I have had no problems with the wireless internet and the phone system to date . I even get reception at the bottom of my 3 story house . I ordered the extra handset and now there is a better chance that you will find a reciever on the house level your on when the phone rings too . I can even walk anywhere on my 1 / 2 acre and get reception .

014 4 I've owned this phone for about a month now , and have been very pleased with all aspects of it thus far . I'm using it with a VoIP device , and it works really well . Great range , no interference , and a rich feature set ( though I'm not using all the capabilities of the phone ) are some of the positives of this phone . Voice caller i.d . is pretty slick , and I really like the backlit keypad and large , easy-to-read display . Speakerphone is nice , and the handsets work well with a headset ( purchased one of those with this system too ) . Other than the great reviews , the one aspect I particularly like and a great selling point of this phone is the fact that the handsets don't use proprietary battery packs . . . . . . you know , the ones that eventually go bad and cost you a fortune to replace . These handsets each use 2 standard AAA Ni-mh rechargeable batteries , which are common and readily available , and not nearly as expensive as the proprietary packs . Another reviewer also commented on the packaging . I couldn't believe how small the box was for something that contained a 5 - handset system . . . . . very impressive ! Anyway , couldn't be happier with a product like this for the price I paid . I was looking at a V-Tech system when I came across this one , but am glad I went with this one now that I have it . A very nice , quality product for the money !
039 4 I tried these phone because of the features and the price . I really liked that it announces who is calling . I like being able to put a phone in every room . what I don't like is the sound quality of the phones ( an echo ) and the fact that you can only store 50 numbers .

We now have phones all throughout the house and can even walk outside and down the street ( I don't know how far , but this isn't something we would normally do ) and continue to talk and hear quite well . We also kept our old ( three units ) Panasonic phones active and now have eight handy phones throughout the house and garage .

Quality construction ( made in Malaysia , not China ) and easy to use all of the features without having to resort to the instructions . The speaker phone feature works particularly well even from the handsets . Sound quality is great . Battery life is never an issue . The only thing I can criticize is the odd , rounded shape of the back of the handsets which make it impossible to cradle one between your ear and shoulder - reliably the handset will slip and fall to the floor . Speaker phone feature solves that , of course .
177 4 It has an intercom feature that allows me to call any handset in the house and it uses a different ring . That way the other person knows that it is someone from within the house calling . I can also set different rings tone songs for specific outside callers . That way my son knows that it is his mom calling even if the id says ' wireless caller ' . He only answers the phone if it is me . This is a wonderful safety feature when you have children home by themselves ( obviously old enough and for limited time . : - ) ) I have only had it for 1 month and I haven't had any dealings with battery life . It is MUCH better than my old system ( same brand - older model ) It is well worth getting all of the phones on the same system .

084 4 I have had this phone KX-TG6445 for about 3 months.It does everything very nice.no defects were noted.the first thing to remember is never loose the manual.Due to its many features , panasonic devised feature codes to set up things like alarms , intercom , talking caller id , etc . Feature codes are on 2 + pages on its operating instructions book.Once a feature code is activated the set up is very easy.Again never loose the manual.A very feature packed phone set.Each handset has a number 1 thru 6 . So if you want to use intercom from one handset to another you must know what number is on that particular handset , in my case i have to remember 5 handsets , living room has #3 handset.kind of sucks trying to remember which room has a certain number-wish it could be changed to a word not number.I just thought of putting a sticker on the back each handset showing what number phone where it is.Dect 6.0 has excellant range , great clearity.Batterys can be bought anywhere uses aaa rechargeable.I wish i bought this sooner , I really love its features , love its quality , great sound in its speakerphone on base and handsets.large and easy to read displays.now The bad . . useless wall mounting adaptor , the base is flat not angled so it sticks out in the room.please use on some table.also the handsets charging bases can only be used only on tables due to no adaptors to place on walls or hang on telephone outlets . The large display is much better than our old Uniden phones and the talking ID is very handy for me . I agree with the other reviewers that I wish it had more ring tones than it does . Our old Uniden has 5 times as many sounds and songs that can be applied to different callers . I listen for the tunes when family members call rather than wait for the talking ID . All in all it is a good buy . I couldn't find one with more features .

205 4 I like this multi-handset phone system as I am a disabled vet and these phones are placeable in many rooms in my large two-story home . My only regret is that one has to go through several steps to reach someone on the intercom , which my old Panasonic system didn't require . As well if you dial a particular intercom and the person is in a room with a different intercom number , they cannot just answer it . Specifically , one has to dial the exact intercom number for each phone , instead of the connection being universal . Otherwise , this set is a smart buy with an attractive look , good sound quality , and a minimum of set-up . I would definitely recommend this set for purchase .

138 4 I bought this phone set to replace my previous 2.4GHz Panasonic Cordless / Answering Machine set . The old set lasted a solid five years , which is the longest I have ever had one last out here in rural Arizona . It just isn't worth trying to replace a base unit plus a bunch of old batteries when you can buy a whole set for less money .
I like a lot of things about this new set . The display is much easier to read , and I really like the feel of the handsets . The button layout is simplified , and functions well . The battery life appears to be longer . My WiFi performance is a little stronger now that we do not have another system sharing the same frequency range ( although the old systems did not directly interfere with each other ) . I like the fact that the speed dial directory no longer has to be copied to each handset .
I have one primary complaint with the new system , and that is its reception range . I live in a remote area , and it was really great when the Gigarange series first came out for us . We were finally able to keep a phone in the shop and down at the corrals without the need to trench and run phone wires there . The corrals are about 60 feet from the base unit , while the shop is closer to 150 feet . When I set up the new system , I put all the phones in the same spots as the old ones . I cannot reliably obtain a signal in the shop . I guess having to go through the second set of walls is too much for this new system . Panasonic makes a booster unit for similar products sold in England , but it will not work with the North American version because the frequencies are a little different .
The range issue would not be that big of a deal if you were going to use your phones inside the home , or maybe out on the porch or during a walk to the end of the driveway to get the mail . If you are planning to use it in a farm or ranch application , though , you're going to run out of signal strength in your outbuildings .

2 . Speaker phone volume is too low even on highest volume .
3 . System is very base-centric whereby if someone
is using one of the phones , the other phones
cannot retreive caller ids on recent calls , etc .
as the data appears to be stored at the base as
opposed to each individual phone and when someone
is using any other handset , the base is busy
and cannot respond to any other handset inquiry
regarding the phone book or caller id list , etc .
007 4 After lots of research into cordless phones , reading lots of reviews and ratings , I decided on this phone setup for our sprawling ranch home and it is a perfect match for our needs .
It does not interfere with our wireless internet or microwave , all of the handsets have a perfect connection to the base station no matter how far from it they are in our house , the sound quality of the calls is very good . The large LCD displays and large lighted buttons make it very easy to use even in the dark . I love how all the handsets are networked so the programming made to one is instantly set in all of them . The phones are very simple to set up for immediate use , but if you're a gadget geek like me and enjoy tweaking and exploring the full functionality of all the features , there is a lot to play with on these phones . Call blocking , sleep mode , alarm and intercom are some of my favorite features . I also like how you can program the phone to dial your voicemail retrieval number including password so you can easily retrieve voicemails without punching in a bunch of numbers every time . You can also program the phone to do the same thing with other phone numbers that involve entering digits and pausing , as when navigating through an automated call system . All those numbers and pauses can be programmed in on a speed-dial type setup .
I've been through several sets of these types of linked phones before , and have always had a problem with interference , or losing connection to the base station , or even the stupid proprietary batteries that some of them require . This phone setup seems to have solved all of my previous problems , and I think it is worth every penny I spent .
009 4 This phone set more than exceeds my expectations and I would highly recommend it to others . The price was reasonable and I have not had any problems with the answering machine or the handsets .
It is so nice to be able to locate a handset and its base unit in a room without regard to whether or not there is a phone jack nearby . All you need is an electrical outlet to plug in the base unit .
One very nice feature is the ability to block any telemarketing calls . As soon as I get one of these calls , I add the number to the list of blocked callers . Next time they call , the phone rings once before the call is ended . It would have been nice to have not received even one ring , but this is a minor point .
Another helpful feature is the ability to designate a number in your phone list to ring with a distinctive tone . There are several choices you can select from . So , for example , you could designate a particular ring just for family members . Or , give different people different ring tones . Additionally , phone calls from numbers in your phone list will display with the person's name on the handsets .
All-in-all , I don't see how you can go wrong with this phone set .

The thing I really love is that you do NOT have to do the transfer routine to have someone else answer the call if you answered it first .
You can also set the phones so that when the phone rings and you answer the line is live . This is great especially at night when I can't see the talk button without my glasses !

016 4 Positives : Simple to set up with not too much complication , just follow the menu numbers and away you go . The phones feel nice and have nice large numbers . Reception is good throughout the house and garage with no static and just a bit of hiss . The answering machine records well . Handset-to-handset calls and transfers works well . I bought a ear piece and microphone for one of the handsets and it works well allowing hands free talking .
Negatives : There is no audible beep to indicate awaiting messages on the machine but it does have a flashing light on all the remotes .
018 4 I am coming from an older 2.4 Ghz VTech that has started failing . After reading great reviews of Panasonic phones , I tried this one for 2 days , but will have to return .
Call Quality : There is a constant background static on the incoming voice . People could hear me fine , though , without very little static .
Display : The font for the # display is too large , so that a normal 10 digit phone number doesn't even fit on one line . Instead it wraps around to 2 lines . Normally , this would be OK , but only 8 digits fit per line , so 2 digits wrap to the 2nd line . Dialing a 10 digit number displays like this :

Voicemail : Accessing voicemail is nice . The phone indicates you have a message with the indicator light and message on the display . You can program the voicemail # and password so that you can quickly access VM by hitting Talk - > VM . It will dial and enter your password automatically .
Call Log : Accessing the call log is a long 3 step process . You need to hit Menu , Call Log , and then Scroll Down / Up to see the call log . It'd be nice to just hit Up / Down directly from the main screen .
Construction Quality : Feels very light and plasticy . Also , very slim , so hard to hold properly while dialing with one hand .
021 4 I've always bought Panasonic cordless phones in the past , and this purchase initially started off the same as any other , taking everything out of the box I thought how well they're made , they look / feel great , etc . . But after the initial charge , I was really let down the first time I had a conversation with them on a regular call ( NOT on speakerphone ) . When you speak into the mouthpiece , these phones pipe your voice directly to the ear-speaker as well as to the other caller , it feels like you're always interrupting someone , except that the voice coming in your ear is your own ! And your voice is considerably louder than the incoming caller , which only increases that feeling . VERY ANNOYING ! I tried every handset , all of them worked exactly that way , the only way to eliminate the problem is to turn down the handset speaker volume two increments from high , but then of course you can't hear the other caller when THEY speak . . . my wife also has the same opinion of these phones , not at all like our previous panasonics . We aren't yelling into the phone or even loud talkers , we're using regular indoor-voice levels here .
I returned the first set , but the second set worked exactly the same . It's a real shame too because the reception was fine , the range was fine , the speakerphone worked GREAT , no complaints whatsoever except for the way they designed the handset speaker to ' repeat ' everything being spoken into the mic . I've used panasonics for years and never had a complaint with their product , I'm really surprised , but I returned the second set as well , I can't stand the way those speakers duplicate your voice on the handset . This time they lost me , I'm going to have to go with another brand it seems .
022 4 I'm quite pleased with the product . My previous telephone ( also a Panasonic ) had problems holding a charge and it would not show the real battery status . This was fixed by replacing the battery ( you can order them online now - wow ! ) .
I bought this set so I'd have a phone in important rooms . Our house is fairly large and well-built , but I have no problems with connectivity anywhere in the house - I can even go into to the back yard with no problems . The handsets charge quickly and hold their charge well , the sound is good ( my hearing isn't great ) .
So far , I think this was a good value .
023 4 The Panasonic KX-TG6445 phone set is great ; great sound , great range , and overall great performance . But , the impressive list of attributes is marred by some omissions and design flaws that keep me from giving it five stars .
The answering machine function lacks an audible chime or beep to advise you that you have a message . Instead , the non-backlit LCD displays a New Message notice and a small LED light blinks . The base , which is mounted horizontally , also has a steady red light , but its easy to miss if the phone is mounted higher than 4 ' . All of this might be acceptable , but the display is not backlit so you really don't notice the message on the handset , and the LED light is positioned on the top of the handset . . . at the back . When the phone is situated in a cradle , and the room lights are on , you can't see the blinking light . We have positioned a small mirror behind the handset so the blinking light will catch our attention as we enter the kitchen .
There also seems to be a delay in turning on the blinking light . Hours after a message has been left , the light starts blinking on the various extensions . Miss a message and expect to have your sleep interrupted by the bedside handset .
That is our only quibble with a near-perfect product . Panasonic was very close to the perfect phone system for us , and we still like it even with its faults .
037 4 This is the five phone set with answering machine . It replaced separate phones throughout the house . We were having line problems , probably because we were operating on several different cordless frequencies . In addition , each phone had to be programmed individually , each in its own way .
The Panasonic phones ended our sound problems . We have clear sound for the first time in years . Programming is a breeze . When a phone number is entered in one phone , it dialable from all phones . As an intercom , any phone can be called directly and only that phone rings .
The range is far beyond that of our older phones , well in excess of 400 feet and though walls with aluminum siding , with good sound . The phones are very attractive , light weight , and maintain a charge for a long time - - we have yet to find out how long . Each phone also can be used as a speakerphone with adequate
sound .
After looking at several multiple phone sets , I am very pleased that we selected this one .
041 4 All the positives in the other reviews are true - - great sound quality , long battery life ( 3 + hours on a telecon was no problem ) , nice long range ( downstairs kitchen to upstairs bedroom is sparkling clear ) . It's also nice that I don't get interference with this phone while using the handset next to my laptop , which uses a wireless connection . My last cordless handset had a problem this way .
Only a couple small niggles . First , older base units used the more expensive LED numeric display showing the number of messages on the answering machine , with the number flashing to indicate a new message and solidly lit to indicate the number of old ( previously listened-to ) messages . This machine just has a ( small ! ) flashing red arrow in the center of the controller pad to indicate the presence of a new message - - can't tell how many - - and no indication of existing , already-listened to messages . This is mitigated somewhat by the fact that you can get that information from the handsets , but it would be better if the base unit had the numeric display .
Also , I agree with a previous reviewer that it's a bit awkward to wall mount this unit ; the handset must sit upright in a cradle , so wall-mounting simply means hanging the base unit so that it juts out from the wall . It would be nice if the handsets could hang up like old-style wall telephones , hanging from their chin ( so to speak ) rather than sitting on their feet .
Overall though best cordless phone I've had yet .
045 4 I've been using these phones for about a month now and the sound quality is great . No static or interference noise . I am also a little hard of hearing and have no problems hearing anyone on these phones .
IMHO they are definitely worth the money .
048 4 We have had this phone for about a year and two days ago realized that it was time for a new phone . The final straw is that now we cannot hear people talking at all . They can hear us , but we can't hear them . We can't hear them on speaker phone or any of the handsets . This has been a huge disapointment as we have had previous Panasonic phones and they have worked very well for many years . We would have been better off to keep our old phone even though the battery life was diminishing .

Cons :
1 ) Battery life is bad . The handset will show 2 of the three bars for battery life and you will be on the phone for a few minutes and the phone will beep that the battery is dead and then cut off a few second later . The handsets have been this way since we started using the phone . ( We followed all the instructions on how to maximize battery life as well ) .
2 ) Have to constantly reset certain setting e.g . the voicemail detection setting ( we use the phone's answering machine , not the phone service's voice-mail ) .
3 ) Now we can't hear people on the other end of the line when they talk at all .
4 ) Handset performance has differed from handset to handset ( we had to label them bad , good , etc . )
050 4 My wife and I bought this phone to replace ( 2 ) cordless phone systems in our home and it has worked out great . The phone was easy to setup and entering phone numbers in the directory was a snap . I like the common directory feature . Once a number is entered in the phone book it can be used by any of the 5 handsets .
I like the way the phone feels in my hand . It is very comfortable . I like the fact that the handsets use standard AA bateries . No need to go to the shack to replace a special battery pack .
I also like the fact that you can plug a standard headset & microphone into the handsets for those long phone calls . The large display is very easy to read and the buttons are simple and well labeled .
All in all , this is a great product .
053 4 After much research I bought this set a few months back to replace an old 900 MHz digital and a more modern ( but still dated ) 2.4 GHz model . Especially on the latter phone the interference had been terrible , even through just one wall or floor . In contrast , this phone system works great . We now have 5 phones all over the house that are interchangeable . Initially I had started to designate one particular phone for each base location ( for paging from other sites ) but quickly realized that the phones were being swapped for one another so the paging feature has little use for us ( but no fault of the phone , of course ) . The menu system is intuitive ( no need for me to resort to that ultimately unmanly thing of actually looking at the manual ) .
What prompted me to write this review is that while talking to my wife the other day the signal started to drop a bit for the first time that I've ever heard it do that with this phone . I asked where she was ( thinking oh no , it's going bad after a few months ) and was amazed that she had while we were talking put our dog on her leash and walked her up the block to the corner . That's got to be several hundred feet and through multiple walls / obstructions which is incredible to me compared to all previous phones I have owned . Please also keep in mind that our house has a wireless b / g / n router and multiple networked devices adding to the radio ' din ' . I actually bought this locally since I rather expected to need to return it but I would heartily recommend buying it online since it is such a great product . Five stars .

A few minor complains :
1 . Panasonic used to include a simple headset in the past but this one doesn't come with any . In fairness , I don't know if other manufacturers include those now days .
2 . Another con is that the answering machine has a button that turns it ON and OFF so that it's quite easy to inadvertently turn the answering machine OFF . Happen to me already . I think it's just a poor design decision - how often people want to turn their answering machine ON or OFF ? I would guess that most people only would do this once - they either want to use it or not . So dedicating a button on a crowded keypad just for that is quite silly .
3 . Soft-buttons below the screen on a handset are tiny black rubber buttons on black plastic background so I low light I find myself searching for them . It would be better if they would light up just like the keypad buttons do or be of different color .
4 . Female voice announcer's voice is not the most pleasant one but this can be turned off . Despite that I actually keep mine on . But my teen kids complain about that mightily as the number and caller information is being announced on every ring . I think most cell phones do this only once per call which I think is a better approach .
On and on it's a great set of phones that I would recommend to everyone .

112 4 I bought this to replace my vtech phone system and I am very impressed . It has all the basics you would expect , address list , ringer settings , re-dial , speaker phone . . . You can use it with a headset . The best feature with this system is that when you update one phone with a phone number and it is linked with all the phones so you only input information once . For those worried about the answering machine - don't worry , you can turn it off and use your voice mail . There is even a setting so you can enter your voice mail number .
Couple cons . . . The ringer has only a few levels and the buttons just under the display are difficult to hit .

It usually sounds like people on other end of the phone are talking in a soda can . Of course , due to the technology there is no channel button to press in hopes of a clearer signal . I was horribly dissappointed by the sound quality and would not recommend this phone to anyone .
The speaker phone function and the illuminated screen and keys are nice , but the phone menu is confusing . There are probably better phones on the market that have the same features . Do your research !
144 4 I purchased this model to replace an older Panasonic system and I'm so , so frustrated .
Some features are nice - such as automatically having a shared phonebook but many of the other features were NOT thought through .
For one , they changed the menu options ! It used to be so simple to view your call log or to listen to your messages . Now instead there are multiple key presses and it's much less intuitive and not user friendly .
For example , on my old Panasonic cordless phones pressing the down button scrolled through your missed calls . On this new system you have to click Menu - > select - > down . ( two more clicks and you need to look at the phone in order to click Menu and select )
Another example of an inconvenience is that they removed the intercom button and now you have to press Menu , down 3 times and then ' select ' in order to intercom another phone .
Also , flash is no longer conveniently found on the bottom . It's in the Mute button's old spot . So where's the mute button ? There's no mute button , instead it's a dynamic button on the right of screen .
Why mess with a good button layout ?
I like the large print , but the name and phone number rarely fit on the screen together . Usually you have to wait for the number to appear after a couple of seconds .
The construction seems less durable and the screen accumulates face oils instantly .
Also , when you have an unheard message the cordless phones flash a small light from the antennea spot which is annoying at night .
I'd better stop now - before I start to reminisce about the time when the speaker phone button was orange !
171 4 Bought this to replace an old system by a different manufacturer because the handsets on the old system would no longer hold a charge . This one is great , the batteries hold a charge for days and days . Plus if they ever get to the point where they won't hold a charge any longer we can just go get new ones at any store that sells rechargeable size AA batteries . Phone works great , good sound and great range . No interference with other electronic items in the house .
The only down side to the system is that when someone is using the phone , you cannot use another handset to scroll through the system's call list or use any other features , using one handset basically locks out the others . But that is a small downside compared to all the other great features .
173 4 I'm a little behind the times but I love the fact that I don't have to run wire and jacks to every room in which I want a phone . I wish the light stayed on longer on the handsets and that the answering machine kept telling you there was a message until you saved or deleted it .

Phones worked right outa the box but needed to be charged up as stated in manual . I like the caller's name being announced as well as printed on the handset tho I have some minor complaints on this . Some times it is either hard to hear ( age may be a factor ) , pronounces the name wrong or states the last name , first name ( in this order ) as the caller . Sound quality both in ear and speaker phone are good . Phone has other features but I have not read the manual completely so I don't know them well . I tried the other day to re-edit a previously entered phone number in it's memory but couldn't ( could be my fault ) . Another nice feature is you don't have to enter the same phone numbers into each same phone if they are operational . Where ever you enter the phone number , it updates all the other same operational phones automatically .
Also I like the idea of non-proprietary batteries since this makes replacement easier to find and less costly . I think they use AAA size batteries .
Overall , I would not hesitate to recommend this phone .

The speakerphone is completely useable , the sound quality is very good , the range is great ( 200 + ft outside ) , and the size of the phones is perfect . I saw one other review saying the phones were small , but I like the size and lack of antenna stub . I agree that the user's manual is way too focused on the menu system . A map showing the menu and submenus would have been better .
Also , the common contact database is nice as long as you don't have two people with really long lists , then a system that stores diferent contacts on each phone would be a better option .
My phones are new , so the battery life of three hours ( with one bar remaining ) for the longest call so far is great , and longer than I'd like to be on a call . All-in-all , for a single line phone where you don't need individual voice mail boxes , this one is an excellent value .

First the good : They are very easy to set up . The range and voice quality are both excellent . They are weighted well and fit nicely in your hand . Battery life appears to be excellent and they use AA rechargeables that you can purchase easily if they ever need replaced .
Now the bad : There is no audible message alert . I had this feature on my previous phone and miss it . This may not bother some people . Also the phonebook , menu and redial keys are black on a black background . This makes it hard to distinguish them at night .
All-in-all these are excellent phones . I would highly recommend them if the lack of an audible alert is not a problem for you .

146 4 I am extremely pleased with the quality of these phones and the ease of use . My only critical comment is that on my old system , my answering machine would show the number of messages left . If you checked a message and didn't delete it , it would show on the display . This system does not have that digital display , just a flashing button on any new calls . So , if my husband gets home before I do and checks messages , and there is a call for me , he does not delete it , but may forget to tell me that I have a message ( he has been somewhat forgetful lately ) . I am not aware of it , as there is no visual indication . This has resulted in me not returning calls , and I actually missed an appointment , as my husband forgot to tell me that my doctor's office had a cancellation and were holding a time for me to come in . This has been a problem .

I bought this phone set to replace my previous 2.4GHz Panasonic Cordless / Answering Machine set . The old set lasted a solid five years , which is the longest I have ever had one last out here in rural Arizona . It just isn't worth trying to replace a base unit plus a bunch of old batteries when you can buy a whole set for less money .
I like a lot of things about this new set . The display is much easier to read , and I really like the feel of the handsets . The button layout is simplified , and functions well . The battery life appears to be longer . My WiFi performance is a little stronger now that we do not have another system sharing the same frequency range ( although the old systems did not directly interfere with each other ) . I like the fact that the speed dial directory no longer has to be copied to each handset .
I have one primary complaint with the new system , and that is its reception range . I live in a remote area , and it was really great when the Gigarange series first came out for us . We were finally able to keep a phone in the shop and down at the corrals without the need to trench and run phone wires there . The corrals are about 60 feet from the base unit , while the shop is closer to 150 feet . When I set up the new system , I put all the phones in the same spots as the old ones . I cannot reliably obtain a signal in the shop . I guess having to go through the second set of walls is too much for this new system . Panasonic makes a booster unit for similar products sold in England , but it will not work with the North American version because the frequencies are a little different .
The range issue would not be that big of a deal if you were going to use your phones inside the home , or maybe out on the porch or during a walk to the end of the driveway to get the mail . If you are planning to use it in a farm or ranch application , though , you're going to run out of signal strength in your outbuildings .

I've owned this phone for about a month now , and have been very pleased with all aspects of it thus far . I'm using it with a VoIP device , and it works really well . Great range , no interference , and a rich feature set ( though I'm not using all the capabilities of the phone ) are some of the positives of this phone . Voice caller i.d . is pretty slick , and I really like the backlit keypad and large , easy-to-read display . Speakerphone is nice , and the handsets work well with a headset ( purchased one of those with this system too ) . Other than the great reviews , the one aspect I particularly like and a great selling point of this phone is the fact that the handsets don't use proprietary battery packs . . . . . . you know , the ones that eventually go bad and cost you a fortune to replace . These handsets each use 2 standard AAA Ni-mh rechargeable batteries , which are common and readily available , and not nearly as expensive as the proprietary packs . Another reviewer also commented on the packaging . I couldn't believe how small the box was for something that contained a 5 - handset system . . . . . very impressive ! Anyway , couldn't be happier with a product like this for the price I paid . I was looking at a V-Tech system when I came across this one , but am glad I went with this one now that I have it . A very nice , quality product for the money !

Positives : Simple to set up with not too much complication , just follow the menu numbers and away you go . The phones feel nice and have nice large numbers . Reception is good throughout the house and garage with no static and just a bit of hiss . The answering machine records well . Handset-to-handset calls and transfers works well . I bought a ear piece and microphone for one of the handsets and it works well allowing hands free talking .
Negatives : There is no audible beep to indicate awaiting messages on the machine but it does have a flashing light on all the remotes .

I am coming from an older 2.4 Ghz VTech that has started failing . After reading great reviews of Panasonic phones , I tried this one for 2 days , but will have to return .
Call Quality : There is a constant background static on the incoming voice . People could hear me fine , though , without very little static .
Display : The font for the # display is too large , so that a normal 10 digit phone number doesn't even fit on one line . Instead it wraps around to 2 lines . Normally , this would be OK , but only 8 digits fit per line , so 2 digits wrap to the 2nd line . Dialing a 10 digit number displays like this :

Call Log : Accessing the call log is a long 3 step process . You need to hit Menu , Call Log , and then Scroll Down / Up to see the call log . It'd be nice to just hit Up / Down directly from the main screen .
Construction Quality : Feels very light and plasticy . Also , very slim , so hard to hold properly while dialing with one hand .

I've always bought Panasonic cordless phones in the past , and this purchase initially started off the same as any other , taking everything out of the box I thought how well they're made , they look / feel great , etc . . But after the initial charge , I was really let down the first time I had a conversation with them on a regular call ( NOT on speakerphone ) . When you speak into the mouthpiece , these phones pipe your voice directly to the ear-speaker as well as to the other caller , it feels like you're always interrupting someone , except that the voice coming in your ear is your own ! And your voice is considerably louder than the incoming caller , which only increases that feeling . VERY ANNOYING ! I tried every handset , all of them worked exactly that way , the only way to eliminate the problem is to turn down the handset speaker volume two increments from high , but then of course you can't hear the other caller when THEY speak . . . my wife also has the same opinion of these phones , not at all like our previous panasonics . We aren't yelling into the phone or even loud talkers , we're using regular indoor-voice levels here .
I returned the first set , but the second set worked exactly the same . It's a real shame too because the reception was fine , the range was fine , the speakerphone worked GREAT , no complaints whatsoever except for the way they designed the handset speaker to ' repeat ' everything being spoken into the mic . I've used panasonics for years and never had a complaint with their product , I'm really surprised , but I returned the second set as well , I can't stand the way those speakers duplicate your voice on the handset . This time they lost me , I'm going to have to go with another brand it seems .

The phone is relatively large so it feels right when you hold it . The display is also large and easy to see and navigate . The buttons light up when you use the phone which makes it easy to use at night . It has a nice sound and reception throughout my house has been great . For example , I like it that the phone system can keep a list of phone numbers to block .

The Panasonic Dect 6.0 KX-TG6445T is a surprisingly good phone ! For brevity I will mention details that impressed me the most : It was amazingly easy to set up and use . I didn't have to work to coordinate the satellite units as I did in other systems I have owned . Any adjustment to the base unit is immediately transmitted to the satellite units . I bought this phone because its operating frequency does not interfere with that of my wireless router , and since having the phone , I have not had any router problems as I did with my older wireless phone . The rechargeable batteries for each of the units is the type that can be purchased nearly anywhere and I won't have to look for a particular number if and when a replacement is needed . It works well and has a greater range of operation than my older phone . Needless to say , at this time I am most pleased !

All the positives in the other reviews are true - - great sound quality , long battery life ( 3 + hours on a telecon was no problem ) , nice long range ( downstairs kitchen to upstairs bedroom is sparkling clear ) . It's also nice that I don't get interference with this phone while using the handset next to my laptop , which uses a wireless connection . My last cordless handset had a problem this way .
Only a couple small niggles . First , older base units used the more expensive LED numeric display showing the number of messages on the answering machine , with the number flashing to indicate a new message and solidly lit to indicate the number of old ( previously listened-to ) messages . This machine just has a ( small ! ) flashing red arrow in the center of the controller pad to indicate the presence of a new message - - can't tell how many - - and no indication of existing , already-listened to messages . This is mitigated somewhat by the fact that you can get that information from the handsets , but it would be better if the base unit had the numeric display .
Also , I agree with a previous reviewer that it's a bit awkward to wall mount this unit ; the handset must sit upright in a cradle , so wall-mounting simply means hanging the base unit so that it juts out from the wall . It would be nice if the handsets could hang up like old-style wall telephones , hanging from their chin ( so to speak ) rather than sitting on their feet .
Overall though best cordless phone I've had yet .

I've been using these phones for about a month now and the sound quality is great . No static or interference noise . I am also a little hard of hearing and have no problems hearing anyone on these phones .
IMHO they are definitely worth the money .

My wife and I bought this phone to replace ( 2 ) cordless phone systems in our home and it has worked out great . The phone was easy to setup and entering phone numbers in the directory was a snap . I like the common directory feature . Once a number is entered in the phone book it can be used by any of the 5 handsets .
I like the way the phone feels in my hand . It is very comfortable . I like the fact that the handsets use standard AA bateries . No need to go to the shack to replace a special battery pack .
I also like the fact that you can plug a standard headset & microphone into the handsets for those long phone calls . The large display is very easy to read and the buttons are simple and well labeled .
All in all , this is a great product .

I purchased this model to replace an older Panasonic system as I had been very pleased with that system . However , this model is not nearly as good overall .
PROs : Multiple handsets . I'm using the maximum , 6 handsets . This is the primary reason I bought this system
Small foot print for the base station
Good sound quality
CONs : Power docking stations are very light and handsets are very easy to knock over .
Units feel cheap and insubstantial compared to older model
Controls are VERY poorly thought out . Doing basic answering machine tasks requires stepping through a complex menu system . The trade off of a slightly smaller foot print of the base station in exchange for fewer useful controls was a poor one . For example there is no readout telling you how many calls have been received or if a message is erased how many calls are still recorded on the machine . Otherwise this is a good phone but dealing with the answering machine is a major annoyance .
If another brand had a system available with as many handsets and a convenient answering machine I would look seriously at purchasing that and scrapping this model .

This new system fit right in seamlessly and is exactly what we wanted . The message mode works great . We now have phones all throughout the house and can even walk outside and down the street ( I don't know how far , but this isn't something we would normally do ) and continue to talk and hear quite well . We also kept our old ( three units ) Panasonic phones active and now have eight handy phones throughout the house and garage .

Like the answering machine . At first I thought , why bother if you have voicemail , but if you are on the phone and don't want to answer it , some answering machines will not pick up , so with this you can still have your voicemail programmed and it will pick it up .
Like that you can access the messages from any phone .
Love that it talks to you so you don't have to get up if you don't want to talk to the caller .
Intercom , no more yelling to my family to pick up the call , or even to come to dinner .
Bright , large display .
Large memory for numbers .
Phones work anywhere in my home - my last phones - VTech did not work to far from the base , so the one in my master never worked .
Like that in order to use the intercom every phone must be either on the base I decided ( eg . 1 is the base unit and 2 is for my master ) or in the right room . 1 . so that I can page who I need to without paging every phone , and 2 . so that we aren't doing what we usually do and trying to track down a phone when it rings , because inevitably my daughter has all of them in her room : (

I really like this product after a couple months use . Good sound quality - no dropped calls . Excellent range - goes through our brick walls with no problem . Having five handsets while using only 1 phone jack is a real advantage . The battery life is excellent . My only wishes for changes : you have to push a lot of buttons to get rid of the Missed Call message . While the volume level is adequate , I wish it could be stepped up a couple more notches . I'm starting to get a little hard of hearing in my old age . I have no regrets in purchasing this phone system at all .

I have had this phone KX-TG6445 for about 3 months.It does everything very nice.no defects were noted.the first thing to remember is never loose the manual.Due to its many features , panasonic devised feature codes to set up things like alarms , intercom , talking caller id , etc . Feature codes are on 2 + pages on its operating instructions book.Once a feature code is activated the set up is very easy.Again never loose the manual.A very feature packed phone set.Each handset has a number 1 thru 6 . So if you want to use intercom from one handset to another you must know what number is on that particular handset , in my case i have to remember 5 handsets , living room has #3 handset.kind of sucks trying to remember which room has a certain number-wish it could be changed to a word not number.I just thought of putting a sticker on the back each handset showing what number phone where it is.Dect 6.0 has excellant range , great clearity.Batterys can be bought anywhere uses aaa rechargeable.I wish i bought this sooner , I really love its features , love its quality , great sound in its speakerphone on base and handsets.large and easy to read displays.now The bad . . useless wall mounting adaptor , the base is flat not angled so it sticks out in the room.please use on some table.also the handsets charging bases can only be used only on tables due to no adaptors to place on walls or hang on telephone outlets . This phone has a lot of options other phones don't have . For example , if you use a calling card for your long distance calls you can enter the calling card information one time and you don't have to enter it again . You can also set the handsets so that they don't ring during certain hours . There are so many options with this system that Panasonic had to get creative with their programming that is why some people say it is hard to set up . If you do what the users manual says it really is pretty simple .
The only down side I could find is that you can't name the handsets , they are just numbered .
We run 2 business out of our home and this phone does make life easier .

The phone system works great after a fairly easy setup . The screen is easy to read . The menu functions take a little bit to get used to but not a big deal . Reviewing the answering machine messages on any of the handsets is a handy feature . The call blocking works fine , rings just once for a blocked call , but I wish you could select no ring at all . The system also lets fax calls through to my HP OfficeJet without any additional programming .

This product was recommended to me , by a friend who had previously purchased the same set . I had complaints about my 5.8 V-Tech phones having porblems .
First I am no longer having lost calls while talking , and I also can hear the other caller alot better .
I wanted the 5 phone set to cover areas like the basement and garage too .
The sound quality is good and again alot better than the 5.8 V-Tech .
The addition of the number pad for the base phone comes in handy .

I bought this to replace my vtech phone system and I am very impressed . It has all the basics you would expect , address list , ringer settings , re-dial , speaker phone . . . You can use it with a headset . The best feature with this system is that when you update one phone with a phone number and it is linked with all the phones so you only input information once . For those worried about the answering machine - don't worry , you can turn it off and use your voice mail . There is even a setting so you can enter your voice mail number .
Couple cons . . . The ringer has only a few levels and the buttons just under the display are difficult to hit .

I had a set of panasonic phones ( 3 ) before . Had them for years and they served me well . One finally got a flaw and may just have needed a new battery . What really impresses me is the battery life . My old cordless phones needed recharged almost every other day . These phones go weeks ( hours of talk time ) until needing charged . I bought this phone set to replace my previous 2.4GHz Panasonic Cordless / Answering Machine set . The old set lasted a solid five years , which is the longest I have ever had one last out here in rural Arizona . It just isn't worth trying to replace a base unit plus a bunch of old batteries when you can buy a whole set for less money .
I like a lot of things about this new set . The display is much easier to read , and I really like the feel of the handsets . The button layout is simplified , and functions well . The battery life appears to be longer . My WiFi performance is a little stronger now that we do not have another system sharing the same frequency range ( although the old systems did not directly interfere with each other ) . I like the fact that the speed dial directory no longer has to be copied to each handset .
I have one primary complaint with the new system , and that is its reception range . I live in a remote area , and it was really great when the Gigarange series first came out for us . We were finally able to keep a phone in the shop and down at the corrals without the need to trench and run phone wires there . The corrals are about 60 feet from the base unit , while the shop is closer to 150 feet . When I set up the new system , I put all the phones in the same spots as the old ones . I cannot reliably obtain a signal in the shop . I guess having to go through the second set of walls is too much for this new system . Panasonic makes a booster unit for similar products sold in England , but it will not work with the North American version because the frequencies are a little different .
The range issue would not be that big of a deal if you were going to use your phones inside the home , or maybe out on the porch or during a walk to the end of the driveway to get the mail . If you are planning to use it in a farm or ranch application , though , you're going to run out of signal strength in your outbuildings .

I bought this as a father's day present for my senior father who often has trouble hearing people on the phone . The sound quality is horrible . It usually sounds like people on other end of the phone are talking in a soda can . Of course , due to the technology there is no channel button to press in hopes of a clearer signal . I was horribly dissappointed by the sound quality and would not recommend this phone to anyone .
The speaker phone function and the illuminated screen and keys are nice , but the phone menu is confusing . There are probably better phones on the market that have the same features . Do your research !

I purchased this model to replace an older Panasonic system and I'm so , so frustrated .
Some features are nice - such as automatically having a shared phonebook but many of the other features were NOT thought through .
For one , they changed the menu options ! It used to be so simple to view your call log or to listen to your messages . Now instead there are multiple key presses and it's much less intuitive and not user friendly .
For example , on my old Panasonic cordless phones pressing the down button scrolled through your missed calls . On this new system you have to click Menu - > select - > down . ( two more clicks and you need to look at the phone in order to click Menu and select )
Another example of an inconvenience is that they removed the intercom button and now you have to press Menu , down 3 times and then ' select ' in order to intercom another phone .
Also , flash is no longer conveniently found on the bottom . It's in the Mute button's old spot . So where's the mute button ? There's no mute button , instead it's a dynamic button on the right of screen .
Why mess with a good button layout ?
I like the large print , but the name and phone number rarely fit on the screen together . Usually you have to wait for the number to appear after a couple of seconds .
The construction seems less durable and the screen accumulates face oils instantly .
Also , when you have an unheard message the cordless phones flash a small light from the antennea spot which is annoying at night .
I'd better stop now - before I start to reminisce about the time when the speaker phone button was orange !

I am extremely pleased with the quality of these phones and the ease of use . My only critical comment is that on my old system , my answering machine would show the number of messages left . If you checked a message and didn't delete it , it would show on the display . This system does not have that digital display , just a flashing button on any new calls . So , if my husband gets home before I do and checks messages , and there is a call for me , he does not delete it , but may forget to tell me that I have a message ( he has been somewhat forgetful lately ) . I am not aware of it , as there is no visual indication . This has resulted in me not returning calls , and I actually missed an appointment , as my husband forgot to tell me that my doctor's office had a cancellation and were holding a time for me to come in . I had gotten a Vtec system that was horrible , but replaced it with this one . There is a fair amount of background noise present when you are dialing , but it seems to subside while you are on a call . Also , the dial speed is really slow . I need to look at the owners manual because I think there is a way to speed it up . Otherwise very happy with the quality and ease of use .

I bought these to pair with my Comcast VoIP service . They work fantastic . Quality construction ( made in Malaysia , not China ) and easy to use all of the features without having to resort to the instructions . The speaker phone feature works particularly well even from the handsets . Sound quality is great . Battery life is never an issue . The only thing I can criticize is the odd , rounded shape of the back of the handsets which make it impossible to cradle one between your ear and shoulder - reliably the handset will slip and fall to the floor . Speaker phone feature solves that , of course .

Bought this to replace an old system by a different manufacturer because the handsets on the old system would no longer hold a charge . This one is great , the batteries hold a charge for days and days . Plus if they ever get to the point where they won't hold a charge any longer we can just go get new ones at any store that sells rechargeable size AA batteries . Phone works great , good sound and great range . No interference with other electronic items in the house .
The only down side to the system is that when someone is using the phone , you cannot use another handset to scroll through the system's call list or use any other features , using one handset basically locks out the others . But that is a small downside compared to all the other great features .

I'm a little behind the times but I love the fact that I don't have to run wire and jacks to every room in which I want a phone . I wish the light stayed on longer on the handsets and that the answering machine kept telling you there was a message until you saved or deleted it .
It is much better than my old phone system and I have no regrets about the purchase . I only gave it four stars because I have only had the phones for a couple months .

My review is based on about 5.5 weeks of ownership .
Phones worked right outa the box but needed to be charged up as stated in manual . I like the caller's name being announced as well as printed on the handset tho I have some minor complaints on this . Some times it is either hard to hear ( age may be a factor ) , pronounces the name wrong or states the last name , first name ( in this order ) as the caller . Sound quality both in ear and speaker phone are good . Phone has other features but I have not read the manual completely so I don't know them well . I tried the other day to re-edit a previously entered phone number in it's memory but couldn't ( could be my fault ) . Another nice feature is you don't have to enter the same phone numbers into each same phone if they are operational . Where ever you enter the phone number , it updates all the other same operational phones automatically .
Also I like the idea of non-proprietary batteries since this makes replacement easier to find and less costly . I think they use AAA size batteries .
Overall , I would not hesitate to recommend this phone .

It has an intercom feature that allows me to call any handset in the house and it uses a different ring . That way the other person knows that it is someone from within the house calling . I can also set different rings tone songs for specific outside callers . That way my son knows that it is his mom calling even if the id says ' wireless caller ' . He only answers the phone if it is me . This is a wonderful safety feature when you have children home by themselves ( obviously old enough and for limited time . : - ) ) I have only had it for 1 month and I haven't had any dealings with battery life . It is MUCH better than my old system ( same brand - older model ) It is well worth getting all of the phones on the same system .

I wanted to replace my 3 phone Panasonic 5.8 Ghz system with a new one . This system was perfect . It's the newer 6.0 DECT which brings excellent sound quality . And , you get 5 phones plus the main station . The features you get are excellent . When you create a phone book entry on any phone , it appears on all others . The talking caller id is amusing , but , actually useful . The look of the phones , with rubbery feel to the numbers is excellent . I would recommend this product as a whole house cordless system without reservation .

This phone system has lived up to all it's claims and we are very happy about it's performance . Since I have a daughter that hides out in her room , the intercom function has been a pleasant help . She can't claim she didn't hear us holler at her .

Very good price for what you get in this product ! There are just a couple of things I do not like about this phone ! There is no caller id on the console - only on the phone . . . and its a little confusing to review and delete the calls missed . It does not blink when there is a message waiting . . . I was used to that on my other phone ! phone is good quality

Nice cordless system with answering , manual is confusing and I am still not sure if the answering base can be programmed to beep . It does flash when a missed call is recorded .

The neatest feature is that you can set the phonebook up on any phone and it is available to all phones . The only possible drawback is the limited number of telephone numbers that can be saved .

This purchase was a gift for my best friend and his wife.I already own the same identical set . I loved it so much , especially the call blocking feature-that I bought them this set . You know that government call blocking list you sign up for ? the one that gives your information to politcal organizations and charities ? well with this set , you can block EVERYTHING you want . Once a call is blocked , your all set . If they call back , the phone rings once and it ends RIGHT THERE . You can also set up for special ring tones , like when a friend calls etc . Buy it . . . . . . .

I was replacing a Panasonic 4 handset cordless phone with answering machine that I loved except for needing 1 more handset and the fact that the buttons became very worn very fast . This phone appears to have better buttons and was just what I wanted . However , they made the intercom feature more complicated to use .

We are very pleased with these phones . Sound quality is good and the speaker system works well . Ease of use is excellent . Our son is in a military academy and when he calls it is important that we both be able to talk to him at the same time . Our last system was a Motorola and it was not in the same league with this Panasonic . It was problematic from the first . We highly recommend purchasing the Panasonic .

I've had a number of different brands of cordless phones over the years . About 12 years ago I purchased my first Panasonic . I have had NO problems with it ! So , I just built a new home and I didn't want to run all over the house to answer 1 of the 2 handsets ( they also didn't match the colors in the new house ) LOL . So , I ordered a new panasonic Dect 6 phone with ( 5 ) hand sets . They really work GREAT no problems so far . We love NOT having to run all over to find a hand set . We almost settled for the one with ( 4 ) handsets ; but I'm glad we didn't . . . OH , got to go ! My cool new phones just rang !

I like this multi-handset phone system as I am a disabled vet and these phones are placeable in many rooms in my large two-story home . My only regret is that one has to go through several steps to reach someone on the intercom , which my old Panasonic system didn't require . As well if you dial a particular intercom and the person is in a room with a different intercom number , they cannot just answer it . Specifically , one has to dial the exact intercom number for each phone , instead of the connection being universal . Otherwise , this set is a smart buy with an attractive look , good sound quality , and a minimum of set-up . I would definitely recommend this set for purchase .

Great phones . . . I purchased after reading reviews . Sets up very easily , simple instructions . The intercom system rocks . Enter a contact in any handset and that contact is downloaded automatically to all the other handsets . Only negative comment is that the handsets are light and slippery . . . by that I mean ; the all plastic body would be better if it had some sort of non-slip coating on it . Not bad if thats my only complaint ! Came in about 7 days from Amazon.com .

I did a lot of research before puchasing these phones and after using them for the last month realize what a great decision we made . They are wonderful phones . Convenient to have so many handsets . They are all numbered so it's easy to transfer calls . Different ring tones is helpful to know who's calling . Great battery life and excellent sound quality . Very , Very pleased with this purchase

Sound volume in normal mode . I find the max setting lower than I would like though my wife says it is fine . I do have a light hearing loss . In speakerphone mode the volume is very strong .

What a wonderful phone . Easy to program ( and as a male I don't do well with book reading ) . The battery really lasts a long time . I have not been able to find any problems with this phone . To echo what most other people have written , this is a well made , good quality phone system . The speakerphone is completely useable , the sound quality is very good , the range is great ( 200 + ft outside ) , and the size of the phones is perfect . I saw one other review saying the phones were small , but I like the size and lack of antenna stub . I agree that the user's manual is way too focused on the menu system . A map showing the menu and submenus would have been better .
Also , the common contact database is nice as long as you don't have two people with really long lists , then a system that stores diferent contacts on each phone would be a better option .
My phones are new , so the battery life of three hours ( with one bar remaining ) for the longest call so far is great , and longer than I'd like to be on a call . All-in-all , for a single line phone where you don't need individual voice mail boxes , this one is an excellent value .

I actually like these phones very much with two exceptions .
First the good : They are very easy to set up . The range and voice quality are both excellent . They are weighted well and fit nicely in your hand . Battery life appears to be excellent and they use AA rechargeables that you can purchase easily if they ever need replaced .
Now the bad : There is no audible message alert . I had this feature on my previous phone and miss it . This may not bother some people . Also the phonebook , menu and redial keys are black on a black background . This makes it hard to distinguish them at night .
All-in-all these are excellent phones . I would highly recommend them if the lack of an audible alert is not a problem for you .

A good product at a great price through Amazon . The handsets work as advertised - great sound and easy to setup and use . The only issue I have is that the answering machine does not have a display to show you the number of messages , both old and new , saved on the device . My old Radio Shack system had such a feature and I do miss it . Other than that , I highly recommend the Panasonic cordless system .

Very good sound quality . The only drawback is the system is not conviently adaptable to a wall phone . It comes with a bracket so it can be hung on the wall , but it ends up sticking out about 12 .

I bought this system because our pair of 2.4GHz cordless phones reeked havoc with our wireless network and we finally had enough of it . I researched the available options extensively before choosing this system . This is indeed a system , not just a phone .
The setup was incredibly easy . The phones have to be charged for seven hours before use . The base contacts all the phones and detects its connection to the external phone line automatically . The base is the only location that needs a phone line connection - awesome ! All I had to do was insert the batteries and plug in the satellite extensions to electrical power . I changed the ringer on a few of them just to feel like I contributed to the effort . The handsets can be anywhere with a power outlet since they don't need individual phone line connections , and with five we are never far from a phone . Reception around our older house is outstanding . In fact , we get great reception all around our habitable outside areas .
The handsets are about the size of older cell phones and all have speaker phone functionality , which provide excellent sound . They also work great with common headsets . The LCD displays use large characters which I can read without my glasses , and always displays the battery and connection status as well as the handset number ( 1 - 5 ) . It also displays charging when doing that , as well providing a steadily lit LED . When you have a voice mail , the LED flashes . If you have caller ID , the handset will try to pronounce the caller's name in addition to displaying that information . That way , you don't necessarily have to go to the phone to see who's calling . It actually works fairly well , but can also provide serious amusement .
The menu system is simple and easy to use . I programmed our phone company voicemail so that we can easily get our vm through the handset menus . I had to say that because it was all the programming that was necessary . The handsets use rechargeable , replaceable AAA batteries . That's an outstanding feature that will make life easier . They'd last longer with AA batteries , though . Small ding there for battery life , which runs around 5 hours of use .
The base has a built-in message recorder , but we don't use it . I prefer the one with our phone company . If the phone line goes dead , the central company vm will still take messages but the base will be cut off . The base also has a speaker , so it can be used to answer the phone if your handset batteries die .
The base provides the brains for the system . It maintains the missed-call history and the dialing directory . That means every handset is automatically synchronized , like a thin-client system . If someone is using a handset , an in use notice appears on all the others . You can use the system to conference simply by connecting to the call with the handsets . Conference appears in the display of each , so there's no secret eves dropping . Every handset also displays when you have a missed call or voice message . You have full access to the system from every handset .
Which gets to the interphone feature , our household favorite . You can call any handset from any other in the house . You dial them by number , but the called handset must answer before the calling handset can go to speakerphone . Incoming phone calls still ring and present the caller's number . The interphone saves a lot of running up and down stairs to answer questions , etc .
The bad news is that if any handset is in use , no other handset can check the missed calls , voice messages , or memorized numbers . There's only one base and it only serves one customer at a time . That can be occasionally irritating if someone calls when the line is already in use , and someone else in the house cannot check who it was .
The other bad news is that the handsets are pretty fragile . We accidentally dropped one about three feet and it stopped working . I've dropped cell phones and PDAs further than that and they worked fine . Be warned and be careful . This is why I dinged the construction quality and dropped the rating by one star overall .
Overall , we're thrilled with this phone system . It's the best we've ever used , and has enhanced our daily home operations . Panasonic really thought this system through well . Just don't drop a handset .

The model includes cordless handsets , answering machine , and caller ID , as well as voice prompts of incoming caller ID calls . As a plus , the handsets use AAA Ni-MH batteries so easily purchased when they need replacing . My old Motorola used the typical specialized phone Ni-Cd batteries ( with that funny connector ) , that lasted less than a year and a high cost to replace .
Highly recommend this model . The KX-TG 643x and 644x series are all the same except for the number of handsets that come in the package and whether the base station has its own dial capability . This model allows a max of 6 handsets ( the 6445 cmes with 5 handsets-so you can purchase one more if needed KX-TGA 641T ) .
The caller ID list and address book is centralized , so updating updates the file on the base set . My old Motorola had an address book in each handset plus a shared in the base unit . The voice mail box default announcement is a man's voice-would prefer a woman's voice , but you can also record your own announcement
Lastly , the handsets are small ( 6inch by 1.5 in wide ) . Not a problem for me but might surprise others . Panasonic sells many DECT 6.0 cordless phones , so do your search carefully . I bought this model because the 64xx model series is new in 2009 , plus it has a base station that you can also dial from giving you a 7th telephone set if needed .

003 4 After a number of years , it was time to upgrade our phone system . I've always had Uniden's , but couldn't find a decent style phone in that brand , so selected the Panasonic . Seems like phones are like cars . . They have to change the design every year .

a . The phone has a great feel in the hand . Small , light , nice rubberized backlit buttons . ( I hate the plastic buttons of some phones )
b . Sound quality is great . ( I've not had any issues . )
c . Decent range . Live on a 1 / 3 acre and had reception in my entire property plus most of my immediate neighbors .
d . Price is not bad . Phone + 5 handsets for $129 at Fry's . ( but add on's are WAY too expensive )
e . Bright and big LED Screen ( LOVE this . . My eyes are getting old , not my brain grin > )
f . Talking Caller ID . ( don't have to run to the phone to see who is calling )
g . Integrated VoiceMail indicator so you can see if you've got messages . ( Nice ! ! ! , I can get rid of that cheap flashing red light thingy that doesn't work very well . )
Con's .
a . WHY do they all have to have / be answering machines ? ? ? It's such a waste with VoiceMail ! ! It would be great to have a choice between a phone with an answering machine , or one without .
b . You can't name your phones . This was really shocking to me . With the Uniden , we named all the phones . . Office , Kitchen , Master BR , etc . With the TG6445 all you get is 1,2,3,4,5 . . . So when you want to page or conference you have to stop and think . . Now which phone is in the Master BR ? ? ? ( Again , REALLY stupid )
c . Wall Mount is terrible ! ! ! ! Why can't you have a flush wall mount versus a horizontal one ? ? It sticks out WAY too far . . So I've stuck mine to the wall with double sided table and I rotate one of my satellites for charging the base unit . .
d . The selection of ring tone's is REALLY weak . . only 8 , and only 1 or 2 are worth while . .
e . Reception meter is pretty worthless . I walked 1 full block and was impressed by the full strength on the meter . Until I turned it on and got extremely poor reception .
f . Phone needs a built in battery in-case the power goes out . . All your phones immediately become useless including the base unit . My new Comcast phone service has a built in battery , so I won't lose phone service , but I'll lose the phone . ( so we have to have a non powered backup phone just in case ) . It would be a great feature for Panasonic to add . The base unit can't draw that much power , so the battery could be small enough not to make it overly bulky .
All in all , not a bad phone , it's the other features or lack of features that are disappointing .

However , after having had success with another set of phones that used DECT6.0 technology , I decided to try these . They've been perfect - - there hasn't been a single instance on any call where the signal dropped out .
Also , Panasonic's talking caller ID is great . When a call comes in , all the phones announce who the caller is , so if the call is from someone you don't want to talk to ( e.g . , a solicitor ) , you don't even have to get out of your chair to know not to answer it . How's that for lazy ?

062 4 Just recently upgraded from an older Panasonic 5.8GHz phone set when the need for a few more handsets came about and my son broke the antenna off his handset . These phone's sound quality is nice and the new 1.9GHz doesn't interfere with any of my other wireless devices . The interface is a little clunky in that there are way too many soft key presses to navigate . On our old phones , there was a dedicated key for the intercom function ( which I use a lot to talk with my basement-dwelling 14 y / o son ) . On the new version , you have to navigate through the interface 4 clicks or so - not bad , just an inconvenience . I understand the reasoning behind the interface changes . . . it's cheaper to make a function software based as opposed to a dedicated hardware button , but it's an inconvenience none-the-less .
The battery life on the older version was outstanding , idle-time off the charger and talk-time . We'll see how these new phones hold up - I've only had them for about a week as of this review .
The new Talking CallerID is pretty neat and it does a decent job of text-to-speech on my phonebook entries . Speaking of the phonebook . . . there is now a master phonebook as opposed to each handset having it's own phonebook on the previous phones . Not sure if I like it or not . . . like if I were put Mom & Dad as an entry , meaning MY parents , when they call , my son would also see Mom & Dad on his handset . On the older phones , I could simply change his phonebook to something like Grandma & Grandpa . Definitely not a big deal at all , but just something different .
All in all , these are a nice upgrade and the price is fantastic for 5 handsets and an Answering Machine base .
063 4 I ordered this phone a month ago , the base unit plus 3 phones . We had a previous model Panasonic cordless with the voice ID and enjoyed them but eventually they broke so I replaced them with this model . Unfortunately , we got a bad batch . None of the phones can hold a charge although we've been keeping them in the cradle . I even purchased a new batch of rechargeable batteries and put them in the phones to no avail . So I'm out $100 and going to buy new phones today : (

I bought this system because our pair of 2.4GHz cordless phones reeked havoc with our wireless network and we finally had enough of it . I researched the available options extensively before choosing this system . This is indeed a system , not just a phone .
The setup was incredibly easy . The phones have to be charged for seven hours before use . The base contacts all the phones and detects its connection to the external phone line automatically . The base is the only location that needs a phone line connection - awesome ! All I had to do was insert the batteries and plug in the satellite extensions to electrical power . I changed the ringer on a few of them just to feel like I contributed to the effort . The handsets can be anywhere with a power outlet since they don't need individual phone line connections , and with five we are never far from a phone . Reception around our older house is outstanding . In fact , we get great reception all around our habitable outside areas .
The handsets are about the size of older cell phones and all have speaker phone functionality , which provide excellent sound . They also work great with common headsets . The LCD displays use large characters which I can read without my glasses , and always displays the battery and connection status as well as the handset number ( 1 - 5 ) . It also displays charging when doing that , as well providing a steadily lit LED . When you have a voice mail , the LED flashes . If you have caller ID , the handset will try to pronounce the caller's name in addition to displaying that information . That way , you don't necessarily have to go to the phone to see who's calling . It actually works fairly well , but can also provide serious amusement .
The menu system is simple and easy to use . I programmed our phone company voicemail so that we can easily get our vm through the handset menus . I had to say that because it was all the programming that was necessary . The handsets use rechargeable , replaceable AAA batteries . That's an outstanding feature that will make life easier . They'd last longer with AA batteries , though . Small ding there for battery life , which runs around 5 hours of use .
The base has a built-in message recorder , but we don't use it . I prefer the one with our phone company . If the phone line goes dead , the central company vm will still take messages but the base will be cut off . The base also has a speaker , so it can be used to answer the phone if your handset batteries die .
The base provides the brains for the system . It maintains the missed-call history and the dialing directory . That means every handset is automatically synchronized , like a thin-client system . If someone is using a handset , an in use notice appears on all the others . You can use the system to conference simply by connecting to the call with the handsets . Conference appears in the display of each , so there's no secret eves dropping . Every handset also displays when you have a missed call or voice message . You have full access to the system from every handset .
Which gets to the interphone feature , our household favorite . You can call any handset from any other in the house . You dial them by number , but the called handset must answer before the calling handset can go to speakerphone . Incoming phone calls still ring and present the caller's number . The interphone saves a lot of running up and down stairs to answer questions , etc .
The bad news is that if any handset is in use , no other handset can check the missed calls , voice messages , or memorized numbers . There's only one base and it only serves one customer at a time . That can be occasionally irritating if someone calls when the line is already in use , and someone else in the house cannot check who it was .
The other bad news is that the handsets are pretty fragile . We accidentally dropped one about three feet and it stopped working . I've dropped cell phones and PDAs further than that and they worked fine . Be warned and be careful . This is why I dinged the construction quality and dropped the rating by one star overall .
Overall , we're thrilled with this phone system . It's the best we've ever used , and has enhanced our daily home operations . Panasonic really thought this system through well . Just don't drop a handset .

068 4 I have had this system for about 2 weeks now . . . . to date , I cannot find one
thing to put in the cons column . Upgraded from a previous Panasonic system that
became unusable after my Great Dane puppy apparently tried to reach out
and touch some one but , in the process , he ate the base station .
Sound quality is great , being able to assign a distinctive ring
to selected numbers is a nice feature , as is the talking caller ID , I didn't
even know that this existed .
Battery life seems to be better then the model that preceded this one .
I also really appreciate Panasonic sticking to the AAA rechargeable batteries
as opposed to the usual modules that most other phone manufacturers use .
The shared phone book which lets you make all modifications to one phone and
have it take effect on all is another plus . The previous system would require
you to use the copy all function but , it would not delete numbers that you wanted to
erase , it would only add new ones .
The display is fantastic , nothing like having 5 additional digital clocks
around that are easy to see .
Very user friendly menus , good quality sound , great reception in all floors
of my house and around the perimeter of my property , what more could one ask for ?
I have always had great luck with Panasonic phones and I expect nothing to change
with this system , well , as long as my puppy doesn't acquire a taste for this base
station also .
If I had any complaints at all , it would only be that Amazon's price has dropped
just a bit since I made my purchase but . . . just the way things work sometimes I guess .
As always , Amazon's shipping was lightning fast .

Bought this at COSTCO about 2 months ago . It has some nice features , especially the talking caller ID . But even if it had every feature known to man , I would NOT buy this phone . After about 2 months of use , all the entries made in PHONEBOOK will erase unexpectedly . It is a pain to re-enter all your favorite numbers & names . Worse - they all erase again after you get about 15 to 20 of them . Instruction sheet says you should be able to enter 50 names . I'm taking it back & getting another brand , even if it has no talking ID .

I have had panasonic phones for quite some time , and the last one I purchased , didnt last as long as they usually do . . . years that is . I purchased this one and must say that it is the best one I have had . Pleasant to look at , small and compact , with a bevy of features that I like . Very easy to set up with a very easily understood manual . Battery life is very good and you get alot of standby time , and talk time with this one , my previous one from panasonic and a different model didnt give you alot of talk time . I would highly recommend this to anyone , and the range , speaker phone , and all the features are fantastic . The volume and talking caller ID are loud enough to hear and are very understandable . If you need a new phone , buy this one you wont regret it , and believe me the negatives stated on here must be from buyers with more problems than the phone . . . . .

080 4 I purchased this product at my most compulsive store - COSTCO . My household went thru many different cordless phone systems . We had Uniden , V-Tech , GE , even Plantronics . The Panasonic is the best by far . The only thing I dislike about these phones is the construction of the housing , it doesn't have the solid look and feel , I'm afraid if it gets dropped to the floor it will break . We go thru like every year to purchase a new set .
Things I considered when purchasing this :
a ) multiple units and that you can ad more as you need .
b ) talking caller ID , this is great , although the pronouncement is horrible .
c ) Caller ID that features a CALL BLOCK ! I hate those telemarketers etc .
d ) phone-book , that if you save it on one phone it saves on all the handsets .
The features I dislike :
a ) no phone locate , imagine your looking for a missing handset , you need to use the intercom feature .
b ) that if someone is on the phone , the phonebook and caller id log is not accessable on the other handsets .
OVERALL , Panasonic is great and the talk quality and the range is SUPER .

ability to block unwanted phone calls . You can either block using their incoming phone number of if it's one of
those sneaky telemarketers who block their caller ID , you are able to block those as well . The other end will
get a busy number . Your phone will ring once then show the caller being blocked . About the only con on the
caller block is if you turn the caller block on when a Private Caller comes in , it also blocks Out Of Area
calls and Long Distance callers . So it is possible you may have wanted calls on one of those three blocks . The
system lumps those calls without a number together and will block them all if turned on . Otherwise , you have the
ability to block up to 30 numbers . Not bad . Take that Franklin Mint ! ! Stick it up your nose Fraternal Order of
Police that won't take no for an answer ! What ever you do , don't toss the instruction book . All those functions
and a zillion other features use a three digit code to turn on or off or adjust . Overall , a great product that
seems to have a long battery life and you can roam all over the house and outside without breaking a call .

We have a large home , my husband and I also work from home . . . a multi-line , connected phone is necessary .
In the past , we used AT & T . . . the sound quality stunk after a couple of years and the main , desk top unit had issues with crackling and wires being loose . . . so we had to shop for another as we shyed away from AT & T .
So , we got this unit and one more handset .
We bought for the connectability of main unit to other handsets . . . but we MISS certain features and hope someday they're updated :
- No 1 - button intercom . On this unit , you must press the menu button and toggle 3 times to the intercom .
- No personalizing handset names . . . AT & T's had it that you could ' name ' each handset : G office , S office , garage , etc . This one only has preset numbers . The base is ' 0 ' , the base handselt ' 1 ' , and then the others follow . It's ' okay ' but not preferred .
- The size of each handset is a little too small . They are hard to keep between the ear and shoulder ( I know many folks don't do this anymore and this DOES have a speaker - - - but I like to gab when cooking , and no way can you use a speaker when a blender's going ) .
- Also , the speaker , at top volume is low ; of clear quality , but the volume isn't very loud . . . especially to the callee . I called my niece and was talking from about 2 ' away and eventually I just picked up the phone and used the non-speaker phone / normal handset .
- System comes with voice mail . . . to us a waste . . . as most folks use their land line's ( LOL : Most folks don't even use land line anymore eh ? )
- Dislike that each handset seems to record a ' missed call ' even though you DID pick it up on from another handset . SO , you have to delete the list from each handset . Dumb . It wouldn't be so dumb if you could redial a call from the handset that was made from another handset . . . but I suppose we have high expectations !

+ the huge screen , easy to read .
+ the voice reporting of who is calling .
+ that you can program the voice mail button to auto dial your voice mail phone number .
We'll try to update after a while for longevity . We hope the life of the batteries and their recharge last better . . . AT & T's batteries seemed whimpy and the recharge value after a couple years only supported an hour call even after being charged on the handset .
The phones seem ' cheap ' . . . so light weight ( which is nice ) but so light they feel like they have nothing to them .

101 4 I switched from Uniden to Panasonic for their talking caller ID . After only 1.5 months of limited use , the three top feature buttons have seized working on all the handsets . The caller ID also does not work yet the talking caller ID does . I am returning this product to Target , ( luckily I kept receipts and box ) . There are other draw backs with this Panasonic ; The voice quality is poor . You can not switch off the speaker phone once you turn it on . The volume control is not easily accessible .
It is totally unacceptable to have a product break down in such a short time . I will return to Uniden and purchase the Dect 2185 - 3 . I reconnected my old Uniden 5.8 ghz and it still works ! After sitting there all this time it only needed to be recharged !

We have used the new phones for about 3 weeks so far and all is well . I read all the reviews before I bought the phone system and thought I knew what I was getting . The only complaint is the ear volume is not loud enough . I assumed the people that mentioned this in their review were hard hearing , but they were probably normal . I have found that one of the phones has better volume than the others and I use it as the main phone . The large display is much better than our old Uniden phones and the talking ID is very handy for me . I agree with the other reviewers that I wish it had more ring tones than it does . Our old Uniden has 5 times as many sounds and songs that can be applied to different callers . I listen for the tunes when family members call rather than wait for the talking ID . All in all it is a good buy . I couldn't find one with more features .
121 4 I won't spend a lot of time rehashing others reviews . There is more than enough information out there , most of it praising these excellent phones . I agree that there are far more pros than cons . However , even though I am giving this product 4 stars , there is 1 glaring complaint that I have to make . The rechargeable batteries on these phones stink ! I owned the original Panasonic DECT with 3 handsets for about 2 years and the problem was that the chargers no longer recognized the phones , one by one they stopped charging . I cleaned the contacts with 91% alcohol , I removed and replaced the batteries a thousand times to reset the contacts . For a while , those tricks worked but eventually the phones just stopped charging and I left them on the charger permanently just to get 5 - 10 minutes of conversation out of them . 3 months ago , my Dad gave me a new Panasonic model with 4 handsets ( newinbox ) that he decided he was not going to use . I love these phones too ( my 5 yr old twins love the talking caller ID ) . Guess what , the phones are already needing to be charged more frequently although I have seen no sign of the old problem where the charger refuses to recognize the fact that the phone is sitting in the cradle . Time will tell . Just a heads up and curious if anyone else encountered a similar problem .

This phone has changed my life . After suffering from a motley collection of various poor-working phones for many years , I finally decided to up for a real phone system . My home is two-story , and I get business calls on my regular phone line .
First off , the phone system is truly an integrated system , you can do all functions with the phone and answering machine from any satellite phone .
I have owned this phone system for several months .
1 . The address book is shared by all phones , any number you enter on any phone's address book will display on all phones ' address books .
2 . You say you wish your home had an intercom ? This phone system is ALSO an intercom system - - - - PLUS you can even put a called on hold and then intercom another person to pick up the call on the phone in his / her room .
3 . These phones use plain ordinary NIMH rechargeable batteries , and so far the battery life has been excellent for me . I did a conference call for 1.5 hours and it did not even go down one bar on the battery life indicator . ( and yes , the batteries ARE in the box )
4 . It has speakerphone and headset jack , and uses plain ordinary telephone headsets . There is also a volume control on each phone , which also works for the speakerphone and headset volumes .
5 . There is talking caller ID , and if the caller's number is programmed into the address book , it will speak the name you put in the address book . So if you entered My Boss with the boss's number in the address book , it would speak My Boss when he / she called . Some of the names sound funny on the talking ID , but you get used to it .
6 . You can turn off the ringer for specified periods of time on each individual phone . So if you have a phone in the baby's room , for instance , you could set the phone in baby's room to not ring at night .
7 . You have a choice of ring tones plus you can even individualize a ring tone for any person you enter in the address book .
8 . You can switch between regular phone and speakerphone on any call , back and forth as much as you need . ( the speakerphone volume has been fine for me , though some have complained it's too hard to hear )
9 . The display is LARGE and it's backlit . It tells you the date and time . I really like the big display .

11 . You don't need a lot of expertise to set up this phone , it's easy to learn the system .

I noticed that my internet connection dropped less after I changed to this system , and I think my old phones were interfering with the internet router .
13 . You only need one phone jack for this entire system , the satellite phones only need the AC charger plugged into the wall . My home is two-story and I have no problems with reception in any room , all phones work equally well . This includes my office , which is in the basement in the opposite end of my home from the base unit upstairs .
14 . One thing to note : you do not want to have a fluorescent light near the base unit , which meant I had to give up my CFL bulb in my lamp , but it was a small price to pay for this system .
Would I buy this phone system again ? You betcha ! I liked it so well I bought one more handset , because the system comes with 5 but will accommodate up to 6 . The extra handset was a snap to set up .

I wanted a single phone system where all handsets matched throughout the home , and if I carried one away from the base , I could easily toss it into one of the other bases for charging . Centralized base units with expandable handsets are my only option . However , six phones for my size home is not enough . We need 11 or 12 to be able to catch calls in differing rooms within four rings before they jump to voicemail .
I bought TWO complete KX-TG 6445T systems with five handsets , each . I also purchased two additional handsets for each system . With my 12 handsets and two bases , I was skeptical whether or not they might conflict on the same line . I plugged in both bases on different floors of the home , charged up the handsets . . . and viola ! It works perfectly . All 12 handsets connected with no fussing , and each catch incoming calls .
The phone itself has a good speakerphone ( which is important for those conference calls you only need to half listen to on mute , while doing something else around the home ) . It is easily as loud as my elder Motrola . The handset is a good size , despite what you read here - don't sweat it . Caller ID announcing is awesome , as is the menu on the phone itself ( large display , easy to read and understand ) .
Drawbacks to two base units : paging only goes to the base unit you phone mates to . Therefore , if I mix some upstairs handsets with some downstairs handsets , I can page my target base with a little phone switching . The centralized phone book needs replication in both units . Not a huge deal , I rarely find new friends , so my numbers are pretty stable .
The phone works everywhere , even in my double-insulated movie room . Clear as a bell . It even works around the house , and even further down the road at my mailbox .
A definite recommended system if you need this many handsets . Best wishes .

the phones are a lil bigger than I had invisioned , but not too big to complain ; also I wish the Caller ID was a bit easier to access and wish the answering machine alerted you of a new message . But like I said , still a great phone at a great price .

Plugged them in , waited 7 hours for full battery charge , and started using them . Instruction manual reasonably straightforward . Really nice that all of the phones synchronize , so that any name one adds to one phone shows up on all of the others.Love the fact that any one phone can be set to no-ring between preset hours . . . a blessing for phones in bedrooms . Announcement feature for caller ID is helpful , as is the fact that all phones display the same info everywhere . Wish there was a way to provide a sound when there is a call waiting . . . that's our only complaint . Othwerwise , they're great !

I bought the five phone set for my mother for Christmas and they have already paid for themselves . My mother no longer has to run up and down the stairs to answer the phone , nor does she have to worry about locating a misplace handset . The sound quality is superb and I am VERY pleased with the ability to intercom between the handsets and / or base , the talking caller ID , and I am sure I will find great satisfaction in using the incorporated caller block for those uninvited sales pitches .
I highly recommend these phones to anyone who is looking for a high quality phone system .
I ordered an additional handset to get the maximum 6 handsets for this setup . I do wish , however , that the additional handsets where a little more affordably priced . I chose to buy a refurbished handset due to the cost of the new ones .
A huge plus for these phones is that they use standard AAA sized rechargeable batteries ( included ) , so if you ever need to replace the batteries there is no need to buy an expensive , or discontinued , battery pack . You simply just go to the local market and buy some AAA , NI-MH batteries for a few bucks and you're set .
You simply can't go wrong buying these phones .

We have had this system for a week now , and so far , we are very pleased . It is very easy to use , the instructions for programming it are easy to understand . I really like the call blocking feature , also the ability to retrieve messages , etc . from any of the handsets . I haven't yet decided about the talking caller ID feature ( it sometimes pronounces words in a strange way ) , but if I eventually decide I don't like that feature , it is easy to disable it . It is easy to retrieve stored frequently called numbers ( and quite easy to store them - compared to some other phones I've had ) . It is sometimes hard to hear a person to whom you are speaking without using the speakerphone , but that could just be my old grey aging ears . All in all , a very easy to use system packed with great features . I highly recommend it .

1st off it takes at least 2 - 3 rings to begin speaking and by that time you can just look at the regular caller ID . 2nd , if the name of the person calling isn't Smith that little microchip just can't seem to get it event close to the right pronuncation .
Overall through its a good phone , with clear sound quality .

We bought this phone because we have moved into our detached garage during a major remodel of our home . We left the base plugged in in our house and have the extensions inside the garage , as well as inside our RV that is in the garage . The garage is about 50 + feet from the house , but we have a good signal and pretty good sound quality most of the time . It does sound a bit tinny inside the RV sometimes . The features are great and easy to use , including the phone book ( although I wish it held more numbers ) , easy access to voicemail , and the speakerphone is very clear . We haven't really had to test the battery life because the units are in their chargers the majority of the time . I would have made the three small selection buttons above the number keys white instead of black ; they are small and difficult to see in low light . We have not used the answering machine feature yet because it is in the house , and we do have voicemail through our phone service provider . It is easy to access both through the handset . The Caller ID feature shows on all the handsets when we have missed a call and when there is a voicemail . The audio announcements of who is calling can be a bit comical due to pronunciation errors , but it does prevent having to go visually check the Caller ID for all those nuisance calls ( which we still seem to get in spite of the Do Not Call list ) . I have not used the number blocking feature yet but plan to in the future . The phones work so well I wish I had replaced our old phones with this system a long time ago . As always in my experience with Amazon , ordering and shipping were smooth and fast .

RECOMMENDATION
Some of these units come with 3 handsets or 4 handsets . If you have a two or three story house and a family I highly recommend you buy the 5 handset system or the 6th handset . My previous panasonic had 3 handsets and there was always someone screaming around the house , has anyone seen the phone ! ? very annoying . With this 5 phone system , that scratching on the nails yelling has stopped : with 5 phones chances are there's one in plain sight of the person looking for a phone .
PROS
- NO ANTENNA . . . this phone is compact and has no protruding antenna which makes it very nice
- TALKING CALLER ID . . . this phone speaks the name of the callerID whenever a call comes in which can be very nice . It's not perfect but you learn to recognize its different attempts at words to know when your parents , inlaws , kids , friends are calling .
- WIRELESS NETWORK COMPATIBILITY . . . this phone works on 1.9MHz and does not interfere with my wireless 802.11n / g network so that's good .
- REGULAR RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES . . . this is my favoritate feature . The phone comes with and uses AAA rechargeable batteries . If your batteries go out , you don't have to hunt high and low for speciality battery packs . Just pick up a pair of rechargeable AAA batteries and slap them in - viola ! Fresh phone with fresh batterly life . The regular rechargeable batteries are enough to buy this phone .
- SILENT MODE . . . I keep a phone by my bed but always pray that it doesn't ring at 3am because I will get startled enough to bolt out of my bed and swing from my cieling fan . This phone solves that problem . You can set it to silent mode at night . you set the time for it to go to silent mode and the time for it to come out of silent mode . I keep a regular phone in my kitchen and if someone calls , the ringing is loud enough to wake me up in my bedroom but not so much that I get yanked out of sleep . Silent mode is alone worth it to buy this phone .
- BIG BRIGHT DISPLAY . . . the display on this phone is big , nice and bright . It displays time and date , missed calls , the unit number , the battery charge , and whether it's fully charged or charging . The display is not color but that doesn't matter .
- LIGHTED DISPLAY AND BUTTONS . . . the display and buttons light up when you hit a key . This makes the phone highly useful at night .
- YOU ONLY NEED ONE PHONE PORT . . . this phone plugs into one line jack and from there you get 5 phones ( 6 if you buy the expansion set ) .
- SPEAKERPHONE . . . each handset is a speakerphone and the base unit is also a speakerphone complete with keypad ( it's like having 5 phones and 1 base speakerphone )
- INTERCOM . . . the intercom feature is nice . Each phone has a number and you can page any phone from any other phone . Also if you should happen to lose a phone in the house , you can use the intercom feature as a location device . . . . . page each phone individually until you've found them all .
- LIGHT . . . these phones are very light and compact . I really like that .
CONS
- SMEARING THE SCREEN . . . the screen is big and while you use the phone the screen rests on your cheeck so after you're finished using the phone , the display generally gets smeared a bit from anything that's on your cheek , moisture etc . You know the same moisture marks that you leave when you put your nose or hand against a window glass . So I have to wipe the phone . On the bright side , you're forced to wipe your phone after you use it .
- CALLER ID NAVIGATION . . . with my old panasonic I could just hit the up or down button to immediately see any missed calls . Now I have to hit the calls button and then toggle the up or down button to see missed . calls . It's one extra step and takes a bit of getting used to . Very minor but thought I'd mention .
- BASE CENTRIC . . . if any one phone is in use , you can't add phone numbers or check voicemail or do anything else with any of the other phones in the house . The only thing you can do with the other phone units is pick up and join the ongoing call .
Overall this is the best phone system I have ever purchased .
019 4 Where do I begin , I love that these handsets use two replaceable AAA size NiMH batteries per handset . Panasonic includes ten 800mAH Panasonics with mine ( same as the
Sanyo Eneloop AAA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries ( 4 Pack )
) ! No more being charged $12 - $25 for custom battery packs ! I've spent a small fortune on NiCAD battery packs for my two old ( still working ) Panasonic 900MHz digital cordless phones . And the batteries seem to last a bit over a week while off their charger ( standby ) .
Speaking of which , my Panasonic 900MHz digital cordless phones have flip covers over the keypad with minimal buttons . The cover turned the phone on and off . Now , this Panasonic DECT phone uses the Talk button for turning the phone on and I can put the phone back into the base charger to hang up . This is important since I have family members that are technologically challenged . Compared to other expandable cordless phones with charging bases , these handsets have fewer buttons and the important ones ( like the Talk button ) are back lit to make it easier to see .
Programming many of the functions were pretty intuitive or natural to me so that I did not have to read the user's manual for programming many of the basic functions . The manual helps cover the rest .
The handset charging LED goes out after the NiMH batteries are fully charged so the yellow LED light may be only annoying at night until it fully charges .
Regardless of what some of the details say these phones DO HAVE a headphone jack so you can use the phones hands-free ( lower left side of the phone as you view the front with the buttons ) .
I like that I can us the intercom to call a specific handset ( even the base ) . Unfortunately , I cannot set a name for each handset ( each is just known by its number from 1 to 6 ) . So I need to remember where each handset is located . The intercom feature only broadcasts to all handsets from the base station . There is a locator button on the base station so you can find that missing handset .
The phonebook entries automatically alphabetize themselves . All 50 of them .
I think the pricing for the five handset Panasonic offer was better than the three set ( KX-TG6443T ) . I find the cost was forty dollars for two more handsets ( at a office supply chain store ) . Considering that one additional handset and charger seems to go for about $40 - $50 , this is a bargain . And even if you don't use them all at the same time , if I or someone drops and damages one , I easily have a spare .
PROS :
Setting up the phones out of the box is easy . The set up menu is easy and intuitive .
Fewer buttons that are backlit makes using the phone easier for the technologically challenged .
Two replaceable AAA size NiMH batteries per handset is easier to find and replace than custom battery packs .
So you get to choose how many handsets ( two to five ) you need or want to afford at the same time . If you can afford all five , get it . I don't think you'll regret it .
CONS :
The belt clips just clip on either side of the phone so I don't expect them to be very secure . Too bad they didn't design them to screw on so that would be secure yet if I snapped the clip , I could still replace the clip .
The intercom feature only allows you to broadcast to all handsets from the base station . You cannot broadcast ( shout out ) to all handsets from one of the handsets .

- SMEARING THE SCREEN . . . the screen is big and while you use the phone the screen rests on your cheeck so after you're finished using the phone , the display generally gets smeared a bit from anything that's on your cheek , moisture etc . You know the same moisture marks that you leave when you put your nose or hand against a window glass . So I have to wipe the phone . On the bright side , you're forced to wipe your phone after you use it .
- CALLER ID NAVIGATION . . . with my old panasonic I could just hit the up or down button to immediately see any missed calls . Now I have to hit the calls button and then toggle the up or down button to see missed . calls . It's one extra step and takes a bit of getting used to . Very minor but thought I'd mention .
- BASE CENTRIC . . . if any one phone is in use , you can't add phone numbers or check voicemail or do anything else with any of the other phones in the house . The only thing you can do with the other phone units is pick up and join the ongoing call .
Overall this is the best phone system I have ever purchased .
029 4 My first cordless phone was a Sony and my second was an AT & T back in the early 1990s . For the last 12 years though the only phones in my house have been Panasonic though .
RECOMMENDATION
Some of these units come with 3 handsets or 4 handsets . If you have a two or three story house and a family I highly recommend you buy the 5 handset system or the 6th handset . My previous panasonic had 3 handsets and there was always someone screaming around the house , has anyone seen the phone ! ? very annoying . With this 5 phone system , that scratching on the nails yelling has stopped : with 5 phones chances are there's one in plain sight of the person looking for a phone .
PROS
- NO ANTENNA . . . this phone is compact and has no protruding antenna which makes it very nice
- TALKING CALLER ID . . . this phone speaks the name of the callerID whenever a call comes in which can be very nice . It's not perfect but you learn to recognize its different attempts at words to know when your parents , inlaws , kids , friends are calling .

061 4 I purchased this model to replace an older Panasonic system as I had been very pleased with that system . However , this model is not nearly as good overall .
PROs : Multiple handsets . I'm using the maximum , 6 handsets . This is the primary reason I bought this system
Small foot print for the base station
Good sound quality
CONs : Power docking stations are very light and handsets are very easy to knock over .
Units feel cheap and insubstantial compared to older model
Controls are VERY poorly thought out . Doing basic answering machine tasks requires stepping through a complex menu system . The trade off of a slightly smaller foot print of the base station in exchange for fewer useful controls was a poor one . For example there is no readout telling you how many calls have been received or if a message is erased how many calls are still recorded on the machine . Otherwise this is a good phone but dealing with the answering machine is a major annoyance .
If another brand had a system available with as many handsets and a convenient answering machine I would look seriously at purchasing that and scrapping this model .
110 4 This cordless phone is a vast improvement to my four year old Panasonic system along virtually every dimension ( range , sound quality , handset feel , ease of use etc . . . . ) I have only a couple of criticisms :
1 ) Panasonic was kind enough to build in many global features - - which if you adjust them on one handset , they get changed on all of the handsets . So , for example , you only have to set the time once and it appears on all of the handsets . Now one of the features they did NOT make global was ringer volume ( including the feature where you can set the phone to be silent during certain times of the day ) . Clearly there are many situations where one wants to adjust ringer volume of each handset separately , but there are also times when one simply wants to turn the ringer off globally . . . it would be VERY nice to have this option rather than having to go to all 5 handsets and make this setting manually .
2 ) There are quite a few menu options and Panasonic was kind enough to put in a nice shortcut system where you can enter a three digit code to get to almost any menu . . . these codes are listed in the manual . But I was surprised that certain features seem to be ONLY accessible via the three digit codes ! I wanted to set my answering machine to Greeting Only and for reasons that are unclear that option appears no where in the menu system . . . I had to enter a special code to get to that area .
But overall - this is an EXCELLENT product . If you are struggling with an old cordless phone with bad reception ( and one that gets interrupted by WiFi etc . ) this is a very small investment to make your life much much better !

THIS PHONE SYSTEM BEATS ANY ONE I HAD PRIOR . IT HAS A LOT OF HANDSETS AND THEIR OWN BASES AND I CAN HAVE ONE AVAILABLE TO ME IN ALMOST EVERY ROOM . THE BEST FEATURE ON THIS PHONE IS THAT YOU CAN BLOCK CALLS THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW IF THERE IS A PHONE NUMBER . THE PHONE WILL ACTUALLY ONLY RING ONCE AND THE CALLER WILL THEN GET A BUSY SIGNAL . this system was much better than expected . i still don't know everything of which it is capable . amazon price with free shipping was SIGIFICANTLY below any price found on the net or local retail stores .
