Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot

  • 003 4  I have owned this camera for about 6 months and have enjoyed it a lot ! It takes great pictures and has lots of different options . The only trouble I've had is the lens cap does not attach to anything , so it swings around all over the place when I'm taking pictures . I solved this by attaching velcro to the front of the cap and the side of the strap . The other thing I do not like is that the dial on the top tends to move quite easily and sometimes I find myself taking pictures on a setting I did not plan on . I just fix it and retake the picture , but it's a little annoying . I do love , however , the movie feature . They are very clear and upload to our computer / blog easily . My family loves seeing pictures and movies of my kids - especially family that is out of town . All in all , this is a great camera !
    • 011 4  This camera has enabled me to take equally great photos at my kids ' Little League games and when out seeing bands - and so much more . The videos are awesome . All-around easy to use point-and-shoot with excellent zoom ability . A good option before the SLR-like model step .
    • 014 4  This is my first digital camera . I love this camera ! I knew from friends who had digital cameras that there is a long wait time between shooting and getting the picture . I chose this one because Consumer Reports said most Sony Cybershots have a fast shooting time . This camera is very fast ! I have shot lightning shots , very close macro shots . The pictures are detailed and clear . There are alot of options on this camera , and especially love the ISO feature . Would recommend this camera to all digital camera lovers . One issue is that the camera did not come with a memory card , and since it was my first digital camera did not know needed this . Also , not the best written instructions . But camera is easy to use , so figured things out .
    • 071 4  I totally love this camera . The pictures are great and the camera is pretty easy to learn . I like the fact that there isn't a lag when I can take a picture . I also love the feature where you can take pictures one rigth after the other very quickly . I had a Canon camera and after a few years it just died . This is much better , especially for the cost !

  • 008 4  Tired of carrying around a much larger SLR camera with interchangeable lenses and small view screen I found the H10 a very nice replacement . The 10X zoom is more then enough for my travel picture needs . In Alaska I zoomed in on a bald eagle resting on a distant electrical tower . The large 3 viewing screen allows me to compose my picture without wearing any glasses . Mode selector knob easily allows me to find the right picture taking mode . Virtually no shot delay and multiple shooting mode works machine gun fast . Steady shot is always on , removing any moves I may make and later blaming on the camera . Taking pictures at twilight and night resulted in very high quality pictures . Issues ? With a 4gb memory chip I tend to overshoot , bringing my battery to exhaustion . No problem , added an extra battery and off I go . Yes you can read where other reviewers will complain about what the H10 will not do . Then again , if you take the time to fully read the manual several times , practice with the camera and learn from your mistakes , you will find the camera is fine . It's the operator making the mistakes . Nice job Sony !
    • 005 4  I am highly impressed by this digital camera made by Sony . This camera is as close to a digital SLR as you can get without paying three times the amount of money . This camera is loaded with special features just like any quality SLR digital camera . Crisp photos that you are able to blow up to poster sized photographs . Before spending a high amount of money on a SLR read the features that this camera comes equipped with .
    • 020 4  This camera is well worth the price . It is simple to use , takes great pictures , and has fantastic zoom . It exceeds expectations for a point and shoot . People who want burst mode to work indoors with poor lighting don't buy this camera , spend the money and get a DSLR or set up your shots with the proper lighting to make it work . Burst = no flash .

  • 017 4  the camera is quite compact . what i like most about it is that my attachments from my older camera fits this camera also . i also like the fact that you can take decent photos without the flash . there is only two things that are minor which i don't particularly care for . one is there is not a separate view finder where you can save on battery life . another is which i knew about before was you have to have lens cover off to engage the camera . other than that i am really happy with my purchase . i got my camera in a timely manner and it works great . thank you
    • 058 4  This camera is amazing for its price , specially the optical zoom is absolute fantastic . I have used in football games and got the absolutely great snaps of players . Quality is simply awesome . I love it . Easy to use and easy to click .
    • 068 4  it is a semi proffesional camera , comes with a couple of zoom covers and takes really good pictures , close and for the distance , also u can get more zoom with the special lens , and remember it is sony , what else could be better for good price and good technology .
    • 076 4  We just started using this camera and so far it is one of the best we've ever owned . Easy to use , great pictures , and sturdy !

  • 021 4  I have owned 3 Sony digital cameras , and have LOVED them all ! So when I decided to upgrade , I went straight to the latest Sony digitals to see if I could strike gold yet again with a Sony digital camera . And guess what ? ? ! ! ! I DID ! ! ! I'm a stay-at-home Mother of five and I take LOTS of pictures . This H10 is perfect for all of the shots I take with my kids and various other things . The pictures are of high quality . I'll never buy a camera without the 10x optical zoom because Sony has spoiled me with that incredible zoom ! The 8.1 megapixels produce quality pictures beyond my wildest imagination , which can be blown up to any reasonable size you would need them to be ! The programs are so easy to use , that I didn't even have to read the manual to figure them out ! ! ! One of my FAVORITE things about this camera is that when I actually push down the button , it captures the EXACT PICTURE I WAS TRYING TO GET without missing the moment ! ! ! ! I can't say that about all of the Sony's I've owned in the past . Anyway . . . this is THE camera to own and is at a FANTASTIC price on Amazon.com ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! LOVE IT ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
    • 012 4  WE GOT THIS CAMERA AFTER HAVING OUR SON . IT IS SUPER EASY TO USE AND TAKES GREAT PICTURES . WE LOVE THAT WE CAN CAPTURE GOOD PICTURES OF OUR ACTIVE BABY WITHOUT ISSUE . THE BURST MODE IS GREAT ALLOWING US TO TAKE PITCURES IN RAPID SUCCESSION ( GOOD FOR WHEN HE IS LEARNING TO WALK ) . AWE ALSO LIKE THE MODE TO SHRINK THE FILE SIZE OF PICTURES AND VIDEO TO DEND ON E MAIL . YOU GET A LOT OF CAMERA FOR THE MONEY !

  • 030 4  I think this camera is very good , just that my skill in using it is limited . I have been experimenting with it for the last couple of weeks and have had mostly good success . The zoom is great since the camera it is replacing was only a 3x . I think the zoom is causing me some concern because at full zoom I probably need to keep it extremely steady , when i do so normally the picture turns out well . When I don't purposely steady myself they can turn out blury . The only thing that I have found bothersome was the manual lense cap - but I knew that was a con when I bought it . Overall I am very happy with my purchase , just trying to figure out how to best use it .
    • 019 4  The Sony Cyber-shot Model DSC-H10 camera was bought four weeks before leaving on our 3500 + mile driving trip thru 12 states . Great pictures with quick recovery for next shot . I did purchase a spare battery for backup which was a quick recovery when notified of low battery power .
    • 034 4  I got this camera last week for a friend & I really like the quality of the pictures . . . . I think its the best !
    • 072 4  A very small light camera . Overall excellent for travel . I visit about 7 - 10 countries a year , and I always travel with a camera . It is hard to pack the clothes you will need , personal items and camera equipment . I have a canon 450d but I also wanted a good point and shoot . I visited flickr files to view phots taken with this camera . . . and I thought it would be a good fit for me . I am very please . For quick shots and a camera you can pocket . . . this is a good buy .
    • 083 4  It's a good deal , but I found at regualr store after more cheaper than Amazon , this was not expected , but it's ok

  • 037 4  We are very happy with the Sony Cybershot . The zoom is very good especially for a point and shoot . The organizing folders in the camera are also very handy particularly when you cant get to a computer to upload the photos right away . We would recommend this camera .
    • 045 4  Own a Sony Cybershot for a few years , decided to upgrade to get more zoom and larger view screen . Very simple to use and takes great shots - would recommend
    • 069 4  Needed a camera to take family pictures and sports pictures . Very nice clear pictures , rechargable battery is definately a plus , don't really like the lens attachment - but it works great without it . Great purchase for the money .

  • 040 4  This is a great little camera . We bought this after reading all the other great reviews and totally agree with them . We've only had it a few days , but so far it's working great . It has taken some really good pictures and the zoom on it is awesome . It is really easy to use . The video feature is my favorite . It took a very nice , steady video of my 3 year old driving his truck . It is small enough to be taken everywhere . Just keep in mind that it takes a mini SD card . Our old SD card from our other camera would not fit . We found a 4GB mini card for this camera at Wal-Mart for $25 . If you are looking for a great camera to use for kids , and a good one for your money , this is it .
    • 023 4  This camera appears to be a good value purchase . I like the Steady Shot and face recognition features . Having the ability to take multiple pictures in rapid succession is also a handy feature . The 10x zoom is great . It would be nice if it also came with an optional small hand strap , in addition to , the larger neck strap that comes included with the camera . The lens cap is not an issue , as the camera displays that you have failed to remove the cap when it is inadvertently left on . Overall , the camera , considering its features and quality of digital photographs , is a good value for the money invested .
    • 041 4  this is the best i've had . it's just an all round great camera . the 10x zoom is as close as you can get to the top of the line without breaking the bank . i thought all the featured settings were pretty easy to access and use as needed . it's not a complicated camera . pictures are clear and the easy to fix if you screw up . lots of features .
    • 053 4  A great camera for it's size. The 10x optical zoom take excellent pictures and they are easy to download. The battery charger is compact for traveling . I would highly recommend this camera .

  • 056 4  I find this camera excellent for my photography needs , which are taking pictures of my family in different situations , such as doing sports , playing with friends , at parites , etc . I am no expert photographer , so I really appreciated the cameras easy-to-understand instructions and ease of use . I also like the fact that the battery lasts much longer than regular batteries . There is almost no waiting time between pictures .
    • 035 4  We switched from an old Canon powershot to this one . The extra $ [ . . . ] bucks are worth it . Much more camera and power . The drawback is the amount of space that each picture takes . Highly recommended for quality pictures with zero expertise needed .

  • 066 4  I own this camera , I didn't buy it from Amazon though . My local Walmart had this camera brand new , not refurbrished , for $200 . I don't remember the original price of this camera , but I do know I got a great camera for an amazing price . It takes great pictures as well as great videos . Even a person such as me , those who have quiet voices , it records the sound very well . I have different pictures and videos that I have taken with this camera . The camera detects faces and it has different features like those soccer moms would want to use the Sports feature . It pauses the picture on the camera for a split second then it saves it . It's better to use the sports feature during the day because it doesn't use flash for this feature . It's also a good camera if you have a job where you have to take photographs and you know you're going to end up banging your camera up . I have dropped mine time and time again . The battery life is great as well , it usually takes mine two weeks before it goes dead . I recommend this camera , although I am not sure how the refurbrished one would hold up , mine was new but it was around $400 when it came out at Walmart so no one really bought them .
    • 007 4  I tried several cameras before deciding to stick with this one . Other cameras I tried were the Canon sx100is , Panasonic Lumix TZ4 , Kodak Easyshare Z712 , and finally the Canon S5 . I really expected to like the Canon S5 the best , but this little camera out shot the Canon in most all conditions . The Sony , in my opinion , gave me the ability to quickly take pictures that consistently turned out well . The video is nice quality as long as you use the ' fine ' mode . This is a nice little camera and I enjoy using it !
    • 032 4  I spent alot of time reviewing point and shoot cameras in the $200 range and after much deliberating decided on this one . I was attracted by the built in zoom and despite some reviews that picture quality would suffer at full zoom decided to give it a try . Wow ! This is a great little camera . I also own a Nikkon d40 which I consider my professional camera and this camera takes almost as good photos . The Nikkon is great but not at all portable . This is a small professional quality photo camera that is practical to carry around . Have taken 50 + photos and they are all great . Not much need to leave automatic mode here - works great but fun to play around with shutter speed ev and other manual settings . Its not as sleek and sexy as some of the other point and shoots - in fact it looks fairly old school , but buy ths camera and you wont be dissapointed . Justin .
    • 054 4  I love this camera . My dad had it over the holidays and I liked it a lot so I decided to buy one too since my old point and shoot just wasn't the quality that I wanted . I love the steady shot feature and it takes great pictures !
    • 085 4  I am a Ludite when it comes to these new digital cameras . I really miss photographic paper and the chemicals , but you can't work with this stuff and kids so , I got this camera thing and it has O.K . images but not photographs . Never confuse digital imagery with photography , it really is a different thing . This one has a rechargeable battery and , if you get one of these cameras get a second battery . It has a really nice image screen and the buttons are fairly user friendly . It is O.K . , but it ain't photography .

  • 078 4  Very nice camera for the price we have paid . The features are pretty self exclamatory . I take a lot of photos for my business and the only flaw is when picking up the camera ( when it is still on ) it is easy to accedently hit other buttons on the display mantel . It is real easy to use . Love the big display pictures . I would reccomend this camera .
    • 028 4  I bought this camera for my sister-in-law who is not a pro picture taker . . . . it takes the thinking out of taking pics . Very easy to use with great results . Nice , bright 3 screen on the back of the camera . Battery life seems to be very good . Great overall camera .
    • 044 4  this is a great product , does all I want it to do , have a high end camera but want one for knockin ' around , this is it
    • 046 4  Nice camera . Great picture : Pros : Size , speed , Flash light , zoom , picture quality . Cons : Lens cap ( you have to remember to take it out by yourself ) . It does not have Aperture priority nether Shutter priority . The Manual adjustment is also very limited for the Aperture level .
    • 048 4  I got this for my husband and he is thrilled with the camera . We both have digital SLR's and he uses this as his hiking , biking camera . Great shots , easy to use .
    • 065 4  I use this on construction projects , have taken couple of thousand pics , rough use , dirt , dust , etc . no problems . Good camera for the money .
    • 080 4  I really liked this camera but I wanted to be able to put different lenses on it like a Cannon or Nikon . I ended up sending it back so I'd have the money for a a Cannon Rebel XT . I really did like this camera though , takes great pictures and videos , great for a vacation . : ]
    • 081 4  Great Camera for the price . Easy to use . memory card does not fit into normal memory card slots for a computer or Wii
    • 084 4  I bought this for my daughter so I have not used this camera . She is very happy with the performance and the picture quality .

  • I have updated the review I wrote 6 months ago ( it is almost January 2009 now ) . The review was divided in two sections , the first one was The warning : against the lack of compatibility between this camera's software and Windows Vista upgraded-from-XP computers . A couple of months ago , Microsoft made a patch or something which was downloaded automatically to my computer , and it solved some usb problems , including this one . So , I have deleted The Warning ( no case now ) and leaving the second section of the review . I WOULD NEED TO CHANGE MY RATE TO FIVE STARS ( I had written : Camera : * * * * * ( all in all ) . Driver compatibility : ( zero ) . Total : * * * ) but the system does not allow changes in stars . I did not feel I had to write another review , because leaving this as it was , would have meant that the flaw in camera's or Microsoft's software continued and it's not . I will provide some magnificent pictures I took with this little marvel during a trip . It proved to have been so handy , resistant and easy to use . I would blindly recommend it . Remaining review : Now , for THE PRODUCT ITSELF : PROS : Big screen , great zoom , lightweight , conventional cap , great flash , many features even fancy ones ( music and so ) . CONS : None . It is a good camera , something not pro , but with so many features that you'll feel like a pro . Specially the zoom ( 10x , wow ! ) . The big screen , despite delicate , helps to detect blurs that cannot be easily appreciated in smaller screens ( it gets greasy easily , so use a plastic screen protector ) . However , I would qualify the zoom , at its full length , with an 8 , so far . Sometimes it is blurry ( very little , but is ) , and sometimes not ( in similar conditions shots ) , so I guess that it is not a 100% steady , but is ok considering its competitors ( minor zoom and even more sensitive to movement ) . Just hold it firmly . The lack of built-cap I cannot be sure if it is one of the cons because I had two Canon before this Sony and both suffered damage in its cap at any point ( It did not close properly , it bended , did not open , etc . ) , so an old fashioned cap is ok as long as you fix a thread ( are many on the market ) to avoid losing it . I like the flash also . It is strong , long and has different ways to use it : there is one that allows illuminating the whole scene , instead of just the proximity , so it is very useful for indoor pictures . You'll get beautifully illuminated interiors , with or without people . This is different from my previous Canon cameras . It takes time to become a pro in the use of all its features . It has plenty . If you just want to focus and shot , then buy something less expensive . The features are promisingly great , but I am not so fast using it , I take my time . If you are going to a trip , is better that you become more than familiar with this little thing before so it can do a great job . Otherwise you will find yourself shooting in automatic all the time , and if that is so , why this camera then ? UPDATE , FROM A TRIP : I have just returned from a three week holiday with my husband and my 3 y.o . boy . I shoot more than 2000 pics . . . it's crazy , but the camera is so powerful and versatile that you enjoy shooting around . This wonderful machine survived my boy , an outrageous number of shots , some strikes , bad weather , many bumps , etc . It's like the Jungle Jeep of Digital Cameras . My two previous Canons were not successful in similar conditions ( the automatic cap was the first thing to fail and at the end it was necessary for me to open it with my fingers ) . The more I used this Sony , the more I was in love with it . While in vacations you need to be very familiar with different settings to get the picture ( i.e . in a sightseeing tour , a museum where no flash is allowed ) and sometimes everything happens so fast that you really need to change settings right away to get that shot . Well , this camera is like having many cameras with me : - When it was very sunny outside , I used ISO 100 and I got wonderful blue skies , when it started to rain , I changed ISO to 400 , when it was getting darker , to ISO 800 . When I was in a museum where no flashes were allowed , I used my high ISO and so on . - When I wanted to get beautiful landscapes at night , I used M ( manual ) settings , easy to use , with lovely results . - When I wanted to do some beautiful B / W pictures or Sepia , or change size to landscape , it was very easy . - When I wanted to make skylines or just silhouettes , I changed the point feature and pointed to the source of light ( taking care of my eyes ) and the results were beautiful . I.e . There were lovely colorful skies , so I pointed to them behind a nice sculpture . - I also had a lot of fun by using the flash ( never before I had enjoyed the flash so much ) because the flash keeping landscape clear really does it . I mean , no more beautifully lighten people in a dark surrounding . - It was very easy to use a tripod , and knowing the settings of the camera I enjoyed to make self portraits of me with my family . I recommend the Gorilla pod . I attached it to the stroller everywhere ! Having a little boy , I learnt to make sequences of shoots with the auto-shutter . I have recently purchased the Telephoto and adapter rings to use my old filters with this camera . Once I have tried them enough I would write the proper reviews .
    • 001 4  I exchanged a Canon SX100 for this camera , and I am so glad I did . This camera is lightening fast with flash shots ( compared to the VERY SLOW Canon ) . Indoor pictures are great as well as outdoor . I have taken a ton of pictures and very few have been slightly blurry , most come out clear with good color . Flash looks natural , as opposed to the canon which would either over or under expose shots . I love that the camera is compact and small enough to fit in a regular camera case , but yet still has the long reach 10x optical zoom . I also love the 3 LCD . Pros : - Compact with 10x optical zoom - 3 LCD - Good indoor photos - No delay in between shots - Battery meter always showing - Slide show with music is too cool ! Cons : ( Very minor and do not take away from camera at all ) - No automatic lens cover ( has lens cap ) - No zoom in video mode ( although if I want great video , I'll use my video camera ) - Comes with Shoulder strap - I prefer wrist strap ( Fixed by ordering a wrist strap off ebay for $2 ) If you want a compact camera with a lot of zoom and good quality pictures , definitely go with this one . The only other cameras that have same features : Canon SX100 ( too slow between flash , indoor shots are not good ) , Panasonic TZ3 ( reviews say picture quality not good ) , and Canon G9 ( only has 6x zoom and has a hefty price tag ) . To me , the Sony is the way to go for the average shooter who mainly shoots in automatic mode but occasionally plays with other settings . I have owned for about a week , if anything changes , I will update my review , but so far - GREAT ! ! ! !
    • 002 4  I've had this camera for about three weeks and have taken several hundred pictures with it . It takes excellent pictures with amazing detail and color . Despite the fact that I am often photographing moving children , fewer than 5% of the pictures have been blurry . This camera's ability to take excellent action shots with no blur is one of its strongest features , in my opinion . A second superior feature of the camera , relative to the last camera I bought recently and returned ( Canon Powershot SX 100IS ) is the fast next shot delay . This camera is ready to take another picture , even after using the flash , relatively quickly . I say relatively because there is still a delay , but compared to the sluggish Canon , it is a great improvement . If you don't have the flash on , then the next shot delay is very fast . Also , the time the camera is ready to take the first picture from the time I take it out of the camera bag is quite short . I have tried taking close up pictures of jewelry with the macro setting , which is only a one-button press . I thought it did a pretty decent job , although I did have to play around with the lighting to make sure that the flash didn't get reflected . Another superior feature of this camera , relative to the Canon mentioned above , is the operation of the zoom . I find that I can control the exact amount of zoom with the button , whereas with the Canon , the zoom seemed to jump discontinuously . For the amount of power ( meaning the 10x zoom ) and precision of this camera , it is very light ( under a pound ) and compact . I was able to take a whole series of shots at the playground using just one hand with no trouble , and the weight of the camera did not cause my hand to get tired . Another feature I really like is that after taking a bunch of pictures , you can review them as a slide show with music and special effects . I did this at the end of a dinner party and was able to instantly show guests a slide show of the dinner on the camera . As far as negative features , there are only two that I have discovered . The first is that there is a lens cap that has to be put on and taken off manually . You attach the cap to the camera strap with a string , so it's not a big problem ; just a little inconvenient . In contrast , Canons ' lens covers are built in , and the lens is covered with just a press of a button . The second negative feature is common to all Sony products and that is their proprietary accessories . The camera requires a Sony rechargeable battery ( one comes with the camera , as does the recharger , but I bought an extra one ) and a Sony pro-duo memory card . For me this is worth it because I really like Sony cameras . In summary , I think this camera takes excellent pictures while being lightweight and compact . It's a good camera for a person like me , who often wants to take pictures of kids moving without having to mess with a bunch of settings to change the camera speed . I am very happy with this camera and highly recommend it to people who have similar needs . Sony Cybershot DSCH10 / B 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot

    • 006 4  I really liked this camera most of all for its speed in taking the pictures , captured my dog so clearly as he was jumping in the air , awesome ! ! Zoom is great . I would have kept this camera for the great pictures but the following reasons really annoyed me : 1 . the lens cap has to be taken off manually , hangs by a string , no clip to attach to the camera strap . If you don't take it completly off it gets in the way of shooting . 2 . the on / off button is very tiny and is flush on the top of the camera making it sometimes difficult to turn on or off especially in a hurry . 3 . no delete button , have to go through too many steps to delete a picture . 4 . should be an indentation on the back for your thumb to rest and a better grip .
    • 009 4  When I purchased this camera , it was a toss up between the Sony and the Canon G9 ( Not a Panasonic fan so the Lumix was not an option ) . Although the Canon has more megapixels and costs a hundred or so more , I found the Sony to be the better choice . The Sony is more compact and lightweight , and offers more optical zoom than the Canon . Obviously I am not a professional photographer , but as a dad with three children this was the better choice for me for sports , concerts , special moments , and the like . It is a great camera for the buyer who wants both the auto feature with a great deal of zoom , and for the more more experienced and adventerous shooter who seeks out manual controls . It is not a pocket-sized camera , but it is very compact for the features it offers . I uploaded two photos ( Bumble Bee and Zucchini ) that I ordered in 5x7 prints and the quality and clarity amazed me . This is my second Cyber-Shot and I am completely satisfied . • 010 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) This camera has enabled me to take equally great photos at my kids ' Little League games and when out seeing bands - and so much more . The videos are awesome . All-around easy to use point-and-shoot with excellent zoom ability . A good option before the SLR-like model step .
    • 013 4  Camera is a fine product that overcomes the delay factor in most digital cameras that of pushing the button then the 1 / 4 second delay while all people stop smiling and the action completes and then the picture of nothing memorable happens . This one is fast for its price and will service the work I have for it nicely . Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot
    • 016 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) the camera is quite compact . what i like most about it is that my attachments from my older camera fits this camera also . i also like the fact that you can take decent photos without the flash . there is only two things that are minor which i don't particularly care for . one is there is not a separate view finder where you can save on battery life . another is which i knew about before was you have to have lens cover off to engage the camera . other than that i am really happy with my purchase . i got my camera in a timely manner and it works great . thank you
    • 018 4  I have had this camera for 8 months now and have put it through a lot of use , and I mean A LOT of use . I originally bought it for group shots of friends , parties , my numerous summer vacations and anything else . I have brought it to numerous reggae / electronic shows and the videos ( and sound ) came out amazing . I am an inexperienced photographer and figuring out the buttons and taking pictures is as easy as pie . My friends all have DSLRs and I wanted something that I would actually be able to work and know wha the buttons were , and this camera packs the perfect punch . Uploading the pictures and videos onto the computer is super easy also , it's basically plug-in and press ' upload ' . My favorite part of this camera is its capabilities for shooting landscapes and scenic photos . I do a good amount of hiking and scenic photos of lakes and mountains are something that this camera shoots very well . After looking through the 350 pictures I took during my vacation to Canada , my brother said that a good amount of them looked like they were professionaly taken . Many friends said the scenic pictures were frame worthy , which says a lot about an advanced point-and-shoot . Also , the zoom is excellent . While we were fishing in Canada , I was able to catch a loon landing in the lake from about 60 - 80 feet away . The only cons about this camera are that it doesnt have an automatic lens cover ( though it comes with one ) and the fact that you cant zoom while taking a video . I dont mind either ; the lens cap that it comes with can be tied onto the camera so you can take it off without having to put it in your pocket , and if you want a camera that zooms while in video , get a videocamera ! Other than that , buy this camera because I feel it is the best camera around the 200 - 300 $ range . It's an advanced point and shoot with some SLR capabilities . Also , it does come with a battery but i would suggest getting an extra one since you will always be ready for extra shots if your original dies . I dont think it comes with a memory card , so make sure to pick one up . If your going on vacation for more than a week or so and will fill up the memory card , pick up an extra one . Its well worth it . . . Trust me , this camera will make any amateur photographer look like a pro !
    • 022 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) This camera appears to be a good value purchase .
    • 025 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) I bought this camera for our office of about 35 transportation engineers . We have a small army of cameras that we take out for Field Work in the rain , sleet , and snow , and all of them must be durable and able to take detailed shots quickly in both good and bad lighting . This little guy has become a fast favorite of all the cameras , as it's easy to hold in your hand , takes steady shots in even the darkest of areas ( it's all about the settings ) and seems to be able to take a beating . The features are easy enough for even a novice to use , and everyone is able to upload the pictures onto their computers without any problems . A GREAT BUY ! !

    • 027 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) I bought this camera for my sister-in-law who is not a pro picture taker . . . . it takes the thinking out of taking pics . Very easy to use with great results . Nice , bright 3 screen on the back of the camera . Battery life seems to be very good . Great overall camera .
    • 029 4  Found this camera very easy to use and focus . Produces excellent pictures . Though there may be better more sophisticated camers , the DSCH10 is small and light making it easy to use and transport .
    • 031 4  I have a larger SLR digital Nikon and a pocket Canon , but this Sony is now my favorite , most used camera . Convenient size , lots of useful features , fairly fast , built-in flash is more powerful than other small cameras . I like the mode wheel being visible in the view screen when the actual mode wheel is turned . Takes great shots and the zoom is far better than most digitals . Not as small as my pocket Canon but still small enough to fit easily into a waist pack or purse . I like the ability to use filters with this camera and have purchased UV and polarizing filters for it . Only thing I would want to change would be to have a view finder window for the eye , which would save battery power and is better for low light viewing . One tiny problem is that while holding the camera , my hand touches the mode wheel and accidentally changes modes occasionally . Otherwise , a great feature packed little camera ! Added Mar 2009 - Took a few evening shots of space shuttle launch this month , from my home 75 miles south of Kennedy Space Center . Not only did the photos come out well , even in low light conditions , the camera actually caught the external fuel tank being jettisoned and the two booster rockets falling to earth behind the shuttle , the latter just two pin points of light , but definitely visible . This was hand held , no tripod . I love this little camera !
    • 033 4  The DSC-H10 is a very good camera . It is light weight and small enough to carry in your pocket . The camera seems to be quite durable as well . The camera is really good outdoors , and the macro feature is excellent . It is easy to get good macro shots with this camera . There is a bit of noise at higher ISO settings , but it is hardly noticeable up to to ISO 400 when making 8 by 10 prints . Anything over ISO 400 and the picture starts to look bad . The auto mode will usually produce a good picture . The manual settings are easy to use when you need more control over your camera . I found that most of the other modes were not very useful my purposes ; I usually kept the camera on manual or automatic . The flash can take a little of bit of time to recharge . So make your shot count if you are using the flash with a moving subject . So far , I have taken over 6,000 pictures with the camera without any issues . Overall , the DSC-H10 is a very good point and shoot camera .
    • 036 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) We are very happy with the Sony Cybershot . The zoom is very good especially for a point and shoot . The organizing folders in the camera are also very handy particularly when you cant get to a computer to upload the photos right away . We would recommend this camera .
    • 039 4  This is a great camera for an amateur to semi-pro photographer . It has a great variety of features and flexibility that allow some great picture taking . I obtained mine slightly used for $180 and it is an excellent value for the money . The pictures I've taken have come out crisp and clear . There is only a slightly higher brightness than the natural setting , but this is easily corrected with Photoshop or other software or through the camera itself . Picture selection can be set at low pixels to 8.1 MP resolution for whatever purposes one may have . Of course , if one desires to produce huge pictures greater than 15 sizes , a higher resolution camera is needed . But for me , this is an excellent camera and I couldn't be happier with it .
    • 043 4  I did a lot of home work before getting the Sony Cyber Shot D S H10 It is a great camera , fast next shot perfect pictures without flash on the iso setting the only negative on this camera is having to remove the lense cover .
    • 047 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) I got this for my husband and he is thrilled with the camera . We both have digital SLR's and he uses this as his hiking , biking camera . Great shots , easy to use .
    • 049 4  This camera is a great deal for the price . DSLR's are nice , but I don't use or need a camera anywhere near enough to justify spending DSLR money . That makes this camera the perfect choice for me . The pictures look great and the image stabilization works perfectly . The camera is also quick to take a shot , as opposed to some cameras where you hit the button and wait . . . wait . . . wait . . . and by the time the picture is taken you've missed your candid shot . I was particularly impressed with the optical zoom . I found myself walking around the house just zooming in on small objects from across the room and snapping pics just to see how they would turn out , and the pic turns out so well that you really wouldn't even know that it was a zoomed shot . The video quality is pretty good but I really wish you could zoom while in video mode , which you can't . Not a huge deal , but it definitely would have been a nice feature to have . I did not bother installing the Sony software as I don't feel that it's necessary . I simply plugged the camera into my laptop's USB port , Vista automatically installed some drivers and I was ready to start transferring pics to my hard drive in just a few seconds . In summary , I would highly recommend this camera to anybody that wants a digital camera with an excellent zoom but can not justify spending big money on a DSLR . There probably is not a better camera in this price range at this time .
    • 050 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) All it took to ruin my 4 year old former pocket digital camera was one careless drop from the breakfast table - - the fragile case dented and the lens became jammed ; this experience convinced me that rugged reliability trumps both cute , & pocket-sized convenience . Several reviews describing the DSC-H10 design intrigued me , as well as my wife's satisfaction with her Sony SLR ; the DSC-H10 is only slightly larger than pocket digitals and I find it much more convenient than the much larger SLR . I take pictures of construction , special projects , bids and family occasions , so my needs are not a shirt-pocket size form factor . One of the great designs of this camera is the body ( naturally cradles in your right hand . ) I will probably never use the 10 minute sight / sound / motion video function , but the wide viewing screen , crystal sharp focus , and picture modes are remarkable . Plan to order the Sony custom case as well - - and don't plan to keep this camera in your shirt pocket - - just expect it to work when you need it .

    • 052 4  I really want a digital SLR . Since I can't afford it , and I could afford this , I try to be satisfied . It's very light and the lag time is minimal . Colours are fresh and the resolution is as you would expect for a $200ish 8mp . The lens cap is really annoying , it feels flimsy and you can't turn on the camera without first removing it , even if you just want to look back at past photos . Overall a good purchase , and it will keep me taking pictures until I can get the camera I REALLY want , but can't afford .

    • 061 4  I'm not a professional photographer . . . So , what I expect is descent pictures in the automatic mode . However , indoor pictures are absolutely horrible with this camera ( trust me , I read similar comments from other users and didn't believe and went ahead because of the Sony brand ) . In low light and no flash the pictures come out blurry . . . If you use flash the face of the person is so bright and absolutely not nice . I upgraded from a smaller zoom old canon since I got an infant and really wanted to get nice shots inside of the house with him . However I absolutely cannot use the flash since will blind the poor baby . . . However the outdoor pictures , with its powerful zoom are great . I tried to improve my skills in using manual mode , but no luck . . . I'm sorry to disagree with the majority , but I'm going back to Canons . . . ( I just didn't return the camera because I let the 90 days expire without trying the camera much ) . . .
    • 062 4  This camera is easy to use , even if you have not owned a digital camera before .0yt does have features new to me , but with the manual that comes with it , you can find directions to use all the features with ease.It also comes with software that is very usefull . Overall it is a quality camera with accessaries at a good price . Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot
    • 063 4  This review is from : Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 8.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot ( Electronics ) This was my third Sony digital camera . When I used a print SLR , I had a Nikon N90 ; the best . . . ! For the price , you can't beat these Sony's . Many of my friends and my own daughter has the Cannon's . But honestly , I do prefer the Sony for overall results . If I had to find a complaint , it would have to be the fact that the Sony has a manual lens cap , where Cannon is automatic .

    • 070 4  Without a doubt this camera takes nice pictures and it lives up to it's name Steady Shot . However , there are two flaws . The Zoom button is in such a place that you find yourself zooming when you don't mean to . Your thumb ends up on the zoom if you hold the camera by the handle . Secondly , I just took the camera on vacation and I found that the battery died fairly quickly - much quicker than my last camera . I was charging the camera every evening , but still the charge did not last throughout a whole day . So , I just ordered an extra battery , which was about $30 .
    • 073 4  i was going to get the sony h50 but i did find it very pricey . so i got this one and i love it ! nice in door and out door pictures . fast . lonng life battery . 3 inch lcd . small super zoom . love it ! ! ! recommend to everybody .
