In the previous installment of
Dot hack / / G.U .
, we were introduced to Haseo , who , after logging into the fictional online game known as The World : R2 , experiences the harsh treatment that most peaceloving players receive , as Player Killers run rampant everywhere . After his friend Shino is PK'd by a mysterious player known only as Tri-Edge , her real life player falls into a coma . Haseo takes up the life of a Player Killer Killer , hunting down PKers in an effort to find Tri-Edge . After an encounter with Tri-Edge reduces Haseo to level 1 , Haseo learns of his power as an Epitaph User , a special ability that defies system parameters . He joins Project G.U . , a group of Epitaph Users under the command of a system admin . He helps them track down and destroy a mysterious entity lurking in the world , known as AIDA , in exchange for information on Tri-Edge . In a final confrontation , he manages to destroy Tri-Edge , but neither his friend Shino , nor any other player who has fallen comatose , wakes up .
In Volume 2 , Haseo and his allies suddenly find themselves unable to log out from the game . Moreover , their consciousnesses are trapped inside the game's world . As every player currently logged into The World discovers this , a widespread panic breaks out , and not even the system admins know what to do , as the outside world cannot be contacted . This is one of many weird incidents that happen over the course of the story , and at the root of it all , is AIDA . Haseo must once again use his powers as an Epitaph user , to combat AIDA as it becomes increasingly more active and intelligent .
The story is once again what one would expect from something out of the . hack universe . The characters show a lot of emotion in their actions , and it's great to see how our protagonist , Haseo , has Grown Up since the beginning of the first game . Starting out as a bratty loner who doesn't seem to care about anyone , he somehow still manages to be some kind of people magnet , and slowly becomes what people would call A valuable friend . With other characters such as the peace-loving Atoli , the mysterious Ovan , the manipulative Sakaki , the eccentric Piros the 3rd , and the tomboyish Alkaid , you won't be bored . The number of recruitable characters for your party has increased from 6 to 11 , but all of them are familiar faces . In fact , there are only few additions to the game's whole cast , which is a good thing , because there is already such an extensive number of them , each with their own distinct personalities .
The gameplay remains relatively unchanged . The game pretends to be an online game . You start out from a ' desktop ' , where you can do things like read ( fictional ) email , news and forums , play Crimson VS ( a minigame card game that's really easy to get into as it plays itself ) , and of course , log into the world . After logging into the world , you arrive in one of three root towns , where you can interact with and trade with other players , do some shopping , and form a party before heading to an area . Once in an area , which is either a field or a dungeon , you'll be fighting monsters as you try to complete the area's mission , which is usually to reach a treasure or to defeat a boss monster .
With everything you do , you control the main character , Haseo , who is of the Adept Rogue class . The Adept Rogue is able to equip different types of weapons and switch between them at will , making way for different fighting style . In the last game , we were introduced to the Dual Swords , low-power weapons that hit fast and multiple times , which work well against mid-size and flying enemies , and the Broad Sword , a huge sword that hits for heavy damage , but is quite slow , works well against large size and shelled enemies . Volume 2 introduces the Scythe , which has a 360 degree range that pushes small enemies back . The Dual Swords and Broad Swords have also been updated a bit . The Dual Swords now hit more often during a combo , and the Broad Sword can now be charged up 3 levels instead of 1 . Battles are generally a bit more fast-paced than in Volume 1 .
The Avatar Battles are also slightly faster now , and appear a lot more often than in the first volume . The Avatar is a mighty being that is commanded by an Epitaph User . Avatar Battles are a special type of boss battle that pits you agains AIDA or another Avatar . You fly around , evading the enemy's attacks by dashing . You use a shot attack to attack from long range and to stun them , and as they are stunned , you can move in and use the scythe to inflict heavy damage . Volume 2 gives Haseo's Avatar , Skeith , the ability to deflect any projectile by slashing , and a ranged attack at the end of a scythe combo . The new enemy AIDA and Avatars are generally faster than in the previous games , and they use attacks that are harder to avoid . They are my favorite part of the gameplay , and all the bosses can be re-fought at any time .
The graphics and music are pretty much the same as in the previous volume . The environments are quite beautiful and decently detailed , with things like a giant cannon being visible from field type areas , and the general atmosphere of the areas you visit is great . The choice of lighting is always perfect . There are also a new type of field and a new type of dungeon to visit , making the game less repetitive than the previous one . The sound that accompanies it all only adds to the amazing atmosphere of the game . However , although the voice acting is still quite good , it kind of feels like they've gotten a bit sloppy since the last game . The character models are great , and during close-up scenes , the faces show an amazing amount of emotion .
I've always been a fan of the . hack series for amazing storylines with amazingly deep characters , and Haseo is most likely the deepest of them all . It looks very nice for a PS2 game , and the music has amazing atmosphere . The gameplay is also fun , and not too repetitive to most people . All in all , a solid game that any action RPG fan should try .

dot Hack has redefined RPG gaming by pitting players in an MMO simulation . The first four games were great , each title adding to the storyline . Think of it like getting a booster pack from a new set . Each set or game brings in new monsters , items , characters and storyline . But once you beat the game , it's not over , there are still tons of things left to do to bide the time until Part 3 comes out ! That does not mean it is a bad game ( GameInformer , I'm talking to you ) . Sometimes I wonder if the reason I continue to love the . hack games is that they were among the very first rpg's that I played when I got my PS2 . In retrospect the first series was more than a bit repetitive and would never meet today's graphic standards . But they were addictive , and had one of those odd story lines that kept you coming back to find out more . And now here's the new series , already up to volume 2 in the US and I'm just as caught up in them even though they have some of the same faults that the original series has .
Graphics are much better , thank God . Not up to take your breath away CGI standards , but more carefully illustrated , with better animation . More scenery to look at , but fewer monsters . This last is a bit of a sticking point . There are 146 or so different monsters between the first two games in the G.U . series , but many are replays of each other . And at any given level only a few will show up . Keep in mind that there is a lot of fighting in this game . It gets a bit repetitious .
What keeps the main game rolling is the story line , which is much less fragmentary than the original series . Haseo is the lead male , and in the first game he is hard to like . But he develops quite a bit by Reminisce , we come to understand him better and recognize the hero hiding under all the brusque attitude . Atoli is the female lead , but the feelings between them are complicated , and several other females show interest in Haseo . Atoli herself has another interest and this complicated interplay is the key dynamic that keeps the story spellbinding , with more than a few moments of great drama .
One of . hack's weaknesses is the repetitiveness of leveling battles . They play well , but are simple to manage . And don't look for any great variety of monsters . And yes , you do need to level up . If you don't take yourself up to level 100 in this game you'll have to do that anyway in the next ( and final ) episode . You may as well get it over with . Personally , I found the avatar fights hard to work with and the source of some frustration . And arena fighting is more important in Reminisce , but you get to do very little of it . The side quests are standard . hack fare , the usual races and completion tasks that make the leveling up effort more interesting .
On the whole I would rate Reminisce as the best in either series up to now . It has a real , and often surprising , plot with very solid characters . These are people you can feel something about with a nice mix of comedy and tragedy . I will no doubt play it through again before volume three makes its appearance .

. hack / / Gu volume 2 Reminisce is simply an amazing role-playing game for the play station 2 and is defiantly one of the systems best games bar none .
While some people complain that Rpgs stories are clichéd and overdone but . hack is nether of those with one of the most original and gripping story's I've even seen anywhere let alone a video game . Below is just a small sample of what the game is about .
Something is happening in the online game the world that is causing characters to vanish and their players to fall into comas . Artificially intelligent data anomalies or A.I.D.A keep showing up and causing trouble . Is there a connection between these two mysterious ? Can anything be done to save the lost ones ? Only you Haseo can find the truth .
From Haseo to Atoli to Khun there is a character for everybody to like , heck you'd probally have trouble NOT liking all of them like I do , even the more goofy ones like Prios the third and Gaspard .
If you like rgps and or action adventure games , . hack / / Gu Vol 2 is a game you just simple can't miss . In my opinion it's even better then the likes of Kingdom hearts 2 and Final fantasy 12 .

The second installment of the G.U . series is out , with all new improvements ! Reminisce takes every excellent part of the first game formula and amplifies it . With a deepened storyline , more intense battles thanks to Weapon Change , bike custimization , new missions and areas , you'll find it pretty hard to become bored of this quickly ! Even though the game may play short , and looks a tad inferior in the graphics department , it shouldn't cause any second opinons . If you already own the first , nothing should stop you on getting this . If you don't , you are sure to enjoy this game just as much .

The . hack series continues to amaze . I rarely commit myself to a series but . hack stands above most others . I have invested in the games , anime DVDs , books , and manga . I consider all a wise investment . . hack / / G.U . Vol .2 / / Reminisce continues the great legacy . The G.U . games improved upon many elements from the previous four games and Vol .2 takes it a step further over Vol .1 . Changing weapons on the fly , a new awakening skill , customizable steam bike , etc . It's all goes towards a fantastic game that will keep you begging for more until Vol .3 is released . The game picks up where Rebirth ended , after one of the series greatest cliffhangers . With the addition of new characters which can be added to the group , the story expands even further . Combat strategy grows more complex with the addition of a new weapon type for Haseo , the main character in the series . Further guild dynamics add more depth to your experience . With all these elements added together , . hack / / G.U . Vol .2 / / Reminisce delivers on every angle , including the storyline . As you find more of the Epitaph Users , what does their fate hold for ` The World ' ? What is AIDA and its connection to certain players ? Who is Tri-Edge ? What secrets do Ovan hold ? This incarnation of the . Hack saga is very similar to almost all the previous ones . The dungeons and fields are laid out similarly , and the interface is largely unchanged . This is essentially another block of story in the series , and will appeal to those who've stuck with it so far , and enjoy the atmosphere and the premise .
Your characters quest this time is to save Atoli , who was nearly PKed at the end of the previous game and almost lapsed into a coma . This attack begins to show itself in the real world , as Atoli's player begins to complain of pain and numbness in her left arm , where she was struck .
Haseo , alternating between watching over Atoli and his other friends , also pursues his next major goal , the 2nd tier Arena Throne of the Holy Palace Emperor . He encounters AIDA in alarmingly larger and more powerful forms , resulting in a lot of repetitive battles with his Avatar .
The motives of many of the characters begin to flesh out well , from the interactions you have with them , and the correspondence you recieve from them . The storyline is what makes this game worthwhile to play , and even with some of the drawbacks , makes the game even have some replay value .
Thankfully , the game is not overly difficult . While leveling up expedites things , its not really necessary . Many of the flaws from the previous game have been addressed as well : one character can switch from one weapon to another on the fly , and several elements of combat have been improved , though hearing the word Rengeki shouted over and over again will eventually make you want to put an ax through your TV .
As I said before , if you like the story and the series behind . Hack , this game is worthwhile and highly diverting . If not , this will probably drive you into a homicidal rage after too long . As far as I could tell , there is not much middle ground .

Haseo must once again use his powers as an Epitaph user , to combat AIDA as it becomes increasingly more active and intelligent .
The story is once again what one would expect from something out of the . hack universe . The characters show a lot of emotion in their actions , and it's great to see how our protagonist , Haseo , has Grown Up since the beginning of the first game . Starting out as a bratty loner who doesn't seem to care about anyone , he somehow still manages to be some kind of people magnet , and slowly becomes what people would call A valuable friend . With other characters such as the peace-loving Atoli , the mysterious Ovan , the manipulative Sakaki , the eccentric Piros the 3rd , and the tomboyish Alkaid , you won't be bored . The number of recruitable characters for your party has increased from 6 to 11 , but all of them are familiar faces . In fact , there are only few additions to the game's whole cast , which is a good thing , because there is already such an extensive number of them , each with their own distinct personalities .
The gameplay remains relatively unchanged . The game pretends to be an online game . You start out from a ' desktop ' , where you can do things like read ( fictional ) email , news and forums , play Crimson VS ( a minigame card game that's really easy to get into as it plays itself ) , and of course , log into the world . After logging into the world , you arrive in one of three root towns , where you can interact with and trade with other players , do some shopping , and form a party before heading to an area . Once in an area , which is either a field or a dungeon , you'll be fighting monsters as you try to complete the area's mission , which is usually to reach a treasure or to defeat a boss monster .
With everything you do , you control the main character , Haseo , who is of the Adept Rogue class . The Adept Rogue is able to equip different types of weapons and switch between them at will , making way for different fighting style . In the last game , we were introduced to the Dual Swords , low-power weapons that hit fast and multiple times , which work well against mid-size and flying enemies , and the Broad Sword , a huge sword that hits for heavy damage , but is quite slow , works well against large size and shelled enemies . Volume 2 introduces the Scythe , which has a 360 degree range that pushes small enemies back . The Dual Swords and Broad Swords have also been updated a bit . The Dual Swords now hit more often during a combo , and the Broad Sword can now be charged up 3 levels instead of 1 . Battles are generally a bit more fast-paced than in Volume 1 .
The Avatar Battles are also slightly faster now , and appear a lot more often than in the first volume . The Avatar is a mighty being that is commanded by an Epitaph User . Avatar Battles are a special type of boss battle that pits you agains AIDA or another Avatar . You fly around , evading the enemy's attacks by dashing . You use a shot attack to attack from long range and to stun them , and as they are stunned , you can move in and use the scythe to inflict heavy damage . Volume 2 gives Haseo's Avatar , Skeith , the ability to deflect any projectile by slashing , and a ranged attack at the end of a scythe combo . The new enemy AIDA and Avatars are generally faster than in the previous games , and they use attacks that are harder to avoid . They are my favorite part of the gameplay , and all the bosses can be re-fought at any time .
The graphics and music are pretty much the same as in the previous volume . The environments are quite beautiful and decently detailed , with things like a giant cannon being visible from field type areas , and the general atmosphere of the areas you visit is great . The choice of lighting is always perfect . There are also a new type of field and a new type of dungeon to visit , making the game less repetitive than the previous one . The sound that accompanies it all only adds to the amazing atmosphere of the game . However , although the voice acting is still quite good , it kind of feels like they've gotten a bit sloppy since the last game . The character models are great , and during close-up scenes , the faces show an amazing amount of emotion .
I've always been a fan of the . hack series for amazing storylines with amazingly deep characters , and Haseo is most likely the deepest of them all . It looks very nice for a PS2 game , and the music has amazing atmosphere . The gameplay is also fun , and not too repetitive to most people . All in all , a solid game that any action RPG fan should try .

Haseo seemingly having gone through a change in voice-over actors . And where in the world did the spoke dialouge go when trading / giving gifts to party members ? And why doesn't Death Grunty speak anymore ? !
Another thing that gripes me is the fact that * now * they decide to let you be able to change your party members equipment and allow them to be more interactive with the environment around them . . . if they were going to do this , why not include it in the first volume and save me from feeling so . . . frustrated while playing the game ? . hack / / GU volume 2 is much the same fare as . hack / / GU volume 1 or even the original game series . You level up , you go on quests and you help your friends all with the ultimate goal of defeating ' AIDA ' .
In this it hasn't changed very much .
What has changed is what you learn . Everything is not what it seems - - either in the World or with your companions . For anyone who has watched the . hack / / roots anime , a sort of prequel to the events of the beginning of the first game , you might understand my meaning better . Friends who were enemies at one time will now be your boon companions , while the people you might have trusted in the past will no longer be so trustworthy .
Controls are the same . Hitting the X button pretty much gets your point across with a smattering of the R1 function and some quick item usage if your ' healer ' runs out . With such a straight forward approach you can't go wrong with either new players or old pros at RPG style .
Its a benefit to the player if you start the game at something higher then say level 40 ( I began at level 44 ) . I was told that as long as you are past level 30 you should do fine , but if you wish to have that extra jump up , then spend a few more minutes in the first game leveling some more .
What I found most interesting about this second series of . hack games is possibly the interactivity with the rest of the World . There is tons to explore outside of the ' game ' itself . Forums - - where you can learn new passcodes for new areas , learn hints at Tri-Edge's whereabouts or just find out interesting gossip , the Crimson VS game is interesting and easy to handle . Once you set up your cards the system does the battling automatically while you are playing .
The News and World features are also interesting . Not so much helpful in your quest inside the World it gives the player a better understanding of the world outside of the game ( much the same function that the Liminality series gave to the original series of games ) .
All in all I would greatly recommend this game . It might not be the most polished game , and you'll get frustrated ( in you're like me and the stupid Quests . . . oiy . . . ) , but ultimately its worth the hassle .

It takes place in the online game The World , though the game itself isn't online . Reminisce simulates an online game , and as such , you can interact with other players by talking to them , trading items , and sending and receiving emails .
In my opinion , Reminisce is the best game in the series . More than any else , it chronicles Haseo's growth from a child into an adult as he learns to cope with unfortunate truths about the world and the people he's come to love and trust . Reminisce takes you into the characters and forces you to care about them . Even Atoli , whom I had despised since Rebirth , I came to pity and sympathize for in her anguish .
The combat is improved across the board : in addition to the new scythe weapon , which allows you to cut through groups of enemies at once , Reminisce offers what many fans have been begging for since volume one : the weapon trigger . The weapon trigger allows you to dynamically switch weapons with little to no delay in between , which was previously an annoyance in volume one and would be absolutely unforgivable with the expanded weapons system in Reminisce .
All in all , I highly recommend it to RPG fans , as well as those that just enjoy a good story . It has an engaging plot and some unbelievable plot twists . I recommend it whole-heartedly .

Oddly enough , I'm finding myself enjoying the . hack / / GU games more than Phantasy Star Universe , an actual online RPG that has many of the same action RPG mechanics ! !
As opposed to the first game , we finally get some really interesting customizing items and three slotted weapons , which allows really encourages switching weapons in battle , including the scythe gained with your third form . It reminds me of the slotted armors back in Phantasy Star Online . . . it's hard not to compare the two games , oddly . The set up of fighting is similar , online RPG , and heavy on the repetitive dungeons . . .
We get one new dungeon skin , and one new town in this game . Mrrr . . . Well at least the thundering field levels still looks awesome .
New plot twists and turns . . . make you forced to buy the third game to get to the end . Arrg . Seriously , it's okay to take longer and release it all on one disk . I've longed for a game with 100 + hours for a loooong time . Could there a least be a fancy box for all three discs ? Or a multi disc game ? Remember that , on the PS1 ? THE GOOD-for some reason , the story , never ever kept me confused or wanting even though it seems average I can't explain why but I loved this story and the way they presented everything . The graphics are slightly better than average . The combat is fast paced and only gets boring when your fighting lower levels ( even though theres only one attack button and no combos , I still enjoyed the fights ) . The new awakening is really cool and can really save you in a tough battle , or entertain you in an easy one . Its like the creators studied current onlin games ( where the story takes place ) because NPC names and group names seem very realistic .
THE BAD - the soundtrack isnt good at all , there aren't even words . About an hour into the game you'll notice how generic the backgrounds are . The game is sort of short . There is a lack of spells to use . It seems like the equipment doesnt change your gameplay at all .
THE BOTTOM LINE - very fun , but for unexplainable reasons , and definetly worth the buy even to people new to this genre ( since it is real time and not turn-based )

The . hack / / G . U . PS2 game is awesome ! ! ! When I first played the game I loved it ! It's really fun ! But I think they should make the game a little bit harder . The game only took me about 2 days to beet ! The battle feild is alot different then the other . hack PS2 games . But I do like how Haseo changes threw the games ! ( first a regular player , then the Terror of Death ) I can't wait to see what his next form is ! ! ! !

Most people found the . hack / sign based games boring and slow , as well as short , and although the . Hack / / GU series suffers from the same short-criticism ( You can max out this game in 45 hours ) , it is one of the most complete games for the PS2 . While the graphics took some getting used to , ( they're very unique , check out screenshots ) the story for this game is absolutely immense . It picks up where the first one left off and from the minute you start , the action begins . There is no chill period in this game and when there were periods to do quests and train using different Area Words , I found myself gritting my teeth , resisting the urge to just jump ahead with the story . And although grinding isn't really necessary in this game , I found it helped towards the later stages of the game . Just finnished beating this volume . Totaly awsome , as good if not better than the first ! The G.U . series is much better than the first four games . Don't get me wrong i loved those to but many hatted them . Don't let that turn you off these games they are fantastic . May die from anticipation watting for the last volume . . Hack : G.U . , Vol . 2 - Reminisce ( Video Game )
' Simply stunning . ' Those two words sum this game up simplistically . Each scene left my mind paused , savoring each of the scenes as if they were cherished gifts . The gameplay is fluid , and runs most smoothly . Of course it has its downsides , such as the limited amount of fields and dungeons , but it is well made up for with the amount of customizable features ( the desktop , since . hack / / INFECTION has been one of my favorite add-ons - ^ _ ^ I love to make it ' MY ' desktop ! There are many intricate weaves throughout the storyline , as well as the quirky comic relief . As it is I'm still playing it , even after completion , just simply to simulate that MMORPG feel . : D Pick it up , play it , and love it ! !

. Hack / / G.U . Reminisce is an amazing continuation of the previous five games consisting of the original . Hack / / games and vol . 1 of G.U . called Rebirth . While a fire damaged the data from the storyline of The World ( the online video game from the first series ) gave way to the revamp of The World R : 2 there have been many improvements as well as bringing back a few of the main characters from the original . Even within the opening cut scenes with a few surprise characters ( I won't give it away for you ) you can clearly tell that this game is as full of mystery and subterfuge as the previous games were . The greatest part about these games are how tightly they are linked with both the anime and the manga that are within the same world , although usually with different characters giving this electronic story world many different perspectives with which to enjoy all the different stories and subplots that emerge around every corner . This game in particular isn't too removed from Rebirth in graphics and the game engine but continue more along story lines , enhancing the plot as well as expanding the fields , items , and equipment / weapons that you can interact with .

The first game introduced us to the cast of the G.U . series and gave us fans of the original games a lot of enjoyable and awesome tweaks to the mundane battle system that was of the first 4 games of the series . I thoroughly enjoyed how this game plays and with the second volume , it adds several new battle mechanics , plus a few mini games for those continuing the series . This game continues the awesome story line that G.U . vol . 1 Rebirth left off on , and basically brings the player closer to solving the mysteries that the game set out for the gamers and Haseo , the main character , to figure out . The difficulty in this game was cranked up a lot from the previous version , so I've been seeing myself get game overs more often and such and it is exactly what I'm looking for . This game is a must get and everyone who loves RPG's should give the . hack series a try .

I had a blast playing this game . Dot Hack / / G.U vol .2 is one of the best games I have ever played , and the the third installment is even better . I love the plotline . . . I really don't want to say to much about it because you should play it for yourself , but the plot picks up where the other one left off and you get find out seven of the eight epitaph users are . I can say this one will make you want to jump on the internet to just find a thread of information on when the next Dot Hack gets to America . I like how you can customize your steam bike and race it ( course two is a real pain ) . Changeing weapons on the fly was a real slick idea to ; I always wanted a charater who could do that . They brought back a bunch of the side quests from Dot Hack / / G.U . vol .1 and even one from the original game serious ( remember the golden goblins ) . There is even a quest in the game where you get to find out what character Salvador Aihara ( host of Online Jack ) is in the World . All - in - all I had a good time playing it and can't wait for the next on to make it to America . . .

Okay , so following the agonizing wait after I finished finished Rebirth , I have to say that I am happy with the second volume , Reminisce . The controls and everything are basically the same as before , with some extras sprinkled in ( Divine Awakening = 3 ) . As for the story itself , I'm not sure if I have the right to spoil anyone , so I'll just say that I had been expecting that to happen all along . He acted too much like a good guy to actually be a good guy . xP Ah , what else . . . graphics are just as good as ever . My respect for Alkaid has gone up significantly , now that I know she isn't really a b * tch like she seemed to be in Rebirth . Heck , I even think she and Haseo are kinda cute together ( but highly doubt that it will actually be canon , as Atoli / Shino seem to be the likelier candidates if one is to follow the traditional RPG guidelines [ the heroes usually go for the healers ] ) . As for the voices , my opinion of the actors hasn't really changed . I still think of Sasuke whenever I hear Haseo ( not only do they look similar , their dub actor is the same ! ) . Atoli has that annoyingly whiny but ( how does one say it . . . real ? ) quality to it , and we get an inkling as to what she's like IRL . I still can't get used to Alkaid's voice , sorry . Everyone else matches up with their respective characters . Music is just as beautiful as always , and the ending theme Shinjitsu no Yukue has been stuck in my head to the point that I hum it at school .

This is one of the best RPG series I've played in quite a while . The combat does get a little repetitive after a while , as it doesn't change much between volumes . Considering the fact that the story takes place in a MMORPG , it makes sense , though - the combat of those games is always pretty stagnant .
For those of you that have played Vol . 1 , you can indeed transfer over all of your character data and start off the game with all of your progress completed . The story continues right after where Vol . 1 left off , and you get a resolution to the cliffhanger pretty quickly , only to face some new and more difficult issues . I'm trying not to give away anything , so details are sparse , but the storyline for the / / GU series is one of the best I've played through , and it's the main thing that keeps me going .
For completionists there's a ton of things to do , from sidequests to item collection to exploring . And , of course , when you're done with the game you can save your data to transfer over to Vol . 3 .
If you haven't played the first , I'd highly recommend doing so , as you will probably be confused for quite a bit of the game .

Aside from a few graphical glitches , in the first segment featuring Sakaki , his ponytail kept jumping up and down . The graphics in game are the same quality as that of Vol . 1 .
The voice acting is well done and directed , though the occasional over the top hamminess still appears at times . But , it in no way detracts from the voice work as a whole . A few speech items seem to have been removed in vol . 2 , all speech with the other party members that is not part of a cut scene , is now gone , replaced with straight text only . Not a big thing really , but I miss it .
A few tweaks have been done to the steam bike , it now moves much faster then in the previous volume . And , customizations of the bike is now possible in the garage that is newly installed into the @ home , which greatly adds to enjoyment of this aspect of the game .
Combat is essentially the same , barring a few new abilities and spells as it was in volume 1 .
Alchemy has improved ; you can now alchemize armor and accessories in addition to weapons .

This is one of the most imersive action RPG's I've ever played . The way Bandi has tried to blur reality into the game is positively astonishing . It's up to Haseo and G.U . to figure out what's behind this mess , and Namco Bandai couldn't have found a better way to help the story progress . Haseo's Journey is a personal one , and you can tell at almost every turn he learns something new about himself , and about how to rescue his friend Shino . Now that Atoli , the Shino look alike has gotten involved and is in danger of suffering Shino's fate , Haseo has never been more active in searching for the cure . Will he find what he is looking for ? Will Shino ever wake up ? What will happen to Atoli ? And what ever happened to Endrance after he lost the Demon Palace tournament ? If you want the answers , the only way to find out without having me ruin it for you is to buy the game , and log into The World to see for yourself .

They have also increased the difficulty of this one as well , battles will be harder , new maps to explore with new terrain , and you also need more chims to be able use warp points and doors .
Be warned however , you will need to make sure that you completed everything you wanted to do in vol . 1 as you will not be able to carry those quests over to this one .

Compared to the original series , this volume seems much longer than the original . hack / / SIGN series . The graphics continue to impress me , even after playing the first volume of / / GU . The artists who created this game really have a wild imagination , especially with the Lost Grounds .
Gameplay wise , the combat is improved over V .1 of / / GU . Weapon switching is faster , and , at least for the twin blade weapons , there are more combos in regular attacks . New special attacks are added as well .
For your guild Canard , you can continue upgrading it . The Book of 1000 continues up to rank 6 , although so far I've only upgraded my guild to rank 4 . I'm pretty sure that you can upgrade it to 6 in volume 2 , but I haven't made it that far yet .
Storyline is very good . There're a few tear-jerking moments , and some freaky as well as funny moments . Endrance . . . well , I think you should play the game to figure that out yourself ^ . ^
And wow . . . I always suspected from the anime . . . ehh . . . don't want to spoil anything . . . Simply put , the ending is great ^ . ^
Oh yeah , the first episode of . hack / / Roots is on the disc as well , so if you're not sure about buying the anime , you can watch the first episode from the game disc . Pretty cool addition .

This game is the continuation of . hack / / G.U . Rebirth , and if that's what you're expecting , that's what you get . If you played and hated Rebirth , you're likely to find Reminisce to be more of the same . If you liked Rebirth , you'll want Reminisce , if for no other reason than to continue the story . If you haven't played Rebirth at all , you might want to find that before diving into Reminisce . You do get a quick recap of the events from Rebirth at the beginning of Reminisce , but there isn't much in-game tutorial like you get in the previous volume , so if you're not a big fan of reading the manual , you'll have some trouble figuring out what you're doing .
There are some improvements in Reminisce , most of which are in the form of new features . The biggest new things being bike customization , the Crimson VS game , and being able to conrol your party member's equipment . With the bike customizations comes new bike missions - quick tag-the-flags type time trials . Nothing too complex , but a nice diversion from hunting monsters all the time , and getting the top time on each track gets you more ( and more interesting ) bike upgrades . Crimson VS is also an ammusing diversion , although I don't know if reaching high ranks in that nets you any cool equipment for use in The World ; if it doesn't , some of you may find Crimson VS to be a waste of time .
Visually , this game is just as good as Rebirth . Rich detailed environments Plenty of new Lost Grounds , a few new area styles , and a new town to wander in , so you shouldn't get tired of the scenery right away .
The music I believe is excellent , just as it was in Rebirth . Of course , a new town , and new Lost Grounds means new music , and it's all good stuff .

You'll even begin to feel attached to your ' fellow players ' in the game , just like you would in a real MMORPG game . I'm a college guy , and I'm not afraid to admit that I shed a tear a couple times at some of the stuff that happened . Naturally , those tears were soon followed by howls of vengeance as I made someone pay for each and every tear I shed .
Is this game easy ? It can be . If you powerlevel for a few hours , some of the fights can become sickeningly easy . The battle system is interactive , in that you don't have to wait for a timer to start wailing on something ! True , you do have to wait a little bit before you can use magic attacks , or special attacks known as Arts . But for your typical cutting , smacking , and slashing , it's as easy as running up to your enemies and smacking the X button a few times . You even have the ability to change weapons in mid-battle , and even in the middle of an attack ! This lets a player adapt to the situation as it comes up , and adds an element to battle that I haven't seen since the dress-sphere system of Final Fantasy X - 2 . Though , to be fair , you wont see Haseo going through any magical girl sequence when he changes weapons . ; )
The battle system is challenging , and it can make even power-leveling a fun experience . However , even if your level is up there , don't be fooled ! There are battles that don't even count in your level ! The game features a series of ' Avatar Battles ' where your character leaves the realm of the regular game , and enters an ' Avatar Space ' where you utilize your powers as an ' Epitaph User ' to combat the darkness that is AIDA , along with other ' Epitaph Users ' who are either possessed by AIDA , or misguided by their own ambitions . The Avatar Battles are very intense , but offer a bit of familiarity to anyone who's played a MegaMan game , in that there's an attack pattern you can start to recognize and exploit to come out on top .
There is a word of warning I must offer . This game can be hard on your controller . There are attacks that require you to do a ton of button-mashing , both in ' The World ' and in ' Avatar Space ' . Thankfully , after 60 hours of gameplay , my own controller is still intact .
Overall , the game is a delight to play . It feels like a good book that you never want to set down . The plot , animation , and acting is fantastic and really draws you in . It has enough side-quests and mini-games to keep an avid RPG player occupied for days on end . However , I do recommend playing

before playing this one . Not only does it fill in gaps in the story , but it also gives you a chance to get your characters decked out in awesome gear for the start of Reminisce ! After all , there's a mystery within ' The World ' and there are hundreds of players counting on you to save them .

I am a long-standing fan to the . hack series . I have loved every single game , and this one is no exception .
This game boasts several improvements over Vol . 1 , including a faster bike with better handling , better fighting styles with the twin blades and broad swords , and the addition of the scythe . Not to mention the exceptionally engaging story , which picks up directly from the cliffhanger ending of Vol . 1 . There are also more playable characters ( by which I mean other people to add into your party ) .
One of the other things that I like about this game is the amount of space that the story takes up ; I would guess that at least half of the game is cutscenes / dialogue . I suppose that might be a turn-off to a lot of people , but for me it helps the game to be even more enjoyable .
I highly recommend this game to any fans of action-RPGs , but the experience is much greater if you've played Vol . 1 first . Despite the fact that it doesn't end here , it's worth the wait for the third game .
Of course , things are even better if you've played the preceding series as well . If you have the money and the time , start from the beginning !

. . . and I love giving it to you ! . hack / / G.U . Vol . 2 is the second game in the . hack / / G.U . trilogy , and the 23rd piece of . hack plot released . This volume , however , is a lot faster paced than volume one . All the pieces of the puzzle have started to fall into place , and as a result you'll have to stay on your toes to keep up . The plot also thickens , picking up directly from the cliffhanger at the end of Volume one , leading up to a shocking cliffhanger conclusion . The Great Deception will be revealed , and the world of G.U . will be rocked . This was worth every penny , and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great story and awesome gameplay ! The only downside that I could really see is that just like Vol .2 , 3 , and 4 of the first saga , it's pretty much just an expansion pack of the first game . But that is by no means a bad thing ! Crimson Vs . is finally available , as well as a new root town ! Not to mention that they are a few new side missions available , such as the steam bike mission . Also , if you've been craving for more area battles , then look no further ! Vol .2 has you work your way back up from the bottom ! And as for the Avatar fights ? . . . well , you'll just have to play for yourself to find out ! !

This game has easy game play and your never confused on what to do next . The characters are fun and colourful . Each one has their own personality that you can get to know better via personal emails . You are spending your time investigating Aida , a strange virus like creature thats attacking players on this MMORPG game called The World . Only a select few can see these Aida , and only they can stop them . Your character Haseo , was thrust into this world of Aida Hunters inorder to help his friend Shino , who was attacked by an Aida infested character . Any character attacked by Aida falls into a coma off line and become lost ones .
And Although the game doesn't end in vol 2 , I do suggest it for dot hack fans ( especially if you've played the first )
The only down falls is the constant emails . You play a field , get an email , log out of the server , log out of the game , log into your email , read , log back onto the game , back onto the server , complete the task the email stated , and the vicious cycle continues . Having finished . hack Volume 2 , I can say ( with a relieved sigh ) that I was impressed . The game has a solid 30 hours of gameplay , regardless of whether or not you import data from the previous game ( Volume two of the original series logged in at about 10 hours , which was unacceptable ) . You are thrown immediately into the fray , as The World has gone crazy , with players unable to log out , while others are PK'ing at will . From there , the quest goes forward ( I don't really want to spoil any story here ) .
All in all , the gameplay improves greatly on its predecessor . The control of your character is still tight , and a few hours into the game , you gain the ability to switch weapons on the fly ( there are three you can use ) . Party members will now chase down chim-chims ( which is great ) , and lucky animal ( which is a pain - you can't really sneak up on them anymore ) . There have been added numerous field and dungeon designs ( I particularly like the tower dungeon , with its falling rocks , blade traps , and trap doors ) , which allows for more variety in travel , although the basic run into monster / knock monster around mechanic remains . I would like to have seen a LITTLE more done in this regard , but nonetheless , it is still fun gameplay that you know and love ) .
There are a couple of problems with the game , however . One is , THIS IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME GAME STRUCTURE AS VOLUME 1 ! . Heck , the plot is almost identical ( fight in tourney , investigate Aida , etc . ) , all the way to the ending . The quests are almost identical ( returning are the PK Hunter quest , which I liked , the Chim Kicker , which is irrelevant , the Lucky Animal , which is OK , and the Mecha Grunty , which is still annoying ) . In fact , pretty much , the same NPC's show up to ask for your help . Very lazy on Namco's part .
A couple of additions , however , help out . Crimson Vs . is a card game ( the link was there in Volume 1 , but you couldn't actually play ) . The card game itself is very easy ( look to improving AP , and you'll get into the top 50 in no time ) , but it still is a decent diversion . More fun is the Bike Quest mini-game . Similar to Grunty racing in the original . hack , your goal is to finish 5 bike courses with the best time . Often , the obvious path isn't the best one , and in only one course ( thus far ) have I managed to get the best time . The Doppelganger returns , and if you defeated him in the first . hack , you can get excellent weapons ( better than anything you get in the game ) . In fact , the weapons are SO good , and can be equipped so quickly , that I would wait until the end of the game to obtain them , to retain any kind of a challenge at all ( not that there's much to begin with ) . And finally , there is one optional boss at the end of the game that is worth the price of admission . I won't say more .
All in all , I was very happy with this game ( and it came out at the perfect time - right at the end of the semester ! ) . Any fan of the series will definitely like it , but Bandai / Namco is finally trying to cater to non-fan-boys ( unlike , say , the original series , or the Xenosaga series ) by making a game that is interesting in its own right . Once again , Bandai has done it - - . hack / / G.U . Volume 2 : Reminisce is yet another great entry in the . hack saga . This game picks up where the story of Rebirth left off , so pick it up and see for yourself the next part of this epic story !

This game is really good , and it's story line is intriguing . May not call much attention to those who haven't played previous versions , but it's a game really worth playing . As Haseo and he's gang fight off AIDA , they encounter more problems regarding The World .

Reminisce picks up right where Rebirth left off . Even though there's a recap , the amount of references to the first game as well as the connected anime , ROOTS , will confuse you a bit . That being said , if you understand the plot , then the story is amazing , one of the most emotional I've seen in a while . I already feel as if more has happened than what had happened in Rebirth , and I think I still have a ways to go before beating the game . There are a lot of sidequests , with the new ones being quite interesting and fun , especially the bike races . The gameplay is not much different from Rebirth , although a new awakening as well as the addition of on the fly weapon changing completely adds to the combat . Overall , this game is better than Vol . 1 , and if you liked Rebirth , you will love this one . Pick it up if you can .

Reminisce adds a lot of material to the already dense storyline begun by Rebirth and the anime series Roots . New characters and new enemies appear , as well as a great chunk of the truth being revealed by the end of the game . Battle receives further tweaking , including some new attacks , and the option of switching weapons mid-attack to deal even more damage to enemies . I really enjoyed the increased difficulty as well , in later battles , because they posed a challenge , whereas a lot of the battles in the beginning of the game , and in Vol . 1 , were very simple , and were only button mashing until the enemy died . Vol . 2 also brings in Crimson VS , which is a minigame played from the desktop area of the game . It also continues the investigation of Doll Syndrome by the net show Online Jack , which serves as much-needed comic relief , and still conveys the real world consequences of some of the events that occur within The World . New side quests and a new look for Haseo , the main character , also enhance the game , making Haseo look more interesting , while the quests provide a break from the storyline to level up your characters and earn special rewards at the same time .

Still being only half way through the game , I am still trapped within the storyline , and pulled along by Ovan himself . With the story continuing deeper and deeper , I can't wait to see what happens next in Vol . 3 !
As I've said , the story is great . The graphics are wonderful as well , and it's so much more interesting now that they've added the weapon change ability ; of course , this can only be acquired after achieving the job extension . Even with a new Awakening , this new . hack / / series keeps growing greater and greater , especially when the new awakening gives new attacks depending on your party members .
New characters add a whole new meaning to the game as there are some characters you wouldn't expect to get ( not wanting to give names away , you'll just have to play the game for yourself to find out ) . If you have the first game as well , it's great to have all of your items and stats carry over to this second installment . . . especially if you max-ed out all of your items !
And with more people falling into a coma , you can't help but grab your controller to help Haseo find a way to get them all better .

. hack / / Reminisce is the continuation of the . hack / / GU series , which is the continuation of the . hack franchise . Despite a few minor things , it is an absolutely brilliant game to play .

It is the most unique of any similar games out there . Along with that are the great anime-style cutscenes that truly makes . hack / / GU seem more like a playable anime rather than just an RPG .
Next , the gameplay is a great improvement over the first series of . hack games , which , despite having an equally exciting story , had rather subpar gameplay . But GU is truly fun to play and volume 2 continues to expand and improve the system to keep the game fresh , despite being the second part of the same game .
Additionally , the music of GU is a drastic improvement over the first games and almost matches the quality produced by Yuki Kajiura , who had done the great soundtrack to the first series of . hack animes . Rather than be dull and repetitive , the music throughout the game is fitting with the rest of its greatness . However , it's a terrible shame that they couldn't fit the Japanese soundtrack into the Western release of the game . It's probably a typical remark , but the dub work on GU isn't so good .
If you like anime and you like RPGs , you absolutely must give . hack / / GU a try , starting with Rebirth and continuing through Reminisce and hopefully to Redemption .

I recently purchased this item , and I must say I'm quite impressed , the game not only continues with the mechanics of the original but unlike the old . hack games , this one improves upon them . Steam bikes now run smoother , new battle abilities , faster paced battles . New party members . This game has it all , and it also continues the great story that the first game set up . This game is a definate buy for any lover of the . hack franchise .

To be more efficent I'll just go over the Pros and Cons of this game , for the people who bought Rebirth and are thinking of getting this ( though I can't imagine anyone NOT wanting to get this after the cliffie vol . 1 left us on ) :
Pros
- Improved steam bike system . Now your bike actually goes faster than your normal walking speed !
- Crimson Vs . is up . The card game that was down for all of vol . 1 is finally up ! I personally didn't think it was all that great , but at least the cards look nice .
- More party members . As the game progresses you get even more party members to go adventuring with you .
- New town . Dol Donna opens up and it is awesome , plain and simple .
- New class . Yeah go Haseo ! Fairly early into the game you become a Flick Reaper ! How snazzy is THAT ?
- Revamped fighting system . Even the old classes ( dual blade , broad sword ) get improved .
Cons
- The beginning . Oh dear , the first part of this game moves SO slowly . Don't judge this game on the sluggish opening .
- Arena . I was personally offended when I saw that I had to climb my way back up in the arena . What , I thought I was the Emperor . . . If the 3rd volume makes us compete in the Arena again I'll be forced to do something drastic .
- Party members don't talk anymore . In vol . 1 as a US exclusive when you clicked on your party members they would speak a short sentence , but now there is no spoken dialogue . I know it wasn't a big deal , but still . . . I miss it .
- Mac Anu is obsolete . After Dol Donna opened up , it is hardly necessary to go to Mac Anu , so I found it bothersome to have to got to a new town just to check in with how my side quests were prgressing .
All in all this is a superb game . All of the good over weighs the bad . If you have vol . 1 , what are you waiting for ? Pick up this game now or I will sick the doppleganger on you !

092 4 . . . and I love giving it to you ! . hack / / G.U . Vol . 2 is the second game in the . hack / / G.U . trilogy , and the 23rd piece of . hack plot released . This volume , however , is a lot faster paced than volume one . All the pieces of the puzzle have started to fall into place , and as a result you'll have to stay on your toes to keep up . The plot also thickens , picking up directly from the cliffhanger at the end of Volume one , leading up to a shocking cliffhanger conclusion . The Great Deception will be revealed , and the world of G.U . will be rocked . This was worth every penny , and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great story and awesome gameplay ! The only downside that I could really see is that just like Vol .2 , 3 , and 4 of the first saga , it's pretty much just an expansion pack of the first game . But that is by no means a bad thing ! Crimson Vs . is finally available , as well as a new root town ! Not to mention that they are a few new side missions available , such as the steam bike mission . Also , if you've been craving for more area battles , then look no further ! Vol .2 has you work your way back up from the bottom ! And as for the Avatar fights ? . . . well , you'll just have to play for yourself to find out ! !

This game continues the awesome story line that G.U . vol . 1 Rebirth left off on , and basically brings the player closer to solving the mysteries that the game set out for the gamers and Haseo , the main character , to figure out . The difficulty in this game was cranked up a lot from the previous version , so I've been seeing myself get game overs more often and such and it is exactly what I'm looking for . This game is a must get and everyone who loves RPG's should give the . hack series a try .

052 4 ' Simply stunning . ' Those two words sum this game up simplistically . Each scene left my mind paused , savoring each of the scenes as if they were cherished gifts . The gameplay is fluid , and runs most smoothly . Of course it has its downsides , such as the limited amount of fields and dungeons , but it is well made up for with the amount of customizable features ( the desktop , since . hack / / INFECTION has been one of my favorite add-ons - ^ _ ^ I love to make it ' MY ' desktop ! There are many intricate weaves throughout the storyline , as well as the quirky comic relief . As it is I'm still playing it , even after completion , just simply to simulate that MMORPG feel . : D Pick it up , play it , and love it ! !
