    • 030 4  I really love Kill Bill , A groundbreaking and kinda unique movie ! And Those music / songs play in Movie is Bright too ! Plus The Music is worked by RZA [ A rapper / produce from a Rap Group called Wu Tang Clan ] This Guy is one of my favorite Rap Music Producer ! So , there's have no reason for me to not purchase it ! I Still remember I have bought A.I . Soundtrack ! But that's not too good , The movie is excellent and those music is nice IN THE MOVIE , But It seems losing the soul when you only hear the sound without those touching screen . . . . But KILL BILL Soundtrack have NO this problem , It's good to hear with the flim and still very Great to LISTEN ! Here's the songs review : 1 : Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) - Nancy Sinatra This soundtrack got a Great song to start ! • 046 4  KILL BILL VOL . 1 sdtk is well done . . . . each song is great and he arrangement in each song is estounding . . . the RZA ( from the Wu Tang Clan ) is a great producer . . . my favourite song on the sdtk is don't let me be misunderstood . . . this song went perfect with O'ren and the bride in the snow . . . this fight scene was just tight overall . . . i just wish this song was not 10 : 31 long ! ! ! ! but i do love the instrumental break and they really get down . . . ironside gives me chills everytime i hear it . . . even when i watch it on the KILL BILL movies i just feel ' the bride ' on getting her revenge and her pain . . . Quincy Jones did that ! ! ! ! ! now when i get mad at people i play this clip and they know im mad as hell . . . overall this sdtk , the movie , and everything is just estounding and by far this is the best movie i have ever seen . . . . EVER ! ! ! ! i have never seen a movie and heard a soundtrack that changed my life . . . 5 + + + + + + + + + stars
    • 137 4  After watching the movie , i can't wait to get my hands on the sound track , however , i have to ask What is title of the WHISTLING song ? That song was incredible . Rock on !
    • 145 4  haven't heard the full soundtrack yet , but i'm just curious to see if that song is on there that plays whenever the bride is ready to kick some ass ? whenever the camera does a closeup on her eyes its this weird high pitched sound that i love . if anyone can let me know if it's on there and what the name of the song is , that would be great ! thnx !

  • 30 in length ! ! ! The part used in the movie kicks in at about the 4 : 00 mark , so for anyone looking for that song , it's in there ! The other song that I really like is the Zamfir track , now like most everyone else I just assumed Zamfir was just a late night TV commercial ! ! The track though is very haunting . The last stand out track for me is Nancy Sinatra's reading of Bang Bang the song is used to perfection in the film . At first I wondered why this cover version was used instead of Cher's original version from 1966 . After hearing Sinatra's version though , I have to say it is superior to Cher's take ( although Cher's remake of her own hit in 1987 is pretty good too , but still not right for this movie ) . All in all this is great CD , the mix of songs is odd to say the least , but they all work together to create a very atmospheric listen . If you loved the movie , you'll love this CD ! ! !
    • 007 4  I loved this CD , but of course . . . it's missing quite a few songs . The Hattori Hanzo sword song and every song missing from the cd can be found at killbill2 . net in the rare music section . Would've gotten 5 stars if it had those songs in the first place .
    • 009 4  Ok , first of all I have to say that this is a really great album period . I bought the album just for one track and ended up liking the entire CD . The song I bought it for was Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood the scene for which is used in the movie is the dual between Uma Thurman and Lucy Leu . The version used in the movie is instrumental only , however it IS heard on the CD . The song on the CD is 10 : 30 in length ! ! ! The part used in the movie kicks in at about the 4 : 00 mark , so for anyone looking for that song , it's in there ! The other song that I really like is the Zamfir track , now like most everyone else I just assumed Zamfir was just a late night TV commercial ! ! The track though is very haunting . • 038 4  whoa . . . for me the movie really has to have a visual and emotional connection for me to see it twice in hopes of evoking that same lump in the throat feeling . . . success it was great even the second time and i was able to pay attention to the visual details which made me think how refreshing to see something different but not outrageous that it would scare away the not so film affeciendo types . . ok spelling might be off on that one . . but . . . when i listen to the CD it moves me to the visual scenes in my memories of Oren . . . and her fateful moment the music is a compilation of import classics i had never heard and so it was nice for the original artists to get their work recognized a second time
    • 071 4  Has some good catchy songs that are fun to listen to . Also some unexpected monologues from the movie and some that weren't included in the movie . This makes the CD perhaps a bit less listenable as a whole . All in all pretty good though .
    • 078 4  Tarantino always knows how to put a great soundtrack together for his movies and this one is no exception . He consistently introduces the listener to great music that they may have not heard otherwise . Although extremely ecclectic , just about every song seems to compliment each other instead of clashing . The only downside of this particular collection is the out-of-place contribution by The RZA with his silly Ode to Oren Ishii . If it wasn't for this single track , then the CD would deserve 5 stars .
    • 115 4  Just like Martin Scorsese and P.T Anderson , Tarantino uses music so brilliantly in his movies that it is practically part of the script or another character in the movie . Kill Bill is his most eclectic soundtrack yet . My only complaint is that the CD is only about 45 minutes long and is missing a lot of songs used in the movie . I would say the highlights are definately present and accounted for though . So far this is my favorite Tarantino soundtrack .
    • 123 4  The movie was great and the soundtrack fits it perfectly . Sound goes in through your ears and starts to get your blood moving before the opening scene with Sinatra's Bang Bang . Some thing so great can only have been put to gether by the RZA but alas . The only tune that isnt on this album is the haunting tune that Elle Driver whistles as she strolls on to give the lethal injection . If anyone knows where thats at let me know . If it wasnt for that small detail it would have gotten the max rating but this CD is a must have whether youve seen the movie or not .
    • 152 4  I loved the song played when the bride cuts off sophie's arm . This song is not on the cd , however . And nobody seems to know what its name is . So if you do please post . As for the others on the CD - they are pretty good , give the general feel of the movie . Its an eclectic collection .

  • 011 4  I saw Kill Bill last night , and the movie directed by Quentin Tarantino was a modern masterpiece . The visual effects were awesome , and the way that the story played out was unbelievable . But something aside from those aspects was the music , which grabbed me and wouldn't let go . There were so many varieties on the soundtrack , from techno-pumpin themes , to punk music , to quiet flute harmonies . Some of the music was even done by Wu Tang Clan's RZA , and he did an exceptional job on orchestral pieces for a rap artist . No rap artist has done this well on a soundtrack since Eminem did on the 8 Mile soundtrack , which is another terrific soundtrack . The best song on the album is Nancy Sinatra's contribution , played at the vey beginning of the movie . It has an edgy , soft rock sound to it , and I loved it . Overall , I absolutely loved the soundtrack , and even if you haven't seen the movie , you should still think about getting it . But for any fan of the terrific movie , Kill Bill Vol . 1 , this is a must-have item !
    • 032 4  Having first seen the film I right away fell in love with the music in this Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece : Kill Bill Volume 1 . Songs are very carefully chosen and match perfectly the atmosphere of the movie . Don't miss this soundtrack ; it's worth listening even if you don't like the film so much .
    • 056 4  This is a supercool soundtrack . Quinton Tarantino is so good at choosing the right music to enhance his films . One of his best so far . It almost tops Pulp Fiction . I wonder if Kill Bill II can live up to this one ?
    • 064 4  Everybody knows that Quentin Tarantino knows how to put together a great soundtrack , and this is no exception . With a perfect blend of East and West , this album covers all the best music from the film .

  • 027 4  This soundtrack blows any other previous Tarantino based soundtrack out of the water.Just the quality and variances in the types of music chosen is phenomenal.I'm opened up to new explorations into my musical atmosphere. The 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 ' s are one of these groups , I must now explore based on their addage to this soundtrack.I was sitting in that darkened movie theatre out in Farmingdale watching , what has to be the best Tarantino send-up since Pulp Fiction.I was glued to my seat and could of actually spent the rest of the evening watching the last half of the Kill Bill. The choice of old Ironside music was also another plus .
    • 053 4  This has to be one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen and this killer soundtrack to go along with it just enhances the movies overall appeal . The music might seen a little off color but thats the point . The whole movie is sort of off color and thats what makes the soundtrack just a great compliment .
    • 076 4  This soundtrack is everything I hoped it to be . If you love Kill Bill , you have to own the soundtrack as well .
    • 093 4  If you go to the website there is a song that plays at first I was wondering what the song was and if it was on the cd . Also if you click luicy lui or oren ishii the music plays again . Its a simple guitar line but i was curious to know if the full song was on the cd . thank you .
    • 101 4  I think this CD would have been absolutely perfect if it weren't for track 6 . I would have loved to have been able to listen to this beautiful song without all the sloppy rapping forced on top of it . Maybe when it comes out on DVD I can rip the song from where it appears in the movie with less garbage cluttering it up . Oh well , better luck next time .
    • 105 4  Kill Bill : The Original Soudtrack is an achievement of great proportions . Whether you're making the always wise purchase to pick up a Tarantino based movie soundtrack or youre just in for some hip , less mainstream , more qualitated musical delight . Either way , pick it up . I cannot stress enough that this isn't for everyone these wild sounds and grooving emotions are for a select few . don't listen to me . Go with your instincts on this one . If you think you'll like it , you will so pick it up . If you're still not completely sure , visit the www.kill-bill.com feature website for a small , 4 track excerpt preview . This is Beta speaking , OVER AND OUT .
    • 130 4  I love this Cd ! is my favorite ! , it combines since classic music and western to soul , it's fantastic ! , i like Don't let me be misunderstood , Green Hornet and Battle without honor or humanity . I don't care that it hasn't ALL the songs of the movie , but it got the bests . For the person that write in his review that Seven notes in Black , is not in the CD , better check out the titles behind your disk and you can see that Seven Notes in Black is the same song that Ode to Oren Ishi . Bye bye .

  • 050 4  I'd really like to know where in the movie each song plays.I do know some already-like Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood plays when the Bride starts fighting O-Ren till O-Ren makes the first cut , Twisted Nerve plays while Elle Driver prepares to give the Bride a lethal injection , Bang Bang is during the starting credits , The Grand Duel plays after young O-Ren kills Boss Matsumoto , and the 5,6,7,8s play in the House of Blue Leaves. But where does Flower of Carnage come in ? If someone knows where all the tracks play , can you please list them out ?

    • 057 4  I have to say that when I was watching this movie , I felt every last piece of music and its timing in the film was perfect . Every note aligned with every frame . I went to buy this soundtrack right away after I first watched this film , expecting so much , yet became very dissappointed . Don't get me wrong , this has all the very important songs . The opening , of course . Bacalov's Grand Duel , the music during the anime scenes where O-Ren witnesses her parent's murders , Green Hornet , Meiko Kaji , Isaac Hayes , all here . My big let down though is that Santa Esmerelda's version of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood occupies half of the second side of the LP . In addition , one of the songs by the 5.6.7.8 ' s is not here at all , and neither are some of the melodies from the fight scene with the Crazy 88 ' s , mainly being Nobody But Me , as well as that nifty old timey , western music when the bride is fighting Johhny Mo . NOT TO MENTION that bad battle theme when the Bride severs Sofie's arm before the fight at the House of Blue Leaves begins . That classic was in one of the trailers , yet not on the soundtrack . Esmeralda is the biggest dissappointment though . All that wasted space , about 9 minutes worth when only one minute of it , instrumental only , is even in the film . Plus , the RZA's Ode to Oren Ishii is not in the film , and is not that good of a song either . The album arranger must have been treating this soundtrack like a toy car for Godzilla to stomp upon . Still , I am glad I have this , because like I said , all the main themes are in this .
      • 015 4  I don't have to say much , as everyone else has already said , this is a great album . Tarentino has always had a great ear for soundtracks . I wanted to mention a great song though that is used in the movie but not on the soundtrack or listed in previous reviews . I need more love by Robert Randolph and the Family Band . Part of this song plays in the scene when the Bride faces Oren Ishi for their final battle , very upbeat , disco like with wailing guitar and syncopated clapping . It makes for a great scene and it's a great song .
      • 034 4  Is there a song with the same music / beat as the one in Ode to Oren Ishi ? I like it , but without RZA's voice ruining it . Thanks ! !
      • 092 4  The soundtrack is nothing less than you would expect from the movie . The style is eclectic , ranging from the 5 , 6 , 7 , 8s ( 50s style surf music in Japanese ) two Nancy Sinatra . The cd also includes to monlogues . First when O-Ren Ishii speaks to her council , and another from the Bride to Sophie Fatale . The last few tracks are sound effects from the movie such as swordfights . An excellent cd that anyone with an eclectic style can appreciate .
      • 117 4  This soundtrack has a few good songs on it , I got it just for the whistle one ( so I can learn the whistle ) and Woo Hoo , the one the japanses chicks sing in the club . Some of the older songs that are on the Cd are good ( I love the Issac hayes one ) , but a few just plain suck ( especially the one with RZA talking over it ) . Good to buy if you really like some of the songs from the moive , but dont be looking for anything more than that .
      • 133 4  some good songs . . but it all flows much better once u see and hear it all togeather on screen . i do have a question though . . dose anyone know the name of the song that is played in the background to the RZA's Ode to Oren Ishii ? let me know akira_f1 @ hotmail.com

    • 088 4  I love the soundtrack almost as much as I love the movie . It's so good . Only Tarantino could come up with something so ingenious . The music is great - especially the old , eclectic mix of old forgotten songs . Bang Bang and The Lonely Shepherd are so good on this . The RZA stuff is good too , and he uses everything on here in a dramatic way . His choices are so fitting to each scene they are used in . What a weird , brilliant and deliciously twisted mind he has . This is the best .
      • 075 4  I always love Tarantino film soundtracks , This one did not disappoint . I wish I had purchased one without explicit lyrics though because I fail to see the point of the language on this album .
      • 079 4  I enjoyed this soundtrack , except for the fact that it was missing the music played in the scene from the movie just before The Bride cuts off the arm of Sophie Fatal . Other than that , pretty cool .
      • 083 4  This is very much a modern day samurai / kung fu / spaghetti western style movie . Check out the music , much of it taken directly from the fore mentioned kung fu genre and the spaghetti westerns . It's epic .
      • 084 4  Thank you very much , very good music . I very like Tarantino . Music from his films is very very good .
      • 107 4  Wow , great soundtrack , all the memorable stuff is in here . Unfortunatly one of the most emotive songs in the film is polluted by the RZA , who barfs words all over it . It's really sad , because he's a much better lyricist than what he spat out over his track on the album . Oh well , everything else is good , including the tracks mixed by him . I just wished he had kept his mouth shut on the one track .
      • 109 4  I love this soundtrack and it's one of my most played at the moment .
      • 111 4  I love both Kill Bill movies and can watch them over and over again . The two soundtracks provides a great recap of the movie itself . I had to admire the selection of these songs - so subtle and to the point .
      • 131 4  What is the name of the song at the end of credits before the song Urami Bushi ? It has a mix of western and the flute of the orient , I like the mix . Can someone give me the title of the song or the Artist ? I would be very greatful .
      • 151 4  Thank you Mr . Tarantino for the joyride this movie is . I began laughing as soon as I read the Old Klingon Proverb instead of Old Arabian Proverb . The music is great , even if only to let the younger generations to get acquainted to the mastery of Al Hirt . You are a true genius . And I enjoy tremendously your work .

    • 089 4  I have not seen the movies yet , but I have listened to both soundtracks . overall , I think the vol 2 soundtrack is better and more consistently good than this one , but this vol 1 soundtrack has several really good songs that are better than anything on vol 2 . For example , both of the songs battle without honor or humanity and don't let me be misunderstood are completely awesome , groovy , and cool songs that I listened to again and again . Some of the other stuff on here is pretty good , but inconsistent . I would think that it would only make sense if you have seen the movie , however . I recommend you check this out if you liked the movie , or even if you haven't seen it ( like me ) . There's bound to be at least several songs on here that you will like , even if the others seem a little odd and out of place ( such as the rap song ) . As I understand it , there is a lot missing . I wish they didn't put in the random noises at the end , it bugs me a lot . They could have used that space and more to put in more awesome songs !
      • 024 4  Hats off to this soundtrack . If you were in the theatre you already know that this soundtrack lined the entire film stirring emotion in every movie goer . I give it a serious thumbs up . You will too .
      • 066 4  Santa Esmarelda's Don't Let Me Be Misundersood is the stand out track on this unsurprisingly fantastic soundtrack from Mr.Tarantino ( who brought us fab soundtracks in the form of Pulp Fiction , Resivior Dogs and Jackie Brown ) . It's all here with some cool movie segments. If you saw you film , you must have loved the music , so you should love this !
      • 103 4  I bought the soundtrack only because 1 song . . . and it isn't in the soundtrack . If anyone of you remember the movie you should remember the oriental chant when ( bip ) cut Sofi's limb at the bar . I hate to say it but that was the best song and it is the only one missing in the soundtrack . Then again , all the others complement for the missing song . Is an A + soundtrack and movie !
      • 104 4  If you've seen the movie and enjoyed it for the revenge / action flick it is , then the soundtrack will not disappoint . I love mix of music genres , it's kind of a mix between old western gun fight music ( tumbleweeds blowing between gunfighters ) , then combine that with japanese drums ( samurai duels ) and then throw in some blacksploitation funk in the background . Different . . . yes . . . but it definitely gets your heart beating , and feet tapping
      • 143 4  Does anyone have any information concering the battle theme when Beatrix Kiddo severs Sofie's in the fight at the House of Blue Leaves ? I have looked all over the place . I can't believe it was left out . It reminded me of the music played in Conan the Barbarian when Thulsa Doom's henchmen come face to face with a Conan they thought they had killed - just like Kiddo .
      • 154 4  this is a great soundtrack one of the best i've heard in long time a good mix of old new and classical tunes also the japanese themes are great and i recommend this to all .

    • 106 4  After watching the two movies and buying them on DVD , i figured i'll get the soundtrack from the movie . However , many of the songs on the album are not the ones in the film , and some are not songs at all , just sound effects from the fighting scenes ! The fantastic track at the end of the film which plays during the fight between The Bride and Oren isn't even on the Cd , that was a real mistake . Don't bother forking out your bucks for this , theres no point !
      • 072 4  Excellent soundtrack ! The only flaw is it doesn't include the song Death Rides a Horse aka Da uomo a uomo which is the song played right as Beatrix is about to cut off Sophie's arm .

    • 118 4  The high point comes early , on track 3 , THE GRAND DUEL - ( PARTE PRIMA ) by LUIS BACALOV . That it does not overwhelm the soundtrack is testament to the strengths of the other tracks . It's not downhill from track 3 . It's fascinating and entertaining all the way . Not a bad track on here ! Tarantino's best soundtrack . Helps that the film is a knockout ! ! !

      • 121 4  Half of every QT movie is made by the soundtrack , and it truly becomes it's own character within the film . Apart from the movie , these songs are really cool - and I'll never be able to listen to Bang Bang again without thinking of this movie . By the way R Diep , the whistle song is on this disc , track 4 Twisted Nerve . . .
        • 054 4  An above review stated that Elle Driver's lethal injection tune was not on the soundtrack , and as CDNOW has not yet listed the tracks , I cannot be certain if it is or isn't on the CD . BUT , if anybody is searching for the tune , I believe it is titled Twisted Nerve by Bernard Hermann .
        • 055 4  this movie was pure genius , and the same goes for the soundtrack . the songs are weird , which fits . the music will only be good if you have seen the movie though . without seeing the movie first , the music is like a rambling homeless man .
        • 128 4  This cd was not purchased on Amazon but was bought in store . I don't know if the Amazon version has the vocals version of Bang Bang but mine DID NOT . It is purely instrumental . And I was hopping mad . Please ask Amazon before purchasing .
        • 139 4  Great soundtrack , great movie , enough said . I agree with R Diep about that Elle Driver song . It should be on the soundtrack . Just to let ya'll know it is by Rizo of the Woo Tang Clan , tho .

      • 150 4  I saw the movie and fell in love with it ! The movies music is just as good as the movie and is an intrical part of it . The soundtrack helps make the movie even better . If you loved the movie you'll love the music . All the music you hear in the movie is on the soundtrack and even includes some short sound effect clips . my favorite song is either #7,8,9 , or 11 . And #5 is hilarios to listen to . It's the part of the movie with lucy lu speacking to the councel of yakurza . Ha Ha hilarious !
        • 086 4  If you're a fan of the films at all , this is a must have . The soundtrack is FABULOUS !
        • 087 4  if you saw the movie you will appreciate it even more a must ! !

      • 156 4  I just got back from seeing the movie for the third time . I just bought the soundtrack specifically for the one song that is played when Uma chops Sophie's arm off , and then she has that amazing eye contact with Lucy Liu . It is NOT on the soundtrack and it is driving me crazy . Quentin did the same thing with Pulp Fiction - - he didn't include Rumble by Link Wray , which is played when Uma walks to the ladies room when she and John Travolta are in the restaurant . Please , if someone knows the exact name and artist of the song I am talking about , please include it here so I can go buy it . Oh , the soundtrack is pretty good and it * does * include the Ironside theme . . .
        • 025 4  This is a great soundtrack , almost all of the great songs from the movie , including the original songs . Great mix of genres too . And as an added bonus the soundtrack is Enhanced for computers , it includes all the full trailers for the movie . Does any one know what the song in Trailer 3 ( KB3 ) is called ? The only complaint I have with the soundtrack is that Ode to Oren should be instrumental .
        • 138 4  Classic Quentin Terintino movie , and soundtrack . This goes right with the movie as far as i am conserned . He always finds the right songs , and where to add them to the film . Great soundtrack to add to the collection .
        • 144 4  OK , there is a song that begins playing in that snowy room . It begins while lucy l . and Uma T . are getting ready to fight . It sounds like hands clapping . What is the name of this song ? ! ? ! If you know it , please post a comment .
        • 146 4  What are the names of the 3 songs that play in the Bootleg / KB3 trailer included on the disc ? ( The song that plays at the end of the trailer is also the same song that is played when The Bride cuts Sophie's arm off ) Does anyone know the names of any of these songs ?

      • it makes me yearn to see the first DVD as much as theatrical Vol . 2 . Rarely do soundtracks - - especially compilations - - evoke the mood , energy and drama of a film this long after it entered theaters . Sure , it's uneven in spots , but the good more than make up for the weaker tracks : Topping the list for me are tracks 1,3,4,9 and 10 . Nancy Sinatra's opening Bang Bang obviously grabs listeners as immediately as it did film viewers - - it's the heart of both the film and this CD , and quite indispensable . Certainly a very wise selection on QT's part , even compared to his other soundtracks . As already noted by many here , The Grand Duel is quite haunting and a treasure from the spaghetti western genre period , building to a beautiful , poetic crescendo before it returns its lonely sunset requiem . I can't get enough of Bacalov's track , stunning work and nearly worth the CD purchase itself . Track 4 is Bernard Herrmann's Twisted Nerve - - a movie I've not seen , so this was a total surprise to me in both the film and the CD , yet so obviously Herrmann upon first hearing and I'm a sucker for his work . To be honest , its use in the film was fun , but I enjoy it much more when not tied to Elle's whistle-sync performance . Hotei's Battle Without Honor or Humanity plays well with the love of a cool groove threaded through Tarantino's films - - enjoyably brash and over the top , a solid vibe for the kicking , punching , slicing and dicing to ensue . Yet another treasure to discover is Santa Esmeralda's cover of The Animals ' mid - 60s hit Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood at Track 10 . They give it a completely different workout , turning a ballad of desperation into a snappy , clappy 70s dance club opus ( running time 10 : 28 ! ) infused with enough Latin flamenco fire to melt those platform shoes . I dread disco , but this version has enough crossover appeal into now-retro genres to hold up very well , and as such provides quintessential QT quirk appeal . A track I never would suspect I'd like , but has become a favorite - - that's a good soundtrack . Other tracks are short-term fun ( the sound effects and dialogue bits ) , but wear thin much more quickly than the best music ever will . Agreed with other reviewers : I dig the music behind Ode to O-Ren Ishii , but RZA's wrap over it is quite sloppy - - that guy needs to back up off the mic , for one thing . But still , I enjoy the musical tension between the hip hop and the delicate orchestration underneath enough to give it a pass . . . your mileage may vary . Inclusion of Issac Hayes ' and Al Hirt's tracks are fun treats , and Zamfir's The Lonely Shepherd will definitely grow on you as his brand name kitsch-appeal gives way to the track's effective usage in the film . Crane / White Lightning has some electro-hipness and drive to it , but it fails to develop power or meaning over repeated listening for me - - in contrast to much of this CD . Overall : a solid , stinging slice of funk and fury . Certainly in the best of 2003 . Here's to Volume 2 !
        • 001 4  Since we have quite a wait for the DVD ( as of this writing ) , the best way to experience some of our favorite moments from KILL BILL at home is to get this CD . The opening song performed by Nancy Sinatra is here , along with Luis Bacalov's The Grand Duel theme , heard in the film during the animated Origin of O-Ren chapter . Bernard Herrmann's Twisted Nerve is here ( begun in the film as the tune Daryl Hannah whistles in the hospital corridor ) . Al Hirt's rendition of Flight of the Bumblebee , better known as the theme from The Green Hornet , is on board ( heard in the film accompanying the Bride's flight over Tokyo and arrival in Japan ) , as is Tomoyasu Hotei's Battle Without Honor or Humanity , the guitar riff and brass fanfare heard over the grand entrance of O-Ren and her party at the House of Blue Leaves ( and used quite memorably in the film's first trailer ) . The Flower of Carnage , the theme song from LADY SNOWBLOOD ( 1973 ) sung by its star , Meiko Kaji , and heard in the film following the O-Ren / Bride sword duel , is on the CD as well . Some great cues from the film are not on the CD or not presented as they were in the film . Missing in action is Ennio Morricone's memorable percussion-woodwind-and-vocal Italian western theme , Death Rides a Horse , heard as the Bride and O-Ren first confront each other in the House of Blue Leaves . Also missing is the Lily Chou-Chou number , Kaifuku Suru Kizu , the enchanting wordless vocal heard as the Bride gazes at the array of swords in Sonny Chiba's upstairs room . Only one number ( Woo Hoo ) of the three or so performed by the Japanese female pop trio , the 5.6.7.8 ' s , in the House of Blue Leaves sequence is on the CD . The Latin-flavored instrumental number heard over the O-Ren / Bride duel and performed by Santa Esmeralda is suddenly a vocal rendition of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood on the CD . Seven Notes in Black , heard during the Bride's ambush of the hospital orderly , is heard on the CD only under a rap song performed by the RZA , a number not heard in the film at all . ( In fact , one wonders how the Original Music credit awarded to The RZA came about , since there doesn't seem to be any original music in the film . ) It's clearly time for a number of record companies to get on the KILL BILL bandwagon and reissue soundtracks and recordings that contain music from KILL BILL with a tag slapped on saying , Featuring the music from KILL BILL . The first candidate would , of course , be Nancy Sinatra's 1966 album , How Does That Grab You ? which contains the recording of Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) used for the opening credits of KILL BILL . All it needs now is a tag stating , Featuring the theme song from KILL BILL . The second and third candidates , of course , would be anything by the 5.6.7.8 ' s and the fictional Lily Chou-Chou . Calling all imports !
        • 002 4  As much as Kill Bill was a terrific movie , the soundtrack contains some really good pieces , a couple of which are worth buying the whole CD for . While there are some odd pieces here and there , particularly the ' ode to o-ren-ishii ' , a fairly annoying rap , and ' queen of the crime council ' which is dialogue lifted from the movie , the rest of the songs really describe the feel of the movie and are excellent to listen to . The song ' Bang Bang ' is the opening theme of the movie and is very easy on the ears , with a soft , sad , melodic tune . Track 2 is ' That certain female ' which sounds like an elvis song , but nothing too spectacular . ' The grand duel ' is a very moving song that is played during the anime sequence in the movie . When this song reaches toward the middle it gets very dramatic and emotional . ' Twisted Nerve ' is the whistling song in the hospital , and is also very good coupled with the subtle orchestral tones . Too bad its only a minute and twenty seven seconds long . The next two are the ' oddities ' I mentioned , and after that its ' Run fay run ' and ' green hornet ' , both of which , while not as good as the next two songs that follow it , are still very 70s in their tune which is what the film tries to capture . ' Battle without honor or humanity ' and ' Don't let me be misunderstood ' are my two favorite tracks , the former being the bit where O ren ishii and her group walk toward the House of Blue leaves dance square . Its a very authoritative and badass song that also has a 70s feel to it and I love it . The latter is an extremely catchy and lengthy tune ( at 10 minutes ) , part of which is played during the final fight in Kill Bill . It sounds very much like a latino song but , again , has that 70s touch to it , with fast guitar and trumpet rhythms . Next up is ' woo hoo ' , the song played by the japanese band in the House of Blue Leaves . A very very 60s - 70s-ish dance song that you might not want to play in a room full of today's teen generation , but still strangely attractive in its tune . Next is ' Crane / white lightning ' which I think was played during the climactic fight of the movie which is heavy on the synthesizers and sounds very tense . ' The flower of carnage ' is a melodic japanese song that best describes O-ren ishii's character . ' The lonely shephard ' is the movie's closing theme that , like ' the grand duel ' , has a very moving tune done mostly in flute . ' You're my wicked life ' is another dialogue bit from the movie , which more or less prepares you for the next half of it . The rest of the soundtrack are brief bits of musical effects used throughout the movie , labeled by the CD case as ' kung fu stings and sfx ' . All in all this is an excellent soundtrack that features a a number of great songs that definitely keep with the whole feel of the movie . Highly recommended .
        • 003 4  The movie is good , but the soundtrack is terrific outstanding ! The carefulness and cleverness to use of various songs and music for this movie are truly amazing . This soundtrack drives audiences to the right mood , the right tone , and the right atmosphere . It really takes you to immerse into the story , to feel the atmosphere , and to sample the bride's feelings . Like the song Bang Bang ( My baby shut me down ) sets you up the exact tone of the bride's sadness . And the Twisted Nerve builds an anchor into the audience mind . Whenever hearing whispering , you will think of the nurse coming to kill the Bride in the hospital . Other songs and music like Run Fay Run , Green Hornet , Battle Without Honor or Humanity , and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood vividly lead you to the peak of your emotion along with the fighting scenes in the movie . Last but not least , the Japanese song The Flower Carnage sadly ends the life of O-Ren who got killed by the Bride in the Crazy - 88 battle . I haven't seen such a real outstanding soundtrack for a long while . This is a no doubt FIVE-STAR TWO-THUMBS-UP quality . Besides the music , the soundtrack CD comes with couple bonus video clips from the Kill Bill vol .1 movie as well . Overall , highly recommend !
        • 004 4  Curiously , the liner only has lyrics for Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra and Flower of Carnage by Meiko Kaji . That's really the point , though . Tarantino wrote the film to be a struck down woman exacts revenge on her would-be assassins . What more do you need ? The lyrics to the other songs are really pointless , except for The Rza's Ode to Oren Ishii , but the small background music makes it easy to understand . There's a little bit of rockabilly that only Elvis people can appreciate : Charlie Feathers ' That Certain Female and Woo Hoo by the 5.6.7.8 ' s just make you want to get up and boogie . Those of you who noticed the yellow tracksuit should be pleased to know that the Theme Song to The Green Hornet is on this CD . Yep , this is all about Lee exacting revenge on Carradine . Besides the Sinatra and Kaji tracks , the other two that really set things off are The Lonely Shepherd by Zamfir and The Grand Duel by Luis Bacalov . Both feel like they belong in a Sergio Leone film , except they borrow from other styles : The Lonely Shepherd has a Mexican / SW flavor as it builds , and The Grand Duel starts off with an Asian flavor . The cool thing is you can almost see the carnage , smell the blood and hear the steel slice through flesh when listening to it , especially after watching the trailers . The number one reason to own this CD : the theatrical trailers . There's the teaser that played before Gangs of New York as well as two full trailers that you can only see on this CD and in theaters . ( The Full Trailer at Quicktime is much different than either of these . ) The kicker : the Quentin Tarantino Bootleg trailer uses similar shots to what one would see in the trailer to Sergio Leone's The Good , The Bad , and The Ugly . It seems like a shot-for-shot remake of that trailer , except they use Kill Bill footage .
        • 005 4  Almost in spite of myself - - because I am really not much of a Quentin Tarantino fan - - I HIGHLY enjoyed this movie ! And one of the things I particularly liked about it was the marvelous soundtrack . So , naturally , I rushed to buy it . There are some incredible songs on this CD . Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang is so haunting that I keep singing it ; The Grand Duel makes me just want to see the movie all over again , as does Run Fay Run ( both of which are played in the anime sequence that cuts into the film , the background of Oren Ishii ) ; Twisted Nerve creeps me out deliciously ; I love Green Hornet ; Battle Without Honor or Humanity , Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood , and Crane / White Lightning are three of my favorites , though I almost wish that there WERE no words to Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood because it's so great with just the music ! ; Woo Hoo is funky and fun , even if it is a bit repetitive and strange ; The Flower of Carnage is also wonderful , as is The Lonely Shepherd , both of which ( especially the latter ) really remind me a lot of the Japanese culture ; and I'm glad they included the little excerpt , Ironside . That's a lot of tracks to be impressed with . However , there were also some disappointments . I wish they had included a few MORE tracks , in particular the one ( which I don't know the name of ) where Oren Ishii first sees Uma Thurman in the restaurant - - in the movie , it cuts into Woo Hoo . I was looking for that track ! It's got a great sound , and I wish they had included it . There were a couple of the other tracks during the massive fight scene at the end that I wish they had included on this . And as for a few of the other ones that they DID include . . . the most disappointing one was Ode to Oren Ishii . I absolutely ADORED that particular music in the movie , and then they went and superimposed this awful rap garbage over it , which in my opinion totally ruined it . Ordinarily , I don't mind rap all that much , and sometimes I even enjoy it , but NOT when it interferes with something else I'm trying to listen to ! And this particular rap I thought was frankly lousy . There are several extra tracks - - most of them under 10 seconds - - that are not actually included in the track listings on the back of the CD . ( Though I notice that amazon actually DOES list them all . ) I thought they were fairly unnecessary , but they don't really bother me too much , they mostly just seem superfluous and I think they should have taken that time used for those tracks and instead put something else there - - like that song where Oren first sees Uma . ; - ) It should be noted , there IS a parental advisory on this soundtrack , and with good reason . There are a couple of excerpts from the actual film , and the Queen of the Crime Council in particular is rather offensive and involves a nasty bit of language - - which personally I think is rather annoying for a soundtrack . There are plenty of people who might enjoy this soundtrack , even if they WOULDN'T have enjoyed the movie , and this track might ensure that some people won't even buy the soundtrack . Overall , I do enjoy this CD , in spite of its weaknesses . The tracks I like more than make up for the tracks I do NOT like , and maybe some of the tracks I'm missing will appear on the second volume , who knows . : - ) I would still recommend this as a good album to purchase - - just skip those tracks that don't appeal to you , and enjoy the rest of them .
        • 006 4  This is one weird soundtrack but before I go into that I need to reassure you that yes the fantastic music including the stings from the trailers is on this disc . It's called Battle without Honor or Humanity by Tomoyasu Hotei . I've watched the teaser trailer numerous times just for this music . The mix goes from the dulcet tones of Nancy Sinatra and Meizo Kaji to a ' man with no name ' whistle in the wilderness Ennio Morricone to some unnecessary profanity from track 5 . Most of the music is fun but one of the best parts of the disc apart from the above mentioned track 9 are the 3 previews . Buy it ! It's well worth the money .
        • 010 4  Much like that of the film , Kill Bill Volume 1 : The Soundtrack manages to pay homage to the essential elements of classic films . Opening with the famous Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) , and That Certain Female , Kill Bill Volume 1 quickly moves from Hollywood classics to trademarks of cult Japanese and Asian cinema . Easily the shining star of the album The Lonely Shepherd is an emotional pipe tune that is used to tremendous effect in the film as the opening to the chapter Showdown at House of Blue Leaves . Kill Bill Volume 1 manages to incorporate many different styles and genres while still being a cohesive whole . With the likes of the fast paced Green Hornet , the overwrought hit Battle without Honor or Humanity , the party track Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood and the slow sounds of The Flower of Carnage , Kill Bill Volume 1 could have easily found itself into the trying to be too much and therefore doesn't work category . Like the film , these various elements come together and DO work . But , as you may have guessed from my 4 out of 5 star rating , this collection is not perfect . One element that doesn't work for me is the script samples from the film . The only thing that tracks such as Queen of the Crime Council , and You're My Wicked Life do is mean that I wouldn't play this album to my family , which I would otherwise be quite happy to do . As someone has already pointed out , the Crime Council track is the only one that justifies the album a Parental Advisory label . Another track that doesn't come off for me is Ode to Oren Ishii . I'm a fan of other RZA work , the Samurai-HipHop thing worked well in Ghost Dog but doesn't fare so well here . As far as I know this track doesn't appear in the film ( correct me if I'm wrong ) . Most of the sound effects don't do anything for me , except for the classic Ironside sample . All of these gripes however , would be forgotten if one more track had been included in the collection . Death Rides a Horse , appearing at one of the most tense scenes in the film , is unfortunatly missing from the soundtrack . Overall this is a great album , its strongest appeal will be with those who are fans of the film . I suggest anyone who is a big fan of cinema in general , especially to asian cinema fans that they have a listen to this album . Chances are you won't be disappointed .
        • 012 4  This is a good soundtrack for a great movie , but many of the tracks sound terrible ! The quiet , vocal version of Bang Bang has a loud and annoying hiss in the background , with some noise at the beginning and end for good measure . Flower of Carnage has the same problem , and it's audible in The Grand Duel as well . Twisted Nerve was destroyed by amplifying and then reducing the volume . Green Hornet is overamplified to the point that it's painful to listen to , and White Lightning has the same problem , although less so . Battle without Honor sounds good , as does Woo Hoo . The Lonely Shepherd and the RZA tracks seem okay as well . It's up to you to decide whether these tracks are enough to make up for the rest . What a crime that a good album like this was maimed by ham-handed production .
        • 013 4  A good soundtrack gives the listener all the integral music from the film's most important scenes , and helps the listener relieve those scenes away from the theatre . A great soundtrack does this while managing to fit almost all the music and actually deliver them in order of the film . Not exactly gospel criteria , but this is how I organize my soundtracks , and Kill Bill Vol . 1 is a great disc . Any fans of the film will enjoy this disc simply because most of all the important tracks are on here . Highlights definately include Nancy Sinatra's murder ballad ' Bang Bang ' ( played during the opening credits after that first chilling scene ) tracks 9 and 10 ( played during the House of Blue Leaves massacre ) and the great Twisted Nerve , which Daryl Hannah's character whistles on her way in an attempt to dispatch a prone Uma Thurman . Also prime tracks are The Grand Duel ( a great Morricone'esque spaghetti western tune ) and The Flower of Carnage , a lovely little japanese tune played during a bittersweet scene from the film . My only complaint is the missing songs , such as the beautiful hymn-like tune played during Uma Thurman's attaining her sword , but it's understandable not being able to fit everything here . Instead , we are granted all the trailers accessable on the CD , including the Bootleg trailer , containing footage from Vol . 2 ! Personally , i loved this CD and readily anticipate the sequel .
        • 016 4  Two immediate signs of this soundtrack's success even months after KB Vol . 1 ' s release : it makes me yearn to see the first DVD as much as theatrical Vol .
        • 017 4  This CD is great . It includes many of the Songs from the film , however there are just as many songs on the CD as there are ones missing from the film . Similar to the Pulp Fiction Soundtrack , this one includes tracks of pure dialogue that is fun to listen to . There are also hidden tracks included on this CD to look out for ! The song everyone has been ranting and raving about that is played at the beginning to the final fight scene is not included on the CD . This song is by Ennio Morricone - Death Rides a Horse . Hope that helps anyone who has been looking for it . There is also a previous listing of more tracks from another reviewer .
        • 018 4  I knew what I was getting into when I bought this . I knew some of the music may not exactly fit into the genres I like . . . but I've got an open mind . The whistle tune is here , and several others you'll recognize , plus some soundbites from the movie . It's a good cd , but it's even better once you go to www.killbill2 . net and download the songs that aren't on the album , then you will be complete .
        • 019 4  Hi teenager , You asked what song plays in the background when lucy liu and uma thurman fight in the snowy garden , the one that sounds like hands clapping ? It's featured on the soundtrack : Santa Esmeralda ( ft . Leroy Gomez ) - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood . Great song . Enjoy !
        • 020 4  While not the best soundtrack for a Quentin Tarantino film - - both Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction far outshine this one - - Kill Bill , Volume 1 shows that , once again , Tarantino is highly gifted when it comes to assembling a soundtrack that plays off his passions , showcases his sense of humor , and stands as an enjoyable companion piece to the film , even enjoyed on its own . The soundtrack , like the film , opens with Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang , a song that if it hadn't been performed by an artist whose biggest successes were four decades ago , one would think had been written specifically for the film , as it perfectly captures the theme and underlying tragic tone . As it is , it's a great example of Tarantino's obsessive love of pop culture trivia and a willingness to cram together eclectic , even lunatic , disparate influences . Likewise , the soundtrack shows off his smart alec sense of humor , including his use of the Ironside theme song , used in the picture for the Bride's escape from the hospital when she does not have the use of her legs and is a wheelchair-bound refugee . The inclusion of the Green Hornet theme is another joke in the same vein . As always , Tarantino includes sound clips from the movie on this soundtrack . Unfortunately , unlike previous efforts , there are only two such clips on this album , and both of them are mix rather quietly , making it difficult to discern what the characters are saying without turning up the volume to a level that will blow out eardrums ( or perhaps even speakers ) when the music is resumed . This is also an enhanced CD , and includes three trailers . Note that , no matter what settings you change on Windows XP , the disc is determined to run its start up program whenever it's inserted into a computer , and stability issues may thus arise . Until the first edition appears on DVD , and the second volume appears in theaters , this soundtrack is the only additional Kill Bill material available . While it is not perfect , it's an enjoyable album in its own right , and a number of the tracks are good enough to one day make it onto a Quentin Tarantino's Greatest Soundtrack Hits album . Recommended for fans of Kill Bill eagerly awaiting the second half of the movie .
        • 021 4  Jenny2 , check out killbill2 . net and go to ' rare music ' . There you will find 8 tracks from the movie that aren't on the soundtrack . You can get them there as mp3 . Kill Bill is so different from Pulp Fiction , but i loved it too . And the soundtrack is also amazing . Everytime i listen to it i have to think of all the scenes in the movie . Wow ! Just awesome ! Can't wait to see Volume 2 .
        • 022 4  I'd like to start of by saying , this movie is probably one of the best ' revenge ' movies i've seen in a long long time , can't wait until vol .2 Now for the soundtrack , it's great , but the problem is , some of the tracks that can be so amazing are ruined by the lyrics that over power them . So I'm gonna seperate it into 4 sections to describe my feelings towards each track . 1 , 2 , 11 , 13 . they are all decent , I was expecting them to have lyrics since they did in the movie . 13 is my fav out of those four tracks . 6 , 10 . What ? These tracks have no need for lyrics , so why put have them ? ? ? Now since the lyrics are they're to ruin the wonderful instrumental music that it could of once been , these tracks are HORRIBLE ! WHY WHY WHY WHY ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Please don't do this on the next soundtrack , i want another track 10 to be without lyrics , so I can have some nice fighting music . . . . music to exercise too , instead I have to put up with some horrible singer , singing horrible lyrics ! And for 6 . . . . , as soon as you think the man speaking is about to break out a decent rap . . . nope . . . just ruins it even more , while in the end , the easy way out would of been . . . no over voices at all ! 3 , 4 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 12 , 14 . These are all awesome experimental instrumental tracks that give out a mood for each of it's own . These seven tracks make this cd worth the 15 - 20.99 dollars you have to spend to get it . specially 8 and 9 ! 5 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 - 22 . Yes there are a few secret 10 second sample tracks near the end . All and all , I don't mind these , atleast they're not inbetween every other track or so like the soundtrack to Once Upon a time in Mexico , which to me , just ruins the mood of the cd . So the count-down begins to see who's gonna be the first DJ to take these sample tracks from this cd and try to make them fit well with their cheesy club-mix-set . All in all . This soundtrack is worth the money just for the few good tracks that werent ruined by cheesy lyrics . Hopefully the Vol .2 soundtrack wont be the same . later
        • 023 4  I went to my first funeral recently and of course afterwards I was wondering what my own would be like . Apparently you have input in a few areas and one of them is music , and if I had my druthers I would like Battle Without Honor or Humanity by Tomoyasu Hotei playing as the casket is brought into the church . It would be nice if my eldest daughter dressed up like Gogo Yubari , but that would probably be a bit much . But right now that particular song has been playing on a continual loop in my mind and you can only play Chapter 13 of the Kill Bill , Volume 1 DVD ( which gives you Al Hirt's Green Hornet along with Battle Without Honor or Humanity ) so often and just listening to the little bit of the song on the main menu , after a bit of Twisted Nerve to set the stage , is sheer madness . But the real reason I picked up the soundtrack for Kill Bill , Volume 1 is so that I can play my song of the moment whenever I get into the car . Now , to be clear , while I am hooked on that one particular song and happy to discover that the song actually goes for a whole 2 : 28 , it is not the only primo track in the collection . The epic is a 10 : 30 version of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood / Esmeralda Suite by Santa Esmeralda starring Leroy Gomez . There there is Luis Bacalov's The Grand Duel and then James Last & Gheorghe Zamfir and his pan flute for The Lonely Shepherd ( 4 : 20 ) . Then for short bursts of fun there is Charlie Feathers ' That Certain Female , the whistling of Bernard Herrmann's Twisted Nerve , Al Hirt's Green Hornet , The 5,6,7,8 ' s Woo Hoo , and an excerpt from Quincy Jones ' theme for Ironside . Then we can mention that the whole thing starts with Nancy Sinatra doing the Sonny Bono song , Bang , Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) . For my money that is ten prime tracks , which for a soundtrack albums is absolutely outstanding . The only ones I have are , of course , Nancy Sinatra ( my favorite female vocalist from the Sixties if you must know ) , and the theme from Ironside ( I have a lot of CDs of television themes ) . Since this is a Quentin Tarantino film there are a few audio excerpts from the film , O-Ren Ishi's speech as Queen of the Crime Council and most of the final dialogue of the film when the Bride tells Sofie Fatale You're My Wicked Life ( which you will probably find ends too soon for your tastes ) . But Kill Bill is about stunning visuals and great music rather than unforgettable dialogue in the tradition of Pulp Fiction . In fact , if they had ditched the dialogue and added the two little bits of music that come at the start of the film before Nancy starts singing I would have been happier ( being nostalgic over the Feature Presentation music is what happens when you get old ) .
        • 026 4  This soundtrack is both really amazing and really disappointing . There are enough songs on it to make it worthwhile , however : 1 . There are probably about 20 minutes ( 3 - 6 songs ) that are left off that are in the movie . They're all really cool songs too . 2 . Instead you get a bunch of little shorts and sound effects . okay , maybe thats cool , but does it belong on a soundtrack ? ? ? ( eg . a 10 - second track of axe throw ) 3 . So all in all , you get about 30 minutes of good music . So buy the CD cheap .
        • 029 4  Great content , but you can't play it on your PC . Copy protection prevents this from being played on anything but plain old CD player . Seems pretty lame . . . It'd be nice to have that on the label . Don't buy it unless your OK with the CP . . . Regards
        • 031 4  From the opening somber melody of Bang Bang to the closing Flower of Carnage Kill Bill Vol . 1 is a terrific CD that will be totally worth your buy . the mood of the film is captured so perfectly in this ensemble of artists . if you see the film after listening to the soundtrack you will be saying to yourself wow this totally fits in , it sets the mood nancy sinatras bang bang is so quiet yet so pwerful and resounding . charlie feathers Johnny Cash attitude in the next track gives off a cool vibe . along with the songs there are so many instrumental pieces which sound so beautiful . the final lost sheperd is a flute piece that is astounding in how musically rich it is . and battle without honor or humanity has a perfect track to remember the film by with the sames fast and slow paces the films have . these are but a few descritions of the CD you have to listen to it a couple of times first to fully appreciate . there are songs you will remember but realize you love and there will be songs you never heard before which you will never want to stop playing a specific genre for this CD can't be found because no word describes the richness or diversity this soundtrack has . for a different sound of music buy this cd . you will not regret it
        • 033 4  If you've seen Kill Bill , Vol . 1 you've gotta know that the music in the movie is amazing . This soundtrack is so fun - especially if you're a fan of the film . I don't know if I would recommend this CD to everybody because most of this CD is instrumental and might be boring for some . But if you love the movie and / or love the music in it , this LP is so worth it . Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down by Nancy Sinatra is the 1st song played in the movie and 1st track on this CD . It's such a good song , lyrically and vocally . My other favourites include Twisted Nerve - played when Elle Driver walks down the hallway of the hospital - Woo Hoo by the 5.6.7.8 ' s , and Santa Esmeralda's Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood . My favourite part of the CD are the quotes taken from the movie and put into the CD ( Queen of the Crime Council & You're My Wicked Life ) , I only wish there were more .
        • 035 4  When I first bought this , after a couple of listens , it seemed like a novelty item without any real merit . I hadn't at the time realized how well Tarentino worked with music , and how integral a part of the film it was . After living with the soundtrack for awhile , then re-watching the movie , a lot of the tracks took on a new value . Some of them sound good to begin with - the long cover of ' Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood , ' the decadent ' Battle Without Honor or Humanity , ' and the eerily perfect ' The Lonely Shepherd , ' but many of them are also notable for their ability to evoke scenes from the movie . ' The Green Hornet Theme , ' ' The Grand Duel ' and especially ' The Flower of Carnage ' are perfectly suited to their scenes , and the musical backdrop from ' Ode to O-Ren ' ( which is sort of an amusing track in its own right ) is used to excellent effect in the hospital scene . All of this really highlights the brilliance and intricacy of Kill Bill ; it's like a mediation on the movie . My only complaint , aside from the fact that there are only a few songs here which are really strong on their own merit , is that one of the best pieces in the movie , the chanting that plays when the Bride chops off Sophie's arm , isn't included ( it's Morricone's ' Death Rides a Horse , ' according to another review here ) .
        • 037 4  I love this soundtrack ; think it's one of the best albums I've bought in ages . . . but what with the number of songs that were in the movie or affiliated with the movie , or whatever , that AREN'T on the disc . . . I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that maybe what QT and his posse are planning is to release TWO volumes of music for volume 1 of the movie ( sort of similiar to what they did for the movie 8 Mile , the first disc being songs inspired by the movie , the second being the songs actually IN the movie ) , and then two volumes of music for volume 2 . It's a shot in the dark , but a possible one . I for sure would pay for another volume similiar to this collection . It's top notch , like pretty much everything else in the Tarantinoverse . : )
        • 039 4  If you've seen the movie and enjoyed it for the revenge / action flick it is , then the soundtrack will not disappoint . This is a great soundtrack , almost all of the great songs from the movie , including the original songs . I like all the tracks except for one ( Ode to Oren Ishii ) . There is also great mix of genres on this album too . And as an added bonus the soundtrack is enhanced for computers , it includes all the full trailers for the movie . Kill Bill : The Original Soundtrack is an achievement of great proportions . Whether you're making the always wise purchase to pick up a Tarantino based movie soundtrack or you're just in for some hip , less mainstream , qualities , and musical delight . Either way , pick it up . I cannot stress enough that this isn't for everyone due to the wild sounds and grooving emotions are for the selected few . Overall , I absolutely loved the soundtrack , and even if you haven't seen the movie , you should still think about getting it . For the fans of this movie , Kill Bill Vol . 1 is worth having .
        • 040 4  After seeing Kill Bill Vol . 2 , I made it a case and point to buy the soundtrack , only to realize the soundtracks were cut into two seperated cds . So thus , I went on and bought Kill Bill Vol . 1 ' s soundtrack first . I've been a very happy girl ever since . There are definately songs that will leaving you humming for a few days , if not weeks , after you first here them : 1 . Bang , Bang 5 / 5 While it may be a shorter track , it definately reflects the mood of the beginning of the movie in sorts . All and all , a rather nice song . 2 . That Certain Female 2 / 5 Not exactly one of my favorites tracks . . . 3 . The Grand Duel ( Parte Prima ) 6 / 5 This is , in my opinion , the best track on the album . . . or rather both albums . It's a beautiful piece of music and just sets a mood . . . a rather somber , sad mood , but can still be up beat enough to listen to . ( To me ) It definately goes great with the part when it's played . I get shivers ever single time I hear it and love to hum the melody . It's just . . . wow . . . Definately worth buying the soundtrack for . . . 4 . Twisted Nerve 5 / 5 Another short be excellent song . Haunting is a good word to describe this track . The whistling was excellent and the music that accompanies it later sets the mood . Another one of my favorites , to say the least . For those of you that bought the first KB Vol . 1 DVD , this is the song that is played when you first get to the select screen . 5 . Queen of the Crime Council 2 / 5 Funnier to watch then hear when this is being said . . . exactly not really cause at the end , it just makes you raise an eyebrow . . . it sounds so weird and really needed to be said differently . . . 6 . Ode to Oren Ishii 3 / 5 I didn't care for this one too much . 7 . Run Fay Fun 4 / 5 Hey , I liked it . . . . 8 . Green Hornet 5 / 5 Think of Flight of the Bumblebee , only with a little spark to and fun . And even if you're not too fond of Flight of the Bumblebee . . . dont ' turn your nose at this track . It's still listen worthy . 9 . Battle Without Honor or Humanity 6 / 5 An awsome track , espically the beginning . Definately a song you'll want to listen to . Again , a great reason to by this soundtrack . The music heard in one of the trailers . . . which is awsome because most good songs heard in trailers aren't offered on the soundtrack . 10 . Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood 4 / 5 All and all , a good soundtrack . I'm . . . rather found of clapping to the beginning as well . . . ; ) 11 . Woo Hoo 4 / 5 Though it does sound better on the movie , I just like saying Woo-Hoo , Woo wo Hoo . . . Still , good song . 12 . Crane-White Lightning 2 / 5 Um . . . no . Avoid most RZA tracks . I mean really . . . AVOID them . . . ( There's only four , thank goodness . . . ) 13 . The Flower of Carnage 6 / 5 A beautiful song . Definately worth your listening pleasure . 14 . You're My Wicked Life 4 / 5 Even though this is another dialogue track , I just like the sound of David Carradine's voice . . . There are seven more tracks to the soundtrack but I'm deciding to stop at fourteen . The other tracks are rather good as well however . All and all , give buying this soundtrack a serious thought . There are definately some tracks worth buying it for .
        • 041 4  Pulp Fiction meets the Shaw Brothers and the Shogun Assassin . What kind of tunes are you gonna get with that trio ? However , the music does match very well to the movie . Nancy Sinatra's song , Bang Bang is used almost as a narrative to the opening . What makes the soundtrack for me are two tracks . Hotei Tomoyasu Battle without Honor or Humility . This is the music played on the trailer . In the movie , it has been given special treatment . The track is played during a Reservoir Dogs like slo-mo walk which only adds coolness with cool . However , for something super special that cannot be found anywhere , except here , is Super 16 ' s NEU ! . Although it was hardly played in the movie , I am so overjoyed that it was included in the soundtrack . This song was the original theme music for Master of the Flying Guilliotine . Whenever , the Master was on screen , this music was heard . It is so classic and super super cool .
        • 042 4  The soundtracks for Kill Bill I and II are ok . They have their moments . But overall Tarantino films aren't about the soundtrack , they're about the story and the people in them . Tarantino uses his soundtracks as a sort of subliminal plot device . They're all kind of homages to other moments in other films and shows , just like the visuals in any Tarantino flick . For example , the ads for Red Apple cigarettes in the airport in Japan , referring back to the Red Apple cigarettes in Pulp Fiction . His soundtracks are really not so much about the music , as they are about adding into the story . So apart from the few good musical moments ( Bang Bang , Battle Without Honour or Humanity , etc . ) , there aren't a whole lot of things that are specifically about the films . Pulp Fiction soundtrack was the same . It just seems like the marketing machine nattering at Tarantino saying We MUST have a soundtrack to flog ! ! And stuffed Uma Thurman and David Carradine toys ! And the Kill Bill Speak'n'Spell that only spits out four letter words for the kiddies ! . Marketing knows no boundaries or reality . : - P
        • 043 4  I really enjoyed the way Tarantino synched up the scored music for both Vol 1 and 2 of Kill Bill . The two soundtracks are great but there's a lot of chaff mixed in ( The RZA's Ode to O'Ren ? ? ? ) The intro music in the movie when Uma hacks off Sophie's arm in the Inn of BLue Leaves is also missing . But overall the album is good and it's impressive the Tarantino was able to do so well with so many newly-scored songs ( Battle without honor or humanity is excellent ) along with his usual cadre of old and underappreciated pieces from radio and movies ( Zamophir ! ? How the hell did he make Zamphir , Master of the Pan Flute , fit so damn nicely into the movie and soundtrack ? ) . Well worth a purchase , along with Vol . 2 . Peter Ward
        • 047 4  The films of Quentin Tarantino have always had strong soundtracks to back-up the witty , quirky , violent material and Kill Bill Vol . 1 is no different . Some might even argue that this soundtrack surpasses the previous Tarantino classic , Pulp Fiction . Kill Bill works in both aspects of a great soundtrack : You can't help but picture the images from the film while listening to the music but you can also appreciate the material as just pure songs . The album mixes instrumentals with classic performances and you even get some dialogue from the movie ( and a few sound effects as a bonus ) . The set opens with Nancy Sinatra's mournful , stylish Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) which displays her timeless voice stripped of strings and Lee Hazelwood's creepy voice and left to carry you along with the almost funeral-like electric guitar notes . The Grand Duel by Luis Bacalov has a western edge to it , almost with an Ennio Morricone flavor . Bernard Herrmann's Twisted Nerve is the catchy , famous whistle Darryl Hannah performs walking down a hospital hallway . There is enough diversity in this album to please even fans of oriental pop with The Flower Of Carnage and easy listening types with James Last's immortal The Lonely Sheperd . There are little curiosities here like the 5,6,7,8 ' s who do Woo Hoo with a surfer rocker flare that makes this basically senseless tune fun . Rapper RZA pops in with some techno / score music that takes us back to the Bride looking over the Crazy 88 ' s with her Hatori Hanzo sword . What the soundtrack to Kill Bill proves is that Tarantino is a director of surprisingly impressive tastes when it comes to choosing the music for his films . Watch the movie and listen to the CD , they're both awesome experiences in this age of lame commercial filmmaking .
        • 048 4  The soundtracks of the Kill Bill series succeed in what Tarantino attempted to accomplish : A mix of the Samurai Epic and the Spaghetti Western . The wide variety of sound brought forth on this platter will at the very least put a grin on your face . Its definitely a special mixture that ranges from the hyper get-in-your-head anthems of the 5 ' s , 6 ' s , 7 ' s and 8 ' s to the Karate Kid style pan flute of Zamfir . As everyone is entitled to a favorite , mine is the opening theme sung by Nancy Sinatra . Its a hauting , somber tune that I find myself singing out of the clear blue . A definite for lovers of Tarantino's unique mix of the senses . The enhanced version is by far the one to own . ~ saos ~
        • 051 4  I'll make this quick , excellent soundtrack . . I just wanted to point out that the track called Super 16 is an excerpt from track of the same name by a ' 70s German rock band called Neu ! . I'm assuming Tarantino used it in Kill Bill because it was used in the soundtrack to Master of the Flying Guillotine , a great martial arts film . It was the theme music whenever the Master appeared in the film .
        • 052 4  How can you not love Nancy Sinatra cooing ( Sony Bono's ) Bang , Bang ( My baby shot me down ) ; Al Hirt's impossible trumpeting of the Theme from the Green Hornet or the amazingly accessible 10 minute long version of Santa Esmerelda's Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood ? I was also pleased to be introduced to the retro styling of The 5,6,7,8 ' s and Tomoyasu Hotei's modern big band sounds . The rest of the soundtrack is a cool reminder of this masterful flick but the 5 songs I mention are worth the price of this CD .
        • 058 4  First off , I'd like to correct one of the other users who said that the CD could not be played on your PC . I'm listening to the Kill Bill soundtrack on my PC as I speak , so he must be wrong . Secondly I'd like to say to everyone who enjoyed this incredible film , to go and buy the soundtrack ( that is if you like the music from the movie . ) I don't understand these users who go out , see the movie , and then buy the soundtrack and are disappointed by the music . Well if you didn't like the music from the movie , why'd you buy the CD ? Well enough of my ranting . 10 / 10
        • 059 4  Ever since I got this soundtrack , I've been pretty much listening to it as much as I can . The mood of the soundtrack goes along with the film very well , and I really enjoy it . Sadly , some songs I enjoy are not on the soundtrack ( Such as ' From Man To Man ' by Ennio Morricone and ' Nobody But Me ' by The Human Beinz ) . But thankfully I downloaded them and put them onto my MD Player . If you are a fan of Tarantino soundtracks , you may enjoy this one . I enjoy most of the soundtrack , but there are some songs I do not care for . Favorite Tracks : * The Grand Duel - ( Parte Prima ) ( Luis Bacalov ) * Nobody But Me * ( The Human Beinz ) * Run Fay Run ( Isaac Hayes ) * The Lonely Shepard ( Zamfir ) * Green Hornet ( Al Hirt ) * Battle Without Honor Or Humanity ( Tomoyasu Hotei ) * The Flower Of Carnage ( Meiko Kaji ) * Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood ( Santa Esmeralda ) * Twisted Nerve ( Bernard Hermann ) * Seven Notes In Black * ( Vince Tempera ) * Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) ( Nancy Sinatra ) * Long Day Of Vengeance * ( Armando Travajoli ) * From Man To Man ( Death Rides A Horse ) * ( Ennio Morricone ) * Urami-Bushi * ( Meiko Kaji ) Least Favorite Tracks : * Ode To O-Ren ( Annoying rap song by The RZA ) * Any SFX Track ( Hidden ) * Queen Of The Crime Council ( Dialogue Snippet ) * You're My Wicked Life ( Dialogue Snippet ) * Woo Hoo ( The 5.6.7.8 . ' s ) ( Sounds better in the film ) * Ironside ( Quincy Jones ) ( Doesn't fit the mood of the soundtrack IMO ) * Means Not On OST Overall , a nice collection of songs . if you enjoy the film , I bet you will also enjoy the soundtrack .
        • 060 4  If you have seen the movie , you know that the audio component is a sheer joy . This cd , as a packaging of that 5 + star sheer joy , is lacking and imperfect , not up to the standards of the movie . Here is what makes it flawed . A : It is missing at least 2 standout tracks that I very much want to listen to separate from the film : 1 ) the Chinese Battle Music that plays during the Bride's fight with the Crazy 88 ' s . The timpani , strumming , and crazy asian chanting are just absolutely delicious . this should not have been one of the first things to go if they needed to make room . 2 ) Missing the angelic music that plays during the scene where the Bride views the collection of Honzo swords . A very pretty songs that I would have liked to have on the cd . Other gripes : B ) The rapping by RZA ( who generally did a teriffic job composing here ) on ode to Oren Ishii is not good at all . The score as it is in the movie would have been fine . Instead , they changed the track , and it actually is painful to listen to him rap over the beautiful bit of music . I have nothing against rap , it's just not good . I feel like I can hear him trying to think up rrhytms and rhymes and missing a number of them . Someone should have noticed this and said , tis isn't up to par , either do another rap or we'll leave it isntrumental as in the movie . I have no other real gripes except that the sequence is not chronological and it doesn't sound especially wonderful in the sequence they have it , so I'm not sure what the point of putting it out of seuqnece is . Also , the dialogue tracks are not really necessary . If they were to be icluded , this should have been chronological and they should have been inserted at approriate points . On the whole , this film has a wonderful soundtrack . Unfortunately , whoever produced this cd did a job of packaging it which I feel is really quite mediocre . The graphics and all are quite nice . The disc itself is rather poorly composed .
        • 061 4  First to answer a question : The song for Oren's entrance is 9 - Battle without honor or humanity . I love this one too . Perfect replacement for graduation's Pomp and Circumstance , ugh . Now to rip Quentin . What the heck are you smoking ? ! ? ! This CD could have been so good . No Urami Bushi , my fav . song in Vol . 1 . Then this guy puts it in Vol . 2 . Except he F-it up by putting this stupid RZA guy rapping on crap into that same track ! ! ! That's right folks , a beautiful Japanese song , appended with . . my japanese . . b * * * , sucking * * * , giving * * * * in Vol . 2 soundtrack . The whole reason for the excplicit lyric is that RZA . Now I have to re-cut Urami Bushi . Thanks Quentin ! ! ! And if you want a preview of RZAcrap , he's also in Vol . 1 talkin nonsense . And if the excuse for vol .1 is there is not enough time in the CD , well . . why the heck did he put a 10min version of Don't Let me be Misunderstood ? This track breaks the whole CD . This CD could have been a 5star for me , but this is total screw up . I'm not dissing the songs , just the coke head making the decisions . and yeah , lose RZA . I know he's your friend , but please . it's totally out of place . Here's my advice . Get the music , one way or another . But don't buy this CD if you can . Download the songs you want . Borrow from a friend . Or just rip the songs off the DVD . It'll be much better . And you'll remember it just the way it was in the movie . ( . . . )
        • 062 4  STAND-OUT TRACKS : the Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood remix . Over 10 minutes of a high-end-Vegas-show style number . On its own and apart from the movie , one can almost picture an extravagant stage show to follow along with it . Run Fay Fun by Isaac Hayes . This disco / funk tune should be every bad-a * * ' s theme song when entering a room . Battle Without Honor or Humanity by Tomoyasu Hotei . What's used as the theme song for the film trailers . The Flower of Carnage by Meiko Kaji . Probably only because this song's style evokes nostalgic memories for me , as my parents watched old Japanese TV programs in the ' 70s and the year-long samurai-era maxi-series that Tarantino even references in the making of Kill Bill ( and from which actor Sonny Chiba gained fame ) . UNNECESSARY GARBAGE : I'll have to side with most other reviewers and state that Ode to Oren-Ishii is pretty worthless . Hip-hop is one thing , but mushmouthed amateurish rhymes only serves to detract from the quirky nostalgic mood set by the rest of the album and by Tarantino's attraction to the kitschy . If RZA was coherent and clever , I might have a different opinion . ENHANCEMENTS : The enhanced-CD features only include three film trailers in QuickTime format with a splashy switchboard interface . Nothing spectacular . OVERALL : A fun CD for fans of Tarantino's off-the-beaten-path style and flair for nostalgia .
        • 063 4  iPod owners fear not . . . This CD is perfectly able to be ripped onto your hard drive and put into your iPod . This disc is NOT copy protected as stated in previous reviews .
        • 065 4  I was once told that the music in a movie can be the determining factor of whether the movie bombs or succeeds . I disagree ( there are many movies that have great soundtracks , but the movies are still lame ) . Kill Bill was not a lame movie . Kill Bill was excellent and the music complemented it accordingly . After seeing the movie , I was so excited to get the soundtrack , and it didn't disappoint . The soundtrack is terrific . The music moves you . Different tracks have different tempos and beats , but all are wonderful and serve their purposes wonderfully ( in the film and in my cd player ) . I can listen to this any time of day .
        • 067 4  This review is from : Kill Bill : Volume 1 ( Audio CD ) I recommend this CD for anyone captivated by the movie ; it's great from beginning to end with one notable exception . The CD contains the entire tracks of several pieces of music that are only heard in excerpt in the actual movie , including a 10 - minute version of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood ( which kinda gets old after a while , but overall it's a cool tune ) . Battle without Honor or Humanity is the instrumental played when Oren Ishii and her personal bodyguards ( including Gogo , the bodyguard dressed as a Japanese schoolgirl ) are walking in slow-motion as they enter the House of Blue Leaves ( one of my favorite scenes in the movie , for some reason ) . Flower of Carnage is , despite its title , a beautiful ballad in Japanese . ( I wonder how the lyrics translate ? ) The only track on the CD that I dislike ( and I strongly dislike it ) is Ode to Oren Ishii by RZA , which is a rap song about Oren that sounds like it was written by a five-year-old , so lame are the lyrics . I wanna dedicate this song right here to O-Ren Ishii , Half Chinese / Half Japane-see , Half American . Half Chinese , half Japanese , half American . . . is that mathematically possible ? And ryhming Ishii with Japane-see - - is Japane-see a real word ? Sorry , but the song annoys me ! My only other quibble is with the sound effects at the end of the CD ( axe throws and sword swings ) : they don't sound like axe throws and sword swings ; rather , they merely sound like electronic noise , which clearly works fine in the movie , but at only a very few seconds each these little sound bytes don't add anything to the CD . I'm complaining too much , though - - 95 percent of the CD is terrific , so I say buy it !

        • 070 4  This review is from : Kill Bill : Volume 1 ( Audio CD ) Has some good catchy songs that are fun to listen to . Also some unexpected monologues from the movie and some that weren't included in the movie . This makes the CD perhaps a bit less listenable as a whole . All in all pretty good though .
        • 073 4  This review is from : Kill Bill : Volume 1 ( Audio CD ) Malaguena ! ( SP ? ) . ( Confused this with my other review for Kill Bill II ) . Like the Kill Bill I CD , the Kill Bill II CD is sublime . Also , I tried to find them on iTUNES but could not . This is better though because I have the CD with the case and it could make a nice party gift .

        • 082 4  Felt like I was watching the movie instead of Listening to it . most enjoyable .
        • 091 4  After watching vol .1 , I got into an obsession ^ _ _ ^ ; ; I immediately bought this soundtrack and am in looooove with it ! all the songs in the movie were perfect for the scenes and the songs themselves are really impressive ! I've watched vol .2 but am still trying to find enough money to buy it U _ _ U . . . for the question of where the flower of carnage is played . . . it's towards the end . right after The Bride kills O-ren ( she goes and sits on that bench ) .
        • 095 4  tracks 3 , 13 , & 14 are reason enough to own this cd . actually , it's worth it just for 14 . 4 , 7 , 8 & 9 are definite bonuses to the core tracks , and the omissions of other music from the film is minimal ( a bit of the anime sequence is not here , etc . ) . i was annoyed with RZA until i found that there really is a groove , and that it's ferocious ( though it does not compare with the other lyric tracks . except for 10 , which should not have lyrics at all . ) from 3 : 55 to about 6 : 12 on track 10 is the music from duel in the snow . if this movie hit you harder than tarantino's early work , and you want the music from its most potent moments , here it is . mostly .
        • 097 4  This soundtrack just blew me away when I saw the movie - so Tarantino , and simultaneously so specific to the movie . The music of this movie really sets the tone of the whole thing , and for good reason - the music is almost invariably upbeat , and when it's not , it's often simply beautiful . If you liked the movie , you'll definitely like the soundtrack , as it invokes a sense of the movie . Even if you aren't one for blood and gore , this album has some great music , and I suggest you give it a listen . Bang Bang , Green Hornet and The Flower of Carnage are my favorite tracks , though it's hard to choose .
        • 099 4  I was really reluctant to see this movie , but now I've become a fan of Tarantino . Flying limbs aside ( pardon ) , this movie is a true work of art ; the movie's overall direction is phenomenal ( of course it's Tarantino ! ) , not to mention the choice of music is near perfect . Most of the songs on this CD are eerily mesmerizing especially the ones by Nancy Sinatra and Meiko Kaji ( you might get goosebumps occasionally , but that is part of the thrill ) . And you'll find that you'll be playing this CD in your car , at your home stereo , and on your computer . Need I say more ?
        • 102 4  You know want to know one of the reasons why Tarantino's films are so great ? The soundtrack . He - - knows - - his - - music . Once again , he delievers us with a great soundtrack for Kill Bill . In my first listen , it was good , but AFTER I watched the film , it was even better . Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang is hauntily terrific . The upbeat song Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood , by Santa Esmeralda , the head bobbing Battle Without Honor or Humanity is also a terrific track . Can I also add that I really like The 5,6,7,8 ' s ! Where have I been ? ! I need to go to Japan ! Also , if you like The Green Hornet , you will enjoy this soundtrack . : )
        • 108 4  Of course it doesn't hurt that Kill Bill ( volumes 1 and 2 ) is one ( or two , rather ) of my favorite movies . But the soundtrack is simply superb . Only the RZA tracks were written for the movie . The rest of the music is vintage stuff that Quentin plucked from obscurity to use in his movie . However , as is the case with all of Tarantino's soundtracks , the music forever becomes associated with the film . For example , will you ever be able to hear Stuck In The Middle With You without thinking of Michael Madsen slashing a cop's ear ? Dick Dale's Misirlou , of course , is already irrevocably linked to Pulp Fiction . You won't be able to hear Bobby Womack's Across 110th Street without thinking of Jackie Brown . The songs on the Kill Bill soundtrack are so utterly perfect , that it's mind-boggling . Of course , you have to see the movie to fully appreciate it . I feel that Kill Bill is one of the most perfect marriages of image and music to ever come out of Hollywood . Just on Volume 1 alone , you've got tracks like The Grande Duel , Battle Without Honor or Humanity and The Lonely Shepherd that are so perfect in the movie that you would that they were written for the movie . But they weren't . Just imagine that climactic duel between Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu without Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood . It would not be the same . I think that the Kill Bill soundtrack is one of the most perfect non-score soundtracks ever . It's a testament to Quentin Tarantino's genius that he is able to perfectly assemble music to complement his images and still make highly listenable soundtrack albums . The Volume 2 soundtrack is equally excellent and features such gems as Chingon's Malaguena Salerosa , Shivaree's Goodnight Moon and lots of Ennio Morricone . Highly recommended .
        • 110 4  This review is from : Kill Bill : Volume 1 ( Audio CD ) I love both Kill Bill movies and can watch them over and over again . The two soundtracks provides a great recap of the movie itself . I had to admire the selection of these songs - so subtle and to the point .
        • 112 4  Every once in awhile a movie soundtrack is composed or compiled that is so fantastic that it not only adds an entire new dimension of appreciation to the movie , but stands on its own as a magnificent recording . Well , it worked with Pulp Fiction , but it doesn't quite reach that level for Kill Bill Vol . I . There are definite highlights . . . The Lonely Shepherd could very well be the best Ennio Morricone theme that Morricone never wrote , and The Flower Of Carnage preceding it is just amazing . I have to admit that I bought the CD for Tomoyasu Hotei's drop-dead cool Battle Without Honor Or Humanity , perhaps the ultimate walking-in-slow-motion-while-dressed-in-black-and-wearing-sunglasses theme song of all time . But Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) , while completely appropriate and totally something you'd expect Tarantino to find a place for , just doesn't start the CD off on as high a note as you'd like when remembering the movie ; Miserlou it ain't . And Charlie Feathers ' poor man's Elvis knock-off , while a decent enough nugget lovingly plucked from obscurity , doesn't seem in-place with the movie at all . Twisted Nerve is just plain annoying , and The RZA's Ode to Oren . . . is just tedious . Oren's Queen of the Crime Council soundbite from the movie is among its most memorable lines , and that probably tells you all you need to know about this slash first , talk later martial arts tribute film . Worst for me on this CD is the Santa Esmerelda ( who ? ) remake of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood . It's a good enough song , sure . . . and there aren't many who love flamenco guitar as much as I do . . . but drawing this tune out for over 10 minutes is an exercise in monotonous self-indulgence . Considering that Hotei's Battle . . . is infinitely better and less than two-and-a-half minutes long , it only irritates me further . The rest of it is not memorable enough to leave an impression without seeing the movie again ( which I've been meaning to do for some time now ) , but if you like at least two of the songs from the movie you'll probably find it worth your while to buy this soundtrack . Be forewarned , though . . . as it is an enhanced CD you will find it nearly impossible to play the audio tracks on a PC ( which I do to pass time while at work ) . All the same , there is good music on this disc that can't be found anywhere else ; for that reason alone I bought it .
        • 113 4  Quentin Tarantino returned in October 2003 with his martial arts masterpiece Kill Bill - Volume 1 , a film that was more ground-breaking and visually pleasing that anything seen all year . After an absence of six years from the film industry , Tarantino returned bigger than ever when the film thrashed its way into cinemas around the world and broke all records imaginable for a film with a kick-ass female lead . Tarantino's original plan was to make this a 4 hour epic , but decided to split the film into two volumes . There are many advantages of this for him : twice as much money at the box office , two as much money from DVD sales , twice as much hype for the second volume and two stunning soundtracks . . . Tarantino is well known for his love of popular culture , and his soundtracks to the films he directs are always painfully and methodically planned out to ensure worldwide appeal . It is often said that a soundtrack can make a film , and in the case of Kill Bill , they sure are right ! The soundtrack to Volume 1 of Kill Bill is the ultimate and you are left with a feeling that Tarantino surely cannot top it with his soundtrack to Volume 2 by the time it finishes . On this soundtrack we get some of the film's most memorable music all contained on one disc for your listening pleasure . Take the opening track , Nancy Sinatra's Bang Bang ( My Baby Shot Me Down ) which instantly brings in themes of old Western films . A true classic , revived for this soundtrack . Someone's been listening to too much Elvis on Charlie Feathers ' That Certain Female , whilst the instrumental qualities of The Grand Duel - ( Parte Prima ) by Luis Bacalov make for one of the most visual and atmospheric tracks on offer here . ( . . . ) OVERALL GRADE : 10 / 10 Kill Bill - Volume 1 Original Soundtrack is actually the first soundtrack to a film that I have ever bought . I don't usually pay much attention to the music in a film , because I'm usually too focused on the acting and storyline , but as always , Tarantino is different and supplies his fans with both an amazing , spectacular film and a stunning , musically-enthralling soundtrack that appeals to listeners of all ages , races and groups . This is truly a brilliant soundtrack and I would recommend it to anyone .
        • 114 4  This review is from : Kill Bill : Volume 1 ( Audio CD ) Just like Martin Scorsese and P.T Anderson , Tarantino uses music so brilliantly in his movies that it is practically part of the script or another character in the movie . Kill Bill is his most eclectic soundtrack yet . My only complaint is that the CD is only about 45 minutes long and is missing a lot of songs used in the movie . I would say the highlights are definately present and accounted for though . So far this is my favorite Tarantino soundtrack .
        • 116 4  After watching Kill Bill I had to have the soundtrack . It is near perfect . With a couple of exceptions listening to each song recreated the movie in my mind and it made me curious about the artists . After hearing Nancy Sinatra doing Bang Bang ( her's was better than the Cher version ) I went out and bought more of her stuff . After hearing the amazing Green Hornet solo by Al Hirt - - it actually sounds like an angry hornet on the move - - I ordered a CD of his greatest hits . Santa Esmerelda is fantantastic doing Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood . Lonely Shepard , Flower of Carnage and Grand Duel are incredible . There is however , one heaping pile of . . . mistake on this album . The RZA cut stinks . It wasn't in the movie , has lousy lyrics , ( As a reviewer pointed out earlier how can Oren be HALF Japanese , HALF Chinese and HALF American ? Somebody flunked third grade math . ) And it doesn't seem to go with the rest of the album . Also the bonus FX tracks seemed like filler . Otherwise this is just so great .
        • 120 4  I don't have the CD's but I saw the movie and I loved it . The only reason why I'm bothering to write a review is to tell that other reviewer , and anyone else who was wondering , that the song the girl with the eyepatch is whistling is the theme from the movie Twisted Nerve . Since that theme belongs to another movie , it would make sense as to why it would not be included on the soundtrack .
        • 122 4  An awsome soundtrack to an awsome movie . Yes , a couple songs suck , like the Ode to Oren Ishi , and some songs are missing , like the song in Hatori Hanzos attic , but overall , this is an incredible CD . The best songs are Bang Bang , from the opening Credits Green Hornet , when The Bride arrives in Tokyo Battle Without Honor or Humanity , from the previews Woo Hoo , by the 5,6,7,8s The Grand Duel , from the anime sequence Don't Let We Be Misunderstood , from the battle with the Crazy 88s Twisted Nerve , from the hospital scene with Darryl Hannah and my favorite : The Lonley Shephard , witch is played a few times , including the ending credits
        • 125 4  I know a lot of the sweet songs were left out of the album , but I found a site which has all the songs available for download , including 7 notes in Black without rap ruining it . Go to www.killbill2 . net and find all the songs your looking for . I burned all them on a cd , now I have 3 KB soundtrack cds .
        • 127 4  What the soundtrack to KILL BILL does best is point out what a great director Tarantino is . The movie comes across as fast , furious , almost manic . When you listen to the soundtrack you realize all of that animation came from the visual swirl Tarantino put on the screen , because the music is generally atmospheric and decidedly downbeat . To some degree PULP FICTION worked on the opposite tack , with less action and a more uptempo soundtrack . I suppose the tension between the audio and visual tracks is part of the attraction of Tarantino films ; I know it was worked to perfection in RESERVOIR DOGS , particularly during everyone's favorite Ear scene . The Kill Bill soundtrack is more a curiousity than anything else . There isn't much thrill to driving your car while this is on , and you sure aren't going to dance to it . The whistled Twisted Nerve was perfect in the film but is just plain goofy when forced to stand on its own . The inclusion of Lucy Lu's speech at the council meeting is pointless ; and the run through of some Kung-Fu - like sound effects is only fun the first time you hear it . I love the 5.6.7.8 ' s , but what on earth is this gibberish from ' The RZA ' ? I've only seen the movie once , but I don't recall Ode To Oren Ishii , a three minute rant and rave about Lu's character . It's stupid ( at one point he rhymes the word off with off and off . . . . duh ) , it's annoying , neither rapped nor sung , just screamed by some guy with marbles in his mouth who can't open his yap without Yo ! coming out at least once every sentence , and it doesn't fit with anything else on the CD . It's time to put an end to the obligitory nod to hip-hop on all soundtracks . It doesn't always work . When it comes right down to it , I guess I don't much care for this soundtrack . It is incomplete , the sound quality isn't always up to snuff , and the inclusion of the RZA tracks is annoying . It's my own fault , though . What I really want is KILL BILL on DVD , and I was too impatient to wait for it , so I bought what I thought might be the next closest thing . Ah well .
        • 129 4  Like the title says , best soundtrack ever . The first song on both the movie and the CD , Bang Bang , Nancy Sinatra , is so good , I'm a 13year old boy and it's still my fave song . All the songs are different and fit the tone of the movie so good . You don't even have to have seen the movie to like it .
        • 132 4  I have listened and grown to love the eclectic compilations known as Quentin Tarentino's movie soundtracks . I am total amorous of the discs for Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction , and when I heard the Kill Bill Vol . 1 soundtrack , I once again in love . Soundtracks can make a movie that much better , and no one knows how to pick the selected pieces like QT . From the opening song , Bang Bang , sung by Nancy Sinatra , who is more famous for These boots were made for walking than this unknown recording , to Don't let me be misunderstood which is somewhat a lost disco classic . To Twisted Nerve , which is whistling made cool . Quite a difference in music genres there , and that isn't where it ends . Highly entertaining and a feast for a true music fans ears , Kill Bill Vol . 1 is a soundtrack worthy of a purchase .
        • 135 4  The song selection here is icredibly vaired , from classic rock , to country / western - - even Zamfir's flute makes an appearance . Having such a mized bag makes the CD a hit and miss prospect . I find myself skipping through most of the middle tracks - - not a good sign . My favorite tracks are currently 1,2 , and 9 ( an odd bunch , if you've listened to the CD . ) I always enjoy trarntino's choice of music to place in his movies . He has a knack for putting the right song in the right spot . If you enjoyed Kill Bill ( and I did ) you'll like the soundtrack . I voted in so-so , manly because i was hoping for a soundtrack playable all the way through with no filler , like the Pulp Fiction soundtrack . ' Tis my own high expectations that doom this CD .
        • 136 4  this is the best soundtrack all year i have saw the film twice and cant stop humming the songs perfect cd to get your blood racing but dont listen to this while in your bed or you will be up all night lol worst song is he rap about oren-ishii
        • 141 4  Here's my review of this album . . track by track : 1 - Bang Bang : This song is wonderful . . too bad the soundtrack has only an instrumental version ( or is only my CD ? ) . . the sample on amazon.com is the real song . . however on my CD there's no Nancy Sinatra's voice to be heard . . can any one clarify this for me please ? 2 - That certain Female : A cheesy rock'n'roll song . . personally i didn't like it 3 - The Grand Duel : Now that's symphonic beauty . . 4 - Twisted Nerve : Cool voice whistling . . actually it really made me nervous in the movie ! ! 5 - Queen of the Crime Council : Quoted from the movie - Oren Ishii's speech . . 6 - Ode to O-ren Ishii : Nice Rap song by the great RZA . 7 - Run Fay Run : What else did you expect ? Another Isaac Hayes classic . . . gave me an old feeling like iam watching a Bruce Lee movie or something . . 8 - Green Hornet : I simply love this song . . 9 - Battle without honor or humanity : not of my favorites . . 10 - Don't Let me be Misunderstood : ohyaaa . . Flamengo . . makes me dance . . this is the longest track on the album.I liked the instrumental version in the movie better though . . it was a great scene . 11 - Woo Hoo : hmmm . . we're not in the 70 ' s anymore . . 12 - Crane : I skip through this one . . 13 - Flower of Carnage : I don't understand a word in japanese still i LOVE this song . . it's just wonderful . . 14 - The Lonely Shepard : What can i say ? A classic masterpiece that I enjoyed since my childhood . . i bought the album because of this track . . and the japanese touch in the end is great. This is the real end of the album for me . . whatever comes next is just soundeffects . . 15 - You're My Qicked Life : Another quote from the movie . . I want him to know . . I want them all to know . . 16 - Ironside : The look on her face when she remembers . . very alarming . . 17 to 22 : Soundeffects that add no real value to the album .
        • 142 4  Tarantino once said he loved Vanilla Ice . I always thought it was an inside joke , because like Ice , Tarantino became famous as much for material borrowed , as created . In 10 years , people will not even know what Tarantino was referring to in Pulp Fiction , what he was paying meticulous homage to in Kill Bill . His ' source material ' , will be forgotten . What a pleasure it is though , in Kill Bill , to cite his references , and recognize the feel of this film from 70s b-movies and ' exploitation ' films . The plot and characters , are in service of style . In this way too , Tarantino closely follows his idol Depalma , who stole from Hitchcock in an almost fetishlike obsession , just as QT steals from everyone else . Like Depalma , in say Dressed to Kill , all elements of story , are mere slaves to the dual gods of technique and image . In this , Kill Bill is stunningly successful .
        • 147 4  When I first saw this film I was completely speechless when the film was over . When I saw it the second time I was speechless again and just couldn't compare it to any film . After seeing this movie about three times now I went and bought the soundtrack . I love the way Tarantino takes the time into picking what music should be put into his films . Every song on this soundtrack completely fits the film beginning to end . If you like Tarantinos previous films and soundtracks to his films , then this film and its soundtrack will just completely blow you away . I recommend you buy this soundtrack and I can't wait to see Kill Bill Vol.II and see what music it has to offer .
        • 148 4  > Does anyone know the title to the song that is being > hummed / sang while Beatrix is looking at the secret collection > of Hatori Hanzo's swords ? Out of all these reviews , I haven't > seen anyone mention it yet . I believe it is Kaifuku Suru Kiza by Lily Chou-Chou

      • The songs that are here are great . That's to be expected from a Tarantino movie . Zamfir's song - he's the master of the pan flutes ! - fits perfectly with the movie and it is great out of context as well . Battle Without Honor or Humanity is an essential action movie song . Twisted Nerve is a fine and complicated song , though at first it may seem simple . The first time you listen to this soundtrack , it makes you very impatient for the DVD release of the movie itself . Bad : Of the 22 tracks , 9 are sound effects or dialog . For a movie with so much great music , I expected more of it . And that one song where the RZA talks over the beautiful background just ruins the track . I'm a Wu-Tang and RZA fan from way back , but this track is just strange . He doesn't flow nor rhyme well . It's as if RZA let someone far less talented write it , and then the first take of the poor verse made it onto the CD . Overall : I'm glad I got it , and I'm just as glad I got it at a good price .
        • 008 4  I picked up this soundtrack 2 days after I saw the film and was immediately impressed . Every piece that was selected brought me back to the portion of the film from which it was from . Like all of Tarrantino's previous soundtracks , this piece fully lived up to the movie . One of my favorite pieces is the Charlie Feather's track . It was a breath of fresh air to hear some Rockabilly used in a mainstream movie . Flower of Carnage is a hauntingly beautiful piece , that seems to underlay the violence of the scene that it is used in . I was pleasently suprised with Zamfir's piece , never really having been a fan of his work in the past . I would recommend this album to anyone who wnats to hear music that doesn't fit the conventional mold of soundtracks that hollywood pushes out
        • 049 4  Tarantino is a master filmmaker and his soundtracks are dead on target with the plot of the films they accompany . Just as Pulp Fiction had the exact right selections on the soundtrack to match the mood of the storyline and characters , so does Kill Bill Vol . 1 . With selections like Bang Bang from Nancy Sinatra and The Lonely Shepherd by pan flute master Gheorghe Zamfir all in the same score , Tarantino makes every piece of the puzzle of his films fit together with perfect harmony to deliver a powerful experience . Only for those who have seen the film and enjoyed both it and the music , this soundtrack does not disappoint .
        • 069 4  The person that wrote the review above was incorrect . The song that plays when Uma picks the sword IS on the cd , and it's The lonely shephard by Gheorghe Zamfir - Romanian folk music ( Zamfir is very famous for playing the panflute ) . Some of the other songs are very energetic . Very good ensemble .
        • 077 4  3 1 / 2 Even if this is perhaps the most diverse ranging soundtrack put together from a Tarantino film yet , there is simply too much effort going into track selections , feeling less inspired and more calculated then previous compilations despite length and worldliness working in favor of the theme .
        • 096 4  I must say , if you got the soundtrack for all 4 of Tarantino films you would be quite happy . Another excellent soundtrack to surprise and blow away your friends with . I mean even the Zamfir ( master of the pan flutes ) song is cool ! Enhanced Stuff - You will see some very brief scenes from vol 2 in trailer 3 . Highly Recommended .

        • 119 4  The music so truly fits the film , ( a true Tarantino film quality ) which is visually amazing . What is the most spectacular song is Battle Without Honor or Humanity , so dead solid perfect for this film .
