023 4 During a traditional Okinawan dance , a young girl has a vision of monsters destroying Tokyo . A young man with a construction company , Kisugi , and his brother , Masaiko , witness the event . They learn that the girl and her grandfather are descendants from the Izumi , the royal family of Okinawa .
This movie uses the same formula as Godzilla vs . Gigan , only its doubled . The other movie had a team of two guys and a girl . This time , there are two teams of three each . The first one is Kisugi , his uncle Professor Wagura , and Seiko , a cute investigator from Shuri University's archaeology department . They tackle the archaeological aspect , involving a statue of an ancient Okinawan monster , King Seesar , and ancient murals found in a cave that Seiko deciphers as an ancient prophecy . When the black mountain appears above the clouds , a monster will arrive and try to destroy the world , but when the red moon sets and the sun rises west , two monsters will appear , to save the people .
The second team consists of Kisugi's brother Masaiko , Professor Miyajima , and Miyajima's daughter Iko ( pron . eeko ) . The scientific aspect comes into play here , as Miyajima examines a piece of sparkling silver metal Masaiko finds in a cave . He identifies it as space titanium .
Before long , a monster is on the rampage , and yes , it's the big green guy . Is that the monster the young girl saw in her vision ? And Kisugi and Seiko find themselves trailed by people who may have sinister agendas .
OK , this is the movie equivalent of a comic book , so I don't expect high standards . Even so , there are some hideous English-dubbed dialogue that would only belong in a very bad comic book . And there is one goof . When a bad guy is killed , one can see it is sunrise , yet someone tells Kisugi and Seiko on a night like this you should talk about love . Night ? Uh . . . maybe you should take off the dark glasses . It's daylight out , duh !
But the idea of an Okinawan babe singing a pop song to get a monster to wake up must rank among 1970 ' s kitsch . Me , I'd want Sarah Brightman or Charlotte Church to wake me up for my battle call if I were a monster , but I digress .
The use of a mystery plot , green space gorillas , and the usual monster mash , places this above others in the series . The realization of Mechagodzilla is another reason as well , as one of the most well-built and most challenging foes Godzilla has ever had . Also , this is one of the more violent ones . Anghirus , the giant Ankylosaurus-like monster whose usefulness is tenuous at best , has a brief appearance when he gets the s * * t kicked out of him , and blood sprays out of Godzilla's neck after a missile attack from his mechanical nemesis . The climactic battle is one of the most impressive of the series .
001 4 Who is Godzilla's greatest enemy ? While some may vote for the three-headed King Ghidora or the soaring Mothra , to me that honor will always rest on MechaGodzilla , the star of no less than five Godzilla films , more than any other monster . Here , in the 1974 Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla , we have the first appearance of that mechanical menace .
Filmed as a 20th anniversary celebration of Japan's most famous monster , Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla is a bloody and violent entry in the Godzilla series , with MechaGodzilla being a merciless killer , tearing the dinosaur-like Angirasu's jaw in half in the opening battle scene , then stomping off with bloody hands . The vanguard of an invasion , and controlled by a clan of ape-faced aliens from outer space , MechaGodzilla rampages throughout the unhappy island nation of Japan , and Godzilla is powerless to stop him . In order to stop the mechanical terror , an ancient , sleeping deity , King Seesar , is awakened and brought into the fray . Together , Godzilla and King Seesar withstand the assault of missiles , ray blasts , and a host of other weapons in the arsenal of MechaGodzilla .
If you like Godzilla films , than you pretty much know what you are getting yourself into . Big stompy fun , with giant monsters treading on toy tanks and beating the heck out of each other . Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla has all of these traditional delights , with a bit of a harder , more violent edge than the more-campy releases . It is still brilliant , Sunday morning fun .
This DVD release is one of the best available Godzilla flicks on the US market , but still not complete . The Japanese language track is included , which is an absolute must . This is an 85 minute version , rather than the full 97 minutes of the Japanese release . However , it is superior to the original US Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster version , which ran 80 minutes .
002 4 This movie has everything a good Godzilla movie should have - - monsters , fights , spies , scientists , aliens , the works . You don't even have to wait until the end of the movie to see a fight because the action starts early in this one . First , an old cave is discovered with mysterious artwork on the walls and a unique statue in a cleft , and a young woman has a prophecy that a monster will come to destroy the earth . As if on cue , Godzilla pops up , but he is immediately attacked by Anguiras . Right away , you know something's fishy because Anguiras is Godzilla's sidekick . This Godzilla is ruthless , and I am still upset about the injury poor Anguiras receives at his hand . Before long , Godzilla shows up , the two Godzillas fight and the impostor is exposed as a cyborg . Godzilla takes a pretty good beating and disappears , but MechaGodzilla is also forced to retreat and seek repair . Aliens are controlling MechaGodzilla , but they need the help of a brilliant Japanese scientist to make the necessary repairs . They capture the scientist and coerce him into helping them . Meanwhile , the good guys are running around trying to figure out the meaning of the strange statue found at the start of the movie . They find out that King Seesar , a guardian monster of sorts on Okinawa , is portrayed on the statue , so they must race to awaken Seesar to fight MechaGodzilla because they do not know if Godzilla is still alive .
The battles in this movie are quite good . MechaGodzilla has everything but the kitchen sink in his arsenal , and he even flies . King Seesar is a little weird , basically looking like a giant dog of some sort mixed with who knows what . The explosions , laser weapons , fiery breath , and general mayhem are very good , and many models are blown to bits . One of my favorite parts , though , is the song that is sung to awaken King Seesar - - I have no idea what the words mean , but it is a great song I sometimes listen to just by itself . Interestingly enough , I assume the song is in Japanese , yet it is still dubbed ( and rather badly in places ) .
In conclusion , this is easily one of the best movies in the original Godzilla series . If you don't enjoy this one , you almost surely won't enjoy any of the others , so this is a good litmus test for Godzilla newbies .
003 4 First off , as someone who has been a Godzilla fan for ages , I know all the films by heart and can tell you why each one is good and bad in it's own various ways . Now for the DVD . This particular release is a new HD transfer of the international release print done by Sony Pictures as all of their DVD's now feature HD transfers . The original Japanese audio comes from the recently released Japanese 50th anniversary DVD collection so it sounds wonderful while the English audio is taken from the original international print and while neither one has real directional sound , oddly enough , the Japanese track sounds the best as the English one is poorly balanced . I guess it comes from the poor ADR dialogue techniques often used with dubs . The video is a pristine anamorphic transfer of the international release print and is as good as it can get without digital restoration considering the fact that the film has held up well this long . I would really love it if each of the classic and 84 - 95 films were restored using the Lowry Digital Imagining software and techniques as they would really bring out the true beauty of these films . Anyway , if you like your Godzilla DVD's done the right way with quality , buy this one !

Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla ( DVD )
This was by far , the best Godzilla movie ever made . The only exceptions perhaps is the original Godzilla ( his first movie ) and the first appearance of Monster Zero . The fight sequences of man and beast were terrific . . . . . dare I say the fights between man and alien were actually believable ?
The main human hero , Shimizu was actually a complete character : thoughtful , cunning , headstrong , but take-action . Unlike most of the humans in the Godzilla film , he was not a complete idiot ! I mean , making a copy statue of King Caesar was a brilliant move !
on the idiotic side for a character : why the Professor who helped fix Mechagodzilla bring his daughter to the most dangerous areas , is beyond me . . . . I know , it's only a Godzilla film , still . . . ! I guess those scientists aren't very wise , eh ?
And , the other complaint is : if the aliens were so ruthless and bent on detroying Tokyo / Earth , why not just kill Shimizu and the girls to get the Statue of King Caesar ? ( and when the Chief of the aliens orders Mechagodzilla to kill Caesar , why didn't he just fly over and blow him to bits ? ) - - well , of course , if that happened , we wouldn't get any of the cool and cheesy Japanese singing to wake King Caesar up ! !
Anyway , enough of the plot hole mistakes . . . . the music was intense and interacted well with the movie itself . the battles between the monsters reminded me of old wrestling moves , and or gladiator type battles . I always love it when Godzilla postures to his enemies with his gestures and body language . Even the camera angles to certain scenes made sense !
Yeah , I watched it too many times , but it brings a smile to my face whenever I watch these cheesy Godzilla films as I recall memories of my childhood - - and it will always help me forget the stuff that happens now .
Cheesy or not , Godzilla , the guy in the rubber suit , will always be THE Godzilla to me , and not the CG stuff of the 2000s era .

006 4 Jun Fukuda's GODZILLA VS . MECHAGODZILLA is one of the most popular of the original Godzilla series . It's the best of the Godzilla films released in the 1970s , and possibly one of the best of the entire original series . The plot involves a group of apelike aliens ( PLANETS OF THE APES , anyone ? ) which build a cyborg Godzilla to conquer Earth . Can Godzilla stop the cyborg ? What do you think ?
For me , the highlight of the film is Masaru Sato's kooky score . Akira Ifukube's music makes the monster battles seem horrifying , but Sato's music makes them seem like a major rumble , more like a major wrestling match than an epic battle of beasts . This was Sato's last Godzilla score ; he'd previously written inventive and unusual scores for SON OF GODZILLA and GODZILLA VS . THE SEA MONSTER , both directed by Jun Fukuda .
Jun Fukuda isn't a popular name amongst most Godzilla fans because his films tend to be more silly than most ( namely SON OF GODZILLA , though he also directed the series ' worst entry , GODZILLA VS . MEGALON ) . I must admit that I love him . Granted , he's no Ishiro Honda , but his Godzilla films are very fun and amusing . Though most of GODZILLA VS . MECHAGODZILLA is what you'd expect from a 70s Godzilla flick , there are some moments of greatness , including some apocalyptic shots of Godzilla during a thunderstorm and of Mechagodzilla setting Tokyo aflame at night . There's also a great scene where Anguirus , in his final appearance until 2004 ' s GODZILLA : FINAL WARS , rumbles with the skin-covered Mechagodzilla .
The writing , like most everything else in the film , has its moments , but for the most part is just silly . Sometimes it's quite confusing . The Godzilla suit looks ridiculous rather than terrifying , but that may have been the producers ' goal , as the series had become more for children than anyone else by this point . Mechagodzilla is neat , but King Caesar seems out of place and foolish .
All in all , this is one of the most fun entries in the Godzilla series , and very likely the best Godzilla film to come out of the 1970s . The Big G returned for one last rumble in the direct sequel , TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA , before disappearing for nine years .
007 4 First off , anyone who buys these ( this one in particular ) movies for a small child needs to know these childrens Godzilla films were made for the Japanese market . At the time they were made , most of the nation was still scarred from the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki , this is why Godzilla is a such a popular and poignant character in Japanese culture ; he embodies the destruction and terror the atomic / nuclear age brought to this particular country . The threat was still prevalent , and if I lived in the only country in the world that had first-hand experience of its destructive power ( and the aftermath of it ) , I would definately relate to these films , as did the people of Japan . The Japanese children at the time were aware of what had happened to their parents and their nation , and were accordingly less shielded to violence than American children . Aside from that , anyone who decides to show this to a child , remember ; this is a MONSTER MOVIE and MONSTERS ARE SUPPOSED TO SCARE CHILDREN . So , please use your common sense before showing this to a 3 - year-old , ok ?
008 4 It's about time that these older Godzilla titles are given a proper release on DVD . This one , Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla is my favorite G movie of all time . It is the very first one I saw as a kid and has many of the qualities that attracted me initially to the series . This film ranks among the cheesiest of the series along with Godzilla VS Megalon and Godzilla VS Gigan . The ape men aliens , silly prophecies of doom , funky soundtrack and laughable effects all add to the inevitable charm of this movie . I still love watching it today , nearly 20 years after first seeing it .
009 4 One of the best Godzilla films of the original series ( second on my list to GODZILLA VS GIGAN ) this film was made to celebrate Godzillas 20th anniversery as a movie star . For the occasion , Toho has thought of a new enemy for Godzilla , and it is by far his most powerful opponent . Mechagodzilla , disguised the the real thing ( if you're keen you'll notice that the beast fails to emmit Godzillas trademark roar ) goes on a rampage and smashes buildings . Everyone's confused at first . After all , Godzilla announced his disposition as a good guy in 1965 , with the defeat of Ghidrah . Angillas , who helped Godzilla defeat a pair of alien invadors in GODZILLA VS . GIGAN , makes a cammeo appearance near the begining of the the film , but he gets beat up by the disguised Mechagodzilla . The real Godzilla appears on cue and unmasks the virluent cyborg sooner or later , and after suffering a defeat , pulls himself together again and destroys the monster with the help of yet another new found friend . You'll want to applaud during these scenes . Honestly , this is one of the coolest Godzilla films ever made , and his greatest challenge yet .
010 4 Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla is a completely enjoyable Godzilla movie , and , in terms of quality , probably the best of the 1970s Godzilla movies . Though aspects of it ( like the silver-suited monkey aliens who want to destroy the world with the title mechanical Godzilla clone ) are laughable , and the pacing is a bit uneven , the film feels a lot grittier and more mature than some of the previous entries . The monster fight scenes with Godzilla , Mechagodzilla , King Caeser ( a rather bad idea for a monster , unfortunately ) , and , briefly , Angillas , are enjoyable as always , and things are a bit more lively than usual .
The DVD from Columbia Tristar is nothing short of a revealation . The film's brownish-red color palette looks brighter , clearer , and sharper than it has since probably its original theatrical release . Purists will be happy to know that , like Tristar's other recent Godzilla releases , both the Japanese and English-dubbed tracks are included . There are no extras other than some trailers ( including one for Tristar's entire line of Godzilla movies and another for the Godzilla cartoon show ) .
011 4 I'd have to say I've never seen this movie as clearly as it's presented on this DVD . The opening Anguirus scene , which always seemed to me to be murky , is very clear . Sony for some reason also decided to change the Toho logo to the new version , but it makes no difference overall . I recommend this DVD to all Godzilla and kaiju fans .
012 4 like the other reviewer this is one of my favorite godzilla movies and until now i have had to watch it on a old fullscreen dubbed english cut vhs . but now with a dvd coming out i can hopefully view it as it was meant to be seen in widescreen with no dubbing . this along with godzilla vs gigan , godzilla vs hedorah , and a new special edition of godzilla 2000 with the japanese version as well , all make for a very exciting time for g fans .
013 4 One of the best in the series ! ! though a bit more violent than the rest . . Maybe shouldn't be the first to Introduce your kids to , as it had significantly Disturbed me when i was young by starting the movie off with . . . - btw i've never EVER noticed a G-fan Mention this anywhere - . . . the removal of a G-Legend's Tongue . . A display of violence second only to GvGigan , when the same Victim was Buzz-sawed . ; /
Other than that the Movie is great , the Scene where Mech G is revealed in flames is awsome , and when the Big G powers up for the final match it makes you feel like spazing in excitement in wait of Revenge . The Final Battle is good with a nice Finisher to the Mechanical Fiend , good ending , and the new ' King Ceaser ' even adds some Humor . . . unintentional i think . .
Also , this is one of the more serious movies . The Side plot is good , not as tacky as other G movies , but still a little off in consistency , and you get the odd feeling of seeing Planet of the Apes . . . The Godzilla Suit is one of the best ( i'd say ) , and Mech G is skillfully manipulated as a robot .
Even with a flaw or two , there is an Indescribable quality that makes up for it all , and it is held as one of the top rated in the series , and Best of all , after the last battle has left you yearning for more , next comes an equally fascinating direct sequel , Terror Of MechaGodzilla , to sustain the need for more Godzilla action . All in All Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla is One of the Best .
014 4 This movie is an improvement over its predecessor , the dreadful Godzilla vs . Megalon , which isn't saying much . . . frankly , Plan 9 From Outer Space would've been an improvement over Godzilla vs . Megalon ! Nevertheless , the creation of Godzilla's robotic double is an inspired one , even if Godzilla himself still looks vaguely frog-like and the SFX still aren't up to the standard of those spoiled by the Tsubaraya years . I mean , come on . . . the ape masks of the aliens are positively pathetic , let's face facts ! Thankfully the next sequel , MechaGodzilla's Revenge ( The Terror Of MechaGodzilla here in the States ) is another step up , albeit a bit too late to save the original series . Bottom line : this is a fairly entertaining movie that unfortunately doesn't follow through in many places that it should .
015 4 I just got this movie from a movie company off the internet and let me tell you , it is the best . I dont see why there are so many negative comments about this movie . Okay , maybe the aliens look like their from planet of the apes , and King Seesar looks like a dog crossed with a goat , but in essence , it is really a very good movie . Lets see , what do people want in a action / horror movie . Special effects , they were great , like the explosions and mechagodzillas eye lazer . Sound , it was pretty good , like the roars and the explosions . Action , it was very good , the mechagodzilla rampage , the chase on the boat , the fight with Angurus , the battle between Godzilla and mechagodzilla at the oil dock , the battle between humans and the aliens , the mechagodzilla vs seesar fight , and the final Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla .
016 4 This is one of the best Godzilla movies because it has a plot that is belivable . Mechagodzilla is a very popular . Aliens try to take over the world . Their is a lot of monsters in this movie . Inshiro Honda made this . And it doesnt have stupid looking costumes .
017 4 The scenes with the monsters are great , but just too far inbetween . This movie just drags and drags at times . But , the fight scene at the end with Mechagodzilla is worth the wait , although the idea of Godzilla just magnetizing himself was a bit much .
018 4 I thought that this was an okay movie , not really one that I would want to watch over and over again . Maybe if King Seasa , Seasar , Seesaw , Shisa , whatever , had played a bigger role it would have interested me more . Does anyone get the whole play on Okinawa thing going on ? He is a Shisa , one of those lion-dog palace guardians . So it is interesting that the person who can awaken him is the last descendant of the royal family . The Shisa in Okinawan belief can swallow evil , so it is appropriate that King See-Saw ( when I was younger I thought it was spelled this way ! ! ) can take in the energy rays from MechaGodzilla and shot them back . Overall , too weird of a movie to watch too many times . Maybe I'll get it again just to learn the King See-Saw song . Does anyone know that one ! ?
019 4 If you are a godzilla fan , nothing beats this one ! It has the best looking godzilla and the most action throughout out of any other godzilla movies .
020 4 This was my first Godzilla movie , I was either five or six when I saw it . Now that it's on DVD in widescreen format , it should be great . I'm hoping we get accurate subtitles like in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla . This is a very serious movie , with great actors , the soundtrack is also a great bonus . The monsters are great as well . Some very new ideas for the showa series . The blood effect , with blood spraying forth from Godzilla's neck is well done . Godzilla then continues fighting , covered in blood . I have it on VHS but plan on getting the DVD . I'm positive it'll be worth every penny .
021 4 This Godzilla movie is one of the Best Of the rest ! When a phony Godzilla attacks Tokyo Anguris comes to battle the phony version of his pal ! Then Anguris loses and Godzilla comes to the rtescue taring the phony Godzilla suit off of the clone who turns out to be a mechanical version of Godzilla controled by aliens of the third planet ! The robot's name is Mechagodzilla ! Then a beuatiful princess named Nami wakes the gardian monster King Seesar up to help Godzilla well she succseeds and Godzilla and Seesar team up to destroy Mechagodzilla which they do ! But I'm not going to tell you any more about this great Godzilla movie becuase I want you to be suprised ! Not unsurprised !
022 4 Godzilla Vs.Mechagodzilla is a way cool film ! Very great special effects and music ! Good Monster Choices , Great Battle Scenes and The Fire Looks Realll ! ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR ! GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ! PPPPAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !
025 4 Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla is easily the most fun Godzilla film I've ever watched . This film doesn't reach the level of Destroy All Monsters , Monster Zero , Godzilla vs . Mothra or Gojira , but it comes close . And more importantly , from opening to end credits , you can tell everyone had a good time making this film . Similar in many ways to Godzilla vs . Megalon , Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla is many times better due to more money , better writing , and a better cast . This is the Godzilla film I have seen the most times .
026 4 I think Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla is a good movie . They put in two new monsters ( King Caesar and Mechagodzilla ) and put in new attacks . It is a good movie .
027 4 While not as good as the hesei films ( Godzilla 1985 - Godzilla vs . Destoroyah ) , this movie towers over others like Godzilla vs . the Sea Monster Godzilla vs . Megalon .
028 4 A moderate amount of quality began seeping back into the G series with this film , which marks the return of director Jun Fukada and composer Masuro Sato . The silliness is , for the most part , tossed aside in favor of mystery and action . The Big G faces one of his deadliest foes in Mechagodzilla , an alien war machine bent on death and destruction . He is an awesome creation ; a definite improvement over the giant beetle Megalon . The spfx , though flawed in spots , are well executed ( particularly the refinery showdown between G and his cosmic doppleganger ) . The story moves along swiftly , successfully obscuring some plot holes . Though not up to the standards of the golden era G films , the cast is capable . Fukada's interest in spy films is still very much in evidence . Unlike previous entries , this element works this time . Masuro Sato's score is both mysterious and doom-laden . It is one of his best in the series . King Seesar is not a very likable creation ; all matted hair and goofy grins ! He deserves his place alongside Ebirah and Gabera as one of ToHo's worst kaiju . All in all , this is a fun movie that won't hurt your brain too much .
029 4 The first MechaGodzilla movie was a much different movie than Godzilla vs . Megalon . This movie definitely had a lot of good fight scenes and the special effects were top notch for that time . I must admit that they could've left King Ceasar in that mountain because he definitely didn't help Godzilla in the least bit . It had it's cheesy moments , but this movie was quite entertaining . I recommend kids and adults to watch this movie .
030 4 This is a pretty good Godzilla movie . That has plenty of stomping and is very campy . As for the plot it's just another Japanese aleins invading earth one . By the way this movie is A.K.A . Godzilla Vs . Mechagodzilla
031 4 Let's get ready to rumble ! ! ! Godzilla is back and is ready to fight . When a alien race comes to earth for them to destroy mankind and start a new race on earth , Godzilla isn't too happy with the remodeling plans . All of a sudden the aliens send out MechaGodzilla , a robot that looks just like Godzilla . When things start to look bad Godzilla and King Ceesar come to save the day .
032 4 While I was up one night with little of interest in what was being broadcast I popped in my copy of Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster ( also known as Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla ) . This is a very amusing piece of Godzilladom .
Spacemen from space ( as they are referred to ) create Mecha-Godzilla as a device to conquer the Earth . At first Mecha is masqueraded as the genuine article but the real big guy shows up and the imposter is unmasked . Godzilla manages to damage the metal imitation .
The Spacemen , who when not disguised like humans look like men in bad ape masks , kidnap a Japanese scientist , who happens to be versed in space technology , and force him to help with the repairs .
Meanwhile , a mysterious statue of King Seesar has been found in a cave and the Spacemen are out to get it . Thanks to some Interpol agents the statue makes it to its proper destination . Once there , the final descendant of a royal line awakens King Seesar so that he can help in the battle against Mecha-Godzilla . King Seesar looks like a big dog on a really bad hair day .
In the end Godzilla triumphs , King Seesar goes back to sleep and everyone is happy . On an interesting note , when this movie was first broadcast in the states it was cut in half and a man in a Godzilla suit filled in some of the gaps with some narration . The interesting part is that the man in the suit was none other than John Belushi .
033 4 Godzilla fights himself ! Mechagodzilla can fly ! Humans battle Space Alien Monkeys who can speak Japanese ! Okinawan princess sings lounge to waken the mythical King Seesar ! Everywhere you go there is an Interpol agent ! Brilliant Scientist must learn the secret of a metallic smoking pipe !
Is Godzilla finished ? Can it be that the mighty one has finally met his match ! Will the evil Space Alien Monkeys succeed in using Mechagodzilla to destroy Tokyo ! And what of King Seesar !
See two-on-one explosive wreslting giant monsters ! See Mechagodzilla and all his hellish fury ! See Godzilla fight , using both brains and brawn ! See . . .
. . . GODZILLA vs . MECHAGODZILLA
a true clash of the titans .
034 4 It is okay . It has a pretyyyy bad plot . Godzila has an friend , the God that looks like a god . King Caesar is his name . it is better than Godzilla vs . Megalon . The effects are good . The movie has it's moments . I reccomend this if you like the monster Mechagodzilla .
035 4 Mechagodzilla is one of my favorite opponents for his namesake , simple in design but packing massive firepower he has also drawn plenty of blood . This is one of the bloodier Godzilla movies , Anguirus bleeds from his mouth before retreating and the might King of Monsters sprays arterial blood after a strafing pass . Godzilla's suit was nicely done for this film with a detailed face , it offsets King Seesar's somewhat comical angry dog look . The Aliens from the Third Planet of the Black Hole : Outer Space are my least favorite of the series . Plenty of action and monsters offset the rather groovy musical score as well . Overall Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla is a great movie , creating a memorable opponent and a welcome addition to any collection .

Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla ( DVD )
This was a great buy and it got me one step closer to completing my collection . Amazon.com has helped me to locate many hard to find items I have been searching for over many years . I bought this dics used and by the way it is in mint condition . I have since recommended amazon to many friends and family members and will continue to do so , Happy shopping .
038 4 The first of Godzilla's romps with his mechanized counterpart , the original Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla centers on - - surprise ! - - space aliens bent on conquering the earth . These fellows look as if they stepped out of an amateur Planet of the Apes costume contest , but MechaGodzilla himself is one of Toho's most impressive beasties . The Sony DVD features a beautiful widescreen presentation , with a choice of English dubbing or the original Japanese soundtrack with subtitles .
This Toho monsterfest originally came to town in 1977 courtesy of Cinema Shares International under the title Godzilla vs . the Bionic Monster , but Universal objected to the use of the term bionic , which they coined for their The Six-Million Dollar Man TV series , so Cinema Shares changed the title to Godzilla vs . the Cosmic Monster . Sony has wisely released the movie under its original production title .
While the story mimics some of Toho's most enjoyable daikaiju outings , such as Monster Zero and Destroy All Monsters , the production suffers from the budget constraints typical of that lean period for the studio , and director Jun Fukuda and special effects director Teruyoshi Nakano frequently opt to amuse rather than impress . The Godzilla , Angilas , and King Seesar suits are inferior ( the latter resembling a mythological Asian lion on a bad hair day ) , so MechaGodzilla stands out as the only noteworthy member of the kaiju cast . The appearances of veteran actors Akihiko Hirata and Hiroshi Koizumi lend some weight to the people scenes . With its frenetic battles and amazing pyrotechnics , Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla at least provides some colorful bang for the buck .
039 4 at first your like yay , Godzilla is evil again then he kills Anguiras and your like NO not your little buddy . you killed gilligan skipper ! and then you see he is shiny under that green grey skin . godzilla awakens and is like what the , am i looking in a mirror , ok who pulling my leg than evil godzilla fights him and they mess each other up and then evil reveals it is a Robot . WHAAAAT ! but yeah mechagodzilla is created by the planet of the apes with horns and they return in the sequil with stuping helmets . bu this is a good movie one of the getter G movies . um king Ceasar fights at the end after a long song and he gets his kaiju ass kicked and godzilla rips off MG's head and MG dies and so on . GET IT ITS MECHA AWSOME
040 4 Mechagodzilla is simply cool , and over the years he's gotten some improved weapons and gadgets , switched from being a heel to a hero . . . but the bottom line is he is simply a great foe for Godzilla .
When Mecha-G arrives disguised as Godzilla , the folks of Japan are curious as to why the big lizard has suddenly turned on his ally Anguirus ? In one of the best reveals of the whole series , Mecha-G sheds his Godzilla disguise and begins an all out assault on Godzilla . Who is controlling MechaGodzilla , and for what purpose ? Can the ancient Godzilla overcome the latest and greatest in technology ? And what the hell is King Ceasar , and whose side will he fight on ?
This is a classic entry in the series , and a must own for all Godzilla fans . Godzilla vs . MechaGodzilla comes off as if someone took a kaiju film , dipped it into a James Bond movie , then sprinkled liberally with a dose of 1970 ' s alien invasion films . The whole movie really is a mixed bag , but it's so much fun you hardly notice that it barely makes a lick of sense . Great monster fights , some beautful shots of Mount Fuji and surrounding areas , an awesome soundtrack , and the introduction of two new Toho monsters in Mechagodzilla and King Ceasar . As an added bonus , the DVD presentation looks great ! It's obvious some time and care were put into this DVD , the color pops , and the sound is great !
This disk is well worth adding to your collection .
041 4 I'm pretty sure that's the first time that sentence was ever written . Anyway , in 1974 , Toho finally decided to put just a little bit more effort into their Godzilla films , which were getting increasingly ridiculous . After four disastrous bombs ( Godzilla's Revenge in 1969 , Godzilla vs . Hedorah in 1971 , Godzilla vs . Gigan in 1972 , and Godzilla vs . Megalon in 1973 ) , Toho upped the budget , rehired innovative composer Masaru Sato , and decreased the camp , if only just a bit . What resulted was Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla , a colorful , entertaining , and competently-made Godzilla extravaganza .
The plot was summed up in the review title , and most people probably already know what it is anyway . In stark contrast to the annoying kids and everyday people of the previous few films , Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla gives us scientists , archeologists , and INTERPOL agents as the main characters , which makes it a bit more suitable for people looking for a more serious Godzilla film . Godzilla himself was slightly altered as well , and while he does look better than he did in Godzilla vs . Megalon , his suit still has the same kid-friendly look . The battle scenes are well-filmed and exciting , and Masaru Sato's score is typically brilliant . My only real complaint is that there are no scenes with the military in this film , which is extremely odd .
Overall , Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla is easily one of the best of the Showa era films , along with Mothra vs . Godzilla , Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster , Destroy All Monsters , and Terror of Mechagodzilla . While it is by no means a timeless classic the way that Gojira and Mothra vs . Godzilla are , it's still a decent film that's a blast to watch . If only Toho had gone a little further and constructed a more intimidating Godzilla suit and spent a little more money on the monster scenes , Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla probably would have been a huge hit at the box office instead of a modest one .
042 4 The Big G meets one of his mightiest foes in this , the next-to-last film of the Showa series ( 1954 - 1975 ) . Thankfully , the filmmakers do not rely on stock footage for the majority of the spfx shots like
All Monsters Attack ( aka Godzilla's Revenge )
&
Godzilla vs . Gigan
did . Godzilla looks much like he did in Godzilla vs Megalon with some slight alteration . Some don't like this look but I think it works fine ( though admittedly , it is a far cry from the fearsome beast depicted in earlier entries in the series ) . The real star here is Mechagodzilla , a titanic killer robot from the stars . The scene where the his true identity is revealed is a classic moment . I vividly remember seeing this film as a child & as a huge fan of both Godzilla & robots , I was sure that life could not get much better than a robot Godzilla ! King Ceasar , on the other hand , is a bit of a letdown . After much build-up , he awakens from his centuries-old slumber only to promptly have his mangy hide kicked by Mechagodzilla . Thankfully , King Ceasar fared better in the disappointing
Godzilla - Final Wars
. The fight scenes are generally executed well but Godzilla's power-up move at the end of the film is a tad silly . There is also some bloodletting in the film so those with children should beware .
043 4 Godzilla vs . Mechagodzilla is also known as Godzilla vs . the Cosmic Monster when it was in theaters . The movie is about humans finding a statue of a god-like monster named King Ceasar . There is a prediction that the world will be destroyed by a monster . Another prediction is that 2 monsters will arrive to save the world . In the first prediction Godzilla arrives or so it seems to destroy Japan . He is eventually confronted by a second Godzilla . The first one melts away its outer skin to show a metallic version of Godzilla . The 2 fight with the real Godzilla being wounded , and shortly healed . The statue of King Ceasar is placed on it's temple to reveal the resting place of the monster . After a ceremonial song , King Ceasar is awakened . MechaGodzilla then fights with King Ceasar . While the fight is taking place Godzilla rises from the water and joins forces with King Ceasar to defeat the MechaGodzilla . In the scene when MechaGodzilla appears to look like Godzilla there is some characteristics of the real monster missing such as Godzilla's patent roar and the ability to breathe radioactive fire . It is a very good movie in my opinion which leaves room for the next film to follow - - - Terror of MechaGodzilla . P Corti .
045 4 This is probably the most fun , enjoyable Showa Godzilla movie . The plot involves Ancient Japanese folklore , Intergalactic Espionage , Exciting Kaiju battles and plenty of charisma and skill from most of the actors performing . The special effects are some of the best in the Showa series , especially compared to the quiality of effects in the last two entries . Acting is all around adequate , though no one in particular's performance stands out . The story progresses at a fast pace , and I found it never to be boring .
Younger children on the other hand will probably not enjoy this film becasue of the amount of non kaiju-realted action and plot development . Also , as some reviewers have somewhat comically complained about , their younger kids and sometimes siblings where upset by a graphic battle between Meachgodzilla and Angurius , which involved some pretty nasty mouth wounds . Just a heads up for people planning on watching this movie with small kids .
A great movie all around , and one of the better Showa entries . Great for repeated viewings .
046 4 This movie is one my favorite godzilla movies of all time.Talking about a good challenge I mean Mechagodzilla is godzilla ultimate rilvary in my opinion. This has a lot of monster action and mechagodzilla has alot of firing power that is hardly unbelieveable. We introdue King Seesar a guardian of the
people that really has no special skills except reflect. But godzilla is really cool but that costume was really lame he looks
to much like a puppy.but overal this G flick rocks .
047 4 This is one of the better G-films . The story is Godzilla appears in the mountains and heads to Tokyo . On the the way he fights Anguirus . Some Prof . thinks it's strange Godzilla is fighting his most trusted ally . Before Gojira kills Anguirus , Anguirus lets out a final cry . Now Godzilla raids Japan . Meanwhile , something hears Anguirus's roar and comes to avenge his death . And unbelievably , it's GODZILLA ! ? ! ? ! ? As the two kings battle it out the Prof . sees space metal on the first Godzilla where the second one blew off skin . I won't tell you the rest because it would spoil the rest of the film . The battles are great and plot is not half bad . This was actually made to celebrate Godzilla's 20th birthday . It also shows King Ceasar , an ancient god that tries to protect his homeland from the evil heard in the prophecies ( wich is mainly the plot of the whole movie ) .
049 4 I used to hate Godzilla when Godzilla Vs.Mechagodzilla came out I herd it was great so I bought it and poped it in , guess what ! I loved it ! Great special Effects , Great Monsters , Great Battle Scenes it was a classic I then watched Godzilla Raids Again , Godzilla-King Of The Monsters and others ( except Godzilla Vs.The Thing I didn't like it ! ) then I became a Godzilla fan all becuase of this Godzilla Movie !
050 4 This is a great Big G film he battles his evil mechanical cyborg Mechagodzilla created by ape aliens ( which was silly , the ape Aliens ! ) and disguises himself as Godzilla and Anguis arrives and makes the jappanese people confused becusase Godzilla and Anguris are freinds then the real Godzilla appaers and proves Mechagodzilla theres only room for one Godzilla in this world but Godzilla sadly loses that part and everything seems calm until Mechagodzilla strikes again and the Okinawain girl runs and sings a beuatiful jappanese song and awakens the Ancient savior monster King Cesar and then later on Godzilla appaers and makes himself a magnetic force , that's all I want to tell you I don't wan't to give the rest of this charming Godzilla movie whenever I watch it my eyes are glued to the TV I couldn't stop watching it becuase how good this movie is if you hate or dislike this movie Grrrrrrrrrrr to you and if you hate Godzilla watch this movie it will make you smile ! And great music and finally a person singing not at the Credits but in the movie during it , it is a great thing to watch this charming , classic and also amazing movie , the fire looks real great special effects !
Pros .
. Great Sound Effects !
. Great choose of monsters .
. Great Special Effects !
. Fire looks real !
. Great monster battles and scenes !
. Will make you grin every time you watch it !
Cons
. Aliens are apes !
. Aliens from the Black Hole !
Which one has more Pros or Cons ?
Pros so that means I would always give it 5 Stars !
052 4 In three words , this film is PURE BLOODY FUN . Tons ' of battle sequences , Aliens , Earth Invasion , Ape-Like Transformations , Weird Burglars , Earthquakes , Mecha-Godzilla - and most of all - GODZILLA ! The flick kick-starts pretty fast , with a weird happening at a royal family ritual . Then , the side-story of King Ceasar ( A very cool looking G-Sidekick , and I hope he finds a place in the newer Senshi Godzilla Flicks ) - then we are told about Space Aliens from the Black Hole who plan to take over the earth using a Godzilla-look-alike machine called ' Mechagodzilla ' who is made of near indestructable space titanium and has more weapons than a seven nation army in his arsenal . An awesome battle ensues - a battle between Mechagodzilla covered in a Godzilla suite , as he looks exactly like godzilla except his roar is more sonic ( Mechagodzillas ' roar ) and his radioactive breat which is uaually blue is yellow . Then the real Godzilla emerges - and one of my favorite battles occurs . Sweet stuff . Explosions , Radioactivity and missles galore ! Then , Godzilla blasts Mecha-Godzillas suite off to reveal his real robot-looking self . Some other great moments in the monumental Godzilla flick include Mecha-Godzilla tearing off half of Angilas ' mouth ( pretty bloody for a Godzilla film , by the way ) , Various major city destruction caused by Mecha-Godzilla , some pretty cool human action involving the space invaders and last but DEFINETLY not least - the final battle between Godzilla , Mecha-Godzilla and King Ceasar - which is one of my favoirte and most brilliant of all Godzilla battles . Mecha-Godzilla has estabished himself among G-Fans as one of the most popular Godzilla Foes of all time , and the most deadliest . This has been argued between Mecha-G and King Ghidorah ( Ghidrah ) - but I say Mechagodzilla . This is probably my second favorite film , second only to the original ( Godzilla , King of the Monsters ) and following close behind is Godzilla 1985 ( 1984 ) . This is a very very entertaining film , an AWESOME film at that . Nearly flawless . The only problem I can think of is the fact that King Ceasar song isn't that pleasent to the ears - but Ceasar himself is crazily cool ! In a Nutshell - this flick rocks ! A Masterpiece for all time ! Godzilla - Free of Charge Power Line Destroyer For 54 Years . Long Live The King !
053 4 this is a great film.after mechagodzilla was blown to pieces.another alien force rebuilds it and they call it the cosmic model ( of mechagodzilla ) and they try to take over the earth but not if the big bad walking atomic bomb has something to say about it .
054 4 This movie is great ! Godzilla fans will not be dissappointed . Just watching Godzilla power up before the final showdown , is worth the price of admission ! Of course with the earlier films , they are a little light hearted , but there is still great story , great action , and great monsters ! The Godzilla costume in this movie is a little cartoony looking , but it still works . MechaGodzilla is a real threat , and the space aliens vs . humans is a major part of the story . King Ceasar ( official TOHO translation ) is very reminiscent of the ancient chinese lion statues and makes a great hero . Why does that alien spy scream so much when he's discovered ?
055 4 It's not one of the best from Toho studios , but not the worst either . The story line is really dull as is the dubbing . The monsters in the film include the awe inspiring Mechagodzilla , Godzilla , King Seeser ( some giant hairy japanese god ) , and Angilious . The plot is again set around aliens releasing a giant monster that Godzilla has to defeat , but it is done better as in . . . lets say Godzilla vs . Megalon , or Godzilla vs . the Smog Monster . Aliens send Mechagodzilla to destroy and take over the world . Mechagodzilla turns himself into Godzilla , and almost kills Angilious . He then runs into the real King of the Monsters , and the rest is an all out monster bash that also introduces the new monster , King Seeser ( as I see it , he's a King Kong rip off . . . the resemblance is uncanny because he roars like the Toho Kong , he's hairy , he's prayed to by japanese women , and he moves just like Kong ) . The fighting takes place in the daytime and all the effects are bright and an all around happy movie . It's predocessor was Godzilla vs . Megalon ( 1973 ) and followed by Terror of Mechagodzilla ( 1978 ) . One of the better 70 ' s Godzilla epics ( but he still sports that awful Megarogoji costume that premiered in 1973 ) .
057 4 This is another one of my favorites from Toho's original series . The evil space invaders plot , which has been used too many times and is usually very weak , is actually a good idea in this adventure . In order to conquer earth , the apelike Simeons use MechaGodzilla , a robotic duplica of Godzilla . When Godzilla is defeated by his metal clone , MechaGodzilla goes on another rampage . Meanwhile a group of humans are trying to destroy the Simeons base in order to stop MechaGodzilla . When MechaGodzilla is sent to destroy the Azumi palace , a girl summons the lionlike King Seesar to battle the robot . Before long , Godzilla returns and the two of them destroy MechaGodzilla and save the world in an impressive battle . Highly reccommended for anyone !
058 4 this movie had a good plot unlike some of the other movies where they just had monsters stomping around and King Seesar did not do a lot of good helping out the G man . I don't even think he was nessecary . Damn good movie though
059 4 While not the greatest of Godzilla films , this is certainly a step up from its predecessor , Godzilla vs . Megalon . . . then again , a documentary about fungus would have been a step up from Godzilla vs . Megalon ! The idea of a robotic twin for Godzilla is at once outlandish and clever . . . it takes the aura of invincibility of the original Godzilla , and intertwines it with the fascination and trepidation that super-technology brings . Make no mistake , this is by no means a gem , but it does show some new thinking going on at Toho at the time , even if the budgets were just a BIT constrained .
060 4 This one is an awesome flick of Godzilla . evn though Mechagodzilla only destroys one building and a bridge , it is still cool . Okay , this movie is cool because it is a fast moving movie . Unlike other Godzilla movies that pretend they have serious plots , they spend the first half an hour going through stupid conversations about nothing . Another Key point is the music , it really gets you in the mood for Godzilla . The fights are longer than usual . Other than other Godzilla movies where they throw a rock at eachother , pull ones tail , and punch them for about 2 minutes is boring . These are solid good fights . And the humans have an objective in the movie . Rather than screaming their hearts out , wasting millions of dollars in military equipment , they actually go out after the badguys ( aliens ) and do something .
061 4 godzilla battles his mechincal twin in this outting . It's fair but not one of my favorites . godzilla is kinda boring this time around . he didn't do very much against mechagodzilla accept use magnetic powers to defeat the monster . I reccomend the 1994 version . godzilla does more damage in that movie .
063 4 It is well worth watching just to see Godzilla pit his radioactive fire breath against Mechagodzilla's eye laser / particle beams . As it may seem that in this one Godzilla has finally met his match , Godzilla shows a few new tricks whereby he transforms himself to become ultra-magnetically charged , drawing Mechagodzilla into his grasp , and thereby tearing him to pieces . Great stuff !
064 4 Probably the best of the 70 ' s Japanese Sci-Fi films , this film brings back good Godzilla movies to the series.Sure , the apes are easy to make fun of , and King Seesar looks lame , but its a suprisingly good film .
065 4 Boring at sometimes but other than others . Godzilla's appearance was a little better though . Anguirus and King Caesar had smaller parts in it but it returned an old monster and introduced a kinda cheezy and helpless new monster .
066 4 One of the best of the original series , with a fast-moving plot . Mechagodzilla is an effective villain and though that king-god creature comes across as a combination of the Cowardly Lion and Crash Bandicoot it's a memorable monster and the scenes showing its release from the rocks are excellently well-handled .
067 4 It's a very good movie but not the best film ever made . For one thing , Angurus deserve a bigger part . They could of kicked King Caesar out and have Angurus help Godzilla trash MechaGodzilla . Asoul the aliens looked like gorillas from Planet of The Apes ( 1968 ) , Beneath The Planet of The Apes ( 1970 ) , Conquest of The Planet of The Apes ( 1972 ) and Battle For The Planet of The Apes ( 1973 ) . And King Caesar , well let's just say he's not one of Toho's cash cows . But MechaGodzilla was great . And Toho made a good sequel to it called Terror of MechaGodzilla ( 1975 ) . I suggest you buy this instead of that Tristar crap .
068 4 Godzilla appears to destroy Japan , nothing too odd about that . But this Godzilla is acting strange , he fails to emit the trademark roar of Godzilla and he beats up his old friend Angilas . Then another Godzilla that really does emit the roar appears and theres the incredible image of Godzilla doing battle with himself . Then the one that dosn't emit the roar's skin is burned off by the other one's flame and it is revealed to be a robot named Mechagodzilla . Then the battle betwen the two Godzillas and an a ancient monster named King Ceasar begins .

070 4 I really couldn't care less about special effects most of the time , but it still seems odd that this was made six years after ' Destroy all monsters ' and was made by the same company and the special effects seem to be worse ( explosions , which are in most cases probably real , although small , explosions , are , obviously , not really any different from DAM ) . . . was this made when Toho had budget problems ? Ah well , special effects don't mean anything , so who the Hell cares ? The fight scenes weren't quite as good as ' Destroy All Monsters ' , although they were more voilent .
One thing I don't get ia that Mecha G is consided to be one of the possible best G-villains ( the other being King Ghidorah ) . . . well , I should say this now , so that people watching the movie won't be disappointed : In no way is Mecha G even close to the greatness that is King Ghidorah ( this being the only reason the movie is 4 stars instead of 5 )
071 4 Summary : It's Godzilla meets Godzilla when the King of the Monsters does battle with a robot clone of himself .
Despite the above average monster effects , script , acting and score , there's something about this movie that just keeps it from being a Godzilla classic . Two and a half stars would be a more appropriate rating . Certainly worth viewing .
Next is Terror of Mechagodzilla .
072 4 In my previous review of this film I made an error . This film did not mark the return of director Jun Fukada . He was already heading up the G series prior to this film ( Megalon , etc . ) . That said , the film is very enjoyable . It has its faults , to be sure ( the cheap ape suits immediately spring to mind ) but , the apparent attempt to return the series to its darker roots is admirable . G . vs . MG is a fun movie with a lot of action , a decent cast and one BAAAAD enemy kaiju .
073 4 this is one of the best Godzilla films . King Seesar was cute !
I was glad when they ( King Seesar and Godzilla ) tore off Mechagodzilla's head , especially after what it did to poor Anguris . . .
if you haven't seen this movie yet , then #1 , i am sorry to have spoiled somethings that happen in this movie , and #2 , stop reading this review and go and buy it !
074 4 One day in the 1970 ' s , someone realized that the only way to make Godzilla movies cooler was by adding a robot . Now , they could have added any robot . A robot Ghidora , a robot Rodan , or what have you , but someone came up with the miraculously awesome idea of making a robot Godzilla . And add that to plot that already sounds like something the James Bond guys would come up with if you got them high watching Planet of the Apes , and you obviously have the greatest film ever made .
Trust me , every minute more you see of this movie is one more minute of the greatest hour and a half of your life . And as if you need more incentive than robot Godzilla , keep in mind that there's also a MechaGodzilla's bad ass theme song , a jazz-singing priestess , and a scientist battling apemen with a pipe he carved out of SPACE TITANIUM .
So long story short , if you still don't want to see this movie , thanks for taking the time out of your busy Hitler-raping schedule to read this , Satan .
077 4 Although this movie is not nearly as cheesy as some of the previous child-oriented Godzilla films , it is still really , really chessy by anybody's standards .
Evil , silver-jumpsuit wearing Aliens build a giant Godzilla replica that is meant to take over the world . Only guess who can stop it . Well not just guess who , but also needed is King Cessar , the giant demented puppy-dog . The only way to free this puppy is to put a statue on top of a castle while the sun rises on the wrong side . Archeologists and interpol agents are the only hope for humanity .
The monster action in this movie was incredibly cheesy . Most of the time the monsters would interact just by wrestling and of course King Cessar ' checking ' Mechagodzilla while Godzilla keeps his evil replica in a headlock . One scene where Mechagodzilla is shooting his rockets is repeated about 7 times immediatlely afterwards . Godzilla's breath looks bad and very , very fake . The Godzilla costume has the giant eyes and the very long arms and looks overall pretty stupid . King Sessar looks like something that you would pick up at the Halloween store .
The reason that this movie gets that high of a rating is because of the completely ridiculous plot concerning the sunglass-wearing interpol agents who come to the heroes rescue just in time from the planet of the apes ( watch the movie just to see this ) reject aliens . The plot is just so cheesy but utterly hilarious .
Though the Kaiju part of this film is very substandard even for original Godzilla series standards , the plot is hilarious and worth watching .
078 4 As a child , I was obsessed with Godzilla movies , and this was the one that my father ( another avid fan ) would not let me see as a child . As an adult , I understand why . The gore in this movie was just plain upsetting , and would especially be so for a child . Watching Anguirus get torn apart and then watching Godzilla covered in his own blood is just awful , even now . These movies are supposed to be fun , and this one just is not . Unfortunately , it has some of the best visual effects of the series ( part of why I gave it two stars instead of the one that it really deserves ) . the music is good , and the fight sequences ( gore aside ) are well done . Apparently , Toho learned from this mistake and the next film to feature MechaGodzilla was much more fun and the opening credits featured a brief ( and mostly blood-less ) recap of this film . There were only three parts of this movie I genuinely enjoyed .
1 . When the flame burned away MG's disguise .
2 . THE LIGHTENING SCENE ! Very cool visuals when lightening hits Godzilla and rejuvenates him
3 . When Godzilla finally tore the damn thing's head off . After watching what it had done to both Godzilla and Anguirus , you feel REALLY glad to see that metallic bastard go .
079 4 Don't believe that this movie is rated G because it says on the disc that it's rated PG but it's worse than that . First this guy trys to kill another guy and there's punching and people making noises in pain and the guy tries to smother the other guy and then we stopped the movie just like twenty minutes or so in when Mecha-godzilla in godzilla disguise is on his way to beating Angurious to death when he grabs his mouth with one hand on the top and one on the bottom and begins prying it open . And as Angurious is roaring in pain blood starts gushing out of his mouth and godzila ( mechagodzilla ) mercilously keeps going and then stops . So Angurious gows away loathfully with blood all around his mouth and mecha-godzilla's hands are covered in blood . Then my little brother went to my mom and told her and he started crying because of the whole thing . My dad who was looking through the window while he was cleaning it at the time even got it stuck in his head and so did the rest of us . It's really a horrible thing and I don't thing that anything like this should ever be in a Godzilla film . I never expected it either and that's why it gets one star . . . .
082 4 Also known as Godzilla vs The Cosmic Monster , Godzilla vs . The Bionic Monster .
This is the 14th film in the Godzilla film series .
A Japanese ceremonial dancer has visions of a monster about to strike the city . Meanwhile , a man enters a cave . It is discovered there are drawings on the wall foretelling of a monster that could destroy the world . Also there is a statue of a demon monster . The prediction is : When a black mountain appears above the shoreline , a huge monster will come forward and try to destroy the world . When the red moon sets and the sun rises west , two monsters will appear to save the people .
There have been earthquakes everyday for 10 days . Something is moving underground . Godzilla returns . People think the prophecy is about Godzilla , but the elders believe it is a more destructive monster yet to appear .
Godzilla is fighting with his friend the Porcupine monster . Later , another Godzilla monster appears out of Mt . Fugi . it is a cyborg known as Mechagodzilla and it is being controlled by the evil space invaders .
Buit that's not all , another monster is about to be released . The very one that resembles the found statue .
The next film in the series : Terror of Mechagodzilla ( 1975 )
Update : Godzilla may return in 2012 . A deal has been made with TOHO , Inc . Warner Bros . will be co-producing and co-financing .
037 4 This was a great buy and it got me one step closer to completing my collection . Amazon.com has helped me to locate many hard to find items I have been searching for over many years . I bought this dics used and by the way it is in mint condition . I have since recommended amazon to many friends and family members and will continue to do so , Happy shopping .
056 4 Don't believe people when they tell you it's the best ! It is good , but not great . The plot was slow and dull and I don't like Angurous being treated that way !
075 4 i didnt buy this but amazon wanted me to review it , lol .
so i have no idea , ive never seen it .
080 4 It is the worst movie I ever have saw in my life .
048 4 Godzilla is BACK FOR THE SECOND BEST GODZILLA MOVIE EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ! Okay the 2nd best sounds bad but noo ! 4th best is bad ! 1rst , 2nd and 3rd are the must HAVES ! 024 4 Godzilla vs.Mechagodilla is great ! AWSOME sound effects ! And awsome looking Mechagodzilla ! Godzilla's cute roar and face.I'll recomend this movie it has King Ceaser and Mechagodzilla AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST Godzilla HIMSELF ! ! ! ! !
076 4 OK , I'M 11 YEARS OLD AND I DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT MOVIES . BUT I'M A SERIOS GODZILLA FAN AND I KNOW A GOOD G MOVIE WHEN I SEE ONE . AND THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM . SO ALIENS WANT TO CONQUER THE EARTH WITH A GODZILLA WANA'BEE MACHIEN , BUT WHY A GODZILLA LOOK ALIKE WHY NOT GHIDORA ( EVEN THOUGH MECHA GHIDORA WASN'T MADE TILL 1991 . ) AND HAVING THE MONSTER KING SEESAR IN THE MOVIE WAS POINTLESS , BUT I'LL GIVE IT SOME CREDIT , BECAUSE . . . WELL , YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO SEE THE END OF IT . ( HINT : LOTS OF BLOOD )
081 4 What were these knuckleheads thinking ! ! ! THIS MOVIE MADE MY BROTHER CRY ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! It stuck a horendous image in my little brother's mind ! Mecha godzilla in the form of godzilla merderously beats angurious and left helpless gets his mouth pried open by mechagodzilla as blood spurts out ! ! ! ! !
