup . As other reviewers have stated before , this is for the Spicy Picante pack . If you can't handle spice then I suggest using a 1 / 4 of the spice packet . If you are a seasoned professional then use the whole thing . My first time around I did that and found myself actually finding it overwhelming and I ALWAYS eat everything hot and spicy including Jalapenos . So from now on , it is half a packet for me . Take a chance . . . they are great ; can't wait to try other flavors now !
    • 004 4  My husband and I have eating these since college . 10 years later , we still love it . We usually get them from the asian supermarket , but the price is actually better on Amazon . If you love spicy stuff , you will love this . I don't eat things that are too spicy , so when I make it for myself , I only put in half the spice package . Yummy !
    • 040 4  My family like all kind of Ramyun . I like spicy but my children doesn't . But this Rymyun my chuildren like very much . All family enjoy Shin Ramyun .
    • 068 4  What can I say ? They are very spicy , tasty noodles . My wife loves these noodles and buys them from an asian market that is about 20 miles away from the house . I'm very happy Amazon sells them for a comparable price and includes free shipping ( as of the time of this review ) . It saves us the expense and hassle of driving across town .
    • 079 4  My late father in law used to have a rating system for meals : if it was particularly tasty , he'd say This tastes like more ! That's exactly how I felt the first time I tried a spicy picante ramyun . I ordered these on a whim when they were featured as a gold box deal . I'd enjoyed ramen noodles in the past , so even though I'd never tried this brand , I figured for less than a dollar a package , I could afford to take a chance . Boy am I glad I did ! They were spicy , flavorful and delicious . I immediately wanted a second helping and had to talk myself out of it . I used less water than it called for but the full spice packet , and I think that combination intensified the flavors . The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because of the strange dried meat bits that popped up every once in a while . The tough texture of the mystery meat kind of threw me off my game , but luckily I only found them when I was almost finished . I'd recommend these to any ramen lover ( adjusting the spice to taste for some ) .

  • 092 4  Sorry but I had these noodles and they are no better then the 10 - 20 cent version . THE ONLY difference is the spices - oh wait I can buy the same spice for one dollar a jar from McCormic . Anyway the food is fine - but at over one dollar a pouch - it is FAR from worth it . Go to Walmart of the local grocery store and buy the ones for one tenth the price .
    • 028 4  I bought this product strictly on the review of others and they were right , these noodles are great , way better than top ramen . I will be buying these again .
    • 083 4  I just love it and will buy another box when I'm done with last one !

  • 094 4  I was just about to buy this , until I saw in the ingredients that it contains MSG . At least this product description tells you ( the others don't ) . If you are like me , that means you'll get a nasty headache after eating this . How about offering MSG-free noodles like I can get locally ?
    • 002 4  This Ramen is the best Ramen in the world . It is very spicy and has great flavor . It is so much better than the $ .10 Ramen you find in your avg . grocery store . Authentic Korean ramen . Add some egg to it , and you'll be in Ramen Heaven . So so good .
    • 064 4  Delisheous . Easy to make in the microwave . The spicey picante is a little hotter than chile powder . I say check it out , you'll love it .

  • Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) Don't under estimate the appeal of salt and cayenne ( red ) pepper for many soup lovers and reviewers . That includes me . However , this is nothing more than a watery Noodle Soup with lots of Red Pepper and a tremendous amount of salt . Add an egg and it tastes much better . Chop up some scallion and it further improves . There is nothing terribly impressive about this soup YET I like It . This dry soup mix consists of a large packet of noodles ( essentially tasteless yet ladened with 500 calories of saturated fats ) and two much smaller packets . One of these small packets contains less than a tablespoon of chopped dried vegetables and the other is a spice packet consisting largely of salt and red ( cayenne ) pepper . Add some water and you have 2 1 / 2 cups of soup . Impressions : Beyond the watery base ( there are no thickeners ) , my first impression was that of salt followed - - - - after a few more spoonfuls - - of the emerging heat of cayenne pepper . As is typical with cayenne pepper , the heat builds up on the palate over time . Some might call this soup medium hot but for many I'd imagine they would call it very hot . However , it easy to adjust the heat level - just add less of the salt / spice packet . But the only real tastes here are those of salt and cayenne pepper . The noodles are essentially tasteless and the vegetable packet is so small that it can add nothing more than visual appeal . However , I'll say it again , don't under estimate the appeal of salt and cayenne pepper ! This soup can be greatly improved by cracking an egg into the mix and stirring it in during the last minute of boiling . The egg not only adds a much needed third taste but also thickens the soup considerably . I was quite surprised how much an egg improved this soup . Make no mistake - adding an egg really changes the character of the soup . At the $10.00 I paid - with shipping - for a case of 20 - - this soup was a good value . I'd give this soup 3 or 4 stars with an egg but I'm a bit biased toward anything hot . Maybe 3 stars with an egg is most appropriate and 1 or 2 stars is more accurate for this soup without an egg ? HEALTH WATCH : One packet of this soup provides almost 90% of an individual's daily allowance of salt ! ! ! ! ! That is a stunning amount of SALT . Plus this soup has 40% of the daily allowance of saturated fats ( thanks to the palm oil used to fry the noodles ) . This is probably not a soup you would want to have more than once a month . It is shame the company choose palm oil to fry its noodles in ( presumably to save a few cents ) and added so much salt . It makes this soup needlessly unhealthy . It is , in fact , a poster child for all that is wrong with processed foods . This is needless , and could be easily rectified . Heads Up : Reviews of this company's products always have a number of 5 star ratings generated by One Time Only Amazon reviewers . Once they have promoted this company's product - they never publish another review ! Who motivated these reviewers ? The one thing which is certain is that these reviewers were certainly dedicated in their desire to promote this company's products . A similar pattern can be seen for ALL the other soups made by this company . Finally , everyone should keep in mind how hard it is to believe that any dried soup with a tiny flavor packet could ever rate 5 stars among people that have a serious love of soup . My thanks to the previous reviewers who suggested adding an egg . It made a world of difference THIS SAME SOUP IS SOLD in CASE LOTS OF : 20 PACKAGES , 30 PACKAGES or 40 PACKAGES . ALL OF WHICH ARE LISTED SEPARATELY ON AMAZON . The prices differ on a package by package basis too . Generally the 30 pack , which ships for free , is the better value . My recipe : use only 1 / 2 or 2 / 3 of the supplied salt / cayenne ( spice ) packet add a 1 / 8 teaspoon of ground cumin add a bay leaf whisk in an egg during the last minute of boiling add some chopped scallions just prior to serving
    • 055 4  After seeing these hyped up over and over again as the best ramyun noodles , I had to try them . Verdict after two boxes ? They're OK . Every review on here is how flavorful and SPICY these are . Well , they do taste pretty good . Do they taste that much better than the 10 cent ramyun at the local grocery store ? To my taste , they don't . I will concede they are slightly better and certainly more filling . As far as spicy . . I'm so confused on this . Every review says to use half a packet as these will burn your mouth off . So needless to say , I was expecting HEAT ! These aren't spicy at all . To give you a frame of reference , I'm usually sweating after eating hot wings at Applebees . If you've ever gone to Buffalo Wild Wings , I have a difficult time eating the Asian Zing wings . I can't tolerate heat very well . However , I have a pretty mild burn going on in my mouth after eating a bowl with full spice , and it's not unpleasant enough to warrant a drink . So , all in all , not bad noodles . Don't think I'd ever pay $20 for them again , though .

  • Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) These are excellent inexpensive noodles but they are quite salty for someone who rarely adds salt to food , even when cooking , as I do ! They are more expensive than grocery store Ramen and taste a good deal better but seem to have about the same destructive amounts of salt - 2020 mg or about 80% daily salt intake / bag which claims to be 2 servings but I assume that most adults would consume the lot unless using this as only part of a meal rather than a quick comfort food . Other reviews alerted me to this and following their recommendation , I only used 1 / 2 the soup base package . I added some dehydrated green onions and dried oinions when preparing on the stovetop and added a fresh egg , covering it with the noodles after removing from the heat . This had excellent flavor and with half of the salt , I did not feel like my blood pressure would be so imperiled as I had used the whole soup packet . I like and regularly consume very spicy food ( I frequently consume 4 - 5 jalapenos with a meal ) but as prepared it was quite delicious and spicy enough . There are other brands of noodles that I frequently buy from Amazon Annie Chun's Korean Sweet Chili Noodle Bowl , 8.4 - Ounce Units ( Pack of 6 ) that I relish but the salt is still high and the price is somewhat higher . I will alternate varieties in the future . I only eat Asian Noodles no more than once a week since I do have some sodium issues . I am on disability and do not get out often from my house in the country so I have tried many of the long shelf life foods that Amazon sells . They sell many dehydrated vegetables in medium sized quantities that make them easy to have on hand and still be way cheaper than grocery store prices . I even found some non refrigerated tofu Mori-Nu Tofu , Lite , Silken , Firm , 12.3 - Ounce Boxes ( Pack of 12 ) that I have received but not yet tried . The customer reviews claim that it is excellent quality and it is actually cheaper than the fresh brand offered in the local grocery . I expect to add some to my next bowl of noodles and the soups that I frequently make from scratch .
    • 003 4  Giving 5 stars so more people will read , actually rate it @ 4 stars . From what I can tell , American made Ramen is worse in general For unknown reasons , even though I cook with the same pot I would in Korea , perhaps it is the stovetop instead of the gas stove I would use in Korea , the ramen is harder to cook to the right degree , probably meaning that the noodles were prepared differently in the factories . As for the spiciness factor , anybody who eats regular asian / indian hot foods should be able to taste the flavor behind the spice . In my opinion , everybody here complaining about the whole spice packet being too much must have grown up on hotdogs and hamburgers , or equally not-spicy foods . A tip when cooking the noodles is to cool them in air while the noodles are boiling . Repeat until you see noodles become firmer , perhaps about 5 fork / chopstickfulls for the whole bowl ( alot of noodles per utensil-full ) and you can taste the difference . As always , eggs , garlic , ground red pepper , sri rancha ( ? ) sauce or other condiments are good . In Korea the standard for cooked ramen would include 1egg , green onions , sometimes onions , and sometimes small dumplings . Red meats are okay to put in , but are less cost-to-taste effective when compared to hams or dumplings .
    • 005 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) These noodles are quite spicy and a big bowl of food . They are , however , a very flexible base for simple meals . You can control the spiciness ( and sodium level ) by how much of the seasoning packet you put in and you can add cooked meats and other vegetables to the soup to make variety . I've found that poaching an egg or two in the soup is very tasty , as well . Far superior quality of noodle to most grocery store brands .

    • 009 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I'll start off by saying that Nong shim's products in general are of a higher standard than their competitors . Even their noodles have a much better consistency and are more flavorful than other brands such as nissin . With that said , lets get to the review of the Spicy Picante flavor . The first thing anyone notices when they try this is just how spicy it is . It is SPICY . I love spicy foods and this will probably make your nose run . I absolutely love it though . If you think it is too spicy , you can probably use less of the seasoning packet . . so theres some room to fit individual taste . The package contains both a seasoning packet and some dried vegetables to add so you can definitely make a meal out of this if you add some egg or something . I usually just eat it as is . Overall , I think the flavor is great and I really recommend it for people that like spicy foods . You'll never go back to the cheaper , tasteless stuff again .

    • 011 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) Stacks of these shin ramyun are stored and sold at each and every Korean airport Duty Free Shops ( in a different packing style ) . I for one am not complaining for buying it at an average of under 1 buck a bag . Extra spice needed if you are really in for the hot flavor . Cooking it in a stone pot with an extra egg , some fresh kimchi and some beef ( or spam ; ) will bring out the real korean taste .
    • 014 4  i'm korean , so my family always has a box of shin ramyun at home . They are always so useful when my family has nothing to eat . As some reviewers mentioned , ramyun contains msg , so even though they taste good they are not the healthiest food on earth . Anyways , i'm reading reviews that say that vegetables are too stiff and that they dont like too much soup in their ramyun . As it says on the back of every package , put in the amount of water they recommend . boil the water . add the vegetables and the noodle . let the noodle . . . become noodles.by boiling it longer , then the vegetables will turn soft too . add the soup . cook a little bit more so that the soup sinks it . but dont let the noodles become overcooked ( it's when the noodles turn fat cause they soak up the soup ) and most koreans add rice to the soup after cause . . that's what we do . and you could basically anything to ramyun to make it taste better . many people add egg , some people include kimchi , and only some likes to put on a sheet of american cheese on top ( like me . . but put only one , ) and shin ramyun is really hot . but you get used to it .
    • 015 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) Just receive the noodle and try one . The package looks similar but not the same as the one that I got from the Korean market . I just finish the box of Shin noodle that I bought from Korean town so I know the differences right away . I thought I got a good deal and save a trip to Korean town . Guess not , I am wrong . I am going to the Korean town this weekend to get the real stuff . A little disappointed , I really want my authentic spicy red Korean Shin instant noodle tonight . . . This Shin noodle is made in the USA and it is a American version of the very popular Korean instant noodle . This American version is only one-third as spicy and the noodle get soft and mushy very fast like the regular instant noodle . The dry vegetable package does not go soft even after 10 minutes . To use the dry vegs in the future , need to soak it for at least 30 minutes so the dry mushroom will get soft . The spice package is orange color , the real Korean Shin noodle is bright red in color and the noodle will not get mushy after 10 minutes . I think it is something to do with the red pepper that the Korean use and not the picante in this USA version . It is spicy but taste totally different than the Korean kind of red pepper which make it so special . Really want to return it but since I got it with the lightning deal discount , I will eat it like regular instant noodle to save the hazzle . So beware if anyone reading this is Korean or have tried the real Korean Shin instant noodle . This is not the real thing , do not order this and do not pay full price for this American version of the Shin noodle . Before I was skeptical when reading some of the reviews with only 1 star , now I know they are right .

    • 017 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I really love this soup so much I have it on automatic order refill . !
    • 019 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) This is the most delicious ramen . When purchased in bulk , it's not too much more expensive than the terrible ramen you more commonly see at the grocery store . If you throw an egg or two in while it's cooking , you've got yourself a masterpiece .
    • 021 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) this bad boy can get pretty spicy ! if you cook a bag you can definitely smell the spicyness , but that's what i bought it for : ) definitely found a good deal on this thanks to Amazon !
    • 023 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I've bought these a few times for my husband to take to work and he LOVES them . When he runs out , he always wants more . They're very spicy , though , so if you don't like hot hots you're better off going with something else . We love spicy , so it's perfect for us .
    • 025 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I've always like spicy food & after living in Korea for a couple of years , I was delighted to find this Ramyun which is head & shoulders above any other ' ramen ' that I've found in a grocery store . The noodles are more substantial , the flavor packet has a lot of flavor & the dried ' veggies ' packet rounds it all off to make one of the best available . I was doubly delighted that Amazon made it so easy to order & even sweetened the deal by putting it on sale . Very satisfied !
    • 027 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I bought this product strictly on the review of others and they were right , these noodles are great , way better than top ramen . I will be buying these again .
    • 029 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) This product was good as are most instant asian noodles . . . . be careful about using the full package of flavoring as it is very hot . . . . the dried condiments are ok . . . . I prefer to eat this package with some chicken broth added . . . . then wait about ten or fifteen minutes until the noodles get rehydrated . . . . a relativewly low calorie lunch .
    • 031 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I generally like my food spicy , but these noodles are just too hot for me . So much so that it takes away from the taste . Unless you really , really , really like spicy hot food food , these may be too much for you .
    • 033 4  Nong Shim and this flavor especially ( love the heat and spiciness ) is by far the best ramen I've tasted . Introduced to me by a Japanese friend , I've been hooked on this brand ever since , This is not like any of those 5 / $1 ramen packs you see in every grocery store - this is a real ramen noodle . Highly recommended - but spicy - so beware !
    • 034 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I first picked up Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun in a local Asian Specialty store near my office . I needed a cheap lunch and this was my choice . Since that day I continued to buy it a couple packages at a time to keep at work for those days when I don't have a lunch planned . Now though I have an entire case because Amazon had such a great price . It's easy to cook up in the microwave and very filling . The one change I make is that I only use about 1 / 2 the seasoning pack , any more and it's too spicy for me to finish the entire bowl . Also I'm one of those picky people that doesn't like mushrooms and there are usually a couple small dried pieces in the vegetable pack that I pick out . Minor I know , BUT if you don't like mushrooms it's something you should know . While I still buy the other ramen for home because my kids like it , Nong Shim has won me over with theirs and it's my treat to myself .

    • 036 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) As far as packaged ramen goes , this stuff is about as good as it gets . I haven't found any other ramen that I like as much as this . Most ramen I eat as drained noodles sprinkled with the seasoning packet , but this one is much better as a soup . The seasoning is far too spicy to eat these noodles dry , but the seasoning packet is perfect for seasoning soup . Other types of ramen don't make the kind of flavorful soup that this one makes , but there is enough flavor in one packet of this stuff to flavor a LOT of water ! A word of warning . . . this soup is VERY spicy . I regularly eat hot wings , spicy potato chips , and I put extra hot sauce in spicy chili . I like spicy food . But this stuff is pretty harsh . If you're very sensitive to spicy foods , I would avoid this one . If you're mildly sensitive to spicy foods , just use a little extra water in the soup . I wouldn't say this stuff is over-the-top spicy , but it has a pretty strong kick . I think the thing I like most about this type of ramen is how flavorful the noodles themselves are , even when they are made as a soup . When I make ramen as a soup with other types , the noodles are almost flavorless . But these noodles really soak up the flavoring very well . The one complaint I have is that I don't care for the vegetables that come in the vegetable packet . Fortunately , they are separate , so I just don't put them in . I find that they don't get soft enough , and I don't like the texture or flavor of the vegetables .

    • 038 4  That's pretty much what these ramen noodles has , spiciness . I love spicy noodles like the next guy but even after using only half the packet , it still leaves your mouth hot and spicy . And can barely appreciate the quality of taste these noodles are suppose to bring . It's like when you order the most spiciest buffalo wild wings . You cannot taste the meat but just how hot they are . The same can be said about these supposedly top brand ramen noodles .
    • 039 4  I been to several places around the world , including Russia and Mongolia . There , if you ask for ramen , this ramen ( Shin Ramen ) is the one they give you . it's the best ! While by itself is tasty , to enhance the flavor , i often throw in shrimp , mushroom and sliced onion . Mucho delicious !
    • 042 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I love this noodle and have it once or twice a week . The amazing thing is that when I don't feel well because of a cold , a hot bowl of this noodle will cure my upset stomach , headache , and running nose ! This may not work for you , but you should definitely try it .
    • 045 4  This is an incredible product , and to the few reviewers who felt the noodles weren't as good as they remember them : as far as I can tell , there are two versions of Shin . Like other reviews on here mention , I got these noodles at my local asian market and they were awesome - thick , springy noodles that put regular ramen to shame . I then saw Shin at my regular grocery store , and picked some up - big difference . The noodles were thinner and had no bite to them , nothing like the ones that turned me on to this brand . I opened up one of the packs I got from the Asian market to make sure , and they're definitely different noodles . So , maybe the ones I got at my regular store came from a bad batch etc . , but it seems more likely that there's an American and Korean version , with the ones sold in American stores using a noodle that's more like what Americans are used to . In any case , see for yourself : the product is hot , spicy and incredibly flavorful . A great buy regardless of the noodle . But if , like the rest of us , you fall in love with these noodles and find yourself craving them , head down to your local Asian market to try the Shin they sell there . It's a bit better , but both are head-and-shoulders better than the 10 - cent ramen bricks most of us know as ramen .
    • 046 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) These are excellent inexpensive noodles but they are quite salty for someone who rarely adds salt to food , even when cooking , as I do !

    • 050 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I've tried many noodle varieties over the years and these are by far the best . A little spicy , but very flavorful . Try them with some scrambled egg and chopped green onions for a tasty breakfast .
    • 052 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) Excellent product ! Definitely higher quality than what I found in the local stores . My first time making them in the microwave they turned out perfect and the taste was very good . I am very happy with this purchase so I got them on subscribe . You can flavor these noodles with your favorite beef or chicken or vegetable base . It only takes a small amount of base .
    • 054 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) After seeing these hyped up over and over again as the best ramyun noodles , I had to try them .
    • 056 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I love this compared to the ones I used to eat , like Nissin and Maruchan . You can really tell the difference .

    • 069 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I have purchased this noodle from local supermarket for years . Due to the rising cost of everything , it got more expensive then ever . I was please to find that Amazon carry this , with the promotional offer , I paid a lot less then the market , and the delivery was quick too . About the taste , it is spicy , I don't put whole pack of seasoning at once . The portion also good enough , 4.2 - ounce compare to some smaller package . It's good buy , I am very happy with it .
    • 071 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) This stuff is awesome ! It has the right amount of spice ( a-lot ) and the noodles are much thicker and more flavorful than the standard $ .10 a pack stuff . Don't get me wrong , I love regular Top Ramen , but this is so much better . Throw in some left over chicken ( or even better , tri-tip ) , frozen corn and peas , an egg , and you have an excellent meal . Add an ice cold beer , and you will be in foody heaven .

    • 074 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I bought these on a whim because they were a deal of the day .
    • 076 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I love these noodle . A little to spicy for the wife but perfct for me .
    • 078 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) My late father in law used to have a rating system for meals : if it was particularly tasty , he'd say This tastes like more !

    • 086 4  This is best selling and most popular ramyun in Korea . It has been copied by many Chinese companies . This is really hot and spicy . . . not for everyone . Comparing with cheap ramyun brand is just non sense . . . . I don't enjoy ramyun as much as others but this is the one I eat !
    • 087 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) flavor could be better , I do like the vegetable packet though . • 089 4  This review is from : Nong Shim Shin Noodle Ramyun , Gourmet Spicy Picante , 4.2 - Ounce Packages ( Pack of 20 ) ( Grocery ) I do like these noodles although , to say they are spicy is somewhat of an understatement . No one else in the family tolerates spicy very well so , seeing these , I was looking forward to an extra little something for the palate . I was not disappointed . To be completely honest , I usually drain most of the liquid as it is almost too much !
