036 4 if you're one of the people who bought an original xbox , you all remember the duke controller that it launched with . the size and discomfort of this huge controller led to so much negative feedback that microsoft was forced to redesign it . in light of doing so , microsoft designed one of the best controllers on the market , known as the controller S . not wanting to repeat history , its obvious that microsoft carefully designed the new controller for their latest console , the xbox 360 . to say that the wireless xbox 360 controller is the best i've used is an understatement .
the first thing many gamers will notice is how incredibly light the controller is . in fact , the wireless is LIGHTER than the controller S for the original xbox , even with the battery pack on . the controller is also very comfortable to hold . with the combination of the above , gamers will be able to keep their eyes on the game , and not constantly have to look down at the controller to locate buttons . after some gaming , you almost forget you're even using a controller .
if you've used a controller S before , you'll feel right at home with the xbox 360 wireless . this is essentially the same controller . there are still the 2 analog sticks , the d-pad , the 2 triggers , and of course , the A-X-Y-B buttons . the black and white buttons have both been removed , being replaced by the shoulder bumper buttons , which are on top of the controller . the back and start button are now beside the brand new guide button . the guide button is easily the coolest innnovation on the new controller . players can turn on the console with a single push of the button , among many other features . all of the buttons and both analog sticks feel much more responsive and workable ( for lack of a better term ) vs . the controller S .
the ring of light around the controller is also very cool , because while you're playing , one of the 4 segments lights up to designate players 1 - 4 . before launch , i was confused as to how the wireless controllers would work with no adapters , this is where the console comes in . with one press of a button on the xbox 360 , the console automatically designates which controller will be players 1 - 4 .
performance wise , this controller is flawless . while microsoft says that the controller's range is 30 feet , i tested at > 40ft and the controller still worked flawlessly . while i really don't think anyone will be playing any games from 30 feet away , its nice to know that the signal is so strong . the vibration is excellent on the controller , its strength is also adjustable .
another nice thing for the controller is that the headset port is now on the bottom of the controller , so the wire for it can remain out of your way . if you've played on xbox live with the headset , you know how this could become frustrating .
the battery life is supposebly 40 hours , but depending on how strong you have the vibration set and how far away you are playing , chances are you won't get nearly as many hours between charging .
my only gripes are that the placement of the shoulder buttons can occasionally be mistaken for the triggers , and vice versa . this can be annoying in games like PGR3 , where the trigger is brake , and the shoulder button is used to change the view , and the wrong press of one can lead to frustration . however , once you use the controller more , you get used to them and they shouldn't be a problem .
all in all , this the best controller to launch with a console ever . i strongly recommend picking up some of these , along with some extra battery packs , or the play and charge kits , which allow you to continue using the controller while the console charges it .

But these are amazing .
They feel just as responsive and reliable as any wired controller , and if you really want to , you have the option of hooking them up to your 360 with another accessory ( not included ) later , if you really prefer wired .
Misc . :
The X button in the middle of the controller is used to access the 360 dashboard , not just to turn on / off the console .
If you turn the console off through the dashboard , these controllers will automatically turn off , to save battery power .

It's like the difference between having a typical universal remote for your TV and having a universal remote for your TV with a cord ( yeah , they don't exist with cords but imagine if they did . . . just not quite right ) - or it's like the difference between a infared cordless mouse and a ball-and-chain mouse . My couch is just far enough from my TV so that when I am using a controller with a cord I have to lean over so my cord isn't stretching across the living room . This controller frees me from that , I can just sit back and relax now . It's SO much better . I like how the analog sticks are placed on this controller . When I use the Dualshock now it seems like the analog sticks are much too low . This controller feels perfectly natural .
There is one tiny complaint though . I almost knocked it down to four stars but I just couldn't . I would give this controller a 4.5 / 5 if I could . My complaint is that the analog sticks slip a tiny bit sometimes - which doesn't happen on the Dualshock because the analog sticks on the Dualshock are coated in rubber , as opposed to the plastic analog sticks for this controller . This is only slightly annoying for me in games like Gears Of War where perfect aiming is essential . It's a bit easier for me to aim with the Dualshock controller . Perhaps this is just an issue because I'm so used to the Dualshock . Other people don't seem to have this problem so it's probably just me .

067 4 If you own an xbox , the choice here is fairly obvious . There isn't much to say other than if you don't have a wireless controller already , get one . If you only own a PC however , or play games on your PC as well as your 360 like I do , then things get a little more interesting .
I wholeheartedly recommend using a 360 controller in combination with the Xbox Wireless Receiver for Windows . The range on this thing is great and goes through walls . You can tuck the receiver behind your monitor , under your desk , or in a drawer and you'll get perfect reception . The support for this controller is excellent in all applications I've tried , the drivers are minimal , and the controller even turns itself off after not being used for a while to save battery life . In a Games For Windows title , all buttons automatically work like they would on the 360 , no muss , no fuss . Hitting the Guide button even pops up the Windows Live overlay if you're playing a game that supports it like Fallout 3 or GTA 4 ( normally the Guide button just gives you a summary of your battery life ) .
It is also possible to install a third party profiler app that lets you bind keystrokes and mouse movements to the controller , like XPadder ( free ) . This lets me play a movie on my PC , and then sit on the couch and use the controller play / pause / ff / rewind , etc . I've had zero problems using this controller with xpadder .
If you like emulating old games on your pc ( nes / snes / n64 / etc ) , the large number of buttons lets you map the controller to pretty much any retro console controller you can think of .
As for the merits of the controller itself , there are plenty of reviews here that praise its comfort , feel , and reliability , and revile the D-Pad , so I won't go over any of that .

I had two wireless controllers , and both got a fair amount of use for about two months . The one that came in the box was awesome , and is still good , however I bought a second one , and after many dismal tappings of the center ' X ' button , I've decided it's killed itself . Why ? I don't know . I've kept them in excellent condition , never banging them , away from dust , a seemingly perfect habitat for my little controller . It doesn't work , doesn't turn on , doesn't budge , it is now a 50 dollar paper weight , and after much bickering to Xbox 360 support , I've given up hope on ever getting any money back for it . So , is that consistent with all wireless Xbox 360 controllers ? Maybe not , but being as relatively thrifty as I am I can not tell people how frustrating it is to have blown money on something so seemingly safe , only to get no help from microsoft on getting my money back .
All that said , I do love the controllers . My rating is biased because I just lost one of them , however up until that point they worked flawlessly . Sometimes I would go downstairs to turn on my Xbox 360 only because I could , and the fact that there is no wire makes for easy set down , as well as no messy cords hanging around the console . They fit perfectly into the hand , and getting the Xbox 360 to recognize them is extraordinarily easy . If I hadn't had that one huge complaint , I would have given this controller a 5 , and who knows , maybe I'm the only person in the world who has had this trouble , so there is nothing to worry about . Either way , you gotta have a controller to play , and there is always a chance that it'll mess up , so spending that extra $10.00 more than the wired controller is definetely worht it .

Personally , I like the black version more than the white , but they are exactly the same inside .
When using normal batteries , I could usually play for many hours - around 20 + ( maybe even more , I didn't really count ) . It's recommended using rechargeable batteries , or getting a rechargeable kit .

The 2 pressable sticks make a click noise when they are pressed down , which is an indication for activating their button functionality .
Although the controller feels good in the hand , the plastic makes it look a bit cheap , and scratches can be seen after a long use ( especially on the white one ) .
Vibration is strong , but keep in mind that it eats the battery if used too much .
One thing I really like about the 360 controller is that the two bumpers on top have sensitivity , which means they can be used both as buttons or pedals - great playability in racing / driving games which feels great even if you don't have a wheel . The ps3 has normal buttons instead .

Reliable :
I have never lost connection while using my controller save the one time when I didn't realize the power was running out ( but that's human error ) . I was playing Lost Odyssey , for example , wanted to grind some to bring my characters to a decent level so I went into my kitchen , moving my controller about while cooking dinner . Even through my walls the signal stayed strong .
Long-lasting :
I use a rechargeable back but still the lifetime for the battery is insanely long . I remember when I first bought my system I was surprised because despite the fact I locked myself up in my room for a weekend my battery life only dropped to zero once .
Power Saving :
The most interesting thing about these little guys is that they turn themselves off if they are unused for a long period of time . Playing a game , realize you're running late and rush out ? You don't have to worry about the battery draining because it will auto shut off .
Powerful :
You can definitely feel the rumble in the controller when it's activated . It's an all around great accessory and I have to give credit to Microsoft for building such a reliable controller .

It is a comfortable controller to hold , feeling slightly lighter than the standard controller , though this might just be psychological . It's a good deal pricier than the standard controller , but when i got this and the matching covenant controller out of the packaging and looked at them . . . wow . the gloss , the detail , and the style are remarkable , and the quality makes me unafraid of ruining the finish by using them . that said one of the only weaknesses of this controller is that it looks so good i don't use it unless i have more than two people playing ( since i only have two regular controllers ) .
Additionally , the black finish on the bottom of the controller prevents me from using the nicad batteries i bought for the regular controllers i have , another barrier to me using this or the covenant version as my standard controller .
Of course neither of these are real weaknesses and arise purely as a result of aesthetics . any halo fan will go crazy for these beauties . For me buying the special edition console was not an option , but these suckers are plenty to make me feel secure in my halo fandom .

Having an excellently designed controller is key .
Removing the white / black buttons , so your right hand can rest in a position with your left hand - - both wrapping around the stalks of the controller , was a good decision in my opinion . It might take some people some time to get used to the bumpers . They are placed in a location where you might have previously rested your right and left index fingers when not pulling the trigger .
3rd party wireless controllers for the original xbox SUCKED ! The connection dropped , they would malfunction , or else worked okay but were not rechargable ( Logitech ) . Everything about this 360 controller is right !
254 4 Let it be known , just because a unit is first party and sealed in a clam shell , does not mean it will be top notch . This most recently purchased controller has two major issues . . . both triggers squeak . Not a baby mouse squeak , but a noise audible ( and even feel an increased tension ) over surround sound . Worse yet , the left joystick has a faulty deadzone . If the stick is tapped into the bottom left direction at a certain ( and commonly done ) angle , it will hold there . . . in MW2 for example , causing you to walk backwards and to the left at a very slow speed .
I made this purchase a replacement for a controller I have been using for about 2 years , that still works flawless in all respects other than the right joystick has a larger than normal deadzone which eventually got to me after playing competitively in MW2 . I stayed with my old controller . . .

Cons :
1 ) Using it with your PC depends largely on whether games support the controller or not . It would have been nice if Microsoft released a program to customize the pad for PC use .
2 ) The controller easily collects dirt and grime , but that's probably from over use . It's very visible especially on the white controller but it is also very easy to clean . I think there are also plastic sleeves and covers to avoid this problem . Personally I do not own one of those .

We did buy a used one at a local game store but are replacing it because it was apparently abused as our characters move to the side or the controller moves to the side like it's being pressed when everything checks out fine .

038 4 I have used this controler many times at my neighbors house , and it is basical the same thing as the S-controler , but with the start button moved to the center , and the white and black butttons mooved to the shoulder of the controler . As to the quality of the controllers . . . one was subjected to an English Springer Spaniel trying to use it as a chew toy and survived . Another was dropped on ceramic tile - when one player threw a fit - and showed no signs of damage . All 4 are still going strong months after use . I would definitely recommend going wireless for all families - especially if you have pets or young children running around that can trip on the cords . It's great for storing neatly away and not having to worry about cords being wrapped too tightly or getting tangled up . Amazon did have the best price at our time of purchase . I'm sure it's still the best deal now .

Alright , maybe I had a lemon for a controller , but I can not tell everyone how much rage built in side of me when i saw my 50 dollar controller sitting next to my Xbox 360 , useless .
I had two wireless controllers , and both got a fair amount of use for about two months . The one that came in the box was awesome , and is still good , however I bought a second one , and after many dismal tappings of the center ' X ' button , I've decided it's killed itself . Why ? I don't know . I've kept them in excellent condition , never banging them , away from dust , a seemingly perfect habitat for my little controller . It doesn't work , doesn't turn on , doesn't budge , it is now a 50 dollar paper weight , and after much bickering to Xbox 360 support , I've given up hope on ever getting any money back for it . So , is that consistent with all wireless Xbox 360 controllers ? Maybe not , but being as relatively thrifty as I am I can not tell people how frustrating it is to have blown money on something so seemingly safe , only to get no help from microsoft on getting my money back .
All that said , I do love the controllers . My rating is biased because I just lost one of them , however up until that point they worked flawlessly . Sometimes I would go downstairs to turn on my Xbox 360 only because I could , and the fact that there is no wire makes for easy set down , as well as no messy cords hanging around the console . They fit perfectly into the hand , and getting the Xbox 360 to recognize them is extraordinarily easy . If I hadn't had that one huge complaint , I would have given this controller a 5 , and who knows , maybe I'm the only person in the world who has had this trouble , so there is nothing to worry about . Either way , you gotta have a controller to play , and there is always a chance that it'll mess up , so spending that extra $10.00 more than the wired controller is definetely worht it .

I really feel Microsoft has done a great job with this pad . After the original XBox controller that felt like it was made backwards this one feels great . The buttons are placed right and it fits well in your hands . Generally I would say it's a toss up between the PS3 and 360 control . They both do the job right . The trigger buttons feel placed well and even the analog sticks are in a good place . This paddle also gets excellent range without loosing it's signal . My only qualm is personal . My experience after playing long hours is that right hand gets a little tight from gripping the control pad . I am sure most people feel just fine gripping this pad . Make sure you get a rechargable batterey pack so you don't spend a fortune on batteries . This pad is obviously a must have for anyone with a 360 .

100 4 I like this controller , connects well and feels good in my hand . However , one huge drawback is the battery life . If you have this controller , you pretty much have to get the recharging kit because this sucker kills batteries dead . Both controllers I have used the batteries after about 8 hours of gameplay . My logitech controllers ( I use for Xbox and PS2 ) have used the same batteries for 6 months , and are still going strong . Still , I wouldn't use the wired ones , my friends can pass by without tripping on wires and crap . Just get the charger kit .

I've gamed with almost every gamepad imaginable and never before have I used a controller that is so comfortable and easy to use . The Xbox 360 wireless controller is near flawless . Everything from its button layout to its build quality to its comfort level ; it's all just perfect .
Never before have my hands wrapped around a controller so naturally . Typically with a controller , you have to make your hands form to the controller in order to access all of the buttons , typically resulting in fingers getting jammed into each other uncomfortably or strecthed out across the controller awkwardly . With the 360 controller , my hands just mold into every angle of the design and my fingers effortlessly wrap around the controller's button layout .
The button layout is as follows : Two analog sticks , D-Pad , four face buttons , two triggers , two shoulder buttons , start & back buttons , and the Xbox Guide Button . I'd give the layout and button design a 10 / 10 . Everything is accessible without having to move your hands from the controller and everything has a solid , durable design . The triggers are smooth and glide with the motion of your fingers and are truly perfect . The shoulder buttons work just fine and are easily accessible ( these are where the black and white buttons the from Xbox controller S went ) . The face buttons have great spring to them and don't feel mushy like the Playstation controller . The analog sticks are an 11 / 10 . Compared to the PS controller in which you jam your fingers into each other and trying to correct out the play in the analog sticks , the 360 ' s sticks are awesome ; firm , precise , smooth gliding , and simply perfect . The D-Pad is unchanged from the Xbox controller , which wasn't good to begin with . It works and get the job done , but it could be better . The start and back buttons have moved to the middle of the controller and are better off in the center . And last but not least , the Xbox guide button ( which needs a paragraph of its own ) .
The Xbox guide button is a feature that is running 24 / 7 and is implemented straight into the 360 architecture and games . Even in the middle of a game , you can hit the Xbox guide button and access everything from your gamerscore , friend's lists , messages , music , achievements , game invites , etc . It can even take you back to the dashboard without even having to restart the console or remove the disc . When you're done with the dashboard , you just fire the game back up with even leaving the couch . When you want to turn off individual controllers or even turn off the console , simply hit the guide button . Want to turn on the console ? Just hit the guide button . It's easily the best feature of the controller .
Wireless technology = 10 / 10 Seamless integration with the console and an incredible stable connection with the console , even through walls , doors , etc ; it'll even stay connected through different stories of a house . In over a year's time with the 360 wireless controller , I have NEVER lost my connection with the console . That's right , never . No interference with my wireless network , 2.4 ghz cordless phones , nothing . It is incredible how seamless it is . To connect a controller to a console , turn it on , press the link button on the controller and then the connect button on the console and almost magically , your controller is hooked right up and playing . And once your controller is connected to your console , you never have to link them together again ; the next time you turn on your 360 , the controller is automatically synched with the 360 . If you want to add controllers to your 360 , you simply synch them together with the same method that I just mentioned . Want to use your controller on a different 360 ? Simply synch them together and you're playing . The wireless technology with the 360 and its seamless integration is top-notch . Simply the fact that I will never have to deal with cords again makes the wireless controller more than worth the extra money . But with wireless , you have the issue with charging and batteries . . .
I average about 25 hours per charge with my controller , although intense vibration feedback in games can drop that number down to about 20 hours . I get plenty of charge to last me through a week or two and when I run out of juice , I simply switch out my battery pack with the fresh pack sitting on my quick charge kit . The biggest problem with the wireless controller is the fact that you are literally forced into buying the rechargeable battery pack with the Play & Charge kit or the Quick Charge kit . It's not that big of a deal , but if you think you can get away with AA batteries , this controller will eat them for lunch , especially with rumble . Speaking of rumble , the motors in the 360 controller pack quite a punch and you'll end up paying more in batteries than the mere rechargeable pack costs . Everything from the roar of a machine gun to the light vibration of deflecting a pass to the jolt of a hard impact , everything on-screen is brought to life in your hands with this controller . And no , this isn't the same rumble like the PS2 or Xbox controller . The 360 ' s rumble is more seamlessly integrated into games and serves a much more useful purpose in immersing you within the experience and can create all kinds of varied feedback effects like never before . I'd take this over six degrees of tilt any day .
Overall , this controller is near flawless and hands down the best I have ever used . Comfort , wireless precision , durability ; this controller packs it all into one sleek little controller .
004 4 If you've got an XBox 360 , you really need to get your hand on one or two wireless controllers . These controllers are GREAT for keeping your gaming area free of clutter . To start with , the controller is much smaller than the standard XBox controller was .
For control items , you start with the standard blue X , yellow Y , red B and green A buttons . There are two thumbsticks , one on the upper left and one in the center right . There is also a directional ( d-pad ) in the lower left .
Next , you have a pair of shoulder buttons at the top of the unit , up above the other buttons . You also have a pair of triggers below those shoulder buttons .
Finally , you have a center X button that can be used to turn the console on and off , plus a start and back tiny white buttons on either side of it .
The unit has a rechargeable battery unit inside it , the size of two AA batteries . You have to buy a recharger set SEPARATELY that lets you charge up while you play . In essence you plug the charger into the back of the controller - and the other end into the USB port in the front of the XBox 360 unit . So you play with the controller wired as it charges up . When it's fully charged again , you just pop off the wire and keep playing .
The range of the wireless unit is 30 ' , which is probably much further than anybody is really going to even try playing a game at . The wireless is much easier on your hand - no cable holding you down - plus it's a great help in keeping your gaming area organized . You can easily pass the controller from person to person , and visitors can come and go without tripping over wires .
The documentation says you can get 40 hours of gameplay between charges , but if you have features such as vibration on , that sucks the time down to maybe 8 - 10 hours . It's up to you of course - I personally like having vibration on because it is often important for gameplay to get those warning signals .
Still , even if I have to plug the cables in every 10 hours or so to give it a juice boost , I still love wireless ! ! Highly recommended .

I just bought my 360 and ordered an extra wireless controller on another site ( cheaper with free shipping too ! ) and I love them so far ! They never lose connection and they are nice to hold . No wires holding you down either !
My only gripe about these are that they don't come with a rechargable battery ! Why make a next generation system and have the state of the art wireless controllers run on AA s ? ? ? Ohh wait ! We can charge an extra 12 bucks to sell battery packs and another 30 for a recharging kit !
Other than that they are great ! I saved the money on the recharging cable and bought the recharging dock that comes with 1 battery pack and I bought 3 other battery packs so I'd always have wireless with no wires ! Thats the way to go !

The one thing that I absolutely love about this console generation is that the three companies have finally evolved past wires . The days of having a chord plugged into your consoles are long gone , and I'm glad . So many times when I was younger , I recall playing video games and having someone trip over the chord because they were in a hurry to get by . This usually resulted in the console falling to the floor due to the force in which the control chord was pulled during the process . Now , none of my consoles have ever fallen onto the floor since no one can ever trip over the chords .
The Xbox 360 controller is great and feels extremely comfortable . The two analog sticks have a nice grip to them , and the shoulder buttons are easy to access due to the curvature of the back of the controller . The controller's curves make it easily fit the shape of the player's hands , and the positioning of the battery cover is out of the way yet still also gives your fingers something to rest on providing extra grip . The four face buttons are a nice size , and the even spacing between them allows for quick hit and release and transition from one button to the next . This is very beneficial in games that require large combos where the button range is widely varied .
The center Xbox button allows you to quickly access the dashboard . Once on the dashboard you can either sign in / out , load music , turn off the controller , turn off the system , and tons of other extra features . The controller runs off of AA batteries . A complaint that many have against the controller . However , I find this to be a major plus for the controller . Simply purchase rechargeable AA batteries for under 20 dollars and you won't have to worry about constantly throwing away batteries . Since the controller does not feature a built in battery , this also means that you don't have to worry about taking the controller about to change the battery once it no longer holds a charge . Instead , a simple change in rechargeable batteries and you're good to game again .
The d-pad is rather awkward , and its design is my only complaint against the controller . The d-pad is built exactly like the one found on the Sega Genesis . The Genesis had a bad d-pad and this also reflects on the 360 . In fighting games especially is when you notice just how bad the directional buttons on the pad are . In Street Fighter , for example , Ryu's special move is done by pressing down , down-forward , forward + Punch . On the 360 d-pad , it sometimes mistakes the down for a down-forward , and the forward sometimes even for an up-forward . This is the only problem with the controller , otherwise it is very stellar , very durable , very reliable , and free of all chords . You can't go wrong with this controller , and you can't go wrong with choosing it any color either , I chose the black due to personal preference .

The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller is probably one of the most comfortable conventional controllers on any console . It's the perfect size and fits great in your hands . The controller uses RF technology , so no more cords going to your system . It takes 2 AAs and has around a 40 hour battery life . The 2 analog sticks are very easy to use and are covered with a grippy rubber . The triggers have a nice spring to them and are very responsive . The controller also has a nice , strong vibration function that is used in many games . One thing I did not like about the controller is the D-pad . It did not feel clicky at all and is very inaccurate , which is a shame because this affects 2D fighters very much . Overall I'd highly recommend the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller , it is only $10 more then the Wired version and has no cords !

I felt their official battery pack needed to be charged too often . So I went with my preffered brand of rechargeable batteries and I've never looked back . Just in case you're wondering what I decided to use , I use Rayovac 15 minute rechargeables . I keep an extra pair of regular Alkaline AA batteries for when I need to charge them . Still have the original pair of Alkaline AAs that I started with too . ; P
PROS :
1 . It's wireless .
2 . Can easily last up to 20 hours before needing a new pair of batteries .
3 . You can walk around and get something from the fridge without setting down the controller so you can also continue talking to friends if you're online .

I have used this controler many times at my neighbors house , and it is basical the same thing as the S-controler , but with the start button moved to the center , and the white and black butttons mooved to the shoulder of the controler . This is a very comfortable controler and has great wireless range and the controllers precision is Phenomenal from the pressure sensitive triggers to the joysticks there flawles in my mind .

When I upgraded to the 360 I was a bit saddened that I would not be able to use my controller with a built in fan , but these wireless controllers are amazing .
First , wireless . No tangling , no mess , toss your controller wherever , pick it up , walk around , sounds a bit unnessacary , but it is definatly nice to have .
Also , the middle x button of these new controllers is amazing also ( although , I'm sure they're on the wired controllers ) quick access to your music , friends , and dashboard in game . Plus , turn off the controller or the whole console from the comfort of your couch .

If you own an xbox , the choice here is fairly obvious . There isn't much to say other than if you don't have a wireless controller already , get one . If you only own a PC however , or play games on your PC as well as your 360 like I do , then things get a little more interesting .
I wholeheartedly recommend using a 360 controller in combination with the Xbox Wireless Receiver for Windows . The range on this thing is great and goes through walls . You can tuck the receiver behind your monitor , under your desk , or in a drawer and you'll get perfect reception . The support for this controller is excellent in all applications I've tried , the drivers are minimal , and the controller even turns itself off after not being used for a while to save battery life . In a Games For Windows title , all buttons automatically work like they would on the 360 , no muss , no fuss . Hitting the Guide button even pops up the Windows Live overlay if you're playing a game that supports it like Fallout 3 or GTA 4 ( normally the Guide button just gives you a summary of your battery life ) .

So I went and bought me my own , in PINK even ! He knows it is mine and he would not be caught dead using it . So I don't have to worry about him draining my batteries , haha .

I have a white controller and two black ones . I don't know why but , the left joy stick on both of the black ones began to give a little after only a week of use . If you playing a game like halo , and your just walking like normal , as soon as you let go of the left joystick , it continues to slowly move forward without the user even pushing it forward . Both my black ones do it , I don't know why but , the white one works fine and I've had it for over 6 months . I would just buy a white one .

Ok , so this is basically just the white controller painted black . To be honest , the white controllers don't look too bad , its the white console that looks terrible . But that is my opinion . On to the facts . The black controller is almost exactly the same , but part of the grip is more matte than the white one . The white controller always makes me sweat for some reason because it is too smooth . These look great however . The colors are well matched even though it may not look like it in the pictures . I'd definitely recommend picking these up if you have an elite , or if you have core / premium and you want the black ones so the grime doesn't show as much , I'd highly recommend these .

So these look great , they are quality controllers , but there is one hitch . I bought two and have used them as my primary controllers for about a month now . Both of them shut off if they lose contact with the batteries , meaning that if they get shaken real hard or you drop the controller , or if the controller is just feeling a little moody , it shuts itself off . Usually if i take the batteries out and just plug them right back in the problem goes away for the rest of the gaming session . When it does happen its usually only once every time I turn my xbox 360 on ( so like once a day ) , not really enough to impact game play , but its there . I still recommend these controllers .

The stock Xbox 360 Pro wireless controllers are white , and you only get a black one with the more expensive Elite model . So being able to get black controllers for our Pro model seems like an upgrade . And the black doesn't show the wear and dirt as much , either ! Very happy with these .

I have had SERIOUS problems with wireless controllers on previous generation consoles . Let's be serious , the wireless controllers for the gamecube , PS2 and original xbox were HORRIBLE . You had to stand within like 10 feet of the TV , and if someone turned on a radio in the house , your controller would not respond . I have no such problems w / the 360 ' s wireless controller . This one works GREAT ! I got mine with the 360 premium package , and I plan on buying another one soon . I love the format of the new 360 controler with the Xbox button in the center . The controller turns off after like 30 min of not using ( during movies etc ) but you can turn it on again by just pushing the button . The console responds just as fast to the wireless controller as the wired one . Microsoft has definetly created the greatest game controller ever built . I definetly do not see myself going back to a wired controller any time soon . There is no reason why a 360 owner should not have this ! ! !

There is nothing more enoying then being restricted by the length of a wire attaching your controller to the console . And then when you are connected , watch your family trip over the wire and disconnect you right when you are completing that tough level . None of that with this awesome Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless controller . Batteries seem to last forever and the initial setup was a breeze .
Xbox 360 Wireless Halo 3 Spartan Controller ( Accessory )
This will be a very truncated review as this controller is identical in most regards to the standard xbox 360 controller . Look for reviews of that product if you need to know basic information about the controller .
It is a comfortable controller to hold , feeling slightly lighter than the standard controller , though this might just be psychological . It's a good deal pricier than the standard controller , but when i got this and the matching covenant controller out of the packaging and looked at them . . . wow . the gloss , the detail , and the style are remarkable , and the quality makes me unafraid of ruining the finish by using them . that said one of the only weaknesses of this controller is that it looks so good i don't use it unless i have more than two people playing ( since i only have two regular controllers ) .
Additionally , the black finish on the bottom of the controller prevents me from using the nicad batteries i bought for the regular controllers i have , another barrier to me using this or the covenant version as my standard controller .
Of course neither of these are real weaknesses and arise purely as a result of aesthetics . any halo fan will go crazy for these beauties . For me buying the special edition console was not an option , but these suckers are plenty to make me feel secure in my halo fandom .

Well , seeing as though I'm a Halo fan , and was pretty disappointed in the Halo 3 Edition 360 , because of it looking pretty plain , I decided to get this instead , really I think it was worth it if you're a Halo fan , the design I think is great , and the figurine , small , but very detailed . I waited on a review to make sure that the wireless controllers all functioned properly , held their charge and could be played at all angles / distances up to 30ft from the TV and then some . It's great for storing neatly away and not having to worry about cords being wrapped too tightly or getting tangled up . Amazon did have the best price at our time of purchase . I didn't need another controller , but I bought this one anyways . It came with a figureine and it is a piece of artwork in itself . I play with it , but after I get my gamestop exclusive missle case in the mail , I might just leave it in there permanantly on display . I like this controller , connects well and feels good in my hand . However , one huge drawback is the battery life . If you have this controller , you pretty much have to get the recharging kit because this sucker kills batteries dead . Both controllers I have used the batteries after about 8 hours of gameplay . My logitech controllers ( I use for Xbox and PS2 ) have used the same batteries for 6 months , and are still going strong . Still , I wouldn't use the wired ones , my friends can pass by without tripping on wires and crap . Just get the charger kit .

It's a good deal pricier than the standard controller , but when i got this and the matching covenant controller out of the packaging and looked at them . . . wow . the gloss , the detail , and the style are remarkable , and the quality makes me unafraid of ruining the finish by using them . that said one of the only weaknesses of this controller is that it looks so good i don't use it unless i have more than two people playing ( since i only have two regular controllers ) .
Additionally , the black finish on the bottom of the controller prevents me from using the nicad batteries i bought for the regular controllers i have , another barrier to me using this or the covenant version as my standard controller .
Of course neither of these are real weaknesses and arise purely as a result of aesthetics . any halo fan will go crazy for these beauties . For me buying the special edition console was not an option , but these suckers are plenty to make me feel secure in my halo fandom .

One of the best controller . I used to like the Logitech wireless for my old xbox but when I tried this wireless for my new X360 , this is a must have . You can turn your 360 on and off remotely , how cool is that . Nice weight and feel in your hands , very accurate and very little to none lag time . What can I say ? You get a great feeling controller and on top of that it's wireless ! There is nothing more enoying then being restricted by the length of a wire attaching your controller to the console . And then when you are connected , watch your family trip over the wire and disconnect you right when you are completing that tough level . Based on the old , excellently performing Xbox S-controller with added bumpers in place of black / white buttons . Thankfully they dumped the large Duke controller altogether . This controller can turn on / off the 360 remotely , act as a remote , works on a PC , connects to a headset , etc . . . It rumbles - - the $600 PS3 doesn't . It connects FLAWLESSLY . Never fails to connect and the connection never drops , ever , even though it's wireless . Battery life is extremely LONG - you'll be able to use the thing forever without recharging . Attachements exist for charge & play , Accessories for quick charge . Options for regular or rechargable batteries .
Having an excellently designed controller is key .
Removing the white / black buttons , so your right hand can rest in a position with your left hand - - both wrapping around the stalks of the controller , was a good decision in my opinion . It might take some people some time to get used to the bumpers . They are placed in a location where you might have previously rested your right and left index fingers when not pulling the trigger .
3rd party wireless controllers for the original xbox SUCKED ! The connection dropped , they would malfunction , or else worked okay but were not rechargable ( Logitech ) . Everything about this 360 controller is right !

The controller is fine , but I cant use the plug and charge kit . Yes , its the one by microsoft for the xbox360 . It only works for my original white controller . So what I have to do is take the battery out at the end of the day put it back in my old controller charge it and put it back to the halo controller after its charged . So I guess its fine if you dont use that kit otherwise its kind of a hassle .
