Sanyo HPS-SG3 200-Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill, Black

  • 002 4  This is one appliance that lives up to every one of the manufacturer's claims . I follow directions and spray the grill surface with cooking spray and put half a cup of water in the pan below , and the grill really is , as advertised , smokeless and extremely easy to clean . I like the adjustable grill temperature , a feature I'm not used to since my faithful antique Farberware , now deceased , had only two settings , namely plugged in and on or unplugged and off . The Sanyo cooks everying in half the time the old grill did , and without cabinet-endangering flareups . I particularly like the enormous cooking surface since I'm regularly cooking for 5 adults and a child and with this grill I can cook for all of us at once . The dimensions make it easy to store if you set it vertically rather than horizontally . The appliance is so low in height that I set mine on a silicone countertop protector , but I'm not sure this is really necessary . My only complaint is that there is no surrounding rim to keep your hamburgers from sliding right off the grill when you try to flip them over , but using a second spatula as a backstop solves that problem . This grill is a terrific bargain even at the suggested retail price ; at the current Amazon price it's even more terrific .
    • 027 4  We have owned two other electric indoor grills and they both died after a year . We bought this grill two and half years ago and it is still going strong . It is large enough for a family of four ; no waiting ! The black plastic base seems a bit thin , but it stays cool in use . The grill surface is easier to clean than our other grills . My only real complaint is the water tray that goes under the grilling element is too shallow . The sides are not deep enough and it is hard to carry and empty without spilling . But despite that , we love this grill .
    • 061 4  I had read all of the reviews before I purchsed this grill and was a bit worried by what I read . This thing is awesome . I use it all the time . I havent had an issue with smoke and the grill is a good size , you can fit plenty of food and still use your counter top . I am extremely happy I bought this . My daughter and I have turned a new leaf this year as far as healthy habits and this grill makes it that much easier . The fat goes into the drip pan . And it is easy to clean too . Happy Customer !
    • 105 4  In Az where we live its usually too hot to go out and grill , at least for me , so I ordered this grill thinking it would be the next best thing . First I was surprised at how large it was , you can fix 6 - 8 hamburgers on it , 4 - 6 steaks , or whatever , its huge . It does not smoke up the house . Its just perfect , and I love it ! ! I use it almost every other night since I got it . I do not have to stand out in the heat , to enjoy my grilled food now . The clean up is a bit more difficult because you do have to hand wash the grill , with an outside one , you do not , but to enjoy the fine grilled food we are having it is well worth it . If your looking for a grill for the inside this is the one . Remember it is large though , and finding a spot to store it away may be an issue , but I leave it on the counter , so that has not been an issue yet .
    • 114 4  It is simple but reliable . I use it for barbeque . It is easy to control power .
    • 122 4  I have had this grill for about 4 weeks and I absolutely love it . I previously bought a George Foreman and the difference between them is the Sanyo prepares meat like it came from the outside barbecue grill . Steaks are absolutely delish ! And the clean-up is so simple . I read many of the reviews before I ordered this and thought , it can't be all that ! - but it truly is . I am so happy with my purchase . And Amazon has the absolute best price - free shipping if you don't have to have it in a hurry , I got mine in just about a week .
    • 126 4  This grill is great for those of us who don't have an outside grill . I grilled burgers on it and they taste almost like they we grilled the old fashioned way . My grilled vegetables came out perfect as well as my pork loin . The amount of space is nice to be able to fit meat and veggies or a selection of meat . For the money you cannot beat this item ! It cleans up very easily - if you have a small sink just maneuver it carefully and you won't make a mess . Always put water in the bottom pan - I have had very little smoke and it wasn't a nuisance .
    • 162 4  My wife uses this to broil and it works well . Temperature is easy to control and the surface is adequate for two big steaks or 4 pieces of fish . It does smoke a tiny bit but not enough to notice . Very easy to clean .
    • 176 4  I bought one for myself and one for my mom . My children saw them and tried mine and really like it . So I bought two more . I plan on buying one more for a christmas gift . They work really well . I have cooked steaks , chicken , shrimp and even roasted my peppers for my salsa . Works like a charm . Clean up is so easy . I really am glad I purchased this product .
    • 190 4  i love my indoor barbeque grile . i cook almost every day on mine and its great . this wood be great for anyone , dont have to worry about rain , to hot or being to cold . thanks nana

  • 014 4  Love this grill . There are three major parts to this grill , a lightweight plastic frame , the actual grill grate with the electric built into it , and the electric cord . There is also a lightweight drip tray . It amazed me that something so simple could cook food as well as my large propane Weber grill . I love that there is no gas to have to run to the store to get , love that I don't have to worry about not having enough gas to cook the meal . The food cooks perfectly . I start most things on high to sear the meat then turn it down with a result of tender on the inside and crisp on the out . Smoke / steam is minimal especailly if you spray the grill before you turn it on . It has ample grilling space without being crowded . I find it as easy to clean as any other pan I would cook with . I let the grill soak elevated in hot soapy water . Food tastes much better cooked on this than baked in an oven . I love mine !
    • 023 4  Wow , we're really enjoying this product . We were devistated when the element on our old Contempra electric grill went out . I was looking for one on ebay when I came across the Sanyo . I found it on Amazon.com at a much better price with free shipping . The grill size is great . The meat comes out so juicy and it's easier to clean than our old Contempra . We haven't barbecued outside since we started using this grill !
    • 050 4  This grill is great ! In all of the research that I had done prior to my purchase , the Sanyo had received the best reviews from Consumer Reports , etc . and I can definitely see why ! I was really surpised at the large size of the cooking area compared to other indoor grills that I have seen . I especially like that all of the components come apart for easy cleaning and storage . I also enjoy being able to armoatics to the drip pan below the grill plate to add extra flavor while cooking .
    • 101 4  I have had this grill for about a month now and we use it at least three to four times a week . We have grilled chicken , fish , steaks , burgers , veggies and even peaches and at no time have we ever had a problem with smoke or anything sticking to the grill itself . As long as you always put the water in the pan and remember to spray a small amount of cooking spray on the surface you should have no problem . Also be sure to clean the top and bottom of the grill after using . I suspect some of the people that have reviewed this product and have had a problem with smoke are not cleaning it properly and old grease is more than likely causing the smoke . I would highly recommend this grill to anyone . Especially those looking to eat healthier .

  • 021 4  This unit works well , I'm a single guy and cook the regular things , fish , chicken and steak . Food taste good but this unit does cause some smoke . I have a very large kitchen and found it hard to store because of it's size . I also find it concerning the grill never seems to truly achieve it's maxium temperature of 425 . It has an indicator light letting you know when it's reached the proper temp and it never seems to get that hot . I've left it on for 20 mins or so and it appears to reach about 400 degrees farnheit . It's still great for cooking just curious why it never gets as hot as the controls claim . Then again , my car speedometer says I can go 140 and I've never seen it go that fast . Also , you have fill the bottom tray with water to control grease and smoke but the pan is very shallow so emptying the water when you are done requires the skill of a egg tossing champion or skilled balance beam artist . I recommend cooking close to your sink . DO NOT OVERFILL WITH WATER or you will need a mop . Cleaning the grill itself was a bit challanging , think of your outdoor grill and how all the BBQ sauce gets wedged in between the bars and you need a brush to really scrub it . It's not as rough as this but comparable . They recommend using a cooking spray but I say use it sparingly or it causes just as much clean up as a tangy BBQ sauce . I also wish the grill itself was dishwasher safe . Hey I'm a single guy , I like simple things . Overall , good unit , good food , GREAT price . Just make sure you can store it because it's big .
    • 041 4  It works well and with the adjustable thermostate , you can cook at almost any temperature . If you think you need a cover , simply invert one of the long aluminum pans over it and you have a cover which shortens cooking time . The only complaint is there was no instruction booklet of any type with it offering advice on cooking / cleaning . Suggestion : Spray top AND BOTTOM SIDE of grill with cooking spraybfor easier cleanup . DO NOT use olive oil to coat grill if you are planning to cook at a reasonable high temp , it burns
    • 130 4  OK , so maybe awesome is a little bit strong but I am very happy with my new grill . I was looking for one that worked as well as my outdoor gas grill for flavor and texture and the Sanyo does ! I had a different grill many years earlier that also worked well but finally wore out . Other models i've tried just didn't cook like an outdoor grill . Living on the central CA coast , I CAN bar-b-que year round but sometimes it's too cold or dark outside to bother . If anything , the meats i've grilled on the Sanyo might actually have a slightly BETTER taste and texture than my gas grill , and cooking time is about the same . And no flare-ups ! It really is almost smoke-free grilling , though I still use my stove-top fan just in case . Only negative thing I can think of is it's a little bigger than I expected and I have to kinda re-arrange things to use it where I want to . But I DID order the family-size model ( Sanyo does offer a slightly smaller model ) . All in all very happy and look forward to many years of use ! PS - I only gave it 4 stars because I think there is always room for improvement . . .
    • 143 4  It is a freezing Jan . evening in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts and I just grilled the best steak ever . . . INSIDE ! Yes , I cooked 5 gorgeous , tender , tasty , perfectly grilled steaks in my warm cozy house while the wind screached around my bulky outdoor grill . Oh , the wonders of this indoor Sanyo grill ! It is huge . . . big enough to wonder how in heck you are going to store it , but also big enough to cook a bunch of steaks and veggies ! Thank you Sanyo for creating a ( semi ) . . ( put it on the stove under the stove fan ) . . not a crazy amount of smoke but not entirely smokeless grill for me to enjoy indoors . . . Thank you , Thank you , Thank you !

  • 022 4  I love this grill . The cooking surface is big enough to grill for a family of 3 , the temp is even and as long as you remember the water in the base it is nearly smokeless . The only drawback is it does take a long time to preheat , then again not much longer than it would take for the coals to be ready , so I Guess this way you get the WHOLE Barbecue experienced .
    • 134 4  THIS GRILL IS AMAZING FOR INDOOR GRILLING ! I MAKE CHOPS , HANGARS , AND SKIRTS ! ! ! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ! ! ! NOW I BE CHILLEN LIKE A BOBBA FLAY ! ! HIP-HOP-HOOOOORAY ! ! !

  • 039 4  The Sanyo grill is wonderful . The cooking times are just like our outdoor grill . It is easy to use and clean . The food taste's great . We use it 2 - 3 times per week . I was skeptical at first because the price is so affordable compared to the other grills , but I highly recommend it . As far as the smoke goes , we use a light spray just before we put the food on it and there is just a SLIGHT amount of smoke . You can barely see it for the first several seconds , you really have to look hard to even see it . I love this grill and so does my husband . We have had friends over and cooked steaks on it for them and they said it taste's like they came from a top knotch restaurant .
    • 192 4  I think the indoor grill is great , it meets all of my expectations , I have recommended it to friends . I know of 1 person who ordered , she is completely satisfied .

  • 066 4  Easy clean up indoor grill , Sinple to use , Heats up Fast , Gives good results . Only problem with my unit is that the indicator light is supposed to go out when the desired temperature is reached . It doesn't ! The use and care book could give more information and recipes , rather than the very sparse book provided . Look at the George Forman grill which are provided with a good booklet . But overall , a good choice .
    • 070 4  Given best in show by Cooks Illustrated . Ordered for July 4th . Got with broken temperature control unit , quickly replaced by seller . Able to use twice before July 4th , out on balcony . With rain , used indoors on July 4th . Amazingly fast cooking - grilling , but not true ( multihour ) barbeque . Food was delicious with rare to med-well all easy to prepare ( no one wanted welldone ) . Moderate spatter , easily controlled with cookie sheets vertically situated . Cleanup a breeze . Size is huge : a 1 - 1 / 2 lb steak plus ( 6 ) 6oz burgers at one time . Buy it and enjoy !
    • 196 4  For condo living , this grill is the greatest ! It is a healthy alternative to grilling as we know it .

  • 081 4  I considered giving this only 4 stars , but had to consider that it's not an outdoor grill with a cover , and it's not going to perform exactly like one . The only issues are that it takes about 15 - 20 minutes to heat up to full heat , and it takes a bit longer to cook most things . Again the main reason is because it is an indoor grill with no cover to contain the heat . However , all things considered , the grill is PLENTY large enough , I haven't used the entire grill and I've cooked for 6 people on this thing in one go . The grill IS smokeless , the only slight smoke that appears is right when marinated meat hits it , for about 5 seconds , then no more smoke . Cleanup is is a breeze . . . if only I had a bigger sink though . . . The drip pan can be a little tricky taking it to the sink when filled with water and grease , but I grill right near my sink now so no worries anymore . All in all , if looking for a convenient way to grill inside if the weather is bad or you live in an apartment with covered patios and fire codes / regulations , this grill is a great alternative !
    • 099 4  I was very pleased with this grill . I found heating time very short by covering grill while heating with a cookie sheet , and placing water in bottom tray as instructed saved a lot of smoke and cleanup . It is well worth the money spent on this grill .
    • 108 4  It is not completely smokeless but its pretty good considering there should be more smoke with grilling anything . I use this product once a week , we sit around the dining table with prepared meats , seafood , and veggies with various dipping sauces and cook onthe spot . Highly recommended espceially at the sale price .
    • 112 4  This is a great indoor grill for use when you can't grill outdoors . It's a good size and works well . I love it
    • 157 4  Got it as a gift for my uncle . He loves it , he barbeque's every night now ! His food is better than ever and I just can't wait till he cooks again .
    • 179 4  I purchased this indoor grill about a month ago , and I absolutely love it . I can get get so much food on it at one time . Its grills perfectly , and my Husband absolutely loves the grill marks . I would recommend this to anyone who loves grilled food . I plan to make kabobs next .

  • 124 4  It works , just as advertised . I've used it a fair amount so far and none of the non-stick coating has came off the grill , which has been a problem in the past with my foreman grills . It's very easy to put together , heats up quickly , and comes apart nicely to wash . My one complaint is that the silver metal pan used to catch the grease under the grill is extremely flimsy . You're supposed to pour in some water to keep it from burning , then there is obviously grease in there too from the meat that was cooked . So , it's not easy to walk over to the sink and dump out this greasy water without spilling it everywhere . That's a big pain . The metal pan also isn't very deep at all , so the grease water is nearly full when you're done cooking . It takes quite a balancing act to get to the sink without spilling it . Other than that , everyone is great . Hopefully the next generation will come out with some improvements to the silver pan , as well as some extras . A timer would be nice , so would an optional small plate to put over the grill to scramble eggs or cook veggies and heat buns . They should throw in a free food thermostate too to make sure everything is done . That would be a nice touch for future grills . But , this one is pretty good and an excellent price . Also , unlike what some others have said , there is very little smoke if you follow the directions and fill the pan with some water .
    • 141 4  This is a nice grill . Easy to clean . Works well . Only thing I don't care about it is that its so big-which is nice if you are grilling a lot of things or pieces are big , but storage is another thing . It comes apart so you have to be careful how you carry it and I store it in a cabinet downstairs , not in my kitchen . Other than that , its great . . .
    • 158 4  I bought this grill to replace my George Foreman grill after many years and this new grill is better in many ways . So far I have grilled burgers , fish , chicken and veggies and have had great results . It doesn't cook on both sides like the Foreman Grill but it allows grilling multiple items of varried thickness at the same time , which is a major plus . Easy to clean , large grilling area and the price are a major plus .

  • 132 4  I live in an apartment in Seattle , and I miss my outdoor barbeque ! This is a little more work , but it works great ! I recommend covering with foil if you cook chicken , so it seals in some extra heat . This will make it cook faster . Also , don't forget to spray with non-stick , and clean it right away . It's huge , so it is great if you are cooking for a lot of people . Great for kabobs and seafood too . I have always put a layer of foil on the drip pan before putting in the water , and it still looks brand new . Great value for the price .
    • 032 4  I * love * this grill but it needs a top to hold in heat and to make it cook faster . We have used it grill everything from chicken to fish and it does a very good job . The surface is big enough to hold several pieces of meat to feed a family of four . It really needs a top though , and if you can tolerate the smoke in your kitchen and imagine that it's the smell of an outdoor barbeque , you'll love the grill
    • 076 4  The Sanyo grill has been perfect for grilling indoors since we've had to move into a travel trailer after Hurricane Katrina . The grill taste / quality is much the same as outdoor grilling and this unit is very easy to clean .
    • 111 4  This is the best indoor electric grill I have found . It's the closest thing to a charcoal girll as I can find . I have tried other electric grills and usually found they don't get hot enough and the food always looked gray . This one sears the meat perfectly and keeps the juice in . The meat comes out tender and looks terrific .
    • 193 4  I've only used this for steaks so far - but it's great ! As long as you put water in the pan , there is very little if any smoke . Steaks come out great and cook in no time . . It also heats up very quickly - and clean up is very easy . I highly recommend this grill !
    • 200 4  I love my new grill ! I miss my outdoor grill so much during the winter , and this is a great substitute . It's not exactly smokeless , but if you use it on your stovetop and use the vent above , it's not too bad . I have found thin cuts of meat work best , as thicker ones don't cook so well in the center .

  • 137 4  received today , comes with 4 pieces , the plastic black outer holder , the cord , the heating unit ( top is coated nonstick , bottom is bare , no coat ) and the aluminum tray underneath to hold the drips . I'd plugged this in and it heated up immediately , placed my meat on top and all around and it started sizzling . even cooking all around , heated properly and cooked the meat evenly . I thought it was smokeless but there were smokes from it . which covered the kitchen and crept upstairs . I'd opened the window , turned on the exhaust , and it took away most of the smoke / smell . The spoke wasn't bad overall but it definitely is not smokeless . I cooked about 5lbs of korean bbq meat and the temperature kept its heat evenly . it did not lose the heat at all . i'd poured some water into the dripping tray below so the drips didn't stick to the tray . The only drawback was from the residue of the meat / sauce which created a hard black burnt seal over the grill . I had to continue to remove these and was more concerned with the carcinogen . It sticks to the meat and had to be scraped off . Once I'm done , I washed it off with soap and water and a plastic brush . Everything came off easily except for the underpart of the grill where there was no nonstick coating . Otherwise I'm very happy with this . Very spacious , even heating , and easily to clean / store . I wish they had made a lid for this which would be extremely beneficial if you need to slow cook / steam your food . Overall it is great and I really love this . So far so good I will update more later .
    • 006 4  I read the review about how long it takes to preheat this grill , well being a full time chef ( aa culinary arts ) and over 20 years in the industry , I have used many different types of grills , and in most cases when I needed it to heat up quickly we would just place a sheet pan over it and it decreased the startup time significantly . Well I found a aluminum baking pan which fit this grill perfectly , the metal does not come in contact with the plastic base , and it took only 4 minutes to reach the high setting . I used a litte non stick spray and placed 2 , 1 inch thick lamb chops on it and it seared them perfectly and quickly , placed the cover ( pan ) back over them , waited about 3 minutes , turned them over , and grilled another 2 minutes and they were well done . Totoal time grill was on 10 minutes . Now lamb is about the greasiest meat and I did get a little smoke , but that was only when the searing was taking place , and with the cover very little splatter also . I think if they could the would make a cover for this unit , but it would probably not pass U.L . standards ? Not sure but if you are using this grill as with other appliances you must keep a close eye on them . I got this item next day with amazon prime total was only 34 bucks . Great deal and product .
    • 008 4  Previously used indoor grills created too much smoke to be used indoors . There is no smoke with the Sanyo grill .
    • 020 4  I live an an apartment that has a kitchen vent that recirculates the air back into the room . I ordered this unit hoping I could grill food and that it would be smokeless . Not so . This unit produces less smoke , but it still smokes . Interestingly the box does not say smokeless . I gave it 3 stars because it does a great job cooking the food . A couple of reviewers mentioned the problems with emptying the drip tray . I also experienced this . To resolve this problem , I lined the inside of the base and drip pan with heavy duty aluminum foil . This creates a drip pan that is 2 deep . Problem solved . I returned this unit to Amazon . Wish I could have kept it but it did not work for my situation .
    • 024 4  I researched online for weeks before buying an indoor grill . I thought about going with a more expensive model , like DeLonghii , but bought the Sanyo . I really , really wanted to love this , but there were two big problems : ( 1 ) it didn't seem to get hot enough to really grill the food , and , more important ( 2 ) the coating on the drip pan started peeling off within 5 uses . Within 10 uses , at least 50% of the coating had peeled , and we decided that we shouldn't continue to use it anymore . I emailed the manufacturer through Amazon , and the manufacturer said to send the item back and let them know the tracking number . It took me awhile to get the item posted back to them , but it's been a couple weeks , and I've heard nothing . Bottom line - I'm saving up for something more durable , probably the DeLonghii .
    • 028 4  I like the grill because it is simple to use and simple to clean . Also I like a big enough surface to cook for the company and free shipping . Thank you Amazon .
    • 029 4  After having this unit for about 6 months , I can say that it will not replace the outdoor grill , or the indoor frying pan , but I guess I had high expectations . Still , the grill works , and I'll use it when in a pinch . Cons : I think the biggest detriment is the lack of a lid . Without one , the grill takes a about 15 minutes to cook 1 / 4 patties of ground beef on the highest setting . I've improvised , and have been using the lid from my portable Weber gas grill and it helps significantly . Finally , I have found that the grill is anything but smoke free , and produces a lot of smoke and odor . Pros : The price for this grill is outstanding . It heats up pretty quickly , and is easy to take apart and clean .
    • 044 4  I live in an old house with no yard . An outdoor grill was out of the question . Now I can cook the recipes that call for grilling right in my kitchen . Here's an SAT question . The next number in the series 200 , 250 , 300 . . . is ? If you said 425 , you're right . If you want to set the temperature anywhere between 300 and 425 , you won't have any tics on the dial . You'll have to interpolate and quess . I must have guessed right when I cooked the burgers . But I wish the dial were bigger and allowed more precise temperature settings . If you follow the helpful little guidebook and use an instant-read thermometer , you should get good results . I like to stop cooking maybe 10 degrees shy of the recommended internal temperature . I think some lawyer made the people who list internal cook temperatures for various meats add 10 degrees to avoid liability over food-borne illnesses . If you want to not be surprised by the large footprint of this grill , cut a piece of paper 14.5 x 23.5 . It's like three legal-sized sheets of paper side by side . If I could I would give it a 4.5 , because I don't find it so easy to clean . But I wouldn't want to do without it . Note from a life-long South Carolinian : I don't see what this grill has to do with barbecue . Edit , July 22 , 2009 . They started offering a smaller size , which will be convenient in many kitchens with limited space .
    • 049 4  The Grill takes too long to cook any basic meat - maybe to roast veggies , but that's about it - if you expect to feed a party or to grill stakes - this is not your grill - it will take forever and it will not cook - also this grill does not have a lid - which dries the meat too much .
    • 062 4  The product is exactly as advertised - virtually smokeless indoor grill . We use ours for Korean barbecue every week . We cook meats and vegetables at the table and then dip in sauces and roll up in lettuce leaves . Great non-stick surface - very easy to clean . Avoid marinating in sweet sauces though since that will create some smoke and a mess on the grill . Better to do a simple marinade ( if any at all ) and then dip in sauce afterwards . Overall - an excellent indoor grill .
    • 063 4  Anyone who complains about a $40 grill this big having cheap plastic parts is missing the point entirely . I dropped the power plug within the first few days and the temperature dial broke , but that's my fault for dropping it . After a while I just got used to figuring out how exactly to adjust the temperature without the dial . I have never had any of the plastic parts melt on me . This thing is enormous and is low enough on the smoke ( depending on what I'm cooking ) not to choke me in my tiny apartment . The most important aspect of it of course is how well it cooks , which is great . You just can't beat it for the price and the size .
    • 079 4  The grill is great when the weather is not . It heats evenly and the temperature can be easily adjusted . If you line the bottom pan with foil it is very easy to clean up .
    • 090 4  After reading many reviews from several different venues , I decided on this Sanyo 200 sq . inch grill and I am glad I did ! Lots of cooking space , great temperature control , and very little smoke . Grilled some veggies , as well as several meats and they all turned out very tasty ! Nice to have when the temperature is below 0 , like now ! I would caution anyone to only add enough water to cover the pan underneath , because unless you are cooking right next to your sink , it is easy to spill . I waited until it cooled down and soaked most of it up with a couple paper towels , so I didn't spill any taking the unit to the sink to clean . It is fairly simple to clean up , too . If you want a lot of great grilling inside and easy , you won't find a better grill for a better price !
    • 091 4  This grill is absolutely great ! The first two weeks we had it we grilled hamburgers and steaks every other night . It's easy to use and easy to clean ( although it is a hand-wash item ) . Granted , the thermostat control is not the most refined or exact ever , but it really does work well . For many months , I had my eye on another much more expensive electric grill . It was hard to believe a grill this inexpensive could be a quality product and actually work . But I took a chance and it has been a quick , easy to use grill which we use to cook for a family of four . We use it under our existing kitchen stove overhead fan , which complements it perfectly . I happily recommend this grill , and if I needed another one I would not hesitate to order this model . I anticpate doing alot of grilling over the winter , which I could not do as easily outdoors with the gas grill .
    • 095 4  I recently purchased this grill and it is quite large ( nice size ) . After reading the full time chef's review in regard to this item , I took his advice and used a cookie sheet and placed it over the grill ( didn't touch the plastic base ) during heat up time and over the steaks while cooking . It worked GREAT ! ! Heating time to 350 degrees was no more than 5 minutes and cooking time 10 minutes as the chef stated . Cooks nice and even . The steaks were perfect . I would certainly recommend this grill to anyone . You won't be disappointed .
    • 107 4  I came across this grill ( or one looked like it ) on Martha Stewart show when one of her guest grilled the steak and it looked so good . It gave me the idea for simple & painless indoor grilling . I did some research and finally ordered this light weight Sanyo grill from Amazon for my condo in Hawaii . I loved it , and now I'm thinking about to order a second one for my other house . I had a couple of friends over for dinner last night , saw it , loved it , and they came home ordered one too . It gave out very little smoke if you remember to fill the tray with water . Cleaning is very easy , just soap & water & sponge . The dial is little difficult to read when you're doing dozen things at once but really no big deal for me , I just fooled around a bit and got it to the right temperature . Nothing is perfect anyway , definitely it's the best value you can find out there . Buy it .
    • 113 4  this grill is just perfect for an apartment . its large surface provides plenty of room for all your grilling needs . you put a little water in the bottom & there is hardly any smoke at all.cool to the touch handles & easy clean up make this grill number one . it's one of the few products out there that does exactly what it advertises it will do . i also love the adjustable thermostat - - no more cooking food too fast ! if i had the money , i would buy another one .
    • 116 4  It is below freezing outside and we just cooked sausages and even grilled hot dog buns . This grill does a great job , and save the smokey flavor you get with an outdoor grill , the finished product is excellent . Seriously , there's nothing quite like having a barbeque in the middle of January when you live in central New York State . I gave this 5 stars , but would rather have given it 4.51 stars - - as others have mentioned , cleaning the grill is easy , but you have to work a little harder at getting absolutely everything off - - but hey , you wouldn't clean an outdoor barebeque until it shined , so maybe it's no big deal after all .
    • 117 4  I love this product - so easy to use , simple to clean and completely smoke free . What a great way to have grilled food without a grill .
    • 128 4  This grill was way better than expected for the price . I was suprised that it cooked evenly . Also if u follow the directions and place water in the pan it will not smoke . I was pleased with the size it seemed smaller in the picture . Great if your grilling for 5 - 6 people
    • 145 4  We purchased this unit as an alternative to the George Forman grill we've had for several years . The main reason , the G.F . weighs a ton . They are not comparable so I will focus on the Sanyo . I've used it several times and I like it . It's extremely light weight and takes up little counter space when in use . The drip pan is a plus but just a bit too shallow . A little deeper would make it easier to get that water to the sink . It does take a good 20 minutes or so to get to full heat and since you are cooking on one side ( without a hood ) a 1 piece of meat will take a while . I have to agree with some of the reviewers that claim that the grilling surface tends to gum up . I'm experimenting with different oils to see which one works best . That said , we use it at least once a week and overall we are quite satisfied with the product especially for the price .
    • 150 4  Unlike older styles with the heating element under the grill , this sanyo SG3 has a non stick grill that is the heating element . Less parts , less to cleanup , I thought great idea and bought one . On my first try I already notice the flaw ; The food has to touch the grill to cook properly . Any food that curls will be a problem to cook properly . Anything thats thin and flat cooks fine . If this product pumped out more heat it would be perfect .
    • 155 4  It is big enough to cook all the food at the same time and it is easy to clean up . However , it takes about 20 minutes to reach desired temparture .
    • 159 4  Sanyo has really set the bar high with this one ! As a father of two little ones I am cooking all of the time and as anyone with kids knows that time is a rare commodity . After cooking up Mac & cheese with green beans for the 14th day in a row , I'm finally able to break the monotony and make something good for a change . Winters are long and I don't like going outside when its 5 degrees , even to grill . This grill from sanyo is definately a lifesaver in our home . Unlike other kitchen appliances that notoriously sit in a cabinet for months on end , this is becoming a permanent fixture . It heats up fast and any smoke coming from it is a non issue , unless your burning your food . In short , this is a well built , high quality machine that I would not do without . Way to go Sanyo ! ! ! !
    • 163 4  I did a lot of comparison shopping between various indoor grills . I was looking for a grill that was easy to clean after use and also grilled food like it was barbequed outdoors . After reading numerous , positive comments about the grill , I ordered it . We tried the Sanyo grill for the first time tonight . We grilled steaks on it and they were superb ! They tasted just as good as those cooked on the grill . The grill is large and rectangular in size . It includes a drip tray , which covers the entire length of the grill . Before grilling , the removable drip tray , which fits inside the bottom of the base , is covered with water . Then the non-stick grill is added on top . Before cooking , the grill surface is coated with cooking spray . There is a detachable temperature control unit , which can be set to the desired temperature for the food that is being cooked ( A cooking guide is included ) . The unit heated up quickly with no electrical smell . We placed the steaks on the grill and were pleasantly surprised that hardly any smoke was emitted during the grilling time . Also , no grease splashed up . The unit cooled off quickly once it was turned off . The grill was very easy to clean . Everything could be washed with soapy water . I highly recommend this product and plan to purchase another as a gift .
    • 171 4  Used grill for first time , did not take long to heat up ( quicker than my deepfryer ) , easy clean-up and little to no smoke for burgers . However , if you are single or a couple , this grill may be too big , get the SG2 which is smaller . I cooked four burgers and it is really to big for that .
    • 195 4  Had for almost two years now ( came on to review a more recent purchase , forgot I had purchased this on Amazon ) . Great , compact indoor grill . Enough surface area to compete with the outdoor gas grill ( cooking for a family of four anyway ) , nearly as good as cooked outdoors . Easy to clean , a little harder to store ( on top of fridge at present ) .

  • 160 4  I purchased this grill because we don't have an outside one . I wish I would have taken its size into consideration before I bought it - I have to store it on top of the fridge ! It is light and isn't very complicated at all . The grill lifts off of the base and drip pan . The temp gauge is easy to read ; you just turn it like a dial . It doesn't take very long to heat up . I enjoy having it as an option to cook with . The only dislikes I have are that it is a pain to clean IMO , and it smokes a little so I have to keep the kitchen fan on while using it . Still , knowing what I know now I would purchase it again .
    • 013 4  I was really surprized when it arrived , it was really big ! which is excellent for me , i like how the tray comes apart , it will make it easier to clean than my last eletric grill , i suggest if your looking for a good deal , you have found it !
    • 064 4  I bought this product to replace an old presto electric grill . I was very pleased its light weight cooks great and easy clean up .
    • 071 4  Love this grill ! ! It is large and easy to use . Just wish it was dishwasher safe even though it is pretty easy to clean . . . . now I need a bigger sink ! ! ! ! !
    • 073 4  I have been using indoor grills since Farberware came out with them . Wish they still made them , but this is certainly a great substitute . Only bad thing about it is the size . You need a big sink to clean it , yet it cleans very easily . I would definitely buy another grill like this , when I wear this one out . Use it at least once a day and it does a super super job . AND , Amazon did a fantastic job in getting my grill shipped to me in record time .
    • 139 4  I have purchased many indoor griddles over the years . This is the very BEST I have ever cooked on . I prepared Beef Fillets on it last week , they were as good as if I had cooked them outside on the grill ! Great job Sanyo ! D Carter

  • 177 4  I love this grill . Don't pay attention to the comments saying it takes long to heat up or smokes . It's easy to clean and I line the bottom pan where you put the water , with foil making it even easier to clean . When you wash the grill make sure to clean under it , this could be the reason some say it smokes , but it does not smoke or smell up the house . If there is a reason you want to cover the food while cooking use a large foil pan , like a turkey roasting pan . You will be so happy and never use your outside grill again . It's huge so you will need the space for it on the counter . I place mine on my cook-top , and store it in the bottom oven of my double wall oven. It's really great .
    • 042 4  I am very impressed with this neat little grill . It is large enough to cook a family dinner on and it is smokeless with the water in the bottom tray . While the drip tray is very shallow , I solved this problem by using a baster to suction most of the water out of the tray . Then it was easy to just dump the rest . If you try and move the tray without taking the water out , you will have a mess . The baster works great to take care of the problem . I am very happy with this grill and will use it often .
    • 072 4  I found the grill to be a good substitute for outdoor cooking . My only objection was that some foods seem to take much longer to be complete . I loved it for steaks but not for chicken or pork as it semed to never be completely done . all in all I do like the product
    • 103 4  I bought this grill so we can do korean bbq inside . There was little to no smoke at all . When the food is put on the grill , you will see a little smoke coming from the grill while it cooks the meat . We didn't need to open any fans . All we did was keep all the windows open . Everyone loved the grill . My mother-in-law wanted one after she saw it .
    • 191 4  Where I live I am not allowed to have an outdoor grill so I have tried many but I really like this one . Yes it takes up alot of space and yes you need to have your exhust fan on but with all of that I would buy another one if needed . I grilled chicken on it last night and it wasn't as hard to clean as I thought it would have been . The grilling part I just took a towel after it had cooled down . I didn't want it super clean . I sorta wanted it seasoned like my grill was . So I am very happy about it .

  • 181 4  This will not replace a good quality gas or charcoal grill , but I can not imagine anyone buying this would think that it would . Our current condo does not have a patio or a deck so this was a great option that we use several times a week . Oiling the surface with grape seed oil before putting on any meat keeps it from sticking . You do have to move things around a bit as there are some cold spots over some of the seams . I have cooked everything from vegetables to beef to fish to lamb and all work equally as well . It heats up about as fast as it takes a gas grill to get hot and ready to use . Moving the water pan can be a pain if you do not think ahead and have the grill near a sink or place to dump the water . I would highly recommend this as an option if you don't have a place for an outdoor grill .
    • 175 4  Our son borrowed the first grill we purchased & loved it . We knew if we wanted to use it at our convience , we needed to buy another . Great grill & great price !

  • 198 4  Have only used the electric grill once , but enjoyed it . Seared the meat nicely , tho took longer than on charcoal grill . Even got the sear marks on the meat . . . which psychologically , seems to makes the meat taste better . The water in the plater underneath the grill seems to capture any smoke , as well as taking in the grease from the meat . Cleaning the pan was easy . Cleaning the grilling area easy . Would recommend the pan for winter use when an outside grill not convenient . Better than pan frying and only a little more effort in clean up . Does a better job than the George Foreman Grills .
    • 186 4  Having used it several times now it is great for indoor cooking . Can not tell the difference between it and using a gas grill outdoors .
    • 194 4  Have used the grill three times so far . Works great . Big cooking surface and it heats evenly . Have no complaints at all . Great price , too .

  • 199 4  This has to be the best indoor grill I've ever used . I live in an apartment in nyc and I love grilling but don't have some place I can grill outside so I have no choice but to grill indoors . I particularly love Korean BBQ and some Korean BBQ tends to create LOTS of smoke . LOTS of smoke . It's not like grilling a steak or chicken because of all the marination some of these meets have . Before this grill , when grilling , I used to open up all my windows , had all sorts of ventilation fans running , and take all the smoke detectors out . I've used all kinds of portable grills before , even others that you can put water into under the grill , to minimize smoke , but I still had to open all the windows and go through all the effort of taking out the smoke detectors , etc . On the other hand , the Sanyo grill does such a fantastic job that I don't even have to take out my smoke detectors or open the windows because of smoke . Of course , I'll open my windows to air out my place but more because I don't want barbeque smell lingering , then for the smoke . I just love this grill and my guests appreciate it as well . Forget other grills , this is the best .
    • 048 4  It is great . I had my first indoor BBQ with it Saturday . No smoke , the meat is done properly . The temp control is precisely . I like it .
    • 052 4  We love this grill , it's handy , easy to clean , easy to store and makes great food . We have no complaints and wish we'd had it sooner . It's used 2 - 3 times a week and never disappoints . We've made chicken , steaks , burgers , veggies , most anything you can do on a BBQ .
    • 074 4  I purchased this grill Jan 06 ' because I wanted to BBQ in doors . I read all reviews and felt that this product would do the job . I was correct , it's great for steak , pork , chicken , hamburger and hotdogs . Clean up is easy and I never have to use my oven . I place the grill in the middle of my stove and it's very safe . Sanyo has made a great product at a very good price .
    • 178 4  This is the second Sanyo grill that I've purchased . They BBQ the meat perfectly , and the drip pan is easy to clean afterwards . Rain or shine I know I can BBQ at a moments notice .

  • just soapy warm water and dry ! The grill consists of three pieces : a metal grill , a sheet metal oil drip pan , and a plastic base . The base does feel a little insubstantial , but the whole thing , put together , is quite sturdy . The 200 in ^ 2 cooking surface is good for a family of up to four . I also loved the price : I never imagined I could have a quality indoor grill for such a low price . ( Thanks to Amazon , too ? ) This is probably what tilted me to the five-star rating . The grill , made in China , is of pretty good build quality , and looks like it'll last a long time . The price and value just can't be beat . Above all , the grill really gives you delicious BBQ food ! I've grilled steaks , pork chops , burgers , franks , chicken breasts , chicken legs , chicken wings , vegetables , and more , and * each and every time * the food came out absolutely delicious . For example , I bought 2 pounds of semi-boneless rib steaks at Shaw's for ten bucks . I sprayed the grill with some oil spray , pre-heat the grill to 350 F degrees ( which took about 20 minutes ) , and then grilled the steaks ( together with a couple burger patties and some green peppers ) for about 15 or 16 minutes to well-done . Then my family enjoyed a delicious steak meal . Not counting the cost of the grill itself , but including electricity ( the grill is rated at 1300W ) , the whole meal came to less than $15 for four full-sized adults ! Imagine if we had eaten out at a steakhouse ; the last time I went to a steakhouse in Manhattan , I had to shell out over $80 per person , with no appetitizer ordered and only tap water ! In fact , I found my own grilled steaks ( served with Diet Coke bought on sale ) even better . Even if the Sanyo had gone meet its makers after this one meal , I'd have more than broken even on the meal , compared to any restaurant that serves steaks . So I'm really thrilled about the value and the quality of the food . Now , why not a full-hearted five stars ? Well , because this is a low-cost product , there are a couple items that I dislike . One , the thermostat is a joke ; it has temperature ranges like 200 - 250 and 300 - 425 but doesn't give you exact markers , so you have to guess where to turn the knob to in order to preheat to 325 . Not a big deal after a few tries , and I seem to get it right ( more or less ) each time even though I'd never operated a grill , indoor or outdoor , before . Two , cooking time is not short , period . Preheating to 300 takes about 15 minutes and to 425 takes over 20 minutes . Cooking itself takes between 10 and 20 minutes depending on what you cook and the meat's thickness . Also , the cooking time seems to vary with room temperature . Three , more important , this grill is not completely smokeless . The oil spray will give out the most smoke , although it hasn't set off our smoke alarm yet . ( I keep the doors and kitchen windows open when cooking . ) In fact , I don't think any open grill can give you smokeless cooking . As long as you have oil heated to over 300 degrees , you will get smoke . Please keep this in mind if you live in a meticulously maintained house and cannot stand any grill smoke . But all in all , I love this grill . I'd gladly buy another one any time . While grilled meat may not be healthy , this grill cooks yummy BBQ meat and veggies and saves me tons of money . I recommend this grill .
    • 004 4  All considered , I decided to give this Sanyo indoor grill a 5 - star rating . It's probably more like 4.5 stars , but Amazon doesn't allow that . I'll explain . On the plus side , I really like the simplicity of this grill . It's also light-weight , registering a little under seven pounds , which means it's easy to move around - no breaking your back ! It's also quite easy to clean : just soapy warm water and dry ! The grill consists of three pieces : a metal grill , a sheet metal oil drip pan , and a plastic base . • 009 4  I've had this grill for one week now , and I'm perfectly satisfied . Someone was complaining about the base being cheap plastic that melts , and that it's impossible to move the grill without spilling the water in the grease pan . Well , you're not supposed to move the grill when it's assembled ! And not enough heat reaches the base to make it melt . Others gave a one star rating because the grill is too big . . . maybe it's a good idea to check the dimensions before buying something ! The dimensions provided in the description are accurate , so you can't say it was a surprise . Smoke : no miracle will completely prevent the formation of smoke when you place something that contains grease on a hot surface . The amount of smoke obviously depends on what you're cooking , but I've found that if you follow the directions and have the grill in a well ventilated room , the smoke is not even enough to stick on your clothes , and it surely doesn't trigger the fire alarm . Cleaning : if you have a big sink , just put the grill in a hot soapy water bath while you're eating ( don't wait until it cools down ) and then a damp cloth will do the rest in 5 minutes . Much easier than other grills you are forced to let cool down before cleaning them ( those surfaces you can't even remove while they're still hot ) . Long cooking time : I cook my burgers ( and I love thick ones ) for 7 minutes at 350 ° , and they're perfect ( for me . . . must say that I like them still pink inside ) . As for the time required to heat up , it's enough to allow me all of the preparations like slicing vegetables and marinating meat . Overall in half an hour start to finish I have a complete meal for two ( one vegetarian and one carnivore ) and I don't have to cook twice if I want to eat meat . The cooking surface does have some hot spots , but if you're wise enough to place on those spots things that need longer cooking time then you can turn it to your advantage . And it's as close as I can get to the BBQ flavor , without the hassle of a BBQ .
    • 011 4  Given the great reviews this grill has , I was really excited to order it and have way to grill in my small apartment . The first few times I just made burgers , and all seemed well . . . but as I grilled more steaks and chicken , the weaknesses of this grill really came out . Let's start with the smokeless claim . . . it is smokeless , up to a point . At the lower temperatures , it does seem to be fairly smokeless , but I found that these temperatures were just too low for me . I cook ( and especially grill ) with high heat , so I crank this when cooking steaks or other meats . Two problems emerged : not enough heat and too much smoke . Both were unacceptable . Now cleaning . . . I grew to despise cleaning this device so much after just a few uses . Sure , the top is a nonstick surface , but the underside of the grill surface is where all the grilled-on gunk accumulates . I tried all kinds of scrubbers and brushes , but nothing could get out all the burnt on mess . And if you don't scrape and scrub every little bit out then , you guessed it , the grill pours out smoke the next time you use it as these little bits burn . I've moved on to a new apartment where I can have a little Weber Q , which I truly love , so the Sanyo grill will never see another day of action . Bottom line : even if you're an apartment dweller who can't have a grill , I still think you're better off cooking your burgers and steaks right on the stove top .
    • 016 4  We're thinking the old BBQ out on the patio has met it's match . This grill is fantastic . . . the fact that all the grease drips into the water below makes for quick clean ups . There truly is virtually no smoke , and with 200 square inches of cooking space there is no need to crowd the food . We highly recommend this particular grill ( and we are tough critics ) .
    • 017 4  This item has quickly become one of our most frequently used items in our kitchen and at around $40 it is one heck of a bargain and well worth the money . I was never a huge fan of the George Foreman due to the hassles in cleaning the old ones where the grill surface was not removable . It's what caused me to finally toss the thing . This Sanyo indoor grill is far easier to use and clean and at a cost of about ½ the usual price of a comparable Foreman grill . First of all it's large enough to fit about a dozen good sized burgers , or a like amount of boneless chicken breast halves or 4 - 6 good steaks . The grill heats up quickly and cooks very well and leaves those great grill marks you love to see in food . Feel free to slap on BBQ sauce or marinades as it has a wonderful non-stick grill surface that cleans up in a snap . The juices drip into a drip pan that you can fill with water to eliminate smoke , and make the cleanup even easier . Or hey , don't put water in it to capture some of that smoke from the dripping to enhance the taste . Easy to use , easy to clean up , and affordable . What more can you possibly ask for ? It comes with a small recipe guide to boot . A great item for the kitchen . Highly recommended ! Reviewed by Tim Janson
    • 025 4  I bought this grill last winter hoping for an alternative to propane grilling outside in the rain . I used the Sanyo a few times indoors , it worked great , was smokeless with water in the tray , but was a little large for my kitchen counter . Then I thought about using it with my RV for outside use . I didn't want to lug around a charcole grill and supplies , or a little propane grill and tank either . So my routine is to set up the Sanyo grill outside , I line the water tray with aluminum foil , plus a flap of foil that goes up the back and flips to the front , for a cooking cover over the food . Grilling is more of an art anyway , so I didn't worry about whether the actual temperature settings were accurate . I turn on the grill to full heat , and it heats quickly ( 3 - 4 minutes ) , I pop on the hamburgers , chicken , ribs , or whatever , let them sear a little on both sides , then turn the heat down to a mid range setting to let things finish cooking a little more slowly . Everything cooks nearly as fast as on a regular propane grill without the burning and flames ! If needed again later for the latecomer to the picnic , it heats up quickly for that last hotdog . For clean-up , I soak a couple of paper towels with water , drape them over the grill surface , and turn it up to high again . In a couple of minutes when the steam is rising , I turn off the heat , wipe the grill with the papertowels , and grill is clean . For such an inexpensive grill , it works incredibly well , . I have ordered Sanyo's mini-grill that should fit in my kitchen a little better , and expect the same great performance .
    • 031 4  This is a great grill . I can grill Burgers Fish Vegies and they all come out great . Very Easy to clean and virtually no smoke at all .
    • 034 4  i've read the reviews , & bought . tried it for first time , on burger & franks . smells are wonderful , very little mess , easy cleaning . But the time it takes to heat astonished me , considering the reivews i'd read before . it took way too long to heat already cooked franks . So , unfortunately its off to buy a bulky gas grill , becuase , there may be more mess , but at least there will be a barbQ ! if u have time , this is gr8 , & good value . if u're trying to emulate a barbq without the mess , go elsewhere .
    • 038 4  Some might say this is not really a BBQ , but rather a drip through grill . The heating element in built within the grill . It works great ; I have been using it almost daily since purchase . I have cooked steaks , chops , burgers , chicken , sturgeon , vegetables , etc . My only complaint is the drip pan . It is rather shallow so if the table is not level the water will run to one side . Also , it is almost impossible to dump without spilling . I have a solution for the drip pan ; this has worked great for me . I line the pan with two layers of paper towels then saturate them with water . This catches and cools the drips and is very easy to clean up . Just make sure to keep the towels wet , as this could be a fire hazard , which I don't want to be blamed for . The grill is easy to clean with a non-stick surface and is submergible so I just let it soak for a while then clean it off .
    • 040 4  This grill really is fantastic . It's virtually smokeless if you follow the directions and it's great not to have to use the outdoor charcoal or gas grill when the weather is bad or you're just not in the mood for outdoor cooking . A few tips : 1 ) I set up my grill on top of my ceramic cooktop and what little smoke there may be is easily handled by my vent hood . 2 ) While it does usually take a little long to preheat if left alone , as another reviewer suggested , you CAN speed that up using a large jellyroll pan ( mine is 18 x12 and it works perfectly ) as a cover for the grill . When I cover the grill with the jellyroll pan , it preheats in about 4 - 5 minutes . 3 ) Thicker cuts of meat can benefit from this same trick . Use a deep pot lid as a dome over your meat to finish cooking the center and bring the meats up to safe temperature . All in all , I'm tickled with this purchase and the low price makes it's just that much sweeter . I highly recommend .
    • 046 4  This counter top grill is the best ! We just moved from a house where we had a Jenn-Aire grill . We bought this to have in our apartment . It is perfect . It grills everything with ease . It is very clean cooking , the water in the bottom tray keeps down the splatter and grease . It has a very large cooking surface so there is plenty of room to cook for a family or when having guests ! It is very easy to clean with its no-stick surface ! Highly recommended !
    • 051 4  This is a terrific little grill . I was recently diagnosed as having type II diabetes and started counting my carbs . Fish became one of my favorite meals and I needed some way to grill my fish without it falling apart . This grill fits the bill to a T . I love it ! I grill Talipia and it comes out perfect every time with the flavor that I love . I shopped many stores before I found this item on line looking for just the right grill . I do use it outside to keep the odors out of the house , but that is not a problem for me . Bob R Eustis , Florida
    • 054 4  I've been cooking for 40 years , been there done that ! For the price , this product performs relatively well . I read grievances , but yet to find same from my unit , wonder if people expect too much from an indoor grill . As with any cooking device , whether oven / range ( gas or elect ) ; aluminum , stainless steel or oven cast iron skillet ; or indoor grill - there is always a trial and error learning curve . Grievances I read , my reply : My unit heats up quickly , running my hand over the top could feel the heat and this was on low . If your meat is curling , cut a slit to allow it to lay flatter . To retain more heat , lay tin foil , shiney side down , over the food . This should help . And you can always use a meat thermometer to confirm safe temperature . I've found cleaning to be fine only using a dish cloth . The underside of the element / cooking plate does get dirty and it cleaned easily with dish cloth . If you spray the top side before cooking , put a light spray on the under side , should remedy the problem of build-up . I've grilled steak using a rub , and marinated pork chops - each came out tender and delicious . ( See UPDATE below ) I didn't have a smoke problem , even placed under range hood in case there was ( per another review ) and I have WAY more smoke from my cast iron skillet , didn't need vent . I did add more water ( 1 / 2 C ) for the marinaded chops as I knew the marinade would drip and could cause more smoke , it worked out well and with little water to pour out later . Even though I read the dimensions like everyone else , I was surprised to see how large the unit was . If you have a small kitchen with little storage , then I would reconsider & go with a smaller model . In defense of the size , I was able to grill 3 good size sirloin steaks ( 6 large servings ) all at one time . This is a bonus for me from an indoor grill . My mom has a large George Foreman and I go over and make a month's supply of sausage bisquits . Whatever grill you choose , a removable grill plate is a must . Cleaning her unit is a pain in the derriere ! Tonight I will grill marinated chicken and hamburgers tomorrow . I'm enjoying my grill ! UPDATE : MARINATED CHICKEN TURNED OUT PERFECT AND TURKEY BURGERS , TOO . THE GRILL IS OFFICIALLY A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY ! ! Hope this helps with your decision . Happy Life !
    • 056 4  The Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill is a very good product . Now that I'm trying to eat healthier , I use this product quite often . I've grilled almost everything on this grill , salmon , shrimp , chicken breasts , chicken pieces , etc . Everything comes out great with a wonderful grilled taste that I love . The food that I cook comes out tender and is not oily at all . So it's basically from the grill to the plate without having to drain excess grease like I would if I was frying in a frying pan . I have a small kitchen so I was kind of nervous about where I would place this product when I was grilling because my counter space is very limited . What I did was to just put my grill over the burners of my stove . Fits just fine . When I'm done , I just store the grill on one of the shelves of my microwave cart . This grill is sometimes advertised as a smokeless grill . This is not the case because it does give off smoke , not a lot but it does nonetheless . Possibly if this grill came with a lid of some kind that might reduce the smoke ? Also in the manual , it suggests that you should use cooking spray to grease the grill . However , when you use the cooking spray , when the grill gets hot , the spray oil turns gooey and sticky and becomes quite difficult to come off when you're washing the grill , making clean up a real pain . Food , however , does come off quite easily and doesn't stick to the surface like the cooking spray does . All and all , this is a great grill . A nice and healthier alternative to frying . My food comes out tasty , tender and delicious . This grill is very easy to set up , it heats up quickly and is easy to use . It has plenty of cooking space so that I can grill several different items at once . I like this grill much better than my old George Foreman grill . I'm glad I purchased this item .
    • 057 4  I desperatly wanted to love this grill . I had visions of ordering them as Christmas presents for my entire family later this year . Sadly , I doubt I'll get much use out of it . I'm experienced with indoor grilling , and I followed the directions to the letter . I turned my exhaust fan on high , placing the grill directly under it , yet my apartment was filled with smoke . Even after cleaning the grill and the entire kitchen it stinks in here . I've sprayed air freshners and can still smell it . If I can't cook simple hamburgers on it without setting off the smoke alarm and having to air the place out for days , what use is it to me . Two other things are troubling . The thermostat dial is too vague , making it hard to determine at what temperature your grill is functioning and the ridiculously shallow drip pan makes emptying it an Olympic sport . I'll try it again , using a higher tolerance cooking spray , but I don't hold out much hope for success and certainly wouldn't recommend it .
    • 058 4  I recently moved from my house into an apartment where outside grilling is not an option . After much research , I decided on this grill . It works great and is indeed smokeless . I've read other reviews about food which is brown on the outside but undercooked on the inside . This almost happend in my case until my husband ( who is much more experienced in the grilling dept than I am ) instructed me to turn the thermostat way down in the 200 - 250 range . We also used one of those disposable aluminun baking pans as a cover for the grill while the food cooked . . . And the end result was perfectly succulent BBQ , cooked all the way to the bone ! Oh , and I should also mention that for that charcoal flavor , I used the Ron Popeil BBQ Char Rub on the food before grilling . I also found that my results were much better when I did not spray the grill with cooking oil . And remember to wait until the food is all cooked and ready to leave the grill before you add your BBQ sauce . Doing so beforehand will cause the grill ( any grill ) to smoke and cause the food to burn . Clean up is really easy with this grill . The durable plastic on the exterior allows you to grasp the side and slide it over if you need to , etc . Care must be excerised when moving the grill so that the water in the base does not spill . The grill takes abotu 15 - 20 minutes to heat up , but if you plan your time well , you can easily fill this time with other food prep activities , and the grill will be ready before you know it . Overall , I think this is an excellent grill and good value for the price . So far I have used to grill to feed as many as 6 people at a time . My family and I are very happy with this purchase . Hope this review was helpful . Enjoy !
    • 075 4  Its excellent for my family who loves BBQ be it pork , chicken , beef or seafood.Rain or shine we always have a perfect & delicious meal grilled inside our apartment . Although its not completely smokeless , so i just keep the door & kitchen windows open and the exhaust on when cooking . Overall , i rate this product 4 stars !
    • 082 4  I love my old Farberware and have been trying to find something equally good , but less trouble to use . I have purchased and given away several grills in this quest . First , this Sanyo is way too big for two people and is also a problem when it comes to storage . However , my biggest complaint is that it doesn't get sizzling hot and takes a very long time to heat up . I have left mine for 30 minutes hoping to see the light go off at 425 deg . , but it never happens . Maybe 400 deg . if I'm lucky . I do like the hint from someone else which says to put newspaper in the bottom and then pour water over that . It certainly makes cleanup a lot easier . Would not buy this again . I will continue to treasure my old Farberware .
    • 083 4  I would recommend this grill to anyone who doesn't have a outdoor grill or to use during the winter months inside . It has an adjustable temperature control , cleans easily and is big enough for a family . I didn't care for the other indoor grills that have a cover , they are either heavy or just akward . Monica Mount Jewett , Pennsylvania
    • 085 4  I love my Sanyo indoor grill . I grill kabobs , steak , fish , veggies , etc . It's virtually smokeless . Spacious , too . It takes about 10 minutes to clean . Some cleaning tips : 1 . Right after cooking , unplug the cord . 2 . Wet a paper towel . 3 . Using tongs , wipe the grill with the wet paper towel to remove food remains . This takes about a minute , and you will find out that it will be much easier to clean your grill after your meal . I highly recommend it !
    • 086 4  I ordered this grill to replace a tabletop electric grill that I bought at a yard sale for 2 bucks . My old grill went kaput and it's no longer available . I loved that grill . It was fast , the food tasted great , it took up very little space on the countertop , it cooked food evenly , and it was easy to clean ( all of the parts went into the dishwasher except the heating element ) . This grill is a poor substitute for my beloved $2.00 grill . My biggest complaint is that if the food doesn't actually touch the grill surface , it doesn't cook thoroughly ( not very healthy ) . The sides of the meat are still raw ( YUK ! - try turning a pork chop on its side ) . If you like a nice thick portion , forget medium well . The outside will be crispy , while the inside will run very red . In addition , I don't like having to crunch my way through a hamburger or steak . The taste of the food is compromised because the cooking source is a heated piece of metal , rather than the heat itself . The grill takes up a LOT of space ( where will I store it ? ) , it is cumbersome to clean ( although the non-stick surface actually IS non-stick . That's a plus ) . The variable temperature knob is silly . When I have used anything but the highest setting , the food simply does not cook thoroughly . So , I have a choice between crunchy and raw . Plus - this grill is SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW . Another major concern for me is that , now that I've used it , I can't return it . If I had bought it at a store and it didn't live up to its hype , I could return it . I believe I will pass on buying appliances online in the future . Based on this experience , it's not worth the risk . I was curious to see how this grill worked for others who have bought it . After reading the reviews , I have to wonder . . . did we all buy the same grill ? Some of the things that worked for me are a big complaint for others . Some of my complaints got rave reviews from others . This leads me to believe that the manufacturing quality of this grill is inconsistent at best . Still , it is better than no grill at all .
    • 088 4  This is a good size grill . There is more than enough room on it to grill for the two of us ; but even when my son and his family visit , it can accomodate all the extra food . Having read the other reviews , I appropriated some of the reviewers ' tips ; so , I place the grill on my stove top under the vent , and I line the water tray with foil . I also place foil on the grill itself ( which I do on the charcoal grill too ) - and amazingly , I still get the grill marks on the meat ! ! All this leaves no mess to deal with when you're through - and don't feel like doing a big clean up . Since we live on the gulf coast , where it is extremely hot and humid , we don't enjoy grilling outside in the heat - so now we can grill in the a / c . The product works very well , and I would recommend it to anyone .
    • 093 4  Well I bought this for my Dad for fathers day , however they shipped it to me instead of him . Thanks to great Amazon customer service they did an overnight Saturday shipment for free to my Dad and got him his . One thing about Amazon they have the best customer service anywhere . So I decided to keep the one they accidentally shipped to me , since it was already here . I have used this several times now and am pleased with it . Especially on days I don't want to go out and fire up the BBQ . Exhaust fan over the stove on and there was no sign of smoke in my house at all . Even with it off there is very low smoke . Keep in mind there is no smokeless indoor grill , dispite what they say . Like any cooking , if something is too hot it will burn and smoke . The heat is dispersed pretty well on this grill without noticeable hot spots . Clean up is a breeze . . . . make sure you put some water in the bottom of the drip catch tray . The only thing I could complain about is the tempature setting between 300 and 425 is very small and hard to dial in . Maybe its not a huge difference , more practice will tell . Very good value for the money .
    • 094 4  I have had three Indoor Barbecue Grills , this is by far the best . The only problem I have found is getting the bottom tray up and drained without spilling water and grease . But not a big deal . . . . Would buy another . JW
    • 097 4  I was very excited to receive this item from myself for Christmas . Though some of the reviews made me a bit wary I was willing to take the risk for the low price . Here's what I've found after having used it many times in the past 3 weeks : This grill works pretty darn well , but not perfectly . If you add water to the drip pan it prevents smoke from the drippings , but the juices that stay on the cooking surface will still smoke some . In a way , that's a good thing because it helps your food still get * some * of that smokey grilled flavor , but not by filling your home with the stench of deceased cow juices . I find that as far as smell goes , making french fries on the stove has a stronger smell than this grill . The flaw , as others have mentioned , is that the heating method is sometimes a little inefficient . The grill surface itself heats up as fast as any electric appliance , so don't worry about that , despite what you may have heard . The problem is that the heat isn't really retained around the food . This means that if you're cooking very thick things that it's going to be quite a bit longer cook time than your traditional enclosed barbeque . I cooked some kebabs and found it took 15 minutes or so to make sure the meat was cooked thoroughly enough ( and I like it medium ) . Then I took the advice of another amazon purchaser and put a sheet pan over the top of the grill . I also found that a standard cookie sheet with raised edges or a typical restaurant pan fit just fine . Enclosing the grill made the cook time drop to about 7 minutes . All in all , I'm very pleased with this product . It isn't a perfect replacement for the old hibachi out back , but it's a lot faster , cleaner , and convenient . Since the weather has been snowy and below freezing lately I've really enjoyed being able to eat my food grilled when the mood strikes . The downsides are that the heat escapes a little too easily and that storage is a bit of a pain . But if you have the room , a bit of money , and a frequent craving for grilled food , get it .
    • 100 4  This is a great smokeless grill . Very light weight , all most to light ! Mine dropped and the handle broke off . I can still use it but hate that its damaged . It cooks hamburgers super . Grill marks and taste . I love it for a quick easy no mess dinners . I've cooked pork chops , hamburgers and steaks and its great . Spray little Pam on the grill and its cleans up great . I recommend this .
    • 102 4  I have been amazed ! Chicken , fish , steaks . Perfect doneness and markings . This is Good Eats by any standard . I have all the toys and know a good product when I see one . You gotta have it !
    • 110 4  2nd THOUGHTS : My grill was taking 20 - 30 minutes to reach 300 degrees ( light goes out when at temp ) . Plus smaller issues , like the sticker on the dial bubbles up when the grill is plugged in , and the water tray is crimped , making it very difficult to carry to the sink without spilling - - Sanyo rep says this is normal - - ? ? ? Sanyo Customer Service wanted me to ship it back AT MY EXPENSE , and the replacement is likely to be refurbished . I've arranged for Amazon to send a replacement . ORIGINAL COMMENTS : Works great . I place it on my stove ( remove the burner grills ) , so the vent fan can carry out most of the cooking heat / steam / smoke ( not sure the water in the lower pan helps / will have to try it with no water and see what happens ) . But calling it a barbecue seems a little silly - - to me , barbecue means charcoal or wood fire . This is just an electrified grill . Very roomy surface can easily hold 6 standard-sized steaks or eight chicken breasts , but that means you need to think about where you are going to store it . It's too long to fit the depth of most lower kitchen cabinets ( a bit less than 24 usually ) , and it's too wide to fit most upper cabinets , so you need to have a place you can either stand it on end ( roomy tray-storage cupboard ) , or you need to be able to place it in a lower cabinet lengthwise , which will limit your regular pots / pans storage .
    • 118 4  I recently got a Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Grill as a wedding gift from my cousin recently . I used to use a propane Weber Baby-Q , but can no longer since moving into my condo . I liked the idea of being able to grill inside during bad weather , so I asked for this grill . Let's start with a small disclaimer . This isn't a real grill . There is no heat source below the grate as there would be with charcoal or gas . Instead , there is a 1300 watt ( found to be about 1372 watts in my test ) heating element welded directly below . This results in the heating of the food to be from direct contact with the metal grates , rather than radiant heat from the flame . The non-stick metal grate sits in a plastic frame , which stands evenly on my four burners of my stove . Under the grate is an aluminum tray , which catches drippings ( you should put a cup of water into the tray prior to cooking . This prevents the drippings from baking onto the tray and makes it easier to clean ) . The power cord ( which contains the thermostat ) plugs into the grate directly . The dial thermostat has four temperatures printed - 200 , 250 , 300 , 425 . While the dial allows you to set it to any spot between the settings , the 125 degree jump at the end makes it a bit difficult to select temps between 300 - 425 . There is an orange triangle pointing to the setting you've selected , when it is lit the grill is on ( and drawing power ) and when the temperature is reached , the light goes out ( and the unit no longer draws power until it falls below that setting ) . I found that the surface of the grill got significantly hotter than the temperature selected ( 386 degrees vs the selected 250 ) during preheating . I put two pork chops and four pieces of chicken ( two breasts sliced in half ) on at the same time . The pork chops had a brown sugar and paprika rub , while the chicken was plain ( I added salt and pepper during grilling ) . This grill doesn't have a lid , and instead at times when I would like to trap heat in , I use a stainless steel frying pan placed upside down . Since the pork chops were a bit thick , I chose to do that here . Cooking these six pieces of meat ran into some difficulty . The pork shops , with the sugary rub , began to burn , while the chicken breasts cooked much more slowly . I think part of this was due to crowding half the grill with the four slice of chicken , while the other half only had two pork chops , causing the side with chicken to drop in temperature quickly . The grill , sensing the drop in temp , kept the heating element on , which heats the whole grill , causing the pork chops to get too hot . After realizing this , I switched the cover to the chicken , which helped keep the temp up on that side . I also added a glaze to the pork chops at this point , since they were almost done . With regards to the smokeless aspect of this grill , well , its not . It didn't put off a ton of smoke , but the pork chops especially ( with the sugary rub and glaze ) produced some smoke . I put the grill over my stove top so I can use the hood ( which vents outdoors ) . Additionally , the underside of the metal grate is NOT non-stick , and drippings bake onto that and don't come off during cleaning . The next time the grill is used , they burn off , producing smoke . After cooking , the grill cools down quickly , and the grate is easy to clean ( the top at least ) . It's a bit bigger than my sink , and I'm worried I'm going to break the handle if I'm not careful , but food cleans right off with a soapy sponge . The drip tray is easy to clean ( and is dishwasher safe as well , although it's so easy to clean I can't see wasting dishwasher space for it ) . While this grill does have some flaws ( not smokeless , variance in temperature settings , difficulty cleaning ) , it's still a pretty decent grill and I expect to use it on a regular basis . ( I wouldn't recommend getting the smaller HPS-SG2 since it has a weaker 850 watt heating element ) . In total , it used 0.42 kWh of electricity , which is about 7 cents at the current prices ( in the Northeast , less for the rest of the country ) . Pork chop recipe from : [ . . . ] UPDATE : I used this grill to make shish-kabobs today . Didn't work as well as a traditional grill , due to lack of cover . The kabobs didn't have as much surface contact with the grill , so they didn't absorb the heat . I took an old cookie sheet and put it upside down on top of the kabobs , which helped . It looks like the best foods are flat items of an even thickness ( burgers , chops , breasts ) , rather than things like kabobs or chicken wings .
    • 135 4  I loved the lightness and ease of cooking of this grill but in cleaning the plastic handles broke a few times tried fixing but finally threw it out . Not sturdy at all !
    • 152 4  It is ok product for the price but I found out it was not the right grill for the cuisine that enjoy which is Turkish . It takes forever the grill shish kebabs , adana kebabs , koftes , chicken drums , eggplants , green peppers , onions etc . But if you like to grill hot dogs and thin sliced chicken breasts , you are lucky . You can do it on this as long as they are not thick . The problem I see is that it is just not hot enough . Maybe none of the electric grills is hot enough . That is why I gave up on electric grills and planning on going with gas grill when I have the enough money to purchase one .
    • 153 4  Wife and I love to grill but our outdoor ones always only last 1 - 2 years so this time instead of buying another outdoor one for $150 + we thought we would take a chance on this . The grill itself is very easy to setup it is 4 pieces the heating element / grill surface , dripping tray , plastic base and cord / temp control . It took 10 minutes to take it out of the box setup. It is also a fairly large kitchen appliance so it has ample room for cooking a lot of food for a whole family . When used the grill took about 10 - 15 minutes to reach 325 / 350 has very even heat and everything had a perfect sizzle when placing it on to the grill. The smokeless feature works very well just pour a little over a cup of water in to the dripping tray only tip for this part I have is make sure the whole bottom of the tray has water or else you will get some smoke and if by chance the water level gets low while cooking add a little more water . Clean up is a breeze just wait for the grill to cool wipe down the grill surface and dump the dripping tray and wipe that out . Best part though is the food we have cooked on it taste superb better tasting to us than even the outdoor grills we have had in the past . This has become not only a useful kitchen appliance but one we keep out on the counter to use multiple times a week .
    • 164 4  My wife bought this for me after doing a large amount of research on indoor grills . I got tired of starting my charcoal grill just to cook a small meal for the two of us . So far we have grilled steaks twice and chicken once . The manual comes with suggested cooking times for many different types of meat . Even with chicken breasts that were about 2 inches thick , the manual was right on the money ( about 15 - 20 minutes on each side ) . My friend came over for dinner and was so impressed with my chicken ( marinated only in an roasted red pepper italian dressing I bought at the store ) that he decided to buy the same grill . The filet mignon I grilled was very thick , so I had to stray from the suggested cooking time . Since steak is so easy to overcook , I turned down the heat from the suggested 325 degrees and just let it cook longer . The result was absolutely delicious steak ! My second attempt at steak was a much thinner cut of meat , so I did cook it for less time on a higher heat . There really is very little smoke , and despite complaints from others , I think it takes minimal time for the grill to heat up . It's not instantaneous but it's certainly less prep time than a charcoal grill . If storage size is a problem , Sanyo makes a compact but similar version ( see the HPS-SG2 ) . Depending on the size of your sink , the SG2 may also be easier to clean . I would definitely recommend this grill . It works great and allows you to stay inside and entertain guests while grilling , keep an eye on the little ones , and / or grill when weather conditions outside are unfavorable . The only downside I have seen so far is that the entire surface is always the same temperature . Not all meat is done at the same time , but I can't move meat off the grill for too long or else it will get cold . Normally when I grill outside on my charcoal grill I leave one spot without coals , so that when some meat is done I can move it off of the coals but still keep it warm . This isn't possible with an electric grill such as this one , but one possible solution is to have an oven ( or even toaster oven ) on at 100 - 150 degrees . As things finish cooking on the grill , you can move them to the oven to keep them warm ( without cooking them further ) while you finish grilling the rest of the meal . One final note : the sponges made for the George Foreman grills work perfectly for cleanup with this grill too !
    • 166 4  The product is pretty good . I've used it for steaks , chicken breasts , and pork chops . They all come out pretty well with the grill marks and all . I would recommend getting a cheap baking pan to use as a grill cover . It'll help with preheating and trapping the heat while grilling . There are a few negatives however : They say that it is virtually smoke free but that is a lie . I get really tired of cleaning it . The drip pan is really flimsy and its hard to clean .
    • 174 4  This indoor electric grill works much better than I thought it would . It is a snap to clean up and has a nice sized cooking area . I think for the money it would be hard to beat .
    • 180 4  This grill is great for when you want to barbeque for a large family indoors when the weather is too bad to grill outdoors ! I was pleasantly surprised at just how much food would fit on it and cook properly ! Also , the fact that it didn't smoke up my kitchen , or over heat it was great ! It was also very easy to clean after use and doesn't have a lot of small parts to keep up with . I am very pleased with this grill and would highly recommend it to everyone . A word to the wise . . . This grill is very large and does take up a lot of counter space .
    • 183 4  I love this grill . I got one for my mom . She and my dad live in MN and neither one of them wants to stand outside and grill in the middle of winter , but don't want to miss out of the great taste of grilled food . I've used it a couple times while visiting and liked it so well , I bought my own . It's easy to use , easy to clean . And though nothing beats the taste of brats over a charcoal grill or open fire , it does a great job .
    • 189 4  This is the best indoor grill I have ever used ! I have grilled chicken breast , ribeye steak , salmon , brats and everything has come out perfect ! I told some friends of mine and they all have purchased one too ! ! ! ! I highly recommend this grill and for the price you can not go wrong . I was skeptical at first but now I am a believer . Try if for yourself . . . you have nothing to lose and everything to gain . The meats I have prepared on this grill are restaurant quality or better and I can have dinner on the table in 30 minutes . You just can't beat that ! ! ! !
    • 201 4  I purchased this grill after reading so many great reviews . It's great ! ! So far , I have grilled sirloin steak , tilapia ( fish ) and boneless chicken breast on it . The steak was tender and juicy , as was the chicken , and the fish was perfect and flakey . So good ! The grill surface gets really hot , so the only suggestion that I would make is to turn the grill temperature down a little ( from the temp listed in the manual for each meat ) . The food will cook more throroughly and has less chance of burning . Buy and enjoy !

  • Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) All considered , I decided to give this Sanyo indoor grill a 5 - star rating .
    • 001 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This is one appliance that lives up to every one of the manufacturer's claims .
    • 003 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) All considered , I decided to give this Sanyo indoor grill a 5 - star rating . • 005 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I read the review about how long it takes to preheat this grill , well being a full time chef ( aa culinary arts ) and over 20 years in the industry , I have used many different types of grills , and in most cases when I needed it to heat up quickly we would just place a sheet pan over it and it decreased the startup time significantly .
    • 010 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Given the great reviews this grill has , I was really excited to order it and have way to grill in my small apartment .
    • 015 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) We're thinking the old BBQ out on the patio has met it's match . This grill is fantastic . . . the fact that all the grease drips into the water below makes for quick clean ups . There truly is virtually no smoke , and with 200 square inches of cooking space there is no need to crowd the food . We highly recommend this particular grill ( and we are tough critics ) .
    • 019 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I live an an apartment that has a kitchen vent that recirculates the air back into the room .
    • 026 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) We have owned two other electric indoor grills and they both died after a year .
    • 030 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This is a great grill . I can grill Burgers Fish Vegies and they all come out great . Very Easy to clean and virtually no smoke at all .
    • 033 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) i've read the reviews , & bought . tried it for first time , on burger & franks . smells are wonderful , very little mess , easy cleaning .
    • 035 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This grill was a great disappointment . It's coating holds on to food very tenaciously , and it takes a tremendous amount of scrubbing to clean it - so much so that I finally just threw it away , since the return period had elapsed . If you cook at low temperatures , it's OK , but real high-heat grilling is not this products forte .
    • 037 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Some might say this is not really a BBQ , but rather a drip through grill .
    • 043 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I live in an old house with no yard .
    • 047 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) It is great . I had my first indoor BBQ with it Saturday . No smoke , the meat is done properly . The temp control is precisely . I like it .
    • 053 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I've been cooking for 40 years , been there done that !
    • 055 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) The Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill is a very good product .

I am writing this review because I am ALWAYS the 1st to tell you when something is wrong or not as described , etc . ! Well , I need also to be the first to tell you when the shoe fits the other foot instead ! This Sanyo Grill HPS-SG3 is everything it says it is and more ! I bought it roughly 6 to 8 weeks ago and I have used it at least twice a week since then if not more . And , I plan to continue to use it just as frequently as well . It cooks the food evenly and is a snap to clean-up afterwards . The only thing I would recommend to Sanyo is that they need to make the drip tray with the sides a little taller so that it could be a little deeper . I put just enough water in the drip tray to prevent smoke , thus allowing me to dump the water out without making a spill . This grill makes the perfect gift for him or her and for any occasion ! And it is SMOKELESS if used correctly ! Don't be sorry though that you didn't order one for yourself ! From Order Placement to Product Receipt at my home was roughly 4 days ! Fantastic all the way around , and the shipping was FREE ! ! ! ! ENJOY ! ! !

    • 065 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Easy clean up indoor grill , Sinple to use , Heats up Fast , Gives good results . Only problem with my unit is that the indicator light is supposed to go out when the desired temperature is reached . It doesn't ! The use and care book could give more information and recipes , rather than the very sparse book provided . Look at the George Forman grill which are provided with a good booklet . But overall , a good choice .
    • 068 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I am very satisfied with the performance of the Sanyo HPS-SG3 , 200 - Sq . inch Indoor Bar-B-Que Grill . After seeing it demonstrated on television I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did . I always marinate my food prior to grilling but hated the clean up after using charcoal type grills . This product is easy to clean and the slide out drip pan helps to drain away the fat some meats produce . I would highly recommend this type grill to people that enjoy the grilling experience without the messy clean up and the worry over if the coals have completely cooled before disposing .

    • 078 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) The grill is great when the weather is not . It heats evenly and the temperature can be easily adjusted . If you line the bottom pan with foil it is very easy to clean up .
    • 080 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I considered giving this only 4 stars , but had to consider that it's not an outdoor grill with a cover , and it's not going to perform exactly like one .
    • 084 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I love my Sanyo indoor grill .
    • 087 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This is a good size grill .
    • 089 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) After reading many reviews from several different venues , I decided on this Sanyo 200 sq . inch grill and I am glad I did !
    • 092 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Well I bought this for my Dad for fathers day , however they shipped it to me instead of him .
    • 096 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I was very excited to receive this item from myself for Christmas .
    • 098 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I was very pleased with this grill . I found heating time very short by covering grill while heating with a cookie sheet , and placing water in bottom tray as instructed saved a lot of smoke and cleanup . It is well worth the money spent on this grill .
    • 104 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) In Az where we live its usually too hot to go out and grill , at least for me , so I ordered this grill thinking it would be the next best thing .
    • 106 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I came across this grill ( or one looked like it ) on Martha Stewart show when one of her guest grilled the steak and it looked so good . Buy it .
    • 109 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) 2nd THOUGHTS : My grill was taking 20 - 30 minutes to reach 300 degrees ( light goes out when at temp ) .
    • 119 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Purchased this item because my doctor told me to lose weight . I figure the best way would be to throw out the oil and deep fryer . Talking to a friend and she told me about this grill . Well , I have my order in for the 3rd and 4th ones . Gave the 2nd as a gift , and ordered the other two for my neighbors to use . You like to grill ? This is your grill . So easy to clean .
    • 121 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I have had this grill for about 4 weeks and I absolutely love it .
    • 123 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) It works , just as advertised .
    • 125 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This grill is great for those of us who don't have an outside grill .
    • 127 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This grill was way better than expected for the price . I was suprised that it cooked evenly . Also if u follow the directions and place water in the pan it will not smoke . I was pleased with the size it seemed smaller in the picture . Great if your grilling for 5 - 6 people
    • 129 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) OK , so maybe awesome is a little bit strong but I am very happy with my new grill . PS - I only gave it 4 stars because I think there is always room for improvement . . .
    • 131 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I live in an apartment in Seattle , and I miss my outdoor barbeque !

    • 136 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) received today , comes with 4 pieces , the plastic black outer holder , the cord , the heating unit ( top is coated nonstick , bottom is bare , no coat ) and the aluminum tray underneath to hold the drips .
    • 138 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I have purchased many indoor griddles over the years . This is the very BEST I have ever cooked on . I prepared Beef Fillets on it last week , they were as good as if I had cooked them outside on the grill ! Great job Sanyo ! D Carter
    • 140 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) This is a nice grill . Easy to clean . Works well . Only thing I don't care about it is that its so big-which is nice if you are grilling a lot of things or pieces are big , but storage is another thing . It comes apart so you have to be careful how you carry it and I store it in a cabinet downstairs , not in my kitchen . Other than that , its great . . .
    • 142 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) It is a freezing Jan . evening in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts and I just grilled the best steak ever . . .
    • 144 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) We purchased this unit as an alternative to the George Forman grill we've had for several years .
    • 146 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I bought this a few months ago and love it . It heats up fast and cooks great . It had very little smoke which was great . I bought the 200 inch electric grill - so glad I did . Its large enough to hold lots of food . My kids love to watch it grill and it is fantastically easy clean up . We've cooked on our stove and also I sit at my kitchen table and grill . I love this grill and have recommended it to all my friends .
    • 148 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) The Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 Indoor grill is OK . I do think some improvements could be made . The greese catch pan could be a little deeper . The grill has to be exactly level or the amount of water suggested will not cover the catch pan . When removing the catch pan to dump , extreme care must be taken not to spill it . Please don't think that this grill will not make any smoke or you will be disappointed because it does . Even though I have a few complaints I am still overall satisfied .

    • 151 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) It is ok product for the price but I found out it was not the right grill for the cuisine that enjoy which is Turkish .
    • 154 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) It is big enough to cook all the food at the same time and it is easy to clean up . However , it takes about 20 minutes to reach desired temparture .
    • 161 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) My wife uses this to broil and it works well . Temperature is easy to control and the surface is adequate for two big steaks or 4 pieces of fish . It does smoke a tiny bit but not enough to notice . Very easy to clean .
    • 167 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) I purchased this grill for 34.99 and let me say it is worth the money , the grill is quite large which makes it easier for cooking large meals and the clean up is pretty easy. The best part is that is can come part which makes cleaning a breeze something that the geroge foreman grill cannot do.I highly recommend this grill .
    • 169 4  Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black I love this grill . While grilled meat may not be healthy , this grill cooks yummy BBQ meat and veggies and saves me tons of money . I recommend this grill .
    • 170 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Used grill for first time , did not take long to heat up ( quicker than my deepfryer ) , easy clean-up and little to no smoke for burgers . However , if you are single or a couple , this grill may be too big , get the SG2 which is smaller . I cooked four burgers and it is really to big for that .
    • 172 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) The Sanyo HPS-SG3 heats up quickly , has plenty of room , works like a charm , doesn't smoke and is easy to clean . What else could you ask for in a grill ? Extremely pleased with my purchase .
    • 184 4  This review is from : Sanyo HPS-SG3 200 - Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill , Black ( Kitchen ) Really nice grill . My husband loves every meal I prepare on this bad boy ! Fast and complete cooking and very little mess . The only reason I didn't give a perfect score was the fact that I hate cleaning the nooks and crannies , but it comes with the territory . I recommend this product .
    • 187 4  This Sanyo Indoor Barbecue Grill ( HPS-SG3 ) is great ! It does everything mentioned and more . It's big enough to handle the large foods , ie . Chicken half , and small enough to accommodate the skebobs , : ) . My Grill heats up to cooking temperature quickly , as someone stated it doesn't heat up timely in one review . I can't see what's not to like . I've grilled everything from hot dogs to steaks ( T-Bone ) , and have gotten restaurant satisfaction every time I've plugged my Sanyo in . This grill is outstanding and I am currently waiting until more becomes available to send as gifts to family members . I've learned you have to give some items a try for yourself . For the price and the service I have received for this SANYO Indoor Barbecue Grill I have paid for a WINNER ! Thanks Amazon
