Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC

  • 032 4  I bought one scanner for my office in July it worked so well that I bought another one the next month . The scans are so clear and the unit straightens up any pages which may feed a little skewed . It is true in operation to what it manufacturer states concerning dropping in different size documents and it takes care of straighting and re sizing . I have put in receipts with 8.5X10 documents and 8.5X14 some front only some front and back and it knows how to treat them all straighting each and skipping blank back pages as well as picking up double sided documents . The scansnap filing system is great for filing scanned documents on the fly . I have yet to have a misfeed and I have scanned some 500 documents my coworker has scanned about 1500 and her office is much more organized . The best part it scans both front and back with one pass and it knows to ignore blank pages . However the scan ocr character recognition when scanning to word is a little tricky . The original document must be clear . I have found that this works better with Word 2007 than with earlier versions of word . I have recommended this scanner to several of my colleagues . Our CPA had an older model Fujitsu scanner and loved ours so much that he plans to get this one as well . He liked the small footprint when folded up it measures about 9.5 X 5 and folds up for easy transporting as well as keeping dust out of the unit . I love it I plan to get one more for our office and I might just get one for my home as well .
    • 050 4  Yep , I'm in the market for another one because the 1st was stolen ! It scans quite well , it's a little bit sexier than the S510 , it comes with acrobat 9 , and it's really just the worthy older brother to the S510 . Kudos to Fujitsu .
    • 059 4  I'm a lawyer and I have been , for all intents and purposes , paperless for about 10 years . During that time I have purchased and utilized a wide variety of scanners including many different models from Hewlett-Packard , Visioneer and several others . This Fujitsu scanner , by far and away , is the best . It is very fast but most importantly the software works efficiently . My goal is to turn paper into searchable PDF files and then save those on my hard drive in a logical fashion for easy indexing by any one of several desktop search engines . This scanner together with its software does that job better than any other scanner I have ever used . This scanner would be worth twice the price .
    • 202 4  This wonderful scanner takes only a tiny space , and quickly scans with multiple save options , and it does double sided scans , reads business cards and many other perks - - but it's inner workings are very tender and the little plastic parts involved in moving the paper can easily break . Still , it is my favorite desktop accessory and makes my work a snap ! Worth the price .
    • 241 4  I really debated about which scanner to get , and decided on the Fujitsu 1500 . Worked great right out of the box . . . no problems with installation . It's quick , the scans are clear . . . I haven't had any problems ! This one's a winner in my book .

  • 040 4  The fact that there is no twain - fine When I go to save - the selection process to choose the folder requires me to go through the drop list of the folder tree every single time I can't even then see the existing contents of the folder . when it's a network drive that is accessed via IP - I have to type in the complete name , every time - without mistakes . The software not allowing me to navigate folders with contents view makes this completely unworkable for me .
    • 207 4  best scanner I ever owned . Use it for business . It is fast and for the most part scans very well . I use it on XP since most of my business software does not run on 7 or Vista I will continue with XP .

  • 041 4  I bought this scanner with Amazon Prime about a week ago . Installation takes 5 - 10 minutes and it is exceptionally easy to use . The quality of the scans are amazing and the speed with which it scans both the front and back ( 3 seconds ) is beyond anything that I have ever used . No more re-inserting a stack of papers to scan the back of double-sided statements . This scanner was an upgrade from a flatbed scanner I had with an automatic document feeder that only did 4 pages per minute . What a phenomenal upgrade for not much more ! This scanner does 20 ppm but it is understated because it can do front and back at 20 ppm . . . so if you do the math , its really 40 ppm implicitly . After reading reviews on both Amazon and Newegg , I decided to buy this scanner and now I want everyone to know what a great deal it is . I was able to scan through a motley crew of about 30 statements in less than an hour . That same amount of work would have taken me hours . Thanks to all the other people that posted reviews and I hope this review convinces you that this is the right scanner for you . For those of you who are worried that this scanner might be too complicated , don't worry . You simply install the software and push a button the scanner to scan . Its something I would recommend for computer users of any age , even my 60 - year old parents !
    • 045 4  It is a very good scanner . It scans both sides of the document at one time - very fast . Software is great , it will recognize blank pages and re-orient the page to the correct way . Can scan different sizes of document at same time . Business scan to contact software but it will only picks up phone and fax . I cannot get it pick up addresses on the business card . The only drawback is - it will only scan pages ( cannot scan a magazine without tearing off the page ) . I should have known because it does not have a flat place like a copier . Overall , it is a very good scanner .
    • 067 4  I don't have much to add to the other reviews except that I agree with them . I ordered this scanner yesterday afternoon with free Amazon shipping , which is the 5 - 9 business days . I got home from work and it was sitting on my front porch . The scanner is everything the other reviewers say it is . It's nice to see that something works like it's supposed to these days . : ) Happy Scanning !
    • 124 4  Excellent scanner for someone who does not need Twain or Isis compatibility . Software included seems great - - - especially for digitizing and organizing paperwork .
    • 132 4  I like it . Doesn't take up much space , is fast and simple . The software is HUGE for scanning software . Only issue I can foresee at this point is when it gets dirty from processing all this paper it might be hard to clean / service . Clearly this is very expensive for a document scanner when a multi-use print / fax / scanner is the same price . The small foot print and great software sold me .
    • 149 4  This scanner is amazing . Only one button , but with excellent software that allows you to determine exactly how your computer should handle the scan . It is so easy to use , crystal clear and very fast . This is the best scanner in this price range - it handles documents very easily and even does a nice job with photos you don't need scanned at a high resolution - even scans in color ! I would recommend this scanner to anyone for home or small business use . I'm on my way to a paperless office with this one !
    • 192 4  I love this thing - great scan speed and can send to pdf , word , excel , access , or email with ease . Only down is that fujitsu , for some unknown reason , removed the scan to folder option from the scansnap manager . Since a full version of Acrobat is over $200 alone , this is a very good deal .

  • 061 4  This is not a technical review , but a practical one . I have a two person office and we bought this scanner instead of replacing our dying copy machine . What a Godsend ! This scanner will take us to another level in terms of the paperless office . Just put it in the scanner , then shove it in the trash . No more stacks of paper lying around . It takes up about as much space as a telephone . This scanner is so awesome , I just ordered one for my desk too . We use it as much as we used our old copy machine , at least 10 times a day . It's fantastic ! ! ! Easy to set up , easy to use , easy to adjust , easy , easy , easy , good , good , good ! Following up this original review , I've been using this scanner more and more and it's working just fine . With the large capacity hard drives on the market today , there is no reason to store old bills , receipts , statements etc . in paper files . When things come in the mail , I scan them , store them on my computer , and then shred them . No more stacks of paper building up on my desk .
    • 115 4  We bought this scanner for our very small accounting firm . We wanted something to scan docs quick ( while client was waiting or stopped by ) so we could create electronic file - rather than saving hoards of paper or making copies ! I have had this about 3 months ( no problems as of yet ) and I am so amazed at this little machine's performance . I did not have to adjust settings for scans or anything . Simply installed software and started scanning . It is pretty fast - at least faster than anything I have ever used ! Saves paper , time , and stress by scanning office documents and storing in pdf format . After the first month , my boss actually took mine and he bought another for me he liked it so much ! ! He is now scanning and e-filing all his mail , credit card statements , and important papers for quick / easy reference !

  • 079 4  I wanted a scanner but didn't want to spend the money so I dithered for months , reading reviews and trying to decide . Finally , on the strength of many excellent reviews I ordered the Fujitsu ScanSnap . I love it ! I'm an accountant and this scanner has enabled me to go pretty much paperless for tax return source docs . It does occasionally jam but I'm pretty careful how I load stuff and it doesn't happen often . It is easy to clear the jam , which is nice . It is fast , the quality of the scans are excellent , and it has a small footprint . I have Adobe Pro which allows me to manipulate what I've scanned - and I think that adds to my satisfaction with the scanner . The only thing I wish this product had - and this is a software issue - is a choice of scanning dpcuments and then adding more pages to the same scan . It may be an option that I just haven't figured out . I end up scanning batches and then combining them in Adobe . Other than that - I highly recommend this product .
    • 017 4  The Fujitsu ScanSnap is a great scanner ! It is very fast . It scans double sided documents with one pass . It scans small receipts and full size documents , There is an organizer to manage all your paperwork ! It converts documents to word docs you can edit as well as Excel and PoerPoint docs ! I'm on my way to becoming paperless and getting rid of all my boxes of receipts and statements , etc . . . . It's a snap to use !
    • 048 4  Was using a multifunction scanner and wasn't getting very good quality . This Scanner performs well and meets all my expectations . An excellent choice for a small office looking to go paperless .
    • 152 4  I've been planning to purchase the ScanSnap for two years . I wish I had done it before . This is best piece of equipment in my office . It is the best quality I've ever taken out of a box . It's easy to use and comes with a brain .
    • 211 4  The ScanSnap was recommended to me by a friend who has been using it for over a year . It does everything I expected and more . It is easy to use , easy to install and produces first rate scans .

  • 093 4  Wow scanners have come a long way . I rarely write reviews , but felt compelled enough about the quality of this product to take a moment to let everyone know that this is a great device . It will change your life on how you keep and maintain documents . I poured over different models , you can't go wrong with this one . And wow is it fast ! The duplex capability alone makes this great , but the OCR software is very good , and fast as well ( probably depends partially on your processor speed ) . For a moment I was thinking , really , I'm buying the Fujitsu ? since I didn't have as much experience as most of the other consumer brands . 5 stars .
    • 015 4  Price brought this level of speed and flexibility into range where I could justify the purchase . I was very happy with the installation and use of this scanner . Has increased the productivity of scanning in documents and detecting and scanning double sided documents automatically , a feature not available with my multifunction that included the scanning function I had used previously . Someone who does over 200 or so documents a month could justify this scanner . I saw it demonstrated at a national financial planning meeting by the Fujitsu rep . and determined this model was exactly what I needed at this price point . Highly recommended .
    • 022 4  First , I had the prior model . However , I am now hooked on Fujitsu and would not hesitate to buy the newer version , if only my old ones broke down . For my law office , I must scan all documents into PDF in order to file / scan with the court system . It is absolutely amazing how easy it is . I can scan a document , assign it to a folder and upload it to the courts in under a minute . I have bought several of the last model for my office , all with no problems after daily use.I buy alot of different types of electronics and this one was so easy and is so reliable . Highly recommended .
    • 143 4  I was up and running in about 15 minutes ( the software takes all of that to install ) . This is very easy-to-use and requires almost no reading of instructions - - very intuitive . You can drop in receipts , pages , magazine clippings , etc . and the Fujitsu scans it all lightening fast and you have your images right away . The quality is incredible and the fact that it duplex scans with such high quality is amazing . I haven't been this satisfied with a purchase of something electronic in years !
    • 227 4  The freedom that goes with the prospect of eliminating paper and going paperless is indeed life changing . All of a sudden without the piles of paper I can think more clearly . I have scanned and saved everything into folders to my external hard drive and backed it up each night using Mozy Home back-up . Now , one or two clicks ( seconds ) and I'm reviewing beautiful documents . In the process of throwing away our filing cabinents . Thanks Fujitsu .

  • 107 4  I had done a considerable amount of research on scanners and hands on operation of other models prior to the purchase of the ScanSnap S1500 . The S1500 was easy to setup and was up and running in about 15 minutes . The S1500 offered me the ease of use , duplex scanning , color scanning , speed , and simple filing that other models couldn't offer for the price .
    • 091 4  I found this scanner through the web . Great duplex scanner . I bought a second . Great quality scans . Includes Acrobat 9 Standard , which makes the price of the scanner a good value .

  • 126 4  Amazing - has made my home office much cleaner ! This combined with external hard drive and online drive backups make paper records obsolete ! My old multifunction would take 20 minutes to scan 15 pages and made it very time consuming to scan all my docs . . .
    • 138 4  We purchased 7 of these for office staff and they absolutely love them . They are quick and produce a very clear scan of documents . We are very pleased with the product and with the quick delivery even with free ground shipping .
    • 209 4  We were extremely pleased with the product , the quick delivery , and the ease of purchase . Amazon is amazing !

  • 130 4  I am an attorney and a sole practitioner with an existing computer network . In all honesty neither I nor my staff are computer whizzes and we have learned a lot of things by repetition and use . Our Court filing system has three options , manual filing , filing through fax server , and electronic filing with pdf files . The handwriting is on the wall for the first option , and frankly the second option is so bad that many people returned to the first option . I purchased this scanner to take advantage of the third option and it has been outstanding . I got my son to hook this up and teach my staff and I how to use it . It is very user friendly and after using it for about a month we are getting better at it each time . The price is extremely reasonable when you consider that many companies only market multifunction machines that scan , print , and copy . Aside from the expense , a lot of these machines are hard to integrate into an existing network . The only glitch I would mention is be sure you have a dvd drive on your computer so you can install the software , a cd rom drive will not do it . This is probably more a reflection on my limited computer skills than on the product . Thankfully , my son was in that day .

    • 144 4  After reading the reviews on this website , I ultimately decided that this was the scanner for me . I was a bit anxious about spending so much money on a scanner , but the investment definitely paid off . I am a 4th grade teacher and have been using this to make my classroom paperless . It does NOT jam very often at all , and when it does it is literally a two second fix . It is very fast . You can even convert PDFs to word documents with the programs on this scanner with ease . I had to call customer service about something that was ultimately my fault . . . but the customer service was outstanding , knowledgable , and diagnosed the problem quickly and easily . I can't say enough great things about this scanner .
      • 154 4  I got this scanner about a week . Love it ! ! ! I have wanted to organize my office for years , as in get rid of countless papers , boxes of receipts , business cards . . . At first , I bought NeatReceipts . It has a great concept but the scanner is the worst . I returned it and got this one after reading good reviews on it . It scans docs very fast , the result is exceptional . It is worth of the money . My office is finally clean and bright . I finally can see the original color of my desk again .
      • 163 4  This is a great scanner for the money . it does sometimes have difficulty with pulling multiple sheets through with thin paper . Paper that is thin will also scan the backside through the paper . However that also tells me how good the scanner quality it . Great scan and handling quality once I got the software and filing system figured out . would recommend to anyone ! super fast Amazon shipping !
      • 190 4  very very good scanner , very fast , professional , easy to use , the best and the easest scanner i have ever used , nothing comes even close to this one , if you buy any other scanner then your are loosing and will have problems .
      • 205 4  This little power horse is truly amazing . It's reliable , simple , and superior on its scan quality . Stick a stack of papers - double sided , into the top tray and hit one button and the documents are pulled evenly into the scanner , never once have I had it jam with a double feed . I can even feed in small cash register or credit card receipts , as long as you center then in the feed tray . The software works well , and provides an intuitive interface for the device . If you've struggled with multi-sheet scanners , and want one you can just clean up your desk and toss in a stack of papers for scanning , this is the device for you ! Small , compact , easy , and reliable . I won't need another scanner !
      • 220 4  There are very few products that i've been excited to receive , but have still managed to exceed my expectations . This scanner is simply fantastic . I've had it installed for about 6 hours and have scanned nearly 5000 sides of paper . Tearing through the filing cabinet has never been more fun . The only real downsides is that the software is a little quirky , but it didn't take me long to get the hang of it . Also I find i need to buy a better shredder - mine overheats and switches off just trying to keep up with the scansnap : )
      • 229 4  There is too much paper used in this world - unnecessary waste . Then you have to save paper for records - waste of space . I have lightened my load of paper . This scanner is easy to use and condenses the files . The one thing I would like to see is a carrying case for my nomadic lifestyle .
      • 243 4  Won't scan newspaper - it needs to be put in carrier sheet . I like the size and ease of putting scanning in folders . Need to find out whether you can just scan one side of a page or if there is writing on both sides of the page , it will always scan both sides . Is there an option to scan only one side of page ? Guess I better get the manual out : )

    • 146 4  This was purchased for an employee who does not like change & is not computer / tech savvy . Not only do they love it , they actually figured out how to use it without the manual . . . . . it is that easy . I highly recommend this product .
      • 071 4  I bought this scanner for my office to go paperless . We've scanned thousands of papers so far and it works great . The only problems occur when we forget to take out staples . I highly recommend this scanner .

    • 172 4  This scanner was easy to install , works fast , duplex scans are simple , and it comes with Adobe Standard , which is nearly worth the cost of the unit . I scanned a 300 page double sided document , saved it in a high quality 12 meg searchable pdf file , and then optimized it to 4 meg so it could be emailed . I have nothing to compare this to as I have no further need of my flat-bed other than to copy a page from a book . The sheet feeder is fast , and the software is turned off when the unit is not in use . Open the lid and load your document - an icon indicates it is ready - right click on the icon when you're ready and pick from a short menu - duplex or simplex - pick one and the feeder zips the paper through . For a large document I did about 40 sheets at a time - then used Adobe standard to put them together . The book above took about 15 minutes to scan and about 5 minutes to put together and then optimize . Another nice feature is it folds up neatly on the desk , covering the working parts and protecting it from dust and office debris . In the closed position it is easy to dust and I can utilize the space in front for active projects . So far , I'm liking it , and it is the only piece of electronic equipment I've ever felt compelled to write a review about . What does that tell you ?
      • 011 4  Love the Scanner and agree with the other comments . However , there is one little thing you may come across . When scanning paperwork that has straight lines , a box , etc on it you'll notice that when scanned , there will be some slight waves in the lines . Spoke to Fujitsu and this is a known issue . I'm told the previous model did this too . This minor detail by no means takes away from how awesome this scanner is but wanted folks to know about it in case they're experiencing it too .
      • 112 4  I just bought this scanner for my office after using the scanner in an older 3 - in - 1 machine . The old scanner was slow , tedious and frustrating to use . This Fujitsu is amazingly compact - it fits on my desk without getting in the way at all . The scans are wicked good quality - almost like photos . Colors scan very well . Plus the machine is smart . The very first scan I did , I put in a two sided document expecting to have to re-feed it to scan the second side but this scanner detects , without my telling it anything , whether a document is one or two sided and deals with it accordingly . Finally , it is VERY fast . My only frustration with this scanner is that a couple of times the software has acted as though it can't detect the scanner - I'm not sure if this is an issue with Vista or what . In any case , the problem is easy to remedy by closing and reopening the software . Since getting this scanner I have scanned hundreds of pages and love it !
      • 136 4  I researched for months before deciding on this scanner . It does what it says it does . My only complaint was that the intial set up was not as simple as I had hoped . Thankfully we have a ' techie guy in our office , who after several hours , figured it out and now it works like a dream . It scans lightning fast , documents are easy to save and file . It takes up very little space on your desktop . Worth every penny .
      • 239 4  This is the only dedicated scanner I have ever purchased so I can't compare it to others . I bought it to scan several paper boxes of documents . My high school age daughter actually installed it on my wife's Vista 64bit system and had scanned in an entire box of documents before I got home . I looked at some of the scans and was very satisfied with the quality . We're very satisfied with the scanner - quality , ease of use and small foot print add up a recommendation from us .

    • 176 4  After seeing a TV commercial for a competitive product I started investigating on line . What I found out was that this item was rated much higher . I bought it and it does what it says it will do with flying colors . The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because of connectivity issues with my computer requiring a reboot to get the scansnap manager to recognize the connection . At last I can get rid of the vast boxes of financial papers I have accumulated over the years . It should be bundled with a high capacity shredder .
      • 033 4  For my purposes it's a great little scanner that does more than I expected . Had only one problem where I needed to call tech . support and they did a wonderful job of correcting it . Would buy it again in a heartbeat .
      • 074 4  Here is a good test . I bought this for my wife's office and they were able to unpack , hook up and use without one call to me .
      • 087 4  I would have given this five stars if not for the fact that when a document is more than about 7 pages it tends to get jumbled up in the output tray . The machine is wonderfully fast and the scans are clear . The software bundled with the machine is somewhat confusing and there is no documentation supplied saying what each application program is for .
      • 141 4  I purchased this scanner for my dental office a few months ago . I have hundreds of old dental records that I am currently storing in file boxes . I am in the process of scanning these records onto a portable hard drive . This is an easy and relatively quick process using this scanner . I would recommend this scanner to anyone with a large number of pages to scan .
      • 178 4  I just wanted to add my own 5 stars . This scanner is super fast , easy to use , and rarely jams . I went through my file cabinet and emptied it ! You can put a stack of receipts in it and it will scan all the different sizes perfectly . Also , it is very compact . I was surprised at how small it is . You can't go wrong with this scanner .
      • 180 4  Fantastic product - - compact , easy to use , works just like promised ! I am very satisfied !
      • 186 4  We use one of these at our office and it is really a work horse . Now that I have one at home , I can only say it is a great product , easy to install and easier to use .
      • 215 4  This is a great scanner . I do a lot of scanning . This works great . I did have to figure out how to feed in to have the pages show up top up . It scans front and back and has crystal clear quality . I have been very pleased with this product and would recommend to all .
      • 217 4  I own a growing engineering company and alot of paperwork comes through our office and we needed a way to effectively manage . This scanner is just the trick . Performs well - it is fast and now we are able to keep all of our reports saved electronically just as we have submitted to clients / local and state regulatory agencies . Good product . Paid for itself in just a few days as far as time saved making copies or scanning using our multipurpose printers .
      • 245 4  The product performs double sided high speed color scanning . I started to use the product at work on the referral of a colleague and liked it so much I bought one for home .

    • 235 4  have been using the scanner for 1 month and love it . I have tested using different paper sizes including receipts and it works fine . I have had an occassional jam but as the other reviews state , it is easy to unjam and the software allows continuation of the scan without starting over . I have saved to file and printed ; not yet sent e-mails of scanned material . Did one scan of a photo and it was fine ; not great quality but not bad . The speed is as advertised and the ease of use excellent since you really only have to hit the scan button on the machine and the software leads you through how you want to save the scan . Glad I bought it .
      • 044 4  I have now used this scanner for two big projects with documents and photos . I scanned over 100 photos , all different sizes in just a few minutes . The quality was surprisingly great . It even straightened the image if the photo went through the scanner in a skewed position . I also had to compile over 40 sets of documents and did it with great ease . Before I bought this , I checked the reviews and was very impressed . This is probably one the best reviewed products I have ever seen. Now that I have it , I see why . I think I might get the portable version , too .
      • 148 4  This is my first scanner , and it is great . It is small , quiet , fast ( to me ) , and easy to use even for a computer illiterate like me . It was recommended to me by a friend who has had a similar model for over a year . It is a tremendous time-saver for someone like me who has a one-person office . I had been told at a conference earlier this summer that I would need a scanner in the $3400 price range to make clear copies suitable for court . Not so !
      • 168 4  This little scanner is amazing , so easy to use and so compact when it's not in use ! It actually produces copies as clear and sharp as the $3000 copier we already had in another office area . It's even easier to use than the more expensive one . If it does occasionally feed 2 sheets at a time ( it's only happened a couple of times ) you can reload and continue without starting all over like the bigger more expensive scanners . I've had mine for about 3 months and I wouldn't trade it for 2 of the big , bulky beasts that coast a small fortune , it's saved me so much time and aggravation . . . I just can't say enough about it .

    • duplex scanning automatic blank page removal ( useful for duplex scanning single sided pages ) includes full Adobe Acrobat OCR initiate from scanner . you don't need to start from the pc specialized biz card scanner - it identifies addresses , phone numbers , email , etc auto-rotate & straighten - doesn't matter how you scan the sheet , it fixes the rotation for you . things i don't like : paper feeder errors out frequently - it's easy to jam the feeder or pull more than one page . This is the single most frustrating thing about it . limited paper feeder - if i feed more than 10 sheets at a time , i have a very high chance of jamming the feeder . biz card scanner ocr gets company names wrong more often than not . overall though , i'm still pretty happy with this scanner .
      • 004 4  i really like this scanner . it does a great job of just being simple and functional . things i like : duplex scanning automatic blank page removal ( useful for duplex scanning single sided pages ) includes full Adobe Acrobat OCR initiate from scanner . you don't need to start from the pc specialized biz card scanner - it identifies addresses , phone numbers , email , etc auto-rotate & straighten - doesn't matter how you scan the sheet , it fixes the rotation for you . things i don't like : paper feeder errors out frequently - it's easy to jam the feeder or pull more than one page . • 218 4  Our office needs a second scanner so this is what we bought . This unit is surprisingly small ( which is a good thing ) . Took less than 10 minutes from opening the box to scanning . Very easy and intuitive to set up and use . I'm scanning only documents into the pdf format , mostly black and white , nothing fancy . Fast scanning ! The only annoyance is - - the scanned pdf file is automatically open on the computer screen . This remains the case even after de-selecting show scan result . Does anyone know how to turn off this function ?
      • 231 4  Great scanner , super fast , easy to install / connect , and I'm no techie . Includes bonus Acrobat software .
      • 237 4  This is a big step up - - paper feeds more smoothly than it did in my old Scansnap , the scans are sharper , and overall performance is better . I'm not convinced all the doors that open and close are necessary , but they do make it look like a nice neat package when I'm not using it . Recommended .

    • Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I have never had a dedicated document scanner before . In the past , I used the Auto-document feeder on my all-in-one printer / scanner / fax machines to scan documents into adobe acrobat . That meant for each batch of papers , I needed to set the color / resolution / paper size / quality settings and then work through Acrobat in order to save each file . It worked , but it was slow going . Then I bought this new scansnap 1500 , based on the ratings of the earlier model ( the scansnap 510 ) . I installed only the main program to my computer ( the software also includes OCR programs , organizational programs , and acrobat 9 , which I already have ) . I hooked up the scanner and stuck in a stack of old notes I took from some college courses - - some notes were in color , some were b & w , some on two sides , some on one side , and some of the pages were upside down . I hit the only button on the machine ( SCAN ) , and to my sheer amazement , it started flying through the stack of notes without any additional prompts or effort . It then automatically saved my file as a pdf - - all of the pages were in order , color pages were in color , b & w pages were in b & w , etc . The only issue I noticed was that if there were any marks whatsoever on the back side of my note papers , it included those blank pages in the file . I repeated this process with any papers I could get my hands on . I even tried sticking in papers of varying sizes , and it sped through them all without a problem . I am officially hooked . ( In a moment of either stupidity or genius , I sliced the spine off of an old book and scanned that in too . ) I did notice a few things that are worth mentioning specifically : 1 ) This scanner is much smaller than it looks . I was expecting something the size of a inkjet printer , but it is actually about the size of a loaf of bread . 2 ) You have to place the papers GENTLY into the scanner or it will jam . If I push the papers in too far , it pulls through several pages at a time and the software warns you to start over . 3 ) I am running the software on Windows 7 RC1 , so I can tell you that , at least in my case , it will work on Win7 .

    • Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased the Fujitsu SnapScan S1500 during Christmas 2009 . Over two months , I have scanned over 14,000 pages without problems . The scanner is truly a remarkable productivity tool that I will continue to use to convert my technical library into a searchable PDF library . All in all , the software does perform as the descriptions indicate . The scanner is extremely fast and performs in a very forgiving manner . Although I am using the scanner with a Mac , I purchased the Windows version to get the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 . I run Vista using fusion , so I am able to utilize the Mac platform for most of my business applications and occasionally use Windows , if I really need to . The Mac has had absolutely no problems with the scanner . perhaps over the next several months , I will be able to reclaim 50 yards of bookshelves in my office . The business card scanner software performs as advertised but it is not good enough to populate the Mac address book with the requisite information . The resulting data does not have the granularity that the address book looks for . I'm still trying to find software that will allow business card scanning with direct input into the address book . However , having said that I believe the software should work just fine with Microsoft outlook . Note that the software is meant to only scan and create a searchable PDF file . The user would need software , such as Preview or Acrobat , to work with the file . There are numerous PDF software packages that can do all kinds of miraculous modifications to the file . If I have time , I like to cut out the articles such that the advertisements are removed and save the articles as a new PDF file . This helps with searching and file size . However , it does take more time . A few points about using the scanner may help new users to avoid a few very minor issues . I like to read magazines and scan the articles that strike me . Most magazines have a gum backing ( to hold the pages ) which will leave a slight deposit on the scanner's clear plastic scanning area . This is not detrimental to the scanner But after scanning numerous pages , the clear plastic windows should be cleaned . A soft cloth gently applied to the window will clear the gummy substance . Don't be too aggressive as the gummy material will come off and you do not want to smear or scratch the scanning area . Currently , I try to cut the backing off with a knife so that the gummy stuff does impact the scanner . Also , If you want to scan a book , use a table saw to cut off the binding or find a printer that has a power knife to slice off the backing . The scanner is extremely forgiving if you forget a staple . Before scanning an old group of papers , be sure to fan the stack to ensure that the pages are not stuck to each other and that staples are not included in the batch . If a staple is missed , you'll definitely recognize the noise as the feeder attempts to pull the stuck pages through . Quickly release the scanners lock mechanism which will open up the clamshell scanner design . This is a single button ( push button lever ) located on the right side of the swing-out portion of the scanner . Opening the mechanism will automatically shut the scan down , relieve the stuck staple ( pages ) and protects the scanner . The software will ask if you want to continue scanning but usually you need to straighten up the papers , remove any staples or stuck areas and re-start the scan from the beginning . I use an old credit card to rake the crumpled paper back into a semi-flat condition . The scanner is very forgiving for less than perfectly flat paper . Sometimes the papers ( reports ) are bound using a spiral binding . after removing the spiral binding , simply load up the paper and press the scan button . Sometimes the holes may tend to catch on the ( scanned ) page as it exits the scanner which causes the overall scanned stack to start to spill off the tray . This is not a big deal . Simply remove paper as it begins to misbehave or watch and guide the sheets as they feed through . I usually sit with the scanner as it works since most scams are only a few pages . Often , the pages behave and over 50 can be scanned in one run . Very glossy magazine pages may have to be fed through more carefully . A very large stack of glossy pages ( 20 - 50 ) may not feed through very well . Limit the number of pages to five or so . Five pages probably covers most articles . PDF scanning software works quite well . It is very valuable to ensure that the PDF file is searchable . however creating searchable PDF files does take a bit more time . Once you start going to an electronic filing system , you no longer know which notebook or file folder the paper is in . Being able to search the text in the scan is the only way to find your electronic knowledge , regardless of how clever your filing convention may be .
      • 001 4  My old HP scanner ( actually , it wasn't that old ) died a few months ago and it was time for me to get a new one . I accidently came across the predecessor to the ScanScap S1500 ( the S510 ) last week while I was having my taxes done and was amazed at the speed and compactness of it . My tax person also gave it glowing reviews . As I wasn't aware that Fujitsu manufactured scanners , I thought I'd do a little research which led me to reviews of the S510 here on Amazon . Rather amazingly , I was very surprised to find that the S510 had so many extraordinarily high reviews ( something that I don't believe I come across too often , especially with items such as scanners ) . One of those reviews mentioned that a new model ( this one - the S1500 ) had just been released by Fujitsu . After some more research ( it wasn't yet listed on Amazon ) , I found that this scanner was available and that it had many new features . As it turns out , I was the first kid on my block to acquire one and I'm glad I did ! This machine is incredible ! The speed is absolutely blinding - an incredible 20 pages per minute but , because it scans both sides of a page at the same time , double sided documents scan at 40 PAGES PER MINUTE ! Wow ! As with previous models , this scanner is very small and appears to be well built : it's quite heavy for its small size and fits very nicely on my small computer desk . The scanning quality is equally spectacular - it scans up to 600 dpi in color , grayscale , and black and white and mine came with a good assortment of software ( Adobe Acrobat 9 , Rack2 - Filer , and ABBYY FineReader ) . It scans documents beautifully ! While I've been too busy scanning the billions of pieces of paper that have cluttered my life for years ( this scanner will actually do that quickly and efficiently - something I've always just dreamed would be possible ) , I haven't yet tried to scan photos ; I suspect that this scanner will do a good job but that another type of scanner would probably do better for archival purposes ) . The only problems I've had were with Acrobat ( I already have Acrobat 9 Pro on my computer ) - I found that importing previously scanned documents into Rack2 - filer were always listed in reverse order ( ugh ! ) and Fujitsu tech support replicated the problem . They suggested , however , that I completely uninstall ( not just repair ) Acrobat and reinstall it . That did the job . BTW , I received great tech support from Fujitsu . One interesting thing is that this scanner does not come with TWAIN drivers . Because of this , it is not possible to use it to the same extent as other scanners . Just the same , my reason for getting this scanner was to create . pdf files and this scanner does it like no other . Overall , I'm thrilled with the Fujitsu S1500 - there is no question that it is the best one I've had ( and I've had many ) and is well worth the money ( the S1500 is also the most expensive scanner I've ever purchased ) . I would recommend this to anyone who needs to scan documents .
      • 008 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) The first evening we owned it we scanned about 2000 pages of old bills , receipts , insurance and tax information . It handled all kinds of papers from receipts to carbon forms to magazine pages to paper in one stack . For the most part it will take any mix of sizes and type of paper , but it is sometimes easier to scan separately and use the drag-and-drop PDF editor to combine the pages together . The included OCR software is very easy to use , OCRs and coverts the PDFs in the background . The resulting PDFs are images of the original page with real text underneath , permitting searches and cut'n'paste . The output tray is one of the few weaknesses of the hardware . Sheets emerging from the scanner tend to catch previous pages and push them , sometimes completely off the tray , but almost always into a fairly unruly pile . It's worse if the documents are of mixed sizes . It really cannot handle photos at all . I'm not sure what causes it , but the results on a glossy photograph are unusuable . Far below the quality of other documents , with large color smears and other artifacts . The feed mechanism is not gentle enough for pictures , either , so you'd want to use the included carrier sheet for any photos you really cared about , which defeats the document feeder aspect of the scanner . The software has flashes of brilliance and moments of stupidity . The business card app does an amazing job of extracting data from all kinds of odd business card layouts . . . but it can't handle inverse text ( white on a dark background ) at all . The multi-feed detection and the dialog that helps you recover is very nice , but the paper jam popup is different and uninformative . You can continue scanning from almost any condition with the one blue button on the unit , but if you want to do anything unusual ( like simplex scanning ) you have to navigate to the tiny systray icon and pick it from the right-click menu . It does a great job of eliminating blank pages and it can even split stacks of pages into many documents , but it * can't * split them up by original input sheets ( unless you set it to leave in blank pages and split into 2 - page documents ) . No one can be using the computer connected to the scanner because it steals focus at the beginning , end and for any error condition . Overall I'm extremely happy with it and expect it to eliminate many filing cabinets worth of old documents . In the first week after I bought mine , two other people bought S1500s on my recommendation . If they weren't quite so expensive I'd probably give them to everyone I know as Christmas gifts !

      • 010 4  Scansnap S1500 Clr 600DPI USB 2.0 A3 50PG Adf Document Scan This product is an upgrade from the ScanSnap S510 and now works with either Macs or PC's without any additional software needed . Better yet , it is also compatible with Windows 32 - bit or 64 - bit operating systems . If you're unfamiliar with the differences just know that this is a very good thing ! The scanner software includes Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard ( license for two computers ) . It also ships with Scansnap Manager and Organizer that are excellent options for organized filing . If you are strictly a Mac user then purchase S1500M which , at the date of this writing , ships with Adobe 8 Professional . Most importantly , the scanning ability is effortless . Watch a video from Fujitsu for more details . I absolutely recommend this product !
      • 012 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I got this scanner a month or so ago and I love it today as much as I did on day one . For years I've wanted to organize my office , as in get rid of countless files , back tax returns , and mounds of paper. With the scanner I have thinned out filing cabinets and ripped through stacks of old papers . My desk is finally clear , and I plan to keep it that way . The scanner is very fast , one sided or two , and with reasonable paper , rarely jams . When it does jam , it is very easy to clear . You can scan to PDF files or Word or Excel files , all searchable , plus email and scan business cards . When you're done , it closes up into a very small footprint . It is a great piece of technology . ( Did I mention that my wife wishes I spoke as lovingly about her . )

      • 014 4  Note - This scanner is the next generation of the Fujitsu ScanSnap S500 Clr 18PPM / 36IPM Dupl Scanner Our office has dozens of HP Scanjets and Xerox Documates and , as the IT guy , I hate every one . Feeders wear out , get jammed , pull multiple pages through , and are slow . I decided to go with the Fujistu ScanSnap because of all the great reviews , despite the higher price . Our budget doesn't allow for a copier scanner or a high priced workstation scanner . For the price , the ScanSnap is excellent . 1 . This scanner is very small . It is only slightly wider than a letter-sized sheet of paper , and when everything is folded up , it is half as long . Unlike other scanners , I can easily find room for it at any desk in our office . It is so small it could even sit on top of a workstation . 2 . This scanner is VERY easy to use . Previous scanners had buttons all over them for different functions . You would press the regular scan button , and then have to wait for the scanner's software to start up , the lamp to warm up , the image to preview ( I HATE previewing the image ! ) , and the slow process of scanning . The Fujitsu ScanSnap has two buttons . A power button ( which I never use since I leave the unit on all the time ) and a big green SCAN button . Put the paper in , press the button , and literally within about 5 seconds it scans the image , and in another 3 or 4 it converts it to PDF and saves it . It is amazing how insanely fast this scanner is . 3 . The Software provided by Fujitsu is great . It is very unobtrusive and easy to use . I scan most of my docs to PDF , so after it is done scanning , I just use their included software , which shows previews of the actual scans . I can click an e-mail button and 2 seconds later it opens my email program with the scan already attached . MUCH faster than scanning directly from Acrobat . It's also great that I can use their software standalone and don't have to deal with Acrobat at all , which is incredibly bloated in version 7 . It comes with some other software , such as an OCR reader which I haven't tried , and a program called CardMinder which you can use to scan in business cards . It will scan the card , use the OCR reader to categorize the contact information , as well as save an actual image of the card . I don't use this program either but it definitely seems useful for people who receive a lot of cards . It also comes with Acrobat Standard 7.0 so you don't have to buy Adobe's software . This might be the best piece of office equipment I've purchased . If you are looking for a powerful scanner at a mid-range price it is great , and I definitely recommend it for anyone who does a lot of scanning to PDF . It is worth the extra $250 or so compared to the HP scanners simply for the copy of Acrobat and the speed of use . The differences between the S1500 and its predecessor , the Fujitsu ScanSnap S500 Clr 18PPM / 36IPM Dupl Scanner , are : 1 . The S1500 is slightly faster at scanning , and the software seems to be a little faster at processing the documents . Given that the S500 was fast to begin with , the increase is barely noticeable . 2 . Form factor - The S1500 has straighter lines and looks more modern while the S500 is a little more rounded . The differences are pretty dramatic and I probably prefer the S1500 more . 3 . The S1500 comes bundled with a newer version of ScanSnap Manager . That's somewhat significant because it is pretty difficult to obtain the software / drivers if you don't have the disc it came with . You can't just go on Fujitsu's site and download it , you have to actually contact them and give them your model number , and then they give you an FTP site to obtain the software . So don't lose your discs . It also comes with Acrobat Standard 9 . The Acrobat software is terrible , but it is a little better than the Acrobat Standard 8 that comes bundled with the S500 . Overall , I do think they improved a bit on the S500 , but not enough where anyone needs to replace their S500 with the S1500 .
      • 016 4  If you're like me you've been looking everywhere for a photo scanner that has an ADF to finally digitize all of your photos . Like me , you probably don't want to spend the rest of the year scanning with a flatbed but probably also aren't comfortable shipping away your memories in a Fedex box to a scan service . All I want is a digital copy of my pictures for purposes of scrapbooking or loading onto photo sharing sites . Well , I'm happy to say that the ScanSnap might just help you out . On my first night playing with ScanSnap , I scanned in a few pieces of mail and about 75 - 4x6 photos from the 80 ' s and 90 ' s . I was VERY happy with the results and am now in the process of scanning the rest of my photos , my parents and some of my friends , too . On scan quality : * The first couple scans yielded a burn mark across the top of the scanned image . I'm going to work with Fujitsu to troubleshoot that issue . However , I found that I could scan the images face up ( it defaults to face down ) and the burnt edges went away . A little dust streaking here and there needed to be cleaned up , but other than that , no other scanner marks or burned spots . ( I'll be posting images for a sample of the burn marks ) * The scanned image comes out really nicely - very close to the original . Now , these are just snapshots from point and shoot cameras so you have to realize that they can be grainy to begin with . This scanner serves my purpose perfectly which is to preserve my photos and provide a little organization . * Scanned at 600dpi . I did a test for a few photos using both the ScanSnap S1500 and my Canon Lide Scan 30 ( just your run of the mill desktop scanner ) . I'll post some side-by-side comparisons . I'm sure there's tweaking to be done on both sides , but the ScanSnap holds up on clarity and the color is actually a little more focused . ( The scan settings on the flatbed may have washed out the color a little ) For any photos I plan to enlarge , I'll scan on a flatbed at a higher DPI , but since most of the original are 4x6 , I'm not gaining much but file size . * For great info on batch scanning photos , check out these sites : o [ . . . ] Here the writer suggests that you won't gain much by scanning at higher than 200 dpi ! ! o For a more detailed explanation read here : [ . . . ] , replete with a printing / resolution calculator : [ . . . ] o Since the ScanSnap is so quick , I plan on sticking with 600 , but all the same * Another note , the setting to Continue scanning after current scan is finished is quite helpful . The feeder fits about 25 photos easily ( maybe more , but I haven't tried to stuff more in ) . You can use this option to continue to feed the tray when the previous 10 are done and all the images will be scanned in the same batch . On document organization : * I do want to go paperless . I'm terrible at filing and this has given me an opportunity to get rid of all those loose papers . There's plenty out there on why it's good to be paperless ( security , organization , etc ) so I won't bore you with that . This scanner is lightening quick and doesn't make filing a chore . I've gotten rid of my filing cabinet full of documents from the past few years in only a couple of days . I don't want to make light of it's perfection as a document scanner but there are plenty of testaments to it's speed and ease of use . I purchased the deluxe version with Rack2Filer . Hopefully this helps you all out there who are looking at the ScanSnap as a photo scanner . Let me emphasize , it's not professional quality and a more discerning eye might shun the use of a document scanner for photos . Some other users have mentioned why they don't think it's a good photo scanner , but for me this scanner is perfect ! In one night , I whipped through 200 while watching TV !
      • 018 4  I've been using ScanSnaps since they first appeared on the horizon . Prior to that , I'd been on a serious quest to become totally paperless . I worked in a law firm and convinced them to get a scanner and I learned how to use it . The machine was large , complicated and expensive . If it hadn't been so expensive I would have bought one for myself to use at home , but I just couldn't justify it . When the ScanSnap was announced I realized that finally there was a scanner that could scan batches of documents at an affordable price . I assumed that there had to be a catch , and that would mean the scanner wasn't quite top-notch . I bought one anyway . I realized instantly that this was the holy grail of scanners . And , as I said , I've been using them ever since . Every one of these scanners has been a model of reliability . I've recommended these scanners to hundreds of people and every single person I've recommended it to has wound up falling in love with it . Like anything in the world of technology , it is best if you take the time to explore the settings and figure out how to make it work best for you . As a home scanner there is simply no other option , not in my view . The all-in-one machines are fine if you only want to scan a few things here and there . If you are going to scan stacks of documents then you need a real scanner . How good is this scanner ? Well , like I said , I'm a lawyer and I've recommended this scanner to other lawyers and helped them set it up . Many other tech-savvy lawyers I know have discovered this scanner on their own . Lawyers as you may know , are huge devourers of paper . A couple of lawyers I know work in small firms where this is the only scanner . It can totally handle the workflow of paper that a small firm of lawyers receives . But , most of these firms quickly decide to get a scanner for each lawyer . And why not ? It's not that expensive , especially when you consider that it comes pre-loaded with Adobe Acrobat ( which is normally a $200 + value ) . If you want to be paperless then you want to scan to PDF , and having Acrobat allows you to manipulate your PDFs ( e.g . add signatures , insert pages , rotate pages , make sticky notes etc . ) . I've used both the Mac version of this scanner and the Windows version and they are completely equivalent . They both work wonderfully . The Windows version of this scanner comes with wonderful software called ScanSnap Organizer , which makes it really easy to batch scan a bunch of different papers ( e.g . bank statements , utility bills , receipts etc ) and then later on put them into folders or whatever you want to do to organize things . The Mac version doesn't come with this software , but there is a great program called ' Yep ' ( just google ' yep mac software ' and you'll find it ) that costs about $34 and is even better ( in my opinion ) than the Organizer software that comes with the Windows version of the ScanSnap . It's rare in the world of technology that one product winds up dominating because it simply stands heads-and-shoulders above everything else that purports to compete with it . The Fujitsu ScanSnap is one such product . I advise a lot of lawyers about becoming paperless , and whenever I hear that someone has tried and failed to make the switch away from paper , I often find that the root problem is with their scanner . It's either too powerful ( and therefore too complicated ) , or it's not powerful enough ( e.g . the all-in-one device , and this is even true of the $10,000 high end multi-function devices ) . The ScanSnap is like the porridge in the Goldilocks fable : it's just right . Install the software , then plug it in and hook it to the computer . Configure it and then load a stack of paper . Try putting a letter in upside down and see what happens ( it will auto rotate it to the proper orientation ) . It will straighten pages that you load crooked , and it will scan the front and back of pages at the same time . But it will toss out the back pages if they're blank . It can scan in color or black & white . You can run OCR ( optical character recognition ) so that the document will be text-searchable ( I don't do this because it takes a little extra time and generally isn't worth it , but you can do it easily if you want ) . If you get this and want more room on your desk then get rid of your fax machine and get a low-cost web based fax service like [ . . . ] which lets you send and receive faxes by email . You've got the Scanner and I presume you have an email account . What are you waiting for ? The paperless revolution awaits you , and all you need to make the first step is this Scanner .
      • 019 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I upgraded to the Scansnap S1500 from an old HP ADF scanner and the difference is amazing . The unit scans super quickly , nearly silently , and quite well . And for duplex , it is twice as fast , since it scans both sides simultaneously . The experience with duplex scanning is indicative of the difference between my previous sheet fed scanner and this one . With my old unit , I dreaded duplex documents , which involved scanning one side of the page for the whole document , then reversing the whole document and scanning again , and then interweaving the page . Now with the Scansnap , I look forward to duplex documents because it means I get twice the number of pages scanned in the same time . I am a social science grad student digitizing all of the source material for my dissertation . So my experience with this scanner is primarily with B + W text scanning directly to PDF . For this , the scanner is amazing . And needless to say , I am on a tight budget . So believe me when I say that this unit is worth at least twice the price . This is especially so when you factor in shipping costs for moving documents ( ie reams and reams of paper ) from place to place . For grad students , who have a lot of paper , shipping can be a big expense . But perhaps most importantly , here's a tip on cross platform compatibility : Fujitsu sells two models , the S1500 for PC and the S1500M for Mac . HOWEVER , the device itself seems to be cross platform - - and this can be confirmed with a quick google ! While the device is , the software is NOT ; however , the DVD that shipped with my S1500 came with BOTH Mac and PC versions of the Scansnap Manager . This is the basic software used to control the scanner . As a result , I am running my S1500 ( which is sold as PC only ) on a Mac . The only difference between the S1500 and S1500M ( and this may be big if you do not already have a version of Acrobat Professional ) is that the included Acrobat Professional disc is EITHER Mac or PC , not both , depending on the scanner version you purchase . SO . . . if you want to use this scanner in a cross platform environment , you can . However , you must choose which version of Acrobat you want - - PC or Mac . ( It is important to note that PDF authoring software is important to have if you want to get the most out of this scanner . While it will produce PDFs without it , authoring software is necessary to manipulate the PDFs you create - - to rotate pages , combine or divide documents , etc . ) Let me be clear that I only know for sure that the S1500 comes with both Mac and PC Scansnap Manager software . I assume the S1500M does as well , although I do not know for certain . Also of interest is that the scanner works under Ubuntu GNU / Linux using SANE drivers and gscan2pdf . However , in my experience the scanner controls are not as complete under SANE and gscan2pdf as with Fujitsu's proprietary drivers on a MAC and PC . Other seem to have had better experiences than I . Ultimately , Linux users should know that it is possible to use this scanner ; however , it may take some tweaking . But if you use Linux , you are most likely used to this .

      • 023 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased the Fujitsu SnapScan S1500 during Christmas 2009 .

      • 025 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) So far the scanner is exactly what I needed and it works great . My beef is with Amazon and how it is selling the scanner . There are two options - the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC and the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Instant PDF Sheet Fed Scanner . Amazon however puts the same reviews on both products and does not mention there are two ways of ordering the same scanner . The primary difference is with the Deluxe Bundle you get the Rack2 - Filer software . For the other you do not . Yet the reviews for the non-deluxe version mention the Rack2 - Filer software and Amazon also indicates those reviews are for the non-deluxe package - which they cannot . Basically a bait & switch on Amazon's part . In Amazon's defense they did refund the original scanner order and allow me to order the deluxe bundle but that method required me to spend the time & $ repackaging , taking the box to the UPS Store , gas , etc . I had asked for Amazon to just allow me to pay the difference and ship me the Rack2 - Filer SW but their policy does not allow for that . So much for the customer focus hype Amazon likes to flood the media with .

      • 027 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I am overall very pleased with the scanner . It was purchased 22 March 2010 and arrived a few days later . I was a bit worried since the $420 price is a substantial investment , but so far it has been well worth the money . About 5000 sheets have been scanned in simplex and duplex modes . Simplex - one page , Duplex - both sides of a sheet of paper are scanned with one pass through , resulting in two pages saved per sheet . The automatic paper feed hopper max sheet width is 8 and 5 / 8 inches so if wider sheets are to be copied they would need to be split into narrow segments fed separately or reduced on a conventional paper copier and the reduced page scanned . Not sure how long a page ( greater than 11 inches ) can be scanned , I haven't tried . I am satisfied with scanner speed . I was a bit worried initially about the ability of the scanner , any scanner for that matter , to deal with paper of various thicknesses and texture , defects on the border , tears , tendency for the report pages to be less than flat ( take on a wave shape horizontally for example ) . The scanner was able to handle such physical anomalies well . A staple or two left on a page ( though not connecting multiple pages ) passed through ok . Scotch tape didn't bother it . If a page had taped or glued on paper , such as for a type over ( old documents ) the scanner would occasionally see that as a multi-page feed and stop with a message . Often it was just necessary to direct the scanner to proceed on , while other less frequent times it had to be handled as a jam . Some few types of paper ( likely having to do with surface properties ) , had a tendency to cause more than one sheet to pass through leading to a scanner stop and jam indication . First remedy is to remove the report , insert the first page holding back on the rest , and after the first page starts let go of or insert the rest before the first page finishes passing through . This quite frequently works . There were some types of very old ( 60 ' s - 80 ' s ) paper that had to be fed by hand . Fortunately I haven't much of that . I was surprised that very thin paper went through so well . The automatic feed hopper holds around 50 or so pages . Really thick ( 3 inch for example ) documents can be scanned by placing additional sheets , maybe 20 or so at a time , in the hopper as it empties but before the last prior sheet passes through . If that ( the last page gets through before additional paper is placed in the hopper ) happens the provided software can be used to merge several files into one to reconstruct the document . So far the scanner has caught all two or more sheet concurrent passage so I haven't had to worry about pages appearing to have been scanned when they were not . The software is a bit awkward to use for some tasks , though I haven't bothered to read up on how to use the ScanSnap software nor the Adobe Acrobat software . Sometimes when thin paper is scanned in duplex mode the blank back side is saved because the written side is seen through the paper . This can be remedied by scanning in simplex mode if all the pages are blank on the back side . The process for switching from simplex to duplex mode , so far as I know , is a bit cumbersome . One has to bring up the ScanSnap Organizer menu , click no that you don't want to change the PDF automatic conversion settings , click on the top left folder icon , click on scan button settings , and then choose simplex or duplex . The Adobe Acrobat software provided with the scanner can be used to delete or insert a scanned page or sequence of pages . The software that makes the scanned report searchable works well . The process orients most pages that read up and down so they can be read horizontally . I found this software usable though I currently think some functions are also a bit awkward to use . The software can be used to rotate pages manually and has many other functions that I haven't used . Sometimes I have trouble getting a whole file of scanned documents to be converted to searchable form one after the other without manual intervention . The Adobe software for some reason hangs . If that happens I copy the files to a ScanSnap folder and then initiate character recognition and so far that has worked just fine . The conversion process takes time so I save a set of scanned documents and have them converted while on a break . I have used the black and white mode at 300 dpi exclusively . It handles colored paper well . The text typed on yellow paper comes through clear as a bell , for example . Not sure about other colors .

      • 029 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I really like the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 . I have owned two of them . However , I am forced to give this a one star because I have now paid Fujitsu over $800 and I don't have a scanner . What happened ? Well , I bought my first S1500 about a year ago . Absolutely loved it . I could scan anything from legal documents to photographs . Literally everything with the push of a button . And it was converted into a . pdf in a snap . Scannnn . . . SNAP . It was that easy ! At 50 ppm , I scanned hundreds of pages in a matter of minutes . I loved it . Until it died . Just stopped working . Frustrated , I checked the warranty and it had just expired ! Darn the luck ! So I shelled out another $400 + and bought a second one this last November . My wife had a pile of professional paperwork stacking up and I was frustrated at doing one page at a time in our old scanner . I counted down the days ' till I got my new ScanSnap . What a great day it was ! Once again , I was back to scanning . . . professional paperwork , documents , even things that I just wanted to digitize and archive , like birth certificates and old phone numbers . I was scanning like a madman ! Until tonight . Four months after I opened the box , I am sitting next to yet another dead ScanSnap . Luckily , this one lasted less time than the first , so I think it might still be under warranty . Maybe . But why should I be worrying about that with only a four month old piece of equipment ? That I cannot tell you , but it's true . This is probably one of the greatest scanners ever . . . but I'm not sure if I can bear to own another . Update . . .23 March 2010 . . . I called customer service ( even before the reply to my post was posted ) and within minutes , I was talking to a human customer service representative . I explained the problem to him , and he told me it sounded like a bad power supply . No problem , he took my address and said he'd have one in the mail the next day . Sure enough , not a week later and I had a new power supply ! And the scanner works great again ! Very happy with it . The only reason it isn't five stars is because this is apparently a rather common problem . Fujitsu will fix it for you ( new cord and power supply ) but it does make you go through the process of calling them and getting a new cord sent out . I hope this one lasts as I plan on using my machine for a long time to come .

      • 031 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I bought one scanner for my office in July it worked so well that I bought another one the next month .
      • 034 4  I just recently purchased the Fujitsu ScanSnam S1500 and I LOVE this thing ! It was very easy to set up , doesn't take up a lot of deskspace , and the best thing about it is that it will upload scans to my MSFT Share Point database and will also scan business cards and put the information in my Outlook contacts for me . I can also just scan and directly email too . It scans very quickly as well . The only negative is , like other reviewers have said before , if you have anything on the back of your page , it will scan it along with the front , if it perceives it not being blank . Other than that small thing , this is a winner !
      • 035 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased this scanner after reading many positive reviews . Even with my expectations set high , the scanner exceeded all my expectations . The scanner design is nothing short of slick and innovative . The ingoing and outgoing paper trays fold over each other and use magnets to hold them in place . When folded , the scanner has an extremely compact footprint and keeps dust from piling up . The installation was very straightforward . You first install the software and then plug in the scanner . ( I chose not to install the ScanSnap Organizer and I use windows directories instead . ) The ScanSnap Manager works extremely well . You load your documents into the feeder , press the Scan button on the scanner and the magic begins . The pages zoom through the scanner , the software prompts where and how you want to save the scan , and when they say 20 pages ( both sides ! ) in one minute , they are not exaggerating . The business card software works very well . You fire up the software , load in your cards , hit Scan ( I found that more than 10 - 15 were too many at one time ) and the cards scan . The ocr then pulls the data into the correct fields . The card ocr is not foolproof and all cards should be viewed to ensure the info is correct , as businesses cards - especially specialty ones - don't always convert properly . The scanner automatically removes blank pages , which is a necessity when scanning in one-sided documents . It also cleverly rotates the scanned image if it was fed lopsided or if it was scanned upside down . If there is one word to describe this scanner , it is Smart . While $425 may be pricey for home use , any businesses that wants to go paperless will find that this pays for itself over and over . We spent one day scanning and shredding our file cabinet . What amazes me most is that the scanner is considerably faster than our shredder ! This is the first review I ever wrote on Amazon.com but I was so impressed that I was inspired to write one . As you can tell , I'm a big fan of this scanner !

      • 037 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I accidentally found this product by studying the Amazon location for a competitor's product . I noticed that other people who had visited the site I was at had bought this Fujitsu scanner instead and had rated it highly , so I checked it out . Am I ever glad I did . After reading a number of reviews , I decided to purchase it . I liked it so well , that within a few days , I also bought the Apple version for my wife . I have been wishing for years that I had the capability to create a pdf file from an original document and email it to someone else . Other people I knew who had this capability obtained it via high-end copiers that cost at least hundreds of dollars per month to rent . I did not want it that badly , so made copies of such documents and then transmitted them through the regular mail . The capability I obtained with this product is infinitely better than mailing xerox copies . Also , it allows me to do several things using the included full version of Acrobat 9 software that are really useful . For example , I recently made multiple pdf files of different items ( an insurance application , some data that had to be sent in with it , and a check for the first month's premium ) , and then combined them into a single new pdf file . For another example , I can take many other types of files ( an Excel file , for instance ) and turn them into pdf files with a single command . This makes it possible to , for example , email an Excel spreadsheet to someone who would not be able to open it , because they do not have the Excel program on their computer . Virtually everyone has the capability to open a pdf file .
      • 039 4  I needed a portable , super-high quality scanner for our tax / bookkeeping business and digitizing my home records . After about a month of research , I chose the ScanSnap . It's an investment-type price , but it's worth it . Everything you need comes in the box , and the install is very easy / fast - I've got it installed on both of my desktops and my laptop . I go to client's homes and scan in multiple years ' worth of receipts , check carbon copies , invoices , and other tax documents at a time . The ScanSnap is small enough to carry with me or leave on my desk ( the footprint is about the size of a half-sheet of legal paper ) since it folds up so nicely . It's super fast , and the color and B / W scans come out incredibly clear - even wrinkled , faded receipts come out clear and readable . Since it scans both sides of the page , it cuts the time in half . The organizer is pretty good so far , I'm still learning the software . Overall , I couldn't be happier with this machine . * * I would recommend buying the carrying case and some extra carrier sheets , they're really convenient to have when you have super wrinkled , or oddly shaped papers . * * Others have complained about jamming issues , but the only time I've had a jam is when I first started using it and I put too many receipts in at one time - it grabbed multiples at once . If you feed them one after another , ( its easy to do ) or just use a carrier sheet , this doesn't happen . Just pay attention while you're scanning , and use common sense , you'll be fine . I scan for several hours at a time without a break , and have had no problems . I love this thing , and HIGHLY recommend it .
      • 042 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased this scanner after reading reviews on Amazon to replace a Neat Desk scanner piece of junk I had first purchased . The Neat Desk scanner purchase ( purchased via Pricegrabber ) ended up costing me $100 after restocking and round-trip shipping . The Fujitsu has worked like a champ . My only complaint is the additional step when scanning : I have to scan and save the . pdf file and then tie that saved file to the entry in Quicken . I wish I could scan directly to Quicken , but Fujitsu said upfront it is not a TWAIN device . I love the way it folds up to a small desktop footprint and then is recognized by WinXP Pro as soon as you open the top lid . Scanning has been lightning fast and there have been no jams . This scanner is really helping me get rid of the piles of little paper receipts we kept for purchases , warranties , etc . This , plus buying QuickBooks Pro 2010 is going to help me reach my goal of organizing all of our paperwork for our rental properties in 2010 . Don't buy any NeatCo product . I would buy this Fujitsu ScanSnap again .

      • 046 4  GOOD : - fast ( much faster than the Epson GT-S 50 ) - small and light - easy to use - duplex scanning - fairly inexpensive - works with Windows , Macintosh , and Linux - copes pretty well with a variety of paper sizes and thicknesses ( even mixed stacks ) NOT SO GOOD : - bad for scanning photographs - iffy Windows software - only includes either Windows or Macintosh drivers Probably the best scanner for scanning bills and other documents : it's unobtrusive and fast and gets the job done . It's smaller and faster than the Epson GT-S 50 , but its document feeder capacity is smaller and it is poor at scanning photographs .
      • 047 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Was using a multifunction scanner and wasn't getting very good quality . This Scanner performs well and meets all my expectations . An excellent choice for a small office looking to go paperless .
      • 049 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Yep , I'm in the market for another one because the 1st was stolen ! It scans quite well , it's a little bit sexier than the S510 , it comes with acrobat 9 , and it's really just the worthy older brother to the S510 . Kudos to Fujitsu .
      • 052 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) We ordered this to scan filing cabinets full of business documents ( a long road ahead of us ! ) but so far it is great - easy to use , very compact and looks great and is fast . However , do not do as I did and buy the USB cables . I couldn't find anywhere that they were included in the box ( they ARE ) and so I did the frequently bought together thing - wasn't a great deal of money extra ( $6.00 ) but it was something I didn't need to do . Figured this was like printers in which the printer cable doesn't come with the unit . . . But overall , very happy with this choice . Will update the review after using it for a longer period of time and if we find that there are issues . . . Oh , one thing I have noted - you can choose to do duplex print or not and the nice thing is that it is smart enough to know that if one of the documents is blank on the back side , it won't scan it as a blank sheet . * However * I have found that if the paper is thin and the print on the front side shows through to the back , the scanner will scan this .
      • 054 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I have held off from buying scanners for years . I knew I had a big case coming up wherein I would be scanning literally 100 ' s of sheets of paper . . . applications , approvals , proofs and so forth . . . I began looking for a scanner that would do this effortlessly and began reading all about scanners . . . canons , HP's , epsons and on and on . I saw a very expensive Fujitsu in a friends office that was scanning about as quick as he could shove stuff through it . I knew that was the feature I needed . . . so I began reading about Fujitsu . Well , the scanner he had cost about 1800 bucks , but the S1500 cost 400 bucks and seemed to do most of the same things the more expensive one did . In any event , it sure beat the pants off the one-page-at-a-time desktops that I automatically have with my HP printers . So , I ordered the Scansnap 1500 . It arrived from Amazon in about 3 days . I plugged it in , stuck in the software and bingo , it was ready to go . It is about the size of one of those specialty bread loafs sold at the grocery store . . . you know , the 12 multi-grain stuff . It opens with the lifting of 2 flaps . . . the lifting turns it on ( shuts it off when you close the flaps ) . Instant on . will scan 50 sheets . . . when done , it gives you a screen that says save to folder or email . Click on it . If the scanned material is too big for its email memory . . you have to save it to a folder , go into your word documents , and send it from there . I have high speed phone lines . All 50 pages zip right through . . . and saves the sent email in your Outlook so you have a nice proof . In the past 25 days ( which is about as long as I have had it ) I have scanned maybe 500 to 600 pages . some as big as 50 pages , and some as small as 2 . It has not failed once . For the average small Businessman ( real estate , insurance , accounting , mfg . rep . ) , I can't see that 400 bucks is too large of an investment into something that demonstrates this much quality . And it does color too . I did try a couple of photos . . Not being a bit photo buff , they looked fine to me , but I could tell that they were not 100% quality reproductions , so I think that a slower scanner might be better for photos . . . but , if you were scanning some pix to send to grandma or a photo of a building that you were working on for a client , it would be just fine . I give this a 100% satisfaction rating .

I had actually gone on-line to purchase a Neat brand scanner with the software to import to Quicken . Thankfully I read all the reviews and the Neat did not get very good ratings in scanning and a lot of negative on the software . Even with the complaints , it did not seem to get fixed . Once I realized that import to Quicken was not going to happen , I just needed to fine a good scanner . Enter the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 . With out exception , almost all the reviews were good , so I purchased . I must say the reviews are correct . It is easy to install , fast to scan , and the software is good to archive and file all documents . I will still manually have to enter stuff in Quickbooks , but I have basically gone paperless for records . The REAL Value for me came when I realized I got roughtly $300 worth of Adobe 9 PDF software with the scanner . I was set to purchase the Adobe software , so I figure the scanner cost me about $125 . Great value , great scanner .

      • 058 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I'm a lawyer and I have been , for all intents and purposes , paperless for about 10 years .
      • 060 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This is not a technical review , but a practical one .
      • 063 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I owned the predecessor to this scanner and I just loved it . Unfortunately my office was burglarized and so I had to replace the scanner . This model was out so I bought it , and it is as good as ever . I lover the automatic duplex scanning , the auto color detection and the great software ( Adobe Acrobat 9 ) that comes with it . I use the scanner all the time in my law practice , and just bought another one . When meeting with a client , often I just stick their papers in the scanner on my desk and before my client leaves I already have copies of everything . We no longer use fax machines . . . . we just scan the documents to be faxed and then use Internet faxing . Easy , no fax machine to upkeep , and I always have copies of my faxes . I cannot say enough about this scanner . I just love it . It is a solid piece of technology and is worth every penny .
      • 066 4  The recently purchased fujitsu 1500 Scanner is our best investment yet . It's fast , flexible and has a very small footprint ! The accompanying software is easy to install and easy to use . The recommendation came from last months PC Computing magazine and was a terrific article . Thanks to PC Mag and Amazon for a great product !
      • 068 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I use an S510 at home , and got this S1500 for the office . Even with long experience with this line of scanners , I was delighted with this unit . It's very fast , and I like that the software lets me name the file after it has been scanned , something the S510 software did not ( on the Mac at least ) . It handles jammed pages well , and is remarkably good at handling mixed page sizes in a single batch , as well as detecting when it has accidentally drawn more than one page into the scanning channel at a time . It would be nice if the software would allow me to set up more than one common saved files location . This is a nitpick , though . It's a great package and allowed me to clear my desk in a flash .

      • 073 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Here is a good test . I bought this for my wife's office and they were able to unpack , hook up and use without one call to me .
      • 075 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This is a great scanner for scanning into adobe . It is very easy to install . However , it installs several peices of software that as a business we didn't need . It is very compact and fast when it scans . we love the automatic duplex and blank page removal . The Scansnap manager is a little confusing and not self explanatory . Once you get it set right , though it works perfectly . Once issue we tend to have is the scanner will not work and will set and blink at you after you have pressed the scan button . The only fix that I have found is to unplug the power and the USB cord for a few seconds and then replug . The PC will detect the scanner again and it will start working . A few times we have had to do this and reboot the PC but very few times . All-in-all , it is a good scanner at a low price !
      • 078 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I wanted a scanner but didn't want to spend the money so I dithered for months , reading reviews and trying to decide .
      • 080 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I have had this scanner now for more than a month . My reason for ordering it was to go paperless in my business , and also to have the ability to scan documents into PDF format . I can say that setting up the folders for all facets of my business digital filing cabinet was a snap ( no pun intended ) . Scanning in receipts , invoices , and historical items ( e.g . older checking account statements and cancelled checks , etc . ) , was a pleasure to do . The software included with the scanner is Fujitsu ScanSnap Manager and Organizer , and it is a pretty basic yet flexible and well thought out application . I did not feel as if I were in a huge learning curve to use the scanner or the software , however , I do feel that the software could be a little more intuitive . Granted , this is not a TWAIN scanner , and does not scan directly into any given application , therefore , I give the software package four stars . One thing I do have to say about installation is that loading the software package into my Win-XP machine was quick and effortless ; I was up and running within a half-hour . One thing I have noted with many applications is that they are bloated and take forever to install and ultimately use . Not so with this package and scanner ; everything works quickly and seamlessly , and as of this writing , the software and scanner have never missed a beat ! The software package also includes Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Edition , which carries a standalone price of at least $259.00 ( if ordered from Amazon ) . The ability to create PDF documents , and scan business documents into PDF files is priceless in practically any business , and I feel that the price of this scanner , along with all the capabilities and possibilities are all definitely worth every penny . My business is primarily focused on document preparation for clients , and having the ability to scan documents in from paper is short of revolutionary for me . If you have very large documents ( as I oft-times do ) , you can scan them in , in multiple PDF files , then merge them with Adobe Acrobat , to share via email with the authors , editors and contributors . This is extremely useful , and has streamlined a great part of my business and increased productivity . In short , I heartily recommend this scanner for its quality , for the software , for the ease of setting up and use , and for it's footprint in my work area . When folded up and not in use , the scanner takes up a little more room than a large artisan-style loaf of bread . One more recommendation is purchasing it through Amazon . I shopped around , both online and in local stores , and found that Amazon definitely had the best price . Shipping was Amazon's usual swift and competent best .

      • 082 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) First , let me say this is the best scanner I've owned ( and I've owned a lot ) . It is very fast and has very high quality scans . I scan all my papers at home . Including the manuals on all my electronics / appliances / etc . I used to let these pile up because scanning them was sucb a chore . Not now , as I get them , I just pop them in the feed tray , press the button , and choose scan to folder . This thing is great . However , because it doesn't come with TWAIN Drivers , it doesn't easily work with any of the software I have ( like PaperPort , OmniPage , etc . ) So I have to do more steps to get my scans into these apps . Even so , I still highly recommend this scanner .
      • 084 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I've had this ScanSnap scanner for over 6 months now , and I completely love it . I had read other customer reviews and noted that it jams every so often . But this was the first scanner I bought for home , with the purpose of making my home paperless . I bought a high-end Fujitsu from Dell for almost $1000 for my business . Between the 2 , I think this ScanSnap S1500 is better in price , better in quality and better in features . With this , I can scan business cards , I can scan practically anything . And , although it jams , it still doesn't jam as OFTEN as the high-end Fujitsu , which probably can scan business cards , but don't organize it the same was as the ScanSnap . The high-end Fujitsu also doesn't have the option to skip the blank pages , so I have to manually delete the blank pages when I scan at work . I recommend the ScanSnap HIGHLY !
      • 086 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I would have given this five stars if not for the fact that when a document is more than about 7 pages it tends to get jumbled up in the output tray . The machine is wonderfully fast and the scans are clear . The software bundled with the machine is somewhat confusing and there is no documentation supplied saying what each application program is for .
      • 088 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This little scanner saves me 20 - 30 minutes every day vs . using a fax machine . Very simple to use - one button on the machine and a simple pop-up menu . LOVE IT ! ! !
      • 090 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I found this scanner through the web . Great duplex scanner . I bought a second . Great quality scans . Includes Acrobat 9 Standard , which makes the price of the scanner a good value .
      • 092 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Wow scanners have come a long way . 5 stars .
      • 094 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) We started out with one of these fantastic little scanners and have now added 3 more . We use them to scan documents and nothing that we have ever used works better . Recently we added one to scan photographs of homes that we insure and although the type and quality of the photographs varies from good to poor , this scanner allows us to scan them into an electronic file and the result is a scanned photo that is just as good as the original . Due to the differing size and type of pictures we do them one at a time . For documents , however we are able to put a small stack into the scanner and the automatic feed pulls them though with the press of a button . The software that comes with the scanner enables duplex scanning of documents into file storage or conversion into MS Office programs with ease . The OCR works well also This is one of the best , easy to use and inexpensive ( for the work it does ) small desktop scanners on the market . We love them and will be buying more as the need arises .
      • 096 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased the ScanSnap to make scanning business documents easier for my customers to read and reduce the hassle of faxing . I had an All In One Printer and was scanning each sheet individually ; it was slow and cumbersome to use . The ScanSnap is so much better it is hard to describe : faster scanning , saves to the computer faster and does both sides of a page automatically . In addition , it takes up a small foot print , it was simple to set up and has good customization software for scanning typical documents ( invoices , bills , business licenses , etc . ) and , did I mention , it does all of this fast ! I plan on purchasing another to begin archiving old documents that we are required to keep for 10 years . I highly recommend this product .

      • 098 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Software : very intuitive , very easy to use , very attractive interface , broad ( but not overwhelming ) scope of capabilities . Hardware : compact , sleek , attractive . My satisifaction after a day of scanning everything I can find : I am exceedingly satisfied . I read , researched and investigated doc scanners for roughly 5 months before I pulled the trigger . I looked at videos on youtube , visited stores , read reviews and the like . My scanning needs include all the personal documents , receipts , and business cards . I think if one can afford the added expense , the s1500 is the way to go for a home office . I had a difficult time deciding between it and the s1300 . I'm glad I went with the s1500 .

      • 100 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) We have had six of these scanners in use in a busy office and warehouse environment for more than six months , and they have performed great . The speed is phenomenal - - really just a second or two to scan a double-sided page perfectly . Highlights : very fast reliable paper feed for 25 + pages at a time reliably feeds paper of all kinds / sizes incredibly small desktop footprint very good scan quality Some things to be aware of : This model is actually cross-platform : it works with both Windows and Mac OS X . Fujitsu sells two different models , specific to Mac and Windows - - the only difference between the two is the software that ships with it ( and the color of the unit ) . So , you can use it in a mixed-platform office or home . If you're scanning mixed paper sizes in a single batch , you may need to adjust the scanner's settings for auto page size detection . Some reviewers mentioned problems with mixed paper sizes ; from what they wrote , it sounds like they didn't have the software settings correct . Creating a . pdf file takes just a second or three ( depending on the speed of your computer ) - - but , creating a * searchable * . pdf file will take longer . That is , if you want the software to detect and recognize text and create a . pdf you can be found by searching for text that is in the contents of the file ( not the file name ) , it takes longer . Each page is processed by OCR software ; the speed will depend very much on the speed of your computer . I don't think there's anything out there that will do this faster than these little Fujitsu gems , but it's something to consider if you're planning to go paperless . This scanner is has no ISIS or TWAIN drivers ; you cannot use it from within another application . You have to use the software that comes with it to do the scanning . For most people this is no problem , but again , something to be aware of for those who need ISIS or TWAIN functionality .
      • 102 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I had looked at this scanner or one of its cousins several years ago . Around the time that neat desk product came out . I had a neat receipts scanner in the past that had very clunky software and I was hesitant to by anymore of their products . I began to investigate the Scansnap line , and saw thousands ( I did not read them all : ) ) of reviews on all different sites saying how amazing the product is . They are right . We run a property management company and had begun a paperless switch over about 3 years ago with an HP multi print-copy-scan-fax machine . . . network scan and errors were a contstant hang up . With the scan snap it would have been a reality within 30 days to scan what we needed and continue to scan incoming documents . We wasted so much time , and we all know time = money . The only thing I noticed , and I did not give enough time to read all the instructions was the business card scanner . . . . one at a time no problem . . . a stack consistently got jammed . Other than that we have literally scanned thousands of documents in the last 30 days without issue . The software is great too . You can easily scan a stack of different types of documents and then drag and drop for document separation or insert other scan documents into another document . This scanner can convert scans through OCR ( optical character recognition ) into editable formats like word . . . . overall just an amazing product . . . look at youtube videos to see it in action . I am a real person and I have no affiliation with this company or product . .
      • 104 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Great scanner , February 6 , 2010 I was suffering over how get rid of old files . I had no idea how to best scan the files and disgard them . I test drove a friend's Scansnap before purchasing mine . It is everything I could ask for . It scans fast , it recognizes if it is a one sided or two sided document ( and discards the blank page automatically with no lost time ) , and is easy to sort , name and move files . I would suggest the use of PaperPort to facilitate the movement and sorting of scanned documents . I recommend this product . In an earlier review someone complained of yellow streaks on the copies . That happened to me too . However it was caused by dust on the scanning element early on . I dusted this off a few times and it never happened again and I have scanned thousands of pages .

      • 106 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I had done a considerable amount of research on scanners and hands on operation of other models prior to the purchase of the ScanSnap S1500 . The S1500 was easy to setup and was up and running in about 15 minutes . The S1500 offered me the ease of use , duplex scanning , color scanning , speed , and simple filing that other models couldn't offer for the price .
      • 108 4  My old Microtek 5950 sheet feeder died so I decided to do some research and find a better document scanner . The SnapSCan 1500 received very positive reviews so I looked at it further . Two CCD sensors means you can scan BOTH sides of the page at one time which is a wonderful time saver . Good software means more productive use of time . I ordered and received the scanner late Friday so I had the weekend to test it . I threw all kinds of documents at it : photos , two-sided printouts , magazine pages , printouts on colored paper , checks , receipts , business cards and more . It performed very well , gobbling up the pages , speedily scanning them to PDF for archiving . It is fast and accurate . If it has a misfeed ( oops , forgot to remove a staple ) it will pause and ask you what steps to take : start over , continue or cancel . It is small so it does not take up much desk space . While pricey , I feel it more than pays for itself in the time saved . I highly recommend this scanner to anyone who desires a well made and easy to use document scanner .
      • 109 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Open the lid , put the document in the feeder and press the button . Scanned documents pop up as PDF . Type in the name you want to save it as and click SAVE . Just can't get easier . Most documents scanned come out great . Does not seem to scan photos well . Everyone in our office has one on their desks . Quite compact so does not take much desk space and saves us lots of storage space . Great to scan receipts etc . too - since they fade with time .
      • 111 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I just bought this scanner for my office after using the scanner in an older 3 - in - 1 machine .
      • 113 4  I have to admit - I like cool-looking gadgets . And when I say the glowing reviews for the Scan Snap , I was hesitant because I really wanted to get one of the snazzy looking HPs . But I have to say , the pics of the Scan Snap don't do it justice . It is very slick looking . Much smaller footprint than the HP scanners . It's got this cool 80 ' s japanese high-tech look to it . Okay , now that's the superficial bit . The scanner functionality rocks . As others have mentioned , it scans at a blindingly fast speed . I use it with Evernote , and the files just get created automatically within Evernote . Very slick . The form factor is especially conducive to scanning business cards . You can adjust the paper guide on top all the way down to business card size , and the cards just pop through . The ONLY downside of this scanner is that because there's no glass plate , it's a little tricky if you have a damaged or otherwise rinkled piece of paper . I'm also not sure how the feeder will work with my receipts .
      • 114 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) We bought this scanner for our very small accounting firm .
      • 116 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Gone are my piles of papers . No more waiting for a block of time to do my scanning . The paper comes in , into the Scan Snap it goes and it's done . I L-O-V-E this product and can't recommend it highly enough . My only piece of advice to future software installers is NOT to install the product to your Program Files folder ; I didn't notice that fine print and now I have to run the program as an Administrator in Windows ( which is easy enough , but a chore ) . Three thumbs up for this product all around .

      • 119 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) So everyone that owns one of these raves about how wonderful it is . People describe it as being a game-changer like the iPhone is for cell phones . And it is . It is that good . So small , so fast , sucks in pages quickly and turns them into great pdf files that are easily managed ( saved into a file or email or other options ) . This is great for an office that wants to go paperless or needs to transmit signatures with better clarity than a fax machine ( e.g . real estate documents ) . I rate this scanner 5 stars despite 2 small demerits : First , even on the highest compression some files are bigger than I'd prefer . Often times I just want to save an archived version of a document so I don't have to put the paper version in storage or I might want to email a longer document . The file sizes are progressively smaller with higher compression but I'd like a higher maximum . Second nitpick is that the OCR isn't the greatest . It's free , so I shouldn't complain and it's works better with higher resolution , but often it has a large number of mistakes which makes the conversion to searchable ODF less valuable . It would be nice if the OCR feature used some type of spelling database so it could guess between similar looking characters based on which would make a word and which produces gibberish . Again , I'm very happy with the scanner and wish I would have bought one earlier .
      • 121 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I have been looking for a scanner for a long time now . I inquired about adding a scanning feature to my high-speed high volume printer and found the cost to be almost what I paid for the printer itself . All of the other standalone scanners had negatives . This product has exceeded all of the favorable writeups that I had previously read . As a law firm entering into the electronic filing age is more and more essential that documents be scanned into electronic files . The ease in which this machine scans the documents into my case management system is great . I am not very technologically advanced and am pleased to announce that even I am able to scan documents and pictures to my files . If there is any complaint it's that all of the instructions ( in baby talk ) are online . I would highly recommend this product to any one looking for a very reasonably priced machine even though I had never heard of the company who made the product . Much better than the slow and difficult HP machines and Canon machines .

      • 127 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) My wife always puts me in charge of buying new electronic equipment for her office . I would abdicate but she won't let me . This time she wanted a scanner . I read the reviews and it seemed like the Snap Scan S1500 was the best to fit her needs for the money . So far , it has worked great . The set up was easy . There was one glitch in using the correct USB port but that was addressed in the set up and was a quick fix . And another glitch in using there 9.0 Adobe set up disc . I eventually deleted it and went back to my 8.0 and that was fine . My only gripe is , as with most electronic equipment or software , they don't come with user manuals . I haven't had time to go on line to find out if there is a user manual for the Snap Scan and therefore haven't been able to check out all the available ways that the scanner can be used . I do give it a THUMBS UP .

      • 129 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I am an attorney and a sole practitioner with an existing computer network .
      • 131 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I like it .
      • 135 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I researched for months before deciding on this scanner .
      • 137 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) We purchased 7 of these for office staff and they absolutely love them . They are quick and produce a very clear scan of documents . We are very pleased with the product and with the quick delivery even with free ground shipping .
      • 139 4  I like to save all of my receipts , medical notifications etc . but I am terrible at filing them away in an organized manner that I can find them again . Also there are a lot of papers that just get lost or eventually thrown away that would be nice to keep such as a flyer from your favorite ATV park with a map of the area and hours of operation . The ScanSnap S1500 will archive it all for me . I am bad at losing the owner's manual for mowers , power equipment and appliances . I cut these down the spline if needed and scan them to pdf under their own folder . Now when I want to change the oil on the 4 wheeler I can easily open the pdf I made of the owner's manual and see the recommended oil and filter . The ScanSnap is fast and accurate . I converted a couple of documents to searchable format and I was able to find everything within the document I searched for . It converted perfectly . I scanned in a newspaper clipping a business card and an Indianapolis Colts decal and they were perfect . This comes with Adobe Standard which I found out with this software I could save web pages to pdf format . The scanner folds up into a nice little package when not in use . When I want it I open the top which is the document feeder , fold out to the front the document receiver and it automatically turns on and is ready . This ScanSnap is something I will never be without again .

I have hundreds of old dental records that I am currently storing in file boxes . I am in the process of scanning these records onto a portable hard drive . This is an easy and relatively quick process using this scanner . I would recommend this scanner to anyone with a large number of pages to scan .
      • 145 4  The Fujitsu ScanSnap 1500 has delivered as promised . We are preparing 30 - 45 page documents for email in less than two minutes . The agents in my office are actually bragging to clients and customers about our new time saving , easy to operate scanner . The only issue that keeps me from awarding all five stars is an occasional paper feed issue which usually comes from un-stapling a contract and feeding it without fanning the pages . If you need a scanner for a small office application I would highly recommend the ScanSnap 1500 . Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner
      • 147 4  The ScanSnap S1500 is wonderful . I put it together , plugged it in , pushed the scan button , and off it went ! No problems . I scan up to 50 sheets at a time to email to different companies . I scan , save to a folder ( the icon is already there ) , name the folder , compose my email , and attach the file . What could be easier ? I wish I had purchased it sooner .
      • 150 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I love my scan snap . It performs flawlessly with document stacks as high as 25 pages . I have an older scan snap but I couldn't get it to work with Vista . This one works great . It's simple to use , doesn't take up much desk space , is fast and it works . What else can I say ?
      • 153 4  There are many scanners available , but this one , even though more expensive than other models , is worth it if you want to get oprganzied . We use it now to scan bills , invoices and other items that we still get paper copies of in order to have records of payments , charges and pretty much everything esle . If you have a small home office ( or any office ) or otherwise looking to control and manage paperwork , this is a good scanner to have , especially since you can feed more than one sheet at a time .

      • 156 4  While I have not done a gread deal of scanning with the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 as yet , what I have done has been a snap and the unit has workled flawlessly . It is quick , does two-sided scanning and the resolution and clarity are excellent . The unit is small enough to be a good addition as a desktop addition and is very compact and convenient because it takes up very little room . I would recoomend it for any small to mid-sized office operations and it would be absolutely ideal for a home-enviornment .
      • 158 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) You can find much cheaper one with the same speed , and I have 3 other scanners . But this one is very different . It scans fast and both sides in one path . Software also makes a huge difference .
      • 160 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) To give you some idea of what great product this is , I would like to mention that after experimenting with the first one I bought , I ordered a second one so that I now own one for home and one for work . This scanner is smaller and lighter than it might appear in its photos , about the size of a loaf of bread . It has only one button , scan , and it can handle a large fairly messy stack of differently-sized documents , newspaper clippings and so on rested into the auto-feeder chute without a hiccup . It scans quickly and I have only had it jam on me only once or twice since I bought it several months ago and I have used it almost daily . Even if a document gets run through crooked , the scanned image comes out straight . By default it scans in duplex mode ( both sides of any document you feed into it ) and the included Adobe Acrobat software lets you remove pages you decide you don't want after the scan and / or addend pages from other files even if they are of different file formats ( e.g . you can add a multi-page Word document to a multi-page PDF ) . The file management software that it comes with is counter-intuitive at best . I am pretty smart and I can't make heads or tails of most of the functions available in the ScanSnap Organizer . The included electronic manual is almost no help at all and when I experimented on my own , the ScanSnap Organizer software made all these extra little particles worth of strips of parts of the scanned image . . . ? What ? ! So after scanning a document , I just save the document to a well-named folder of my choice on my computer's hard drive and organize all scanned documents , thus , by hand . I do recommend this product . I awarded four stars rather than five for the crummy software . But I've made it work for me quite well and am glad I own it . Definitely worth the price several times over .

      • 162 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This is a great scanner for the money . it does sometimes have difficulty with pulling multiple sheets through with thin paper . Paper that is thin will also scan the backside through the paper . However that also tells me how good the scanner quality it . Great scan and handling quality once I got the software and filing system figured out . would recommend to anyone ! super fast Amazon shipping !

      • 169 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) For years I have used a Xerox flatbed scanner . Which worked fine accept for it was not duplex capable . I purchased this Fujitsu when I a friend of mine raved about it . When I opened the package , I was skeptical due to small and toyish appearance of this thing . But fell in love with it withing 15 minutes and have never looked back since.Speed , quality and jam free operation of this little thing amazes me .
      • 171 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This scanner was easy to install , works fast , duplex scans are simple , and it comes with Adobe Standard , which is nearly worth the cost of the unit .

      • 175 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) After seeing a TV commercial for a competitive product I started investigating on line .
      • 177 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I just wanted to add my own 5 stars . This scanner is super fast , easy to use , and rarely jams . I went through my file cabinet and emptied it ! You can put a stack of receipts in it and it will scan all the different sizes perfectly . Also , it is very compact . I was surprised at how small it is . You can't go wrong with this scanner .

      • 181 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) The Scan Snap has changed for the better many parts of my office activity . It is terrific for scanning documents and immediately emailing them to one or more other people . I find I send fewer faxes . It also is reducing the amount of paper I have to mess with . I was so pleased with the Scan Snap , that I had my company buy one for our accounts payable person and he is thrilled with it .

      • 191 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I love this thing - great scan speed and can send to pdf , word , excel , access , or email with ease . Only down is that fujitsu , for some unknown reason , removed the scan to folder option from the scansnap manager . Since a full version of Acrobat is over $200 alone , this is a very good deal .
      • 193 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This thing scanned so many pages so fast , I was like ' what ? ' It's fast , quality of scans is pretty good . Does both sides at once . Takes time to get stuff together to scan ; takes little time to scan . It's just simple to use and works . If you've got real thin pages with bleed through , you will see that . It's so fast , I was thinking ' how'd it do that so fast ? ' The quality ? Good . How did it do that so fast with that level of quality ? File size ? Small . It's something that just works . After all the headaches and troubleshooting with other equipment over the years , this one is nice to work with .
      • 195 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased a new SnapScan scanner about a month or so ago . I am a realtor and I have a home office as well as an office at the company . I was using my printer at hometo scan and save contracts and paperwork or I would have to drive 15 minutes to scan it at my company office . I spent so much time sitting there waiting for it to scan , process , file . . . etc . I bought the SnapScan scanner and I was amazed at how much time this saved me ! ! ! I absolutely love it . It is so easy to learn and the scans are crystal clear and it is FAST ! I would definitely recommend SnapScan scanner to anyone that scans and files on a regular basis . Also , my order from Amazon.com came before the estimated delivery date . They also had the best price . I will definitely order from Amazon.com again Donna Wall Irving , TX
      • 197 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I bought this scanner for my home office . I have previously purchased two of these scanners for each of two other offices . I have been entirely pleased with the ease of use and quality of images . There is a minor glitch which has been common to all three units : Occasionally the unit will not be recognized by the PC and it requires that you unplug ( there is no on / off switch ) the unit and then restore power . Then it works just fine .

      • 201 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This wonderful scanner takes only a tiny space , and quickly scans with multiple save options , and it does double sided scans , reads business cards and many other perks - - but it's inner workings are very tender and the little plastic parts involved in moving the paper can easily break . Still , it is my favorite desktop accessory and makes my work a snap ! Worth the price .
      • 203 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I was looking for a document scanner and reading a lot of reviews online about which one to buy . This one seemed to get positive feedback and seemed to be a good choice for using with my mac as well . Well , I've been using it for nearly a month now , and it performs even better than I expected ! Blazing fast document scans that convert to high quality pdf's right out of the box . It keeps the file size low and the quality high , so it's just what I need . I've been using it with the mac os x program ' paperless ' and the two work great together . My only complaint I can even come up with would be with the scan utility program it ships with . There is one option called ' scan to file ' or ' scan to folder ' ( I can't remember off hand which one it is ) that doesn't work , it just crashes the program when I click it . . . other than that , it's awesome . Highly recommended .

      • 212 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I first saw the Fujitsu scanner at the auto dealership where I purchased my last vehicle , and was impressed with the size and speed of the canner , and with the apparent ease of use ( although I asn't the person uing it ) . The fact that it had an ADF ( automatic document feeder ) made it much more appropriate than most of the cheap flat-bed scanner . And it also scans both sides of the documents with a single pass through the scanner ! I've not yet used the OCR software , but the scanning software ( to PDF format ) works very well . I also haven't used color scanning heavily , but the few color scans I have done appear to yield great results . Although it's a bit more expensive than the cheap flatbed scanners , I think many users will be happier with the Fujitsu . The size , speed , and duplex scanning features make it an excellent choice .

      • 216 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I own a growing engineering company and alot of paperwork comes through our office and we needed a way to effectively manage . This scanner is just the trick . Performs well - it is fast and now we are able to keep all of our reports saved electronically just as we have submitted to clients / local and state regulatory agencies . Good product . Paid for itself in just a few days as far as time saved making copies or scanning using our multipurpose printers .
      • 219 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) There are very few products that i've been excited to receive , but have still managed to exceed my expectations .

      • 223 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I read all the reviews on Amazon before I purchased this scanner . I installed all the software and then started using the scanner . It is FAST and the files go where I wanted them . the quality of the images is very very good . I am scanning everything now and destroying the paper and saving storage space . Since it scans both sides it is very easy and fast to load the documents and scan them . The only caution is to remove all staples and paper clips . In summary - fast , easy and good quality .
      • 225 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) I purchased the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 approximately five weeks ago . I manage an HR office and had wanted to digitize our filing system for the last few years . We use paper documents for everything and are required to keep history files for three years . Needless to say , our file room was packed . I received the ScanSnap S1500 and was up and running within 5 minutes of opening the box . I have scanned thousands of documents over the last five weeks and the scanner is still going strong . It has proven to be extremely reliable and well worth the money . It is fast and can scan two-sided documents as well as multiple pages easily and with good quality results . I can't wait to complete my current project so I can scan all my personal paperwork at home . I am so pleased with the purchase that I can't recommend this product enough .

The one thing I would like to see is a carrying case for my nomadic lifestyle .

      • 232 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) As a CPA I love this client . I make all my clients buy one as it makes having a paperless ( or at least paper reduced ) office possible . It it great . Every time I scan something it automatically recognized whether or not it is black or white , what the paper size is , and reads both sides of the document at the same time . I can't imagine having a business without one . Especially because it is fast , the files are compressed and I have it set so it automatically opens the document in Adobe where I can they save it to a folder of my choosing ! ! ! Great Buy , plus it comes with the latest edition of Adobe Acrobat which means it basically pays for itself . Again I love it I have one and all my accounting clients have at least one and also can't thank me enough for introducing them to such a wonderful scanner . Goodbye flatbed and all-in-one scanners , and hello fujitsu ! ! !
      • 234 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) have been using the scanner for 1 month and love it .
      • 236 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This is a big step up - - paper feeds more smoothly than it did in my old Scansnap , the scans are sharper , and overall performance is better . I'm not convinced all the doors that open and close are necessary , but they do make it look like a nice neat package when I'm not using it . Recommended .
      • 238 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) This is the only dedicated scanner I have ever purchased so I can't compare it to others .

      • 242 4  This review is from : Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) Won't scan newspaper - it needs to be put in carrier sheet . I like the size and ease of putting scanning in folders . Need to find out whether you can just scan one side of a page or if there is writing on both sides of the page , it will always scan both sides . Is there an option to scan only one side of page ? Guess I better get the manual out : )

It scans rapidly and accurately . I have mowed through a pile of paper . Now I am keeping my pile of papers down to just a couple that I need in front of my face for some reason . I process the mail right away rather than letting it pile up while dreading working my way through it . I am using the scanner on a Windows 7 ( x64 ) machine . The scanner produces searchable PDF's that are readily found in Windows 7 ' s desktop search . I am extremely pleased . I think I mentioned that . This is one of those things that just works .

    • Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC ( Electronics ) What a great Scanner ! I was looking to go paperless since I have a home-office and I just can't deal with all the papers that I need to file any more . The 1st time I saw this scanner was at a client's office . She has a huge Insurance agency and they went paperless using this scanner . Well , I figure that if they used this scanner to scan thausands of files then it should be more than good enough for my 100 or so files that I have . My client told me that she loved the scanner and that she would recomemded it to anyone that wants to go paperless or just want to have a good scanner . Since I am not a tech person at all , I was afraid that it was going to be complicated but to my surprise , it was not . Even I was able to set it up and get it working in no time . This machine it's just great ! ! What I surprised me the most is that have A LOT OF RECEIPTS and I can put 10 or so at a time and this scanner just scan them with no problems and FAST ! ! I love it , it's fast , easy and problem free ( so far ) .

      • 224 4  I read all the reviews on Amazon before I purchased this scanner .

    • Pros - 1 . Speed : This scanner seems blazingly fast . Not a resource hog . Will scan duplex 20 - 25ppm at default settings on Win2K / 1.8mhz / 1gb platform . 2 . Scan quality very good at all settings . 3 . Size and looks : Small desk footprint . Looks great open or closed . 4 . Excellent paper feeding as long as documents are same size and 20 # or greater paper weight . Cons - 1 . NO TWAIN DRIVER . I knew this going in but did not appreciate how much this would cripple the device in day to day use . Let me explain . I had envisioned creating a virtual file cabinet in my computer using Windows Directory / Folder / File system then scanning my paper documents into this system as pdf files . The problem is that the native Fujitsu software does not let you append an existing pdf file ! ! ! As an example take a file for utility bills . D : / Home Expenses / Utilities / Gas_Electric.pdf . You can easily scan in all prior bills ( limited by 50 sheet ADF ) and a pdf with one page for each bill will be created . But if you had more than 50 prior bills or when next months bill comes then the next scan you perform to include these new documents will create a new pdf and does not allow the option of appending this current scan to the existing pdf . As you can see one could easily end up with 1000s of individual pdf documents in your filing system . The work around is to launch Adobe Acrobat ( not reader ) and use it to open the old composite pdf and use Acrobat to append the newly created pdf to the prior file . This work around takes longer than scanning in a 30 page document . Twain based scanners easily work with existing windows file structure and allow you to append an existing pdf without invoking Acrobat . 2 . Paper catch tray very fragile and ADF paper support does not stay up ( also reported by other reviewers ) . 3 . Double feed sensor : stops scan and reports . This is good . However you cannot retrieve the double fed sheet and place it back in proper order because the next sheet is already in the scanner and cannot be backed out . You have to either cancel the scan and start over or put the unread sheet back in out of order and then use Acrobat to rearrange the pages in the resultant pdf document . If you choose to cancel the scan the document that is halfway into the scanner will not be ejected and you need to perform an new scan to retrieve that sheet . 4 . A scanning run will only handle one size document at a time . In my experience if you have a mix of paper sizes you will need to do a scanning run for each paper size . Each run will generate a separate pdf file with you will then need to deal with . 5 . I paid extra for the scanner bundle with Rack2File software thinking it would help me create the filing system I envisioned . After loading and spending several hours with this software I don't understand how it works or what it is supposed to do . I consider the extra $30 dollars I spent for the bundled scanner money poorly spent . 6 . Other minor annoyances are : While the scanner and snapscan software will run on older platforms the bundled software Rack2file and Acrobat require XPpro SP3 or newer . This is not clear from specs . ADF will hold 40 - 50 sheets but output tray will start to jam after 20 - 25 sheets . Documents printed on less than 20 # paper and with printing on both sides the back side printing will show up on the front side scan . Many commercial invoices are printed both sides on thin paper . Cannot set several default scanning profiles . You need to reset the scanner parameters each time you want a different profile . Bottom line : This would be a 5 star low end document scanner if it only offered a twain driver . As it is I can recommend it only to prospective buyers who understand the full implications of this limitation . I thought of returning this scanner and getting one of the twain based models like the Epson GT S50 but at this point I have learned enough of Acrobat to quickly append my pdfs retrospectively . I strongly recommend avoiding the bundled product since I don't see what added value the Rack2File software brings . I considered giving the scanner a one star review just to get people's attention but the hardware is so good 3 stars seems about right .
      • 007 4  I purchased this scanner as a first step in creating an electronic filing system for a home office . As I accumulated 20 filing cabinet drawers of paper documents going paperless seemed to be an answer . Purchase of the Fujitsu S1500 was based on the numerous 5 star reviews . I am reasonably tech literate and have used the scanner for about 2 weeks . Here are my initial impressions : Pros - 1 . Speed : This scanner seems blazingly fast . Not a resource hog . • 021 4  The fujitsu s1500 is close to be a very good product except for a few very significant issues - - manual changing of image quality / color module for some ( or maybe most ) scans lead to reduce image quality ( and not better image quality ) . This is where the scan is more blurry than what it would normally be if the scan was done at auto image quality / color . Additionally , I noticed that one side of the duplex scan is consistently of lesser quality than the other side . For the person who is not serious about their scanning this may not be a terribly big issue . At least - - this is what Fujitsu customer support / technical assistance ardently asserted when dismissing samples / and detailed correspondence from me regarding this issue . Multiple contacts @ fujitsu claimed implied that most users of the their fujitsu scanner s1500 would not notice or take issue with the lack of image quality of manual scans since most users were not likely to use the more advanced options . For anyone who would like to duplicate this issue here are the step : 1 . obtain a document with fine images or detailed text or spreadsheet ( in small font ) on both sides 2 . first scan document with auto image quality and auto color 3 . perform second scan with excellent image quality 4 . compare results from first and second scan For my part , I will try to be doubly sure before I purchase any fujitsu product in the future . Also - - the rack 4 filer application , which comes with the s1500 scanner combo , is not a very sophisticated application and also seems to be more of a headache than a solution .
      • 038 4  I accidentally found this product by studying the Amazon location for a competitor's product .
      • 053 4  We ordered this to scan filing cabinets full of business documents ( a long road ahead of us ! ) but so far it is great - easy to use , very compact and looks great and is fast .
      • 062 4  I am a Realtor and scan alot of paperwork . Another Realtor at my office had a Fujitsu Scanner and invited me to use it . I did and was hooked . It is the most efficient , fastest scanner I have ever used . I bought one for my home office . It is such a time saver . So simple to install and use . It's compact size makes if easy if you wanted to travel with it , especially going by automobile . I can't tell you how much effort and time it saves me . I scan my contract paperwork , attach to an e-mail and send to my customers and fellow Realtors . I don't like the scanners that are in with copiers and faxes ( sooo slow ) . You can scan a stack of paperwork in seconds . What a great product ! Susan
      • 064 4  I owned the predecessor to this scanner and I just loved it .
      • 077 4  This is a great little scanner that offers fast and easy scanning . All you have to do is install the Fujitsu software that comes with the scanner , plug the wires into your USB port , and you are all set . It scans both one-sided ( simplex ) and two-sided ( duplex ) documents with ease . And the quality is great . Now for the bad news . . . if you need advanced features , you wont find it with this scanner because it is not TWAIN compatible . I tried using Adobe Acrobat Professional to scan and manipulate some of my documents , but learned that the scanner only works with the provided Fujitsu software . The scanner will not work with non-Fujitsu software , which is why I give it 4 stars .
      • 083 4  First , let me say this is the best scanner I've owned ( and I've owned a lot ) .
      • 233 4  As a CPA I love this client . ! !
      • 247 4  I am very pleased with this scanner . I have been using it for almost two months now .

    • very fast reliable paper feed for 25 + pages at a time reliably feeds paper of all kinds / sizes incredibly small desktop footprint very good scan quality Some things to be aware of : This model is actually cross-platform : it works with both Windows and Mac OS X .
      • 065 4  We are CPA firm and have 3 Savin Scanner / Copier network machines that cost tens of thousands . I have the Fujitsu in my office , takes up hardly any real estate and is just as capable as our Savin's and to some degree , more capable . It automatically recognizes and scans in color , different scan sizes and both sides at the same time , when applicable . The quality is great . Only jammed once . If I have more than 30 pages to do I will use the Savin's . I do not use the OCR that came with it , I use Adobe 9 professional and that allows all the pdf files to be searchable .
      • 101 4  We have had six of these scanners in use in a busy office and warehouse environment for more than six months , and they have performed great . • 103 4  I had looked at this scanner or one of its cousins several years ago . I am a real person and I have no affiliation with this company or product . .
      • 118 4  If you are in to electronic documents , this is the scanner for you . Direct to pdf and so smooth and effortless to install and setup . Fujitsu scanners are the best . This Scansnap is awesome . Buy the bundle with the extra software . Even the OCR to word is excellent . I've used many scanners , flatbeds , HP Scanners with automatic feed , and none except the old Fujisu Scanpartner that we have in the office can compare . I bought one for home and one for office , and now with the Adobe Acrobat software included , I can scan and type on the documents or scan them to Word and edit them . Small footprint too - really fast , quiet and doesn't hog resources on the PC and the software works as it is designed .
      • 120 4  So everyone that owns one of these raves about how wonderful it is .
