Pokemon Emerald Version

  • - Great gameplay . Yeah , the engine is a bit tired , but it still chugs along . I particularly enjoy the fact that it is easier to catch weak Pokemon in the wild with a special Pokeball . - Good graphics . Although not the best the DS has to offer , with all the other data stored in there , they aren't bad . - Wi-fi is nice . I have yet to experience any problems with connections or whatnot . It is annoying that some people will cheat you online ( with hacked Pokemon , e.g . ) , but what can you do ? - National Pokedex . Come one . When they say you can now collect 493 ( ! ) different Pokemon , how can you not resist ? BAD : - legendary pokemon . There's not much legendary about them anymore . I mean , there are around 13 new legendaries introduced in this very game . Moreover , many cannot be obtained except via Nintendo events , most of which have yet to grace our fair shores ( yeah , I know there was a Manaphy event - of course , you can get that Pokemon in other ways ) . This has always been an annoyance of mine , but it's particularly bad now . There are three Pokemon that simply aren't ( legitimately ) available at the moment , and another three which require the purchase of other games . The REAL annoyance is that there is no reason for this whatsoever - with a Wi-fi option , Nintendo could make their events available to the public at large . But whatever - Nintendo has always been annoying this way , and it won't change any time soon . - Underground . Do I really have to mine the walls for hours to find certain fossils ? Does my base really have a bunch of rocks in it that can only be moved if I find another person's base ? Does anyone really have time for this ? A complete dud . - Pal-Park . Later in the game , one gets the opportunity to migrate Pokemon from older games to their pal-park . This was a great idea . Why , then , do I have to be bothered by its mechanics ? Only six Pokemon can be migrated each day , and then I have to go through a minigame to catch them . Just let me upload them to the PC , for crying out loud ! The last two BAD remarks are somewhat nitpicky , but the first is getting outrageous . When it was only one Pokemon , it was reasonable . But Nintendo has turned their clever little satire about obsessives into a mass-marketing campaign . . . geared ONLY for fanboys . I'm pretty sure that we NEVER got the chance to get Mew in the GBA games , and that's annoying . Hopefully , Nintendo will use their Wi-fi to make events more public , I ain't holding my breath . And thus , I knock the game one star .
    • 015 4  The Pokemon series has always appealed to the obsessive in me . Indeed , who can resist a good chase , or the opportunity to collect literally hundreds of Pokemon . Of course , the old games pretty much required that you have a friend to play alongside you , and as I got older , it became more difficult to find people willing to devote a similar amount of effort into the game . Now , however , with the Nintendo Wi-Fi option , all of that is a thing of the past. Now , one can trade for Pokemon around the country , or even the world . Thus , after a 6 - year layoff , I decided to pick up Pokemon Diamond ( which gave me an excuse to finally get the DS , which incidentally is 1000x better than the PSP that merely takes up desk space in my room ) . And yeah , the obsessive reared its ugly head immediately , as I then bought Pokemon Fire Red , Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Ranger . But ahem , back to the game at hand . Pokemon is excellent . Although formulaic , it's always been a fantastically deep RPG experience , even without the postgame collection madness . I won't detail the plot , as it has been beaten to death in these reviews . Instead , let's move immediately to the good and bad here . GOOD : - Great gameplay . • 035 4  My 10 yr old had been pretty much playing with his PSP for the last year , and had relegated the GBA to storage . Word of this game , and trying a hand at it at summer camp , made him dig out the GBA and order this game . He has played it for probably 15 hours , and is nearly done with all the levels ( I think 2 to go ) . He has had lots of help from friends , and that has helped get him over the frustrating ( several ) parts he can't figure out on his own . Overall , a bit less aggrevation than some of the PSP games he's tried ( most of which are geared to older teens + ) . Highly recommend , based on what I've seen and heard from him ( and no , he didn't get sapphire or ruby ) . ADDED NOTE : DO NOT allow your young child to try any of the cheats downloaded online ! ! ! My son tried one that I believe was maliciously placed on a website by someone ( which asked the user to turn the game off in the middle of a save ) and which DELETED his entire game save , which was almost the entire completed game except the last level . He was so crushed , he quite playing it and refuses to play it again , because he had almost finished the game . I called several Gamestops , and even Nintendo Cust Svc ( open late 7 days a week ) and spoke with a game specialist who said this is a common problem , and there is NO cure . . . use cheats at your own risk . All of the half-dozen Gamestop employees I spoke to had this happen to them when they were a bit younger , and said they wouldn't do it again . Lesson learned !
    • 055 4  I'm hoping to buy poke'mon Emerald and NO I DON'T CARE THAT IT IS A REMAKE OF R / S ! I find it rather stupid that there is no way you can catch Celebi ! So u listen to me , MAKE A WAY TO CATCH CELEBI OR I WILL GO MAD ! ! !

    • 171 4  Why is it that I don't mind this game being very similar to Gold / Silver Generation and Red / Blue Generation ? The answer is that tradition carries on . This game has everything ( and more ) that the other games had . A journey , more pokemon in the pokedex , A rival that will always seem better than you until you own them the first time , and then the legendaries . I also like the introductory towards berries . Berries are just another way of expanding your backpack , which is why I was glad they introduced blocking , or categorizing the backpack so farther in the journey , you won't have to remove a single thing every time you find something on the floor that says you can't carry it Anyways , this game is the same as all the other great ones plus more . I recommend this game . I love it , 5 out of 5 .
    • 177 4  After PKMN Ruby my faith in the franchise was revitalized due to the games heavy level of fun and replay and moreover , fixing the vast mistakes PKMN G / S / C made and went back to what made Pokemon so great . And well , despite the hype around FR / LG Hoenn still proved to be the most creative of the four regions . While R / S had a lot after main game while Emerald . . . There's just so much for the single player to do ! I mean , 1 . the story was a huge improvement over R / S by having both teams ( Magma and Aqua ) to combat , having two of the coolest box art legendaries duke it out as per their rivalry alluded in the previous games . This leads to : 2 . Giving Rayquaza an importance ( another cool legendary ) to the game outside being some post-game ' mon to catch . 3 . Upgraded difficulty . May not say much for some , but if you started from scratch and chose to lack a certain team balance like I did , the Pokemon change-ups and slightly smarter AI would really throw you off and give you a bit more of a fight . 4 . Most important reason of all : VERY HIGH REPLAY VALUE . And compared to previous gens , R / S already beat them out from the start . But Emerald throwing in Gym Leader rematches ( how long have we been begging for that ) , giving Berries more purpose , upgrading Breeding , giving us the ability to explore extra areas so we DON'T HAVE TO trade to get both fossils and certain Pokes AND Battle Frontier ( Battle Factory , I'll finish you yet ! ) alongside some other fun side things , Emerald has got to be the most rewarding ( and battle centric ) single player game within the Pokemon main games . Love that game and I'm still playing it . If you're shaky by D / Ps lack of single player goods due to its heavy emphasis on Wifi / horrid online community or just wanna play alone ( and it has to be a game from the Pokemon main series ) then Emerald is your bet !
    • 219 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This game is OK , but I just looked at the new price tag : $94.98 ? DON'T BUY THIS GAME AT THAT HIGH A PRICE . It's not worth almost a hundred dollars . Christ . . .
    • 267 4  This game is great ! At first I didnt know what to do but I found out it was kinda easy at first and got harder . BAD CON - You need to have a GBA system or you can't trade and get all the pokemon ( i have a nintendo DS ) .

  • 1 . Same old thing . What I mean by this is , although the story has it's differences from other games , it's still basically the same idea . You get to pick your first pokemon from : Turtwig ( a grass type ) , Chimchar ( a fire type ) , and Piplup ( a water type ) . Once you pick your first pokemon in a setup somewhat similar to the Ruby , Sapphire , and Emerald versions , you are off on a journey to basically be both the ultimate trainer , and the contest master . You will meet a new , psychotic evil team , who has the wrong ideas about the pokemon world and such . There is also the same goal of beating the elite four , and the return of that tedious training you must do to get past the gym leaders . All I am saying , is this game will probably be a newer experience to those who are just getting to know pokemon . 2 . It seems like the Pokemon company are starting to get low on ideas . First off , long time pokemon gamers may notice they haven't introduced as many new pokemon as they did in Gold , Silver , and Crystal . What's more , they even started intertwining old pokemon into the new games , just giving them different index numbers . Of course , it's hard not to include the old pokemon when many of the new ones are either pre-evolutionary forms , or even evolved forms of them . Cute and cool , but may not cut the mustard . Now don't get me wrong , there are some cool new pokemon ( Piplup , for example , has become very popular among pokemon fans ) . All I am saying is , the game designers seem to be digging in the bottom of the barrel . 3 . The secret base system just isn't as good . Now , I love the Underground ! The prospect of digging for fossils , heart scales , and other rare items appeals to me ; but who here has played the Ruby , Sapphire , and Emerald versions ? In those versions , you can have secret bases in trees , in rock walls , and even in bushes , in any desirable route . This game , not so much . You have to have to create your base somewhere in the Underground . Now , that may not be too bad for some , as you can create it wherever you want , provided you have the drilling tool . BUT WHY DO THE STUPID ROCKS HAVE TO BE THERE ? ! This is what really stinks ; you can't move the rocks unless you capture someone elses flag . I think in order to do that , you have to have Wi-Fi connection , and infiltrate somebody else's base to get their flag . I have dial-up ( because high speed can get expensive ) , and have heard Wi-Fi will not work with it , so I'm out of luck . I'm stuck with the dumb unmovable rocks ( that are always in the way ) , in a base that looks like everyone elses ( except maybe with different decorations ) , that lacks variety in landscaping . 4 . The Poketch ( Another awkward name , but it stands for pokemon watch ) could use a bit more work . It's good if you only have a few things you can access from it . However , when you get more things , you basically have to start tapping the screen like crazy to get what you want . All I'm saying is a quick selection feature would have been nice . 5 . Another annoying rival . Long time pokemon gamers will know the type . Pesky , bothering you at the wrong times , always beats you to the gymleaders even if it seems impossible that he did so , picks the starter that beats yours in type and boasts about it , and is supposedly a long time friend of yours . Yeah , very irritating . 6 . Getting the national pokedex is a bit of a pain . Until you get it , you cannot rely on help from stronger pokemon in a couple of the older versions either . The Good : 1 . Waaay more life-like ! This game is the most three dimensional of the pokemon hand-held games I have ever seen ! This makes it more life-like in some areas , as it makes you feel you're actually on the ground rather than in a hot air ballon , or something in the air , looking down on everything . 2 . Time is more realistic . This could also weave in with more life-like . Rather than change instantly from day to night or vice versa at six , like in Gold Silver , and Crystal , or not at all ( like the other pokemon games ) , Pokemon Diamond actually has day phases . There is morning , afternoon , dusk , evening , and even late night ! Gameplay is good no matter what time you play ! The game also acknowledges days of the week ( example : Drifloon comes to the windworks factory on Friday ) , though maybe that isn't used as much as it was in Gold , Silver , and Crystal . All the same , it is a better and well-developed system . 3 . They brought back the night guards ! It brings back fond memories of Gold , Silver , and Crystal , to have police men who will only fight you at night . . . 4 . The gyms are better than ever ! Maybe a tad harder than I like , but the traps and stuff don't have a deja vu feel to them . It's a totally new experience ! 5 . The Underground is awesome ! I enjoy digging up rare items and spheres ! The only thing I wish to warn is : don't dig to many spheres in the ground ! The older spheres will start disappearing if you bury too many spheres . 6 . The contests have come back with a vengance ! Do you know those old contests in Ruby , Sapphire , and Emerald ? You feed your pokemon pokeblocks in hopes the audience will like how it looks , then you try to outshine the others with moves in a period of four turns on a single judge . Well , that kind of contest is now the thing of the past ! First off , instead of pokeblocks , players must feed their pokemon a food called poffin . It's made of berrys still , but in a different way that uses the stylus . It's like you cook your pokemon's food now . Then there's the dancing , the accessory and poffin accented physical appeal , and rather than one , THREE judges you can appeal to ! Contests are now more difficult , fun , and entertaining ! 7 . More trainer card features ! You can actually sign your name in your own handwriting using the stylus on the back of your trainer's card ! You can also shine your badges , which do get dull ! I thought these were interesting and entertaining tidbits of the game . 8 . The poketch is cool ! Yes , I complained about it not having a quick select feature in the bad ; but regardless , this thing is still very cool and useful in the game ! Hidden item ? Throw away the item finder and use your dowsing app ! Forgot where you plant a berry ? Find the locations of pickable berrys with the berry finding app ( that may not be what it's really called ) . Chances are , if there's a feature you want your poketch to do , you will find it eventually . 9 . The new pokemon are cool . There aren't really enough new ones , and the ideas seem to be a bit . . . lacking in a couple of areas ; but still , the new abilities , moves , and pokemon make for new and exciting gameplay . 10 . I believe there are a lot of legendaries . This means more rare pokemon for you ( and a good deal of them are cute ! ) 11 . This game is more people friendly . Quite often , you will team up with a character in the game who will heal your pokemon after each battle , and offer his or her pokemon for assistance in double battling format . This is a great opportunity to learn to work with the pokemon that are not yours . The only drawback , is that you will meet two wild pokemon at once . If there is one you want , you can't catch it until you defeat the other pokemon . In addition , your partner will attack every turn not knowing to let up . On these facts , it is better to try and catch pokemon alone . 12 . Animations are included , and there are many good details . This time there are differences between male and female pokemon other than the symbol . These differences are slight and difficult to tell , but it is good attention to detail . On top of that , pokemon animations are included ( example : Starly flaps its wings when you see it ) . Another new good detail is being able to tell how much a pokemon weighs against yourself . 13 . Taking care of berries is easier and more realistic ! Don't recall when you last watered that berry in Ruby , Sapphire , or Emerald ? Well , now you can tell ! The soil actually changes to a light color when the berry plant hasn't been watered , so you know when to water it ! The only challenge that remains is being able to water it several times a day . . . So , that about raps it up . Overall , this is an awesome game beyond belief ! If you want hours of entertainment , love pokemon , or even just enjoy playing videogames in general , then this is one of the best games you can buy out there .
    • 002 4  After countless spin offs the real deal is here : Pokemon Diamond and Pearl . The Pokemon craze has been around for years . Ever since the Red and Blue versions hit way back , Pokemon has been huge . It's tried and true formula has worked for over ten years , and it's pretty apparent that the formula isn't going to die now . Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are a lot like the Pokemon games that preceded it , but they've really thrown in some good touches here . Still , most players who've been playing since the Gameboy days , or even as recent as the GBA days will still get a been there , done that , feeling . Still , the game is good , addictive and it will keep you busy for hours on end . As I said , Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have a been there , done that kind of feel . You begin as a rookie trainer in a village , and under some circumstances , you are asked by a professor to go and collect Pokemon data using a Pokedex . On your journey your goal is to collect as many Pokemon as you can and train them to take on other trainers , and to get all the badges from the games various gym leaders , while you've got a rival who is out doing to same thing to prove he's better than you . In addition , there's an evil organization called Team Galactic that has plans for a new world order and to do that they need all the Pokemon they can get . If all this sounds familiar , that's because it is ! It's the exact same formula that worked for the original Pokemon games on the Gameboy , the games on the Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance . The story , of course , is simple and charming , but where Pokemon has always managed to shine most is it's fantastic and addictive gameplay . Pokemon is actually really strategic and in-depth . That is to say , it requires a lot of thought , and believe me , some of these battles ( especially against the new Pokemon that are introduced in this version ) require a lot of your skill . Battles are turn based , where you select a command and then watch a round of combat . There's a paper / rock / scissors effect here , however . Each and every Pokemon has a type , and some of the attacks they use reflect its type . This makes up what deals massive damage , what deals no damage and what deals just normal damage . Grass may be strong against water , for example but grass is also weak against fire , but in turn , fire is weak versus water . This effect plays through with seventeen and different types , and there is no best type because every type has a weakness . It's because of this element that Pokemon is so much fun to play . Just trying to construct the perfect team will take you more than a day , and with over 100 new creatures to collect , you can form endless amounts of teams . Just catching all the Pokemon alone will keep you busy for well over 50 hours . To add to the effect you'll face several other trainers as well , and you never know what they'll throw at you . Your strongest Pokemon may very well become your weakest in certain battles just because of its type . The battle system itself is made even simplar by the touch screen . Where as before you were scrolling through menus , battling can simply be done by touching the different options on screen . It makes battling a lot faster , especially because the icons are pretty big . Luckily , there's never really a point where you have to use the touch screen if you don't want to , and battling can still be done the old fashioned way if you so choose . As with Ruby and Sapphire there are also moments of two on two battles . Usually they come with either two trainers taking you on at a time , and you'll send out the two Pokemon in your top roster , or you'll be with another trainer who will send out his or her Pokemon with yours . It adds to the strategic feel of the game , but the moments of two on two battles are pretty few and far between . In your journey you'll also receive a nifty watch that works based off the time of your internal clock . This means that much like Gold and Silver , it'll switch between day and night . Some Pokemon come out only in the early morning , others come out late at night . Some Pokemon only come out on certain days . Either way , those itching to catch each and every Pokemon will enjoy this aspect of it . As I said before , Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have added some new things . The most important new thing however , is how much easier it is to trade Pokemon and battle with your friends . Using Wi-fi on the DS is far better than the various link cables or having to go out and buy the wireless adapter for the GBA . You can battle with people all across the world , and do other things as well , such as trade with them . Of course , in order to enjoy the full benefits of this you'll need the friend code to do it , and sometimes . In order to get the full experience of the online gaming world in Pokemon , you'll need to register friend codes . If you don't you can't enjoy some of the better perks , like being able to talk to a friend using the microphone of your DS as you battle . Still , the combat is enhanced greatly when playing online . If you don't want to play online you can easily connect to another DS and battle it out that way with your friend simply sitting in the room . Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are also full of little secret goodies . There are the legendary Pokemon , Pokemon contests , and of course , even after you've finished the main story there's more to be done . You can transfer Pokemon from your GBA versions by sticking it into the GBA slot of the DS . No matter how you slice it , Pokemon can easily keep you busy longer than several RPGs combined I wish I could say the graphics and sound are absolutely amazing , but they're really not . For as much fun as this game is , it's certainly not the best as far as graphics go . The same goes for the sound as well . Pokemon has never really been a game you go after for eye-candy , though . There are some moments where some 3D effects come out , but not very many . The sprites are more or less the same sprites they've been using since the Red and Blue versions . Ideally , the game doesn't look all that much of a step up from Ruby and Sapphire , and they were not fantastic looking games either . It's really colorful , but the DS is capable of so much more than this . Likewise , in battle is still as horrible as ever . Fun to do it , but the Pokemon still only flinch to attack , and there aren't a lot of animations going on , and we're still looking over the Pokemon's shoulder . Essentially , the combat engine hasn't changed since the series first outing in 1998 . There are some move animations that look really good , but aside from that it's hard to look passed the simple fact that the game's combat engine hasn't really evolved since the original games came out way back in 1998 . This isn't the original Gameboy , this is the Nintendo DS . The sound is also no exception . A lot of it sounds really tinny . There are some tunes that definitely sound Pokemon like , but again , it's using old technology on a system capable of a lot more . Most of the sound effects such as the Pokemon's cries are ripped straight from - - you guessed it - - the original Gameboy versions released in 1998 . That's not to say all the tunes sound bad , it's just to say that a lot of what you're going to hear is recycled . Despite the games graphics and sound , Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are still excellent games . There's a lot more depth here than people think , and a lot of stuff to keep you busy for a long time to come . Even those who are tired of the same simplistic plot and formula will find something great here . Pros : + Simple , yet addictive gameplay + Deep , strategic combat system + Touch screen controls make battling easier + Wi-fi connection works well + Over 100 new Pokemon join the roster + Simple storyline that anyone can understand + Being able to battle trainers all across the globe and being able to trade with them is fantastic + Game can keep you busy for hours with all there is to do , easily over 80 hours worth of gameplay Cons : - You can still only save one file - Graphics and sound are horribly outdated - The formula works , but there are bound to be gamers out there who are sick of the same old storyline
    • 004 4  Pokemon Diamond is a good step up from the other pokemon games . I have been a fan of pokemon since the old red , blue , and yellow versions for gameboy . This game makes them look like glitched up things of the past . Here's my opinionated scoop on the bad and the good of this game , in that order . The Bad : 1 . Same old thing . What I mean by this is , although the story has it's differences from other games , it's still basically the same idea .
    • 006 4  Take note that this is the newest edition of Pokemon that was released on Sunday , April 22 , 2007 . . . I pre-ordered this on Wednesday , April 18 , 2007 , received my package with Pokemon Diamond in it yesterday ( Wednesday , April 25 , 2007 ) , and . . . I love this game thus far ! ! ! ! ! ! ! The graphics are awesome , the day / night scene makes a gr8 comeback , you get something called a Poketch in the game that lets you keep track of the time , the pokemon in your party , it has a calculator , etc . . . I could go on and on about this game for hours lol . It's actually like Ruby Sapphire Emerald , and Pokemon Crystal rolled into one game ! ! ! ! ! I love it ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I've only had this game a day and already my Prinplup is in the mid - 20 ' s as of what level it's on ! Sometime this summer or maybe even around Christmas , I may go back and get Pokemon Pearl , or after I beat this game , I might start a new game all over again and check out what the other starters are like . I highly , highly , HIGHLY recommend this game ! I should warn you though , it took me three tries before I defeated the second gym leader . . . but I finally managed to beat her . . . otherwise I love this game . . . in fact I'm gonna go back and play it right now ! OK , like I said in one other Pokemon game review , I am now an eighteen and a half year old Pokemon fan , about to turn 19 in June . I guess you could call me a kid at heart , even though there are such things as adult Pokemon trainers . . . I don't know if I'll ever grow out of this phase . . . who knows , when it comes to video games , maybe I won't . . . I'll probably be playing games like this one for a long time ! ! ! ! ! !
    • 008 4  Pokemon Diamond is the most exciting Pokemon game yet ! There is SO MUCH TO DO . Seriously , there are almost two towns for every gym . That makes Sinnoh the biggest region in Pokemon history . Also , there are lots of great Pokekmon to choose from and a lot of cool legendaries . While the graphics may not be as good as games like Nintendogs , I think the graphics are as good as they should be . Pokemon is a cartoon and I think the graphics are fine . But I do admit that Game Freak could have done a little more on the battle scenes . The battles look pretty much like Ruby and Sapphire . ( Actually so does the game , but Ruby and Sapphire had pretty good grapis IMO ) I think they could have made the Pokemon move more and that would have created a more I'm there feel . But that is ot enough to make me lower my rating ! This game is awesome ! One great thing is that you can use the touvch screen to navigate through battles and party Pokemon and item bag ( and trust me , the item bag has expanded , therefore making it even more time-consuming to navigate through ) . This is great for the Safari ame . I don't know about you , but in Pokemon Sapphire I kept accidemtally catching Oddish and that got annoying . It is harder to make that mistake in this game . And now they have day and night again ! Yay ! The game is very easy for me , at least battle-wise , but that's because I've been playing Pokemon for like almost a decade . However , I have gotten stuck a couple of times . If that happens to you don't worry you can just buy a guide for Diamond or go on Google and type in pokemon diamond pearl walkthrough . So , like in every Pokemon game , you are never completely trapped . Although some of the new Pokemon are a disappointment ( especially Bibarel it looks like a character out of a cheap kiddie show ) in their character design , some look absolutely amazing . Lucario and Torterra are wicked and Pachirisu and Shellos are just too cute . You also have fairly early and easy access to a Pikachu . You can get one after you get four badges , I think . You can find them in the backyard of the Pokemon mansion . Uh wait I mean you can find PICHU there and they are SUPREMELY easy to catch . My personal favorite Pokemon ( so far ) in this game are Torterra , Lucario , Dialga ( dragon / steel ? It's about time ! ) , Crusselia ( looks wise ) , Midrevius ( I know that's not the right name but it's the evolved form of Misdreavs and it's scary-looking but definitely an improvement . Stats are similar to Gengar's ) , and Floatzel ( looks awesome ) . The only real qualm I have about the Pokemon is that there are like three fire-types to choose from : Chimchar ( fire-starter ) , Ponyta ( you can ctach one really early . They aren't half-bad when you teach one Fire Blast ) , and a fire / steel legendary ( or fire / ground . I'm not sure . I do't think I'd use it , though ) . Some might just give up on Fire-types altogether , but fire is my favorite type so no way . Team gallactic is all right . They are weird . They are more evil than Team Rocket . They mostly use bug-types and he new normal cat Pokemon . There's also a cool-sounding wireless feature but I don't have any personaly experience with it yet . To sum up my review , I'll list the pros and cons : * nice graphics * HUGE area to explore * lots of cool new Pokemon * early access to a Pikachu * touch screen makes game easy to scroll through * cool wireless features * easy to moderate gameplay * just plain awesome game Cons : * battles aren't as good in graphics as they could be * some new Pokemon look dumb * not many fire-types Overall , a great game . A +
    • 011 4  So far , the Pokemon franchise has been all about perfecting the same formula that was introduced in Red and Blue . This game is no exception . To keep it fresh , they add various gimmicks that in a sense give you a break in the main gameplay . Gimmicks would probably be a bad word to use , because in this generation of Pokemon , it's more like gimmicks done right . The addition of the Global Trade Station , the expansion of multiplayer options ( Battle Tower , Underground ) , transferring Pokemon from older Game Boy Advance versions blend in with the game very well and add enough spice to make this game feel fresh , despite the fact the game formula is 10 years old . Note that this game targets returning fans of the series . Also , if you are not able to take advantage of most of these features , the game will most likely seem somewhat lacking . So you're going to need a wireless access point and some friends playing the game for the best experience . If you need friends , there is always online Pokemon communities . It's not my style , but it works with a lot of people .
    • 013 4  I own almost all generations of pokemon games ; Red , Blue , Yellow , Silver , Crystal , Sapphire , and Fire Red . I wasn't too interested in buying Diamond , becuase I figured it would be the same old gameplay . I also assumed it would be just like the lame Ruby , Sapphire , and Emerald games . ( Lame to me , at least , since I am a sucker for the old style ones . ) When Ruby and Sapphire came out , I really hated the new pokemon and plot and thought they were literally slautering the game . I recently discovered Fire Red , which I liked at first because of its similarity to the originals . But after a while , I began to get bored of the same old plot in kanto over and over again , and got tired of Pokemon . But then , after reading up many reviews on April 22nd , 2007 , I decided to give Diamond a shot . I thought it would be cool to use the touch screen for more advanced play , and connect with players worldwide using Wi-Fi . So I went to the local Fry's store and bought it , because I was just to anxious to see if it would be worth it . I got home and eagerly ripped the plastic off the game . After I touched that power button , I couldn't put the game down . I loved the refreshing graphics and new story lines . And , suprisingly , the new pokemon didn't bother me . I am now enthralled with Diamond and absolutely LOVE it . It reminds me of the old days , when I got Red Version and anxiously awaited each and every town in Kanto . I was also very happy to find that the game had not lessened or risen in level of difficulty ; it was still the same great gameplay . Good job , Nintendo , on yet another great Pokemon game ! And for all you people debating getting the game ; just get it ! You won't be let down .
    • 017 4  In the world of Sinnoh , you are a boy or girl starting out in the Land of Sinnoh . As soon as you start the game , you and your friend decide to check out lake Verity for the shiny Gyrados sighting . As you go there , you see no Gyrados , but an old Man and his assistant Dawn or Lucas ( depends on what gender you chose ) . As they leave , you realized they dropped a briefcase . As you guys are approaching it , you get attacked by a couple of Starly ( Mukuru in japanese ) and you open up the breifcase nd find . . . pokeballs . Within the pokeballs are the Fire Type Chimchar ( Hikozaru ) , the Water Type Piplup ( Pochama , Picked him in Diamond ) , and the Grass type Turtwig ( Naeteru , Picked him in pearl ) . At this point is where your adventure starts . You have to take your newfound partner , catch other amigos and make a team to battle against other trainers . Graphics - 5 / 5 The graphics are definately an update from the old GBA games . Some places , and even a cutscene or two have 3D effects that were impossible to do on the GBA . THey could've probably been better , but I'm happy with it . Sound - 5 / 5 It has some of the old revamped sounds , along with a bunch of new songs . All of the songs are intereting to listen to , you might even end up liking a few . Gameplay - There is many things to do in this game . You can battle , as usual , and you can also do contest again , a feature once introduced in Ruby and Sapphire , and again in Emerald . However , they added two other parts to the contests , a Visual contest and a Dance contest . You can dress up your Pokemon with clothes you obtain for your Fashion case , while the Dancing game is a rhythm game . You can also go into the underground to play games with friends or get fossils spheres and stones . Online you can battle with friends , or trade with them directly , judging on if you have their friend codes or vise versa . However , there is a way to trade online without those darn codes . The GTS is a server based system in which you can trade with peopleall over the world , and it is also one of my favorite features . Overall , there is a lot to do in this game and Pearl . IF you are a pokemon fan , you're probably going to get this game anyways . But if you are looking for a great RPG , a PokeNOOb , or a casual gamer , you should still try this game out . Overall , I give this game a 5 out of 5 ( lol , it sounds like Xplay )
    • 023 4  There seems to be some debate as to how different the storyline is this time around . First I will clear up these matters as well as I can . Both Team Magma and Aqua are enemies here , and there are several new areas where you will face the two teams . Rayquaza plays a fairly large role in the whole Magma / Aqua struggle . Wallace got a promotion and is now League champion . His gym was taken over by this dude named Juan who is Wallace's mentor . Steven takes a role like Red in GSC , except that I have been unable to get him to battle me more than once . All Contests have been consolidated in the Lilycove location . There is a new area called the Battle Frontier - more on that later . Concerning Legendary Pokemon : Rayquaza can be caught before the Elite Four - good luck . Both Kyogre and Groudon can be caught here , but not until after you clear the Elite Four . You get to choose whether it is Latios or Latias that you must track down . The game also has a phone built into the Pokenav , like GSC , only more annoying . This time around , Gym Leaders will demand rematches . The playable characters are slightly redesigned but look worse than their Ruby / Sapphire counterparts . Pokemon have little animations when going into battle , like Crystal . Besides these things and a few reworked rosters , things are mostly the same as Ruby / Sapphire . Same annoying rival , same basic path through the game , and same towns and environments . And the new stuff is not worth the price if you have one or both of the original 3rd generation games . After having the privilege of using the VS Seeker in LeafGreen , reverting to the old PokeNav system of trainer rematches seems like a step backwards . Battling Gym Leaders again is an interesting diversion , but it doesn't come close to the VS Seeker's convenience . Trainers will call you , and mostly it will be pointless drivel . You will tire of their calls very quickly . Also , the Pokemon animations often take too long and aren't worth it . Now onto the Battle Frontier . This is a amusement park-like place for tough Pokemon battles against bosses called Frontier Brains . Two of the facilities have normal Pokemon battles . One has normal battles with a 3 - turn limit . One has you choosing doors with random surprises behind each one . One forces you to wander in darkness , collecting whatever items you can find to survive numerous battles . One puts the Pokemon on autopilot , attacking ( or not ) depending on their nature . And the last one has you using rental Pokemon . Using Rental Pokemon sucks . They have bizarre and marginally useful attacks . In fact , the whole Battle Frontier is infuriating . Your opponents have surprisingly good luck - inaccurate attacks like Blizzard and Hypnosis will hit you 9 times out of 10 . When you use such attacks , you will miss them 9 times out of 10 . Also , they will score five critical hits for every one that you get . Too often , they will snatch victory from you because of a lucky hit . Perfect if you like throwing your GBA across the room . For hard-core trainers who understand the game's mechanics , there are several features that help you properly raise your Pokemon . Again , if you have Ruby or Sapphire , this game is unnecessary and a waste of money . But if you don't , go ahead and pick it up . Slightly better than Ruby and Sapphire , but Fire / Red and LeafGreen are the standout games of the 3rd generation of Pokemon RPG's .
    • 036 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I have had to but 3 of these games , because all three of my children love it . The first 2 - I spent days looking for the best price , and the game period ! Logged on here - and took no time . Saved myself about $9.00 , and who knows how much gas and time . Great game , and recommend it to any parent / gamer .
    • 038 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This is a great game . It is just like Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire except some differences . The biggest difference is the Battle Frontier . All you do is battle , battle , battle . You can only go there if you beat the elite four . The champion is now Wallace and the 8th gym leader is Juan ( a new guy ) . Juan is really easy . He is just like Wallace . He trains water pokemon . Steven you can battle in meteor falls , but be warned Steven has amazing Pokemon like a Skarmory , Cradily , Armaldo , Aggron , Metagross , and Claydol . All are around level 70 . Another great difference is you can get all the legendary pokemon . Kyogre , Groudon , Rayquaza , Latios , Latias , and all three regis . You can also get pokemon from Gold and Silver version like Miltank , Wooper , Octillery , Teddiursa , Pineco , Sunkern , and more . You can get both desert fossils . In Ruby and Sapphire you could only get one ! There is also the Trainer Hill ( BORING ) . You try to race to the top of this building and battle trainers along the way . You also have this thing called the match call list . You can call some trainers and battle them again . Even gym leaders . Overall this game is great . Buy it .
    • 042 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This is a really fun , exiting game that you can play for years and not get bored of . Emerald is different than the other games . First , when you meet a wild or trainer pokemon , they do an animation . Like when you meet a wild Linoone , they swish their tail from side to side . And Aron jumps up . If you have beaten the Elite Four , you can trade with players from other reigons , like FireRed . This game is a good game to play on long , boring road trips or just at home relaxing . The only flaw is that it costs 30 $ ! ! !
    • 063 4  I tried to purchase this game used from 3 different Amazon Marketplace sellers ( 2 were actually 1 seller using aliases ) , and all 3 copies I received were bootleg versions of the game . I've given up on trying to find a used , REAL version of this game . If you have to buy it , definitely try to find a new copy ! I have a real version of the game I bought new in the store years ago , so I knew something was up when the first copy arrived . It didn't have a shiny sticker like my real copy , and when I booted the game up , it said The save file will be loaded . The game can be played . I found from a little internet digging that these are two sure-fire ways of telling your game is a bootleg . I even sent the third seller a note after getting 2 fake copies , asking him to check the following things which can indicate the game is not the real thing ( but that didn't stop them from sending me a bootleg copy , anyway ! ) : First , the cartridge itself should be green . If it isn't green it's fake . If the game says The save file will be loaded . The game can be played when you start , the game is usually fake . To clarify , check the Emerald sticker : Is it shiny / metallic ? If not , it's a fake . Also are there small numbers stamped on the sticker ? If not , fake . Check the back of the cartridge , does it say 004 ? Definitely fake . It should say 002 . Then final test , check inside the cartridge where the gold thingies start , does it read Nintendo in gold letters ? If not , it is fake . This is an excellent game , but if you get duped into buying a bootleg version , the game will corrupt itself and stop saving and / or delete your save data towards the end of the game . Also , you can't use Pal Park to import Pokemon from a bootleg GBA game into your DS versions . If you have to get a used version of this game , I recommend contacting the seller first and asking them to verify all of the above indicators . . . hopefully you'll have better luck than me . Buyer Beware !
    • 068 4  I've played most of the Pokemon games now , including the brand new Pearl / Diamond set , and I just really found that I had to come back and review this game . None of the others compare to this one , so I have to give it 5 stars . REASONS FOR IT BEING THE BEST : * Sapphire and Ruby were already extremely fun , and if it wasn't for this game , I'd probably vote THEM the funnest . However , this game is a combination of both and because of that it's even better . * I really love team Magma and team Aqua , especially because in a sense they weren't really bad guys . They thought what they were doing was helpful , and in the end they learned their mistakes . I've always liked villains with some depth to them , and these have that . Also , having rivaling enemies in the same game was a cool experience . * The overall storyline and characters were perfect . I really enjoyed the dialogue / boss fights / overall story from this game and honestly can't think of an improvement . * The game just keeps on going . Nothing ever really seems to end . Even after you've defeated the elite 4 there's still SO much you can do ( especially considering theres a vast ocean to explore ) . I beat this game almost a year ago and I STILL pick it up from time to time . * The fact that I couldn't really think of any cons to put in here says a lot about it . I mean I guess maybe the graphics could be better ( after playing pearl ) , and having to connect with other players via cords can be annoying , but honestly those really aren't that important . The game experience itself greatly makes up for those tiny flaws . * The original set of pokemon always has a place in my heart , but I felt that the new ones they came up with for this one were a great addition and a lot better then the others . * The mechanics of the game were pretty much just like all the other ones , and since most people have played the old versions of Pokemon , this should be very easy to figure out . * The music was very catchy and never got monotonous . All in all , if I were to suggest a Pokemon game to anyone , it would be this one . Pearl might have this one beat graphics wise , but Emerald beats it in almost every other way . So this game gets 5 stars from me .
    • 072 4  The Pokemon franchise has long outlasted its fad status , and seems here to stay . Next to Mario , it's the best-selling video game franchise in history . There's a reason for that , and it's not the pikachu dolls people bought for their 10 year olds . The games that started it all are excellent role-playing games , and bring you into a fun and interesting setting with lots of choices . Pokemon Emerald follows the same plot as the rest of the Pokemon games . You start as a rookie trainer , and eventually work your way up to the Pokemon League champion . On the way , you manage to save the world from the incursions of a team ( two teams , in this case ) that seeks to use pokemon for their own advantage . The plot is simple but fun . The battle system is engaging , but the real appeal is the pokemon themselves . You can catch them , trade them , and battle them . Additionally , you can enter them in contests , feed and care for them , and breed them . You can only carry six at a time , so there's a lot of thought put into building a team , teaching them moves , and so on . You can have hours of fun just exploring the wilds and entering pokemon into contests , regardless of whether you want to actually battle them or carry through the game's plot . Pokemon Emerald has all the strengths of its predecessors , and adds some new features to boot . It also has the franchise's drawbacks . The plot is predictable to those who have played the game before , and risks becoming stale at times . The amount of battling can become repetitive later in the game , especially when you're in a cave and you have to deal with wandering pokemon every few steps . These flaws are easy enough to ignore if you're interested by the gameplay , though , and that gameplay stands up well in comparison to most CRPGs out there today . Overall , Pokemon Emerald isn't anything new for the franchise , but it does continue a tradition of good games that carry the Pokemon brand name .
    • 073 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) My son is happy with the game and that makes me very happy . So I give it a 5 .
    • 076 4  I think this game is great . I play it 24 / 7 . ( almost ) and I recommend it to all pokemon fans . It has more features than Ruby / Sapphire , and Leafgeen / Firered . Here are a couple of examples : Battle Frontier Battle tent Berry Crusher

    • 133 4  1 . The game was used ( there was a player profile when started ) although the seller claimed it was new . That was not the major problem ( see 2 ) . 2 . After my kid progressed further into the game ( Battle Frontier ) , she found that the rest function did not work . It could not save the game progress . Later on , another try to save the progress caused the complete deletion of the saved game . It was maddening . 3 . The seller was quick to refund the full cost .

    • 161 4  I bought this game a bit after buying Pokemon Diamond and played them both alternately . sadly , the great game play of Diamond kind of ruined Emerald for me . it's so easy to compare the two and find faults w / Emerald . overall , it's a great game and I like the fact that you can re-challenge the gym leaders ( though you can't re-challenge the trainers leading up to the gym leader ) , and I like the battle frontier . I despise the Pokenav , especially the fact that having certain Pokemon on your team will cause you to get more inane calls more often . it pales in comparison to the Vs . Seeker of Diamond . I also wish they had the day / night set up Diamond has ( I know , I know , I'll try not to compare the games so much ! ) . the biggest pro of this game , and the main reason why I'd encourage fans to buy it , is for the ability to migrate Pokemon onto your Diamond or Pearl game so easily . this will seriously help you , not only complete your pokedex in D / P but also help you snag and / or breed some different pokemon ( for example , Ditto is quite common in a certain area in Emerald , and you can get an Eevee in Diamond , so by migrating a Ditto , you can breed for the different evolved forms of Eevee ) . another added pro to this is that you can catch both legendary pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire , along w / a third legendary . by the way , you can also migrate items , which is useful since you can create multiple shell bells in Emerald and migrate them to the new game , along w / evolution stones , battle items , and different flutes if you don't have Ruby or Sapphire ( or even if you do but are willing to splurge ) and you have Diamond or Pearl , Emerald is a must have game , not only for good game play , but also for the ability to truly catch ' em all !
    • 163 4  Well , I've played every version of Pokemon on a portable game system there is to play , from the humble beginnings to their latest incarnation on the DS . This one being a third Pokemon game ( Ruby and Saphire are the first two ) , it's a worthy addition for a Pokemon fan to own . The graphics are crisp and clear , plus the in-game animation is top notch for a Gba game . If you haven't played either Ruby or Saphire , this would be a good bet . I was taken by surprise when there was a new starter set to choose from . Even though the basic types are the same , the different Pokemon had me happily enjoying Pokemon all over again . I can't say this would be worth getting if you already own either Ruby or Saphire , but Pokemon fanatics might still want to pick it up as part of their collection . Note : For this review , I did not play or own Ruby or Saphire . I recommend playing this game on the DS versus the Gba , as the screen brightness of the DS will make it that much more enjoyable , unless you own the newest Gba with the brighter screen . Pros : Graphics are crisp and clear , animation is excellent Sounds are good , even from the Gba speaker Many different types of Pocket Monsters to choose for your team Cons : No day / night cycle ! Same old Pokemon story if you already own Ruby or Saphire A little dated now with the release of Pearl and Diamond Bottom Line : Worth getting for any Pokemon fan or if you are new to the series . This would be a good game to get . Despite it's age , Emerald doesn't fail to deliver the Pokemon . Still gotta catch ' em all !
    • 196 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) What a fun game . If you've never played Pokemon then this is probably the place to start . It's got quite a few sidequests and so many pokemon you can catch . It'll hook you though - - consider yourself warned . You won't be able to stop !
    • 198 4  I'm a 13 year old girl and I have been a Pokemon fan for as long as I can remember . I loved my Gold version dearly , and I own Yellow and Leaf Green too , but when I heard about Sapphire I just had to get it ! Sapphire was amazing ( all the new Pokemon ! ) , and then Emerald came out and I wanted to find out about the new Battle Frontier . I just got this game last September for my birthday and I'm working on beating the Elite Four . I have to train an electric type Pokemon to beat the champion in the Elite Four because it's a different person and he has water Pokemon in this game and I started with a Torchic . I haven't gotten to the Battle Frontier yet but I'm sure it will be cool . The new Battle Tents were interesting , they moved all the Pokemon Contests to Lilycove and put Battle Tents where they used to be . You can do different types of battles like Battle Swap and more at the different tents . Anyway , some other neat things I liked were that the Pokemon were animated ( like in Crystal , I don't own that game but I rented it ) . Now I'm not used to playing my Sapphire because they don't move ! I also like how the girl character has a green bandana . I don't know why I do , I guess it's just different . If you already have Ruby or Sapphire , or if you don't have either , I reccommend this game for anyone !
    • 207 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This is a pretty good game a little pricy though . I like it because it is 3 games ruby , saphire , and emerald ! I'm not even a big pokemon fan but I still like the game ! So if you have 35.00 buy this game ! You won't regret it !
    • 224 4  Everyone remembers the Pokemon phenomenon six years ago . It came on the scene and burst into everyones home . Now , all these years later , how do the games hold up ? Well , this is the most recent one , and it's pretty good . Pokemon Emerald features a pretty good challenge for an RPG-like game . You'd think Nintendo would have lowered the difficulty , but not this time . This is just another Pokemon game that happens to be pretty good at keeping you attached to it . Pick it up .
    • 228 4  This is how they scam you with pokemon games : 1 . They release 2 different versions , ( ex . Red and Blue , GOld and Silver , Ruby and Saphire ) 2 . People are excited , so they buy one version . 3 . People like the one version so much , they buy the other version so they can have all the poke'mon . 4 . After that , they release a combination game , ( ex . Yellow , Crystal , Emerald My advice is to be patient and wait for the combination games to come out . If you don't have ruby or saphire , buy this !
    • 230 4  Pokemon Emerald is an RPG ( Role Playing Game ) for the Game Boy Advance . Even though Pokemon Emerald is like an exact copy of Pokemon games Ruby and Sapphire , there are still some exclusives to the game . Like the chance to go to the Battle Frontier , and catch all Hoenn Pokemon . Pokemon Trainers also have different Pokemon and different levels . Pokemon Emerald allows you to capture Kyogre , Groudon , and Rayquaza . The Pokemon Company , Game Freak , and Nintendo have designed Emerald differently from Sapphire and Ruby , and the main Pokemon trainers look much different . Pokemon Emerald is definitely a great game to buy !
    • 234 4  Pokemon , a popular series of games . It has ranged from Pokemon Red and Blue ( which also got remakes , Fire Red and Leaf Green ) , the games that started Pokemon , as well as their third edition game , Yellow , followed by Gold and Silver with their third edition game , Crystal , and most recently , Ruby and Sapphire , with their third edition , Emerald . Out of these , this review is for the game Emerald . Emerald , being the third edition of Ruby and Sapphire , you would expect to be very similar to said games . However , Emerald manages to add plenty of new things to make it considerably different from Ruby and Sapphire , from design , to new add ons . These additions are covered in later paragraphs . The gameplay is rather simple and easy to catch on - you first have to rescue the Professor at your hometown , Littleroot Town , from a Zigzagoon chasing him , which was a Poochyena in Ruby and Sapphire . You have to pick one of three Pokemon - Treecko , a grass-type gecko-like Pokemon ; Torchic , a fire-type chick-like Pokemon ; or Mudkip , a water-type mud fish-like Pokemon ; to defeat the Zigzagoon in battle . After that , Birch lets you keep the Pokemon as a thanks . You then can journey to battle your rival , who is rather friendly compared to the previous rivals of the Pokemon games . He / she , depending on the gender you picked for yourself , will have the Pokemon with the type advantage over yours . But since neighter Pokemon know attacks of their own type , it isn't too hard . Then you can get PokeBalls , and you can catch more Pokemon , and challenge Gym Leaders , who will give you badges if you beat them , your rival , many other trainers , and finally , the Elite 4 , a group of 5 trainers who all train high level Pokemon . When you beat them , you and the Pokemon in your team get put in the hall of fame . The design , while still similar to Ruby and Sapphire , has managed to improve . The overworld manages to look better than it was in Ruby and Sapphire , as it looks more like a cross between R / S and Fire Red / Leaf Green . The design of the bag , where you store items to help you in the game , has improved from R / S , and looks more like FR / LG , with the exception of the fact that there's a specific bag for berries like it was in R / S , while berries were stored in a Berry Pouch in FR / LG . However , Emerald keeps the fact that you can see miniature images of the object you're checking from FR / LG . In a battle , the text changed , and more notably , the Pokemon in battle now have animations seen when they are first seen in a battle . However , the animations vary in quality , as there are only two different sprites in reality for the animations : the rest of the animation is just modified from one of those two sprites . Some of these manage to go rather well , such as Ditto or Minun ; in the case of Minun , it actually looks like it's saying it's cry . Some , like Combusken , are rather bad , since Combusken suddenly moves it's head by a lot in it's animation , so it can't go too well with only two sprites . But if you can't stand the animations , don't worry . You can simply switch Battle Scene in the options menu from ON to OFF , and you won't see the animations in battle . There are plenty of 100% new additions to Emerald that weren't in R / S at all . One of them is the fact you can get many Pokemon from Johto that were originally only obtainable in the GBA era by breeding Colosseum / XD Pokemon . Most of those are obtainable in a new Safari Zone section unlocked after beating the Elite 4 , but you can also find a Sudowoodo you need to use the Wailmer Pail on to battle ( much similar to how you needed to use a Squirtbottle on Sudowoodo to battle it in G / S / C ) and a Smeargle-infested cave , both at the Battle Frontier , which will be covered later in this paragraph . A notable addition is the Match Call added to your PokeNav , where you can call trainers you recorded in Match Call , including Gym Leaders . You can rechallenge Gym Leaders up to four extra times after beating the Elite 4 , where the Gym Leaders will be training Kanto and Johto Pokemon . Often , trainers will suddenly call you , always normal ones . Another feature is the addition of the Battle Frontier , which replaces the Battle Tower of R / S . You can try different styles of battles , which will be recorded on your Frontier Pass , which you will get when you first go to the Frontier . You can also catch both Kyogre and Groudon , choose with Lati you want ( Latias or Latios ) , and get both fossils ( the Root Fossil , containing Lileep , and the Claw Fossil , contianing Anorith ) , the one you didn't pick the first time at the desert now being findable in a Ditto-infested cave at the Fossil Maniac's house . There are also more additions , but I think I've mentioned plenty . There are several things from R / S gotten rid of in Emerald , but none of these are too big of a deal . One of these changes is a lack of certain Pokemon , as you can't catch Surskit , Masquerain , Meditite , Medicham , Roselia , Zangoose , or Lunatone in these games , all of which where catchable in Ruby , Sapphire , or both . However , the problem is easily solved by trading . That is probably one of the most major removals , so in general , not much worthwile stuff from R / S is gone in Emerald . Of course , nothing is perfect , and Pokemon Emerald is no exception . For example , Emerald can get kind of annoying with too much wild Pokemon of a specific type ( I could compare Zubat with StarBucks - both are so common ) , and even though I could use repels to avoid them , I'm often trying to look for a rare Pokemon , like Snorunt . And also , a few of the gym puzzles are rather tedious , such as Tate and Liza's - but it is at least less tedious than the R / S version , where it was very annoying . I can't say Flannery's is that enjoyable eighter , but I do find Winona's and Juan's puzzles kind of fun . I would consider Emerald to be a decent improvement over R / S , and while it is fine if you do not want Emerald , I myself would recommend it . - orcafan

    • 243 4  Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby were two great games that got my interest back into Pokemon after mastering all the previous games ! ! ! Pokemon Emerald is truly a breath of fresh air for the Pokemon franchise ! ! ! It has all of what Sapphire and Ruby had and more ! ! ! The game is a updated and refurbised version of those two games with a new graphics engine and cooler environments with changes in the story and plot to spice things up ! ! ! Their are also some changes with the gym leaders : with tougher pokemon and different gym design ! ! ! When you get to the 8th badge the gym leader is different and it turns out Wallce has become part of the Elite Four . You also get a new updated pokedex and can now trade with : FireRed , LeafGreen , Ruby , and Sapphire whichs opens up the world of pokemon furthermore ! ! ! This is a must have for any pokemon fan , and opens up the world of pokemon to a new level ! ! ! Heck you can catch Korge and Groudon in one game , along with the new Battle Frontier ! ! ! I also like that they brought the breeding concept back to pokemon too ! ! ! Overall , I will give it a 4 / 5 , I'm tire of Pokemon and think that they should come up with something more innovative to keep my attention , with lots of great RPG's in the market ! ! ! If you love Pokemon this is the perfect game for you ! ! ! This is a dream for any Pokemon fan ! ! !
    • 246 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I ordered the game from Amazon and it was used ( they no longer make gameboy games ) and it was a birthday present . She used the game once and it was broken . The game was cracked and it said it was in good condition when I ordered it . There was not a return address on the mailing envelope , so I have a broken gameboy game . Went to gamestop and bought her the game for 40.00

    • 251 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I already have over 200 hours on this game , and it still hasn't gotten old . Seriously , there's , like , an infinite amount of things to do . And there are all kinds of great new things they added to the game , like the Battle Frontier , the fact that you can catch Groudon and Kyogre , and the fact that you can re-battle gym leaders ( it's about time ! ) . The only really annoying thing is that trainers can call you and they never have anything even close to interesting to say , but besides that this game is perfect . And they added back the animations of the Pokemon , like in Crystal ! This game is even better than Ruby and Sapphire ! If you liked Ruby and Sapphire , chances are you'll like this . Anyone who says it's no different from those two and there's no sense in buying it probably hasn't played it , because trust me , it's great . IMO , the best Pokemon game ever made !

    • 259 4  I know many of the games feautures , thanks to www.serebii.net ( visit that site ) I have also played Ruby and Sapphire , so I pretty much know everything about the game . Rayquaza is one of the main features of the game , and it even gets it's own cut scene ! The new Battle Frontier is an awesome add-on ! Thanks to Nintendo events , ( and for millions of others , Gamesharks ! ! ) You can get Deoxys ! Speed Form , by the way ! And , you can trade to / from Fire-Red / Leaf-Green / Ruby / Sapphire too ! ! So you can get the entire Pokedex ! Even Ho-Oh and Lugia ! ! ! But there is one thing that stands out among the rest . The cutest , most powerful , all around adorable . . . MEW ! ! ! ! You can get it ! But it's at a nintendo event. But like I said , go to www.serebii.net , and I think under Gameshark codes , they have a code to gte Mew ! But for added fun , look around the web and you might just find a code that'll warp you to Faraway Island , and you can capture her there ! ! Don't miss Pokemon Emerald ! ( And don't miss your chance to nintendo-event / shark little miss Mew ! )

    • 283 4  It was a very nice game , but the reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the following : I was only half way through it when it fell in my pool . . And it ruined it . But my party was fantastic . I named my whole party their names in Japanese . Overall , It was a very great game . To the Emerald bashers : Stop it . It's a great game , and it is nothing like Ruby and Sapphire . The story line is completely different . So there . ~ Melody23 of Gaia Online
    • 288 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Oh ! its another damn pokemon game . This game is a fun RPG , but i only know about 240 pokemon , and there is now a ridiculous amount to deal with . YUCK ! also there is just not enough change from ALL of the previous games . i would get fire of leaf .
    • 302 4  Although this game is the best game out right now for the GBA pokemon series it still has alot of bummers aloft . Theres no Action Replays out that work on it . The game gets very boring after you beat it I bet you wont even last long enough to get ONE badge in Frontier . Just like Ruby / Sapphire , after you catch and fill all your Hoenn Dex all that happens is you get to look at a stupid certificate which isn't even an item you get to keep . You just talk to the guy and he shows you your certificate . Yeah you also get one of the three Johto starters after you fill the Hoenn Dex but you could just get all three from Colloseum . You'll find more enjoyment in Zelda Minish cap or Link to the past . If you dislike the zelda games then you'll have to go with this I guess .

  • 037 4  I have had to but 3 of these games , because all three of my children love it . The first 2 - I spent days looking for the best price , and the game period ! Logged on here - and took no time . Saved myself about $9.00 , and who knows how much gas and time . Great game , and recommend it to any parent / gamer .
    • 154 4  I did get far with in the span of three days but I really love this game ! It has a lot of action . I would buy it again ( oh wait I did ) sorry , muggers got the first one ! ! But I still love this game !
    • 208 4  This is a pretty good game a little pricy though . I like it because it is 3 games ruby , saphire , and emerald ! I'm not even a big pokemon fan but I still like the game ! So if you have 35.00 buy this game ! You won't regret it !

  • 041 4  I just started playing , and am not that far into the game yet . But I have played almost all the other pokemon games , I mean I am 13 , what kid hasn't . I am finding that it is simlar to a few of the other games , but with the new twist that was added , it makes the game interesting . If you are purching this game someone , you might want to ask how they liked the other games , would they like them mixed into one , or are they looking for a new plot all together .
    • 112 4  I bought this for my nephew and he loves it . He is 9 yrs old .
    • 124 4  This game was cracked and was useless . We threw it away and purchased new . Since it was cracked you could not play the full game . I would never again purchase from this buyer .
    • 232 4  I bought this game for my son . He tells me he enjoys it very much .
    • 280 4  This game is so much fun . I have played it so far for 305 hours and 17 minutes ! It has good graphics . I like it because you get to have secret bases . You should buy it !
    • 294 4  The game comes in good state . I enjoy this game . I play with it by hours a day . Is better that another versions because its display and graphics are much more better and the history goes on correctly .

  • 056 4  I havn't been to the Battle Frontier yet , but I have seen pictures and herd lots of cool and great things about it . I am a member on a Pokemon forums and I like to look at posts about the Battle Frontier . When I look at the questions and they are talking about all this stuff I have no idea about , I think it must be AMAZING ! It looks plain and normal like a town like Lilycove , but it is far more complex on the inside of the buildings . Factorys , Fan centers , Battle Tower , Battle Pyramid ! LOTS OF BATTLE PLACES ! I love to surf around on the water and sit there and watch all of the designs and look real close and see the little PIXELS that make up the pictures . = D It looks so cool how they have done that and how they have made the world of Pokemon and all of the diffrent regions . All of the maps , ideas , STATS . , looks , how all of the routes and caves tie together ! Ever little rock , tree , bush , grass patch ! The world of Pokemon is truely amazing . BUY IT NOW YOU LAZY NOT BUYING NOWERS !

    • 310 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) NOT REALLY SURE HOW GOOD GAME IS . WHEN I PLAYED THIS GAME IT HAD A VIRUS AND I COULDN T GET REIMBURSED THROUGH SELLER OR GET EXCHANGE . AND AMAZON WOULDN'T STAND BEHIND IT EITHER .

  • 180 4  This game is a very fun game to play and you also be able to catch some pokemon the was not in the other pokemon games . You will never know when the story will change from the pokemon ruby story line . You will find different buildings in the contest tents places up to lilycove city . There is alot more things to find that is what makes this game fun to play . It is a little harder in some areas in the game but it is an easy game to figure out . So if you buy this game you will more than likely love it . I know I loved the game .
    • 058 4  Pokemon Emerald is like a combination of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire , with a bit of a new story , with moving pokemon and a new island , the battle fronteer ! What could be better than that ? Because these games are combined , there are more oppertunities to catch pokemon that weren't in the other versions , and make it more interesting to see pokemon in battles or the wild . The battle fronteer makes it worthwile to play the game after it is beaten . I think this was a great idea for nintendo to do .
    • 060 4  You may not think that there is much feutures in pokemon emerald untill you have beaten the elite 4 . There is a new area called the battle frontier . . . You can get both groudon and kyogre in the game and there is lots of new places and new things to do . I have pokemon sapphire and I do not think this game was a waste of money .
    • 148 4  I have to say , my son hasn't been disappointed in any of the Pokemon games yet . Great game .
    • 159 4  I purchased this for my grandson . It is a game that is not produced any longer , so it was used . Had a little problem with the first one that arrived - it ended up not working entirely and my grandson lost about a month's worth of gaming because he brought over some Pokemon from another game and the Emerald game that he had did not save . He lost everything . We contacted the person that sent it to us and they very very very graciously replaced the game and he is having a wonderful time with it now .
    • 173 4  This version of Pokemon is the fun of the older versions combined with new features that carry on to the more recent versions . If your looking for a Pokemon game that is interesting , has solid game play , and of course fun , this game is a must buy !
    • 184 4  Pokemon Emerald another additon to the Pokemon franchise . This game is quite similar to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire . Pokemon are the same but there are a few new add ins like the Battle Tower I belive . Personally I was unable to play this game through yet due to I barely made it through Ruby . If you have played neither Ruby nor Sapphire I recommend you buy this game because it contains bits of Ruby and Sapphire and more .
    • 191 4  Overall the game is fun and worth it if you enjoy the Pokemon franchise . However be careful about buying a used version . Mine , and I found out many other people had this problem , told me the saved file was erased due to damage or corruption after I beat the Elite Four and went through the credits . So if you don't want to take the risk of that happening because somebody sells you a bootleg version of the game , consider buying it new .
    • 204 4  When Pokemon Emerald was released in America , I bought it online here as I couldn't wait until it came out in the UK . When it arrived , it didn't dissapoint . With new features including more catchable Pokemon , the Battle Frontier and the safari zone extention , this game is one to buy whether you have Ruby and Sapphire or not !
    • 214 4  THis is the best pokemon game so far . I have them all and i love this one . definetly a must buy
    • 308 4  Horrific . Do you guys test your used games at all ? It frequently loses its save game and was a waste of money . I work hard for my money and don't appreciate losing it on a product that was obvious on first use didn't work correctly .

  • Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) I own almost all generations of pokemon games ; Red , Blue , Yellow , Silver , Crystal , Sapphire , and Fire Red .
    • 012 4  This review is from : Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) I own almost all generations of pokemon games ; Red , Blue , Yellow , Silver , Crystal , Sapphire , and Fire Red . • 024 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This Pokémon game is undoubtedly the best of the GBA Pokémon games . Not only are there asthetic changes , the changes to the core system make the game that much more rewarding . The nature of every Pokémon is now a factor in battle , affecting their statistics in unique ways . Animation , a new feature , is done with a scant 2 frames , but it injects much more personality into Emerald than the games that came before it could ever have . Connecting to friends is also rewarding , with several features that are directly influenced by your friends . Again , this is a great game to get if you have a DS or a GBA .
    • 028 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) i have seen how pokemon has gone through its evolutions and with pokemon emerald , i think that they just skipped about ten evoulutions ! ! ! ! ! this game is like pokemon saphire + pokemon ruby times 2 !
    • 040 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I just started playing , and am not that far into the game yet .
    • 057 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Pokemon Emerald is like a combination of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire , with a bit of a new story , with moving pokemon and a new island , the battle fronteer !
    • 075 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I think this game is great . I play it 24 / 7 . ( almost ) and I recommend it to all pokemon fans . It has more features than Ruby / Sapphire , and Leafgeen / Firered . Here are a couple of examples : Battle Frontier Battle tent Berry Crusher
    • 077 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I'm actually a 19 year old player of Pokemon , and have been a fan of the video games since Red and Blue came out . This is by far the best I have seen of the games so far . In all honesty , this game will offer you many more features than the other games had to offer , more Pokemon , more adventure , more mystery , and more everything that we love in Pokemon games ! I recently just got this game with my significant other , and we play it together all the time . It's worth the money , and it's fun ! Weather you are playing alone or you have a friend to play with , it's worth your time . From an older child's point of view , it's one of the best games of Pokemon created so far ! Have fun , and experience it for yourselves !

    • 091 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I think this game is awesome because of the fact that the storyline has new parts put into it . Also you can go into the battle frontier and battle many trainers as much as you want . Also I wanted to say this was my last game for the Game Boy Advance because right now I am not pleased with Nintendo right now . Because of the fact that they are losing their popularity now and everyone doesn't like their stuff anymore . But hey Pokemon was something I've always liked since I was 12 years old and they make really good games and everything . But now with their new pokemon games coming out , due to the fact that these games do not allow you to play as the trainers anymore , you actually control the pokemon . Anyway I this Pokemon Emerald gets a 4 out of 5 for being my last Game Boy Advance game yet .
    • 131 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) 1 .

    • 166 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) When I was little and this game was a new game , this was the first game I got for my Game Boy Advance SP . I don't know my exact age , but I'm eleven years old now . I loved it ! ! Back then I was a Pokemon fanatic , and I'm getting into the T.V . show again . This game really makes you want to play it . It was very challenging for me back then , but it's probably easier for me now . You have to chose from a Mudkip ( water type ) , a Torchic ( fire type ) , or a Treeko ( grass type ) to be your starter Pokemon . The best choice is Mudkip , because the type of Pokemon the first gym leader you battle is weak against fire types . The graphics are simple , but since when does the graphics decide how good the game is ? I recomend this game to all ages .
    • 170 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Why is it that I don't mind this game being very similar to Gold / Silver Generation and Red / Blue Generation ?
    • 192 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) not as good as the fire and leaf green versions , you start off with few to catch and the pokenav is brutal to get people to start a battle . if fun to check out new places but I just wish they followed the formula of the other 2

    • 248 4  I ordered the game from Amazon and it was used ( they no longer make gameboy games ) and it was a birthday present . She used the game once and it was broken . The game was cracked and it said it was in good condition when I ordered it . There was not a return address on the mailing envelope , so I have a broken gameboy game . Went to gamestop and bought her the game for 40.00
    • 268 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) The recipe for Pokemon Emerald is 2 parts Crystal , 3 parts Firered / Leafgreen and the storyline of Ruby / Sapphire with a little tweaks and a new are the Battle Frontier and you get the best Pokemon game yet . The two parts from Crystal are the pokemon animations and the cell phone , the three parts from Firered / Leafgreen are the pictures of the items , tells you how many you have when you buy items and the text and the storyline was been tweak by you fight Team Aqua and Team Magma .
    • 279 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This game is so much fun . I have played it so far for 305 hours and 17 minutes ! It has good graphics . I like it because you get to have secret bases . You should buy it !

  • Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) In the world of Sinnoh , you are a boy or girl starting out in the Land of Sinnoh .

  • Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) Pokemon Diamond is a good step up from the other pokemon games .

    • 007 4  This review is from : Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) Pokemon Diamond is the most exciting Pokemon game yet ! A +
    • 033 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) My 10 yr old had been pretty much playing with his PSP for the last year , and had relegated the GBA to storage .

    • 176 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) After PKMN Ruby my faith in the franchise was revitalized due to the games heavy level of fun and replay and moreover , fixing the vast mistakes PKMN G / S / C made and went back to what made Pokemon so great .

  • Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) Take note that this is the newest edition of Pokemon that was released on Sunday , April 22 , 2007 . . ! ! ! ! !

    • 135 4  Pokemon Emerald is a great adventure game with an impressive storyline . It is a very worthy successor to Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire .
    • 140 4  Very entertaining game . I ordered it for my daughter who was begging me to buy it . The order arrived promptly and timely . I would order again from this seller .
    • 195 4  The Pokemon Emerald Version is a fun game . It is great to add Polemon to your Diamond or Pearl Pokemon . Everything went smooth in the transaction . I would buy from this person again .
    • 271 4  I ride the school bus to school and a friend of mine brings his Game Boy Advance SP with him on the bus . One day he was playing Pokemon Emerald Version . He told me it was a great game . So one day I went to Best Buy because my sister was looking for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on DVD and I happened to come over to the Game Boy section of the store and found it on sale . My dad told me I could buy it . So I did and now I am so hooked to it !
    • 278 4  Same all all the other game new missions and a few new pokemon to get but basicly the same . My boys love it but I find it boring .
    • 282 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) It was a very nice game , but the reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the following : I was only half way through it when it fell in my pool .
    • 303 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I purchased the Game Boy Advance Pokemon Sapphire , Emerald & Ruby for my son's birthday . He wanted these games so he could migrate the Pokemon to his DS Pokemon Diamond game , but these games would not allow him to migrate the Pokemon . Every time he tried to migrate the Pokemon to his Diamond game , it would delete his file and he would have to start all over again . I know that his DS and his Pokemon Diamond game are not defective because his cousin has the Game Boy Advance Pokemon Emerald game and he doesn't have any trouble migrating Pokemon from his cousin's game . He found the disfunctional games to be rather frustrating . I returned all 3 games by USPS with signature confirmation . Y Yang signed for the package a week ago and I still have not received a refund for the games .

  • Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) The Pokemon series has always appealed to the obsessive in me .

    • 311 4  NOT REALLY SURE HOW GOOD GAME IS . WHEN I PLAYED THIS GAME IT HAD A VIRUS AND I COULDN T GET REIMBURSED THROUGH SELLER OR GET EXCHANGE . AND AMAZON WOULDN'T STAND BEHIND IT EITHER .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I haven't played this game , but trust me , I know a good game when I see one . I mean , look at the odds , the U.S . sold over one million copies of Pokemon Yellow in the first ten days . Surely we'll sell more than that . Us older kids have had the great experience of Pokemon Red to Pokemon Saphirre and Ruby , so we're probably sell a whole lot more with Pokemon Emerald . All you little kids and us big kids will want Emerald version instead of only little kids wanting Yellow version , like I did back in 1999 . After all , the game is a combination of some other great Pokemon games . I read some other guy's review saying they put the phone and the Pokemon movements right after they get out of the Pokeball idea from Crystal version , the pictures of the items and number of how many of that item when you buy it from FireRed and LeafGreen , a lot from Ruby and Saphirre , all into Emerald.I can't wait to get my own Pokemon Emerald game for my own . I hope this was helpful .
    • 026 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I think this game is good.It should be easy for those that know pokemon games and have played ruby and sapphire. It may get a little challenging after beating the pokemon league. But the only thing that bugs me is the no-new pokemon thing , its been going on with some of the games and the only new one seems to be munchlax. This game has ruby and sapphire mixed in.heres a list of things that are new and ditched stuff : contests are mostly replaced with battle tents , the pokenav can be used as a cell phone again , you can catch kyogre and groudon. This game will make a good addition to your pokemon collection and parents , I think your child would like it .
    • 045 4  I bought this game last month . This is my favorite game . You can trade pokemon with other versions with a gamelink . You need to be able to read to play the game . Buy this game !
    • 051 4  This game is basically a repeat of ruby and sapphire . But i like it . I already have almost all the pokemon . I just need ditto . In this game you can get tons of pokemon such as rayquaqza , ho-ho , and lugia . Overall it is best you rent it .
    • 082 4  I got the game in the summer and have captured 200 pokemon.I even have pokemon emerald cards. But every thing is harder .
    • 098 4  I beat this game like 6 times it's very easy to beat. But it's a awesome game.I got this game for a good report card and I was very excited to get the game. But sadly I'm grounded from games . For anyone who don't have this game get it !
    • 150 4  I love pokemon . Great game . Alot of fun and very addicting . I just wish they would make a game like this for the bigger systems . One that you can actually go and catch pokemon like on the TV show . Until they get smart enough to do that , I will continue to have fun with what they have out .
    • 165 4  The five-star rating I gave should be enough to tell just how good this game is .
    • 218 4  great game . Five stars . Now i'm not just saying this because i'm a kid but I know great games when i see it . This is one great game except for nintendo couldve updated the grahpics a little but overall a good game .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I looked for a while for a game that could somehow mirror the time I spent into my childhood favorites Pokemon Red and Blue . I looked in systems like Xbox 360 , PC games , and hand-held games , and it became apparent that the only way I'll ever recreate the magic I had when I was 7 at 17 was with , once again , Pokemon . But by now , I could no longer pick up the old Pokemon Red or Blue and play . I've played the game so many times and abused the Missing No . glitch too much to get anything new , so I took a risk in a newer Pokemon game . I'm still partial to the original 151 Pokemon , but I was drawn into the game just as quickly as I was for the original , and as a bonus , it's been weeks , and I STILL have so much to do in the game , and I have trouble setting it down . The only negative I can think of is losing some sleep due to playing it a bit too much at night .

    • 211 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) You start off as a new person in town . From there , the professor is scared and he asks you for help . Soon after , you get your first Pokemon , and from thereafter , it's all fun and games . I my opinion , the best part is catching and training Pokemon . And , let me tell you , it's hard ! Although , it's really fun when your Pokemon evolves . And if you get this game , I'm sure you'll love it too ; Pokemon fan , or not !

    • 290 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Although Pokemon Emerald isn't out yet , it looks really fun.All of the previous Pokemon games were in a class of their own.Emerald features a new land , called Battle Frontier with fourteen more badges to collect and seven gyms , each with two badges. This game will surely be the best of the GBA games .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I've played most of the Pokemon games now , including the brand new Pearl / Diamond set , and I just really found that I had to come back and review this game .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) its a great game but catching strong pokemons is very hard . it has great minie movies way shorter than ds but its still cool . its easy to train a weak pokemon but its gets harder to train a stronger pokemon . tip : if you have a pokemon that you put in the daycare center and you just leave your gameboy and dont do anything , your pokemon wont get stronger at all ! its a good pokemon experience but get pokemon xd for gamecube .

    • 299 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Neat the graphics are amazing the new batle arens are very cool . Here's a hint : do NOT leave the team aqua base until you find the hiden master ball . P.S don't start with treeco he looks ugly when he evolves .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Now , I have to admit that I never played Ruby and Sapphire . I got on the Gameboy Advance bandwagon a bit late , and had to buy my gaming system used from the local gaming store , and bought Emerald at the same time . The last games I had played were Gold and Silver , and i was completely blown away . I will say right now that my biggest gripe with pokemon Emerald was that I missed the original 150 pokemon , plus no in-game Eevee acquisition , which did ruffle my feathers a bit . However , the addition of Fire Red and Leaf Green to the Advance lineup mostly clears that up for me , even if I do lack a friend to trade with . Unfortunately , most pokemon gamers have moved on from the Game Boy Advance , which leaves me in a bit of a rut , but this , obviously , is not the point of the review . Aside from the lack of a great number of kanto and johto pokemon , another gripe I had with this game was the lack of perception of time . The addition of weather was nice , but what's the point in having an ingame clock when neither day or night is recognized ? While not a huge deal , it does make evolving an eevee into Umbreon on Emerald impossible , and negates the nocturnal habits of some wild pokemon as well . Again , not anything big . While the storyline itself is fun , beating the game itself is not all that hard , especially is one chooses to take Rayquazza to the Pokemon League with them . But for me , the work before the Elite Four is not really the * fun * part about the game . The best part about this game , IMO , is the Battle Frontier . I find myself spending most of my hours logged on this game breeding and raising pokemon specifically to be on my Battle Frontier teams . While your Blaziken might have served you well before in the game , you might find that he simple doesn't cut it in the Battle Dome , when he needs to have a wide range of moves to be able to match any opponent , or in the Temple , where you must rely on his nature in order to get through battles . After the Elite Four , new johto pokemon appear in the Safari Zone , which also increases your pool of available pokemon for Frontier play . All in all , I believe that this is a wonderful game , and well worth the money for any gamer , despite the small drawbacks .
    • 093 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Whoever disliked Pokémon before will completeley change their minds when they play this game ! Though the beggining of the game is a little similar to the Ruby and Saphire versions , the rest of the game is a blast . There are new Pokémon , new areas , and theres even a new area in the Safari Zone that's completely different to the Ruby and Saphire versions . There's only one con to this game : it's way too hard . It took me about a month to pass the other Pokémon games , but it took me four months to pass this one ! Here's a tip for the game : to unlock Chikorita , Cyndaquiyll , or Toatadile , you must first catch all the Pokémon in the game . Also , to connect with FireRed and LeafGreen versions , you must pass those games , too . All in all , this is the greatest RPG game I've ever played . It's a must have for all GameBoy playing people . BUY IT ! ! ! ! !

    • 160 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I bought this game a bit after buying Pokemon Diamond and played them both alternately . sadly , the great game play of Diamond kind of ruined Emerald for me . it's so easy to compare the two and find faults w / Emerald . overall , it's a great game and I like the fact that you can re-challenge the gym leaders ( though you can't re-challenge the trainers leading up to the gym leader ) , and I like the battle frontier .
    • 162 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Well , I've played every version of Pokemon on a portable game system there is to play , from the humble beginnings to their latest incarnation on the DS .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Ok , so its another pokemon game . You would think it would be the same as the rest . Well , it isn't . The game play and the whole idea is the same but there are these wierd little animations your characters perform when they pop out of their pokeball . At first it was bearable but it just gets on your nerves after a while . If you turn off the animations though then there is no movement what so ever even when you attack and it gets kinda boring . If you love pokemon then go for it . But the rest should just play one of the other games .

    • 305 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Okay , it's fun . Can't deny that . And yes , there are a few new features . However , unfortunely it's mostly the same old Ruby / Sapphire game recycled . If this were a PC game , they would have released it as an add-on to the original for half the price , not as a whole new game . Save you money and wait for the next series to begin instead .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Pokemon Emerald is an RPG ( Role Playing Game ) for the Game Boy Advance .
    • 044 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I bought this game last month . This is my favorite game . You can trade pokemon with other versions with a gamelink . You need to be able to read to play the game . Buy this game !

    • 050 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This game is basically a repeat of ruby and sapphire . But i like it . I already have almost all the pokemon . I just need ditto . In this game you can get tons of pokemon such as rayquaqza , ho-ho , and lugia . Overall it is best you rent it .
    • 059 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) You may not think that there is much feutures in pokemon emerald untill you have beaten the elite 4 . There is a new area called the battle frontier . . . You can get both groudon and kyogre in the game and there is lots of new places and new things to do . I have pokemon sapphire and I do not think this game was a waste of money .

    • 119 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I am very unhappy with this one . I don't like the fact that the save file can be corrupted if I accidentally turn it off . Plus , I try to send some Pokemon to my Platinum version , but once I do , the file becomes corrupted . Next time , be sure what you sell , is actually good .

    • 149 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I love pokemon . Great game . Alot of fun and very addicting . I just wish they would make a game like this for the bigger systems . One that you can actually go and catch pokemon like on the TV show . Until they get smart enough to do that , I will continue to have fun with what they have out .

    • 157 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I purchased this for my grandson .

    • 168 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) I would want to know which Pokemon to start out with because I might not have the best ones for the game . I would also want to know if I could capture good Pokemons or else I would not want the game . The way the characters look could be better . They could be bigger . I would also like to be able to choose how to make my character .
    • 172 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This version of Pokemon is the fun of the older versions combined with new features that carry on to the more recent versions . If your looking for a Pokemon game that is interesting , has solid game play , and of course fun , this game is a must buy !

    • 178 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This game is a very fun game to play and you also be able to catch some pokemon the was not in the other pokemon games .

    • 183 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Pokemon Emerald another additon to the Pokemon franchise .
    • 190 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Overall the game is fun and worth it if you enjoy the Pokemon franchise .
    • 194 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) The Pokemon Emerald Version is a fun game . It is great to add Polemon to your Diamond or Pearl Pokemon . Everything went smooth in the transaction . I would buy from this person again .
    • 203 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) When Pokemon Emerald was released in America , I bought it online here as I couldn't wait until it came out in the UK . When it arrived , it didn't dissapoint . With new features including more catchable Pokemon , the Battle Frontier and the safari zone extention , this game is one to buy whether you have Ruby and Sapphire or not !

    • 229 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Pokemon Emerald is an RPG ( Role Playing Game ) for the Game Boy Advance .

    • 244 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) i think that pokemon emerald is an exellent game because you get to catch pokemon , breed them , level up pokemon and even envolve them to different evolutions.it is a cool adventure game that brings mysteires to solve like ( how to get mew , ho-ho , lugia.etc ) it also has new islands , better grafics.for me it is a exellent game to play.pokemon emerald even has pre-evolution and evlution pokemon that you do not get on leafgreen and firered they are ( pre-evolution of snorlax , evolution of sneasel , pre-evolution of sudowoodo these are all i know for now.it for me is the best pokemon game
    • 266 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This game is great ! At first I didnt know what to do but I found out it was kinda easy at first and got harder . BAD CON - You need to have a GBA system or you can't trade and get all the pokemon ( i have a nintendo DS ) .

    • 307 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Horrific . Do you guys test your used games at all ? It frequently loses its save game and was a waste of money . I work hard for my money and don't appreciate losing it on a product that was obvious on first use didn't work correctly .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) The Pokemon franchise has long outlasted its fad status , and seems here to stay .
    • 009 4  Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this ? ) This review is from : Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) So far , the Pokemon franchise has been all about perfecting the same formula that was introduced in Red and Blue .

    • 019 4  Ever since pokemon red I have played these games and this one is the best . Pokemon diamond has pretty good 3D graphics but they aren't as good as the ones in vale of darkness for the gamecube . If your looking for a game that you can play for almost a year than buy this . You can't get sick of it . This is a great game for all ages and I think that you should get it . The good : The Wi-Fi connection lets you trade and battle people from the other side of the world . Hundreds of knew pokemon make this game intresting even if you have already played the gameboy versions . The story line is brand knew and will take up a lot of time . Night and day in the game are according to the real time and enable you to catch different pokemon and do different things at different times of day . There are knew moves ( There are two knew HM's ) , knew pokemon , knew places , and knew functions . I have played for hours and I haven't found any gliches . You can have secret bases with cool stuff like T。's , fridges , and furniture . If you do certain things you can move all the rocks out of your base and get a nice clean floor to work with that has no obstacles . You get something that tells you how your pokemon with the breeder are doing and if there are any ripe berrys around . Knew form of pokeblocks called poffin are more fun to make . You can put one of your pokemon on offer and someone can do the trade even when the DS is off . The bad : You can only trade for things on the Wi-Fi that you have at least seen on your pokedex . You have to buy certain GBA games to be able to catch certain pokemon . This game is incredibly good and I suggest that anyone who is at least interested in a non-violent game to buy it . Plus , some people on the Wi-Fi are stupid and will give you great deals in trades . BUY THIS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
    • 020 4  This review is from : Pokemon - Diamond Version ( Video Game ) If you liked pokemon before , you better get this one ! the story line is more cmplex than the previous versions and you're constantly being reminded of it with all the battles against team galactic and conversations with the proffesor and your friends. That's right your friends ! In this game you have friends instead of a rival , which to me makes the game more enjoyable.your friends have the other two starters , so no starter pokemon is left out . some of the pokemon look like the people designing pokemon ran out of ideas . . . But some of them are really cool like dialga.the graphics have been updated , so unlike the other versions that when you walk , everything would stay 2D , in this one , you see in 3D , so everything flows.the pokemon contests are more complex : dance competition and dressing your pokemon are added.Even the part where you perform moves for judges has been improved . There's a park where you could walk around with a cute pokemon following you , and will pick up items for you to dress your pokemon in the competitions . Then , you could transfer pokemon from your gba version to your ds version after you get the national pokedex . You get that by seeing all pokemon listed in the sinnoh region , so you have to beat the game . and . . . i can't explain it but how frequently trainers appear , the levels of their pokemon , where they are put is just better . So basically , GET THIS GAME ! ! !

    • 197 4  What a fun game . If you've never played Pokemon then this is probably the place to start . It's got quite a few sidequests and so many pokemon you can catch . It'll hook you though - - consider yourself warned . You won't be able to stop !
    • 223 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) Everyone remembers the Pokemon phenomenon six years ago .

  • Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) This is how they scam you with pokemon games : 1 .

    • 181 4  This review is from : Pokemon Emerald Version ( Video Game ) My son is a big fan of Pokemon and he plays Pokemon on every Nintendo GBA , DSL , Cube , etc . On every platform , the game he likes most is Pokemon definitely . I bought this Emerald after he finished Ruby ( or Sapphire I forgot ) and got a guide book from Borders . He really like it . Parents may wonder what's the fun in it , but don't need to think about that . You kid really want it , they have differnt mind than grownups .
