Tekken 6

  • 043 4  Listen I am a extreme hardcore Tekken fan but I hated Tekken 6 review . First of all , Scenario Campaign mode was the worst thing that could ever happen in Tekken 6 . Forcing this mode into the main game of Tekken 6 was dreadful . Scenario Campaign mode should not been the main mode to unlock everything in the game . It felt like a bad 3d imitation of Fighting Force or Streets of Rage . The player was forced to endure this mode to unlock everything in the game . That was horrible Namco . You , Namco are chasing away gamers outside the Tekken fan base and some of the Tekken fans . The player loses interest after losing a stage in Scenario Campaign mode a ton of times . The player can money money in matches but it is not as much as Scenario Campaign . Was Scenario Campaign mode the only thing that Tekken 6 has to offer to make serious money ? In addition , the ranking system in Tekken 6 was downright intolerable . Players whom played Tekken 5 DR online for PS3 had a better experience because of the ranking system . Players in Tekken 5 DR online had the freedom to rank up in that game online and offline . In Tekken 6 once a player reaches First Dan , the player is forced to play online to continue to rank up . That is unfair to anyone who doesn't wish to participate on online activates in Tekken 6 . Furthermore , the players experience online can become unplayable and , it can lag even after numerous of patches were uploaded . For die hard Tekken fans character customization might have been okay . However , for other players who have played other games such as Soul Calibur 4 , the character customization in Tekken 6 was too limited . Players that are not a part of the hardcore fan base are sick and tired of not being about to create a character in the Tekken franchise . Tekken 6 only having character customization is no fun and very unappealing to other players that are not a diehard Tekken fan . The players can only customize in game characters and the items in the game are way too expensive and limited . In Tekken 6 the player was unable to change the color skin of the character and was stuck with whoever was in the game . Players have experienced Soul Calibur 4 . The items where cheaper and the player was allow to change the color of the items that were purchase as much as they see fit . Namco you try to fool the player with tricks like selling the same item with different colors in Tekken 6 . That is unacceptable . Hey don't waste your money on Tekken 6 . You would rather play Tekken 5 DR online for PS3 .
    • 079 4  I love the addition of new characters in Tekken 6 . The graphics are definitely a step up in the Namco's Playstation 3 debut of Tekken . Pros : Good background stage music , new characters , same combos ( might be different buttons ) , excellent graphics and levels Cons : The online is always laggy , and they haven't incorporated online co-op yet which sucks . They also need to bring back Tekken Tag mode , which is always great for 4 player game modes . Awful decision that they abandoned it .
    • 082 4  Got it through today's deal in amazon . was real cheap ! ! It's Tekken , fun to play , fun to watch . Good stuff ! !
    • 175 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Tekken 6 is a must buy for anybody who is into fighting games.Even though it took almost three years to release on to consoles ; it was worth waiting for . Tekken 6 outshines the previous game in many ways : it has better graphics , Trophies , lots of diversity ( a total of 30 character ) , six of them are new . It also has a new single player mode called Scenario Campaign - - whitch is basically a newer version of the Tekken Force Mode seen in the previous games . The Scenario Campaign gives the game a strong replay value , there are many things you can unlock for your character. The only problem I had with the game was the mulitplayer , just like in T5DR , the game lags really badley online ; almost to the point where it is unplayable. But that doesn't hurt the game too Tekken 6 much because Tekken 6 is a really fun game to play even if your not playing it online .

Players look so fake that they made by wax . There is no face expression , dull looking look . Some arenas are good to play in , but some arenas so bad lighted that you hardly see anything around . It's not worth the money maybe when its $13 or so . I liked Tekken DR better than this newly overly graphically killed game .

  • 053 4  I've always loved the Tekken series . More than any other fighting game . In all honesty , Tekken 6 delivers everything that I've loved about the past Tekken games . But the ability to play online matches was the one thing I looked foreward to most about Tekken 6 , and the online play just isn't there at all . The amount of lag in the online matches is just unexceptable . Every online match I've played so far was impossible because of the tremendous amount of lag . At times I'll press a button and it takes more than a full second before my character responds . Even when I'm lucky enough to land a hit , some of the simplest combos in the game are utterly impossible to finish in online matches because the lag is so bad . You may as well forget about online 10 hits or juggles altogether . I've played plenty of games online with virtually no lag problems , so I know my internet connection isn't to blame . In fact , after 2 hours of playing Tekken 6 online without a SINGLE match that wasn't ruined by lag , I played a few rounds of SF4 and didn't notice any lag at all . Tekken 6 is a solid game aside from the online issues , but if you've been looking forward to playing it online you'll be sorely disappointed . Hopefully Namco can fix this . . .

OMG ! ! and if i hadn't of found that out i woulda been bored forever trying to open the endings in vs . mode ! ! ! Thanks to an online buddy , kato-cha in austrailia who helped me out and showed me the way of Tekken Force and to Namco Bandai for those little bonus t-shirts that seem to come from no where in PS Home ! ! ( Although the 6 on the latest one is kinda fem , too bad we can give them to other vitua-players ! ! If you are a Tekken fan you'll love it , if not this is THE best fighter there is out there , and the graphics are as real as Avatar is a movie ! !

    • 241 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) As a long time Tekken fan I'm happy to write the newest installment is awesome . First off the character models are very polished ( maybe a little too much . ) However the environments have incredible detail . Online play is alot more fluid this time around . you don't lose connection via mic when battling online . They have also added a new ranking system . Offline play offers the same modes as usual . Story mode is back this year and its as boring as ever . I wish they would bring back bowling . There are 5 new characters . I was very impressed with the new fighting styles these characters bring . There are new feautres as the bounce technique . this is where during a combo you can bounce your opponent against the ground to continue a juggle . Also weapons have been added but only as a combo finisher ( except for yoshimitsu . ) Overall I strongly recommend this game to any hardcore fighting fan . The depth and detail is awesome !

  • 169 4  I am not really going to write out an extensive review on how Tekken 6 plays , or what are its high and low points . You can check out your favorite video game website for that . What I will say is this . . . I have been a fan of Tekken fighting games since the original Tekken on the Playstation back in the day . I played all of the Tekken games up through Tekken 4 , and my favorite of all of them was Tekken 2 , with Tekken Tag Tournament coming in as a close second . I skipped Tekken 5 , but I don't seem to have missed much there . What I can say about Tekken 6 is , the fighting game that Tekken lovers have come to know is awesome as it always has been . Learning combos , stringing together properly timed blocks and reversals , and pulling off throws are more fun that they ever have been . The fighting game rocks , and the graphics ain't half bad , although they didn't seem any more impressive than Virtua Fighter 5 , which is 2 years old . Although , after playing Uncharted 2 for 10 hours it is hard to be impressed by other game's visuals . There is little else good about Tekken 6 besides the fighting game aspect . . In short , the scenario mode is TERRIBLE ! ! ! Personally , I cannot recommend anyone purchase this game unless you are a die-hard fighting game fan and will spend days and nights taking on AI or human opponents . Otherwise , do yourself a favor and pick up a better game like Uncharted 2 or Assassin's Creed 2 .
    • 145 4  I purchased this Tekken 6 for their technical hand - hand combat techniques , awesome for those like myself wanting to learn new offensive and defensive skills with variation . Great Graphic ! This game is absolutely better than SF IV and Virtue Fighter 5 , for the fanatics , this game is a must have for PS3 and PSP . Play a little , you might learn new fighting techniques that could save your life .
    • 167 4  This game is really interesting and fun . The design and graphics throughout the game are amazing ! One factor that I do not like is the prevalent Japanese voice-overs . Despite the fact that there are English subtitles , being able to hear a majority of the characters in English would have been great . Otherwise , I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fighting genre fan , or someone who simply loves the Tekken series as much as I do .

What a disapointment and let down this game is.I know fighting games shouldnt be easy but when are they going to release a fighting game that isnt fake . First of all when fighting the computer , the AI characters block everything you dish out , the juggle combos are to much , you cant even fall on the ground before getting half your life taken away from a juggle combo. Most of my favorite characters are now lame , the last guy is a joke.I had to stop playing before I smashed my controller. The only good thing about this game is the graphics and sound , other than that you might as well take the $ [ . . . ] and wipe with it .

  • 213 4  My impressions of the game is that it is a good 3D figther for old and new fans alike but for online gamers like myself it falls short of expections , i have a Fios connection and still the game plays slow to the point that its very difficult to execute a juggle combo or any combo for that matter ( low blocking is terrible also ) , i have Tekken 5 DR and even though it has lag issues of its own its somewhat manageable compared to Tekken 6 , it doesn't have a match lobby ( for ranked matches ) that you can choose to enter , it randomly chooses your opponent for your to fight against and your win percentage is with what ever character that u select as supposed to your overall online user name in Tekken 5 . The offline aspect of the game however is enjoyable , the robust characters makes this game one of most among current fighting titles ( well maybe DBZ games have more ) , story mode is kinda short but interesting and vs . mode is great for 1 on 1 friendly matches with your buddies ( locally not online ) . Overall if you like playing online you will be frustrated due to some serious lag issues other than that its solid title that's is good for renting as supposed to buying .
    • 001 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) The Good : LOTS of characters to play , with plenty of depth and technical mastery required to truly master the game . If memorizing complex juggles , 5 - 10 hit combos , safe / unsafe moves , and the frame data for your moves and the moves of your opponents sounds like ' good times ' for you then this game has got you covered . The Bad : Everything else . The graphics look waxy and dated compared to other recent releases ( SC4 which was released by the same company . . . ) , the scenario campaign is a tedious grind - - hint : choose Devil Jin as your free unlockable and thank me later - - although it's not the torture others make it out to be , and most are reporting the online play is laggy ( although I didn't notice it the few times I went online to remind myself that I am a horrible Kazuya player ) . Final verdict : The hardcore purists will enjoy the game for it's depth and steep skill requirement - - and be frustrated with the online play , but those of you just looking for a pretty game to sit on the couch and button-mash with your girlfriend , you might want to skip this one .

Though I will admit it does suffer by having in fact only one theme like most fighting games ( just senseless beating of the opponent ) and the scenario campaign is boring at times , however that is overshadowed with a netplay feature for people of a huge skill range . overall the game is balanced fun and pretty much anything a 3d fighter should be . Definitely something i can recommend you to buy .

  • 237 4  I have been waiting for this game for a long time , now that it is here I couldn't wait to play it . First things first , this is one of the greatest fighting games of all time when it comes to gameplay . Now as far as the story mode it's a little different but you have to adapt to it . The graphics are great , but the music is awful , but I can look past that. All in all if your a tekken fan you will love this game .
    • 022 4  This game is a lots of fun . It offers a great deal of challenge without being rediculous . I also liked the option of being able to change the characters outfits , and the large selection of folks you have to choose from .
    • 101 4  I mash buttons . I haven't won many games but I still play . should give you an idea that its a pretty fun game .
    • 203 4  I was so excited to get this game . I spent money that I don't have . Boy , was I disappointed by the shoddy gameplay . The graphics are awful . Why in the world would Tekken 6 , something that took years to make , have bad graphics ? There is no excuse for it . The load times are pathetically long . This used to be one of my favorite franchises , but I don't think I will be purchasing any more Tekkens . Awful .
    • 221 4  This is such a great game . I have always been a fan of fighting games and Tekken has always been a winner . Tekken 6 really gets you into the game . You get a great Campaign mode that is challenging and fun . You get a ton of characters with a ton of custimizations for each of them . You can go wrong with this game . Insane graphics to . Buy it from Amazon , the price is far better than anywhere else i went to .

  • 249 4  This game is a great and enjoyable fighting game just like the other Tekken games . However I had high expectations for this game because I had to wait so long for it to be released . In my opinion this game should have came out at least 2 years ago since it was in development for at least four years . I was really hoping to see a one player friendly versus mode like Soul Calibur 4 and Street Fighter 4 have . It turns out that you can only access the versus mode with another controller and you can't fight any computer opponent that you want at any time . I also thought that a computer vs . computer mode would also be nice but was lacking . But what I really wanted to have happen was to have a create your own character mode like in Soul Calibur 4 . This would have been worth the long wait if it was put into the game . Being able to edit the existing characters is great and the depth of it especially in the scenario campaign mode is deep ( similar to Soul Calibur 4 in some ways ) . There are at least 40 characters in the game . The fighting is very deep and there are a lot more combos to try to learn which is a great thing and should add lots of replay value to the game . The final boss is very cheap just like in other fighting games . He has these long range attacks that are hard to block and he is just too powerful overall . The scenario campaign mode is pretty cool too . I think it would have been better if ALL of the characters spoke in English however . The game also has a custom soundtrack feature which I thought was great and rare for a PS3 game . Just push the PS button lightly and then go to the music section and you should be able to access it . This is still a great game that all fighting game fans should at least try out .
    • 073 4  The game is good if you like tekken series . If you don't like the tekken series don't buy it , this game is not going to change your mind . Online problems got fix and I didn't get bad lag .
    • 088 4  All in all , Tekken 6 was a great addition to the series . The graphics may not be quite up to par with some other next gen games but compared to the last PS2 Tekken game it was a real treat to see all my favorite characters again in high definition . I personally like Tekken 6 for two major reasons . First , the customization system is very robust and set up in such a way that it will take a long time to attain every single piece of clothing and accessory . For me , that extends the life of the game because I'm always unlocking something new . Second , Tekken 6 is a great fighter to entertain with because some pretty amazing fights came come from pure button mashing from friends and family who have never played before . Not to say that it can't be mastered , Tekken games usually have a high learning curve that requires practice to perfect . Overall I recommend this game to anyone who likes fighters and all fans of Tekken 6 . Especially for the low price it can be bought for here at Amazon.com , its a steal .

The normal arcade story mode has been taken out for a pseudo 3D Streets of Rage Campaign mode , local multiplayer ( as in not over the internet ) has been kinda nerfed in that 2nd player can't keep a customized control scheme , nor is there split screen / local multiplayer in general in the Campaign mode ( even though there is online multiplayer ) , and 2nd player can't choose any costumes . On the topic of customization , it's quite deep , but I wish they'd allowed for more costume slots on each character ( some only have 2 ) . Online gameplay is fun as well as just normal gameplay in general . Besides those few gripes , it's a very solid 3D fighting game .

    • 240 4  To date I have played every Tekken game and in my opinion the biggest leap for the series both in terms of presentation and gameplay was from ps1 to ps2 . Ps2 to ps3 ? Not so much . I mean , it's always been a solid fighter , and with each iteration came new fighters , a few new modes here and there , and graphical improvements , but nothing groundbreaking . After downloading Dark Resurrection on PS3 , the remake of the same PSP title , I was eagerly anticipating Tekken 6 , but when I popped the disc in , I felt slight disappointment . While the whole package was serviceable , it wasn't what I expected . Graphically , it seemed light they got away with using the lowest poly-count they could , while throwing on tons of bloom lighting and fancy textures as cover-up . Load times are horrble between fights and there's no excuse for that in a fighting game ! The characters still animate stifly in real-time cut scenes and the voice acting is only passable . Convoluted as the story of Tekken has become , I wish they gave more service to the individual characters . As a replacement for a real story mode they include a Campaign mode a la streets of rage , which grew on me after a few stages but its nothing more thana means to earn money for items . All in all , the best feature is the giant roster . Each character is different enough from the next to warrant a go and the selection puts other fighters to shame . The new characters are also awesome to play as . I'd recommend Tekken 6 to any fighting game enthusiast , but if you didn't like Tekken before this one won't be changing your mind .

  • 257 4  Honestly , i expected more from Scamco . They pretty much made us wait over 3 years for the console release of this game , anD for what ? they are just giving us a mediocre display of online netcode and graphics design . NAMCO YOU REALLY SCREWED THIS TIME ! ! ! !

  • Load Times ) ( 2 : Difficulty ) ( 3 : Online ) ( 4 : Scenario Campaign ) ( 5 : Customization ) ( 6 : The Final Verdict ) * * * BAD * * * ( 1 ) : * * Load Times * * * Overall : Not bad * While they aren't disastrously long , they do have the how long have I been waiting ? effect . . . atleast for me . Since I figured out that I could Install this game to the Hard-drive [ HDD ] ( The option to install the game is located in the Options , in the Tekken main menu ) it has SLIGHTLY decreased the load times . . . slightly , meaning that the effect will become unnoticeable once you get used to it . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ( 2 ) : * * Difficulty * * * Overall : Horrible * It's not that the Difficulty settings are horrible , it's just that they are so absurd to the point of non-existence . This game has 5 difficulty settings : Easy , Normal , Hard , Very Hard , Ultra Hard . The deal breaker for me is this , it seems like Difficulty doesn't mean a thing , it's what character you're fighting against . ( Example ) I was trying to get the trophy for getting a 10 - in-a-row in Survival Mode on Normal . I died by round 3 , * Note , this isn't because I Can't play , or I suck * So I then changed to Easy difficulty , because Normal in Survival was a tad bit too hard , and what do you know ? On Easy , Survival , the enemies block 70% of your attacks , and if you don't kill them fast enough , they'll unleash 10 - hit combos like they didn't know better . . . and that's on round 1 ! This , to me , is just plain sad . . . You might be thinking that I suck , can't even get to 10 on survival , that's just not the case . Maybe you'll beat 7 rounds , then all of a sudden Bob comes up and completely obliterates you with his 10 - hit combo , block streak , and low-attack obsession . It's so frustrating that I was this close to never playing the game again . The only characters that kills me / depletes a lot of HP are Zafina , Bob , and occasionally Ling Xiaoyu . The difficulty in the rest of the game , however , is at the most part ' decent ' . The final boss , Azazel ( In arcade mode ) will have you throwing the controller and messing up your Kill / Death ratio in an instant . To put is simply , he's a big dragon , he's very strong , and he isn't affected at all when he blocks ( meaning he can attack you whenever he wants , even while blocking ) . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ( 3 ) : * * Online * * * Overall : Laggy * A lot of people say that the Playstation Network Patch ( applied once you turn on Tekken 6 with an internet connection active ) makes the online play less-laggy . While this may be true , there are a great majority of people using Mobile Broadband , as I am . I don't know why , but it seems like all fighting games ' servers are user created , meaning the lag will depend entirely on the persons connection you're connected to . When it should be you create a server that's hosted by , say Namco , and it will only depend on your own connection . This all boils down to 2 things : ( 1 The person you're connected to doesn't have a connection good enough for 2 people , and ( 2 Most likely the person you'll be playing is in another continent , meaning that's additional lag with the distance . Either way , it's still laggy at the end of the day . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ( 4 ) : * * Scenario Campaign Mode * * * Overall : Six out of Ten * Scenario Campaign Mode is , for the most part , fun . There are a few things that are annoying though . The big disappointment with this game , is that it revolves around Scenario Campaign Mode . Which means the only good way to get money is to do this mode , otherwise get around 2 or 3,000g a battle in Ghost Battle ( Arcade w / Ranking , similar to the main Arcade mode in Tekken 5 ) Now the bad thing about Scenario Campaign mode , besides that Tekken 6 revolves around it , . . . well that pretty much is the bad thing . Since Tekken 6 revolves around Scenario Campaign Mode , you'd think that this mode would be a beast ( good ) . Wrong , this mode has a very bad targeting system , and your fighting primarily counts on this , you are able to use the same combos as in a regular arcade battle , even though you'll most likely be using the same combination of moves over and over . You press R1 ( Or was it L1 ? I've forgotten whilst writing this review ! ) to change targets , but it only targets who's closest to you , this is a very bad thing if you're trying to kill to a certain enemy . Weather its getting kicked from the back , or shoved into the water and killed in the front , you'll be frustrated until you get very used to this . Movement is horrible in this mode , it's almost 8 - Directional . ( Left , Right , Up , Down , Top-left , Bottom-left , Bottom-right , top-right ) When you get close enough to an enemy you start your battle stance , and while you're in this stance your movement is reduced to slow steps , since you automatically target the enemy . The only way to break this Battle Stance is to run far enough from the target . . . there is no button to start free-running again , only until that fight is over or you make distance . You have an AI ( bot ) partner , Alisa , with you the whole while that fights with you . . . but I find her sometimes-useless , because when you get a certain distance from her in battle , she'll tend to start dying quicker . Her costume depends on what you're wearing ( If you're wearing costume #1 , then her costume will be #1 ) , so you can also customize her outfit as , say , Costume #1 , and she'll be wearing that as long as you have #1 on as well . The mode has pre-rendered cutscenes of Lars and Alisa , which means the story and cutscenes are of them , no matter what character you're playing with . This mode is single-player , and online-co op only . I've never played online-co op . The camera is angled from back to forward , meaning no matter which way you go , the camera will be angled straight-ahead , not behind your back ) Besides that , Scenario Campaign is fun , although this is one of the few games I've skipped a few movie scenes . . . they just are boring and no action whatsoever , just Lars and Alisa looking at everything , and then more and more boring dialogue . Only times I don't skip is when I see some of my favorite characters in them . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * * * GOOD * * * ( 5 ) : * * Customization * * * Overall : Great * Customization in this Tekken has been pushed to new heights . It is no longer just lame sword-on-your-back , outfit color-changer . Now , on top of outfit color-changing and lame swords-on-your-back , you can now completely change his or her outfit , and accessories . From Hat and Glasses , Jackets & Jeans , to Shirts & Skirts , and more ! Even Aura's ( I haven't bought these yet . . . $7 million + . ) You can also buy Hair Bases , which are slick-backed hairstyles that can be customized with extra hair ! Example : You can buy Ponytail High Base , and now go to the Hair Back section and buy Pony Tails for the back of your hair ! They also have really long Pony Tails / free-flowing hair . This is just a great customization , its just a shame that you have to play Scenario Campaign mode to get enough money , unless you want to grind hardcore in Arcade mode , but honestly , that's just not an option , these customizations range from 100,000g to 3,000,000g ( 100k to 3mil ) . Enemies in Campaign Mode also drop Treasure Chests sometimes that , when walked on , opens up and gives you a customization item , the armor in Scenario Campaign also gives bonuses ( 20% chance to freeze enemy on hit / Attacks deal 20% more damage ) . This customization makes me want to replay Scenario Campaign for enough money to buy other items for other people . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ( 6 ) : * * The Final Verdict * * * Overall : 4 * I'm sure you're probably wondering why I give it a 4 , with so many BAD things , and only one GOOD thing . Well that's because of The Final Verdict , which is great . I give it a 4 and not 5 , because of all of the BAD things , but the GOOD far overcomes the BAD . Customization isn't the only good thing in this game of course , Scenario Campaign is great , just have to get over , and used to the bad things , which isn't necessarily hard . The Arcade Mode is great , just like the rest of the Tekken's . My review was basically on Customization and Scenario Campaign , seeing as how they are both newer / new . Some say this isn't a button masher / sit-down & play game , but it is for the most part . On here you can actually do a 3 - hit combo and look good , whereas on Soul Calibur IV , those 3 - hit combos just look a little lame , and make you seem like you don't know any moves . * NOTES * To unlock movie scenes , you have to go to the Arena in Scenario Campaign mode . It's unlocked after a few places are beaten in Scenario Campaign . The Arena is the true Arcade Mode in this Tekken , it has 4 or 5 battles , 5th battle is Azazel , 4th battle is a bonus stage , it comes sometimes , and sometimes it doesn't . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bottom line : ( 1 : I rented it . ( 2 : I liked it . ( 3 : I got mad and hated it . ( 4 . I finally took a detailed looked at the Customization . and ( 5 : I want to buy it . If this review hasn't helped you , then I don't know what will . My favorite characters in order : Miguel ( 1 ) , Lili ( 2 ) , Dragunov ( 3 ) PSN : WittyKitty1
    • 003 4  The Good : LOTS of characters to play , with plenty of depth and technical mastery required to truly master the game .
    • 006 4  This is a great fighting game . First of all , online mode was patched ! ! I was waiting for online update . First time tekken 6 came out , online was laggy ( still fun , though ) but after update , it works great . Almost arcade level . I am very happy with it . Graphic is not the best but looks clean and vivid . I like the sound . Music in the game is beautiful , sometimes combative . Gameplay is the best . Doing combo on each character is funny and serious . go Online and play with others ! !
    • 008 4  Tekken 2 was the First game I ever owned and I liked the character stories and I've been waiting for this game for the longest time now , and I was expecting a lot , I just wanted the story's but they don't really focus on the story's the fights for the story's are short in # but the graphics are Great . you Have to play campaign mode to unlock characters if you want to see their story Cons : Load time ( yes this bothers me , because its long enough that there is an awkward silence if other ppl are around watching ) The subtitles are crazy small and hard to read , what are the Tekken ppl thinking ? after playing 6 other Tekken games my eyes aren't what they used to be . Pros : looks good story mode battles are quick this game will keep you entertained for hours they do a quick recap of the story starting from Tekken ( but the subtitles are small and hard to read )
    • 011 4  I pre order this game as soon as the option was available here in Amazon , I did this because you would expect a great sequel to the previous Tekken games . Even if you weren't into fighting games , anyone who tried them , always ended with a good comment about them . Sadly , Tekken 6 , broke that cycle for me . The games takes a really long time to load , which is kind of annoying since it does it for every single fight . If you choose to take on the campaign mode , you will find a sad action game imitation . You get to fight along a course with guns and lots of enemies , it doesn't sound so bad until you realize the controls are all messed up , the graphics are lame and the story is even worse . After trying that for a few times , I decided to go ARCADE only , after a few fights , I came to stand in front of a dinosaur boss . To make things more interesting , they made the boss unpredictable , unstoppable and with only one weak point . . . your luck . I can keep on going , but my point is to warn people before they buy this game . You might end up liking it ( if you do , contact me and ill give you mine ) , but rent it before you buy it . GL .
    • 014 4  Tekken has always been a great franchise , with its own fighting system that can't be topped . The presentation is slick , the characters are unique , both in personality as well as fighting , and the gameplay never gets old . While tekken doesn't have the same depth as virtua fighter , its more fun , and more accessible . The controls work just right so if you're a novice you may have some fun , but if you put your time in , you're very rewarded . The only complaint I have it that there are few minor glitches , including a glitchy online system . Though this should be corrected through updates , and there's nothing amazingly innovative that makes the franchise feel fresh . But these things don't hugley detract . Overally , Tekken 6 is an excellent fight game , with a ton of replayability . Recomended !
    • 017 4  Tekken 6 is FUN ! I am a fighting game enthusiast who enjoys what Tekken 6 has to offer ! ONLINE : As of Turkeyday , Namco released a patch correcting online play and the game runs smoothly and almost without lag with players that have good connection ( 4 to 5 bars run smoothly ; also , you can choose players that have good online connections rather than bad before entering a match ) . I have no issues with playing online . Furthermore , you can download ghosts of realtime player from online to play against ! Scenario Mode : Its fun and wacky to play . You go about beating the various levels of this mode to unlock more characters to choose from and you get one free pass to choose a character to unlock automatically ( default characters are Lars and Alisa ) If you are feeling lighthearted and want to beat up funky sumo wrestlers , kangaroos , and miniature sized bears , PLAY THIS MODE ! This mode also has hardcore stages . . . fighting demons on a train , a cheap chainsaw robot girl , and an egyptian monster ! Another reason to play scenario mode is customizations . Throughout the game you will have treasure chest drops containing various items to customize your characters , these items give your characters abilities like fire or ice elementals , higher attack , more money making , more item drops , and etc ( Also , in this mode I love reading characters quips in scenario mode Lee and Alisa have a silly intro dialogue in ganryu's stage ) . * I highly suggest you unlock DEVIL JIN as your first character of choice ; some people tend to give up trying to unlock him on the hardest stage , Nightmare Train ( you got 50 + demons to kill on that stage and a boss with 7 - 8 demons fighting by his side ; I knocked him off the train after a few minutes for an instant KO . Took me 3 hours though > > ) . Storymode : I love tekken's story mode from tekken 5 . It had character interactions that gave more insight about each fighter , but they cut it out : ( The amount of levels leading to the final round have been cut down to 3 fights rather than 7 . I disagree with this decision because it makes the game feel so much shorter , and really more of a gimmick now than ever . Closing comments : I would highly recommend buying this game . I grew up as a kid playing this fighting game from Tekken 3 for the playstation . I imagine kids from middle school and up enjoying scenario mode a lot ( and spamming the same moves over and over ) . For adults like me , I like the game options for casual play like survival mode and scenario mode when I am not feeling up for beating people online , and its great now tekken 6 offers better online play against real people ! I bought this game from Amazon ; I still play this game and enjoy it very much so . This was worth $60.00 . I don't care if the graphics are not on the lines of Uncharted 2 or Virtua Fighter 5 . They are more than acceptable to me , but what I do care about is that the action is well paced and well executed . I haven't enjoyed beating up people in a fighting game for a long time : )
    • 019 4  I wanted to wait at least a week after buying this game to post a review , and I'm glad I did . I've seen reviews ranged from glowing to garbage , and after a week with it I can see why the reactions are so varied . THE GOOD : Graphics are beautiful . I have both SC4 and Tekken6 , and I personally think the movement and details on T6 outshine SC4 . That's not a popular opinion , but I think it's quite obvious to me . The fighting mechanics and buttons are classic Tekken , and the ability to customize buttons is much appreciated . Characters are extremely individual , with different styles , moves , responses , looks , all unique to each character . Even with that , fights are extremely fair , with almost everyone able to grab a character and have fun ( except against skilled players of Tekken , which I am not ) . The massive amount of costume customization options is incredible . THE BAD : The campaign mode is horrible . Do we really need cinematic cutscenes every five seconds ? Hello , Metal Gear Solid 2 , anyone ? The concept of the campaign mode is great , the fighting and execution remain annoying . I never tried online play , so I can't really say anything about lag when playing online . Load times are appalling . Whoever decided it would be a good idea to force you to rechoose your character and reload your fighter , your opponent , and your scene WHEN CONTINUING A FIGHT EACH AND EVERY TIME , EVEN IF YOU'RE KEEPING EVERYTHING THE SAME ( ! ) should be demoted . Or fired . After the thirtieth time I'm fighting Azazel , I already know to get ready for the next battle ! and that I'll be fighting the final boss Azazel ; I really don't need you to make me hear and see this every single time I continue . Just let me continue and jump right back into the fight rather than make me wait longer than the fight will actually take while things are reloading . Thanks . And that dizzying array of costume customization pieces ? They cost a freaking fortune , each and every one . Good luck earning enough fight money to buy even ten of them . THE UGLY : Azazel has finally displaced MK2 ' s Kintaro as the cheapest , most aggravating boss I've ever had the misfortune to play against . I've played video games for over thirty years , and I'm pretty darn good at beating them , including the hard ones like the original Ninja Gaiden . But I flat out cannot beat Azazel . His reach is insane , his moves are beyond cheap , he does roughly 75% of his damage while you're on the ground or in the air , and he has multiple ranged attacks that no playable character can try to match . Oh , and the cute teleport move is a joy , especially when he / she / it flies around you and hits you in the back when you're already moving to intercept it . Fighting defensively worked best , but he always gets me with a cheap juggle or his teleport . So , my final verdict for Tekken 6 is that this is an absolutely beautiful game with amazing graphics and a terrific fight system right up until the last two bosses . The costume pieces would look lovely , but only if you could actually afford to equip them . I'm not going to spend the next two years fighting to earn enough money to equip my characters the way I'd really like them to be . If you're an experienced Tekken player who loves a challenge , then this game will probably be a 4 - or 5 - star title for you . For everyone else , it's 2 stars . I haven't decided if I'm going to keep mine to play with my friends or if I'm going to sell it or trade it in . It's sort of a toss-up right now . What I'm sure of is that this game wasn't worth full price . Save your money and buy a used copy in a few weeks , because there are going to be LOTS of them for sale .
    • 024 4  With that many delays for the release of the first game from the Tekken enterprise for the PS3 consol , the gaming experience is slightly disappointing . To sum up , if the exciting graphic image is what you you are looking for , Tekken 6 is your game . Otherwise , Tekken 5 is still a classic and not yet being surpassed by its brand new successor . Images : Bandai Namco upgraded the graphic image a great deal to match faster processing speed of PS3 , which allows the fighting stages to look a lot more real than its predecessor . There are helicopters hovering around , train passing by through mono-rail nearby , and when you play in one of the stages where there's snow cumulating on the ground , you leave a trail . Also , in some scenes , the fighting stage could collapse when too much force is put upon the ground , and both players will fall into a lower stage where they continue their battle - quite interesting actually . When it comes to the look of the characters , compared to Tekken 5 , the characters in Tekken 6 are less animation-like although that part of the graphic details could have gone farther to match the quality of another excellent fighting game by Bandai Namco , Soulcalibur 4 . Online gaming : Those who downloaded Tekken 5 on their PS3 consol know that there's a delay when play the game online . Unfortunately , this problem still exists in Tekken 6 . To me this is the biggest disappointment . Characters : There are 8 additional new characters , including an unplayable final boss Azazel . The rest reminds the same as Tekken 5 . Having seen through the development of characters from the very first Tekken , Tekken 6 has the least improvement from its predecessor . The movements of the returning characters are nearly the same as these in Tekken 5 , only with minor twists that take a little time to get used to . The speed is also about the same , so it shouldn't be a difficult for a Tekken 5 veteran to adapt to the new game . Tekken 6 however gives much more freedom in customizing your own characters ' looks . Sound and Music : To my personal taste , the makers of Tekken 6 did not pay as much attention to the sound and the music aspect of the game as they did for Tekken 5 or Soulcalibur 4 , which has amazing music and sound effects . The shouts and screams of the characters and the sound of punch in the new game are shortened and strangely metallic . The music sometimes can be so comical that not only it does not enhance the excitement of the gaming experience , it's distracting . Tekken 6 does offer the options of stereo ( output in 2 channel mode ) or surround-sound . Types of Battles : Tekken 6 for PS3 offers Scenario Campaign ( fighting through a group of enemies surrounding your character ) . In Online mode , there are Ranked Match , Player Match ( does not affect your ranking ) , confirm invitations ( join a session ) , and data uploading and downloading ( ghost uploading and downloading ) . In Offline mode , there are Arcade Battle , Ghost Battle , VS Battle , Team Battle , Time Attack , Survival and Practice .
    • 026 4  This is one of the most disappointing fighting games I've played this decade . I can't believe I'm having to say this about one of my most beloved franchises of all time . Something else that's even harder for me to believe is that I used up the last two remaining vacation days I had for work to stay home and play this complete piece of failing garbage . They've failed in no less than three major areas of the game , and here they are . . First and foremost , the graphics . Wow , people weren't kidding on the forums when they said this game looks dated , DOES IT EVER . Everything from the fighters and the cutscenes look absolutely embarrassing . It looks like an original Xbox game , or even a PS2 game . The characters are designed decent , but they have no texture . When you look at a character , it's a like one single flat shade , with no skin texture or small variations in color . The best analogy I can give is in Photoshop , if you were simply to use the Paint Bucket tool to fill in a void with one blanket color - no feathering , no gradients , shadows , layering , variations in opacity , etc . Just a single flat color . THAT'S HOW THIS WHOLE GAME LOOKS . The failure is most evident in some of the non-CGI cutscenes ( like in campaign mode [ which is another failure all its own ] ) . I wouldn't even be making a huge deal about it if the rest of the game was good , but for reasons I'm about to explain , with everything else failing , it sure seals the deal for this game to be UGLY as HELL too . Now for everyone's biggest complaint : the Campaign Mode . What were they thinking . This is an EPIC FAIL personified . Now it's been a few years , but I honestly believe I had more fun in the older Tekken Force mode than this upgraded version of Tekken Force . It's 2009 now , and there's no excuse for these problems in Campaign Mode : * * * A completely BROKEN camera system * * * A completely broken targeting system ( pressing R1 / RB changes targets , but it's still broken . This is painstakingly evident when you come from playing a flawless 3D game like Batman Arkham Asylum [ think about how smooth and easy it was to transition from enemy to enemy . . . ] , to THIS ) * * * A less serious gripe , but nonetheless a gripe , is how foolish it looks for the cutscenes to feature characters communicating with each other in DIFFERENT LANGUAGES . Character A says something in English , and character B responds in Japanese . I'm not saying it's impossible for human beings to communicate in this manner in real life , but WHY WOULD YOU , and why design the game this way . . * * * Here's the number one biggest problem with this Campaign Mode : Had this just been an optional side feature , then I could simply ignore this part of the game and still enjoy it . Problem is , they've got this featured as your main , sole source of getting gold to buy custom items for your characters . So unless you plan to play this game with no customization at all , you're pretty much forced to play through this mode and grind , and farm gold . I bought Tekken because I like one on one fighting games . Someone tell me , why did the developers insist on including and forcing you to play a COMPLETELY different GENRE of game to unlock its content ? ? ? ? I don't want to play BROKEN version of Final Fight or Streets of Rage , I wanted to play Tekken . That's like if a sports game forced you to play a mini FPS game just to unlock features , or an RTS game making you play an optional golf game on the side to unlock more troops or something . What an absolutely horrible decision in game design . . . Here are some other miscellaneous problems that I want to point out : * * * In most games these days , if a game features pre-rendered cut scenes , and if it's a game that also happens to let your character wear different outfits , it shows you WEARING those different outfits in the cutscenes themselves ( e.g . , Soul Calibur 4 , Metal Gear 4 , GTA IV ) . Well , none of that here . Not only does it show you ( and Alisa ) in the default punch or kick outfit , it doesn't even show YOUR CHOSEN CHARACTER period . It's pre-rendered with the default character , Lars . How lazy is that ? * * * Character customization is a complete joke in this game , and this goes back to the graphics . Virtua Fighter 5 hands down had the best , most realistic looking clothes you could buy for your character ( it was a gorgeous game in general ) , while Soul Calibur 4 had the deepest customization available . So one was fun due to how deeply you could tweak your fighter ( SC4 ) , while the other was fun because no matter how petty of an upgrade you bought , you looked forward to donning you character with that new piece of apparel you just bought because of HOW REAL it looked . The same can be said for SC4 for that matter , no matter how ridiculous an item was you bought ( a squid sword , a kitty costume , a bread basket as a weapon , etc ) , it looked like it BELONGED in the world . So as your character holds it fighting the guy across from you , you still look like an actual fighter who was insane enough to bring a shish kabob to a gunfight . Compare this to Tekken , in which the graphics suck so bad that everything you buy just . . . . . doesn't matter . They all look like ridiculous cartoon items due to the lack of any discernible surface textures . Like some single flat shaded polygon . So if you're wearing pink joker pants , it doesn't look like pants that happen to be pink , it just looks like a SHAPE affixed to your body . I don't even know the right terms to describe it , it just looks BAD . * * * Alisa's personality in Campaign Mode is so cliché . They went for this whole angle where you have this naïve , but sexy robot girl , who doesn't quite know what's going on , and speaks in Japanese , and her general innocence is supposed to be alluring ( that's not the problem ) . What really made her a complete joke is that in the cutscenes , she speaks in Japanese , but in the text portions where you read her journal , it's in English ( contrary to my previous point about speaking in two different languages , THIS isn't even the problem here ) . The actual problem is , based on whether you're hearing her talk in Japanese , or reading her English texts , she's portrayed with two DIFFERENT personalities ( and that's the problem ) . On one hand , you've got the clichéd high pitched , cutesy Japanese school girl gimmick ( which is fine ) , but on the other hand , you've got her making deadpan introspective comments in English about her predicament and those around her , in typical robotic fashion . For example , she'll say something in Japanese to the effect of , Oh noes ! ZOMG ! ! ! ! ! LOL ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ^ _ ^ That's cute , and that's fine . But then , in her text journal , in English , she'll deliver a line something along the lines of , Today I encountered a man who claimed to be the greatest fighter in the world . Unfortunately he was not able to demonstrate this as I rendered him unconscious a little too quickly upon physically engaging him in combat . Perhaps once he awakens from his coma and departs the hospital , I will have the pleasure of being able to witness his skill once gain . Or something like that , you get the point . * * * Here's a pet peeve of mine in all games , and I complain about this in all my game reviews that feature this problem : When you pause to go to some game menu , the game then doesn't let you hit Circle or B to cancel out of that menu , instead , it makes you manually press up or down and select the Return to Game option and press Start . That's stupid . A casual gamer may have no clue what I'm talking about , and couldn't care less , but this infuriates me . It's sloppy design , and just lazy . You should be able to do your thing in the pause menu , then quickly press the Circle or B button ( whatever console you own ) and cancel out of the menu lightning fast and return to the game , not have to manually scroll to the option and press start . * * * Load times . PATHETIC . Every . . . . . single . . . . . screen transition . . . . has a load time . Between fights , between cutscenes , even between the load times themselves exist load times , and that's not even logically or physically possible . We're talking no less than 15 seconds , and on the high end , probably more like 23 - 30 seconds . * * * Another example that further makes me believe they just thew this game together : I could've sworn that in previous games , in Training Mode , when looking at you're looking at the move list , they had the moves separated into different categories based on the type of move it was . Here they just globbed it all together in one undifferentiable mess . It's not that I can't make sense of it or read it , I just hate that they cut yet ANOTHER corner in this piece of crap game . * * * The online mode . . . I haven't seen an online mode this broken since . . . NBA 2K10 and NBA 2K9 . Netcode = fail . * * * Why are Tekken character's legs so wide ? Look at Jin for example . Not a complaint whatsoever , just a little thing I happened to notice . * * * The only two positives things about the game is that in its standard mode , it's still the same old Tekken fighting engine ( which ironically , I JUST got tired of , but that's besides the point ) , so if you've been a fan of Tekken , you'll have little to complain about here . The other , is that being how they were lazy with practically everything else , I'm absolutely shocked that they have character sensitive dialogue in Campaign Mode ( the dialogue between you , Alisa , and the Bosses on each level are completely different based on the character you have chosen ) . So there's my angry review of this game . Makes me wonder , WTF were they doing the last two years ? Why is the online broken ? Why did they spend so much time on a game mode that no one likes , and even THAT'S broken ? Why does a game that came out three years ago look three times as better ( Virtua Fighter 5 ) ? Why did I waste my vacation days playing this ?
    • 028 4  I've played the Tekken series since it first came out , and it was the game that motivated me to buy the first Playstation and each one thereafter . I'd say this game has outstanding characters with a few exceptions . The kangaroo , bear and the block of wood character have to go . Nothing takes me out of this game like having to fight a kangaroo in a shower cap or a bear wearing a clown nose . I understand that Tekken does embrace a little bit of zaniness to set it apart from something like Virtua Fighter , but it's just gotten ridiculous . That being said , I LOVE all the changes that were made to the other returning characters moves and I'm incredibly impressed with the new characters that Namco created for this game . I can't believe that after all this time they're able to come up with a batch of new characters that are as interesting , unique and effective as the ones seen here . I thought the graphics were GREAT . I can't agree with anyone who feels the graphics looked dated . I was VERY pleased with how the characters looked and moved . And the variety and depth of the moves are fantastic . The questionable game structure issues that I mentioned in my title are as follows : Including the Nancy robot was a terrible decision . Its simply a cheap character and whether you win or lose , its a terrible experience fighting it . Normally when fighting a character your own size , you are able to maneuver nimbly and have an exciting match , but because Nancy is so huge , you find yourself awkwardly and slowly sidestepping around trying to avoid its missiles , lasers , fists and leaps . Just terrible . As bad as Nancy is , the final giant chicken-dragon Azazel is simply the cheapest and worst character that I've played in any of the many fighting games that I've played over the years . Even on the easy setting its incredibly difficult to land a strike , let alone actually win the fight . I've beaten Azazel a half-dozen times or so and hated the experience every time , and even after you WIN that unbelievably frustrating match , there is no reward , just the credits . Terrible ! ( I should say though , that the graphics for these two idiotic characters and their stages are again GREAT . ) I ended up increasing the rounds to best of 5 so that I could spend more time playing the normal-sized characters , then I just stand there and allow Nancy to kill me since you only play one round against the robot , then I play the excellent showdown with Jin in his cool tower office , then I quit and don't play Azazel at all . Its a pain to do it that way and nearly ruins the arcade experience , but there's no way I'm wasting any more time on Nancy or Azazel again . The campaign mode is simply tedious . Character movement is awkward and I actually felt like I was playing some retro game from 20 years ago . Nice to unlock clothes etc , but still just a pain to play . I did like the Lars cutscenes though . It was sort of cool to unlock the story , just would rather they get rid of the actual gameplay . Customization is very hit-and-miss . Some characters have very interesting ( but VERY pricey ) clothes , but mostly there are things like one coat with 50 different color combinations . And you have to actually BUY each one to get it . They should just have , say , a dozen coats that are actually significantly different , then let you change the colors as you wish . And I definitely do not want to change the characters hairstyle by buying a base hairstyle and then having to pay for each of 50 different pieces of hair . Silly nonsense . I haven't played online so I can't comment on that , and I don't normally play the Survival , Team , etc . I just wanted a solid arcade experience and the Nancy robot and Azazel nearly ruined that completely . If they were removed I'd be inclined to give the game a 95 out of 100 , with them in it I want to say a 15 out of 100 but thats probably too harsh . Anyway , REALLY bad decisions from Namco on those two . So , to end on a positive note , I'm still very glad I have this game to play . It has beautiful graphics , a large roster of mostly excellent characters and fantastic moves and combat . I hope Namco will make some changes to Tekken 7 ( lucky 7 ! ) Namely , remove the huge characters , remove the campaign mode and include an option to arcade mode that will allow story-related cutscenes ( with the ability to turn this feature on and off ) , bring back character ending movies to arcade mode , make the easy difficulty actually be easy , and simplify the customization process and include as many truly different clothes etc as possible . So those are my thoughts . Tekken 6 is 75% great , 25% utter horrific nonsense ! hah .
    • 030 4  * TEKKEN 6 , a good / great game overall . * I like this game , it's just a few things that makes me angry . I'll start with the bad so you can know what you'll be dealing with . ( 1 : Load Times ) ( 2 : Difficulty ) ( 3 : Online ) ( 4 : Scenario Campaign ) ( 5 : Customization ) ( 6 : The Final Verdict ) * * * BAD * * * ( 1 ) : * * Load Times * * * Overall : Not bad * While they aren't disastrously long , they do have the how long have I been waiting ? effect . . . atleast for me .
    • 033 4  I have played Tekken since the first series and it has definitely evolved over the years to be a great fighting game . The latest installment in the series , Tekken 6 is no exception . Excellent graphics , a multitude of characters and a solid fighting engine make for some fun times ahead . However , it is not without flaws . I am not crazy for the fact that you are forced to play the Scenario Campaign mode if you want to release the characters end movies and to gain character customizations that you would otherwise pay a high price for . I guess Namco Bandai realized most people didn't play those extra game modes in the past which is why you are forced to do so now . And as others have mentioned , Tekken 6 does feature one of the cheapest bosses ever in a fighting game - Azazel . He's not too bad once you figure out his moves , but I can easily see how a new player would be greatly frustrated ! If you are a true fan of the Tekken series then I would recommend picking up this game to add to your collection .
    • 046 4  Tekken has never been the best fighter out there . Admit it , Tekken is a ' Dial-A-Combo ' amatuer friendly fighter than your 6 year old nephew can beat you at . So why do I give it 4 stars ? I said it's not the ' best ' fighter . . . never said it wasn't the most fun . I've been an abid fan of the Tekken series since I first picked up Tekken 3 when it originally came out for the PS1 . Tekken's variety of outrageous characters with intense personalities has always set it apart from the competition . And , even though there are better fighters for you ' hardcore ' saps out there don't bash Tekken just because you can't ' Hadoken ' your way to victory . Yes , like I said , you may have been playing Tekken for a decade like I have but when your nephew picks Eddy Gordo and button smashes his way to victory you just have to laugh and live with it because Tekken is undeniably fun . Tekken 6 lives up the high standards I hold for the franchise with a challenging Arcade mode and Survival mode , and an absolutely ADDICTING Ghost mode . The low point of this one is , unfortunately , the Story Campaign mode where , again unfortunately , your fighter is broken due to a restriction on moves and a lack of overall challenge with a mediocre ' Arena ' ( which is the closest you come to the take a fighter and see his story you'll be familar with ) . Regardless of it's flaws , it's still fun to earn money with your favorite fighter in Story Campaign and customize them however you like . Overall I give Tekken 6 a 4 / 5 . . . if you're a fan of the series STOP READING REVIEWS AND GO GET IT . If you're new to the series I still reccomend giving Tekken a try afterall , The King of Iron Fist Tournament . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    • 049 4  After waiting patiently for what seemed like an eternity for a new Tekken release , it finally came out . Some of my expectations were met , some weren't . Some of this might be due to anticipation - after taking so long I expected a perfect and all time best Tekken to be released . Most of the player's moves remained the same , with an addition of a few more moves . Great ! No need to relearn all the ten hit combo's and such . In addition , there are some new character outfits , and character's outfits can be customised with enhancing items obtained through unlocking or purchasing with money accumulated through playing . As discussed in other reviews , in arcade mode , all players are unlocked right from the beginning . There's also a few more players that were good additions to the game . The scenario mode is somewhat like Tekken Force mode . I didn't dislike this mode as much as others evidently . It reminded me a lot of the Soul Caliber mode where you travel from fight to fight ( selecting the locations on a map ) , and can unlock various costumes , trophies , and money at each one . You fight onslaughts of enemies on your way to a final boss each level . A few missions in , you unlock arena mode - the only place to view characters ending movies . However , not all characters are unlocked at this point . You must unlock them continuing to fight in scenario mode . Note however , that the ending movies aren't as good as previous Tekken ending movies - they are very short . I wish they would have spent the time and effort putting longer ending movies in this , utilizing the PS3 ' s abilities . The graffics and gameplay are great - though not what I would say being stunning over Tekken 5 ' s graffics . However there are breakable walls , ground , etc . Great addition ! I'm sure I have more to find , but the ones I have found add a great new flavor to the game . Nothing like slamming your opponent down on the ground to shatter the floor and both players fall down a level and resume fighting ! In a couple areas I've found walls you can throw an opponent through and fight in a different room . Unfortunately , I must agree with almost everyone else - there are a couple irritating problems . First and foremost is the online fighting . Perhaps the degree of lag varies depending on one's internet service . I have blistering fast internet , and still am having a hard time online . There is just enough lag time to make it difficult to pull off some moves - the timing on ten hit combo's is off . A lot of time I basically feel like I'm lucking out if I'm able to pull one off . If anything , this is most frustrating to me online when fighting the proverbial button masher . It almost gives them an advantage when you can't halt them in their tracks with a well placed combo move . This may be a re-learning issue though . Through continuing gameplay , I'm starting to get the new timing down on some combo's . The second irritating thing is load time . Load , load , load - waiting for loading all the time whether online or offline . I'd be lying if I didn't say it wasn't noticeable . Perhaps a third irritation to me is personal preference . Some of the new characters are a pain . I never liked characters with long range attacks / cheater moves i.e . Devil . Well , they are back with the laser shooting moves , and have even added characters with chainsaws that shoot out and such . This is super frustrating when friends / online people choose these characters and commence to plinking you from all the way across the screen . . . Bottom line , I'm glad I purchased it . While it didn't end up meeting all my expectations , it's definitely a really good game . If it weren't for the online mode issues and load time , I would have rated it as the best in the Tekken series .
    • 051 4  Despite the occasionally overblown / melodramatic reviews given by ' hardcore ' gamers , this game is not bad at all . The fighting mechanics have been greatly improved , and the experience is somewhat smoother , and with the new ' bound ' system one can perform juggles ( launch combos ) that are both longer and look a little more plausible than those in previous Tekken games . Again , despite despite others ' complaints , the graphics are an improvement and very nice overall , however they're not particularly jaw-dropping . Scenario campaign is quite crap but entertaining nonetheless . Graphically it is weak , and the story is extremely predictable and generally trite . But the fact that you can do all of your chosen character's moves ( including EWGF for example ) during the campaign is great , and you can even attempt juggles if you can be bothered dealing with the confusing camera angles / target swapping . Also , as usual , the games ending movies are weak , this time round some are so weak that they're unintentionally hilarious ( for example Raven / Dragunov ) , while others intend to be funny and may get a chuckle when first viewed . Online mode has potential , and Namco plan to release a patch for it , so we'll see . Personally I'm not holding my breath . But the ( perhaps only ) important aspect of the game , the actual fighting , is great and is definitely an improvement for the series , and therefore this in my opinion is a good game and is worth buying / very enjoyable .
    • 055 4  If you buy this game for strictly one on one play with your friends on your couch , you'll have a blast . If you buy this game looking to play serious competition online , you'll commit suicide . Tekken 6 has to include some of the worst online code I've seen in a fighting game . Even playing common opponents in the same area with full green bars yields lag in many instances . Why Namco didn't learn their lesson with Tekken DRO is beyond me . They had a TON of community feedback about how close to unplayable DRO was . Gameplay is classic Tekken . No big changes besides some new move lists for almost all characters and the inclusion of the Rage system which seems like a gimmick to me , doesn't balance gameplay enough . The graphics are OK . Nothing to shout home about , which is unlike the graphic GODS that Namco used to be . I remember how pessimistic gamers were when Namco announced Tekken 3 for PS1 and how it would be near impossible to duplicate the arcade game on limited hardware . Namco succeeded and succeeded with flying colors . This feels like a half ass port of the arcade version , and it seems the Tekken team , tasked with multiplatform dual development for the first time , couldn't handle it and it shows in both the 360 and PS3 version . Namco would have been better off chosing one platform and maximizing the platform's potential and I think Tekken 6 would have been leagues better . For online gamers . . . . . stay away unless Namco fixes the god awful online mode .
    • 063 4  If you're a fan of the Tekken Series , you will find a lot to like in Tekken 6 . There's a lot more as well , like online play , new characters , and lots of customization . The story mode is a lot better than what you saw in Tekken 3 back in the day , but still a bit off ( why are the different characters speaking their different languages and everyone seems to understand each other ? ) . And , I'll just say it . . . it takes a long time to load the levels , and the fight scenes . Sure , the scenery is rich , but the thing that makes a fighting game so entertaining is being fast-paced . With the loading times as long , it makes online play a little tedious . Fun game for sure , but have patience .
    • 065 4  I've played the Tekken series since it came out , but if you're Super-familiar to one of the characters , it's hard . . . For example , I've been Nina almost every time I played . . . then they changed her right kick . That's one of the hardest things to get used to , so I let my 9 yr old son describe it : BEST GAME EVER ! ! ! ! ! ! I've read the reviews for this game and every time : CHEAP GRAPHICS CHEAP GRAPHICS ! ! ! Well , they're WRONG ! ! Beautiful graphics . Just like my mom's played nina i've played yoshimistu since i was 3 . Those who have played it probably think all he does is commit suicide . . . . . WRONG AGAIN ! You just have to be careful what keys you press . ( that's right , no button mashing ) And LOTS of characters are like that , just so you know and not get frustrated . And those who are thinking HE DOESN'T STOP HITTING ME ! - - it's time to go to practice mode . ( you can acess practice through OFFLINE MODE ) if you go against somebody online , you gotta have a LOT of experience . That's all . Overall , Very good !
    • 067 4  Well , I have to say that Namco has done it again , made another great fighting game in the great fighting series known as Tekken . This game stays true to the series and plays very similar to its predecessors ; but adds a ton of interesting and fun new characters , new moves for old characters and the Bound system , which allows you to continue juggles for longer than you would be able to on previous Tekken games . Tekken has been a favorite series of mine back since Tekken 2 ( with the exception of Tekken 4 ) and this game does not disappoint . In the 5 - 6 months that I've owned the game , I have played it non-stop ; in fact , I've hardly played any game besides Tekken 6 over the past 5 - 6 months . There is so much to learn about this game to be truly good at it that it never gets old . Like I mentioned earlier , there are a ton of fun characters to learn so that is another reason that it doesn't get old . The only weakness I would say this game has , which is true of most Namco / Bandai games , is the online play . Unfortunately , even on the highest rated connections ( 4 and 5 bar ) you can still feel some input lag if you play regularly offline . Often times I drop juggles that I never miss offline . Also , another weakness ( and this isn't really completely the game's fault ) is that because it runs at a true 60 fps , there can be some lag when playing the game on plasma and LCD tv's due to the way they handle refreshing the screen . Some tv's are worse than others and unfortunately my plasma is really bad , which is why I play over at my friend's house a lot . Other than those 2 factors , the game is great . One thing I will mention though is DO NOT buy the bundle with the wireless arcade stick - that stick is a piece of crap . Your money is much better spent just paying $28 for the game itself and then buying a good stick if you really want to play with a stick ( which is the only way I can play ) . I unfortunately got the bundle and that stick broke on me within a month or so . So I dropped $130 on a SFIV TE stick and that thing has been great . Well , I hope this helps - to end it , I'll just say , if you're a Tekken fan then you'll definitely want to get this game . And even if you're not a Tekken fan but are a fighting game fan , then this is a pretty easy game to learn the basics ( granted it's much harder to learn the in depth details ) ; but it's something that beginners can still pick up and play .
    • 070 4  I've been playing Tekken as a casual gamer since the original arcade machine came out in the early 90 ' s . I always enjoy this series and appreciate that even a casual player can jump in and pull some cool moves . The characters are unique and varied , and the designers always work hard to make this game THE fighting game of its generation in terms of visuals and style . That being said , the appeal here to the casual gamer is limited to Vs . mode in the Arcade menu . I played the campaign mode for about an hour or so , and literally fell asleep while doing so . I haven't tried it since . The arcade mode is great , until you get to the Bonus stage and Nancy pretty much chumps you regardless of your difficulty setting . Luckily , she's only a bonus stage , so whether you win or lose , you go on to fight Jin , who presents more of a challenge than you've probably had up to that point but is still very beatable . Then comes Azazel , which like other reviewers have pointed out , is just a cheap , hardcore punishment only the most dedicated gamers will enjoy fighting over and over and over and over . I played through the arcade mode with Jack ( my favorite character throughout this series ) the first time I put this game in , and literally didn't lose a match until Nancy pulverized me . No big deal , it's a bonus , so I still advanced and then took out Jin . Then Azazel shows up and I can barely land a blow before the carnage ensues ? Jack's a character I've played for , what , 15 years ? He's straightforward , has had the same special moves for most of the sequels , and yet suddenly he's just crap against this boss ? I played through Tekken 5 with Jack on the same difficulty level and beat the arcade mode in under an hour . Azazel unfortunately kills this game for me , because as a casual gamer my enjoyment playing through the Arcade mode and feeling challenged yet capable for ten matches was completely overshadowed by a ridiculuously cheap and over-the-top boss that's no fun to fight against .
    • 114 4  I played all Tekken games and got Tekken 6 . I hated how Namco didn't use PS3 potential to make load times shorter . Game is same like Tekken 5 , only new thing is juggles . I dislike it because a ) it is a copy of Dead or Alive games , its worst part that is . b ) you can be defeated by someone who fights cheap , knows lifters and juggles and has no strategy . Anyway , I really enjoy playing online and would recommend this game to any fighter fans .
    • 122 4  I was excited to pick up my copy of it at my local Gamestop on the day it came out . I had a college class that day , but I first went to Gamestop to pick up my copy . After coming home , I popped it in like it was a big deal . I've had to do updates , which took a while . The gameplay is so fun overall , what sucks about it is the loading times . For instance , when you're about to fight , it takes long for it to start . The scenario campaign mode is like the Tekken Force modes in the previous titles , but this is also the story mode of the game as well . You unlock more characters in the beat em ' up portion by simply fighting the characters at the end of each stage , with the help of an A.I . partner , just don't get Alisa near an edge . The online portion has issues with the lag . For those that don't know , it's when you press a button to attack for instance , but the game doesn't react until a second or two later , giving your opponent a chance to beat you down . Despite that , I won most of my matches online . They also did another update of the game by releasing the multiplayer portion of the Scenario Campaign mode , which you play the beat em ' up w / another player online and go through rounds of endurance by beating up a lot of baddies . Though the lag exists in that as well . Sometimes , the lag is bad enough that you lose connection to the other player and you go back to the lobby . Your connection depends on where you're playing from and the quality of your internet connection , the better signal that you and the other player you're with , the better . Namco needs to work on the lagging issue .
    • 149 4  The new online patch is great ! Before the patch came out , the online portion was so bad to the point , I though I was playing a different game . Now it's all fixed , I can finally be able to use counter attacks and blocking lower attacks . I don't know why people rate this game with such a lower score by picking on its Scenario Mode . Tekken is a fighting game , Scenario Mode is just an extra . The real fun is playing online or playing offline with your buddies . The game graphic is pretty good considered it's not using 720P , and the motion blur makes each moves cool looking . When you turn off the motion blur , the game will run in 720P HD graphic . Tekken 6 was the main reason I got my PS3 with 46 ' HDTV , and it was worth it ! I wanna buy a Hori joystick now just for this game . Since it's so much cheaper to purchase this game on amazon than any other retails , buy it now if you love fighting games ! ! !
    • 158 4  if u have played tekken 5 then this plays more like an updated version of the game . most of the old combos still seem to work and the only revolutionary thing that has been added is the ground bounce combo extender . this is the only new thing but it does add some new paint to the same old tekken formula . now if u can execute the move , each character has specific moves that have this property , the opponent will bounce off the ground and u can keep the combo going . it sounds cheap but u can only do this a limited amount of times . if u liked t5 ( i did ) then this game is for u . pros * lots of characters * relearn almost every character over again cuz of the tweaks and character balances * really fun and easy to execute great looking combos * costume character change is just awesome . some of the things people have done online is unbelievable cons * 1st player mode sucks . game was not made to be a beat em up . * the game saves ALOT . will really start annoying you later when u are used to the game
    • 172 4  Damn no joke , this is the real deal if you like / LOVE fighting games . if you are new to the whole tekken series as i was you'll still have fun . The scenario mode is pretty fun no lie , it might take a little while to get through the levels , but its fun customizing your characters clothes and elements which are bonus points for your player . the online mode is not laggy at all unless the other connection you are playing with has a slow internet connection . basicly im trying to say is if you love trophies , and love a good challenge Tekken 6 is the game for you . CONS : falling off the guard rail . youll see
    • 179 4  Like others said , the load times are pretty crummy for a next-gen fighting game on the PS3 . The campaign mode has a ton of cutscenes if you like that sort of stuff , but the game mechanics for that portion of the game is just a grinder , it does nothing special . The offline fighting campaign mode gets tough as nails towards the end , to the point of frustration . The online fighting suffers from lagging and mismatched fights where a beginner will be paired with someone with a bunch of fights under their belt already . Maybe this game would be slightly better when using a fightstick , but not by much .
    • 185 4  I've always been a Tekken fanatic since Tekken 3 . I've played my share of fighting games ( Street Fighters , Mortal Kombats , Guilty Gears , Marvel vs . Capcom ) , but Tekken is still my favorite . Simply because of the brilliant fighting mechanics , controls , and style . Although I'm now bored by the story , it has become too convoluted to make any sense , its just there to attract newcomers to the franchise , and provide some nostalgia for the tekken veterans . I was worried by the other negative customer reviews , but thankfully I was not dissappointed by the fighting . Namco has been making crap scenario modes since Tekken 3 , but I'm not here to play scenario mode , I'm here to play some Tekken , if Namco wants to create non-value added work for their programmers , then let it be , its their time and money , but I'm not wasting mine playing scenario ( sadly . . not yet ) . Thankfully the comments regarding loading times were exaggerated , if you try counting the total number of seconds , its atleast 15 to 20 , which is bearable compared to many games in the PS3 thus far . There were some notable differences / dissappointments in the updates of character moves , for example I can no longer do the dempsey or endless roll with Steve like I could in Tekken 5 , I have to perform a peekabo stance , Law also lost his original somersault kicks , its a lot more technical to pull off now . But the leaderboards , and the ability to play online makes up for minor gripes . I've heard about the online lag , it must have been fixed , because I probably have the slowest broadband connection in the State , yet it was still the best online gaming experience I've had in a long time . There is also an in-game voice chat , and thankfully the first player I encountered was pretty funny , but I wouldn't mind hearing some smack talk , maybe if the other player lets me win > _
    • 196 4  Its ok If u like Tekken or a fan of arcade fighting games , this is definitely for u I kinda regret buying it for the brand new price , fighting games dont seem that worth it to me Great with arcade stick , like how characters clothes are customizable
    • 198 4  I was very impressive with Soul Caliber 4 and own almost all other Tekken except for #2 . Well it is still awesome , but I was hoping a little more of something . If you like the Tekken fighting controls , it is still there , and it is still tight . They actually force you to play the Scenario / story mode which is pretty much Tekken Force in the past . This is the only way you can unlock characters ' ending animations . Also another way of getting free custom upgrades . Arcade mode is open to all characters and so is the online match . As always the female characters are easy to pick up since they are so quick . The big wrestlers are so slow and the power damages are about the same with the quicker characters , so there is a little unbalance there . Performance : The characters are very impressive , but the anti-aliasing jaggy edge is there . This is one reason I knocked a star off . Soul Caliber 4 was the smoothest looking models and characters I have seen and it came out a year before this and I also got that on the PS3 . ( Oddly when I turn off the motion blur option it were less jaggedness , but less cool effects ) The only thing I notice , the difference between the two is the background in Tekken 6 is more dynamic . Things break apart , more animation in the background . The snow , fog , sunlight and other environmental effects / physic are cooler , compare to the plain and smooth SC4 . I haven't notice any major glitches at all . The fighting is till fast . Online : The waiting is a tag longer compare to SC4 , but I think they load everything more so I haven't experience any freezing , lagging or glitches like I did for SC4 . So basically it is a better has an online performance when you are actually fighting . Characters I usually stick to Jin style , which Lars is a strong punching character too . I have got a hang of Bob yet , kind of power of a faster Panda and quick leg combos . Zafina is a like a hybrid of voldo and Anna W a little off balance style . Haven't touch Miguel or Leo that much yet . You can customized your characters by buying items and from the scenario mode ( Tekken force ) , but you can't build a characters ground up like in SC4 which I thought was lacking . Overall for Tekken fan this is a worthy buy and shows enough special effects in the graphic department over Tekken 5 . The Tekken force controls and mode is much better this time around and is intergraded into the gameplay if you want to unlock something . I wished Tekken bowling , or volleyball and even Gon was somehow brought back but didn't .
    • 208 4  This game is FANTASTIC in every aspect , providing hours of endless fun and adrenaline rushing excitement . The wake-up games , high / mid / low mixups , sidesteps / movements , the bound system , and just the general gameplay has been intricately woven to form a masterpiece . The Tekken franchise have simply delivered with each addition to its series and this is by no means an exception . While it is true that we do not see a vast jump in terms of graphical prowess as seen in each iteration of previous Tekken games , the gameplay has by far received an enormous revamp while still keeping the familiar aspects of its previous bretheren , Tekken 5 : DR . To the average , inexperienced and casual Tekkenier , such changes go by unnoticed , however , seasoned veterans of the series will discover the enormous steps forward Namco has taken to elevate the Tekken experience . While keeping its familiar arial juggles , movements , and the general game pace , it has put into addition a new systems that completely revolutionarize the series . The bound system for additional combo damage and increased wall carry , the rage system for clutch comebacks , 6 additional playable characters with vastly different martial arts style , and destructable environments that opens up new stages . Such additions is an exciting change to hardcore fans as it opens up whole new strategies and a plethora of options . Yet , with all the exciting additions to the series , the sad truth is that the casual market , and even professional gaming websites , fail to see its achievements and merits . Its become rather trendy to denounce Tekken 6 as a Tekken 5 game with - slightly - improved graphics . It is true that the Tekken franchise have come a long way since its first iteration , and while it has been known to have excellent graphics for its generation and push its consoles to the limits , such is not a key determinant factor in judging a fighting genre . What's ironic is that for a fighter , Tekken 6 still offers GREAT graphics . Its character models are detailed and the environments are lush and vibrant . While not on par with recent hit releases such as Uncharted 2 , Tekken 6 is in my opinion , the best in the graphical department that any fighting genre has to offer . Admittedly , it is a fact that Tekken did not see a huge upgrade Street Fighter IV received in terms of graphics , but such expectations are unwarranted . In economics we see that the growth rate of developing countries are several times higher than that of the United States . Such logic applies here as well . The Tekken franchise was already pushing the consoles hardware to its limits ( albeit , T5 : DR could have ran on the PS2 ) , and so naturally it won't see the leaps and bounds Street Fighter received . In conclusion , the game is by far the best Tekken in the franchise and is a must-buy for any fans of the series . While many casual fans of the previous iterations may feel skeptical in purchasing the game , give this a whirl and try delving deep into its mechanics . . . you'll be in for a surprising treat .
    • 211 4  I enjoyed Tekken 5 a lot more , btw . Alot of my gripes are with the aesthetics . Don't get me wrong , the graphics are the best they have been , but the designs of the stages and new characters are uninspiring . I can't stand the looks of most of the new characters ( Bob , Lars , and Leo ) . I found the designs of the side characters and thugs in the scenario campaign to be cooler looking characters that could have been added to the roster . The sound and music seemed don't seem to be of the quality as previous Tekken Games . The scenario campaign is a tedious affair and could have been vastly improved with some sort of co-op play online and offline ; a way to switch the partner character ; better cutscenes ; and a better targeting system . The Scenario Campaign was a nice way to tie all the characters together in the story , but the cutscenes dragged a lot , and could have used better production value . This mode is the best place to earn cash and customizable items . Also , within the Scenario campaign is the only way to see prologue scenes and ending movies after 4 matches in the arena per character ! ( I'm not that mad at this , only because the last boss is a joke and there are so many characters ) I have not tried multiplayer , but this is probably the place that the hardcore tekken fighters will enjoy the most . I just wish they take a risk and redesign / lose some of the characters , make a better story not involving some distant blood relative of the Mishimas ; and bring back the stages and music of Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag !
    • 232 4  Tekken 6 added an GPG game over the simple VS mode . However , the RPG design is very poor , especially compare to the existing RPG game on the market now . Also Tekken try to make the fighters more 3D , but some of the face appears too artificial , or should say , urgly .
    • 247 4  I had been tekken fan since tekken 2 release in ps1 . The series always provide the best graphic and CGI movie for the genre , It seem like they did delievery , but definite not perfect . First they downgrade the resolution graphic from 720p ( arcade ) to about 500 some p for console . Is notice bit less sharp than arcade version , don't know the whole reason could be they wanted keep 25gb disk , anyway . the game is complage package it has all the previous tekken character and more other fighting game keep all the roster plus old , usualyl cut corner like street figher iv or king of fighter xii . The game is about the same but definite they add some more heavy flash attack . The new custom make the game last long time , consider take lots of time to unlock customs . good thing they had all the full roster out of the box , which is good idea to take the game to friend house , unlike street fighter iv , saved game can't even transfer only few chracter out of the box . not to mention cost like $20 for the little custom selection . Gameplay is not match with street fighter iv but depend definite tekken 6 take some used to it and the combine move take long time to master . The sound is decent and depend on stage , i think mortal kombat vs dc has the best sound for fighting game due to 7.1 and more clear dialogue and musiuc . Tekken 6 CGI is easily the best for fighting i ever see , and definite can rival many other game cgi as well , but is short that cut into many ending for each character , some of thsoe cgi are definite breathtaking and funny . This game is well worth your money , since unlike other genre charge you more for those missing feature , tekken 6 has just about everything you need , wish they include some mini game .
    • 252 4  Let just say that the sole reason that I owned a Playstation 1 was Tekken 1 . So I been following the game throughout its birth until the visually spectacular Tekken 6 to debut onto both PS3 and XBox360 . Let me say that it does not disappoint . If you like HD graphics with amazing characters and costumes and all types of martial arts and fighting mechanics then this is a game for you . Tekken Tag had been my favorite game but Tekken 6 wears the new crown . Sporting 40 ( has it gotten to forty ? ? ) that's amazing . I personally like Alisa Bosconovitch . New to Tekken is the story mode which not seen in arcade adds so much depth into the story and is so much fun . Since I only been playing it for 2 days thus far . . . I have to say that I have not been as excited . Negatives . . . hmmm . . . all other Tekken games NEVER . . i repeat never have any delays in loading times . This new Tekken has like a 10 sec delay loading from character to character after you defeat them so it slightly was a negative but doesn't change my opinion about the game at all .
    • 261 4  What I hate about this game is the Scenario campaign . This is basically Tekken Force , or The Devil Within from the last games . This time it's not just a side game though , It's the main game you have to play if you play solo . If you liked the individual stories for each of the characters , be prepared to be disappointed . They're still in the game but you have to play through this Tekken force sort of mini game to unlock them . ( Which isn't all that fun ) . The stories themselves have been heavily dumbed down ( Opening cards are short , no vocal narration , short cut scenes that explain next to nothing about the story ) and the rival interaction scenes that Tekken 5 introduced have not been included in the story mode . In terms of gameplay Tekken 6 doesn't really introduce anything . It plays just like Tekken 5 . The characters have the same default outfits , the same win quotes / posses and the same moves for the most part . That's not bad , because Tekken 5 was a great game , but I just wish there was more there . I would have to give this game a 6.5 / 10 for the online , but a 3 / 10 for the single player game . You can get this , but I would suggest waiting for the price to go down . It just isn't worth it .
    • 263 4  This game is the worst games I have ever played so far . Some of the new characters are terrible , for example , Lars is a cross between Goku and M . Bison . . . . yeah and I'm not joking . The Senario Campaign should not exist as well and they should stick with the good old fighting , and the boss is cheap as hell . I hope for the next game that they would not carry with this nonsense and stick with the fighting .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) After waiting patiently for what seemed like an eternity for a new Tekken release , it finally came out .

    • 052 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I've always loved the Tekken series . Hopefully Namco can fix this . . .
    • 183 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I've always been a Tekken fanatic since Tekken 3 .

    • 225 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Finally a Tekken in HD . This game has everything , the best graphics to date , one of the biggest rosters since Tekken Tag Tournament , several new and different styles of characters , upgraded moves , a huge customizable section to modify your favorite character , online and offline modes . A great buy and well worth it . It'll put Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur to shame among the Next-Gen 3D fighting games . The only thing I have to complain about is a minor thing . There's no story mode . No classic story mode . I'm used to picking a character , watching a beginning story , playing though all the opponents up until I beat the boss and then watching the final ending movie for the character I picked . Not in this game . The only story mode that you can pick right off the bat is the Scenario Campaign mode , in which you play through a set story mode in the old Tekken Force manner . Tekken Force being a somewhat 3rd Person View brawler . Think Fighting Force or Streets of Rage . Now I only played this game for about 3 - 4 hours so maybe I've yet to unlock any additional modes but for what the game is , I have no regrets buying it . I know Tekken 6 will be taking up time inside my PS3 for weeks to come .

    • 233 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This game is awesome . It's one of the few I've bought in a while . I've been playing it non-stop since I've got it . I put it on my hard drive thinking the game would speed up , but there is sooooo much loading ! I hate to think how long it would take if I didn't put it on my harddrive . The Tekken force mode was kind of annoying at first , but I've come to enjoy it . The final boss is ridiculously hard , even though I put it on easy . The online play is hit or miss . Sometimes I get great connections , but then others are horrible . Unlike the first tekken game , if you play the rank mode , you pick you character first then it finds a match for you . A big welcome in my book . I always hated when people picked someone just because you picked a certain person . Overall the game is great . I just wish they got rid of those stupid juggle moves , and the cheap characters . But overall the balance is a little better . IF you like the Tekken games , you'll like this one .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I have been waiting for this game for a long time , now that it is here I couldn't wait to play it . First things first , this is one of the greatest fighting games of all time when it comes to gameplay . Now as far as the story mode it's a little different but you have to adapt to it . The graphics are great , but the music is awful , but I can look past that. All in all if your a tekken fan you will love this game .

The online or arcade mode is better , but each character has too many moves to learn in order to use them efficiently . I would recommend you not waste your time or your money unless you are a die hard tekken fan .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I love the addition of new characters in Tekken 6 .

    • 108 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I was very happy when my copy of Tekken 6 got here and more than satisfied with the game play . For the first time there is a online play , millions of customizable choices , and a online co-op senario mode . There is no lag in online mode , but the lower the connection quality , the slower the game is . Still after almost 5 years , this game has been , like I said , worth the wait .

    • 220 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This is such a great game .
    • 262 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This game is the worst games I have ever played so far .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I was excited to pick up my copy of it at my local Gamestop on the day it came out .
    • 034 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I am a huge Tekken fan , but this game is such a letdown . The fighting feels incredibly slow and sluggish . The controls remain nearly unchanged from previous games , which may be good or bad . The worst part however , is the time spent staring at load screens . The load times are almost unbearable . Prepare to be watching the game load for the majority of the time you are playing . Don't expect to be able to jump in for a quick fight , because it will take a good portion of your day just to get to the fight . The story mode is torturous . If you enjoy watching animated cutscenes where you're supposed to decipher what characters are thinking based on poorly rendered facial expressions , then this is the game for you . I was hoping to punch some things in the face . Instead I found myself watching this lame character Lars stare in bewilderment for about ten minutes . Also , as someone else mentioned , what's the point in forcing us to play through an underdeveloped RPG-esque story mode , when this is supposed to be a fighting game ? Overall , this is just a disappointing installment from a game franchise I expected more from .

Not only do they only allow one profile to access customizations offline ; not only is the game not running at full HD ; not only do they remove the ability to scroll through the moves list in practice mode while it's stationed at the bottom of the screen like in Tekken 5 ; not only have they removed the record feature ( W T F ! ? ? ! ! ? ! ? ) . . . but they have actually managed to single handedly create the worst online code for a fighting game anyone has had the displeasure of experiencing . 3 Years and they give us THIS ? The name ' Scamco ' just seems more and more valid these days . If you have no offline comp , don't buy this ; if you do . . . don't buy this . . . if it still had the record feature in training mode then maybe . Even though , is it worth the cash ? Scenario mode is terrible so don't place your hope on that .

    • 260 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) What I hate about this game is the Scenario campaign .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I was very impressive with Soul Caliber 4 and own almost all other Tekken except for #2 .
    • 054 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) If you buy this game for strictly one on one play with your friends on your couch , you'll have a blast .

    • 086 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) All in all , Tekken 6 was a great addition to the series .

    • 089 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I got this game for $ [ . . . ] bucks ! I had a $10 credit and it was like $18 on a Lightning Deal . Game has great graphics . I have the PSP version as well . Load time on PS3 is a bit slower than your average game , but it was such a steal , who cares . . . Amazon is the only place I get games .
    • 097 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) The graphics is so so and the loading time on the ps3 will make you fall a sleep . The recent soul calibur 4 that was realeased a long time ago had better graphics than this one . Even though I got it really cheap it still not worth the money . Just stick with the older ps2 versions and save your money .

    • 102 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I've been playing Tekken since the third installment for the PSOne , and have been a fan since . It took me a while to buy this game , but I finally got it today , and I think I've played enough to write my reveiw . I'll start with the graphics . They are awsome ! ! Among the best i've ever seen in a fighting game , ( Besides Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm , and Street Fighter 4 ) . With stunning cinamatics , cutscenes , motion blur effects , outstanding interactive stages with a live background , and over 40 beutiful characters to look at in combat , this game has plenty of eye candy . Now for the gameplay . Its the same as when I first played it , and actually better . One button controls each limb , and of course you mash buttons to hit a super cool and effective combo on your opponents . The enviorments are destructive too , you can fall through a floor , get knocked through a wall , or even off of a balcony , a page straight out of Dead Or Alive's book . There are a vast amount of fighters to choose from , ( over 40 ) , and a couple that you fight but are not unlockable . Im glad to see old favorates like Steve Fox , Kazuya , Nina Williams , Yoshimitsu and King return to the King Of Iron Fist Tournament , as well as a few new faces . There is plenty to do on this game . Scenario mode should keep you busy for a while , but when your done with that , theres always arcade , and when your done with that , take your skills online and ascend up the ranks as you fight millions from around the world . Overall Tekken 6 is still the same phenomenal fighter that it was over a decade ago , and I can't wait to see what they have in store for Tekken 7 .
    • 104 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Man , any true fighting game fans know Tekken Tag Tournament is the best fighting game out there . About 6months ago , I bought a ps2 just to play it . When I initially played Tekken 6 I thought it was cool but not what I expected . After really playing against friends online and getting into it , I couldn't really play Tekken Tag anymore . The main thing about this game for me is how fast the action is . At 60fps the match is gonna be over pretty fast if you don't know how to defend ! The graphics in this game are sick and the fast-paced action is second to none . Some people complain about the juggles but you really have to study the game to learn how to defend and what moves are safe , have frame advantage etc . Being a high level player is definitely a challenge . My mains are Law and Bruce . This game has a ton of replay value and sometimes I spend hours just in the practice mode itself . Tekken games have always had the most replay value to me and no fighting games out there stand up to them in my opinion . The scenario mode in this game is worthless and the customization should have been better and not so friggin pricey . Also , BRING TAG MODE BACK PLEASE ! All true Tekken fans are waiting on this . That is why the game does not get 5 stars from me . Tag mode would have made this game CLASSIC ! Power to the players !

    • 197 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I was very impressive with Soul Caliber 4 and own almost all other Tekken except for #2 .
    • 238 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) To date I have played every Tekken game and in my opinion the biggest leap for the series both in terms of presentation and gameplay was from ps1 to ps2 .

    • 248 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This game is a great and enjoyable fighting game just like the other Tekken games .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I've played the Tekken series since it first came out , and it was the game that motivated me to buy the first Playstation and each one thereafter . Tekken 6 is 75% great , 25% utter horrific nonsense ! hah .
    • 023 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) With that many delays for the release of the first game from the Tekken enterprise for the PS3 consol , the gaming experience is slightly disappointing .

Tekken 6 is 75% great , 25% utter horrific nonsense ! hah .
    • 031 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I have played Tekken since the first series and it has definitely evolved over the years to be a great fighting game .

    • 068 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I've been playing Tekken as a casual gamer since the original arcade machine came out in the early 90 ' s .

    • 236 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I have been waiting for this game for a long time , now that it is here I couldn't wait to play it . First things first , this is one of the greatest fighting games of all time when it comes to gameplay . Now as far as the story mode it's a little different but you have to adapt to it . The graphics are great , but the music is awful , but I can look past that. All in all if your a tekken fan you will love this game .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) If you're a fan of the Tekken Series , you will find a lot to like in Tekken 6 .

    • 229 4  I bought this game yesterday and returned it today . I'll stick with Tekken 5 DR . You'll spend more time waiting to play than actually playing ! ! ! ! Graphics are definitely a step down from DR , and they ruined Lei ! ! ! I give it three stars because if you're new to Tekken , you'll enjoy this . Tekken veterans I believe would agree that this installment of the series is a huge disappointment . Loading , loading , loading , . . . . . . .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Tekken 2 was the First game I ever owned and I liked the character stories and I've been waiting for this game for the longest time now , and I was expecting a lot , I just wanted the story's but they don't really focus on the story's the fights for the story's are short in # but the graphics are Great . you Have to play campaign mode to unlock characters if you want to see their story Cons : Load time ( yes this bothers me , because its long enough that there is an awkward silence if other ppl are around watching ) The subtitles are crazy small and hard to read , what are the Tekken ppl thinking ? after playing 6 other Tekken games my eyes aren't what they used to be . Pros : looks good story mode battles are quick this game will keep you entertained for hours they do a quick recap of the story starting from Tekken ( but the subtitles are small and hard to read )

    • 112 4  Great game and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Tekken or fighting games in general .
    • 147 4  This is just the most balance fighting game you can ever play . This game is way better than the other fighting games . Is it better than Street Fighter 4 ? Yes it is and a lot of people can back that up . I was number 16 on the top ranking in Scenario Campaign , I was planning to be number 1 but my Tekken 6 broke , I might have stepped on it by accident when It was lying down on the floor , so I'm gonna buy a new copy of Tekken 6 , I've been so miserable without it , I love this game so much . . . . .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) The new online patch is great ! ! !

    • 113 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I played all Tekken games and got Tekken 6 .
    • 116 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I bought this for my hubby since he said he wanted it for his ps3 . All guys that like these kind of games come and play it all the time . • 141 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I deeply enjoyed this game . The music was a bit odd and the vs backgrounds were a little less to pick from and the load times do take a bit . Some of the cpu characters are a bit much to play against and a few button pushes hear and there can do immense amounts of damage . There is a slight balance problem meaning you will have to work a bit more to beat other heavy hitter with some other characters but it can be done . Online play . . . Forget it . To unbalanced . I do like playing the ' ghost ' charcters , those are fun , sometimes . But again you get a character or two that can whipe the floor with ya . Not so immpossiable that it isn't fun to play though . I do enjoy the new characters , especially bob and the customizations are fun to work through . Not the best game out there , but fun enough on your own or with a player next to you . The graphics are good enough for ps3 .

    • 178 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Like others said , the load times are pretty crummy for a next-gen fighting game on the PS3 .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This is one of the most disappointing fighting games I've played this decade .
    • 018 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I wanted to wait at least a week after buying this game to post a review , and I'm glad I did .

    • 056 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) One of the highlights of all the Tekken games has been a lot of the crazy characters . Maybe they aren't as over the top as other games , but they have a personality all their own . Right when you pop Tekken 6 into your system , you may seem overwhelmed with the HUGE character roaster . All of the over 40 Tekken characters are unlocked right from the get go . You will see some old favorites , as well as a few new comers . Most of their moves are similar to previous Tekken games , so if you were a champ at Tekken 5 , you should have no problem here ! Beginner Friendly : Not many fighting games will let you be good right from the get go . In Tekken 6 even if you have never played a Tekken game before , you will have no problem getting onto the groove of things . Whether you are button mashing , or pulling off the crazy 10 hit combos , you are going to find yourself having a great time . Sense of Style Like most fighting games , they try to make themselves flashy in some way . Tekken 6 may not have any super special moves in games like Street Fighter , but the combos are extremely in-depth , and have a deep sense of satisfaction after putting a chain of moves together . It isn't just the fighting that has style either . If you know anything about the Tekken story-line , you will know that it is just simply ridiculous . The endings for each character have their own sense of craziness and all Tekken fans will enjoy them . Balance No character in Tekken 6 really seems over powered or unbeatable . Each character has they're advantages and disadvantages , but there is not one single useless character , or one God character to be found . So if you see someone who looks cool and you just want to play as them , practice makes perfect kiddies . Become an unbeatable master with Jack - 6 , or destroy everyone with one of the Mishimas , it's all up to you ! More than the fight : Fighting games need to have more than just fighting now a days . Tekken 6 offers a large form of customization for all characters . You may not be able to make your own custom character , but with all the options to change the appearance of one of the Tekken 6 fighters , you will think you did ! Tekken 6 also sports a single player story mode which can sometimes be enjoyable , and this will last you a good number of hours . The Bad : Lag Online matches are great in Tekken 6 . . . except when you encounter lag . In all fighting games lag can simply kill you , the same can of course be said for Tekken 6 . When you encounter lag , you will find yourself having a hard time putting together combos , or trying to perfectly time your attacks . The Verdict : If you are in the mood for a solid fighter that has PLENTY to offer , Tekken 6 is for you . Even if you have never played a Tekken game in your life , this is something to be experienced . Lengthy single player , cool characters , customization out the wazoo , and an ever growing online community make this a must own fighting game .

    • 206 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This game is FANTASTIC in every aspect , providing hours of endless fun and adrenaline rushing excitement .

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE ARCADE VERSION OF THE GAME i live near an arcade that got one of the 4 [ FOUR ! ] tekken 6 machines a couple of years ago . there are more of them in the US now , but most people still haven't had a chance to play the game before the console release . as a long-time tekken player , i can give you my perspective on this game . the reason it doesn't feel substantially different from tekken 5 is because tekken 5 was REALLY GOOD . the movement and execution were a huge step up from previous games in terms of response time and fluidity . they kept it very similar in T6 because there's really not too much more to improve , barring new controller technology . that said , i will focus on the changes from T5 : DRO . BOUND ! [ sic ] - you can now extend your juggles even farther by slamming your opponent into the ground with certain moves . this ' binds ' the opponent for a split second , where they cannot tech roll , and you can pick them up again for a few more hits . RAGE - when your health is very low , your lifebar will glow red . you will do extra damage when this happens . what do these features mean ? basically , the extendable long juggles from tekken 5 are now even longer with BOUND ! . you can now easily take off 60% of a lifebar with one [ easy ] juggle . when RAGED , almost every character can do a death juggle . so you can see how mistakes now are even more costly than before . breakable walls / floors - only in certain stages / spots . for example , if you are on the second floor , and you BOUND ! your opponent , they will sometimes break through to the ground floor . the BOUND ! status persists after this , meaning you can still continue your juggle afterward . some floors require multiple hits before they will break . new animations - supposedly every single frame of every single move has been redone . that said , the new animations aren't always drastically different from before . some of them look fantastic , some look the same as before , some look different but not necessarily better . this is mostly aesthetic preference . weapons - most [ all ? ] characters can now use a prop as a weapon . bryan has a shotgun , etc . this is mostly a gimmick , tekken is and always will be a bare hands fighting game . if you do manage to pull off one of these moves , good for you , but don't expect it to work against anyone decent . if you are a hardcore fighting game player , you already have this game . if you like tekken , this is a solid buy . the new characters , moves , costumes , and all that other stuff will keep you entertained for some time . otherwise , it's probably wise to rent it first . tekken is best played with other players of similar skill level , locally and not online . ' real ' tekken requires timing and speed that's almost impossible to do on a peer-to-peer network connection . i would say that it is definitely the best tekken game ever . but tekken is not a casual player's game . it requires a lot of effort to learn , and the competitive scene is very much hardcore .
    • 009 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) I pre order this game as soon as the option was available here in Amazon , I did this because you would expect a great sequel to the previous Tekken games . GL .

• 044 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Tekken has never been the best fighter out there . If you're new to the series I still reccomend giving Tekken a try afterall , The King of Iron Fist Tournament . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

    • 192 4  This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE ARCADE VERSION OF THE GAME i live near an arcade that got one of the 4 [ FOUR !

  • Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Well , I have to say that Namco has done it again , made another great fighting game in the great fighting series known as Tekken .

    • 091 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) Classic Tekken gameplay , with 40 characters to choose from . The online match making works well , but this game really shines when you're playing against your friends right next to you . Make sure to perform the optional install from the Options / Other Options menu . This greatly reduces the load times .

    • 165 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Tekken 6 ( Video Game ) This game is really interesting and fun .
