078 4 This is a great game , made all the better by being the first epic non-strategy rpg on the ps2 in quite a while . There are a few issues , however . First , it's supposed to be a sci-fi rpg . However , it spends about half the game in medieval settings . It seems like a subplot , as it doesnt do anything to advance the main story . Actually , it seems like Fayt and co . have all the time in the world while they are slumming in the dark ages , without anything important happening . I mean , bandits in a local forest ? A mini game in which you control a mine cart-pulling giant turtle ? Still , in spite of the rather lengthy detour , the game is fun to play . The battle system from the second game has been modified to be both faster and more complex , and it was pretty good even on ps1 . The voice acting is decent , even if the dialogue is sometimes rather lame . A minor problem is that you quite frequently cannot hear the voices over the background music during cutscenes . All in all , this is a worthwhile game . It's just that it could have been a spectacular game if they had concentrated more on the science fiction aspects . But I suppose an interval on a low-tech planet was necessary to pick up low-tech characters . One final note - it would have been nice to have a few cameos from star ocean 2 , but at least they have Lenneth from valkyrie profile .
182 4 This game was not as good as the second one . since the dungeon designs looked same , the battle system was not that fun . still the story makes up for it and the background visuals .
090 4 Well I got this game after finishing the Xenosaga series and was in search of a new , fun RPG game . After reading promising reviews , I bought it . It was not what I expected / wanted . Basically you walk though dungeons with ever-spawning monsters , if you touch one you get thrown into a confusing , fast paced battle that is NOT turn based , and gets old fast , so beware if you are used to turn-based battle systems . The battles are all hack and slash , over and over again . After you finish one dungeon , you get some story and you go to the next . . . dull . And the characters , to me , are slightly empty and anoying .
067 4 This is a really nice RPG . It has a neat , never done story line which kept me guessing and had nice cut scenes . The game is also two disks and is very long . You wont blow through this game in a week and you get attached to the characters . Overall a nice Final Fantasy genre type of game .
102 4 This game has to be the best game I have ever played . The graphics are awesome , the story line is very interesting and all the characters are lovable . This game comes with 2 disks because it is the directors cut version of the game . The game will keep you interested for a long time and now that the price went down make sure to buy it before it gets sold out and hard to find . Thanks
098 4 The Game is just awesome , I love the graphics , the story , the format of the game , it's all just great .
162 4 I may be only 12 years old but I played a few RPGs in my time.If you like RPGs with real time battle system then I recommend this game .
106 4 For the purposes of pure gaming , I found this game to be ridiculously addictive due to the 380 deg camera-angle availability and great real-time battle system ! However , I found the girl characters in this game to be simply irritating . I dunno , maybe it's because I'm a girl that I feel this way , but practically all the lines exchanged between female characters and our hero , Fayt , seemed so cheesy I was about to fall over laughing . No scratch that , the lines in general were pretty bad , I guess the exchanges between males and females were just the worst and made me crave the authentic emotions I had previously witnessed in Final Fantasy games . The stylistic choice for music was also peculiar and made me cringe when I started playing , however , after 10 + hours of gaming , it became the norm . ( an aquired taste I guess ? haha ) Overall , however despite the story's failure at attempting something meaningful ( generic storyline whose theme has been explored too many times and more thoroughly in other Japanese works ) I still enjoyed it ! Compared to the ammount of fun I had with the gameplay , the other aspects were nearly forgotton ( not to mention , I don't even like space-related games and have always been most concerned with story quality ) ! So if it's gameplay that you're looking for , I would definitely recommend Star Ocean ( it's been my favorite in that aspect so far ! ) . However , if it's a good storyline and emotionally realistic characters , then I would steer away . Hmmm . . . although , I might still recommend it due to the amazing experience I had with the gameplay ! ! haha
071 4 This game goes right up there with my favorites . ( actually in the number 2 spot ! ) The world imagined for this game is very impressive , and I enjoyed every minute of playing this game . Highly reccomended !
074 4 This was a gift for my brother and I have yet to hear a complaint .
082 4 Star Ocean is one of the best rpg games around ! when i first heard about it ( from a page inside the ffx - 2 manual ) I thought it would be really cool . It was better than I thought . It is my second favorite game ! ( it would have been first but kingdom hearts is first and that will never change : D ) The graphics are very good in the game . The voice acting is good too . They made it so we could know the characters well , like their perasonalities . Also I LOVED the gameplay. No more making turns battle play , lol . You still run into enemies on the field map but in the battle screen you run around and fight however you want . I reccomend it to anyone ! !
104 4 The game has excellent graphics ( though sometimes they may look a little off . . . ) and the story is also very good . The characters are pretty likable , and depending on which characters you prefer depends on which ones go with you til the end of the game . Depending on your relationship with them can also change the ending . The game has a ton of cut scenes , but I have yet to find one cutscene I didn't like . BUT , the switch from the easy level to normal is a hard one-I felt like there was a huge difference in the monster's power . Overall though , it's still a great game .
134 4 I got exactly what I asked for thanks so much got it a week . will buy from them again in the future .
166 4 I agree with drqshadow ( see his review ) and more . Battle system is unproportinal . Monster difficulty fluctuate dramatically . One minute you are fighting an easy monster that gives tons of exp and the next , you are fight a tough monster that gives you no exp . Item creation is long and tedios . Dungeons could be a little bit simpler to navigate through . I cant even describe how boring the story is . Battle system is horrible . Never once did i use fury to my advantage . This game was horrible compared to its sequel SO2 . I discourage you from buying this game but encourage you to buy number 2
108 4 First off this game had me hooked all the way till I got stuck and put the game down for a week , after that week I started to realize why I didnt like the game . First off the game is very tedious , I'm not a big fan of MMORPG's and the battle system felt very much like one , boring . Second of all the story was great till the second disc and the ending was enough to make me want to throw this game into a trash compactor ! ! ! ! ! the graphics were decent the cut scenes were great , but the fun factor and replay value of this game are equvalant to that of superman 64
176 4 First of all the real reason why they call this game Star Ocean Till The End Of Time is because youll be playing it till the end of time . This game has two fricken discs and I think they could of cut it down about 3 quarters . The storyline sucks I mean I was trying to look past it but its pretty hard when the first 4 hours are you walking around a beach looking for your parents . The stroy line has no effect on you , the characters suck , most of the game youll be talking to these crappy characters . I haven't even gotten started on the combat First of all the combat is ok when you first start it but then it gets complicated its completely real time so they want you to open different menues during the game when your opponents are beating the living s @ # * out of you . So by the time you find the spell you want your dead . And plus you don't get a sword until almost halfway through the game
Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
I'm a huge fan of RPGs . I grew up playing all different kinds , from Final Fantasy to Fallout , and I'm still always on the lookout for gems . When I heard this was coming out I got my hands on its two prequels ( for the Super NES / Famicom and PS1 ) and tried them out . I never finished either one . Like this latest installment , both were tired and unoriginal , with a far greater emphasis on fantasy than science fiction , despite being set in the supposed real world .
Star Ocean : Till the End of Time will take most players an exceedingly long time to complete - not because of its difficulty or size , but because of its immensely long cutscenes . This style of game-making is not necessarily a bad thing , but because of the large number of hours the player will spend watching and listening to the action , much of this review will treat it as much like a film as like a game .
First , the game features -
1 . Battle :
Like its predecessors , this Star Ocean has a relatively active battle system among the pantheon of RPGs . Players can switch between characters and move them freely and in real-time around the field . The action pauses when a menu is opened , such as for using items or casting magic ( symbology in the game-world ) . Three characters can take the field at a time , so the two not directly controlled by the player are automated . I found the AI to be fairly decent , and a certain amount of control can be given through strategy settings in the menu before entering a battle . In fact , this combat system was rather refreshing and different , though veterans of the series will find it familiar . However , there were two very serious problems . One is the absence of any direct camera control . Pans and rotation would be unnecessary provided the player could zoom in and out at will . When the player-controlled character nears an enemy , however , the shot zooms in , cutting off any view of the rest of the field . Even camera control would have been unnecessary if the shot had simply stayed wide and overhead at all times . The second problem is the unintuitive method for switching targets . The player cannot simply cycle through the enemies by pressing the shoulder buttons - s / he instead uses square , a button most games assign to commands , which also means the cycle only goes in one direction . It may sound unimportant , but when many enemies are attacking at once , in can make a big difference .
2 . Exploration :
Once upon a time , RPGs were a series of endless , repetetive battles with a few lines of story sprinkled around at distant intervals to try and keep the players ' interest . In the past few generations of consoles this trend fortunately came to an end , and most games now have players spending nearly as much time in the cities ( or other friendly areas ) as in the field , furthering the story or completing non-combat quests . I think this has been a move in the right direction , and Star Ocean is no exception to the trend . The game progresses rather linearly most of the time , without the kind of world map players of Star Ocean : The Second Story ( and most other RPGs ) might be familiar with . Towns have people to talk to , treasures to find , and occasional side-quests to complete .
3 . Difficulty :
The game is somewhat difficult by modern standards . What I mean by this is that a player may actually die once or twice during the course of the game due to carelessness or absent-mindedness . ( Think Destiny of an Emperor - difficult , not 7th Saga - difficult ) . In most of today's RPGs , the player really has to go out of their way to get killed . I found the difficulty balance here to be about right . Some leveling up will probably be required , but not so much that it should turn you off from playing . I want a small challenge , but I also want to make consistent , steady progress . Star Ocean hits the mark on that count .
Now , the movie / story features -
1 . Script :
Here's where the problems begin . The script is weak . In fact , it's one of the weakest scripts I've ever read or heard . First of all , it's hokey and stereotypical , even for a Japanese RPG . ( The main character's name is FAYT LEINGOD - it always makes me roll my eyes whenever I hear it ) . The heroine , Sophia , is a typical Japanese anime girl : gushy , cloying , dinner-plate-eyed , and with the maturity of an 8 - year-old . She's supposed to be cute , but I found her even more annoying than the whiny and overly-sensitive , pussy-footing Fayt . The rest of the cast isn't much better . As usual , the future of the universe rests on goofy characters like these , plus some even worse ( like the 4 - foot-tall ultra-cutesy circus performer Peppita , for example ) . Is it too much to ask that the heroes not always be children who act young even for their ages ? Is Square trying to send a message with their perpetual sixteen - and seventeen-year-old heroes that anyone over 25 should just move into a nursing home ?
Unfortunately , this is true of many RPGs ( and most of those from Japan ) . What sinks this one to the bottom of the story-telling barrel , however , is the sheer tonnage of wasted time . Many games have lots of long cutscenes . Sometimes the player spends more time watching them than playing . This can be done well . Xenosaga : Episode I is a good example . This can also be done poorly . Star Ocean : Till the End of Time is the epitome of the second category . I lost track of how many times the characters sat around talking about nothing or debating their options over and over and over again , usually in the least appropriate circumstances , without putting forth any new information or advancing the story in any way . Any editor or professional writer knows that , much like pieces of a machine , every part of a story or script must have a purpose in the greater picture . One example , without giving away much of the plot , occurs near the beginning of the game . Cliff and Fayt are stuck in a prison cell . They talk about what has happened so far , not adding any new insight . Then they talk about how they're stuck . Then , when someone comes to help them , they talk about whether to accept or not , going back and forth at least half a dozen times . All this takes close to 20 minutes in cutscenes , and is framed by quite a few more on both sides . We ( the audience ) have learned nothing new about the characters , their world , or our own when it's finished . This kind of conversation may be realistic , but it's not interesting , and it's bad writing .
2 . Direction :
This has problems beyond the ones mentioned above , but most modern RPGs suffer from the same ones . There are a lot of unnatural pauses in the dialogue that are not the fault of the voice actors . For reasons I will never understand , many games , including Star Ocean , record the characters ' dialogue one line at a time , then splice them all together . This means there's loading time between each line , so interruptions sound unnatural and reaction lines fall flat . ( Again , for an example of the right way to record dialogue - all at once or in appropriately-divided chunks , as in a film - look at Xenosaga : Episode I ) .
3 . Character & Location Design :
This is merely a matter of taste , but I didn't like the universe of Star Ocean . It was too close to Star Trek , only with ' magic ' thrown in . Humanity lives alongside countless alien species , almost all of which look as much like humans as Mr . Spock , have cultures barely distinguishable from our own , and are progressing along the same lines . At least the writers didn't have the aliens all speaking English ( the characters in the game carry portable translators to avoid problems ) .
Also , for a space opera the story spent a disturbingly large amount of time in Dungeons & Dragons-esque locations , dealing with knights and monsters .
Finally , I'm sick of fan-service . It ( and inappropriate comic relief ) is the main reason I can't stand anime , and it's becoming a deterrent to my enjoyment of console RPGs as well . Frankly , the female characters don't need to be beautiful or sexy at all . Even if they are , they ( and the men , as well ) should dress appropriately . This means not exposing shoulders and bellies in arctic weather , or wearing skirts that would get them arrested in Times Square . Sophia even starts the game in low-rider jeans , then neglects to even zip up the fly . Though she's supposed to be 17 , when she looks and acts 8 , this is a little disturbing . If game designers want to be taken seriously as artists ( and most do want to and should be ) then this kind of design has got to come to an end . ( Plus , I doubt people will still be wearing blue-jeans thousands of years into the future ) .
4 . Acting :
I'd heard bad things about the acting before I bought this game , but I found it to be decent , if not exactly Oscar-worthy . Certainly , it was better than average for a re-dubbed videogame , though Sophia's voice made me want to strangle her . The voices generally fit the characters , and the actors remained true to their roles throughout the game .
Ultimately , the story fell flat for me mostly because I couldn't empathize with the characters . I didn't like them , couldn't understand their decisions or motivations for those decisions , and found their constant , meaningless exposition annoying beyond what I wanted to put up with from a so-called ' game ' . In some cases I could have overlooked these negative aspects in the script and story and enjoyed the generally entertaining combat system for what it was , but Star Ocean is 90% dialogue . Unfortunately , less than 10% of THAT is STORY .
PS : For those of you who find my assessment of the dialogue in this game hard to believe , some kind , and possibly insane , individual over at GameFAQs has taken the time to transcribe every spoken line of Star Ocean for your enjoyment .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
First of all , I am so tired of how people think Square-Enix made this game - NO ! Square-Enix did not make this game , they only presented it and slapped their logo on it ( which isn't a bad thing , as Square is awesome ) , but give credit where it's due people ! Okay , my rant is over , I'll begin the review .
Being a fan of Star Ocean : The Second Story that I am , the debut of Star Ocean 3 is the one of the reasons I finally broke down and brought a PSX2 , even if the hardware is the weakest of all the systems , both in in power and durabilty .
On the positive side , Star Ocean 3 improves on its predecessor in many ways . Unlike Star Ocean 2 , everything is now 3D ( could you imagine if Star Ocean 2 was fully 3D on the PSX , the PSX would probably burst into flames trying to play it ! ) While the graphics are good , they never quite reach the level of other RPG's such as Xenosaga or Final Fantasy ( there are some obviously cut corners ) . This , however , is understandable as combat is much more chaotic , being there is much more going on on-screen at any given time in Star Ocean than either of the afformentioned titles . The fact their is no slowdown during battles is also a testiment to the game overall ( the same can't be said for the rest of the game however ) .
Combat has always been Star Ocean's claim to fame , and this installment delivers in spades . While combat was extremely fun in Star Ocean 2 , it was rather simplistic in nature as it mainly consisted of pushing buttons to preform special attacks to maul your opponent . Star Ocean 3 adds an entirely new layer the combat system with the addition of a fury meter ( which is a fancy word for a characters ' or enemy's stamina ) . No longer can you attack rerentlessly without pausing for a short break for your character to catch their breath . Fury also acts a blocking and counterattack measure as well , forcing players to use their heads instead of mashing buttons .
Item creation , Star Ocean's other claim to fame , has also recieved another impressive upgrade , now allowing you to customize your weapons and armor with various effects and factors . You can also hire people to create items for you while your exploring dungeons and the like .
Unfortunately , as far as Star Ocean 3 climbs , their are a few things that hold it back . The fact you can only use three characters in battle ( compared to four in Star Ocean 2 ) is a bit of a letdown . Overall the game itself it pretty easy ( the story portion of the game that is - say your prayers for some of the optional areas within the game ) .
Star Ocean 3 ' s story is probably the game's biggest stumbling block . It's not the story is not good ( although it is slow to develop , just like in Star Ocean 2 ) , but it's this element of the game that will ultimately end up being the deciding factor if players will enjoy Star Ocean 3 or not ( I know it was for me - I liked the story and it's various twists , but then at the same time I didn't ~ talk about an enigma ! ) .
I definately would recommend Star Ocean 3 to any RPG fan , especially since there wasn't a new Final Fantasy title in 2004 , but again , this game is not for everyone .

011 4 First off , I must say that the story in Star Ocean III is OUTSTANDING . I really like how the plot developes and the characters interact . At first , I found the voice acting to be a bit annoying , but got used to it rather quickly . The humor is also pretty good , as well . The maps are very large and leave for a lot of exploration . Usually the rewards are special treasures ( not includeing the map completion prizes . ) You'll be playing this game for a while , which is good ! It's fun and has great plot , character interactions and a nice battle system !
For years I've been thinking that the game designers who make RPG's should change up the way they do combat . Random encounters with a turn-based has really been getting old . Fortunately this game has changed that ! If you're quick , you can usually avoid most encounters ! And the battles are realtime , so there's a bit more activity to partake in . Very nicely done !
There are a lot of characters to choose from . Each one has his or her own weakenesses and strengths . The main chracter , over all , is pretty balanced . The designers have put a bit of thought into how you can increase your characters abilities and stats , which leaves some room for customization . I'm sure there's an optimal way to play , but the game really doesn't force you to do it !
In summary , this game is a blast , and should be part of any RPG fans collection .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Let me start off first by saying that this game gets undue criticism . Across the internet alot of people rip this game . And I will tell you that its a great game . People like RPG's for different reasons , but i think that there is alot of reasons to like Star Ocean 3 . Let me get the main reason of why people don't like this game , and thats the story . Without spoiling anything , about 30 - 35 hours into the game , a BIG twist comes down on you , and a number of people find it ridiculous , and I can see their point . It is cheesy , but it honestly didn't bother me in the slightest , and when it happens I was kind of like wth ? I don't know about you , but i like wth moments in games . Anyways , its not that bad , and the story does get a number of things right .
With that out of the way , let me tell you what Star Ocean gets right . First off , the battle system is quite simply amazing . It is challenging , yet not frustrating , and its very deep . For a RPG this is important , and I find this to be one of the strong aspects of the game . Secondly , the characters are all very good imo . They are not the most deep characters you'll ever find , but they are certainly likable , and thats important . Thirdly , the story has some good moments . It has a Star Trek'esqe setting , in that you get stuck on a medievel planet , and while your not supposed to interfere with whats going on there , you do . I find that aspect and story section to be most engaging , and it takes up a good portion of the game . Aesthetically , the game is very good . The character designs , art style , environments , and graphics all seemed very good . Its the quality you would expect from Square-Enix . The only other downside , is some poor voice acting , some of it gets annoying , but its not so bad as to ruin your experience with the game .
Another thing about this game , is that is feels huge . Its very long , without doing any sidequests or extra ttuff , it took me about 50 hours to beat the game . In RPG fashion , there is a number of things you can do if want to play longer . Anyways , I found this game to be quite enjoyable . I played it quite awhile ago and I still look back on it with good memories . Hopefully you will too .

031 4 I would rank this as one of the top 10 games for PS2 - the story had a lot of depth behind it - you would never know what happen the next chapter . Game play is not hard , and there are many sidequests and item creation that let you make a wide variety of items ( it is never one hundred percent created from one item to another and you need to recruit characters to make the right combine of characters to create the item . ) Unlike most other rpg games , the battles are in real time as you run around the ground , either attacking , casting magic , or use special moves on enemies that either actively stalks your characters or someone else in your party so you need to keep your eyes on your party .
Again , I would say Star Ocean , till the end of time is that good a game you should play !

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
This is a wonderful game and before I go into my pro's and con's I would like to recommend this to all RPG and Square / Enix fans out there !
Good :
1 . Nice long game ( 2 discs )
2 . Great musical score
3 . Nice story which has a lot of twists
4 . A take off from the norm battle system
5 . Nice little two player mode
6 . Great graphics
7 . Battle trophies ! Yes , now you can prove to your friends who is the bigger nerd !
Bad :
1 . Long game ( yes , I know this was under good too , but it can be a bad thing )
2 . Two player mode is quite difficult to obtain
3 . Giant dungeons with few save points
4 . I , for one , cannot stand the quantity per item limit of twenty ( 20 ) . Yes , I am aware that it was in all of the other Star Oceans as well , but I really just don't like it !
Take these as you may :
1 . Puns . Yes . Puns . There are many name puns in SO : TTEOT . Such an example is Dion Landers or Welch Vineyard . Don't let that be a turnoff , this is still a good game in spite of the bad puns .
2 . MP deaths . Yes . If you run out of MP you will die . The good thing is that the enemies have a set MP amount as well , so they can be killed with MP damage as well !
Great game ! Buy it ! Buy it for all of your friends ! This game has been an absolute joy to play . I really hope you enjoy it too !

041 4 It is convention to review a game by various criteria , such as gameplay , sound , and graphics . I can only assume this is done to allow otherwise unimaginative games which do not concern themselves with neither art nor artistry to garner a positive rating , such as that of the sports genre . In the following analysis of Star Ocean : Till the End of Time I will not review as one conventionally does , and instead will give an approach similar to the manner in which one writes an analysis of a novel . Although what I have written can and will be considered short given the voluminous amounts of text that critics have written about works in the western canon , I feel it contributes to the analysis of games as a literary medium , for a video game is no less a novel than a film is a play .
Star Ocean : Till the End of Time has been accused of copying the premise of many popular science-fiction works , such as The Matrix . This can be so only superficially , for Star Ocean : Till the End of Time concerns itself not with the meaning of humanity , as The Matrix does , but with the meaning of existence . It is a thoroughly religious concern - bringing to mind Who designed the designer ? Throughout the work , many layers of context are used , which supplement the work's greater concern . The beginning of context begins with the story itself - on a resort planet known as Hyda IV .
Those of a literary persuasion do not take a part of a novel for granted ; likewise , no elements of Star Ocean : Till the End of Time should be taken for granted . This is because Hyda IV is the backdrop for layered contexts - as a resort planet , Fayt metaphorically ignores what should concern him . The resort planet itself is a metaphor for the nature of a resort - a place where one goes to avoid concerns . The Vendeeni attack emphasizes this dreamlike state , for afterwards Fayt faces a harsh reality with no relief at all .
The planets Fayt encounters later expand the aforementioned layering . Vanguard III is emphasized for an extremely short amount of time , which is done to provide a contrast between a life of Luddism and the ultramodern life in which Fayt is accustomed . Elicoor II , however , ultimately sets the context for Star Ocean : Till the End of Time . It is utilized for so long a period to allow the player to forget what the primary objective is . The player becomes used to seeing himself as a sort of god . After the Vendeeni attack - which reminds one of the attack on Hyda IV , for both were done after the player is particularly settled in a state of mind - Fayt soon learns of the universe's origins and , in a state of utter irony , his situation becomes no different than the situation of those on Elicoor II .
The help of those at the Sphere company is comparable to Fayt's helping of those on Elicoor II , and the wrath of the 4D beings to that of Norton on Vanguard III . This foreshadowing , if not deliberate , is coincidental . It lessens the surprise of the 4D beings , and provides a context for the layering in the game .
One of the strongest arguments against intelligent design , and indeed of any argument advocating a designer , is the question of who designed the designer ? and Star Ocean : Till the End of Time provides context for that question with its layering . If the 4D beings designed the universe , then who designed the 4D beings ? Did 6D beings design the 5D beings that designed the 4D beings that designed our universe ? The game answers itself with a Descartean response ( I think , therefor I am ) , but it is not the answer that is important , it is the question - and Star Ocean : Till the End of Time raises that question better than no game before it .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Probably one of the biggest surprises I've ever enjoyed during my years in front of a video game console came when I first tried my hand at an unsuspecting little package dubbed Star Ocean : The Second Story . This old , overlooked two-disc pack for the PSone had been literally gathering dust on my shelf for years before I bothered to even test it out , and I suppose that complete lack of any kind of previous expectation was a big part of why I was so totally impressed and engulfed by what I found within the game itself . Unfortunately , by overwhelming me so effectively in its first American offering , my expectations for the future of the Star Ocean franchise went through the roof . In a way , it's funny ; I loved the precursor because I expected nothing of it and received everything I ever could've wanted , and then subconsciously built up the sequel to the point that nothing it could muster would ever be enough to appease me .
To start with , the story is beyond terrible and the characters are even worse . When I first met Fayt and Sophia , the two leads , I couldn't help but grimace . They're so paper-thin , so incredibly dull and intelligence-insultingly bland , I initially mistook them for a heavy-handed satire of the role playing genre in general . This is , honest to god , the most uninspiring cast I've seen since console RPGs were just gaining their footing in Final Fantasy I back on the NES . They'll say and do things that'll just make you stare blankly for a few seconds and then explode into unrelenting laughter . Fayt , in particular , is the very epitome of a stereotype . He has no flaws , and as a result he makes an incredibly boring leader . The characters seem so out of touch with reality that nothing ever seems to carry the kind of magnitude you'd hope for , even when entire worlds are exploding and individual races are being completely wiped from existence . By the time the third act comes around , bringing with it the one really interesting revelation in the storyline , you're forty hours in and have cemented your opinion of the game as a whole . Before that , it's cliche after cliche , with absolutely no originality thrown in to keep things halfway interesting .
Like its predicessor , TtEoT's gameplay is its greatest triumph . The battles have remained every bit as enjoyable and strategically brilliant as I remembered , and the controls are incredibly easy to comprehend . You'll have , at most , three characters in your party at any one time ( which is a major gripe I've had with the RPG genre in general for years now . . . why would six people stand by and watch their three buddies struggle in a fight with monsters , rather than joining in and cleaning house ? ) and they're all performing individual actions at the same time , to say nothing of the monsters on the other side of the battlefield . At a glance it would appear to be mildly organized chaos , but in action it's really pretty simple . Before , after and during the battle , you can set a specific attack style for the characters you won't be directly controlling , so they aren't wasting all of their strength on a meaningless enemy while a tough boss fight is just around the corner . If you want your weakest character to avoid physical confrontations and concentrate on healing , it's as easy as changing a setting . Usually , two members of your party will be following these instructions at any time , while you'll be directly in control of the third . Yet , despite the seemingly-obvious directions , the computer AI will occasionally find a way to screw up . Whether they're running headfirst into an explosion with low HP or repeatedly casting heal on a teammate who doesn't need it , your comrades will generally leave a lot to be desired . I even ran into a few instances where I'd found myself single-handedly taking on half a dozen enemies while my two teammates stood off in a corner somewhere and cheered me on .
Aside from the cutscenes , this is generally a visually uninspiring game . The characters look about as stale and unexciting as they act , and the environments and spells are nothing that hasn't already been done better by a previous title . To be frank , the Sega Dreamcast could have more than likely produced graphics equal to the ones seen here , and that's a tremendous knock at this stage in the PS2 ' s life cycle . With the PS3 peeking over the horizon , this should be the point in time when game developers are really starting to stretch Sony's aging console to the limits with amazing graphical effects , not leaning back and kicking out weak , flat displays such as this . Occasionally you'll run into an enemy or dungeon that's up to par visually with its contemporaries , but on the large I wasn't impressed . The graphical direction and wardrobe designs are solid enough , but it looks like a lot of the charm was lost in the translation from pen and paper to fully interactive three-dimensionality . As I alluded to earlier , the cutscenes are outstanding , but you'd expect that from a Square-Enix RPG .
This current-gen revisiting of developer tri-Ace's shining star feels like a hollow , emotionless shell more than it does a sequel five and a half years in the making . Rarely have I been more disappointed in a big follow-up title than I was with this one . It's strictly average , with passable graphics , weak voice acting , horrible characters and a mind-numbingly slow story killing any forward progress made by the battle system , which is still quite a blast . I feel dirty for considering this as a contemporary to The Second Story , although I'm beginning to question if even the PSone rendition was actually as good as I remember it . I don't think the ultimate goal of a sequel should be to force its fans to re-evaluate their feelings about the original .

045 4 There is exactly one reason that I hated this game : poor AI ( artificial intelligence ) . In this game you control one character in battle , while you are accompanied by two other characters controlled by the computer AI . These computer players are more of a reliability than anything . You have a few choices for their behavior , but none of them seem to have a significant effect on how they fight . It's really only two settings they have : rush recklessly into battle and die , or DO NOTHING . First of all , why is there even a setting for doing nothing ? At least make them dodge enemies or something . . . This was retarded . Other than that , they always recklessly rush into battle and won't even dodge obvious attacks or back away from enemies when they're in danger . So , they die off within one or two battles .
And if you expect to heal them , think again . They won't protect you , so you'll likely be interrupted by enemies when you try to heal them . So they'll die , and then you can't even heal yourself because it takes too long to cast without someone protecting you from enemies .
What this all means is this . You're going to have to grind levels and fight for an hour on ridiculous enemies to move the story on for 20 minutes . Then you'll repeat .
And trust me , the enemies are ridiculous . In one of the first dungeon areas , you fight these men in robes who yell out things like No , my money ! and I hate you ! ! . These are fat men in robes in some ruins that are supposed to be inhabited by bandits . WHAT ARE FAT ROBED MEN DOING IN BANDIT INFESTED RUINS ? ! I'm sorry , it just is too ridiculous .
Here's some of the good in this game . The roleplaying aspect is pretty interesting , though awfully shallow . By this I mean , your roleplaying doesn't change the story too significantly . The exploring is OK . . . but still pretty lame . Most treasure chests are filled with only healing berries ( really lame ) . There is a lot of voice acting , but it is pretty horrible . The characters are shallow , and their actions and dialogue are unrealistic .
Overall , it's just poorly designed . Bad gameplay , story , and characters .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Personally , this game tops one of my favorites . This is the first game in the series that I played , and I was motivated to play it after exploring a prequel being made . I found the story to seem solid and the battle system to be adequate , so onward I went to find the game and play it .
Starting out , I found that for being on the PS2 , it had rather good graphics . Most of the characters were well designed and their costumes looked very good . However , the amount of costumes were rather limited . Additionally I could easily pick out which characters were more developed in terms of graphics . For example , Fayt , the protagonist who is with his friend and parents on a vacation planet of Hydra IV , had a well-developed round face , hair that moved as he moved , and an overall had a nice look . Very early in the game you meet a group of circus performers and one is dubbed ' Ursus the Strong . ' Looking at his design , you can see some not-so-great alignment in his costume and he has a somewhat mediocre look .
As with many JRPGS ( Japanese Role Playing Games ) , story , dialogue , and characters are important . Starting with story , I must say that at the beginning , its simplistic nature was actually enjoyable although not original . However , as the game progressed , a major plot twist occurs and throws the game into a different direction and creates a very original atmosphere . Although I overall liked the story , the plot twist that happens makes the characters seem insignificant and the train of though can be confusing . However , most terms used in the game can be accessed by a very optional and helpful dictionary that outlines all the terms used in the game , whether it be a planet , race , or concept .
Moving on , we get to the dialogue . Be warned that this game has a lot of dialogue . Normally , that is a very good thing as it sinks the players into the game more . However , the dialogue could have been executed better . The voice acting was very good , but the pauses in-between conversations sound very awkward and out of place . If you like dialogue and story above actual playing , this game will give you its fair share , as almost every area has scripted dialogue .
As with every RPG , there is a great deal of design put on the characters . Fayt Leingod , the protagonist , is an Earth-born male college student who likes to play games ( let's connect with the audience ) . He is a well-intended character who cannot refuse to help someone in need and will go out of his way to help them . The other characters all have background information that is revealed later in the game . Each character has their own unique personality ; you have the good-willed , the happy-go-lucky , the hopeless , the annoying , the pessimistic , the reclusive , and the blunt . The wide variety of characters is sure to provide enjoyment for all to experience . Each character can in the end , according to a liking / affection level , be paired with Fayt in order to experience different endings .
Now , for those who want action , there definitively is enough of it . The real-time battle system is a different step from my adored Final Fantasy series . Characters have more control on countering , evading , and attacking . While you control one character , the AI controls your others . You can freely switch between each character and use them to your needs . Every character has a strong point and weak point , some times you might need a ranger , and sometimes you need a healer , or you might need someone to just melee . Either way , it can be accomplished here .
Star Ocean also removes random encounters that PLAGUED many other RPG's . Now you can see your enemies before you engage them . Strategically planning , you can avoid annoying situations which could not have happened in games like Final Fantasy or Lost Odyssey . Yet , like every game , there is a major flaw in the battle system , at least to me . Unlike traditional RPG's , mana , or MP , in this game can kill you if your character runs completely out of mana . In most games , your character can continue using physical attacks or regenerate mana . Unfortunately for Star Ocean , this is not an option . No HP or MP equals death .
Moving on we explore a wonder called ' inventions . ' This is a unique feature which allows the players to create new items and even patent them and make money off them . Additionally , they can synthesize add-ons to their current weapon to make it that much more powerful . The different skills range from Cooking , Writing , Alchemy , Smithing , and more .
And so we reach the music . I am a fan of classical music and this game sure has enough instrumental music to satisfy me . The music ties in with the environment around it , i.e . fast-paced-music in battles , slow and eerie music in scary situations , and so on .
Combining all these factors makes a very enjoyable game . Sure , it has its flaws , but I ask for a game that does not . In the end , it is opinion , and it is my opinion that this is a enjoyable game . I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes RPG's and a good story . Although it does not get a five from me , it is quite possible on my top three list on favorite games . I am dead excited for a sequel ( but not a prequel ) .
Pros :
+ Story
+ Characters
+ Battles
+ No random encounters
+ Inventions
+ Music
+ Voice acting
Cons :
- Weak dialogue transitions
- MP damage will result in death
- Some repetition
- Noticeable difference between well-developed and under-developed characters

076 4 Better than final fantasy ( in my opinion )
Pros :
The characters are attractive and personable , I characters are annoying then you don't care about them , but in this game you can sympathise with every single character and some parts of the story are actually very sad .
The graphics are sensational , in some parts they can be a bit mediochre but in the towns and cities and inside homes and shops the attention to detail is very impressive .
The battles are a refrehing change to random turn based combat , you can engage in the fights and learn new skills , levelling up was always a drag in final fantasy , but in this game , it couldn't be more fun !
Cutscenes can be boring but if you soak up the humour in the dialouge and pay attention to the history of the story it can be extremley interesting , try giving the characters voices and reading the subtitles aloud instead of turning the voices on , it can be fun if you just engage and enjoy . . .
The story itself is in depth and very intracate . . personally i love it , all the characters somehow tie into one another. You can even feel for the more minor characters early in the game such as Ameena and she creates a big impact on the story despite her insignificance , all of the random people in the villages say something of rellavence to the story , it's huge and extremley detailed and most of all , it makes you want to find out more and more and more !
Multiple endings
The fact alone that desicions you make can change the fate of the characters is enough to make you want to play to the end to find out what happens , a wicked feature .
The world
It spans across different planest all scattered with towns , cities , plains , desserts , fields , forests , dungeons and caves , with so may places to explore and so many different places to explore , Star ocean dosen't get boring .
Cons :
The battles start really overly easy and all of a sudden get pretty hard which comes as quite a shock , this isn't very good
Many of the caves and dungeons can be long and confusing , and you find yourself suffering from ' tomanyplacestogoneosis '
Just as things calm down and you want to buy some more blackberries a sudden chaange in the storyline occurs and you are summmoned to some skanky cave or something . . ggrrr
The music feels innapropriate at times , I mean , annoying rock music in a long and confusing cellar . . . how damn irratating ! !
I adore this game and it would have 5 stars if it wasn't becuase of it being a bit to hard . . .
It's easier and more fun than any final fantasy game on the ps2 , I wold also suggest Kingdom hearts for the younger gamer as it is easier than most rpgs .
Buy it .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
I have just recently bought this game because I was waiting for the price to go down , and I had just now gotten into Final Fantasy , so that has been keeping me busy . It has finally dropped down to the greatest hits list and is only $20 .
The game right off the bat was beautiful . Gorgeous suroundings and enviroments , but what do you expect from a RPG made by Square Enix . EGM magazine did not like the new fighting system , so I was kind of nervous in my first battle ( I always read reviews before buying games ) . The fighting system took only a few seconds to get into . . . EGM made a boo boo . Battling is so much fun , you can choose to fight enemies for the show up on the field and don't pop up unexpectedly like in most all RPG games . You can switch between characters during battles which is way cool . Storyline is good so far . The main storyline is has been summed up by Amazon . I'm on the part where you're on the medieval planet . War is on this planet and you are asked to build a ultimate weapon to end the war but your character has problems with the ideas of making a weapon to kill humans even though it will end the war ( sound familiar . . . the atom bomb in WWII ) . Game Informer magazine had problems with the music ; but I saw no problems with the music at all . The music fits the situation of the storyline quite well . I think Game Informer made a boo boo but it really is opinion on this matter . Characters aren't bad looking either . There has not been really good cutscenes with characters , but with space ships and things like that the cutscenes are amazing .
Anyways there are some flaws that got this game 4 stars instead of 5 . The dungeons are really big and is very easy to get lost . I mean thats fine sometimes if there are plenty of save points . Alas , there is not . The save points most always come at the beginning of a dungeon and before a Boss . It can get really annoying trying to find a save point . I wanted to go to bed at 10 one night because of work and I was playing Star Ocean ( I had started around six and at 10 decided to go to bed [ clarification ] ) ; I was in the middle of a cave . It took me till 1 in the morning to find a save point . There are many side quests in the game . The game jumps around a little too much and does not stick too much with the main storyline ( sort of like the Anime Inuyasha : Many extra episodes that has nothing to do with the main storyline at all . )
I do recommend this game . . . only to people who experience and love RPG . I don't really recommend this for RPG newbies because most people don't have the attention span to play this RPG . The game is long , no doubt ( 2 PS2 DVD disc . . . even San Andreas isn't this big ) so people might not have the determination to finish the game . RPG newbies pick up any of the Final Fantasy VII-X games , if you like those then pick up Star Ocean because then you will have a the feel of a RPG .
It has been a few months since I wrote this review , but I have continued with the game . I had avoided so many enemies , that when I got to a boss , he destroyed me . I went back to level myself up , and I still got whooped by the minions . After all this , I gave up on the game . Therefore I reduce the overall fun to 3 stars because it is a very challenging game . . . too much of a challenge for me .
What makes a good RPG is storyline , good characers , and what I think is important : Music that fits the situation . This game definitly has them all .
100 4 I have just recently bought this game because I was waiting for the price to go down , and I had just now gotten into Final Fantasy , so that has been keeping me busy .
110 4 I was completely and utterly disappointed by this game . I had high hopes for a game set in the future , thinking that the creators would seize the opportunity to excercise some interesting new twists in an otherwise redundant genre , which they completely passed up . The characters are a joke , there is absolutely no personality to speak of other than the typical couragous caring youth , menacing silent anime bad guy , cocky muscular blonde guy , confused scared wimpy teenage girl , etc , etc . BORING .
The plot is laughable ( at best ) and extremely slow moving , it seems to go around in circles as you are constantly returning to the same places which creates a gigantic sense of irony throughout the game . Some of the bosses come out of nowhere and seem to be unrelated to anything , as they just pop up out of a hole or drop from thin air , and the battle begins . The dialogue is uninteresting and drek , as it has all been heard before , and the attempts at comic relief are almost depressing .
Another failure is the the battle system . There is no room for strategy unless you feel like standing in the corner healing your characters as they willingly allow themselves to be crushed to a pulp by the enemies - this was my case at least , and was most prevalent towards the end of the game.I am one dungeon away from beating the game , and I refuse to play anymore .
I may pick it up if I become particularly ( desperately ) bored within the next 3 days , but in the meantime I will be waiting for my new game to arrive ( I just ordered Shin Megami Tensei : Digital Devil Saga ) . If you are going to purchase this game , get it here because it is only $20 , and paying anything more would be an unwise choice .
112 4 The story line is good , but the emotional aspect of the character's interaction between each other fails to grab me - the timing of people's deaths , the lack of , or almost complete absence of any love story .
Game makes you jump through silly hoops like searching the entire planet to find some random person you have to talk with to make the story advance .
I guess there are different endings you can get once you beat the game but mine kinda sucked lol . Maybe others are better ?
Also I think the dungeons you can do after you beat the game are just a bit too hard . I maxed out the attacks for my characters with ultimate weapons , got to level 200 and couldn't even come close to beating lenneth in sphere 211 who was still able to kill one of my characters in a single attack .
Over-all the game is still fun and has a decent story line .
Pros :
Good battle system
Cool storyline
No random fights
Good game options ( custom contols , multiple difficulty levels )
Additional sidequests after beating game
Cons :
Weak ending
Can only fight with 3 characters at a time
Game makes you jump through silly hoops
First disc has way too many videos / not enough game play
only 2 video sequences with good graphics

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
The latest installment in the Star Ocean series has a battle system that's unreasonably tedious , insulting , badly-planned and frustrating . The concepts of fury and the battle guage were bad ideas that slow down the story to a crawl , debilitating your characters in any fight .
Here's how it works : After every single action you take in battle , your fury ( or stamina ) decreases . When your fury is low , your character just sits there panting or doubled over in exhaustion , leaving you vulnerable to being critically hit . I can see how that seems realistic with fighting , but how is that the case with short movement and using items ?
Being vulnerable to attacks in this way wouldn't be so bad ( after all , none of the battles for the first half of the game are challenging at all ) if it didn't break down your battle gauge .
The only method of gaining experience ( and thus growing more powerful ) is bringing the battle gauge to 100% and gaining the experience bonus from it by initiating attacks in the first few moments of battle . But after all the time you put into raising the battle gauge ( it can take hours ) , it breaks when the character is critically hit - when can happen when your fury is low .
So here's the typical scenario : spend a boring , mind-meltingly tedious amount of time raising the battle gauge in hopes of gaining a reasonable amount of experience . Achieve 100% , use an item , pant in exhaustion , get hit , and the gauge breaks . Repeat process .
The battle system takes away a good chunk of enjoyability from gameplay . Maybe next time , Square .

123 4 I bought this game because I loved the cool-looking graphics , plus it looked really deep with all its alternate endings and such . Also , it was by Square Enix , and many of my favorite games of all time have been developed by them . So I picked it up , anticipating another captivating adventure .
The graphics were , indeed all that had been promised . The character models were great , especially in the cutscenes , and the environments were pretty . This was the sole element of the game that I was completely satisfied with .
The story was OK , although I didn't get very far in it . Before long , though , it began to get annoying . The characters had no personality beyond weak sterotypes , and the dialogue had no surprises or hooks to keep you interested . It was all very bland and cliched . Basically , this was the story : Boy meets girl , boy and girl hang out , both kids ' parents disappear in tragic accident , boy wakes up in mysterious land and is arrested for a crime he didn't commit , boy meets sexy girl in thigh-high boots and a miniskirt and , without much explanation , is led through a mysterious secret passage . Yawn .
Perhaps if I had stuck with the story longer , it would have improved . But what kept me from progressing in the game was the combat . It has an interesting concept behind it ; everything is in real-time , and you can actively dodge an enemy's attacks . Try as I might , though , I couldn't get my character to do anything except rush the monster and wail on it until it died . I learned a few special skills , but the game never explained how to use them . Sometimes , I would manage to pull one off , but it was usually a surprise , as I couldn't figure out what I had done to make it happen . I had heard that the combat was a joy to participate in , but it was continually frustrating for me . I couldn't believe that not even the freaking in-game tutorial explained how to use skills .
Finally , the music sucks . I know this doesn't sound like a major issue , but believe me , ten minutes with this stuff and you'll feel like jumping out the nearest window . The hotel where the game starts has an irritating , Japanese-sounding pop song ; later , a forest area has the loudest , most banging heavy metal you'll ever hear . The soundtrack never fits the situation , and is always horrible .
I couldn't stand this game , and I doubt you'll be able to either . This is NOT Square-Enix's next masterpiece . If you're looking for an RPG with a fast-paced battle system , try Baten Kaitos or Tales of Symphonia instead . Don't even touch this thing .

THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME I WISH I HAD A CAMERA . I don't know why I just wrote that down , anyway . This game is truly NOT a Final Fantasy killer , but it's worth playing this game , for beyond the surface of the tutorial level , you unleash a game so powerful , so devastatingly good , it's hard to stop playing . I call it Star Ocean : ' Till the End of Time , you can call it another great Square Enix game , I call it Star Ocean : ' Till the End of Time Director's Cut . That's its real name , you dig ? Two disks , this game is awesome . A friend of mine bought this game , and he loved it . It only has 4 chapter , even though is has only 24 hours of gameplay ( True RPG players don't think that's much . ) I personally beleive this is an instant classic . Dig ?
164 4 SO3 is an astonishing game . . . .
THE GOOD
- Ridiculusly long ( nearly 200 hours if you play the entrie postgame ) yet never gets repetive .
- Unique battle system , you see enmies , and can engage in a fight with them or try to dodge them
- Invention system , very fun to try and make uber weapons and armor
- Very deep storyline , with a very nice plot twist wich you will either love or hate
- Just plain fun !
THE BAD
- too many characters , you will have to play a few times to choose a good party of 3 and stick with it
- Absurdly long cinematics ( the first 3 hours are watched not played . . . . )
- Invention system involves alot of presing X X X X X X X X ( DOH i missed the right price range ) X X X X X ; . . . . .
THE UGLY
- Hmm . . . .
- Uh . . .
- * Crickets chirping *
180 4 There are alot of unhandicap friendly as a person with limited mombility the gme ends for me at about the end of disk one .
There is a puzzle that requires you yo press the circle button at verrying lenths and stretghs i dont know about you but having to spend 5 hours pressing the circle button perfectly or geting killed takes the fun out of a game
but it was fun up until that point
Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
It is a rare event indeed when I manage to play halfway through a game ( 20 + hrs ) and then have to quit because of the overpowering desire to destroy my PS2 , the controller , and my entire living room furniture setup out of sheer rage and frustration . I say rare , because most trash games are lucky to get a few hours out of me before they get flushed down the toilet . I'll admit , reluctantly , that I tolerated the first part of the game . So when did the honeymoon end ? Wow , where do I begin ?
- Story . To put it simply : it's dull . Aside from the initial medieval planet you start on , the rest of game failed to provide any form of intriguing plot . Once the giant SPACESHIP OF DOOM appeared and starting blasting things with laser beams , I yawned and lost interest . Most of the story is cliched , and that which is not tailors mostly to the Star Trek crowd ( of which I am not a fan ) .
- Characters . The characters you control are lame and annoying , with Fayt being the worst offender by far . Gee Cliff , I don't see why we can't just give that big dragon a big sloppy kiss and huggity hug so that we can all just live in glorious peace and harmony . Do we have to kill it ? Never mind the fact that you just polished off 5,000 of his brothers and sisters in that cave you just trekked through , Fayt you moron . The other characters aren't as bad personality-wise , but they're just as verbose . Yada yada yada . Be quiet .
- Dialogue . Mind-numbing . Like someone else said in their review , most of this game is dialogue and cut-scenes . You know , if a company is going to make this much of a game dialogue , then why not make it any good ? God , I just wanted the characters to shut up already and go eat an blueberry or something . You're not philosophers , you're monster hitmen . Go do your job . Suffice it to say , this part of the game probably accounted for 15 of the 25 hrs I put into the game before ending the trauma altogether . Too much talking about a boring story and not enough action .
- Battles . By far , the most irritating part of this game . Granted , it was unique for a few hours , but it quickly got old and stale . Why ? For several reasons . 1 ) Enemy difficult is woefully inconsistent . You'll be blazing through one dungeon , killing enemies in 3 - 4 hits , and then in the very next dungeon , enemies take 50 hits before they die . I remember spending 2 hours in one area , raising mad levels with my Triple EXP bonus gauge activated , only to walk into the next dungeon and have the first group of enemies use me for toilet paper ! WTF ? ! Bosses are the same way : ridiculously easy in one battle , and near impossible in the next ( without at least 10 attempts ) . 2 ) Enemies use a paralysis counteract if you hit them when their fury is full . This wouldn't be a problem if enemy Fury actually DROPPED when they attacked like your players ' do . I'll be lucky to get in one hit before CLANG NOW YOU'RE PARALYZED . The enemy would usually follow up with a hit that took 100 hp off my my 2500 hp total , and my bonus gauge would break , citing a Critical Hit . Yeah , that's a critical percentage . Fun . 3 ) Gone are the days when just losing all your HP would kill you , now you have to friggin ' worry about your MP too ! If it hits 0 , you die ! Hooray ! My favorite part was in one cave where this one enemy used some vortex blade attack and killed off two of my high-level characters immediately ( each had 3000 + hp full up ) , mainly because the attack removed MP rather than HP . Screw you . 4 ) Enemy AI is cheap and stupid . They simply use the same powerful attacks over and over again . Same goes for the lame bosses . Your characters are wailing away on some boss , lost in some 30 hit combo , when all of a sudden FIRE BREATH happens and all your characters and blown across the screen , with half their health gone , nearly dead from MP loss , and no fury . Probably confused or poisoned too . Rinse and repeat , and you have the general battle experience provided by this game .
- Exploring / treasure . I remember in the good ol ' days when exploring was productive and finding treasure chests was actually * GASP * enjoyable ! Why ? Because actual TREASURE was found . I think out of the 1,000 chests I managed to open before quitting , 950 of them contained some form of freakin ' berry ( used for healing purposes ) . Completely sucked the fun out of exploring . Why can't you give me more weapons ! ? !
- Items . Yay , I can only carry 20 of each . Umm why , considering I use 5 of them after every battle . Nice .
- Inventing . So dumb . Just how complicated must you make this process ? It would be nice to have potential inventors clue you in as to which item they are looking for and where they are , rathing than spewing some more SO3 plot-garbage that means nothing anyway . Hooray , Cynthia is available to recruit ! So where is she , and what do I need to do to get her ? WHO KNOWS , NO ONE IS GOING TO TELL YOU ! Why not even a little hint ? ? Oh I get it , difficulty . Right .
- Hidden things . This reminds me of the more recent final fantasy games . You have to complete 10 off the wall , ridiculously hard tasks just to get one weapon , or one inventor . Sure , I'll win a bunny race 100 times in a row to get this one inventor . Why on EARTH would you want to do that ? How on EARTH would you even know to DO that in the first place ? It's like they want you to purchase a strat guide with the game . Thieves .
- Battle trophies . Stupid and not worth collecting , seeing how most of them are earned from completing mindless and outrageous tasks such as Win 5,000,000,000 battles or Win 3,000,000 battles without getting hit , and when you do collect enough of them , the rewards are poor . Costumes for a battle mini-game . Yawn . New difficulty level . Oh wait , do I get to play the game on a NEW , HARDER difficulty level ? Oh boy another 40 hrs of absolute frustration and poor design awaits .
- Puzzles . I just love trial and error puzzles . It's a good thing too , since this game is full of them . Sigh . This category also needs to include the where do i go next puzzle , where during a cutscene , a character will mention off-hand where you need to go next , and I'll miss it because I sneezed or something , and then I'll have absolutely no idea where to go . And townspeople won't even help me ! WTF ? How about a world map that indicates your next location or goal . Novel !
I remember 10 years ago when games used to be fun , and not a chore . You know , you can still have difficulty in a video game without making the player suffer through some overly complicated battle system , fighting enemies for hours on end because the stupid things won't die . If only the developers would take a little time to adjust the flow of the game - - start off easy and progressively get more difficult , but never too difficult as long as you're leveling at a reasonable rate . I want my games to move at a brisk pace , only slowing down when I choose to level or complete a sidequest . Don't make me spend 5 hours fighting enemies to gain enough experience to raise another TWO levels so that maybe ONE of my characters can survive a boss battle . Is that too much to ask ?
Lastly , let me end on a positive note . Thanks to the glorious idea that is Playstation greatest hits , this POS was only 19.99 . At least I didn't pay twice that for this dog .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Since about everyone else explained the story , I'll skip that .
Star Ocean : Till the End of Time is a really good game for people who like RPGs , and can withstand long cutscenes .
The REAL clencher is whether you have enough patience to spend hours leveling up to beat the area boss .
CHARACTERS : You'll find yourself caring about them , and sometimes . . . not . My personal favorite is either Albel Nox or Fayt Leingod . I know , all you who've already played the game are laughing at me for liking Albel , haha , very funny everyone . Albel's character is all angsty and arrogant . . . It reminds me of Akito from Fruits Basket . . . . . . * on topic ! ! *
Many of the sub-characters are interesting , and though many have sad endings , it adds to this thought in your mind . Their stories all add up to the main story theme throughout the game . Ameena's story was the most interesting for me .
STORY : Really engrossing . The story is complex , and makes you want to advance the story to see what happens next
Overall , this game is really entertaining and fun if you're patient enough . The story should have you engrossed , though there are times where you may lose track of it . . .
Pros :
- Good story
- Likable Characters
- Battle System
- Item Creation System can be fun when you create good stuff and synthesize it to your weapons
Cons :
- Sometimes long cutscenes
- You probably should have a fair amount of patience . . .
- The game takes a long time to finish . . . ( May also be counted as a pro . . . )

I really . . . really . . . REALLY liked this game ! I never actually play games for hours on end , but there was something special about this one . I can tell you , this game is worth buying ! The effects of the game may not be the best , but what it may sometimes lack in graphics it makes up for in great characters and fantastic gameplay .
What I like most about this game is that it diversifies itself - I mean , one boss may be hard and the next boss may be easy , you never really know . The characters are so colorful and they don't have the bland attitudes of some RPG characters . This game keeps you hooked because you really don't know what is coming next , and it's EXCITING . Not to mention the scenery itself is so interesting and everything , from the fighting to the people to the actual plot , fits together wonderfully . You will be HOOKED the minute you play it !
I think if you are a fan of the Final Fantasy games , you will love this game . Buy , buy , BUY ! ^ _ ^

PROS :
Fun and challenging combat
Great graphics
Decent voicework
Plenty of customization
GREAT Story ( some hate it , some love it )
Fun Item Creation
CONS :
Voicework may be decent , but that doesn't mean it isn't annoying sometimes
Can't hit enemies while they're knocked down
Spells can be intereupted easily
Fayt's backstory never really gets explored after a certain point

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
This game is fun . The story is pretty original , but the plot is multi-layered . You begin as Fayt Leingod who basically lives in a space-age world with other humans and species . Fayt's world is attacked by unknown beings , and eventually , Fayt crash-lands on a world whose development level is that of approximately Medieval times . From there , an entire subplot begins and unlike most subplots of most RPGs I've played , this subplot will keep you busy for a LONG , LONG time - - and that's WITHOUT sidequests !
Don't get me wrong - - the game is a lot of fun . Your characters learn a lot of powerful and fun techniques as they level up , and in my opinion the things some of the monsters say are funny .
As the game proceeded though , I found myself forgetting what the original plot was all about because the subplot on the Medieval-type world took such a long time to develop , until the unknown beings that first attacked Fayt's world suddenly attacked the new world . Then Fayt and his friends , some old , some new , go to investigate why they're being attacked . I won't give these details away too much , but the game for me took a tiny bit of a downturn at this point . The bosses suddenly seem to get a lot harder , more annoying , and more plentiful . There is a fun place to level up at this point though ( in the form of an arena ) , and if you fail it's not an automatic game over , which is nice .
One last thing : the final boss is PHENOMENALLY HARD ! ! ! He has like 3 forms and all told , over a million hp with an attack or two that hits almost the whole screen . I've beaten it , and the ending is fun to watch ; but it was all luck - - my other characters were all dead except Fayt and I had no healing items or magic left . But - - this game is fun . And so I do recommend it .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
As a fan of the Star Ocean series , I was excited when I was finally able to get my hands on a copy of SO3 . That jubilation soon turned to I can't believe I wasted almost two months on this lackluster piece of garbage , hoping the game would pick up . Let's go over the pros and cons of this latest installment .
Pros :
- You can turn off the battle voices or voice acting during scenes ( always a plus . Oh , Sophia , Roger . . . how I hate thee . )
- Nice visuals
- Decent voice acting , although many voices don't fit the characters and a few are . . . rotten apples ( Welch Vineyard , anyone ? )
- No random battles
Cons :
- Allies aren't too bright in battle . The have a habit of standing in front of enemies and GET SOME ( get killed )
- Poor battle system
- Characters can die if their MP OR HP drops to zero
- Enemies will be brutal in one dungeon , and weak in the next
- Shallow characters ( for the most part )
- Weak story with a plot twist so inane , I can almost definitively guarantee you WILL return your copy to Amazon.com in a complex mixture of shock , humor , and disbelief . It's that mind bogglingly BAD !
- No TRADITIONAL Private Actions ( this means nothing to those who have never played this series )
- Item Creation system that will have you tearing out your hair in frustration . Nothing at all like the previous games ! This feature eats more out of your pocket than the Federal Income tax , and the success rate of creating an item , even though certain characters have an aptitude for a particular craft is around 30% ! To top that off , the loading screen whenever the characters are attempting to create an item takes an eternity compared to the more time efficient item creation of Star Ocean 2 !
- Lots of backtracking . I mean LOTS of backtracking ! There is so much back tracking in this game , Henry Townsend of Silent Hill 4 would cringe !
In short , this game is dull and uninspired . CSPAN plays this game to fall asleep ! For those of you looking to get INTO the Star Ocean series , this game will definitely turn you OFF . Avoid this one ! Find the ROM for Star Ocean and try to find Star Ocean 2 at a reasonable price to get yourself into this series .
As for fellow Star Ocean veterans . . you really aren't missing much . Let's hope Star Ocean 4 isn't such a kick in the pants .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
There is exactly one reason that I hated this game : poor AI ( artificial intelligence ) .

And bigger than ever ! What's to say here ? This game infact IS , extremely addictive as put in other reviews . I'm writing this review without even have finished half of the game , and I can already tell you all , that I absolutely love it . The storyline doesn't present itself all at the begining , it takes QUITE awhile ( hours on end ) to realize the absolute true plot of the game . This is quite a good thing , as most games reveal their major purpose at the very begining and that leaves the player practically KNOWING how it's going to end . But this game . . . it doesn't reveal the TRUE plot of the game till well over 10 hours into it . I'm not going to give anything away , but I will say you'll be spending 10 + hourse of battling , talking , and anticipating , up to the point of climax in this game where a major event happens , and the ONE TRUE PLOT becomes revealed .
What else to say ? This is a MAJOR improvement from Star Ocean 2 , and Star Ocean ( only released in Japan ) before it . The battles , game , subquests , FMVs , minigames , monsters , and characters , are ALL in fulltime 3D , so absolutely NO cartoons here ! The game is seemingly 10 times longer than that of Star Ocean 2 before it . And to top it all off , absolutely no more random battles are aparent in Star Ocean : Till The End of Time ! All the enemies are on the screen to rather chase you down , or be ran from . What does this mean ? You can choose to avoid battles all throughout the game , if you want to . But it wouldn't be adviseable , as leveling up is a NECESSITY to survive at later points in the game .
The PROS are well . . . I guess I already mentioned them and they've been already mentioned by other reviewers but i'll say it again in list form :
- Awesome plotline
- Full 3D graphics
- New and BETTER battle engine
- No more random battles
- The game is long as [ CENSORED ] !
- And aparently ( once again ) it comes with multiple endings
The game's only CON ( to me ) is that it's just . . . aggrovating at some points . There are dungeons that are going to stump the living [ CENSORED ] out of you , and leaving you hanging around in them , for what seems like hours on end . The dungeons are huge , and at times will require you to solve specific riddles within them to advance . Sometimes these riddles are easy , sometimes these riddles are damn right hard . But in the end , the dungeons are the most aggrovating and time consuming part of this game . And some just seem to span on for what seems like , forever . It's even easy to get lost , and go the wrong way , these dungeons are so huge !
Despite that one little annoyance , Star Ocean : Till The End of Time , is a great game , and fans of the original 2 ( or just Star Ocean 2 , if you've never played the original first ) will love it . It's majorly re-defined Star Ocean !
And once again , the game is just effin ' huge ! So much to do , so much time ! I ( personally ) am like 14 hours into the game , and still ONLY on disc 1 . And I highly doubt i'm anywhere near half done with it ( but I might be ) . Yeah , the game is just THAT big . Dare I say it seems like it's bigger than Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas itself !
At any rate , I highly suggest picking up this game . It's good for anyone who's looking to rather 1 , play a HUGE RPG game , 2 , check out the rest of the Star Ocean series , or 3 , a great GREAT way , to get into the series ! The game will NOT disappoint , I promise you . But you'll be playing it for a very VERY long time , just to get to disc 2 , and that's a PROMISE . But hell , most RPGrs , LOVE long RPG games . So this just may be , right up your alley !
So despite it's one majorly annoying flaw , this game comes off as one of the best RPGs ( to me ) of 2004 !
Get this game , you'll enjoy it for as long as it takes you to complete it ( which may be quite literally , Till The End of Time . )

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
I had heard some good things about Star Ocean and was eager to try it out . Unfortunately , this proved to be a costly mistake that drained hours of my life which could've been better suited playing a good game .
PRESENTATION : The game starts off average and pretty much stays there . There is a moment where the story picks up , and with it your hopes . But it too comes crashing down when the story drags its mediocre behind on for hours .
SOUND : The are some good pieces in here . The battle music is , well , average . There are one or two boss fights that sound good , but the rest are just bad . Also , be sure to use subtitles since the horrid voice-acting will cause you to plug your ears .
GRAPHICS : The game really hurts here . In cutscenes , the characters barely move , the mouths are just squares that flap up and down . It's not horrible , but nothing worth talking about .
GAMEPLAY : Every review will tell you that this is where it exceeds , and its true . That's why the fun rating is higher than the overall rating . I got into the system after a few hours , but it doesn't get better at the rate that most rpg's do .
OVERALL : This game is not absolutely horrible , it just doesn't have much going for it . The battle system alone cannot save this game . If you're new to rpg's , I'd recommend it . The real time battle system is easy for beginners to enjoy since it's more fast paced than turn-based rpg's are . But veterans beware , this is not for you . You've more than likely played an rpg must better than this .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
It is convention to review a game by various criteria , such as gameplay , sound , and graphics .

First off , I must say that the story in Star Ocean III is OUTSTANDING .

Star Ocean : Till the End of Time ( henceforth known as SOTET ) is a role-playing game where you command the fate of Fayt ( pun intended ) Leingod , a college student from earth in the distant future . Galactic confrontations force Fayt to separate from his loved ones , and Fayt must survive as many people attempt to capture him for unknown reasons .
There are many things that are enjoyable in the game :
1 ) The battle is real-time , and not turn based . If you want a change in pace , this might interest you .
2 ) The item creation feature in the game allows you to develop weapons , armor , accessories , food , and medicine . Not only can you create weapons and armor , but you can make what you have stronger .
3 ) The game has many twists and turns , and multiple endings to achieve . Different plays through the game yield changing character dialogues , different playable characters , and thus different battle tactics .
4 ) The voice acting in the game is good , particularly in the cases of Cliff Fittir and Albel Nox ( I'm pretty sure he's Albedo in the Xenosaga games ) , as well as Nel , all playable characters .
5 ) The game is long and it has replay value so that you can create a totally different party , set of items , events , and decisions in your second and third quests .
I highly recommend this game to any and all RPG enthusiasts .
022 4 Star Ocean : Till the End of Time is one of the better Action-RPGs I've ever played . The plot can get tedious at times depending on how you prefer to play RPGs in general ( lots of training / leveling versus flying through dungeons ) . I also wish the game had made better use of the futuristic setting available but , instead you spend a great deal of the early and middle game doing what you'd do in most RPGs : swinging swords , casting spells , dungeon-crawling and monster-slaying . I think the best aspect of the game is the combat system . My only complaint about Final Fantasy type games is how monotonous the turn-based combat system can get after 70 + hours of play . Star Ocean offers a refreshing alternative to that by making the combat real-time .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
I would rank this as one of the top 10 games for PS2 - the story had a lot of depth behind it - you would never know what happen the next chapter .

The great thing about Star Ocean is that its characters have very fresh and unique appearance , they have personalities that you want to learn about , and the most important : it has a very interesting plot . Do not expect length and fancy CG cartoons , there are a few , but the selling point is essentially the plot and many distinguished characters . You travel among different spaces and times , including sci-fi future scenario with advanced technology , medieval times in so-called under developed planets . The main character is a typical teenage boy , lean , tall and a bit cute . The dubbed audio isn't bad at all - though I always prefer the original Japanese . Most of the voices are great and build on the personalities . I highly recommend you get some kind of guide to walk through this game . You can certainly get free ones online . One that I found is very complete , though the offical guide is still great because it has the maps . The world in Star Ocean can get quite large and get tiresome at times . The good thing is that you can always run away from a lot of stupid monsters that you don't want to deal with . Finally , sit back and enjoy the conversation .

This is a great game . I love it . This is a beautiful game , except it is very long . and i got stuck in the middle because i ran away from all the battles now when i have to fight i am weak and i cant win . Not much of a review but this is a great game . And it is a good price , even better it is 2 discs . That means its long .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
It is convention to review a game by various criteria , such as gameplay , sound , and graphics .

I played both the original Star Ocean , and Star Ocean The Second Story . The latter of those is one of my favorite games of all time . So when this game came out I was very excited . I bought it the day it came out and played through it very quickly after getting it .
The thing that I like about this game is the battle system , which if fast paced and very fun . You can chain your moves together to make them more powerful and unlock awards for your different achievements in battle . The moves are also very cool .
The story of this game is sadly lacking . It does have multiple possibilities for endings , but you don't really care once you've beat the game . There is a bonus dungeon like there was on Star Ocean the Second Story but it is much easier and I found it quite disappointing . If you can figure out the weapon customization in this game then you can beat it . That is all there is to it .
Overall if you're really want to you could try it , but don't say I didn't warn you . The better thing to do would be to find the old Star Ocean The Second Story for the old playstation and play through it .

Start ocean is a good game really , but a majority of it is cutscenes . Oh yah . . . Some one asked for nortons code , its a combination of these three numbers : 6,2,5 . The graphics are nice , could do better for the running and walking graphic . The dungeons are heck long . . So prepare to be in there for a while ! Yes , the game can get frustrating sometimes . . . . okay i lied . . alot .
Good things about Star Ocean
* Nice graphics
* Great Story Line
* Vast dungeons and fields
* based on your PS2 time sys v3 .
Downs
* poor running graphics
* Cutscenes take forever
* Dungeons way to big !
* Storyline very confusing
* Does not have very good level capatibility , as someone said , you can 1 monster in 5 hits , and when you go into the next room . You could be faced with a monster that will smuther your face in the dirt in one hit .
The overal game is good . They could take of Peppitas autograph off of Fayts Shirt , and while leaving Whipple , and crashlanding , being caprtured going to Kirlsa yadadada , what happened to Mirage the navigator ?

Star Ocean Till the End of Time is one of the best RPG I really enjoy . The only RPG that allow character to usse food to heal and revive the fighters . The graphics is one of the best and it very clear . The game also offer different ending for the main character . I love playing this for the big fight and reward , it worth the challenge of trying it in a difficult level . I think Star Ocean Till the end of time is one of the few RPG I love playing over and over .

I absolutely love this game ! ! ! I just can't quit playing it ! ! ! There are soo much stuff that you can do . There are a ton of side quests and you can get different characters for different parts depending on relationships with those characters . Not to mention that you can collect battle trophies which passes the time that you spend leveling your characters up . There is also a two player battle game on here where you can play any character and they have different outfits . Also you don't always have to play the main character Fayt . You can choose to play anyone that you have in your party . To be honest there is a lot of talking at times but the interaction between the characters is hilarious ! ! !
Now I have read some of the other reviews and they do seem a bit harsh . I mean just cause square makes this game doesn't mean that it's just like final fanasty nor should it be compared to it . Not every RPG is a final fanasty or anything like it ! ! ! I hate it when everyone clumps things together like that it's like comparing Iron Man and Batman . Two different comics . . . . . . ( marvel and D.C . ) . Yeah final fanasty is the most popluar franchise and most are really awesome to play but they are not necessarily the bases of all RPGs . I know a few people that like this game and hate final fanasty . So it's like comparing apples to oranges !
Sorry for all of you reading this and going wtf . I just felt that this game isn't getting fair reviews cause of all the comparing . This is a definite game for all who love RPG games . For all the reason's listed above . I would also recommend getting the strategy guide cause there is sooo much you can miss without it . Happy playing ! ! ! ! !

Whether you're looking for hundreds of the best battles you'll experience in any RPG on the market or to fight for only what's necessary , the options are entirely yours . For some of us , however , the RPG that took almost a generation to arrive proves that it's indeed good enough to last us Till the End of Time .

I love this game . It has one of the most innovative battle systems I've ever seen , and I've played a lot of RPG's . The story is also quite involving and breaks the 4th wall most excellently .

This is a really nice RPG . It has a neat , never done story line which kept me guessing and had nice cut scenes . The game is also two disks and is very long . You wont blow through this game in a week and you get attached to the characters . Overall a nice Final Fantasy genre type of game .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
So my friend suggested this game to me , and in fact brought it over to show me the gameplay , etc . About two hours in , I was salivating in anticipation of buying my own copy . This is a great game .
It starts off in a sort of typical sci-fi , future-of-space-travel story . Derived from this , when you land on planets of lower technological levels than yours , you must take on the planet's inhabitants ' culture . Think Prime Directive , from Star Trek . No messing up native people with your weird technology . What this means for the game is you occassionally end up using swords , even though guns exist . The game takes a turn away from the fantasy , however , to delve into the realm of existentialism ; interesting territory . Really , the storyline is nice and twisty , intriguing to the last .
The characters are very nicely designed - though some of the voice actors will irritate the snot outta you . And how you play the game influences which characters you can get in your party , and who you can use in the Item Creating Shops . Ah , Item Creation . . . not a necessary thing to master , but certainly fun . And rewarding ; you can create many different items like weapons , armour , food , and the like .
The battle system is most enjoyable ; it may be my favourite system altogether . In the normal screen , enemies are visible units ; you can chose to fight them or avoid them . When you touch an enemy , you go to the battle screen , where you , your allies , and your enemies can move freely about during battle . You can button-mash and kill lower-level monsters , but for others you might need to use Symbology - Star Ocean 3 ' s answer to magic . When you pull up the action menu , battle freezes , which is good because it really sucks when you're trying to set up a spell and some ugly wretch starts mauling you . You can also set up special moves on certain buttons .
It's really kinda neat how pretty much EVERYTHING you do in this game influences later events ; there are many endings , which depend on who you have in your final party , and the relationships between those characters . Choices you make throughout the game change the affection levels of the characters , and thus the ending .
This game has a high replay value , because of the numerous endings , and the wealth of side-quests . In fact , the game doesn't even end after you defeat the final boss ; there is a ' secret ' dungeon you can play afterwards , which is nicely challenging and ends in a fantastic battle ( read : cool boss ) .
So . . . I'd give this game a hearty 10 / 10

Better than final fantasy ( in my opinion )

This is a great game , made all the better by being the first epic non-strategy rpg on the ps2 in quite a while .

Star Ocean is one of the best rpg games around ! when i first heard about it ( from a page inside the ffx - 2 manual ) I thought it would be really cool . !

Well I got this game after finishing the Xenosaga series and was in search of a new , fun RPG game .

The game has excellent graphics ( though sometimes they may look a little off . . . ) and the story is also very good .

For the purposes of pure gaming , I found this game to be ridiculously addictive due to the 380 deg camera-angle availability and great real-time battle system ! ! haha

First off this game had me hooked all the way till I got stuck and put the game down for a week , after that week I started to realize why I didnt like the game . First off the game is very tedious , I'm not a big fan of MMORPG's and the battle system felt very much like one , boring . Second of all the story was great till the second disc and the ending was enough to make me want to throw this game into a trash compactor ! ! ! ! ! the graphics were decent the cut scenes were great , but the fun factor and replay value of this game are equvalant to that of superman 64

yup , you all know it
Anyway , graphics were ok , not that great . I was sort of worried about the characters health , because they're all uber-anorexic . The story was pretty good , until you get to the BIG plot twist which is really really retarted .
Gameplay : I liked the battle mode a lot , although the HP costs were a little excessive when you used a special move .
A big problem was the game went from moderately easy , up until moonbase and then the difficulty level jumps a billion levels . Damn those Angel fairy things and their spinny green move of doom .
The invent item thing is a little stupid . I mean , you dont do anything , and you can't tell what your inventing , or what you've already invented .

Star Ocean isnt as bad as some people say it is , however it does still have its short comings . The battles are really fun if you have patience . I found the fact that I could roam around to be helpful because I could use Nel as my command character and just stand back and heal the party while they fought .
As for the voice acting ? It could have been a little better . But it wasnt horrible . It is true , tho , that Sophia makes you want to kill her whenever she opens up her trap to speak . Other than that Star Ocean is a good game with lots of freedom , lots of things to do , and good music . Its challenging and the bosses are NOT pushovers but if you pace yourself , get some good food , and clear your schedule for a day you will have some serious fun .

Star Ocean : til the end of time , is pretty much the game you expect it to be . futuristic with all those kinds of goodies i.e communicators , space ships , space travels etc . its a pretty good game it starts out with the hero ( of course ) dosing off at a resort hotel , when his friend Sophia comes up and starts to scold him becuase he was too busy playing games to hang out with her . after a pretty weak arguement Fayt agrees to take Sophia around the hotel not the most interesting part of the game . as things progress the planet that they were vacationing on ( Hyda ) suddenly is under attack by the Veendeeni . things happen and Fayts dad is taken on board the enemy vessel.this is when the real story starts and thus he earns his hero title if you will . while the plotof the story is in itself ' unique ' the fighting styles of sum of the characters ( Fayt included ) have much to be desired . while some r pretty good Fayt just frikin swings his swords like a frigin idiot . nontheless the best aspect of the game would be the graphics . and the fact that most of it is a friggin movie you dont have to strain your eyes reading everything . i myself havent finished the game but wat does that tell you .

Stat Ocean : Till The End of Time was my favorite game . Since the visuals and battle systems are good . But the dungeons has the same design which is dissapointing because you could get lost easily if you don't know what your doing .

I agree with drqshadow ( see his review ) and more .

First of all the real reason why they call this game Star Ocean Till The End Of Time is because youll be playing it till the end of time .

There are alot of unhandicap friendly as a person with limited mombility the gme ends for me at about the end of disk one .
There is a puzzle that requires you yo press the circle button at verrying lenths and stretghs i dont know about you but having to spend 5 hours pressing the circle button perfectly or geting killed takes the fun out of a game
but it was fun up until that point

This game was not as good as the second one . since the dungeon designs looked same , the battle system was not that fun . still the story makes up for it and the background visuals .
Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
It seems that Till The End of Time has garnered much praise by reviewers . Why ? I don't know . Star Ocean : TtEoT is the one of the biggest RPG disappointments I've played for the PS2 .
I stumbled upon Star Ocean and fondly remembered the Star Ocean for the SNES , a remarkable adventure , so I picked it up . At the beginning , I was amazed with the game's setting . It takes place in the distant future between federations of planets and insane technology , which you would think would lead to a good story and environments . Unfortunately , I spent 95% of the game in dungeons that seemed to come straight out of Diablo .
Back to the beginning , I noticed one thing immediately : the characters are flat as cardboard . They are complete stereotypes of RPG's , and react the same exact way as their stereotype dictates . Don't expect any character development , you're looking at the wrong game . The game's story and dialogue is altogether amazingly cliche and lame , with the typical selfless teen hero and his girlfriend who hangs with him everywhere who need to save the world from a terrible force . Awfully familiar , isn't it ? If you've ever played an RPG , you've played this game .
What people consider the saving grace of Star Ocean is the battle system . In a nutshell , it's real time and you can switch between your characters as you attack the enemy . Unfortunately , you can't even see all the enemies on the map from one viewpoint , and the other is too far with the camera to properly battle . To add to the problem , the Comp controlled characters are iddiots and require almost nonstop attention to keep them from dying , because dying is permanent until you can get to a heal point .
What really kills the game besides the story , the characters , the somewhat glazed graphics , the stupid AI , and the somewhat unpolished feel is the save system . There are not nearly enough save points . Probably about 2 for the entire game . The dungeons in this game are huge and unmapped , as in YOU explore them and YOU map them out . The dungeouns are huge and littered with enemies . Because of the difficult battles , huge dungeons , lack of save and healing points and unmapped dungeons , I had to run back to town often to save my characters from certain death and to get healing products . If they had just approached this like they did FFX , where the map is clear and linear right in front of you , and there are plenty of save points which also act as healing points , this game wouldn't have been nearly as frusturating , but after dying from the umpteenth time due to no save points , I completely lost interest .
What could have and should have been a great game falls completely flat . Unchanging stereotypical characters , a terrible story , frusturatingly large dungeons and lack of saving / healing points , terrible AI and a general lack of polish relegate Star Ocean to a disgrace , a game not fit to carry its series ' name similar to Final Fantasy 8 or Sword of Mana . I guess I'll have to wait Till the End of Time to play a good RPG .
021 4 this is the hands down best game made for the ps2 . when this game is over , you will have dreams about it for weeks . get the guide with it . you'll need it . the full game is twice as long as the main story . i put in about 200 hours in it .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
So , Star Ocean is a little known RPG series whos only other game in the series to reach the states is Star Ocean : The Second Story . Till the End of Time has a pretty good if kinda lacking storyline which can get kind of confusing but you'll understand it if you stay focused . So anyway , you're a guy named Fayt Leingod who has to flee from an alien force and save his family and friends from these aliens only later realizing that he must soon journey to stop something much greater . The battle system is a nice real-time battle system which can make you or break you depending on how well you learn the basics . Later in the game you get team mates who can assist you in battle and you can also control these team mates and you can let the AI control the other 2 members in your party . However , here is where the problems come from . The AI acts very stupid at times where the AI controlled members will stop moving or start hopping backwards like some kind of strange dance and start running continuously into walls leaving you to fight the battle virtualy alone . Also if you knock one of the guys you're fighting down , you won't be able to hit them while they're on the ground leaving them enough time to get back up and start wailing on you again . Oh yeah , the guys you fight can hit you while you are on the ground which makes things kinda unfair . Another gripe I had with the battles is you have to wait like five or so seconds after you use an item before you can use another one which makes it VERY hard to heal your self quickly if everybody is about to die . And finally , the cinematics are kinda lackluster with not much moving when people are talking except their heads and their mouths which make cinematics seem long and boring . So , with a sudden and non - explanatory beginning , boring cinemas , stupid AI and battles that are unfair Star Ocean : Till the End of Time is a barely good game which seems like a waste of time once you play it for a long while . I'll say stay away and buy something else .
139 4 This isn't THE best RPG I have ever played , but it is definitely up there on my list . Yes , the cut - scenes are long , but no where as near as bad as other reviewers are making it out to be . If you want a game that has VERY long cut - scenes , go and play Xenosaga . Cinematics / cut - scenes in that game can easily last 30 minutes each .

SO3 is an astonishing game . . . .
THE GOOD
- Ridiculusly long ( nearly 200 hours if you play the entrie postgame ) yet never gets repetive .
- Unique battle system , you see enmies , and can engage in a fight with them or try to dodge them
- Invention system , very fun to try and make uber weapons and armor
- Very deep storyline , with a very nice plot twist wich you will either love or hate
- Just plain fun !
THE BAD
- too many characters , you will have to play a few times to choose a good party of 3 and stick with it
- Absurdly long cinematics ( the first 3 hours are watched not played . . . . )
- Invention system involves alot of presing X X X X X X X X ( DOH i missed the right price range ) X X X X X ; . . . . .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Star Ocean is finally here , the game that we've been waiting for and an RPG that sparks a lot of interest in ways unimaginable . Surprisingly enough , the game is fairly addictive with the themes of a good RPG right off the bat , a good story , loveable characters and a grand battle system .
Star Ocean is a more science fiction like RPG . To put it simple , if you like RPGs and Star Trek , I don't need to tell you to get this game , chances are you'll already have it .
Star Ocean begins with Fayt , a boy staying at a hotel resort with his parents and childhood friend Sophia . Everything is going nice and well until the resort is suddenly attacked by starships . Fayt and company end up having to evacuate the resort but ultimately Fayt is separated from those he loves . Now he is stranded on an unknown planet to fend for himself and find his friends . It starts off nice and simple but as the game goes on the story developes more and becomes a bit more complex than it sounds .
Star Ocean is a little different from the traditional RPG . It eliminates random battles and instead you can see all the enemies running around on the field . Each time you touch an enemy you initiate combat and this is where Star Ocean is the most interesting . The other interesting tid-bit is that its all real time battle , and free roaming . When in battle you can run around as one of three characters freely either dodging attacks or blocking them . This makes the game more fun than it actually sounds .
In battle , each character has a Fury gauge . When at 100% the character can attack swiftly without fail , and block certain attacks . The more fury you have the more success you'll have in combat . If your characters fury guage reaches 0 then they can't attack . Luckily , the fury gauge fills up very fast when you stand still . You're also not limited to just one character . You can switch from one character to another any time you wish .
Each character also gets Symbology which is Star Ocean's form of magic . The magic is diverse in terms of how much there is and what they do ( stun enemies , deal wide areas of damage etc . ) . Some skills cost more than others but its an RPG I'm sure you knew this .
Battles are fun but the game is a challenge . Especially bosses which can be unforgiving at times . It's easy to pick up the battle system , but it could take a moment to master . Dungeons are also overly populated with enemies . This wouldn't be so bad if the dungeons weren't so big , and if the number of items you could carry weren't so limited .
Star Ocean also has an inventors system . Each character , playable and non-playable , create inventions based on what they're best at . Some characters are best at cooking and make several different foods . Others are good at smithing and create useful weapons . When an item is invented it becomes available to buy . Some characters will create some pretty useless things but it makes the game bigger .
Star Ocean also features a system in which the characters have a hidden attribute as to how much they like you . Depending on the decisions you make will alter what the characters think of you and will also give you a different ending .
The game looks beautiful . Not quite as good looking as previous PS2 games before it , but those who liked the look and feel of Xenosaga will feel right at home . The games graphics look a little anime style with the big eyes and the multitudes of hair . The game is simply gorgeous .
The game also sounds really good . The voice acting is top-notch for a video game and the character voices go along quite well at times . The overall music isn't bad but takes a while to get used to . Not quite as deep as other games but it suits the situation just fine .
The game has A LOT of dialogue and the cutscenes are long but luckily you can skim though most of it without having to listen to each character word for word . If you read faster than the characters actually speak you might want to just turn off the talking all together . You can also skip cutscenes , but at least the game isn't as drowned out in dialogue as several other games out there ( Xenosaga anyone ? ) .
Star Ocean is a pretty good game overall . It has a few small problems but as far as games go , it stand above many out there . If you're an avid RPGer you might want to get this game and try it out .
The Good
+ Beautiful Graphics
+ Voices are pretty well done
+ Battling is more interactive and fun
+ Good music
+ Good storyline
+ The game will keep you busy for a while
The Bad
- Dungeons are ridiculously huge
- A lot of talking , making the story pace a little slow
- Most of the gameplay is spent leveling up your characters as opposed to actually advancing the storyline

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
It's this :
RPG's and reviewers don't get along . By about this time you've probably read most of the 1 and 2 star reviews on this game and are probably thinking hey ! this game must really suck ! these guys said so ! - well , think again . RPG's are a funny thing - because there's really no set formula for rating an RPG ( or any game if you wanna get technical ) . It's completely based on user-expierence . Like for instance : People complain that Star Oceans battle expierence is too complicated , hard and uneven - Quite the contrary . I found it to be an absolute blast . It made perfect sense , and was not hard at all . Are the enemies to tough ? Well , get tripple EXP battle bonus , spend 20 min destroying enemies , and level up ! Oh hay . . . now the enemies are really easy and its fun ! Gee , that made sense . Does this enemy use status effects ? Oh ! Use an item to cure it . . . hey , I won the battle . Makes sense . Is this boss destroying me ? How come ? Why , its because he does more MP damage then HP . . . okay , just make sure to use MP healing items - tada ! I win . Piece of cake .
Honestly - I'm absolutely baffled that so many people are complaining about the battle difficulty - or the computer controlled AI ( come on , it's not THAT bad . . . ive seen much much worst * cough * Diakatana anyone ? ) . Have these so called RPG players forgotten how RPG's are played ? ! If you suddenly run into hard enemies - You go back to the previous land and level up . Problem solved . Now you move on with the game . This is how its always been and it has never changed . I think the main complaint here about SO3 is that it happens very early in the game - not later on in the game ; like most RPGs ( like the Final Fantasy series , where all the * real * battles happen towards the end of the game ) . So the game is a little harder from the get go . Big deal ? You accept the challenge , patiently go through with it and wait for the moment when the game allows you to battle endlessly throughout the land's and gain massive EXP and level up like crazy . Now you're in complete control of the enemies and the game is much easier .
So you didn't like the storyline , or characters , or art , etc . So what . . . those are all opinions . Just like this review . I actually thought the storyline was decent . Nothing mind blowing , but at the same time , nothing horribally uninspired like some reviewers here are trying to paint it out to be . Yes , the characters are cliched and flat - but guess what . . . FFVII was the same way . Cloud was a moron , Tifa was a big-breasted brunette , Sephiroth was the typical psuedo-goth enemy guy , and Aries was the gentle pretty girl that every japanesse made RPG has - and Barret just yelled alot of non-sense . But a lot of people consider them to be awesome and inspiring characters . Go figure . There all cliched from past games / movies . Theres no point smash-talking a game because of originality - it's practically impossible to find any kind of originality nowadays since everything is borrowed from previous work and ideas . It's the same substance , just wrapped differently .
With that all said - I actually forgot what point I was trying to make ( if any ) . Basically ; it boils down to the old don't judge a book by its cover quote . It's the same for games - ' specially RPG's . If your an RPG fan and is looking for a filler game until the next cliched-ridden FF game comes out - then try this one . I promise you it won't hurt you to ignore all the negative crapola that people say about this game and just give it a try . Take the game for what it is , and its a pretty decent one to add to the list .
006 4 It's this :
013 4 Star Ocean : Till the End of Time ( henceforth known as SOTET ) is a role-playing game where you command the fate of Fayt ( pun intended ) Leingod , a college student from earth in the distant future .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Wow ! This game is awesome from the moment you boot it up . You see an awesome CG showing the history of space from the first satillite launch to where the story takes place in a very futuristic world where we have met aliens and have found other solar systems even . You play as a young man named Fayt , who is getting nagged at by his friend , Sophia , because he was playing video games while she was waiting for him ( does this sound like you , because it sure fits me ) . But in the future gaming is almost like a sport , you can actually get stronger from it ( take that people who think gamers can't stay healthy ) .
After convincing her to join you in a game , your resort is attacked by an unknown enemy and must evacuate immediately .
It is an exciting start and it kept me hooked , so far I'm only about a couple hours into the game , but it is more addictive than anything I have ever played . The storyline is one of the best that I have ever witnessed ( even though I'm only a couple hours into the game ^ _ ^ ) and it makes you want to stay longer and longer .
Okay I could go on and on about how the story's great but then that be no fun for those who are reading this . Your combat is similar to the GC game ' Tales of Symphonia ' where you enter a battle but are forced to play it like a third person action game . You can have partners that can watch their own hide , which is a good thing because I don't like escort missions . Another unique feature is the bonus meter which feels up when you attack the enemies . Once full , you battle and get different rewards , for instance triple EXP or increasing the % of getting a better item .
Pick this game up if you loved Tales of Symphonia or if you like any action game . Personally , I like this game better than the any of the games in the FF series , but that's because this game has an awesome storyline that isn't predictable and it has an awesome battle system .
Pros
- Awesome storyline
- Multiple endings
- Beautiful CG scenes
- Cool Battle system
- The way you communicate with your partners will determine how they think of you in the future
- Music is awesome , although it is weird listening to rock music in some ruins .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
this is the hands down best game made for the ps2 . when this game is over , you will have dreams about it for weeks . get the guide with it . you'll need it . the full game is twice as long as the main story . i put in about 200 hours in it .
047 4 I played both the original Star Ocean , and Star Ocean The Second Story .
053 4 I absolutely love this game ! !

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
This is one of the best RPG games that I have played . Story line is execellent and unlike alot of games what you do in it well affect it at some point ( mainly the endings ) . Character development is decent , similar is some aspects to Legen of Dragoon in that each character has their own set of abilities while at the same similar to the materia in Final Fantasy VII except that when mastered they keep it . It has what you'd expect in any RPG for characters one who's powerful , fast , spell caster , range fighter , and another who you can choose how you want it . It takes a little over 60 hours to beat depending on how complete you are . Graphics are good , playing it on PS3 does enhance them someone what and the game has a 5.1 surround sound option that truly uses the surround sound ( example something coming over head would move from the back speakers to the front speakers ) . Also for those who find the game play to easy or to hard there is 4 levels of gameplay easy , normal , hard , very hard ( in the game they are called earth , galaxy , universe , and another that I won't spoil for those who have never played .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
Star ocean . . . always trying to be as good as Final Fantasy . They tried and they definetely beat FF12 . But this is NOT a final fantasy experience .
What you may notice is that the battle system isn't random . Now this non-random thing is pretty debatable because think of it this way : when it's random every now and then you would have to engage in battle no questions asked . In this game you have bump into your opponents before facing them , however most of the time the enemies are put into positions where it's impossible to get past them so it would make no difference whether or not it was random or noticable .
The battle system within the battles tries to be revolutionary by letting you move the characters close to the enemies and pressing buttons to use commands that you want . Although better than the gambit system in FF12 the only thing that's different to the ATB system is that you have to walk up to the enemies . Not revolutionary but a slight and unnoticable improvement .
The characters have their stories to tell but at points this could be irritating . The cutscenes are very very very very very very long . Some can be up to two hours and can be very tedious as they don't seem to have the RPG cutscene charm as much as other RPG games . But the characters are . . . intersting however you may never use some of the characters .
One of the most addictive parts of the game is the inventing system . Although simple this system allows you to invent , place patents , and become the top inventer as you watch your items being sold in the shop . However you need to pay alot of your money .
Buy this game if you're an RPG fan . . . if not you should buy something else . . . . . . . God of War anyone ?

069 4 So my friend suggested this game to me , and in fact brought it over to show me the gameplay , etc .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
I loved Final Fantasy X and X - 2 . I bought Star Ocean because I wanted something to tide me over until XII .
I'm sorry to say that I couldn't make myself continue to play past the first couple of hours . I enjoyed the introductory visuals ( with the ships changing to progressively more advanced ships ) , but the dialog is tiring and endless . Yes , FFX had that problem at times , but it was still engaging .
Maybe it gets better later on , but for the period of time I played it , it constantly took over and just started talking and talking and talking . That might be nice if the story was engaging , but I was definitely not drawn in . When I played FFX , I was drawn into it from the start . The same is not true of this game .
The combat system is interesting and might well turn out to be fun , but it's not worth it if the story isn't going to improve .
If you enjoy all anime ( even the cheesy stuff ) then maybe you'll find enjoyment here . I didn't .

this gives the player some control over the game story . It is a challenging
game and you will want to re-play it .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
I was completely and utterly disappointed by this game .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
The story line is good , but the emotional aspect of the character's interaction between each other fails to grab me - the timing of people's deaths , the lack of , or almost complete absence of any love story .

I've been playin games all kinds for 17 years i'm 26 now will soon to be and i had to come reviem a few games that have been great games over the years i've played and some people sayin its hard w / e to newbies that r lazy on to figure out how the game goes dont get me wrong i had trouble and the invitin stuff is a like ggggggrrrrrrrr but its so worth playin i've played this game over 10x and still find it fun to play though the story line was in some lackin badly to me changin up on what it wanted to be and end > _ so many questions unanswered but when i finsh i didnt really get mad to tell u the truth just like w / e wasnt carin on the story anyways really i was havin that much fun with this game which i'm all about the story really in all games yeah i'm a FF FAN but i like some fresh stuff every now and then somethin that makes me want to play a game not know the story of it so this game has like a few small flaws that make u go gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrr at first but in the end of gettin the hang of it , its like O_O wow . but any ways people dont jugde be other people rent or borrow it from someone and give it time its time we r rpg GAMERS like in rpg cuz it takes a long time to finish a game which thats what RPG is one thing famous for the play time = p ok thats it laters = D
118 4 yup , you all know it
Anyway , graphics were ok , not that great .
122 4 Star Ocean isnt as bad as some people say it is , however it does still have its short comings .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
To put it simply , this isn't a very good game . As someone who played and thoroughly enjoyed the first two Star Ocean games , I was looking forward to this one . However , this was a complete disappointment .
The story makes almost no sense as very little is clearly explained . I often found myself completely at a loss ; not knowing where to go next in order to advance the plot . Since there is no over-world connecting the various areas , I often found myself lost within the game world as well , having to traverse the same nearly identical areas multiple times until I happened to stumble upon the correct path . This was frustrating to say the least .
The frustration was compounded by the game's nonsensical battle system . If there was an in-game explanation of the battle system , then I somehow missed it because I spent the first ten hours of my play-through unaware that I had the ability to assign and perform special attacks . This lack of knowledge made the game difficulty impossible even on the easiest setting . Not that the game became any easier once I discovered the ins and outs of the battle system . I found myself having to wait in frustration for enemies to complete their knockdown animations before I could attack and the general chaos on screen made it nearly impossible to come up with any kind of coherent battle strategy .
I must also say something about this game's presentation . It is abysmal . The voice-overs range wildly between decent and ear-splittingly bad , with a heavy tendency toward the latter . During cut-scenes , the characters jerk across the screen like limp rag dolls in a manner which is mildly horrifying to watch . The main gameplay graphics are blocky and awkward . This is a very ugly game .
Finally , I can't end this without noting how completely repugnant I find the crafting system . Frankly , it makes no sense to me . Nearly all of the characters have extremely low crafting abilities , meaning that crafting will fail much more often than it will succeed . When it does succeed , you are rewarded with worthless items . Also , there is no way to increase a character's crafting abilities as there was in the previous games . When you factor in the exorbitant cost of item creation and the scarcity of money to be found in the game , item creation is not only a waste of time , it is also a frustrating drain on your resources .
I did not finish this game . I sank nearly 40 hours into it and finally declared that I was done , setting down the controller for ever . For anyone thinking about picking it up , I recommend that you don't . Seriously , just give it a miss .
131 4 To put it simply , this isn't a very good game .
Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
This isn't THE best RPG I have ever played , but it is definitely up there on my list . Yes , the cut - scenes are long , but no where as near as bad as other reviewers are making it out to be . If you want a game that has VERY long cut - scenes , go and play Xenosaga . Cinematics / cut - scenes in that game can easily last 30 minutes each .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
The graphics were great . The battle system was different than most RPGs , but it was ok . The gameplay was pretty good ( like camera angles , manuverability , ect . ) But there were a lot of things I didn't like . The story line started out ok but got really boring and was kinda stupid as it progressed . And the end was terrible . The 30 mins or so it took to watch it could have been much better spent doing ANYTHING else . I also didn't like the method for upgrading weapons . You had to recruit people to make stuff , make certain items and then add it your weapon . But they never made anything all that great for me ( and I spent many hours trying ) . I think this game was a flop .

Star Ocean Till the End of Time ( Video Game )
There is in no arguing that Star Ocean : Til the End of time is a large , long game . In playing it from start to finish , you will definitely get your money's worth as you traverse two disks packed full of content . The question is do you really want to spend time on this game ? The third is a cult console RPG series , Star Ocean 3 isn't a broken game , but in almost every aspect of the game is suffers from serious flaws that , like a big black hole , sucks whatever enjoyment might be had far away into its mysterious depths . It all builds up to make this one of the most awful games I've played this console generation .
In a fifty + hour long RPG , story is a major element . Star Ocean's is bad , very bad . It takes about three hours until you really get going . It begins with a whiny young man named Fayt and his irritating friend Sophia on vacation on some resort planet . Suddenly , an intergalatic army of invaders storm the place looking for Fayt and his father , a famous scientist . Fayt escapes to find himself alone on a backwards planet . He is rescued by a group called Quark , but then the space invaders show up again and Fayt and his new allies are marooned on another backwaters planet , this time involved in a war . The plot is not that interesting , but when you get to disk two along comes a plot twist that is so horrible it just sinks the rest of the story . This plot twist is like something M Night Shamalan would come up with while drunk . On top of the bad plot , there are tons of poorly directed cut scenes . The dialogue is circular and meandering . The game is almost entirely voice acted . Only a few of the voices are really bad , but mostly it sounds uninspired . It all comes together to create an atmosphere that watching Star Ocean is like watching a bad community play .
And then we come to the battle system , the other major aspect of Star Ocean 3 . The main problem with Star Ocean's system is that the ally AI is abominal . Your two computer controlled allies will be little help to you at all as they almost always attack by uncontrollably kamikazing the enemies . They don't dodge at all , so when the big bad monster gets ready to attack , they rush right into its waiting claws . Also , you have a life bar and a magic bar and if one of them reaches zero , the character will die . You have magic attacks and special physical attacks that deplete these bars . Your allies will use them indiscriminately , so its a constant struggle to keep them alive . When you realize that this is actually the directors cut version of the game , it is inexcusable that the programmers could add in alternate costumes for a fighting mini-game but couldn't fix the deplorable AI . Besides the deadweight allies , the difficulty curve for this game is broken . Instead , of getting just a little harder in each new area , Star Ocean 3 throws out any kind of natural progression . Enemies that are simple to defeat will be replaced with enemies that are about five times harder . You'll need to spend hours leveling to stand a decent chance .
Another really awful of the game is its main side quest : item inventing . This thing is trap . It's an impenatrable , costly system meant to seperate you from your money . I tried desperately to figure this system out . I spent tons of game money only to be able to have success inventing the most useless , low grade items around , and then find myself unable to buy more useful items readily available in stores .
If its an RPG you crave , you can find a much better game out there . Star Ocean : Til the End of Time isn't worth your time .

185 4 This product is sold as being for two players . When in fact the only time two players can play is in battle scenes . The rest of the time the other player has no control over the game at all , other then to sit and wait for the main player to get into a fight . There is no disclaimer on the package stating that the two-player mode is only for battle scenes . This is just away to rip off customers who are looking for true two player games . As most everyone knows when you buy a game and take it home then open it , ( IT IS YOUR'S ) no money back because you do not like it or because of shady packaging statements . The company that marketed the game gets their money , the store gets their money and the customer gets ripped off . If I could give less then one star I would have !
The Second Story .
058 4 Whether you're looking for hundreds of the best battles you'll experience in any RPG on the market or to fight for only what's necessary , the options are entirely yours . For some of us , however , the RPG that took almost a generation to arrive proves that it's indeed good enough to last us Till the End of Time .
