Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3-Cup Automatic Rice Cooker

  • 054 4  This rice cooker was my first . I enjoyed the convenience and the consistenly excellent rice . However , after about 18 months two serious problems emerged . First , it began to burn the rice on the bottom . Apparently its thermostat had gone out of calibration . Second , the bottom of the pot began to show significant pitting . I'm not sure what type of nonstick coating is used here , but I'm certain I don't want to be eating it . Overall , a decent value - - but don't expect it to last beyond how long it did for me .
    • 114 4  I have nothing but great things to say about this little cooker . I use it about once a week and is so simple to use and clean . Just put in the rice and water , hit the switch , and 15 minutes later I have perfect rice . It is very simple to clean and the rice spoon that comes with it works great for getting every grain out and onto my plate . A great buy in my book . . .
    • 164 4  It makes a big mess in the kitchen , spitting water and rice liquids all over the counter . I only tried to make 1 cup but it still just bubbled up and ran all over everything . Its being returned . I gave it two stars becasue it did turn out some cooked rice .

  • 078 4  Our family has owned 4 rice cookers in 30 years and this cooks the best rice of all of them . With only 2 to cook for it's the prefect size , quick and very easy to use . The secret is once the cooker shuts off let the cooked rice sit covered for 15 minutes . GREAT rice every time .
    • 062 4  This little guy is probably a great rice cooker , but IT'S NOT A STEAMER . If you're looking for a rice cooker AND a steamer , you have to buy the larger models . Just letting you know . . .
    • 168 4  i have had no problems with this rice cooker execpt that my wife scrached the bottom and now it sticks a bit in that spot
    • 189 4  The Panasonic SR-G06FG 3.3 Cup Rice Cooker / Steamer is an excellent buy for anyone that wants to cook rice or any other item that can be steamed , e.g . , oat meal . It is quick , effortless , and cleans easily . It is a GREA buy

  • 083 4  We had this delivered to our son in the Air Force and his first reaction on seeing it was that it was too small . After his first use , he hasn't complained ! It feeds our hungry Airman just fine . . .

    • 110 4  I was looking for a rice cooker that wouldn't take up too much counter space or force me to make so much rice that I wasted food and that also made fast , tasty rice . This little cooker does all that . There are no bells and whistles , aside from the no-stick liner . But I cannot say that I've ever used it and wished for any extra thing so I'm not sure what I'm missing . I toss in rice and water , hit the button , and viola , I come back to very nicely cooked rice . We've used it to make many types of rice . I put the lid and scoop in the dishwasher and handwash the nonstick liner . This seems to be preserving the coating because we've used it a lot and still no chips . We are a family of 4 and this cooker is plenty big enough for us . It is especially handy for single servings , though . We have even added chicken and peppers to the raw rice and water and it cooked us up a tasty rice dish with no fuss . I waited to review this cooker until we'd used it for long enough to know I'd gotten my money's worth . I did , for sure . If it broke tonight I'd order another one without hesitation .
      • 076 4  Just like the title says , it works well enough if you don't mind the mess . We know how to use a rice cooker and measure appropriately . It just boils over . Every single time .
      • 116 4  I was reluctant at first to purchase a rice cooker that was so inexpensive , but after reading other reviews , decided to give it a try . Well , to say the least , we are very impressed with this little cooker . The cooker delivers perfect rice each and every time , and aside form the slightly vague instruction sheet , we cannot fault this device at all . Well worth the money and a great addition to the kitchen !
      • 130 4  I'm very happy with the Panasonic rice cooker . It makes perfect rice everytime and the non-stick coating makes for a very easy cleanup .
      • 138 4  The title says it all . Before i bought it , i read a review that said that it overcooks the rice , but since it was one review out of many i figured it was an anomaly . It didn't turn out that way for my rice cooker . I'm disappointed , i buy a lot of panasonic products , now i have to watch the rice and stop it before it burns .
      • 188 4  I'm a nooby when it comes to cooking . I decided that I wanted to start cooking brown rice to help me with a healthy diet . I researched different rice cookers and this one seemed to fit best for me seeing how it was simple to use , well priced , and small . I didn't need a large one because I was just going to cook rice mainly for myself and not family size portions . It works great . Very easy to use . The directions were very simple to follow too . I've used it several times and I have had no problems with it at all . Very easy to clean too .

    • 120 4  This cooker doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles so if you need a timer or a neat little LCD display you'll want to look elsewhere . What it does excel in is making great rice . I bought one for myself for Christmas and I've used it 7 or 8 times so far and each time the rice was excellent . It is the perfect size for one or two people . Clean up couldn't be more easy . For what it cost , I really couldn't ask for more and I've been very satisfied with it .
      • 007 4  Works well for about 2 cups uncooked rice . We especially like the non-stick pan . It does sputter some liquid from the sides if you try to cook more than 2 cups . Overall , very satisfied with this purchase . It compares favorably to other cookers we've owned in the same price range and size .
      • 090 4  I needed a simple rice cooker and I found it . It's not advanced , it doesn't do timed cooking but it works perfectly for all the different kinds of rice I've used so far . I max out the capacity for 2 people and I've made a ton of rice with it since I got it . Great product . Eventually I'm going to want a bigger one and a timed one that keeps it warm and does other stuff but for a starter , this is perfect . One note : I use broth instead of water for most of my rice , if you do that , you might need to add a little more broth than you would with water or it may slightly brown the rice on the bottom of the pot . That's it ! Love the thing ! Great buy .
      • 159 4  I've followed other reviewers ' suggestions regarding rinsing and soaking the rice before cooking , and I am very pleased with the results of this very simple cooker . However , leaving it plugged in for about five minutes after the light went off resulted in a little crusting at the bottom .

    • 126 4  I bought this rice cooker to replace the 9 yr old panasonic rice maker that i handed down to my son . The rice doesn't stick to the pan like my old model . both the old and new panasonic rice makers produce perfect rice .
      • 152 4  Great Product ! ! small and suitable for small family . Steams both rice and vegatables perfectly .
      • 162 4  We love rice and half the time it is perfect and the other half sticky or undercooked . So far perfect rice every time including brown which for me is harder to make .
      • 173 4  Just made our first pot of brown rice with our new rice cooker , it came out perfect ! ! !

    • 131 4  This rice cooker should be fine for a small family . Unfortunately , its small size is its undoing . Rice cooks through and sticks to bottom of pan . As a result , you lose about a portion of the rice as it turns into a crust . There are several uses for this crust if you happen to be making Sizling rice soup or any Persian dishes , but othewise a 6 cup cooker is better for a small family than the 3 cup .
      • 011 4  This rice cooker is the perfect size for a single or couple . You will not have to throw away extra rice . It makes excellent rice in a short amount of time . I would recommend this rice cooker to anyone that has a small family .
      • 112 4  I received my cooker yesterday . The directions on the water to rice ratio are poor . There are no instructions for brown rice . I used the lines on the pot and got half raw rice . Adding more water did not help . There must be some trick to getting good rice . You will end up wasting rice to get it right .
      • 166 4  the size is just right for people eat alone . However the design is poor and old according to the price . The fluid will spill out when cooking . You have to manually take care of it . Not recommend if you have other choice and not so deadly want a small rice cooker .

    • 149 4  Worth the money if you just want to make good rice . Does not have any other features that you may find useful , such as a keep warm setting , vegetable steaming option , etc . I love the easy clean-up and its small size so I can keep it on the counter . So far the non stick surface looks good , I have not seen any of the flaking that others are writing about . The pan in which the rice cooks feels a bit cheap , but it does the job and it does it well .
      • 050 4  It sure beats making rice in a pot . Pour in the rice , pour in the water , and push the start button . It's really that simple . And clean-up was so much easier than I expected . I've only had it a few months but the price was so cheap , if it lasts a year , I'd definitely get another one .
      • 066 4  Though it looks small , I could make rice for 4 in the cooker . The best part is cleaning the cooker is so easy and there is no hole on the lid for steam to escape which usually creates a mess on the lid after the rice is cooked . I simply love it ! ! !
      • 121 4  I got this because I love cooking rice but quickly found you can cook a lot of things in it , quickly and easily . I have experimented with cooking beans , oatmeal , pasta , soup , and even made a quick bread . The thing I love about this appliance is that you can put in the ingredient and leave it alone . This allows you to focus on other things without having to worry about it . Like they say on TV , set it and forget it .
      • 148 4  I wanted a simple small appliance that cooks rice . I got a simple small appliance that cooks rice very nicely . If you want more , buy something else .
      • 150 4  Just put in the rice and the water , put the lid on , click the on button , and you will have perfect rice . It is a great convenience . I am glad my friend told me that she got one . This helps in meal preparation so much .
      • 157 4  It is a good tiny cooker that would do well for the occasional rice eater . It works fine , and is not bulky to store . I bought it for my apartment bound son , flying on his own for the first time .
      • 167 4  Just what I was looking for . I wanted something that could cook rice for just one person and that I could carry with me when I travel . This is a perfect fit . Its easy to clean and compact . It does not burn rice even when I use only half cup raw rice . Very pleased with my purchase .
      • 210 4  I like this , my husband wanted Real Rice , NOT just Minute Rice all the time . And now he will eat rice . With lighter grains of rice it won't shut off automatically . Very easy to use .

    • 155 4  I love rice ! I love rice much more than potatoes ! ! I eat rice several times a week ! Well , when my Asian friend told me my rice would taste better cooked in a rice cooker , I didn't believe him , but he was totally correct . This is a great little rice cooker . Even cheap generic rice tastes great when cooked in this little cooker . It is not big enough for a family , but it is perfect for one or two people . It is easy to use and easy to clean . My rice tastes soooo much better now ! !
      • 040 4  I am thrilled with my purchase of this Rice Cooker . That's all it is . It's also suppose to be a vegetable steamer but it didn't come with the steaming basket . But it could easily be a vegetable steamer . It's easy to use and very easy to clean up after . The rice is basicallly always perfect with very little effort on my part . It's small , perfect or one or two people to have plenty of rice . I do recommend it .
      • 045 4  It cooks rice well , but it doesn't come with a steamer basket , so you can't really use it as a veggie steamer . The description should make that clear . It does spit some water onto the counter when cooking rice , but it's not a major problem . It's a good size for a cooking rice for a couple . The instruction book leaves a lot to be desired .
      • 063 4  Given the price , this is a great product . It's been in daily use for about a month now and no major issues . The teflon is thin , so be sure to avoid metal spoons , etc . when taking the rice out . It has been used to make brown rice exclusively , and it is fast and the rice tastes great .
      • 137 4  I love it ! It makes just enough for one or two servings . It is very easy to use and cleans up well . My husband hates rice so I never used to cook it but I love rice ! So I bought this and now I cook him a tater and I make myself rice ! Thanks Panasoinc !

    • 158 4  This product is advertised as cooker / steamer ; cookeryes-steamer no ! Also i'm pretty leary of the 3.3 cup claim ; I really doubt it's ability to cook that much rice . However , it's ideal for one or two people.I cook one u.s.cup of rice and it's perfect for one or two as a main dish , orfried rice the nextday . The appliance cooks rice perfectly every time i've used it , and I use it 3 = 4 times a week.Great price / size / and cooking capacity for single or couple.I'ts a rice cooker only ! If you want small capacity / perfectly cooked rice / simple clean up this is your product !
      • 059 4  Great product . I have cooked white and brown rice with this steamer with perfect results . The smaller size is just right for our two-person family .
      • 074 4  I had purchased a larger size rice cooker and it was just too big , I threw it away after a year , it took up too much space . This is just right for a family of 3 or 4 , I don't waste the rice when its this size . I use it for a good Japanese pearl rice , or Indian Basmati , or Mixed wild rice , and it is perfect . I highly recommend this one , and would give it as a gift also .

    • 165 4  The cooker is very compact , easy to use , good interior material for cleaning . However , the only flaw is this cooker will make your rice a little bit drier than usual .
      • 036 4  I use this rice cooker to make McCann's Irish Oatmeal every morning . Not only does it make a good bowl of oatmeal , it is very easy to clean . Good buy !

    • 201 4  Great rice cooker if you just want a simple cooker for no more than a few cups of rice . Rice comes out perfect each time ! Because it is so small , it require very little storage space .
      • 097 4  Nice size unit . Works with no problems . It will take me some time to get the actual amount of water required for my preference , but the unit works great .
      • 128 4  Nice little rice cooker for people who like rice , but don't need to make huge quantities of it . Compact and works great .

    • 211 4  Does what it's supposed to - - cooks rice - - while looking cute and neat ! Wish it would keep the rice warm though , like some others . I guess I should've checked before purchasing . But on the whole , very cool ! Comes with little plastic spatula , equally cute , and a measuring cup .
      • 143 4  Great small rice cooker . Cooks the rice to perfection every time , including brown rice ! Wish it had a keep warm option , but for this price , it had the best reviews on amazon.com . Definitely purchase this , it'll make cooking rice so much easier !
      • 209 4  Cooks rice adequately . Expected a steamer basket , but none is included with this model . Product write-up is misleading .

    • Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Fast easy no fuss way to make rice in a snap . The directions are a little Engrish-y . But in a nutshell : Scoop out your desired rice amount say 2 cups ( using the enclosed scoop ) . Rinse the rice a few times in a strainer to get some of the starch out - - help it from making a bubbly mess and I find it makes better sticky rice . 1 . Dump rice in cooker . 2 . Add water to the proper line . Two cups of rice means you add water up to the fill line 2 . And yes you put in the water after the rice is already in there . 3 . Turn on , wait 15 minutes for the cooker to shut off and let the rice sit unmolested for 15 minutes before eating . = perfect rice . The directions also recommend soaking the rice for 30 minutes before turning the cooker on , I never do and the rice turns out perfect . . . let the steam do the work and don't stir or take the lid off while cooking . Super easy clean up since the unit is non-stick . Can't ask for more at the price . I love mine . Update : It's June 2008 and mine is still working great . I now don't even bother to rinse the rice first and I've never had my cooker bubble over . For making brown rice , I add a little more water than normal , say 1 / 4 cup . Update : 2010 , still works great and after running it ( the cooker base insert ) through the dishwasher all these years it has not yet chipped or scratched or flaked . Also found out the cooker works great with Vigo brands pre-packed Red Beans and Rice or Black Beans and Rice 8oz bags . ( 1 packet = fill line #2 of water )
      • 001 4  This is a really great , basic rice cooker . It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the more expensive rice cookers ( no warming feature , no different settings , etc . ) , but it works well for cooking rice , it's compact , and reasonably priced . Prior to buying this one , we had another basic model made by another company that broke . We replaced with an identical one , and it broke as well . After going through two rice cookers , we decided to pay $5 more to get a different brand - this Panasonic . We have had no problems with it , and we also like the non-stick pot . With our old rice cooker , the rice would stick to the bottom of the pot , so we couldn't eat all of it . The Panasonic doesn't have this problem , so we can make smaller quantities of rice without wasting most of it . I have made white rice , brown rice , and quinoa in the rice cooker , and all have turned out well .

      • 006 4  I really enjoyed using this rice cooker to cook brown rice . It also works amazingly well with oatmeal , it automatically adjusts the cooking time to ~ 5 min . I also made Quinoa and Amaranth in it . And was always happy with the results . The cons , the nonstick coating pealed off around the volume markings after less than a year . and you don't want the aluminum to be in contact with your food during cooking . So even though you will be good with just changing the part of the rice cooker that holds the food during cooking , these are hard to find . so I consider the lifespan of the utensil to be under a year . Tip 1 , don't add all the water for the recipe with the rice , that may cause the water to overflow during cooking , instead add the water after the cooker shuts off , it will taste the same . Tip 2 , nutritionally speaking add some legumes to your grains for a better nutritional content for your meal . Thanks for reading my review , adam
      • 015 4  Nice small unit . It makes about two and half cups max . Non stick surface is the best I have seen . It takes about 30 minutes to cook and it comes out perfect everytime .
      • 019 4  This rice cooker has successfully cooked rice , mixed wild and brown , which we have never been able to cook before . It sputters a bit and takes a while , but it works great !
      • 023 4  . . . but only for small quantities . If you put more than 1.5 cups of rice in ( for which you need 3 cups of water , not the 1.5 cups that the directions say ) , the cooker splortles water out the top while cooking . But for 1.5 cups or less , it is fine . It cleans easily , and is quite consistent .
      • 025 4  I have had a National rice cooker for nearly 30 years , having replaced the cord and the top handle . I've cooked literally thousands of batches of rice with my National cooker and only recently did I finally consider replacing it . It used to be very simple to clean , although it did not have a nonstick surface , but eventually it just became too much work to scrub it out . What I was looking for was another rice cooker just like it : a basic unit with absolutely no bells or whistles and no pretense of being an all-purpose appliance that could steam vegetables or keep food warm . Just cook the rice , please . The little Panasonic rice cooker is exactly like my old National , only better . The see-through top is entertaining ; the old unit had an aluminum cover . The nonstick pot is great , and cleans up in seconds . It even came with a nifty little plastic rice paddle that is easier to clean than my bamboo version . The cooker does exactly what I want : perfectly prepares a one - or two-person batch of rice while I'm busy cooking the rest of the meal . Add rice , rinse , add water , put pot in cooker , put on lid and push the button . Ten or 15 minutes after the button pops up , the rice is steamed and ready to go . I love it .
      • 033 4  Despite all the other reviews . I will give you my full honest review . I read all the other ones about people complaining how this little thing was NOT that great . I have to differ . This thing does exactly what its suppose to do . I've been using this thing for about 1 month now and its great . Its alot smaller than i had pictured it but it makes just enough rice for a family of 3 . It makes perfect white rice every time . i have not tried any other rice beside the white rice . Never had any spilling of liquid or burnt rice . Overall , as long as you read the correct measurements . everything will turn out perfect everytime ! I would definately purchase this model again .
      • 034 4  makes great rice and steams vegetables nicely . It's a bit messy ( when making sticky rice , the bubbles come out onto the lid ) but it does what it's meant to do . Good deal !
      • 042 4  I purchased this item few months ago and love it . The end results are great . I think I can just turn this on and walk away and not worry about burning anything .
      • 043 4  This is the perfect rice cooker for one to two people . I live in NYC , space is limited but this little guy leaves a very small foot print on the counter and light enough to move into cabinet every day if must . Only thing , I wish it came with a little steam basket but I put my veg . in just as the rice stops cooking and let it sit for about 10 min ( if I have time . Broccoli is perfect , cut carrots thinner and they will be fine too with a little crunch to them ( don't like soggy carrots anyway ) Easy clean up . again wish there was a steam basket or at least one you can buy . Oh well everything else really makes up for it . Cooks white rice perfectly , you have to play with the water with brown rice but I found my perfect water amount and now I make perfect brown rice . Very much recommend this product .
      • 047 4  I love this rice cooker . It is simple , easy to clean ( doesn't stick ) , and makes great rice . I like the fact that I can make a small amount at a time - - anywhere from 1 to 3 servings .
      • 049 4  Haven't had the opportunity to cook rice yet . . . it's perfect for solving the I hate to cook oatmeal problem though ! A half cup of McCann's Quick and Easy oatmeal ( not a pre-cooked oat , just cut very fine ) and 1.5 cups of water . Turn on . . . walk away . . . shave , take a shower . . . ta-da . . . oatmeal is ready . EASY to clean too . . . no saucepan to wrestle with . . . and NO foaming or bubbling over ! Someone should start marketing this as an oatmeal cooker . Maybe I'll try cooking rice now . Definitely a 5 - star item .
      • 052 4  i used a black & decker steamer to make rice for 10 yrs and it finally broke . I should have just replaced it , but i decided to get a dedicated rice cooker instead . Maybe it is just that there is a ' learning curve ' . But the brown rice i make with this rice cooker is undercooked . With most steamers , you can check the rice and then put it back on for another 5 minutes . With this cooker it has a 15 minute timer . So either you cook for 15 min or another 15 min . It is possible that i will discover that if i add extra water or run 2 cycles that it will make perfect rice , but i can't give this a great review because i haven't managed to make great rice . Also this low end model does not have a warming function . Spend a bit more and get a better rice cooker .
      • 060 4  Bought this as gift for family member . Used it right out of the box ( after washing the inside pot , of course ) , and it works just fine . No fancy features that will just confuse and anger you ( fuzzy logic ? cooking modes ? ) - - just one button to press . Simple , classic , functional .
      • 068 4  This product works great : ) I've heard a lot of first-time buyers complain about water spilling over but that's Normal ! ! All rice cookers this size / look will do this . Don't panic , just lift the lid a bit . Panasonic is a great brand and I had no complains here . My last rice cooker lasted for about 3 years before it retired , so if you treat your rice cooker well you would have more than your money's worth .
      • 071 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Produces good , fluffy rice . . . that is if you can figure out the manual . The manual is for three different models of Panasonic rice cookers and can be pretty confusing . Still , the rice is great , the process is simple and I'm happy with it ! ( Update ) After a few years its still working great and makes perfect rice every time !

      • 075 4  I've had this rice cooker for about a year now , and I haven't had any problems with it . It's best for people ( like me ) with limited counter space and who only need to make small batches at a time . It looks nice , doesn't crowd the counter , is easy to clean , and makes perfect rice every time . Not recommended if you want to make more than about two cups at a time , though ( it says 3 - cup capacity , but I think it would likely boil over ) . A single apartment-dweller's mainstay .
      • 081 4  I am very happy with this product . It is perfect for a small family or a couple . It does sputter liquid out a little when cooking , but otherwise is great . It cooks quickly and has an auto turn off feature . It is non-stick and easy to clean . I was a bit disappointed that a steamer basket doesn't come with it , but it can be ordered from the company . Remember to wash the rice before putting into cooker . Also , you must soak rice in water in cooker for 30 minutes before starting cooking .
      • 085 4  Hi All - Here's an easy way to cook rice in this machine . No soaking , no fussiness . Take the cheap plastic cup that comes with the cooker . Measure 1 plastic cup of rice . Level off . I use Trader Joe's white basmati . Pour rice into the grey cooker . Next , add water into the grey cooking bowl up to the 2 cup mark . Don't use the plastic cup to measure water . No butter , no salt , though these could be used later after the rice has cooked . Turn on cooker , and let it do it's thing . Works magically . The best .
      • 098 4  Come on now ! For the price of this thing , the value is great ! I've been using it for about a month or so now . As a single dad , it's been a godsend . Rice fills out a meal and some nights it's the only thing my kids will actually eat . I fried up some chicken in a pan from a boneless , skinless breast , used some seasoned salt and let the rice cooker do its thing . Lo and behold , about 20 minutes later I had some savory chicken and the rice was done . Add some frozen stir-fry vegetables cooked in about 5 minutes and it's a meal ! ! ! One of these days I will splurge and buy a nicer , fancier model with warming , a steaming basket and stuff like that . But , for the money , this does what it says it will do . I've cooked white rice and brown rice . I use the little plastic cup that came with the cooker and do a 1 : 1 ratio for white rice and 1 : 1.5 ratio for brown . I've had a little bit of scorching on the bottom of the rice sometimes , but nothing bad . The brown rice * does * seem to bubble a little more and adds to the clean up time , but that's all . For a guy like me , the rice cooker is a great thing . Hit that button and the rice cooks . It pops up when it's done . That's it ! I never used to cook rice because it was such a mystery to me . No more ! If you're looking for a simple small appliance , this is it . It just works and does what it says it will .
      • 101 4  My graduate student loves this rice cooker . Perfect rice everytime ! It can also be used for steamed vegetables ! A great buy ! !
      • 103 4  I bought this to make sushi but I have yet to receive that kit but I can tell you that this thing is wonderfull ! I have tried 2 kinds of rice , Jasmine and somthing Rose ( the sushi type ) . It comes out perfect every time ! I have soaked the rice as instructed but I have also just thrown the rice and water in and let it go . Its quick , easy and a breeze to clean up ! I highly recommend this product !
      • 104 4  I love this rice cooker / steamer . It makes wonderful rice and steams corn-on-the-cob in 20 minutes . Cleaning is a breeze . . . just stick it in the dishwasher !
      • 108 4  I find this product very easy to use . The non-stick interior makes washing a breeze . The measuring cup and plastic spoon that come with it makes this product a real bargain .
      • 132 4  The rice cooker does exactly what I wanted it to do : make rice . It make decent rice ( good texture , no scorching ) in a relatively short amount of time . I can cook the rest of the meal without worrying about adjusting the temperature on a pot of rice . Clean-up is a breeze and you can't beat the price . Nothing fancy - it just works .
      • 142 4  We had a Tatung double-boiler type of rice cooker since the 1980s , which has cooked many thousands of batches of rice . I finally thought we should get a new rice cooker for our family of six . This Panasonic rice cooker is easy to use and easy to keep clean . It isn't the double-boiler kind of rice cooker ( which is hard to find these days ) , so the rice at the bottom of the pot gets a little browned by high heat near the end of the cooking cycle , but stirring the rice before serving ( as directed ) makes for a great batch of rice , and the size of this cooker is just big enough for six eaters . People who eat a lot of rice or invite guests over for meals would want the next larger size , or the largest size of rice cooker .
      • 145 4  This rice cooker makes great rice very quickly . I noticed that rice left in the cooker browns a little ( never ever burns ) , but I may be leaving it on accidentally when it should be off . I would suggest this cooker to anyone who wants a good , reliable , compact cooker . Well worth the money .
      • 153 4  This is great if your cooking for one . Doesn't have a warming function but I've never needed that . Rice doesn't stick at the bottom even if you're cooking only 1 cup . ( But wash the rice first ) . Doesn't spill over . Good buy but for $15 I found one ( a different brand ) at Walgreen's . You might want to browse at your local stores first . I didn't .
      • 177 4  Read the comments on Amazon from others who purchased Panasonic's Automatic Rice Cooker and they were correct . It is a great product . Doesn't spit or make a mess on the counter , rice doesn't stick ( I do give it a spray with cooking oil prior to using ) and its easy to clean . After reading the directions , I have begun soaking rice for 30 minutes prior to cooking .
      • 181 4  I've never written a review before , but the performance of this rice cooker has prompted me to do so now . We cooked 1 cup of rice , following the instructions exactly ( rinse , soak , cook , leave for 15 min after cooking ) . Result : perfect rice , no sticking in the pan , great flavor , perfect texture . No need to say more . $23 very well spent .
      • 186 4  I am very happy with this , my first , rice cooker . I have only used it a few times , and the rice isn't quite as fluffy as when I cook it on my stovetop ( and it comes out , lol ) , but I'm sure I'll get that dialed in by either changing the amount of water , soak time , or the time I let the rice sit keeping warm . After using this rice cooker I am now even more skeptical of the high prices attached to other rice cookers . If it were to break a couple years from now , I would by the same one to replace it .
      • 191 4  It is the simplest rice cooker you can imagine but it does the job . For guys who are talking about spilling problem wash the rice 4 - 5 times before cooking it . Of course there will be some foam but no spill . I have given this product 4 star just because it does not have a warmer mode .
      • 194 4  It does one thing and does it very well : It cooks just the right amount of rice or other grains . It's easy to clean , there's no burning , and it doesn't take up much space on the counter . It takes a little experimenting to get exactly the right amount of water for your personal taste ( I use less for white , more for black rice ) , but if you start with the amount recommended on the package of product , you won't be far off and can adjust the next time .
      • 199 4  I like this rice cooker . It cooks well . I bought this Panasonic cooker mainly for its reliability ; I used many rice cookers so far ( other brands ) , they go out of service pretty fast ( within 1 to 2 years ) . I can cook not more that 2 1 / 4 uncooked rice maximum . I use Indian Basmathi rice to cook . You probably can cook more than that with other types of rice .
      • 200 4  Easy to use , no extra functions you won't need , and it cooks brown rice perfectly . It's the perfect size for a small family , doesn't take up much room , and super easy to clean - non-stick siding .
      • 203 4  This thing works great . Perfect for a bachelor who likes rice for dinner and saving the rest for leftovers the next day . Yum yum , now go get some !
      • 205 4  Good value for money . The non-stick feautre is of good quality and a very useful feature . Wish a wooden or plastic spatula was included to complete the package !
      • 207 4  Compact , easy-to-use rice cooker ( but NO steamer basket ) is inexpensive but does its job in a straightforward way . Good for 2 - 3 people .

    • Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH THIS COOKER . IT IS PERFECT FOR A COUPLE OR SMALL FAMILY . IT IS A PETITE COOKER AND THUS DOESN'T TAKE UP MUCH SPACE . NOTE IT WON'T MAKE A HUGE QUANTITY OF RICE BUT IT'S ALWAYS BEEN MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR US . IT IS SO SIMPLE TO MAKE PERFECT RICE EVERY TIME , WHICH WAS MY PROBLEM . I ALWAYS HAD MIXED RESULTS BEFORE THIS COOKER . ALSO IT IS VERY EASY TO CLEAN ! HIGHLY , HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! ! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY WITH THIS PURCHASE . THE PRICE IS VERY AFFORDABLE TOO .
      • 086 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I use to LOVE this little rice cooker - Perfect for a family of 2 - 4 , rice cooked great all the time , easy to clean . But after a year & a half of Gentle use - the non-stick container started to peel . THIS is VERY DISAPPOINTING . This Happened to my previous rice cooker , different brand . NO ONE WANTS TO SPEND $ $ $ $ for a hard to find replacement container . Who wants to buy another cooker every 1 - 2 years ! ? !

      • 160 4  I never thought I would find a rice cooker to replace my previous one which finally wore out . I do not like the automatic warming feature and this was the only one I found that went to OFF instead of WARM . I like to go off and not worry that the rice will burn while I am gone . It looks good , cooks perfect rice every time , and I use it a lot . It's not very big , so if you feed more than 4 people or so , or like leftovers , you might go for a bigger one .

    • Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I have always pooh-poohed ricer makers . Pooh ! I would say to the aisle of kitchen appliances at Costco , instead eyeing the slow cooker or vacuum food sealer . Pooh Pooh ! I'd say at Brandsmart , looking over the list of features such as auxiliary vegetable steaming , timers , and rice warming mode . Feh , I might sometimes add disdainfully , if the spirit was really moving through me . Who would need such a thing ? Who would spend money on such a frivolous device , when they are countless electronic gewgaws , gadgets , and gizmos still in an unsold state ? Why in the world would I spent my hard-earned gold on something that does not add another glowing rectangle for me to stare at ? I fancy myself a fair cook . I'm not a chef , but I'm a good cook . And I cook a lot of rice . At least three times a week , I'm making a pot of white , fluffy rice to go along with a stir fry . Or whipping up a batch of sticky rice to accompany a Cuban or Thai themed meal . Not disgusting Minute Rice , mind you , but plain old Rice Rice , just like God intended us to cook it . Rice is easy . I follow the America's Test Kitchen method : 1 cup of rice to 1 and a half cups of water . Add a dash of salt . Uncovered , bring it to a boil , and boil for 3 to 4 minutes , until the water subsides and you see little airholes in the rice , bubbling like clams on the beach as the waves roll out . Then clap a cover on , turn the heat down to the lowest setting , and let it steam for exactly 15 minutes . Viola ! Delicious rice . Alright . So , maybe one day out of three I'll forget and boil it for too long . Maybe once every other week the rice boils over , coating my stove with a thin layer of rice glue that even Goo Gone has a hard time with . So what if once or twice a month I leave it on for twenty or thirty minutes by accident , burn half of the rice to the bottom , and have to start all over again ? Minor inconveniences . Rice is cheap . As I said - I know how to cook it , dammit ! Such is my thinking . Such is my faith . Such I have always believed . But then , one day , I was at work . My co-worker in the neighboring cube , Lata Kumar , was flipping through a coupon book for Best Buy . A new rice cooker . Perfect ! she said with glee . Or gleefully . Or in a gleeful manor . At any rate , she was smiling when she said , of that much I'm sure . I gave her my carefully thought out , reasoned analysis of why such a purchase was a waste of her hard-earned cash . I believe I used the words stupid , foolish , and pointless as part of my carefully constructed argument . She nodded thoughtfully . You're an idiot , she said , and clipped the coupon . Somewhat steamed , I kept the rest of my opinions on her shopping to myself . After her lunch break , Lata came back with a new rice cooker , for which she had paid about $25.00 . I decided to try to repair my image with her . So , how do you know that's a good one ? I asked with a chipper air . She held up the box . It's Black and Decker , she said , nodding . So how can you go wrong with that ? I had no response . The idea of the rice cooker possessed me that afternoon . The following weekend , I was at Costco , and I looked over the two rice cookers they had there . There was a 10 cup and a 12 cup model . One for $90 and one for $30 . I looked inside . 10 cups of rice is a lot of rice . There's just me and Frank . Didn't anyone make a smaller version for us no kid households ? Letting my fingers do the walking next , I was soon at Amazon.com , my faithful purveyor of all that is electronic and thus good . Sure enough , there were a number of small rice cookers in the 3 to 5 cup range . There was even a snazzy looking one from Zojirushi , who make the fantastic bread machine that I've used at least three or four times over the past decade , since it makes such wonderful bread . But man . . . expensive . And I'm still not completely sold on the rice cooker idea . . . yet . What's this ? A simple little one from Panasonic , for just under $30 ? That sounds about right . No extra features . No warming mode . Just a single button that says Cook . Comes with a half-cup measure for the rice . Makes anywhere from a half cup to three cups of rice . The pan is removable , so you can put it right on the table and scoop rice from it . Seems like a good choice . I'm an Amazon Prime member , so shipping is free . I'll take a chance ! Today , the Panasonic Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker arrived , with two day shipping exactly as promised . The cooker is a simple affair . It consists of a pot , a lid , and a housing with a conductor at the bottom . There is only one switch : It says Cook . It snaps up like a toaster lever . It pops back down when it's done . And that is it . Could such a simple , plain , no frills machine make rice that could compare with the delicious stove top rice I make so often ? A pork stir fry will answer that question , my friends ! Using the enclosed plastic cup , I measured out one cup of dry rice , dumping it into the pot . I then filled the pot up to the 2 cup line with water . I placed the pot inside the cooker . I plugged it in . I put the lid on top . And I flipped the switch on the front to the Cook position . And that was it . I forgot about it , and prepared my stir fry . Then I remembered the rice . I took off the lid . The rice smell steamed up out of the pot , revealing a clean expanse of white . Using a small hot pad , I removed the pan from the cooker and placed it on the table . We dove into our meal . Wow , Frank said . What did you do to the rice tonight ? It tastes really good ! I scooped out my own scoops of rice , and dumped a healthy portion of pork cooked with red bell peppers and scallions and onions and ginger and garlic and hoison sauce and sesame oil and corn starch and red pepper flakes and chicken broth ( or , if you prefer , pork stir fry ) . Frank was right . The rice was perfect . Absolutely perfect . In fact , I would almost swear that somehow , the cooker turned that cup of rice into more rice that a cup of rice can be . Because , when I make the rice the old way , there was never any leftover rice . Now , miraculously , there was . It was like our own little micro version of the miracle of the loaves and fishes . Cleanup was shockingly easy . Basically , there wasn't any to speak of . The pan , although not technically a non-stick pan , didn't stick . Or rather , the rice didn't stick to it . Nothing was cooked on , nothing was burnt . The pan practically wiped clean with a sponge . Ready for another round of making rice . So , that's my experience . That's my story of the Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker , and I'm sticking to it . I can't speak to how reliable this remarkable little wonder is , because I've had for one day and have used it once . I can't tell you anything about the warranty terms or its electrical load or how recyclable it is . I can't tell you those things , because I do not know those things . What I do know is this : It makes great rice . It is small , easy to clean , and practical . And it is as easy to use as a toaster . It is , in fact , the simplest appliance in my kitchen . I require nothing more . I am a happy camper , and my camp is filled with happiness and wistful memories of fluffy rice drenched in scrumptious sauce . More rice will be made tomorrow night . Rice may be made over the weekend . Rice might even be made in the morning to go with me to work . The Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker has freed my love of rice . Rice is no longer trapped in my pantry , to be released only when it can be contained within a pot on my stove . My rice has been emancipated . Let me close with this : If you are a member of a small household , let's say of between one and three people , and if you like rice . . . then you cannot go wrong with the Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker . I never heard a report from Lata about the Black and Decker , however , so I have nothing to say about that .
      • 004 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Great small , basic rice cooker . Our old rice cooker had a 3 cup minimum which was overkill for a family of 3 , especially when we started eating fewer carbs . This cooker makes 1 - 2 cups with no fuss .
      • 008 4  Works just fine . It's simple and basic , and good for cooking small quantities of rice . Just right for 2 , or maybe up to 4 , people . The non-stick coating makes for easy cleanup . And since it doesn't have a warm feature , there's even less chance of rice sticking to the bottom . The warm feature isn't really needed , since one is likely to use up what's been cooked during one's meal , before the rice gets cold . Sometimes , while cooking , the rice water will foam up and sputter out the side . Well , some varieties of rice DO create more foam than others . I don't think foaming is the fault of the rice cooker ; rice just tends to foam while cooking . Try rinsing the rice several times before cooking . That usually reduces the amount of foam . Some people even soak the rice for a while before cooking , but this can be a nuisance if time is an issue . This IS a rather small cooker , so cooking 2 or more cups of uncooked rice will be more likely to cause some sputtering , although , once again , the variety of rice that you cook and whether you rinse the uncooked rice a few times first makes the difference between sputtering out or not . But really , it's not a big deal if it does ! I paid just $21.85 for it from Amazon , and since the total was over $25 ( I ordered another item along with this cooker ) , I had it sent via Super Saver , which meant no shipping charge . A really good rice cooker at a really good price !
      • 009 4  I've had a National rice cooker for over 20 years that still works fine but has an aluminum pan . Wanted something a little smaller and non-stick . I believe Panasonic acquired National so thought I would try one of their cookers . Received it yesterday and decided to test it right off the bat . I make a mixture of brown rice and barley , and after reading all the reviews , decided to just put in 1.5 cups of rice and 3 cups water . I have always rinsed my rice first so did that as well . Used my own measuring cups ( not the one included with the cooker ) and room temperature to cold water ( which was necessary with my National ) . Plugged it in and hit the switch-I couldn't believe how quickly it cooked ! It came out great with just a touch of browning on the bottom . That might have been due to 1 ) the grains were on the old side so might have needed more water and 2 ) I left the rice in the cooker longer than I usually do because I thought it might be a little undercooked . Very pleased with my purchase-nice compact size , makes the right amount for two people and did a great job in a short amount of time .
      • 010 4  I've never bought a rice cooker before and thought that this would be mediocre , considering that I would only be cooking brown rice , and when i tried to cook brown rice on the stove it would be kinda gritty . But this cooked the rice perfectly . At first I kept watching it , because it isn't an air-tight seal , so all of this steam kept escaping . I thought that the water would boil out and I would be left with a bunch of charred grains . But to my surprise , the brown rice came out perfect . From top to bottom , evenly cooked .
      • 012 4  I'm living in a room w / out kitchen . This lovely rice cooker has been w / me for few months and I made rice and variety of dishes w / it . It works fast , well , and easy to clean . The steaming function is so helpful that I can boil soup and such to serve w / rice ! it makes my life w / out a kitchen so much easier and wonderful , and now i don't have to go out and spend money on restaurants's food that i'm already sick and tired of ! I've been conficent w / the Panasonic's and this rice cooker w / such a great price again gain my loyalty to the brand - - I LOVE this rice cooker ! ! !
      • 013 4  This simple , compact cooker makes great rice . But the instructions are unclear , incomplete , and filled with typos . Here's what they should say . 1 . Using the included measuring scoop , measure 1 , 2 , or 3 level scoops of uncooked rice into a strainer . ( The scoop is 3 / 4 cup . If you've lost it , use a measuring cup to measure 3 / 4 , 1 - 1 / 2 , or 2 - 1 / 4 cups of rice . ) 2 . Rinse the rice in the strainer under cold running water . 3 . Dump the rinsed rice into the cooker pan . 4 . Add cold water to the pan so it just reaches the 1 , 2 , or 3 cup mark on the side of the pan . For example , if you used 2 scoops of rice , add water to the 2 cup mark . 5 . Place the pan in the cooker , put the lid on , plug in the cooker , and press down the switch to turn it on . 6 . After the Cook light goes out , wait 15 minutes for the rice to finish cooking . 7 . Gently stir the rice , and serve .
      • 014 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Nice small unit . It makes about two and half cups max . Non stick surface is the best I have seen . It takes about 30 minutes to cook and it comes out perfect everytime .
      • 017 4  After reading the reviews of various rice cookers , I went with this model . While the more expensive models may automatically compensate for who knows what factors , this model just does the basics - brings the water to a boil , cooks the rice , and turns off . That is , it makes rice without you having to pay attention to it . Be sure to use a little butter or oil ; if you don't , it may foam over making a mess .
      • 018 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This rice cooker has successfully cooked rice , mixed wild and brown , which we have never been able to cook before . It sputters a bit and takes a while , but it works great !
      • 020 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I got this so I could cook just around 2 - 2.5 cups uncooked rice . ( I have a 10 cup cooker , which I should have figured out as it can't cook 10 uncooked cups rice ! ! ) I found that the vessel is so small , it can hardly cook 2 cups rice ( It brims up ) which does not serve my purpose . Should be great for 1 person . Also the picture shown is not the actual cooker . Its the silver color exterior . I would say its a 4 cup ( cooked rice ) cooker

      • 022 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) . . . but only for small quantities . If you put more than 1.5 cups of rice in ( for which you need 3 cups of water , not the 1.5 cups that the directions say ) , the cooker splortles water out the top while cooking . But for 1.5 cups or less , it is fine . It cleans easily , and is quite consistent .
      • 024 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I have had a National rice cooker for nearly 30 years , having replaced the cord and the top handle . I love it .
      • 026 4  We've had this rice cooker for about a year . It seems to do the job admirably , cooking white rice almost perfectly every time . Also , it's quite speedy , as apparently many of the lower-end rice cookers are . It would suit us fine if not for one flaw , which is that the non-stick coating is coming off . It seems to be made of some kind of plastic , and is gradually flaking off , although we don't know if it's into the rice we eat , or at cleaning time . We clean it with a sponge after soaking , so it doesn't seem like it should be causing the coating to come off . Other than that , it's a fine rice cooker , and a great one for the price . I did notice that most of the lower ratings come from people who complain about it being too small or not having a steamer . First , I don't know how people can complain that it's too small when it's designed to be small , and says up-front that it only makes 3.3 cups ( as opposed to most that list the size as 5 , 8 , or 10 cups ) . If you're a family , or a couple / single person who eats an ungodly amount of rice , then buy a bigger one ! Duh . For us ( two people ) , we love rice but never use more than about half its capacity at any one time anyway .
      • 027 4  i go to college and using this rice cooker is a great way to make food ( not just rice , but stews , soups , noodles , fried eggs , grilled cheese sandwiches , basically you can cook anything in it ) when the cafeteria gets old . it works quickly , between 10 to 20 minutes , and has an auto-shut off function if food starts burning . sometimes my rice is a little burnt on the bottom . . . nothing too serious to detract from the overall quality of the rice .

      • 029 4  I have always pooh-poohed ricer makers . • 030 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Short lived rice cooker . The non-stick coating started to peel off within a year . Unfortunately just the parts for this cooker are not available . Also , you can not make more than two cups of rice in this cooker . The water always boils over the side and makes a mess .

      • 032 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Despite all the other reviews .
      • 035 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I use this rice cooker to make McCann's Irish Oatmeal every morning . Not only does it make a good bowl of oatmeal , it is very easy to clean . Good buy !

      • 039 4  product is exactly what i'd hoped for . after experimenting , i've discovered that for best results more water than usual is necessary to avoid excessive dryness
      • 041 4  To me , the magic of cooking rice has a lot to do with prep work . Cooking is the final step . That said , a rice cooker is only doing the final step , no more . The final step involves measuring the correct amount of rice with the correct amount of water . . . some packages of rice tell you their measurements , some do not . After the measurements are made , they are put into the rice cooker , and the rice cooker does it's job . After the rice cooker is done , due to it having no warming function being a 3.3 and Panasonic's lowest priced model . Therefore , you must not touch the lid for at least 10 minutes after the rice is done . 20 minutes wouldn't hurt . Measurements : Nishiki white rice - 12 oz Rice to 16 oz H2O Nishiki brown rice - 8 oz Rice to 24 oz H2O ( water will overflow in this 3.3 size . ) Sho-Chiku-Bai - 12 oz Rice to 18 oz H2O ( Koda Farms ) Prep work for Rice : Rinse the rice . Like washing your vegetables , rinsing your rice makes a better tasting rice . Put the rice in a bowl add two or three times as much water , then move your hand around in the water until the water is dirty . Pour the water and rice into a strainer so the rice stays , and the water does not . Repeat until moving your hand in the water does not make the water dirty . Soak the rice . Leave a container of rinsed rice with two or three times the amount of water over night . Rinse the rice once for anything that loosened . Now it's ready to be cooked . Try to buy good rice and don't forget to do this rice prep work . This is how to have the better tasting rice . Once the rice is cooked , you can do several things with it , including creating hamburger buns out of it . The Manga Cookbook This is a good cookbook . . . seriously . It tells you how to do simple things many other cookbooks do not . If you have health issues , you may consider adding True Health ' Ultimate pH Balance ' to the water used for soaking , and to the water measured for cooking . As for the durability of this product . . . I've cooked easily over 50 lbs of rice in this rice cooker , as well as have moved once . It still performs as on the day I bought it . Of course , remember to clean the rice cooking container the night you make the rice , so the rice doesn't harden . This way , you can use a washcloth to clean it so the non-stick stays around .
      • 044 4  My ricer is on it's way back to Amazon for a refund . Not only did the rice brown on the bottom from overcooking , but I could not get the plastic shipping smell out of the liner , pot / insert , whatever you want to call it . I washed it many times in the dishwasher and even soaked it in lemon juice but the plastic smell would not leave and as a result the rice tasted , you guessed it , like plastic . This is not a good product , save your money . Panasonic SR-G06FG 3.3 - Cup Rice Cooker / Steamer
      • 046 4  This is the first rice cooker I've ever owned , and as my first experience with rice cookers - it's great . I cooks more than enough for 3 or 4 people , or two huge portions for me and my gluttonous friends ! You just throw the rice in pot , fill water to a certain line according to how much rice you put in , turn in on and in no time you've got a pot of great rice . ( i would recommend using a little bit more water than what they say to use to get the rice a little more fluffier ) . Now I've got me a wok , and making all kinds of wonderful rice dishes . . . I don't know how I've gotten by so long without a rice cooker .
      • 048 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Haven't had the opportunity to cook rice yet . . . it's perfect for solving the I hate to cook oatmeal problem though !
      • 051 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) i used a black & decker steamer to make rice for 10 yrs and it finally broke .
      • 053 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This rice cooker was my first .
      • 055 4  This rice cooker was only $18 when I bought it on this site . I only use it for myself and occasionally one other person , cooking calrose and basmati rice in it . After owning it for a year and a half , I can't say that it has ever turned out a bad pot of rice ( aside from my faults ) . Doesn't have a keep warm function , but not really needed since you can always just whip up another pot in a jiffy . As others have said , it doesn't include a steamer , and the rice should sit there for about 10 mins before eating ( so it can absorb the extra steam ) .
      • 056 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Pros : Includes a measuring cup , and a rice scooper . Cooks any amount of rice very well ( below 3.3 cups of course ) Fast cooking Cons : Make sure that the outside of the non-stick pan is completely dry before you put it in and start using the cooker . If it is not , the water will stain the hearing unit . Not sure if it is rust , but it is annoying to see . Notes : After it pops up , you have to wait 15 - 30 minutes until it's ready to eat . This is standard on all rice cookers , just to note it .

      • 058 4  Don't get me wrong , this is an excellent rice cooker . On that note , there is little more I could say that hasn't already been said in previous reviews . However , the product description is somewhat misleading . I ordered this specific product because the description said it also comes with a steamer basket . The model I bought ( the one in the description ) does not have a steamer basket . So pay very close attention to which model you are actually buying ! I was moreso seeking a rice cooker so when this model arrived , I really didn't want to go through the hassel of returning it and waiting for the right model . Also , this model was supposed to come with a wooden rice paddle . No paddle is included !
      • 061 4  I loved this little guy , but the non stick coating started peeling off after about a year and I had to throw it away or eat teflon . It was great while it lasted but the fact that Panasonic HAS to be aware of this problem and doesn't sell replacement pans smacks of planned obsolescence to me . Kind of irresponsible or underhanded , I can't decide which .
      • 064 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Great rice cooker , love the non-stick surface and that you can make less rice for only 2 people . As description reads Cooker / Steamer thought there'd be a steamer basket included but there wasn't .
      • 069 4  This is an awesome rice cooker . It has never burnt on the bottom and rice comes out just right every time . . . . Even Wild Rice is awesome ! I would recommend this item to everyone ! Nice Buy !
      • 073 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I had purchased a larger size rice cooker and it was just too big , I threw it away after a year , it took up too much space . This is just right for a family of 3 or 4 , I don't waste the rice when its this size . I use it for a good Japanese pearl rice , or Indian Basmati , or Mixed wild rice , and it is perfect . I highly recommend this one , and would give it as a gift also .
      • 077 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Our family has owned 4 rice cookers in 30 years and this cooks the best rice of all of them . With only 2 to cook for it's the prefect size , quick and very easy to use . The secret is once the cooker shuts off let the cooked rice sit covered for 15 minutes . GREAT rice every time .
      • 079 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This is a really nice hassle-free basic rice cooker . I got it about a month back and have been using it everyday . Somethings about the cooker : 1 . Ease of use : very easy to use . Calibrations for water measures inside the rice cooker are spot on . No need for any improvisation . 2 . Cleaning : very easy to clean as its non stick and rice doesnt stick to the bottom , unlike other cheaper cookers . 3 . versatility : have cooked two very different types of rice in this and it manages both with panache . 4 . quality of rice output : very good , fluffy rice . Manages to cook even the starchiest ones properly ( though you would need to clean those a little more than others ) 5 . wish list : wish this had a steam basket . I highly recommend this one as its value for money at $20 . UPDATE ( 11 / 04 / 09 ) : 1 . Everything that I said above still holds true . 2 . Apart from small scratches , no damage to the product yet . 3 . Surprisingly resilient ( I once dumped rice and water into it , only to realize that the plastic container wasn't there . . . ) 4 . Still cooks any type of rice with ease . Seems like its in for the long haul . $20 well spent ( pat on my back . . . )

      • 082 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) We had this delivered to our son in the Air Force and his first reaction on seeing it was that it was too small . After his first use , he hasn't complained ! It feeds our hungry Airman just fine . . .
      • 084 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Hi All - Here's an easy way to cook rice in this machine . The best .
      • 089 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I needed a simple rice cooker and I found it . Great buy .
      • 093 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This is a cheap item . Nothing about it speaks of quality . Except that it works very well . For the price , its a steal .
      • 095 4  I've had this rice cooker for three years now , and I've never had a problem with it . Using it is so simple ! Just put in the rice and water , and there's only one button to press down : cook You don't have to do anything else to it . And even though there is no warmer setting , you can actually leave the rice there for a while if you need to finish up the rest of dinner , and it will stay warm . The pot and spoon are both easy to clean , and the first of these is non-stick . Great product ! !
      • 096 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Nice size unit . Works with no problems . It will take me some time to get the actual amount of water required for my preference , but the unit works great .
      • 099 4  If you're looking for a cheap and easy to use rice cooker look no further . I purchased this rice cooker on sale for somewhere between $15 and $20 , and wasn't sure what I'd be getting , but it has exceeded my expectations . It's small , easy to store and clean , and makes enough rice for about two people . I'm not a huge connoisseur or rice , so I'm not sure how it stacks up against the $100 + versions , but I've always been happy with its speed , and the quality of rice it produces . It's the perfect little machine for the casual rice cooker who doesn't want to spend a fortune . Overall , it is a very good product at an even better price .
      • 100 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) My graduate student loves this rice cooker . Perfect rice everytime ! It can also be used for steamed vegetables ! A great buy ! !
      • 102 4  I have used this rick cooker over 5 years ( when I bought it 7 years before , it is still called national but it is the same model ) and soon find it's often too small whenever I have some friends come over . It basically does two simple things , cook rice and stop when it is ready . The worst thing about this rick cooker is that it NEVER breaks , my friend also use the same one for so many years and she runs into the same problem . It is a pity you throw a well functional stuff away but you really want upgrade sometimes .
      • 105 4  Good for one or two people . It is small so it will not take a lot of space . However , brown rice did not turned out like I expected . It does just does the job . Good Price though .
      • 106 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This is a terrific little rice cooker so long as you realize it's limits . For instance : One cup of rice ( or for that matter , coffee ) , is approximately 6 ounces , NOT 8 ounces . So this cooker is good for about 2.5 regular cups of uncooked rice . I use a ratio of 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water and the rice turns out perfectly . I sorta wish it had the warming feature the more expensive models have , but it's small footprint is really appreciated in my small kitchen . ( It fits perfectly inside my crock-pot ) . If you want to learn more , check out the online encyclopedia site Wikipedia and search for rice cooker . PS : This is NOT a steamer , though the description says otherwise .

      • 109 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I was looking for a rice cooker that wouldn't take up too much counter space or force me to make so much rice that I wasted food and that also made fast , tasty rice .
      • 111 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I received my cooker yesterday . The directions on the water to rice ratio are poor . There are no instructions for brown rice . I used the lines on the pot and got half raw rice . Adding more water did not help . There must be some trick to getting good rice . You will end up wasting rice to get it right .
      • 113 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I have nothing but great things to say about this little cooker . I use it about once a week and is so simple to use and clean . Just put in the rice and water , hit the switch , and 15 minutes later I have perfect rice . It is very simple to clean and the rice spoon that comes with it works great for getting every grain out and onto my plate . A great buy in my book . . .
      • 115 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I was reluctant at first to purchase a rice cooker that was so inexpensive , but after reading other reviews , decided to give it a try . Well , to say the least , we are very impressed with this little cooker . The cooker delivers perfect rice each and every time , and aside form the slightly vague instruction sheet , we cannot fault this device at all . Well worth the money and a great addition to the kitchen !
      • 117 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) WE got this rice cooker a month ago , and have been using it like crazy . I love this little thing . Easy to clean , nothing sticks . IF it does , just a quick rinse in the sink , and it's good as new . Don't know why you'd want a more expensive one . This does everything you'd need . As long as your shopping for a small rice cooker , this is the only one you should consider , Nick

      • 119 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This cooker doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles so if you need a timer or a neat little LCD display you'll want to look elsewhere .

      • 125 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I bought this rice cooker to replace the 9 yr old panasonic rice maker that i handed down to my son . The rice doesn't stick to the pan like my old model . both the old and new panasonic rice makers produce perfect rice .
      • 127 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Nice little rice cooker for people who like rice , but don't need to make huge quantities of it . Compact and works great .
      • 129 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I'm very happy with the Panasonic rice cooker . It makes perfect rice everytime and the non-stick coating makes for a very easy cleanup .
      • 133 4  I've have had an early version of this rice cooker for 15 years . But its the last 5 years that I have used it frequently . Needless to say the instructions disappeared years ago . The first I'd heard of soaking rice was recently . It makes perfect rice for me . I make brown or wild rice , even an exotic black Canadian rice . I don't soak or rinse the rice ( but may start ) . First I coat pot with olive oil spray . Measure in my water , add measured rice , usually a 2 : 1 water to rice ratio . I don't use the internal markings on pot . . . . . Putting the water in first has eliminated any burning . Making the max amount has always made a little mess . So , I'm buying a bigger size rice cooker !
      • 134 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) so far , so good with this rice cooker . it's really simple and easy to use . . . i've tried both brown rice and quinoa with success . just turn on the switch , go do something else , and about a 25 minutes later , you have some food to eat . it's saved me a ton of burnt-rice-pan-scrubbing , which i love .
      • 136 4  This is one of those cheap little gizmos that actually turns out to be a wonder of science . It cooks rice perfectly every time . Put the rice in , put some water in , and it seems to know what to do . How do they do that ? Highly recommended .
      • 139 4  This is the second Panasonic brand rice cooker I've owned and I have to say I'm a big fan . The rice comes out perfectly with little or no crusting on the bottom and side which is a problem with an Aroma brand cooker I have . Given how will this works with the couple of different varieties of rice I've cooked I wonder about how much better the newer and quite expensive ' fuzzy logic ' rice cookers are . You can't beat it for the money . Buy it - you'll be happy with it .
      • 140 4  I got this cooker from Amazon's Friday Sale . Great rice cooker . The rice won't stick to the pan and since there is scale inside indicating the water you should fill in , there is no problem at all for me to have my perfect rice . One tiny thing that might worth mentioning . A plastic scoop ( rice paddle ) is already included in the box , which is not mentioned in Amazon's product description page . So Frequently Bought Together feature in the page kinda misled me to buy a redundant one . I don't feel bother to return the 2 dollar stuff .
      • 141 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) We had a Tatung double-boiler type of rice cooker since the 1980s , which has cooked many thousands of batches of rice .
      • 144 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This rice cooker makes great rice very quickly . I noticed that rice left in the cooker browns a little ( never ever burns ) , but I may be leaving it on accidentally when it should be off . I would suggest this cooker to anyone who wants a good , reliable , compact cooker . Well worth the money .
      • 146 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This is my first rice cooker and Im glad I bought it . Makes rice quick and easy and it comes out great . For single guys like me that dont like to cook , you can buy rice-a-roni and make it in this steamer ! ! ! pour the rice in , mix the spices ( while dry ) , and then add water up to the number 2 line . Wait about 35 - 45 minutes and you got great rice . Easy clean up , no hassle , set it and forget it .

      • 154 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I love rice ! !
      • 156 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) It is a good tiny cooker that would do well for the occasional rice eater . It works fine , and is not bulky to store . I bought it for my apartment bound son , flying on his own for the first time .
      • 161 4  cooks white rice , brown rice , both perfect . Have seen a similar item ( not Panasonic , though ) at an evil chain store out of Arkansas for about 40% less .
      • 163 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) It makes a big mess in the kitchen , spitting water and rice liquids all over the counter . I only tried to make 1 cup but it still just bubbled up and ran all over everything . Its being returned . I gave it two stars becasue it did turn out some cooked rice .
      • 169 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) This little rice cooker has been a fantastic gadget for my kitchen because I have always messed up rice one way or another. So , for the sake of saving the life of yet another pot I decided to opt for this rice cooker . It was also highly praised by my in-laws : ) I have only used this a few times but each time my rice has come out absolutely perfect . Its simplicity makes it a breeze to use . Cooking rice was once a juggling act for me but now I literally rinse the rice , dump the water and rice into the pot and set it and forget it . This is really nice because it lets me focus on the main part of dinner . Bye Bye juggling act ! ! The nonstick pot is great too because it makes cleanup effortless . If you're reading this and are on the fence I hope that my review has helped ease your concern . Also , if you're getting married I definitely recommend adding it to your registry . I didn't think I needed a rice cooker along with all of the other gadgets or that it was worth the money but for this price and the results it is definitely a must have !

      • 174 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) The Panasonic SRG06FG is a no-frills rice cooker , but that's really all you need . The size is perfect for a small family ( 3 - 4 people ) and cooking rice is a cinch . I didn't bother reading the instructions really ( think I threw them out with the box actually ) , but 1 1 / 2 cups of water for every cup of rice is a safe formula to stick with . If you put less than that , the bottom of the rice could burn slightly ( although some people actually like that ) . So far , this one hasn't failed me and it's easy to clean . The size is right , the price is right and the rice ( or quinoa , as the case has been ) cooks well every time .

      • 176 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Read the comments on Amazon from others who purchased Panasonic's Automatic Rice Cooker and they were correct . It is a great product . Doesn't spit or make a mess on the counter , rice doesn't stick ( I do give it a spray with cooking oil prior to using ) and its easy to clean . After reading the directions , I have begun soaking rice for 30 minutes prior to cooking .
      • 178 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) First of all , the instructions really don't tell you how to cook rice . They seem to miss the fact that the measuring cup that comes with this thing is really not a ' cup ' . It's less . Once you get it , use the cooking instructions that came with the RICE ! Use a real measuring cup to get proper proportions of rice to water . Once you do that , you'll be pretty happy with the outcome .
      • 180 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I've never written a review before , but the performance of this rice cooker has prompted me to do so now . We cooked 1 cup of rice , following the instructions exactly ( rinse , soak , cook , leave for 15 min after cooking ) . Result : perfect rice , no sticking in the pan , great flavor , perfect texture . No need to say more . $23 very well spent .
      • 183 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Overall a great product . I've had the cooker now for about a month . I've cooked several batches of brown rice and regular rice and so far each batch has come out well . It is a bit on the slow side when compared to a stovepot preparation , but the lack of mess to clean up afterwards and the warm feature creates a natural steaming environment for fluffing the rice , so that's a definite improvement to be sure . It also takes up almost no countertop space so you can tuck it into a corner and let it work it's magic . Wish it came with the steamer basket though . : ( It seems this particular model variant does not include it . My only complaint so far is the screw securing the lid to the lid handle has come loose and has required re-tightening a few times . Otherwise , so far so good !

      • 185 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I am very happy with this , my first , rice cooker .
      • 187 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I'm a nooby when it comes to cooking .
      • 190 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) It is the simplest rice cooker you can imagine but it does the job . For guys who are talking about spilling problem wash the rice 4 - 5 times before cooking it . Of course there will be some foam but no spill . I have given this product 4 star just because it does not have a warmer mode .
      • 192 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I bought it after my old rice cooker was broken . It cooks rice very well . But it is a little bit small for our family .
      • 196 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I noticed on page 8 of the instruction manual the Rice Cooker / Steamer was supposed to come with a steaming basket . Mine didn't , but I shrugged it off because I planned to use it for rice anyway . My first mistake was to use the hashmarks on the side of the bowl to determine how much water to put in . When I did this and got caught on a phone call , I returned to find the pot had boiled over and all but destroyed the 9 page instruction manual . The appliance is pretty intuitive , though , so I can't say I felt like I was flying blind without a manual . I stuck the bowl and lid in the dishwasher to clean up the first mess , didn't have an issue , and have continued washing it this way . I used the directions included on the rice package ( rather than the rice cooker directions ) for the second attempt and things went off without a hitch . I'm still experimenting with whether a larger rice yield ( more than 1 cup dry ) will increase or decrease the risk of boil over . I also haven't attempted to steam anything without the hypothetical steaming basket . As my experiments progress , I'll keep you posted .

      • 198 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) I like this rice cooker .

      • 206 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Compact , easy-to-use rice cooker ( but NO steamer basket ) is inexpensive but does its job in a straightforward way . Good for 2 - 3 people .
      • 208 4  This review is from : Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3 - Cup Automatic Rice Cooker ( Kitchen ) Cooks rice adequately . Expected a steamer basket , but none is included with this model . Product write-up is misleading .
      • 212 4  I got this after my cheapie Salton R3A rice cooker died . This has the same basic design but the bowl is teflon coated so rice doesnt stick . Put your rice in , add the right amount of water , press the button and just wait and you'll have great rice . Brown rice will get a little messy though . I get foaming bubble and they want to bubble out of the top of the lid . I need to practice more on making brown rice with this thing
